I Will Lose (or Make) $25,000 Trying to Rebuild this Salvage V12 Ferrari

Mar 06, 2024
I'm Sam and

this

is the Ferrari polar 3000 pulling up right now. At

this

point I can confidently say that I regret buying this destroyed Ferrari V12 and usually this wouldn't matter much if it was just a normal car if you buy something and especially if you buy it well and you don't like it you can just give it turn it around and sell it again, it may cost you a few dollars in the process, but it is an easy way to move forward, the problem here is that when you buy a

salvage

car and you are the first public buyer and you want to get rid of it immediately, this It tells any other potential buyer that something is seriously wrong and although they could have bought it for a good price, it really wasn't good enough.

I've had this car for a long time and I've been going back and forth on whether I should really fix it now, many of you in the comments suggested I just take it apart which isn't a terrible idea. It would probably be worth around two thirds of its purchase price, each body panel that is actually usable is worth a small fortune, but this is just not realistic for me and it would take years to move each piece so I don't think I would do it. It was worth it Several months ago, I told some guys I wanted to try it, and coming out of it, I got a ton of inquiries.

More Interesting Facts About,

i will lose or make 25 000 trying to rebuild this salvage v12 ferrari...

I spoke to a Netflix producer who is interested in building a current show, he is a professional there. Rebuilder and a couple other guys from YouTube, they are all serious leads with a lot of cash, but the moment I explained the landing gear damage to him, all his previous interests just dissipated, well maybe it was the price that drove him away anyway. I couldn't let this happen. It rots in the fields and I only know one other guy who isn't afraid of things like this. I called my friend Ben and he was excited when I sent him c

r photos, it was like he had a complete blueprint plan to fix this frame without having to buy any of the Ferrari aluminum components.

Now you probably know Ben better as v-tune, a super talented framer and the right man for this job. He told me to bring it to him as soon as possible. My only problem was getting it. Put it back on the trailer, if you watched the previous videos you may know that the car runs but won't move, the tires are trashed so it barely rolls, although when you drag it behind the tractor it's a big stumped rudder on As for how to put it back into the trailer v-tune drew me these three dimensional sketches and I got to work.

What you're about to see is one of the dumbest things anyone can do with an old Civic, much less a Ferrari, so please. Don't do anything in the rest of this video, except maybe the part where we start the car, that's something you'll probably need to do at some point in your life. You have to do it safely. You have to do it simply and reliably. I can do all that with a fantastic jump package. These are the best jump packs and the only ones I use and right now they are the best price they have been all year on Amazon.
I'll leave a link to the TA Apex. down in the description and there is a big reason why I prefer fantastic jump packs over any other and that is because it has a manual override feature if your battery is so dead that a normal jump pack can't detect it well it just won't work and it

will

leave you stranded when you hold down both buttons on the ghost, the power button and the light button at the same time, you

will

hear it click and right there you go into a manual override mode where it sends the full power of this.
Jump the pack right into your battery and

make

sure it starts reliably every time and does so safely with its built-in smart chip, even if this is a gift for a new driver and they somehow cross the wires or connect it. bad it's not going to break the fantic it's not going to break your card it's just going to be too loud you don't have it clipped upright

make

sure you take advantage of the great fantic black friday sale going on right now for the next few Days ago on Amazon all of those links are in the description including a link for the X8 Apex which is the portable tire inflator that will inflate your tires with just its small built in battery up to 150 psi which is huge for any other laptop.
The tire inflator I had before only reached about 30 or 35 PSI. This one produces 150 psi, which is really important. If you drive a truck, you know they require about 75 pounds of pressure. The I went and turned the wheel as much as possible. I could this way when we were getting it off the trailer the steering wheel is literally completely locked at this point look how much the steering wheel has been turned so one of two things happens our steering rack is toast which is very possible o It's also possible that like I said the suspension is semi sorted and we need to readjust a couple of things there, either way we need to move this car and the wheels in the current condition they're in are all sorts. in different ways, this thing doesn't roll at all, especially not on grass, luckily my friend V2 told me about these here.
They are universal fit jute wheels, they are shop wheels, like in a collision shop if they have a car with the wheels and tires removed, but they still need to move it around the shop. They will use them. They have a solid tread and are very thin so there is little rolling resistance and they are obviously still shaped like a circle. Unlike what we're dealing with here, what we want to do is place our jute wheels on all four corners. Let's turn the wheels straight again. Hopefully we'll get this Ferrari around the farm much easier than before. last time, hey, go ahead Rich, see if it turns a little, go ahead, yeah, it's lighting up, you gotta go, uh, let's see here, no, this way, this way, just a hair, yeah, yeah, perfect, perfect, that's like it's almost there, okay, so not this. this is going to be c

lose

, this one is still cocked a little bit this way, so it's probably a little bit out of alignment, but yeah, well, with a little bit, remember Alex supposedly took care of that, okay, here, just give me a moment, you know? don't drive it, turn it a hair more that way, it's gotta go a little, oh, right there, I love it, I love it, I think we're gravy baby, I think we're good, well, I mean, Rich, the lineup is out of place.
It was in a minor accident, you know, minor, my rich thought, I mean, you know, airbags are so normal, what's so full of water? oh no, that's just a dropped Ferrari headliner, it's that normal, that's very normal, okay, cool, that's Ferrari, you know, dropped headliner, that's very nice. Here you have the suitcase, what is the suitcase? it's the suitcase with null Rich that's just the nice leather trim that's back there why do they have straps on a suitcase uh you know how to hold your stuff when you're going fast I'll probably hit something it's going pretty fast actually it looks like so what uh then what um what are we doing now not rich rich put it back put it back according to these very detailed diagrams it looks like the first step in our process here is to get the Ferrari nose in the air as high as possible on a grass field that looks safe, the purpose This is so we can roll the trailer back at the front, we can lift it the rest of the way, by the way, never do that. try something like this, it's not smart and what you're about to see is actually just CGI so far, this hasn't been terrible, but it's been a very Shifty operation.
We're on the second to last step here and that is bring the trailer, bring the dovetail of the trailer, particularly under the front of the car, before we get to the jack on one side, the jack stand on the other side. I measured things, it should be high enough for us to slide. front under from there we're going to hook things up to a winch, we're going to solidify it, we're going to remove our brackets and then we should be able to pull it up from there, but I will never buy a car with this bracket again at least I'm crossing my fingers so as not to buy a car that is this destroyed again, so as you can see, the rear part is very crooked, we have an almost perfect front part.
The rear needs to move in a little to the left, so this better work because if it doesn't, our lives will be a nightmare. We have a dolly with wood under that dolly, we hope this will slide the back of the car enough so that wheel can turn. tap the back to center it and well, let's say a quick sentence. I'm Sam and this is the Ferrari polar 3000. stop perfect, yes, that's how it worked, don't do anything you're seeing in this video and especially don't Don't buy a car that says it crashed, it worked on this one.
I can't believe it actually worked. Could you look at how square this is? I'm not sure if I should be really proud or feel really silly, but either way, the Ferrari was finally backed into the trailer and all set up and ready for anyone to work on, we're here right now at Costco, we've got this halfway of price because it's destroyed, I have to go, I have to go, so listen, take it. I'll see you in your workshop in a couple of days. You probably already have it fixed. You can pick it up in three days.
Okay, that sounds great. I think we came to the right place. I see Ben there working. his Ben's Mustang that wasn't ridden at all, that's right sir. I'm actually making a custom bumper for the car, it looks great, it looks like a real car, unlike the last one that I cut in half. Hey, that was an accident. the first prototype, you know the car companies, you know they would use a couple of Protos. I agree with you, no, but this one is going well. Definitely worth saving. In fact, I also robbed your rooms. Do you like it.
You like how they fit. The car, the wheels look very familiar, do you remember where these Aston Martin wheels came from? I think they look great on this black mustang. I think they'll go well because the car will probably be Nardo gray, so I think. they'll stand out, the only thing I don't like about them is that they don't really have lips, you know, the tradeoff is just I don't know if that's positive or negative, what is that? The positive trade-off is Not that I don't know, but the best part about them is the price you got them for, free, free, kind of like labor.
Oh, that car, guys, I don't even know where to start with that car. making a trade deal the wheels for a complete

rebuild

of the Ferrari, okay Ben, enough about this mustang, let's not really talk about the Mustang anymore. I don't even want to talk a bit about that Ferrari in the background if anyone is wondering how. Ben made millions so he could afford nice things like a Mustang with no engine and a McLaren, those are Nissan sentras, wait, I have one, two, three, four, five, what's the purpose of all of them, we'll see, okay, I'll tell you.
I bought that car right there, it's like your fast Ferrari at the auction and I was like, "That's a good deal, I paid 1500 for it and it came here and the engines were pushed against the firewall, but it's a car with good parts." So I bought another one to use on that car and then I put a bid on that car for 300 and I won that car, but hey, the car looks good, the good thing about this car, I like that all the bodywork is good. It's not destroyed, you know, the main area is just the suspension, a fender, a hood and a bumper, like on some cars, you get the whole front end torn off and you have to find a lot of things, almost everything is here, you know , mostly. yeah I'm at McLaren like everything was ripped off so you didn't even have a good starting point hey that car turned out good it turned out really good we'll get to that in a second so explain to me this is the bad corner here I noticed a little bit of this here I didn't notice this until you removed that section, take off the fender liner and I love how they use bolts that look like they're from Ace Hardware, they very well could I've been in a moment because you notice something else about this car that you definitely I didn't notice.
The car used to be gray. They did a complete custom paint job. You can see here where they were scraping it to paint it and right here. I can see how they did it and it's already taking off. Wow, yeah, I mean they did a pretty good job because like on the Interior right here, and another thing I've seen was these bolts are painted and they're not supposed to. It can be painted, you can see the rubber bands here, it is painted and it is already peeling off. Wow, let's be real, the hard part here okay, the hardest part is going to be this sway bar right here, you can see it's pushed, it's not pushed, oh yeah.
See, see, see how it's sitting, uh, and then on this side, I had no idea if there was any problem in the back. Do you think that had anything to do with it?with this stop? That was me, that has nothing to do with the accident. let's go back to the front Okay, so in this front corner I'm seeing more things because you've taken them off a little bit. I'm seeing a crack here, a crack here, uh, how bad is this kind of thing? What are you going to have to do? purchase, what are you going to have to replace?
Can you fix any of this? Well, most of the things on the front I can't repair like that. Here we can just solder everything back into place. It's all just aluminum so just put a weld on there, well they're straightening it of course, and then this bar here maybe replace it because it unscrews right there, but I don't know how hard it is to find these parts because I tried to find some and you really can't find much on these cars and they want outrage like for this little panel here, just this little thing that's welded to the car, they want like three thousand dollars, yeah, and it's a bunch of little ones just tube square or whatever they call it, I know it sounds funny, but they call it a square tube, aren't you crazy about these things?
It's absurd, that's why I brought you the car because, like you did with the Lamborghini, we made five thousand. make dollars 20 dollars 20 dollars you did it I'm not taking any credit for that, okay, next part, can we get this elevation up in the air so we can check the bottom and see what we're dealing with? This is what I thought. They were going to tell me that it was the hardest part because it sure seems like the hardest part to me. Yes, we already started pulling it. We're using this strap to put it back in place.
Yes, yes, that's actually a good idea. Ben took the leash. Remember? What a great time we were having getting on the trailer because this control arm was hanging low, check this out, he went and hooked it where it connects to the frame, that's where it pays to have 10 years of experience. Seriously, look at this. look at the wheel, there is no movement in the wheel, that's amazing, that's incredibly amazing, that's the kind of job v-tune does, but well, here's the main problem, these old broken coolers, I don't even think this is going to be easy. this right here is just a little bit of damage, let's talk about this as two separate pieces, so obviously you can drill this out.
Am I right in saying that you can get some rivets that are just riveted right there, the center beam will just pop out? that can be easily replaced so we replace this and that's see if it was just this guy you could easily put a new one in because there's nothing else it's just plugged in here that's it basically it's just unscrew it or take it out and then I think which screws into the top, okay, but then this is pushed in a little bit, so what's the solution for the frame here? I mean, basically, just heat it up and put it back in place, come on, do you think you could do that?
Yeah it's easy now when it comes to the oil coolers, you said it was going to be hard for me, that's the hard part, is building one of these. Well, yeah, I don't know that. Intercooler guys specialize in all kinds of different things. coolers, including oil coolers, and they replace my Aston Martin oil cooler for a fraction, so okay, any cooler we have that's damaged, let's remove it, we'll move on, of course, we'll look for used, we'll look for compatible. and if we can't, we will make them custom because many times they will be cheaper than Ferrari, let's pray, look at that fan, look how close all that fan is and I have to ask if it's from the squirrels or the accident, I think it was the squirrels the ones they ran around there, you know, those little hamsters on their yeah, they run around there, man, what a ride and what a car, this is one of those where I'm still not sure what this car should be. finished and that's just from a money point of view, not necessarily from a repairability point of view, everything can be fixed as long as you spend money, that's why you see a lot of

rebuild

s on YouTube where people spend more money on the car than a clean title counterpart would actually be worth and that kind of thing doesn't make any sense we want to do this on a limited budget if there is such a thing with a Ferrari V12 so far I've spent about five thousand dollars but I have plenty of parts for that I bought a bumper, a fender, a hood, those body components are not in perfect condition, they will need a little work, but they are reconditionable.
I bought a complete suspension, a bunch of miscellaneous components and a pair of carbon ceramic brake rotors, so when you consider I got all that so far for about five grand, we're not doing too bad, the starting numbers are coming back well, like we're able to do this and do this for a number that makes sense if you've ever worked on a car, especially one with accident damage, you know, that's like opening a can of worms and you can find a little article, especially on a car like this Ferrari, which will set you back five figures in the blink of an eye, let's hope. that doesn't happen and v-tune already opened this can of worms on their channel.
I'm going to link the video of him above him right now, he's already started the frame and again he looks a little rougher than me. I showed it to you in the initial video, so make sure you check out his video and if you want to see a little more behind the scenes, you should see his brother Yuri in garage 23 when I met v-tune, he told me . that almost everything he learned was from his brother Yuri, so they're recapturing some of the behind the scenes stuff and I hope that's an integral part of making this car whole again because with the experience of both.
I'm pretty sure we can pull this off. I plan to take some trips back and forth with him so I can help him with moral support because it seems like that's what I'm good at. I can't really turn a key or anything like that, but as always, if you want to see updates on the project before something goes live on YouTube, be sure to follow my instagrammer, just hit the link below. I want to thank v-tune. I want to thank his brother Yuri and I want to thank each and every one of you for watching today.
I will see you very soon abroad.
