Holiday Act: This law included a provision to combine Washington's birthday and Lincoln's birthday into a three-day weekend. In 1971, the Washington and Lincoln celebrations finally became a national holiday on the third Monday in February each year, while Washington and Lincoln remained the two most recognized American leaders.
