i quit my 9 5 job one year ago 2022 review...

I just stumbled into business and enjoyed classes, so I kept at it and eventually graduated with a degree in business, then this company, one of the only companies that wanted to hire me, took a chance on me and I'm so grateful for that. because coming out of university I also had no idea what I wanted to do, so when I got a job offer I just accepted it and was there for about three years. I was enjoying it, but I wasn't in love with it just because I didn't know what. I wanted to do it, but near the end of the three years I realized I wasn't too passionate about it and decided to move on to something else.

Of course, I had a plan in place for the last few months that I was at my job, I was saving quite a bit of money because I realized that I would probably stop being self-employed at least for as long as possible. My wife and I made a big plan to have a huge emergency fund since Doordash and ubereats and all the other delivery apps were going to be the way we were going to make most of our income in

2022

so far. when it comes to saving money, which went so well that we were disciplined and saved a large portion of each of our paychecks to make sure we will last since she also left her job and became self-employed currently we do not save as much money as we made in the months before we left our jobs, we actually lose a little bit of money right now every month just because we're trying to build our business, but we have a huge emergency fund that we're taking out of all the cash we had accumulated and so we are still drawing from that, we are not in debt or anything else, we are just losing a little bit of our net worth to hopefully build something bigger in the future as my wife and I are working to develop this business, a big part of this business is the delivery of our YouTube channels. a big part of our plan to make money in 2022, but I'll get to that in a moment because YouTube is hopefully more long-term than the delivery service.

When I left my job at the end of 2021, I had around 700 subscribers on this YouTube channel. I hadn't made a single cent, you have to have 1000 subscribers on YouTube before they start paying you, so I hadn't reached that threshold yet, which means I was leaving my job to do something that was going to pay me zero. dollars and zero cents, it was a great plan that we had and it was in the works for months before we made this decision, we knew that if we worked very, very hard on YouTube and we would no longer have to work 40 hours at our jobs every day.
The week we knew we could make some money, we also had another YouTube channel at the time and we still have it today, but at the time I think we only had 100-200 subscribers so we weren't making any money from that either. I didn't make a single cent in advertising revenue, but also from sponsorships, when companies pay for me to advertise on my channel. We currently had no brand deals in sight for that so yeah we were making absolutely nothing on YouTube and I'm excited to tell you that in this year 2020 we have made some money so it definitely helps when you add in all of our other sources of income also with sponsorships.
I know it's a little annoying for the viewer to have to sit through that. especially when it doesn't relate to you at all, but I hope you've seen on this channel that I do my best to only accept sponsorships that benefit you as viewers, so yes, I will get paid for that, but I also hope you can . Benefit from signing up for an app or website that is promoted in one of these videos and I know a lot of my viewers here on this channel are delivery drivers so of course I'm going to talk about it, it was a great part. of my last year since I left my job, this was the plan from the beginning, from the time I left my job until now, was to be a delivery driver so I could make as much money as possible being an independent contractor working for own account.
We're on the road completing as many deliveries as possible so we can afford to do things like move into our new apartment after we've moved out of our old one. It has been a unique experience, as relying on deliveries generates income for most of our money this year. It's definitely been challenging and a little stressful when you're working with apps like Doordash ubereats Point pickup instacart GrubHub, all of those. It's been much more stressful to rely on that income now than before I quit my job and just drove. part-time when I was driving part-time I thought, "wow, I have this salary, I'm making good money, so I don't really have to worry about it, okay if I just make like 20 bucks in a few hours today?" I'm doing Doordash, it's not a big deal, but it is now, so sometimes I get a little angrier on the road when things are pretty slow.
I know many full-time drivers can relate. To what I'm saying, looking back at the delivery goals that I set for myself in the year 2022, I was able to reach the amount that I spent twenty thousand dollars, we actually exceeded that by at least twenty-five thousand dollars in Revenue from delivery driving throughout the year , yeah, it doesn't seem like that much for someone who is a full-time driver, but I'm not really a full-time driver just because of all the other things I'm doing to make money. but that's a significant amount of money that I'm happy to say I made while I was in my car and I was also filming videos for you to enjoy, we have delivery driving, we have my YouTube channel, but also something that I mentioned in the introduction of This video, I have become a part-time world traveler.
I love getting out and exploring our world now that I'm independent of an office. I can take time off from driving deliveries and occasionally just go exploring, that's what our Other YouTube channel is about traveling to these different places and it's been such a wonderful experience, something I won't regret at all, although It's a big part of our expenses, traveling is expensive, but I thought it's worth it. It was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and my wife to do something like this before we had kids and before we paid the mortgage, not many people can do this when they have office jobs, like I said, it's very, very expensive to do.
This, that's why we're trying to build an entire business around our lifestyle. That's what I want our videos to focus on the things we are doing and also try to help the viewer in any way we can. any advice or suggestion on how to do something better, how to make more money on this channel. It has been a lot of fun to share that experience with many more people and seeing the positive comments on the channel has been great, of course there are difficulties. Now that I'm self-employed instead of having an office job, it's been a lot harder than I expected.
A lot more work has been done on this since we took on this business that we're trying to grow more seriously in these last few months. It's simply an ever-increasing effort to make sure we can put out the best quality videos possible and also, in the end, develop everything we need to be successful for years to come - one of the main reasons I left my First First of all, my job is because I didn't like working very much. I thought that by quitting I would actually be working worse. That is not the case. I work a lot harder and I would say I probably work about twice as much.
I work now in the office only because of my added responsibility now as a business owner and when I was just an employee in the office I could leave as soon as five o'clock rolled around and I wouldn't have to show up. getting up or thinking about work until the next day, that was something I miss, but I wake up excited every day because I have my own business and the added responsibility kicks me and says no, you have work to do today and that In It's actually something I'm really excited about because I really didn't think I'd be passionate about any job I've ever had in my entire life.
You know, when I was in college looking for that opportunity and now I absolutely love what I do. Since I'll be posting this video in the New Year 2023, I thought I should also share some things I'm looking forward to in this second year since leaving my job. I hope to make more money on YouTube than I did in 2022. I'm going to work very hard to bring you as many great videos to enjoy on this channel and my other channel, but on this channel specifically I want to make a lot more money this year, no It's a matter of greed.
Just think that if I put a lot more effort into these videos and really make content that I'm passionate about and videos that the audience will enjoy, I really think my income will grow from the delivery driving aspect. It may not deliver as much. I've been thinking about this a lot and yes of course I want to deliver because in 2022 that was the majority of my income and I still want to do it, it just seems like the best way to do it. some quick money right now because you can go out whenever you want and you can make just twenty dollars here ten dollars here out of 500 in a day maybe six hundred dollars in a day you can really choose what you want to do you have a goal And go ahead, that's what I really love driving deliveries, but I may work less because I'm focusing more on providing the best videos I can.
That's not a guarantee. I'll still deliver a lot, but that's just my current plan. It's been great watching my channel grow from 700 subscribers to 7000 subscribers and I know that each of them is a specific person in mind that loves watching these videos and wanted to see more so I can't thank you enough for watching and especially watching this video see you in the next one
