Apr 01, 2024
oh hello fellow miners and craftsmen, good times with ren here and welcome back to the wonderful world of hermits and crafts, where it feels quite strange to have good times with a

scar

right now. Okay, this is going to get a little complicated, but let me try. and let me explain here, there is a perfectly reasonable explanation for why we wear

scar

skin in today's episode, basically this weekend at a charity livestream for sos africa, some of us hermits made a deal that if We reached our charity goal for the broadcast. We'd have to swap skins with each other for the next episode of Hermitcraft and, well, as you can probably tell you, the Hermitcraft community came out in full force and not only hit that £100,000 goal for SOS Africa, they smashed it completely and that.

It means, in a nutshell, that we have some good times with Scar today, although fair warning to everyone, this episode will be all over the place because half of the episode was recorded before the charity's live broadcast. it was recorded later and some of it was recorded today, which is technically later and the timeline for this episode is a little messy, but I'm going to do my best to have some good times with Scar for as much of the episode as possible. Before we continue with the episode, I just want to say a big thank you to Green Good Times Wiscara and Bwo who joined us for the livestream charity event this weekend.

Details about the SOS Africa charity and what we managed to achieve for them all the links will be in the description box below but for now let's get into the making of herma okay my friends and I guess you're supposed to Let's have some good times with Scar? In this episode we should probably try to act like good times with Scar and do a couple good times with Scar, so I guess the real question is what would good times with Scar do on a typical day on the Herma Craft server? Oh me. I know why we start off with some perfect kinetic damage and after a couple of derpy kills to start, if I were Scar I'd probably head to the drilling operation and power things up over here, get this drill to dig. until uh, can someone remind me exactly what we're drilling for here?

I don't know, but this doesn't seem like a very stable machine. Oh my goodness, there are definitely some health and safety violations in this business. Anyway, what kind of place is this, and yes, we should probably stay away from that creeper, although Scar would probably die and of course it wouldn't be an awesome day on the server without a visit to the theater in Aqua Town, oh bravo. bravo encore a magnificent show in fact we want more we want more we want more and of course after a long day of mining and crafting in the wonderful world of hermits and crafts, what better way to rest and relax than with a relaxing bath in heated water. pool on top of a huge building I created in an extension of the business district I

created.
My goodness, Scott has done quite a bit on this server guys, it is an absolute honor to be the man who today I must say takes up the interviews with the cyberdogs and citizens. this is ren diggity coming at you in another

hermitcraft

minecraft episode welcome back my fellow soldiers for hire from across the galaxy to tattoo rain valley and i know exactly what thousands of you are thinking right now rain diggity dawg latest episode this was a desert and now suddenly there's a sprawling

city

, what the hell did I miss an episode? What's going on here?
Well my fellow Minecrafters, I have to be honest with you over the past few weeks. I've been struggling with the final design of Tatiran City and I had some trouble putting this episode together because a lot of my initial designs for the buildings in the

city

, I don't know, just weren't working, they just weren't attractive enough for me and like this This is my first time trying to build more traditional style Minecraft stuff on a mega scale. I've been a little out of my comfort zone because I'm not very good at traditional Minecraft building styles and I needed to spend a lot of time.
I spent a lot of time off-camera discovering some designs I really liked, practicing some builds, and trying to make the town prop match the vision I've had for it, uh, well, since we moved here to the valley, Italy , it's raining now. The good news is that guys, as Minecrafters, we have an incredible opportunity to not only learn from each other, but also to be inspired by those of us who are perhaps a little better than us at a certain style of building we are trying to do. in our Minecraft worlds. I'm sure many of you take a lot of inspiration from us hermits, for example, and in your own worlds and on your own multiplayer servers, you use a lot of the inspiration you get from our builds in your own worlds.
Hermits do exactly the same thing, and while I struggled with the initial design of Tajiran City after researching and reviewing a ton of Star Wars-inspired builds that have been made by countless Minecrafters around the world over the past few years, I was eventually I was able to get some great inspiration from a master builder on the Minecraft planet who's been doing an exceptional job building Star Wars-inspired things in Minecraft, so a big thank you to the Minecraft planet for a lot of what you see here. in the city. from Tattoo Rain was inspired by his amazing tattoo template on the planet Minecraft and I'm really happy with how this whole place is turning out and honestly making all these buildings was a little boring and a little complicated and I really couldn't.
I found a good way to put it in a video format that you guys could enjoy, so I decided that you know, we're going to lay the groundwork for Tattoo Rain City and we can start working on the details together instead of making a building at a time. at which point you know it's not really what I like to do in youtube videos so here we are in the sketched version of the city of tajiran and I would like to start today working on the roads of the city, I think the buildings They look great, but without a decent road network it won't feel like a city, it won't feel like it's inhabited and I think creating an awesome road layout and block palette will really help bring this whole place to life.
So friends, I hope you have a tasty drink. I hope you have some snacks on hand because we have a lot of work to do this week with the goal of finishing another major project here at our Star Wars-inspired base for season seven. Honey, today we're cooking with gas, friends, it's the next day in real life, Cyber to Dogs and I have fantastic news for you last night on the live stream. We made incredible progress on Tattie Reign and I's street design. I can't wait to show you what we came up with, but first of all, we're here on the wall of planet Tattoo Wren because, before I forget, I'd like to give you an update on what's going on with our storage situation on the Planet Wall, of course, we have some huge projects still open for the season, one of them being our self-sorting storage system at Renpros Fortress, and over the last two weeks while working on the city addition, Rain , I've also been working a little bit to finally resolve our storage situation here on the server and by the way, have you noticed any kind of crazy rabbit infestation in the hangar?
What the hell is going on here now? Why are there so many cursed ones? rabbits everywhere, jeez, eddie husel, at the beginning of the episode, you may have noticed an absolutely monstrous chest monster getting ready here in the city attaché square, uh, along with that, we have some mobs here of two, Of course, man, this place is extremely dangerous at night. I am very sorry for the Iranian Tats who live in this city, but let's not worry about that for now, let's get into the rain. Boys from the prince's fortress. I'd love to show you the progress we've made here on our car. rating system and as you can see we have some pipes up and running we have water flow systems everywhere my friends the good news is that this bad boy is currently working exactly the way we wanted and of course it's supposed to emulate the vent on the death star where palpatine is thrown uh in star wars and that's exactly how this will work if we want to store items we'll throw them out the vent just like palpatine plummeted to his doom and in a moment we should be able to see those items, okay, let me try that demo again my friends, so that Palpatine is thrown into the vent as if he were a palpatine, being the items we want to store, of course, and if we can actually land this time like a normal human being.
We should see those elements going up the central tube, yes, there they go and they will join the network of aqueducts that will surround each of the modules of our storage system. Excuse me zombie, I'm trying to give a demo here dude, geez, anyway, we can see the elements going guys Ryan, and these filters will of course suck the elements when they get to the right place if they don't get to the right place in that module. They will travel to the next module and continue surrounding these acrobats looking for the filters they belong to and once they find their home in the classification system, they will be stored inside shulker boxes and well, that's one of the reasons.
I've been collecting all the shulker boxes we currently have on the server and storing them in the city center, derp uh oh, what a way to start recording for today, guys, listen, it's around eight in the morning, right? OK? The brain isn't firing on all cylinders, but we persevere and keep going, I managed to collect all my stuff after that stupid death and, yes, the storage system is ready to be populated with shulker boxes, guys, which we need to get too. All the filters are set up too, so we'll probably do all of that in a live stream, but before I show you the ways, as you can see, we've made some progress, I also want to take you to the cantina because at the beginning of the episode, you might Have you noticed all these strange things here.
These are the remains of the final four or five cities that we attacked in the broadcast a couple of weeks ago, it was a few days after the last episode aired. my channel and as you can see we managed to get an absolutely insane amount of loot from those final cities and by the way we didn't die either which was fantastic, it was an extremely lucrative final flop and the reason we made it to the end. a full flow is because we needed more shulker boxes to populate our self-sort storage system, guys, we need about 450 shulker boxes, uh, to get the place fully loaded and running, so between that end that's breaks there and I spend, you know, a few. hours collecting each of the shulker boxes we have on the server here in the city center.
I think we're getting pretty close to activating the sorting facility once and for all, which is fantastic news, but we'll have to wait for another episode because today working in Tajirin City and the guys last night on the broadcast, oh my. mine, we made incredible progress and I want to say a huge thank you to everyone who attended the broadcast. I got so many amazing ideas from the chat during that live stream. and I think we have created a really amazing design for the cities of the city of shabby rain. Here, take a look at this from this angle.
I really feel like this is starting to come together pretty well. I mean, we don't. We have a lot of details and stuff on the buildings yet, the buildings are just in their foundation phases, but we worked a lot to choose a very interesting block palette for the streets of Tattoo Rain. Let me take you here, this is where we set up our block palettes, so essentially these are the blocks we're experimenting with in this road layout, startingfrom the smooth stone and ending in the darker color here in the brown wool, but it's been a bit complicated.
A challenge to build this road, to say the least, especially since we wanted to try to make this road look like it was still part of this desert. You know, the city subject to rain is built on a desert, which means that the roads are probably made of compressed sand that's how I see it well, so when I look at this block to me, it looks like sand that has been trampled by travelers for decades, it's been trampled into a kind of compressed clay-like sand and then decades after uh people in tajiran walking up and down the main street here that kind of dry sand has cracked and it's because So we have chosen this texture running down the middle of the road.
Now the interesting thing about this texture is that it is not as easy to achieve as you might think because the only way to obtain this type of cobblestone texture in sandstone is by placing stairs in the middle of the road. upside down, so yeah, we spent quite a bit of time on the stream last night, basically putting hundreds of stairs upside down and we did it. to lay out the road to the sort of cantina base, uh, but yeah, there's still a lot of work to be done here to complete these roads, guys, as you can see, we still have to make the roads for most of the cities, so I'm thinking now might be a good time to hit this bad boy in a mini time lapse and I'll spend the next few hours here on the server just doing some roads and, um, yeah, at the end of this, hopefully, the streets Tajirin's will be less orange, less wacky and we can start working on one last thing I'd like to get to in today's episode and that is putting up a couple more buildings behind the hangar here, but Friends, first things first, Let's build some damn roads, okay?
And there we have it, my fellow raintroopers from across the galaxy, after over a year of work here on the edge of the hermit-infested jungle, we finally have an inspired Star Wars. mega base that started out as nothing more than an emperor's beacon on a mountain and has blossomed and blossomed into probably our best base ever created on the

hermitcraft

server and if the city attached ren darth vader's fortress jabber's palace the sandcrawler jawa thai fighter hangar bay and mustafari biome are not good enough. I'm not sure we will ever see Pamela alive again my friends, one thing is for sure, although this is a mega base we can all be immensely proud omg does she look amazing?
Welcome. I returned my fellow red soldiers from across the galaxy to the streets of Tattoo Ren and well, it's currently about three days after the charity broadcast, so we're currently in the present day, although the charity broadcast aired about five days after that. The last time lapse was recorded and the intro to this episode was recorded yesterday, although it was at the beginning of the episode, but now we are back to the present and because the live broadcast happened three days ago, we have to disguise ourselves as a scar. the rest of the episode even though we weren't scared for most of the episode because half the episode was already recorded before the charity guys are you aware because I was just completely baffled?
I have no idea where we are on the timeline. All I know is that the streets of Tattie Rain are finished and look magnificent, we're going on a tour, so where do we start guys? I mean, we're looking at a good couple of weeks of work here and there. There are a lot of sweet details there in the city that I want to show you, well, it may take us a little time to get through them all, but, yes, from up here in the emperor's fortress, guys, I must tell you that this is More or less the vision from the barrage of tattoos I had when we got here at the beginning of the season answering the call of renpra, you remember that and I've always had this vision of a Tatooine city here in the desert and for the last few weeks I've been working very hard to try to bring that vision to life and you know, we did the cantina in the last episode which really inspired me to continue this project, I think the last one. segment we were working on the roads in the time lapse and in fact since then I have done an incredible amount of detail work on all the different buildings in the different houses here and especially on the streets themselves, very happy with how the streets.
You look nice, dusty, tough, cracked and well, exactly how I imagined the tattoo would look in Minecraft, of course those of you who were at the charity stream this weekend were basically here for the grand opening of the tattoo. Rain Town Center over here and this is where we hosted our amazing charity event for SOS Africa. I still can't believe we reached that goal guys, absolutely amazing man, another big thank you to all of you who made this happen, I mean, amazing, but um yeah, it's a huge honor that my friends came to that amazing charity event and we were hanging out here in Tajiran and you were all here with us too and what an amazing event it was and uh, well, but From then until now and many days before, as you can see, I have been working very hard in this place and one of my favorite parts of this whole city, here are these streetlights, I'm going to give you a moment to try to figure out what's supposed to be right, think about the phantom menace, episode one of Star Wars, yeah, this one It's one of those autonomous robots or whatever they're called, you know, the little repair robots that run around garages and do repairs. pod racing and all that, except these guys don't fix things, these guys are light bulb robots, okay, so their head extends out of their body, so when the sun goes down, you know, they're move their neck and they turn on the light bulb and Of course, when the sun comes up, their neck retracts into their body and they go into hibernation mode, just like they do in Star Wars.
You know, when you hit their head, they go until I cut them off like a ball or whatever. and yeah, for some reason I can't get this nerdy vision out of my head of when the light bulb goes out on one of these robots, its neck and head retract into its body and it wobbles, you know how they wiggle. to the garage to get it repaired, you know, it needs repair, it needs repair, it needs repair, uh or something, uh, yeah, listen guys, this is a Star Wars bass, we gotta embrace the Star Wars shame, okay , and speaking of shame, I just realized how ridiculously handsome I am today oh my god scar yeah look at these muscles glistening in the sun a tattoo rain oh man ladies gentlemen everyone in the middle is having lamb babies I mean, I think I could line up myself you know what I'm saying damn scar look amazing I kind of want to hold on to the skin maybe I just held on to the skin under my own skin when we put the skin back on the scar maybe I'll hold on to the muscles, do you know what I do?
I'm saying muddy anyway distracted by scars muscles let's keep talking about the city here guys and well I want to tell you a little bit about my way of thinking when it comes to buildings and all that so from up here on the sand tracker you can see a lot of different buildings, most of the buildings are residential buildings. This is where the workers who work in the industrial sectors of the Tajiran Valley live. This is where they live in all these little houses here. There are a couple of houses that are more elegant than others and we have a couple of other interesting buildings here we have like a prison, I guess down here at the same entrance, you know, from this tunnel all the workers return from work to the city.
So you know there can be some nonsense and all that along the way and well you know those hooligans get thrown in jail I guess and this is the main street of the city and I really tried to use the light bulb robots and the red . tarps to frame the street. I wanted the street to look very long, even though it's actually not that long, and the way we did it is we have the street wider here and a little thinner at the end so it creates this illusion that the street disappears. in the distance and as we walk down the main street, of course, we have all these residential buildings at the end of the main street, we have the canteen.
It's the heart and soul, the rain of tattoos, this is where everyone gathers after a long day of work in the factories to come drink a blue juice and relax with their friends and listen to sweet music played by some aliens and yeah , we still have a There is a lot of work to do in the canteen, my friends, everything is fine, listen. I wanted to catch you up on the progress in the city before we continue because before you know it, I would have completed the entire base without you, so let's continue. On the tour here, huh?
So, yeah, we've seen the main street, we've seen the downtown around here, of course, this will be some sort of municipal building, maybe like a courthouse or something, and there's still a little bit. of the work I want to do here um, I'm not really sure what kind of buildings to put here next to the Jahwas palace, we still have a little bit of space to work on here, which will be kind of interesting, but one of the things I'm really looking into I want to focus on maybe for the rest of this episode is on the back of uh crappy rain um right now it looks a little flat.
I feel like the city skyline needs a little help. in the back, especially if we look at it safely from down here, just as we walk down the main street as the sun sets and we can see the place at night. I want something back there. I want something in this gap, uh, it feels a little flat on the back, so I kind of have an idea for this. I've already laid some foundations here and what I'd like to do is potentially build some. Kind of a Jedi temple here in this larger area and then some other kind of temple building here, but I want them to go up quite a bit into the sky, so when we look back across the city from this side of the city, We'll see those temples rise and those temples are going to help frame, complete the framework of the city just as we have those buildings on the horizon here that will frame the city once and for all and, my goodness, this place looks amazing for the night, right, we have Jabba's paddles glowing in the background, look at that across space, of course, we have uh renpra fortress right up there, past the municipal building, past the courthouse as we go. the city streets and yes, the ratty rain rarely comes alive at night, guys, I mean, we have the factory up there, looming over the city, reminding everyone that they have work to do.
Oh, by the way, I completed the cliff here, I completed the mustafari and the terraforming of That now the sand crawler looks really cool up there and, you know, the ratty rain is now completely framed in the back. Here you know, we're talking about framing, we'll check this out, the city is framed by this beautiful cliff and everything. The lava around here, of course, despite all the lightbulb robots scattered around the city, it's still incredibly unsafe at night, its creepers, they're zombies, there are Tuscan raiders left, right and center here, Guys, it's actually kind of scary down there, uh. in the middle of the night, but let's go to the rainforest fortress to take one last look at this thing when the sun goes down, I mean look how beautiful the city is from up here, you've got the lights shining down on you from In different houses you can almost taste the dust blowing through the streets and you know that all kinds of crazy things are happening there in the cantina. in the tattoo city you are in and of course we must also mention the Thai fighters from Renporough sitting in the hangar.
Oh man, it really brought the room together, reminding us that this is a Star Wars vision we've seen for many months and, well, countless. We've managed to manifest hours of work into Minecraft and I'm so proud of this build so far guys, I think it's turned out absolutely magnificent. I hope you guys like it too and, uh, I'm sorry you missed a little bit of the construction side of things. but I really hope you enjoyed watching the transformation of this place from what was just a desert, some tabletop biomes, to a Star Wars universe that we can be extremely proud of.
I mean, I love logging into the server every morning because I can come and hang out here and, well, the Star Wars nerd in me, the 10-year-old Star Wars kid in me, just does it. absolutely love it, it's just, oh man, they're the best, well, guys, the ones that will do it for today's episode and before us. Come on, I just wanted to thank you all once again for your support during this weekend's charity streaming event, whenyou exceeded the objective; Not only were we able to fully fund immediate pandemic relief for thousands of South Africans as winter approaches this year.
It will also finance the development and construction of a new education center near the city of Cape Town, equipped with an industrial kitchen that will feed thousands of people each week and help educate hundreds of children living in poverty until the secondary school level. Over the next few decades, you have not only had an immediate impact on those who need it most in South Africa, but you have also secured the future of hundreds of children who would otherwise never have had the opportunity to succeed in life in my name. and in that of my family. beautiful country of South Africa, no words will be able to fully describe how grateful South Africa is for your help.
Thank you very much guys, we are changing the world block by block.
