I waited a long time for a new race track, the weight was worth it because it is a beautiful facility. Here are the points for this third race of the Pennzoil season. Interestingly, look who is on top, Jeff Swindell, even though his brother Sammy has earned more. money than anyone, he's not in the top five, in fact as we move to the next chart you'll see he has six because this is a system driven by consistency, you said consistency is the key to winning the

world

outlaw championship , OK? Horny guys don't send Valentine's dick, except maybe it's West Hollywood, that's another story, but Katie, for you, dear Fred, tell him.

.

He has blocked the channel. the number one machine with three wins in four main races, only his brother has been able to beat him this season tonight in paris, california, slamming, sammy is going for his fourth victory of this young season, bobby charles with him, he is the best driver in the world of

outlaws

. series right now sammy swindell but sammy, you had a problem here before you even started leaving to go filming tonight you had to change the engine, what was that all about? Well, I guess last week we may have broken something in the engine. and we didn't know we had found a transmission park that was broken last week, so we changed it when we got here, we got ready to start it, there was definitely something wrong with it, so we took it out and put another one in that you were leading.
world of outlaws sprint cars perris auto speedway 1997
The race in Las Vegas when that happened and it had to be terribly disappointing because not only did you not get your fourth win in a row but you also lost the points lead, well yeah, that's part of it, I guess you have to finish the races. to get the points and you know the channel lock car was up there, we got a pretty good lead there in four or five laps and when the piece came loose and we knew we had a 24th start. That hurt us in the points and He supported us. We were like 17 ahead now we're 37 behind and that would have to be made up for now that the guy who beat Sammy last week was his brother. jeff swindell and he's standing next to my buddy dave reef, thanks bobby, if sammy swindell is the hottest driver on the outlaw world tour right now, hands down, the second hottest has to be his brother, jeff swindell, you have a whole new combination here, new chassis, new engine.
Everything is working out pretty well, yes it really is, first of all I have to say Happy Valentine's Day to my girls in Memphis. I hope we have a good show for you. The four gold legals work great since we changed the chassis this year. and the engine was with the ford miller, i think it will be an advantage, but i haven't managed to adjust the qualifying setting yet, we are qualifying a little bad, so we will fix it for a whole new year. I pushed for a shot at the championship, I really believe that, so you know we're running really well, you know we're just starting to fall back, you know, sixth, fifth, fourth and first, uh, we'll work on it tonight, I'll which used to be all Kinser's.
Now he has switched to con, so watch out for the brothers fighting tonight. I love when the plan comes together. Look who's in the first series tonight. Sammy Swindell, starting from the inside of row number two. Lance Blevins, runner-up, rookie of the year. 19 year old sensation from Broken Arrow Oklahoma and I'm telling you, Brad Doody, first of all, what do we think of this racetrack? The sun has been beating down on her. It's almost a daytime race condition. I will tell you that it is in very good condition. As much sun as we've had and as warm as the temperatures have been and as many race

cars

as there are here, they're really in good shape.
These guys have done a great job, Bubby Jones and the team here to make this quick, there are 11. The

cars

on the track for heat number one will be eight laps, the top five will transfer directly to feature A and that's something Which you definitely want to do, Brad, you want to avoid those consolation races, especially on a day like today, you know? It's going to get a little more complicated because we're going to start early so you're going to want to get into this and get this over with and then watch the others if you're not familiar with

sprint

cars they're pretty simple with a distance short wheelbase, about 1200 1250 lbs. 800-horsepower methanol-burning 410-inch engines, a cockpit-adjustable wing with this kind of wheelbase and this power-to-weight ratio, these are the hurdles of American motorsports, and they're gunning for the green from the start. .
Doug Clark is no better in the mobile track world. The green race is out, we're underway at the Victor Hensley circuit, the orange car, oh, and we already have one on a loop and Doug is going to have to launch the yellow early, Victor Hensley, the 51, our polesitter spun , no one touched him, which was lucky for him. and everyone else will have to start at the back, although well, it's more unfortunate than you imagine because 51p Hensley towed 2000 miles here from southern Indiana. He just wants to get out of that climate. He just got there and his rear end is right. up there's a little bit of dry dust there and he just lost traction and spun but there was no car damage to any of the cars so they're going to get back together again.
What this will do is move Dave Blaney up. Sorry Lance Blevins, yes, on the pole, actually I will. I emphasize that the point of impact is the fifth position on the track. If after eight laps you are not in the top five, you will compete much more than you. I wanted to do it, yeah, put you in b or c depending on how you classify. You know, we might see two completely different race tracks today. The sun is still high. The sun won't set for 25 or 30 minutes and it will be cold. This is almost the desert and it cools down very quickly, so you might see the crew leaders with a lot of challenges tonight, it's always a challenge, but yeah, when you do that, like you said, the sun goes down, it might go back a little. bit that gets a little bit of moisture back, so they're going to re-read the tires on the cars that come in, they've changed their gear ratios and, I just have to watch it closely all night, Bobby Gerald is with the 21 car, Bobby, well just a note on the number 21 car is actually lance blevins who is up front now as we prepare to restart the seat race last week in las vegas.
His team brought in a driving coach, Tim Green, who was a retired driver, he retired last year, a former regular in the outlaw world and a two-time anti-narcotics champion here in California and he worked with Lance on both races in the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, just trying to give you some advice as we continue to watch the maturation process of young Lance Blevins, who by the way celebrated his 20th birthday. yesterday matcher racing process I never thought I'd hear that word in front curry cutters good job bobby gerald good job driving coaches what's Tiger Woods coming for or here we go?
The yellow ones don't count. Doug Clark apparently didn't. I like to start, someone jumped, oh we have a car that spun and I can't see well, so unfortunately two laps, two spins, the 5c car spun on this one, you can see it just Brian and again he missed it and again he had luck. that nobody, nobody made contact, absolutely lucky, we will be back with shot three of series number one here at Paris Auto Speedway in Lake Paris, California, right after these words, stay with us, Paris Auto Speedway in Southern California, This is the third shot of series number one.
I had two attempts that started on the first lap, we had a spin that took out the yellow cars with no damage, no motor drivers, just a pain on the deck, the best thing is that again Brad Duddy and Tyler Walker from the outside makes the jump and three wide open coming out of turn two anyone for 35 here look at Dave Fellaini with the Laney shot in turn two he got in there in the wet and took a good bite as he takes the lead his car is really working delaney the red car 10 -5 is close to them here at eight number one you have to be in the top five another yellow steve we have another yellow with the car right in the middle of the track between turns three and four dave reef you I think the conditions of the track are explaining some of this, Steve, it definitely has a little to do with it.
I'm here outside turn two now and you can definitely see it's a dry, slippery surface. I had the opportunity to speak with many of the drivers. They say this is a driver's track. You realize these cars may not be going as fast tonight. That's because they had to slow down to reach the curve. I will tell you what will happen at any time. It's going to be a great race these cars are slowing down they're piling up the cream will rise to the top tonight I guarantee it, that's jim garadina who spun between three and four and you realize brad, the drivers that are having The Problems here, four in a row, are not the big names or the experience of the drivers, is what I'm trying to say.
I have that kind of control of the car in almost any condition. I was going to comment that you know what Dave talked about, there's a saying that you have to slow down to go fast on a dry, slippery race track, you have to wait for your race car to be more patient, hit the gas a little. take it easy, drive the car a little straighter and the less experienced guys tend to have more problems you will hear the same axiom in the world of alpine skiing you have to go a little slow to go a little fast the bobby gerald tires are going to be a factor tonight aren't they okay? you know steve evans every time we're going to race on a dry race track, a dry dirt track, you're going to have to worry about the tires.
We are in Sami Swindell's pits and he is always one of the best stocked when it comes to the good years. There are now about six different variations. of tire compounds tonight that the Goodyear guys can choose from, they probably won't have to go all the way to the 62, which Brad Dodie can tell you is the tire you'd use on a one-mile track like Syracuse during the day, but No. They would be surprised if they had to go to complex 40 tonight, which is a very difficult complex for the McCreary guys. There are four different compounds for you to choose from and Steve Kent told me tonight that he wouldn't be surprised if he had to use his hardest tyre, so it's just a guessing game at the moment, it will probably continue to get harder and harder as far as possible.
It concerns the compounds as the night goes on, right, but not only are there different compounds, but there are also different ones. casings of different tire designs that they will turn to to help hook up the race car. Okay, restart for the fourth time, let's see if the blue car, the third car in your photo, Sammy's number one window, can give Blaney everything he is. down down inside 135 grip tyler walker former rookie of the year at spring national

auto

there's a great opportunity for sammy he likes to run high if there's something up there he can usually do well but it's too early for that yes there's nothing up there there right now and it probably won't be, it's just too dusty and too dry, the number one kind of series that's for sure, here it is 35 and 22.
This would be what Jackpot Shield and Tyler Walker Hot Chill go through Tyler Walker in turn three. You see that everyone is hugging in the background. You can see the moisture down there if you look at the racetrack where you see the black. That's where you really don't want to be. It's a very hard and shiny thing, soyou want to glue the right back anywhere. I can see it's brown and with a little bit of moisture, Lance Blevins right now is in that fifth spot, he's the guy that's trying to hold out for a direct transfer from love Tyler Walker 35, look right behind him, yeah, Tyler seems to have it.
She calmed down a little, yes, she was softer than him. Everyone calmed down a little at this moment. Steven just stands up for himself and tries to keep what he has and become a partner. Okay, back, forward, Dave Glenny and sammy swendell, car one and car number 10 and apparently everyone has calmed down a little bit, he had four turns and four attempts to start this race and now he's out of it and everyone's driving with a A little more caution, look there in the front straight. Look at the black one right in the middle of the racetrack, yeah, run through that and then dive all the way down there and try to get some moisture on the last lap for the first 11 cars here tonight in our coverage of fin oil cutting complaining as you pass by a cart on the way back. under one of the third three I'm going to be very careful that's not the way to lose the transfer spot and there's your number 10 winner dave blainey sami swindell runs second in the number one car and that groove should expand as it goes the night, widen out a little bit, hopefully we'll have a couple of passengers dave reese is with mark kinser mark has had a chance to see the racetrack and he's in series number two, what's up? dave, well he's standing down here with me and he took a good look at what happened there in the first heat race and it seems to be a driver's track and I have to take things very cautiously, especially from the beginning, yeah, now Same, the clue is a little difficult to understand, so a guy wants to get there. through the first few turns safely and uh let's let the guys come out and see if we get this max up front he's the defending champion he'll start out of the third in a row he's also got steve kinser so this is our series by kinser. the race coming up in race number two, Mark also won the fall race here at the pass, the only outlaw race besides this one that has been held here, okay everyone stay with us, we have the series Southern California number two coming soon, tnn, eh, okay, thanks.
A lot of people, we'll be back in a few years, we're back at the Paris racing circuit of Southern California, they like to call it cash, like meet me at the patch, they even have souvenir t-shirts that say Bobby has the hate winner number one, Bob, well. got the jump uh on a restart it seemed like that was the key to winning that race Dave yeah the bottom of the track was a little better and we started there and we got a good jump and uh but the car was going I think which was going pretty well, it's very close anyway so we would have been in good shape no matter what.
Now Dave Delaney, tell me a little bit about this race track the rest of the night, how hard are they going to have to keep going? tire compounds um I don't really know, we started earlier, but I think as the night goes on it's going to get easier and easier for them to shine in some spots so I don't think that's going to be a factor, this is tough. Little race track, isn't it? Yeah it's tight, we raced last fall and it was a good race so hopefully we can get to the front of the good race okay Dave Blaney the winner of the first heat race here's the top. officially five of the outlaws world officials blaney swindell jack calden test lance blevins and tyler walker breathe a deep sigh of relief with dave reef steve he is one of the promising youngsters who were able to sneak into fifth place tonight you have that spot of transfer horrible dangerous race track yeah the track got really dry for us and uh we haven't been ready for this all night but I hope we're ready for the main event.
I just want to thank uh aircep and uh ron shaver for our engine maxim. Jerry Russell and my whole team here are going to do a great job and I think at the end of the night we'll be a lot faster and I hope they run with those guys we've been talking to. about tire combinations, what kind of change are you going to make to this race car for the main event, well, for the main event, it's a 30 lap main event and the tires are pretty soft right now, so let's go to have to put some. we'll probably go up to an m40 and we have an m20 there right now, just like bobby gerald said on the m40, it's going to be tough tonight to do 30 laps, but that's a young new face, take a look at series number two, this could be In a main event at a lot of tracks, you have Jeff Swindell and Steve Kinser in the same heat with Danny the Lazowski guy.
This could get spicy. It will be a good series and the same rules will apply. Eight-turn biblical transfer. You gotta like Brent Katie, although the There's a 2 million car right in front, by the way, they've reversed the top six, so the fastest cars are back in row three. Danny, the guy is our cameraman tonight. I wonder how much that's going to cost us. The guy from Missouri starts in fifth position. We have many different angles on these cars with on-board cameras. There's Steve Cantor. You just saw through your photo. The green car 11. 14-time outlaw world champion.
Unequal in any type of motor sport. They should make one more circuit of this half mile. It is quite small. half a mile is actually half a mile, probably on the road off the race track, a big three-eighths to the right and here's the final angle of the car, so if you come out on board the camera, look at this, this is off the rear push bar a little further. to the push part, oh my favorite, that's cool, that's cool, you'll get the seam to work and that's a real man's steering wheel, honey, look at the size of that thing, the big old three-spoke one, probably Cragar's wheel, Brent Kating, some of you may not. be familiar these are the two cars car 69 is used to driving he's getting ready to take the green flag well brent canning i have a feeling he'll be up front he's stepping on the gas taking him into turn number one, series number two and look.
In the green car that is Steve Cancer on the outside, Cancer will use this heat race to get into the top five, obviously, but to play with this race track to find the lines right, I was going to say that Steve is the only one who managed to reach the top. so far, but a lot of time putting it in there and uh, the bottom was faster, but it went back to the bottom going into turn one and two, frank hating, there's uh, ginger keller, brett king turns, got too greedy, I think so once saw steve. up funny he tried it himself but it didn't work so the yellow comes out hopefully for the only time here in series number two we're talking about that man car 11 steve cancer let's take a closer look at this incident. turn four there's Brent on the left, your screen slides up, it gets up there in the dust, you can see the dust coming off the tires and it just loops, there's just dust up there and there's no nothing or anything to hold on to and you just turn it over. almost saves it like driving on ice you turn right to go left stay with us we'll all be back with that view and 10+ cameras here in Paris, California we're back on the peninsula, world outlaw competition on the lake, Paris, California. a good crowd available considering this race started at five o'clock west coast time, there's Steve Kinser, he'll guide you through the restart of this series number two, we saw that overhead shot of Danny Lesoski on the onboard camera, There were many interesting things. and that kid I think we're going to use him all night he's going to be bad lestowski you have to stay in this race you can't leave with that camera you should go very well next time that's the indication we got from the beginning duck clark this shot right here brad if you look at the bottom right of your screen welcome we'll do it another time because they're on it's steve cancer king of the outlaws and he messed up last year with his cousin but he like he could be on that throne behind the double zero card jason statler in second place jeff swindell is being passed and pushed back to fifth that's car number seven right there with the flames on with a ford engine and jeff was in the situation two weeks ago here live the fans have new

speedway

on tnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn beed to go to the bee did he not yeah yeah she's going to be on board camera danny wassoski off the back of daniel ossofsky's car see him hanging the left front wheel over there that's to get the la transferencia trasera derecha gana some weight, you see Steve, the left front wheel is not going to burn, trying to be as tight as possible, they stay as tight as possible to the bottom of the race track as they can use all that moisture, let's see how high in four does Steve Cancer go. he's just testing out this race track look at the league steve kenter has the number 11 car with the double zero car it's you it's unbeatable yeah right now everyone's hugging that ass how wet it is down there well Jeff Swindell He hasn't been able to work with you.
I know he's still hanging on to fifth place. Martin Kenzer is a constant career. It's almost invisible. He is a stealthy pilot who makes no mistakes. He just runs fast, consistent laps in the 5-meter car. I will be very pleased to be there. top five and go to the maid on this temporary tour, yeah everyone just wants to get in and feel the car right now, talk to the crew chief when they get back, look at all their selection and go from there, those first few laps being interesting . We were talking about the reigning one, that's what the last champion is really about, like I said, he's just out there, here's Dave Kenzer going down the remaining target to go to the flag, he's got some traffic in front of him, but I don't .
I think he can catch them again halfway through the lap, but so far this track seems to be holding up pretty well. Mark will go last. Jason Stadler, forming three, took the line and took the spot, so Kenzer wins. Children are second. The kids are second and how about Dodie? I think she took fifth place. Dody should be able to do it this weekend. Dodi. What am I saying? Jeff Swindell. He was a big fan of yours. The dance window may prevent everything from going well. Series three is coming up, we're going to see Andy Hillenberg from Broken Arrow Oklahoma and Bobby Gerald is there with one of the nicest guys I've ever met in this sport, Bobby Boy, he sure is and, uh, every one of these races serial.
It's loaded Andy Hillenberg You're going to start fifth here. Have dry slopes been good to you in the past? Yeah, I don't think we ran here. When it was dry, we've only raced here when it was nice and sticky. Uh, it's going to be a new night for everyone, I think we'll sit back and watch the third series race get ready and get ready to go running. Well, carburetor number two, Andy Hillenberg, is pushed onto the track, the camera is focusing. steve cancer who won heat number two and we'll be right back with more action just an amazing sunset in southern california after a few days of santa ana winds here are the top five of heat number two all the which will go directly to the main a steve kenzer wanted mark kinser jason spallard nice after him danny lazowski and jess lindell find out that dave reed is with the man who won and the guy who prevented the winner of indiana by running in australia and beating them is a Pretty smart move and he's been the The most dominant driver so far tonight was able to pull away Steve What's the key?
Well, you know, we have to start our role as a father, do what we wanted there. We tied the last qualifying and got everyone together at this track before the sun set and the track slowed down. a lot, so we ended up with nine points in the standings, but I felt pretty good on the board, the worst part is or in the heat, the worst part is that now we will start again in the main race, so we got to work . For us, we talked to him a little bit, he's still trying to search and find some lines, but the second place finisher in our last heat didn't have any problems, Bobby, well maybe it's a little problem, some rocks are doing something.
Damage to the racetrack and Mark Kinser, what's happening is this track looks pretty smooth, but there are some rocks kicking up, well, they have hard dirt on the infield and right now, unfortunately, some guys are racing there and I'm as guilty as thenext party and he's dragging some stuff onto the track and throwing it into the car shouldn't be a problem, they'll come later in the main event, that's the main event Mark Kinser will be in as he goes for his first win this year, I'll tell you there are some hitters here in series number three as well, Brad Doddy, yeah, Steve Kent, always runs well here, he's from California, starting in the front row, Kevin Pilot, another Californian, so, Hollywood. herrera there in the second row jimmy carr hollywood herrera johnny herrera who won more heat races last year than any other driver which doesn't make you a lot of money but it means you avoided the fight more than everyone else yeah, well ralph called That Hollywood Herrera seemed like every time we were up to Phoenix a couple of weeks ago, when the TV cameras were here, he always ran well, so we'll see what he can do tonight.
Well, live on TN last year we saw him win fifty thousand dollars on the Kings. real old man from Ohio, he could have gone to Hollywood like cash, but he didn't. He's still a good kid now living in Tempe, Arizona, so that's 2k, Steve Kent on the inside, Kevin Plant, Jimmy Carter, Johnny Herrera, Randy Hannigan's Andy Hillenberg, Hillenberg actually. and hennigan are the two fastest cars, i can see they have been part of the top six. Kent made a big jump, he had a good start, you know, I'm watching, he started to see if he wasn't too good, but it's enough. let him go, he's going to buy that start, everyone backs up on his rack trying to find the line and Hilleberg goes down the inside of the 14 and stays level, I think pushing and pushing, now you gotta do what you gotta do right.
There you have it, Andy Hilleberg, the stp card goes through zero, Jimmy Carr, yes, it sure did, the car went and pushed very badly, there it got on the right front, it gave a big push, it hit 14 and Kevin Highland the opportunity to close, yes, but the 2k the current steve kent looks strong with a nice and comfortable advantage, there is hollywood herrera 47 and the number one who is his transfer place, marine hannigan herrera, is sitting in the fifth position. The winningest heat race driver of '96 doesn't like Bigfoot, he just wants to hold on at this point and not let anyone pass him, okay, well, we have a yellow flag, oh, car down in turn four, the purple 18 by Rick Zeal can.
I don't see what happened, it's just... he spun and he's going in the right direction now and he's the champion of the Southern New Mexico Speedway, but that's not going to get him a cup of coffee here at Southern California with the outlaws, stay with us. 'll be back with more engine back and pass paris

the first ever live television coverage from this brilliant new race track we're proud to have it here on tnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn ste evans along with brad dodie and our guys the pets and we are going to get a good start on that orange cone you can't let off the throttle before the orange gets to the back and it's steve kemp the carpet 2k andy hillenburg number two is shane trying to take it off steve got a good steam kent took a good jump holding to Andy He's in good shape Those two cars are running well Watch this back and forth race Where did Kevin Pilot come from?
Suddenly, he just shot up and walked past Johnny Herrera. maybe not, he must have figured something out because he started on the front row, fell back and is now safely checking out Johnny Herrera now in fourth place, that's car number 47, yeah these guys are moving a little now same when exiting curves. Trying to find a place to hold that right, grab something in a race on a track like this, restarts are critical, that's the slowest lap, when they get back to green everyone is bunched up and generally trying to make something happen. Here's our Leaders Andy Hillenberg just passed Steve Casey.
They are waving the checkered flag abroad. I will tell you that I think this track is not only getting better but it is also getting wider. I think there is more available to drivers as the sun sets and cools down. The white flag is out, one more laugh, Andy Hillenberg, but I'd say Steve Kent has to be tickled to death for a second. I mean, it's a good competition, yeah, you get a little disappointed, you just know someone beats you, I hope you're far away. enough in front, but continue as we talked before, you can't be disappointed, you're in the main, okay, there are 47 johna herrera trying to keep that fourth place, in fact, he goes to the final for third place, he got a little insurance. for johnny herrera tempe arizona you know hillary won his first world preliminary here in southern california at ascot in 1989. so he's also had good luck in this part of the country and in the pits with stevie smith is dave reeve stevie smith will be in series number four coming up what you got mate well steve this is one of the new ones i guess you could call him privateer he is his own owner operator and worked with his dad this year before although it looked like you had been having a Some engine problems during the first part of the season, but you think you have dealt with it well tonight.
That's what we hope for. Everything seems pretty good, but when you get a little faster on the track right now, it's a pretty slippery race track, what have you learned from watching from the seat inside the pits? Well, basically, don't get off the bottom, but we've never worked this car on a slippery track yet, so we hope we did the right thing. gears, it's a fully wound car guys, so it might do well on a slippery track, well, styling the chassis of these cars, the chassis tuning I'm talking about is absolutely a black art, there are so many different ways, hey, here's the pass, right here, look at this, okay, stay. with us we will return with our last race of the night right after these messages we are in california much more in pennzoil world of outlaws action coming from paris california not so far from palm springs about an hour from the ocean and bobby uh, you are talking to bobby hillenberg for the second time today he's getting a lot of television andy hillenbach andy hillenberg the winner of race number three and andy you were able to pass steve kent tell me about that move well he just uh the tires came loose coming out of two of there and I was able keep me low enough to maintain my traction and then he just gave us a run at him and I don't know if I should have passed him or not. but there was enough room so we stopped here next to him and managed congratulations on the win ok thanks andy hillenberg has a place in the main event tonight very talented driver if he has an achilles heel , it's crashing on hot laps at the Knoxville nationals two years in a row here's a lineup for the fourth and final heat the same rules apply and a pair of brothers in this bobby mcmahon and pauline man, head to head in the first and second marlon jones thing there is none more difficult, so I went through the fence in Knoxville all the way into the parking lot and he came back and raced the next night with the same car.
They did a good job of getting them back together and he was, like you said, very tough and here. We're on board with young Joe Garrity, the 3G car and you'll see how tough the ride is in one of these cars and there's one car that's not going to make this series, right? Bobby Gerald, well, Sean Finn didn't. do any of the heat races you're trying to get into tonight's sea main event your car flipped over in the hot laps, they tore off the front axle and the rear and they've done a lot of work from the hot laps to the hot laps. heat. trying to get the 36 car ready for tonight's c main event, a tough break for a young man from Chico California who is really looking to do some good things tonight here in his home state, well it looks like they aren't willing to budge . up I think we're going to get the green maybe one more time and the fastest car in this field is on the outside of the third row and that's because they reverse the top six that would be joe garrity 3g with our with our camera car and right on cue, what a segway, look at this shot, you can see the suspension working, another great show, you'll be able to see this left front tire, how much they steer this thing, look at that and it pans around and shows you the 83. car my hero shows how close these cars get us we got the green game here we go the 88 oh the 15 cars danny chefs what a good move that was he just hit bobby mcmahon yeah donnie got off to a good start he did well From the bottom where's that one humidity again, there goes Stevie Smith testing the exterior, look at this, he will be the only car that goes through the exterior.
Well, CB Smith has one of the most complicated cars in the entire outlaw world built by his father and his crew, as they said, some sort of private team that doesn't use one of the established chassis, it could be a show car, It should be in a display case, but it works so well that they're not going to do it, it's different, there's a fight. joe gertie greg hodnett you got the turned yellow car that looks like the 18 coming out of turn two todd bammer yeah that's todd bammer the 18 car and we had a few laps down you know this eight this car 18 uh his dad owned car number The Muller brothers' 18, it was the Gambler House car when Bobby Davis drove it a few years ago, so they raced again with Todd in the number 18.
The car isn't banged up, they're probably going to go. To kick it off, yes, it has already started and we will join the group behind. Red blonde. You know, if you were in the stands here, I think you'd notice that these cars still sound like race cars, but they have a nicer note to them. for them and there is a very good reason for it, as our Bobby Gerald discovered before, one thing you may notice different about Lance Blevins' car and all the cars with the world of outlaws this weekend at the lake of Paris is the large silencer that is tied to the side.
The race car launcher and his team have opted for a Flowmaster muffler that will reduce the dba level to 95 to 100 feet. Now the state of California requires that all cars have to be this quiet when outlaws run in the Midwest. turn up the volume a bit, open headers, no restrictions whatsoever, now none of the teams or drivers are really crazy about having to have this muffler on the side of the car, they feel like it creates a bit of back pressure and doesn't let the engine works. flow the way they would like but the bottom line is everyone has to do it so it's a level playing field jody I think mufflers are a great idea well actually I think so or not I liked how competitor, there are many things.
Quieter when you're working around the car in the pits and I personally liked it and I will tell you that Jack Roush told me personally that he could make more torque in the corners with mufflers and without it that little bit of back pressure he could handle. Do it and make it work for him. Dave Reef's tires aren't the only concern tonight. Another way to slow down these cars. Get a little better traction by changing gears. There is only one gear in the rear of these cars taking off the gears a bit. they can slow down the tire spin get a little more traction it's called a rear end quick shift the restart is on denny chats with stevie smith testing the outside again that's it now turn the outside if you can get it to left one in turn one the black car 19 with the gold and we have taken out the yellow again just as stevie smith and taking the lead and we hope to get away from him joe gertie that's our boy here doesn't look like any damage uh maybe they just turned it you were going to see well maybe you remember joe had a scary moment a few weeks ago live here on tnn from manzanita arizona where he had a bad fire in fact he got out of the car his feet were even but he suffered no injuries and now for your dance and pleasure lusty, another angle, we're absolutely bragging, we've got them, use them boy, look how close the cars come to not hitting the front of your race car, but again, everyone's very lucky, they're all spinning and no contact and working.
Woody turns on a little more, that little device designed to go around the world, over many races, they can weld, they can pick up engines and place them in the chassis, they can protect whatever you want, working what he told me today, that four engines further. he's going to have 250 engine changes and it's already done for the guys he never counted how many race cars he pushed but he does know how many engine changes he did ok bobby charles you got something on tim tarleton tommy tarleton is the driver of the 21 car tons now. This guy is just a young guy here in California at 22 years old, but last year he impressed a lot of people by winning six main events at Tulare Thunderbolt in a 360 class ofspeed cars that went to 410 and with the commitment of CNN. motorsports i think you're going to hear a lot of tommy tarleton in some of the next few years on our broadcast when they reboot his bobby mcmahon caught by stevie smith yes he really did it he ambushed him outlaw style stevie smith is now back . in third place well stevie tried it they were out it was working for him on the restart without any momentum it gave the popular man a chance to get under him and pass greg hyde's 11 hour car trying to make a move on stevie smith the fact He's going to turn three, but Stevie the Night Kick can stop them and here we are, Joe Gertie, trying to get back on the field, starting at the tail end and climbing aboard with Joe Garrity trying to find your way back. in the top five and that is going to be a difficult task.
You may have seen that he just ducked right as we got away from there, where he pulled on the wing handle trying to get the wing to come back so he could adjust the attack. The wing and weight position on the race car is fine when you slide it back, it goes up in height at the rear due to the angle of the rear struts so when you move the car back it lifts it up a notch. bit. and that helps bolster the back end of the back car, Donny Shots, our leader in the 15 car, one of the world's rookie of the year contenders, well, I'll tell you he's scoring some points right now to be sure. . pulling away from steve's stevie smith he really does stevie smith just didn't seem to have much on the restart and here's the fight for that fifth and final qualifying spot between the 88 car well actually it's four steve it's fourth, okay, yeah, that's uh. greg hodnett and bobby mcmahon there's joe gurdy with one lap to go there's hodnett going inside to make him stick mcmahon got a little high coming out of turn four he let the tires go and spun gave hotnet a chance to get under him and get through there our leader there is our winner johnny schatz gertie doesn't do show a straight away he's going to have to go to b and make his way into the top four if he wants to have a good night here at paris otto speedway okay everyone's down joe garrity returns to the field to work hard for the bee show we will be back in southern california pennzoil world of outlaws series number four the final series is over johnny schatz wanted stevie smith greg honda bobby mcmahon paul mcmahon uh made the cut in fifth place but right now dave reef is with a guy who's a little disappointed donnie schatz the winner of heat race number four it seems like the advantage for you came from the beginning very aggressive yeah you know we're watching a couple of cars and he ran ahead of us and it looks like the fastest place was off the bottom and I knew I had to get my things together and get her off the top quickly and, you know, we were lucky to start there and I think we were fast enough to stay ahead, but we'll see the top five winner move on to I'm Bobby Gerald with a dejected sixth place finisher, well that's right dad, insult to injury.
There was a spot on the board in the front row with Joe Gertie's name on it if he could finish in the top five, but Joe, it didn't work out. that way and obviously you're disappointed because you're going to have to go through the main b and that's not a very good deal, right, it's not. It was a costly mistake, he took us out of the front row. Uh, we're working. alright, I was just trying really hard and I just messed it up, I mean the track is very slippery, if you move about half a lane from the bottom, it's like you're on ice and it's hard, so you know I've got it.
Back at six there but they took five you know it's just one of those things last time we saw this guy in manzanita the car was on fire he still made it back to the main b putting in some cuts now same while preparing for The Pageant tonight I think, and the outlaws don't make excuses, they just admit it if they were wrong, okay, our next race will be the vibrating board right now, let's go back to Charlotte, okay, some surprises, a lot of excitement coming from Paris, California. I'll be back with more Outlaw Racing World in just a few, but we're trying to keep you up to date with everything going on with Daytona this weekend.
Lots of good racing coming up, Steve Evans and Brad Dodie guys. Hey thanks Randy the Viber and Dash that's all about cash is up next here in Paris, California in fact they're hanging around right now and our onboard camera in Danny Lasagne's car shows you that suspension moving up and down, but with all the horsepower in the world you still can. Don't win races if the car isn't perfectly balanced and beat that power on the right rear the day before I briefly took a look when it comes to

sprint

car setups, traditionally the norm has involved what we call a four bar car, They are torsion bars that slide on these.
Two areas at the front there are also two at the rear, the bar slides inside the tube and depending on the thickness of the bar it makes the car stiff or loose depending on the track conditions, it acts like a spring that fits on this. Well, that's exactly what we have with current 1990 sprint technology. A coil over shock absorber by eliminating the torsion bar and torque arms. They save a little weight mechanically. Is there any advantage? Well, I couldn't get a direct answer, though. most crew chiefs agree that on a dry and slippery track the car reacts a little quicker, this could be the way to go, it all depends on driver preference.
When it comes to Joe Gertie, he tries to incorporate the best of both worlds by using quick reaction. roll up the shock on the front of the car while on the rear half use the torsion bar setup okay let's look at the lineup for the fiverr and dash dave blandy and randy hannigan mark kinser jack's son houghton the wild child this could be good remember there is a lot of money at stake for this danny lesoski and andy hillenberg latte there is not a third rate car in this group greg hodden and sammy swindell who came in for a reason joe gertie didn't make that move towards Sammy the board is lucky for him talking about the suspension options, what would you prefer on a track like this?
Well, I'd have to stick with the torch bar. Sammy used the coil-over shocks for years and has now moved away from them, seems consistently faster, but then. you got stevie smith with a coilover car and now joe gertie with coilovers on front to rear torque so coilovers are usually better on a dry slippery racetrack bobby gerald what about the first star, Randy Hannigan? Well, randy hannigan has a 4 bar car, but what's unique is that it is the only hurricane chassis known to exist anywhere in the world right now that is in racing competition. It's a new chassis they are developing for the '97 season in hopes of selling a lot of those. the san jose, california area, so hurricane is randy's nickname and he has developed this new chassis, it looks an awful lot like the maxima, but it's a new one for

1997

on the outside of the front row of the dash as we We prepare to compete.
Guys, you're only going down five laps, your arrival determines where you'll start under the surviving car and it's Dave Blaney out front, Randy handing it to you, look at Lady Fly, there she is, you see Hot Shield and Hannigan there and there goes Mark Kinser. around the outside of the hot shield and Hannigan, can you get him to come out and turn forward, out there, against the ball, he dives down, takes a second handing over his hot shield, goes inside, okay, we're on board, but he's looking back? Behind his car, Greg Hodgnet and Sami Swindell, Sammy Swindell, the dominant driver so far this season, is last and trying not to get stuck, trying to get around the eleventh Honda and he did, they are back in front with dave laney in the vibrant car. and here's the battle for the four-point guy and he made it look easy.
Andy Hillenburg on the two pitches drove Hannigan towards one as he slides high and lets the number one red. Sammy should have the line coming in one. Moisture will have fun coming out of both of you and you will get by from time to time. I'm going to take my hat off to the truck. Our producer Jim Roller before we went off the air, he said: You know Dave Lenny is looking spicy tonight. Oh Sammy. spins sammy spits out three and four to add insult to injury sammy swindell in the gutter spins off the board and that will hurt him plus a starting position well he would show up yeah he was he was pretty far away I think he was alone there's a car behind him him, so it won't hurt him much, but he went in too hard and now he loops right there, look, he turns it on, he stops on the throttle, he's trying to get it going and he hooked over the berm right there and stopped. the engine, but it stalled on the throttle, he tried to do a 360 degree turn to keep it going, but it wouldn't have been any advantage if he had kept it going, it had still been behind, no, not really, and You We know we saw some rookie mistakes that wasn't a rookie in that century, so that's how complicated it is at the entrance to turn number four here, you know, and while they clean up they still have popcorn, if they are the biggest concessions that I had. seen on a race tracker right here on pass it all in the crowd imagine folks, it's 6:15 on friday night valentine's day in southern california, what do you think the freeways and in the pits will look like Are they looking for a little more bite?
It's sammy swindell's cars, bobby's down there, well, they're sipping the tires right now for sammy swindell, maybe in preparation for tonight's main event, brad dodie, you could probably explain better what the tire sip does for Help hook the car dry. race track, okay, what is it, Bobby, if you look, it's just cuts with a razor blade, there are two little knives on that tool he has and it cuts the tire, it does two things, it actually heats up the tire faster, but it also lets the heat come out faster. the tire doesn't blister and that's what it's doing, it's just going around, it will go all the way around the tire, so sammy swindell, after his embarrassing moment, is back at the back of the pack and here's danny lazoski, I started to comment.
Before, if you look at the right corner, the bottom right corner of the screen, Danny's left hand, you see that little stone lever sticking out, which is the wing valve, which is what they grabbed to slide the wing up into. the racing car. It was like a joystick, yeah, let's see if Dave Blenny can hold a command, there's Sammy coming around the outside trying to get around the back, Sammy's got one position trying to get another one, one lap goes, he's tipping the white flag, Sammy will find two. cars is from randy hannigan actually his car doesn't seem to be running too bad, i think he may come in a little harder than he wanted and he lost it and here are his leaders going down to the checkered flag, the horse chestnut bullet that left the front wheel off the ground coming out of four and has whipped them tonight dave blaney in the vibrating car properly wins the vibrating board, you know, he said and the thing is that after his heat race the car felt really good, he thought there would be He has been good no matter where he started and he has proven it right now, so there is the winner of the vibrant race that will give him an excellent starting position.
You know, Brad Dody, driving the No. 28d Bowers Toll sprinter, thrills Ohio fans as he weaves through traffic. with a breakout win and a 6000 payday at eldora speedway that was back in 1983. Brad my man well the way Dave Blaney raced and beat some of the best print car drivers in the world Pennzoil of the outlaw organization, maybe they were wrong. a little vibrant in the tank, what's up with that, buddy Joe? I don't know if they put anything vibrant in the tank that time, but he made the jump from pole position and that's exactly where he'll start now in the main event, so what's up with that, Dave?
Will the pulse be as good at tonight's show when you have that 5m Kinser brand of car on the outside? Yeah, it's a little bit better, yeah, but to begin with, it could go either way, but you know it's going to be. one in the last laps, not the first, so they've had a good time, you know, we had a good qualifying time and they gave us some good starting spots here, so yeah, we have, we just keep the vibrant cars up front. and we see what. They happen to put some pep in the tank, I think just before the start of tonight's show, guys, the soft-spoken Dave Blaney, one of the greatest sprinters we've ever seen.
Well, they are preparing the cars forthe main one that's going to take a little time so let's go back to charlotte katie and randy a little nervous and how about this on keith coppin's car number five happy valentines day wishes his wife and kids but keith can't drive because to the manzanita accident well actually they blew up an engine in hot laps and that's why they are here is the sea lineup anyone you like so far said blanford steve neck tony luthar they are not well known names but they have a good team fred brownfield northwest promoter ago everyone from the outlaws runs to that end sean finn who turned fast laps this is his first race of the night bobby gerald sean finn and his team, crew chief danny burton, had to work very hard, they have all kinds of broken parts here in their pit area from After the accident on hot laps they replaced the front axle, the complete rear end assembly, the front wing and the top wing, now they have them all fresh on the 36 car and are ready to go go here on Sea Maine with more information on the field let's go to dave reef well you mentioned fred branfield from washington, snohomish washington to be exact but we have drivers from all over Vale Colorado that's where sid blanford from marlin jones is the team car, the d1, which is dan oswalt from aiola kansas.
They come from all over to get some pre-season experience here so that when they come home they can run very fast if you're not in the top four after ten laps you're going to look at the wheel support of the 33 car that It was amazing, oh we had an accident on the bend, one, oh I have one right now, you can't see from here what car it was, but it doesn't look like the damage is severe, it should all be falling on its wheels. He doubled the sideboard but let's face it, this is typical under the lights on Friday night c special action, this kind of thing is going to happen.
Want to know if there has been a sprint car race at your local track? Just go to the dumpster on Sunday morning. We'll see all these aluminum wings waiting for the recycler, let's take a closer look at the outside of this rum. Okay a couple of cars get together at the front just group everything together while one car goes up marks the wall they're sitting in Blanford in the middle picks up the 33 picks up the two jay just a chain reaction no one no one could and although that car is lying on its side it still doesn't have much damage yeah, like I said, they dropped it on its wheels uh and it looks like jay burns could possibly pull himself up and go again jay burns really brave guy, I gotta tell you that actually a failure like that is nothing more than a spin in 1987, steve kinser won his fifth knoxville national championship in convincing fashion, beating all but five cars in the 24-car field and defeating runner-up bobby davis jr under the flag a pictures at the knoxville nationals for half a turn on tnn pump rock and roll this is the earliest action tonight 51 victor hensley uh turn the peak two uh another turn the guy just kind of slippery tracks the guy's not used to it andy hillenberg is coming from the third row to go drive by steve kent let's win there's joe gertie in the middle of the screen he gets up and makes deft turns all these turns unfortunately there's no contact and on the vibrant board, two-time world champion of the outlaws expert swindell did two 360 spins high off the low and still wins the highlight reel okay we're looking for a reboot well actually we're starting over with the main event c what we have.
We had an accident right here in the front right away. Awesome, I'm telling you if these things really get hooked one day, they'll fly backwards like a high-end fuel car, almost a knock, dude, they're resetting themselves here. lined up again, yeah, 10 laps to go, didn't get any in the books on that one and the top four finishers tagged themselves on the back of the bee where they try to work, still wait until the target, major, not good being in the sea, unfortunately a lot of guys triedI made a lot of things happen there in the first round and we got together and as you can see by the names in the lineup, a lot of these guys are on the rise, this is kind of AAA ball, in Actually, this could be double the ball, yeah, not much. of experience and they are trying to make it happen right now, this is their last chance to get into the main race and this is not an easy race track tonight, no it is not, it is very slippery and it takes a lot, a lot of patience , like we talked about before, the green is out, Tony Luthar, the number that takes the lead, oh, they're crashing and racing through the corners, they took another turn and they went around twice, that'll bring out the yellow again, use that yellow flag on the stick, that's the one. a d1 car don oswald yes don oswald the sonic car dan oswaldo sorry dan dan i was welcome ok let's take another look at this second incident here in c main you have to look at both sides of the screen at once, a little button on the left side, they're right there getting a little kiss, okay, Todd Bammer got into the back of Fred Brownfield and there you see that Oswald again got loose a little bit and got lost. yes, it seemed like he did it without any help, yes, yes, he just stepped on the accelerator again when he shouldn't have.
I guess you know, we talked a little bit earlier about the power-to-weight ratio of these cars for every pound of weight, let's say it's 1250 pounds, they have over half a horsepower, which means that a Winston Cup car to have this powder weight ratio would take 2000 horsepower, that's amazing, that shows how much fun it is to drive this spring. uh you know, I've talked before about the lack of flywheel and how they accelerate, a lot of guys are going to use lighter crankshafts. Jeff Swindell is working on a new Ford that goes to a 302 block and it is due to the size of the block, but mainly because he has a smaller crankshaft, so they will accelerate even faster.
You know, there's really no minimum weight rule for 1997, he's never been with the outlaws, but now the guys are starting to do all kinds of tricks. Titanium parts. Lighter pieces, spending a fortune to try. Take ounces out of these cars, not just pounds, and it's gotten so expensive that they're proposing maybe next year a minimum weight of thirteen hundred and seventy-five pounds that sits with the driver, that's with the driver, uh, Mixed emotions, many guys. Same thing, you know, annoying, uh, but I think it's a good rule, they have to do something that maybe doesn't, maybe doesn't work, they have to stop it right now before it goes down.
Bobby Gerald, well, Brent Kating. uh I'm going to start on the pole to maybe ask Brent about that, what do you think about a proposed weight rule for the world of outlaws? Well, that's something we've been talking about for the last four or five years. I've talked to Ted. Johnson on that and it's something we're looking forward to in California. I think all the other major types of racing have a weight and the expense of these cars is increasing, so I think it's good that Brent is going to be. in the main b pull and dave reef is waiting with another of the big hitters here tonight dave well daniel we're just talking about the weight issue talking about the 1375 what's your opinion on that well you know, let's get to the point where we have these things so light uh there's a place where you have to stop and the outlaws of the world are doing everything they can to equalize everything and I think it's a good deal by the way we have another chassis change that we didn't do.
Speaking of tonight, he drives a standard four-bar car, but these two torsion bars are flipped differently, this driver tries to bite here on the Paris race track, in fact, it is a black car, well, the conclusion of weight is if you have a 1200 pound car, you have a 175 pound driver, you are right about the minimum weight if they put it on you, which means you can't go any lighter than you are now, so it stops here, That's what they say, draw the line. here, yeah, yeah, this they're not trying to make them add weight or get heavier, but they just want to stop it now before they get lighter.
What Dave was talking about with Dan Lesowski about failure. They call it a failure tube. a longer torque arm on the right front usually has a shorter arm which makes the car a little stiffer on the right front danny always liked what they call the flop flop tube car and has had success with it , the patrick bird trying to get it. That 27th car in line sees the cars rolling around the back right away. Yes, we're going to have one more lap here. I think the safety car is still on the track, but the lights are off.
Yes, he's coming now, so let's go. One more turn and then we'll turn green. A tremendous amount of downpours produced by these wings and here in Paris their real meat and butter class are the second scras, which are wingless front cars, a lot of people like those because you can see the driver. a little better and they slide a lot more, they don't go as fast because they don't have all that downforce, just two different schools of thought and two different fan bases, really yeah, who's to say one is better than the other? You know, I like both ways as far as safety, I like the wing a little bit, yeah, you know, the Portobello has run a hundred races a year and a wingless series to run 100 races, that's what pushes it, I think so , okay, they're going to push it. right now hold the throttles completely on main c, you can do it guys, you can do it, you can make it through turn one.
I'm taking them through it and it worked fine, there was a little bump and bump there, but they. We all made it through his sprint round on the 92nd course we just went around Todd Bammer there is Oswalt trying the outside there were a lot of bounces around there the 18th I almost missed it is Todd Bammer who I talked about before his father owned the brothers number Muller 18 and bobby james had a lot of success a few years ago with his head up oswald is still trying to get that outside job tony littar start some pressure now you have the 27 and patrick burke they close that one and this hospital is way up there it complies two, okay? just four transfers and that's the best race on the track right now is for that four spot which is car 18, Todd, well the lighting here on this race track is absolutely spectacular.
For television purposes, you need so much television and it's beautiful now that we have a curve. you go back there keeps you off the wall yeah yellow is out which is not good news for anyone who was in the top four because they had managed to break away from the group and now everyone will group back together and so on. You know, it's from British Columbia and as our guys in the pits were saying there are cars here literally from all over the country, I think the snowbird weather and also to see this magnificent facility is fine as we try to start again towards the sea of Maine. restart it, that is, we'll be back with more of the world, here's the top five as we look for a restart, the second restart in this c main and Tony Littar has led it consistently, but he keeps getting those yellow flags and he can't.
I don't understand that during the winter circle they can stop in the race with him only six laps from the end, four in the books, the first four transfer the big name to the back of the bb blue Turtle in front, like that, what is thinking right now is just make nice smooth turns, keep the car under him, don't get too excited, let them try to pass you on a track like this, just don't make big mistakes and a guy will have a hard time getting around you, you know? Do you think about the doctors and Dennis having a recreational McDonald horse?
Jim's 50-acre garden that is in this race is an area. Dennis this is his golf course. The spring of the teeth. They call him that guy who's right. Six trying to get under. Fred Brownfield leaving. In turn two, Todd Bammer tries to get the outside workers to slide the way I come out of turn four, but he'll get five. Todd Bammer makes the outside work now that his race cars hit one of the few that passed on the outside. We got a report from the pits just a few moments ago that a lot of the drivers ditching the b and a main are starting to use softer compound tires and you're seeing something here that says to get it right, it's like the plane has talked about before, you know, you know some of these things go off track.
Some of this abrasive stuff that comes off the track turns glazed and isn't as hard on the tires, Bobby Gerald. More about that, well, yes, it's very interesting. I just chatted with Jeff Swindell. He, of course, will be in the main event tonight. Jeff told me that not only will he go with a soft tire, but he will go with the softest tire that Goodyear makes. It's called the 17. Actually, they don't even make that tire this season in '97, but they made it in '96, and Jeff and his team last week, after winning on one in Las Vegas, came up with 22 of those things and They will have a soft one.
Here in the future tonight, well,We just went for a spin with Dan Oswalt, the D1 car, but they're going to check it out. They said that's all. Go home if you're in the top four, go to the pits if not. get your truck home, let's see Maine's over, okay, that leaves just two more races on our dance card tonight, the always exciting b-man and of course the a feature, ten thousand dollars to win, Stay with us, we will return to Soquel Katie. we'll try, we're almost ready for feature b if you're wondering why they marked that feature c a lap early, well it's their discretion, it's kind of a training camp, the event director says it won't make any difference.
In the race result there is a car that spun here guys, you guys had your time on the track so it's really more for safety than anything else. We know that performance B is being prepared before it started. Bobby Gerald had a chance to talk to a guy from the top block from indiana joe gertie the heaviest hitter in the b main is coming and joe is going to start from the second row joe can you get to the front and make it stay and make the feature from the second row? I think the most important thing is in the exit.
You know I'm out, which hasn't been very good, but we made a pretty good move in the heat race there and then I managed to mess up, but let's give it a go. It's a t-shirt, try hard here, but the main thing is that if it manages to stay in the top four, you know, because that's what they take and then we start ninth in the characteristics, so we're going to try hard. from talking about tire compounds joe gertie will be out on the b main with a 33 mccreary on the right rear which is the second softest compound you can go with here is the grid and brent kating might not agree with the statement from bobby that joe garrity is the biggest hitter in the b main because he himself has looked pretty good, sure he started in the front row and brenson at 2 m, the reason for this combined team of al pedersen and brent keating al has two daughters named michelle and melissa that's where you get to 2m as we take the green flag here we go the always dangerous and always tense b feature is the last chance for most of these drivers to get to the a main heck for all of them you mean you have to be in the top four and get your time troll back in turn one, everyone got clean down the backstretch, we have two cars just hooked together like a nerf bar to push the cars around, they missed the jump scared Oh, I'll tell you it's desperate time to look at the suspension working. this track gets a little more difficult with each lap look at the race behind two or three back there he comes here with many credentials he is the obscure title holder in 1996 a tough and tough partnership behind is our leader brett katie the two m car legitimately back one, two, three and four, that's the transfer point right there, at the front of that group, car 31, 31a, brian hodges and he can't hold on to that, it's gertie outside, around car 21, tom Carlton, okay? about car 31 and guardian hodges and guaranty came west with so many hopes good cars good engines good equipment that fire in manzanita took down a little bit of the one i mean problems here we just wish the guy could get lucky he had a lot car spun and turned four, you know, gertie was scheduled to start on the second route, the side of the road spun lining up, yeah, coming from behind, he's fighting for a transfer spot, I think this is Brian Hodges, all three, no, this is the 3x car we have.
There are a lot of trees in this race, Gary Kevin, and that's the situation when you get cars coming from different associations, they bring their number, you have to put a letter there to differentiate between the three or the 27, so it gets a little confusing, Yes, I'm glad you clarified that. Some people asked me that at home why there are so many different numbers and Bobby has more than the 3x card. Well, Gary Gebbing is a driver who also comes out of the 360 ranks, which is kind of like the triple level of sprint car racing. He's from Petaluma, California, actually in Roanert Park, but they race at the Petaluma Speedway and here's the deal with this, if you're wondering why the guy turned around and is in this particular race car. for the first time this season, he is racing for the first time this season and it is his first visit to the Paris Auto Speedway, so there are new combinations all the way around for the 3x on a dry track and that sometimes equals difficulties, so that he got his first spin on his first visit and another thing, petaluma tends to be very sticky and heavy and you can't wobble enough in the car you ride a bike and doing things like that, here they have to do the opposite, so yeah, he I had my hands full.
Well, they'll take a little time trying to sort this field. A lot of guys like to make it work, including Joe Garrity. I know you think of Southern California as an endless expanse of nothing but houses and factories. Earlier today I had the opportunity to participate in something that still had that small town feel. It was a parade in the center of the Paris Chamber of Commerce. The mayor was there. a little marching band here we had the marine color guards and we were doing great, it was nice to see that there is still a little bit of Americana left in southern California, it's not all just this giant megabyte and you know the shriners, what would it be like A small town parade? without the shriners in some kind of motorized car, i'm proud to report no injuries of any kind, a couple of vehicles broken down now, who's the grand marshal?
Look, I'd never been a grand marshal before, so I didn't know whether to do it. the papal salute the rose queen salute maybe mother teresa salutes i just waved in every direction i could, okay, next time we're going to be green in that orange cone in the home stretch to be Maine, finish top four or lose or leave state, you're out of here, this is the last chance. I already had a good run in the 31st when we hit him and surrounded him. Yellow, he put it in the back, so we'll see what he can do with it. 31 Brian.
Hodges there, just kidding, he was running around the outside, yeah, trying to get around white car number three, 31, now he's working on 51, trying to get by it, but now he's got a transfer spot anyway, oh, and he's going to pass by car 51. Joe is making the outside work like he's saying he's the only one up there doing this right now. You know, I think Joe's funny and he said I haven't had any luck on this tour at all outside of the west. I go for it. I'm just determined to try it and, in fact, look how much steeper his wing is.
Steve that most other cars have a severe wing angle which helps squeeze the car and push the weight towards the back of the tires. The straights are long enough here. where you can pull that wing back a little bit, go down immediately no you can't, once you pull the wing back it's almost impossible to go forward again because of the air pressure pushing down so once you you push back you are stuck on a yellow flag, if you back up too much and the car starts pushing you have to wait for a yellow flag to slow down for the wing to move forward again.
Our last transfer point is the yellow 51 car and the stretcher goes for a Second Courtesy, playing like that is a feature, wow Joe, you know, Bobby talked a lot about the McCurry tire, like some kind of Black Blaze racing frame like this. The Mccrees are a really good tire. Well, I'll tell you who's fighting him. Outside of Joe Gary, that's the zero car, but I don't think he lifted it for good last weekend at the new Las Vegas circuit. Guarantee finished eighth in a feature that Joe surpasses, Jimmy Carr, Jimmy just lets it go like you. he knows joe is faster, he had to let him go and uh, jimmy knows he's at the transfer point, jimmy carter and zero, there you can wait, you know, you don't have radios on these players, there are no rear view mirrors. to really hit with the sound, I guess to say how far away it is, oh my gosh, it's fun and he kept going, it's fun again, he collected oswald in the meantime, that's, you know, there are no starters or clutches, so you start spinning if you catch it in time. stand on the accelerator and do a 360 degree turn, try to move forward.
Look on the right side of your screen at Tom's trolled 21 ton car and that's a black car with the gold number, here it comes, I could have gotten it from that angle. He could have gotten a little help there, he got tagged from behind, he saved us, he gets up there and revs too much with the loose stuff and spins her again, but he almost got a danny sullivan that could ever forget about spending a win on the Indianapolis 500, we'll be back with the rest of the b mains, stay with us live on CNN, hold on, what a great time we had here in Paris, California, last night was the midnight rodeo here at the lake fairgrounds from Paris and many friends over the years were there cutting a rug, many members of our television crew, as well as sammy swindell, his wife amy, enjoying a bit of socializing, you don't have time to do much in the world of outlaws, tour, donnie shots and jeff swindell is competing in a video game here and who doesn't love video games and then they'll start having a lot of fun.
You are in a very friendly part of Southern California. Well, what may not be so fun right now is crucial. time in the b main three laps to go here are the top five victor hensley the 51p car is in the hole you have to be in the top four brent kating joe garrity vicky card they are going to try to stay away from all of them I don't care If they pass someone, just don't hit anything. It's okay, it'll be green next time down the stretch. I'm surprised there's a crowd. They got it. Let's remember that there is a complete outlaw show here. tomorrow night at the normal time of seven o'clock and tickets are available, but this was really made for television for the convenience of those of you who live back east at 8 p.m.
ET and for these people to even take a gamble on doing this. I guess so, they can get a big crowd. Here we go, Fred Koenig, with three laps to go, followed by Joe Garrity and there's your transfer battle, Victor Hensley in the orange car, trying to hold on to that fourth place, yeah, he's trying, he's trying, oh and him. He gets up, looks like he wrote it on his right butt, his left forehead did a good job saving him, boy did he do good, here comes the 27th. On the outside, it's around Hindi, coming down the front right away, that's bad burke card 27. orange 27 and he's on a streak that started from behind look look at this going around for the transfer in fact he is and I think it surprised Victor Henry maybe he thought he had it locked, we're in one.
Final circuit of this third half-mile track, there's your leader, Brent, the 7-foot car, sliding it to the side, moving the wheel dancing with the flag, Joel Garrity, the zero car in the third slot, and there it is your final transfer, departure number 27, and how crazy. was off the backstretch, I bet you anything our guys will make us take another look at this, there it is, this is where Hindi gets up and sees his left front go up to the right back of the 51, great job staying out of Wall. keeping it on four wheels and that allowed bert to run at it going into turn three here now that's rodeo style award kating take off the collar get back to the pits the teams have a lot of work to do they only have a few minutes to get these cars ready for the show a and of course when we get back we'll talk to brent katie and he can assess what he thinks his chances are in the a.
We'll be back live in Paris, California, six years and brent kating had any success in a World of Outlaws race and he's had some here tonight winning the bee feature and Dave Reef is willing, that's right, Steve, many times the king of california comes in after a pretty convincing lead b, it looks like things are starting to fall into place. I've got something figured out, I hope you know the tires are going to be a problem tonight, they're starting to hurt them, so we're going to make some minor changes, start deep in the field and hopefully learn something to keep us going.
That will help us for the future tonight. Do you think you can take it to the front? Well, I don't know, it's a long road and these guys are tough competitors, but we're going to give it our all. We've got gas splatter on a new right rear tire, they're headed to tonight's broadcast and a tip of the cap to 27, Pat Burke, who came out of the sea, came out of the sea Maine to finish, awesome to have a chance for his place well as you prepare for the big race of the night let's come back and meet the gang in charlotte for motor madness in spectacular crashes for only 39.95 plus 350 shipping call1-800-992 visa and mastercard video welcome runaway roland tumbling Speed car thrills and low level domestic flying, video at 1-800-992 and now all of Dick 1's classic one-hour racing videos are reduced at 39.95 for each call to 1-800-992-video, now it's time for the final shootout, pennzoil world. of the outlaws here in Paris, California and Katie, are lining up well.
This is the Outlaws version of Brad Doty's line dance. They have four breasts and it's really a shout-out to the fans who support them, giving a little bit back to the fans and me. This still makes the heroin in the back of my neck rise. Just these guys with four breasts. This is not an easy thing to do on a small, narrow racetrack. These cars wobble and want to turn left. Simply lining up and doing this without hitting the wheels is pretty cool. achievement you heard brad say wobble you heard sammy say wobble that simply means bigger tires on the right side than the left side and talk about dave blaney's talent on the ball you understood pretty much all the names and know what's in the middle of the field where you will see a huge force to roll that baby anyway, in the middle of the field you have steve kinser, stevie smith, jeff swindell and johnny herrera, this could definitely be one of the most fun races we have ever I brought you live on CNN because not all the hitters are ahead, many of them are struggling in time trials and series races, which has put them in a place where they have to play catch up, it's almost an unintentional reverse start. , we should have races. throughout the field and this should be a good event, oh and Blaney, he is accelerating hard, almost like he is warming up the tires on an asphalt track, they say you should go hard in the 10 cars, Mark Kenzer. outside the front row, the 5m car, we're on board with danny lesotsky, that judge changes every time we get on board with joe gertie, so two cameras on board right in the thick of it, bobby gerald, yeah, to be eco-friendly, large variations in tire compounds.
Jeff Swindell, who starts deep in the field, has opted to go with the softest tire. Goodyear makes the 17. It goes up from the 20 to the 25 and the 25 is what Mark Kinser has on his right rear as we go 30 laps for 10 grand. mark cancer from outside the front row but here comes blaney carrying more speed the high line works for him right there let's see if he can take it he can't come down mark kenzer is there I tell you I was surprised that mark kinser got the jump from the outside even surprising more look, the lady came back outside this is almost like a bad trail oh no, just Blaney nothing he could do Mark got up he didn't even tighten it on the loose things laney is lucky in that third one he wasn't closer, he lost a spot right there and let me tell you who's coming, the green car, 14 time outlaw world champion Steve Kinser is lurking, the kids are already in one, two, three, fourth position and he started outside the fifth row.
He started in ten places, Steve and here he comes, how many times have we seen Kenzer do this? We saw him two years ago at the Knoxville National starting 14th to flip the field like dogs and he'll let the track come to him, maybe start. with a harder tire, back off a little and make the track work well for him. I don't really know how much weight a tire has, yes, but I don't know how long you'll have to wait. Do you try to get to all the places you can see? Mark Kinser. I don't mean to tie this time, even waiting for the card to arrive.
Yes, yes, the fuel comes out of the car. The car is not as heavy in the rear, it is not as loose. into turns 22 and 19. That's the best fight on the right track right now, back with the kids, Stevie Smith, yeah, back to back to mark the leader, it won't be long before our leaders reach the traffic and no one handles traffic better than Steve Kinser. mark kinser leads this 30 lap feature look for your favorite cars they drive by stevie smith and jack hot chill sammy swindell in a car behind dana masosky check out this lasagna from the cameraman you're really good dude awesome if that doesn't give you the feeling of the pencil outball racing, I don't know what the camera will come up again, you see Sammy doing a wheelie right there, the track is starting to get some rubber, it looks like the track is getting stickier, some of these guys, maybe with soft tires.
They're burning up because of it, that rubber hits the race track and she saw Sammy lift the front wheels coming out of the turn too. Well, here are our leaders, Mike Cancer and Dave Blaney Blainey in the yellow car trying to put Cancer into that same vice. that he got hit at the beginning of this race, he wants to duck and there may be Dave Laney going around the outside of Mark from the back right away, right there with Mark Kendrick five as Fellaini's second. Absolutely look at Andy Hillenburg. sdp car phillip sorry mclean got stuck behind that car a little opened the door for hillenberg while steve kinser the green quaker state car rolls around the outside of 14. well steve got stuck behind that car 14 and he's just running his own line saying Stevie, when you pass me, do it.
I can't make it very easy for you. You know Steve Kinser had such a bad year last year. I saw him coming out of turn two last week in Las Vegas. He was leaving. His car turned you around. I know he's been the top dog for many years, but I think he has to feel more like he's been a fire hydrant for the last year than the top dog because, uh, things just haven't gone his way in the back of the car from Los Angeles. there's one on 22. and jack hadn't tried to stop, sammy moved to 14 from the last card driver there and i have to wait a bit with the hot shield on 22, but all the success sammy has enjoyed in the first two races didn't had it here that doesn't happen no way here are your leaders marquette cancer 5m andy hillenburg what a trip his second place is blaney who was so strong in the purchase now that it's over i don't know what's going on with blaine is the car not set up correctly , it could be tires, I could have chosen the wrong compound.
I was just going to say that Hillenberg uses McCurry tires. I talked about McCurry before. Generally, on a smaller, slicker racetrack, the grassland is sometimes predominant and so far it looks real. Well, at this point we're halfway through the 30 turns, well, you know, Bobby's head, Jeff's Wendell, started in this office, don't worry, he was able to buy and he doesn't work for him, he hasn't done anything, oh, contact between Hillenberg and Mark, Andy. He hit the frame tire and launched his front end into the hit mark and very fortunate he didn't spin or crush Andy's right front tire.
Now Benny looks good. There's Blaney just above the drill rod. Amazing by Andy Hillenburg, yes. The track is definitely getting faster, it's getting stickier, it's getting rubbery and you see a lot of cars cutting their front wheels off the ground. You see the daylight under the marks with Mark Kenzer right now showing you the kind of style that won him in 1996. of the outlaws title, so blainey that they are trying to surround Gilbert to keep him, but he had the line coming out out of turn four and lost a lot of ground when he hit the mark, it actually hurt him more than it hurt me Mark Bobby Carroll, do you have anything on Fellaini's card?
Guys, we're talking about tire compounds for the ten and five at Mark Kinser. Both have a good 25 year seat on the same tire and playing in the middle. the wild card is andy hillenberg's number two, who is a mccreary, so it's very good that you, with the same rubber on, andy hillenberg right in the middle and go for the lead and your helmet ever bites the corners, what? TRUE? Look Andy seems faster right now Steve, if he can ever move, mark where he can run his line, be smooth, accelerate gently, I don't think you have done this, but every time he gets up to mark, just Like I say , he, ma'am, passes, moves out of the bottom lane every time Andy comes to score, gets behind him, either pushes him or gets loose and gave Elaine a chance to catch him.
We've got 11 laps to go, there's still plenty of time right there, you just caught a glimpse of the green, get up and play, make this a quarter attack for the leader of a feature, delaney coming right up to the back of mark out of turn, two horses, there it is. rubber top i'm getting tighter on the racetrack this is what motor madness is about on friday nights on tnn when these cars do a wheelie like that steve with the wobble the car wants to turn left on the wheels fronts close so that the driver has to breathe the accelerator in the front, lower it again to be able to turn it and what is surprising is that these drivers, due to the design of the car with a short wheelbase, cannot even see the wheels front, they can't.
I don't see them at all, it's just a nice feeling when that thing hooks up and starts lifting the front wheels off the ground and, uh, you just have to ease off the accelerator and let the frame get back into traffic. What's up with the traffic now, brad? Well, that is. That will be key because whoever gets past the last traffic will obviously open up some light on a track like this. There is more than one pace, but it is still faster at the bottom, so Dave Blaney has taken the lead from Martin Kenzer. the vibrant yellow car, let's show you the pass right here, here is the mark of car 10, very sideways, it was a mark that lost a lot of speed, yes, the mark came loose a lot when exiting turn four, very loose, He hung the back, gave it to Blaney.
The one shot mark look seems like he's having a bit of a problem right now, it seems like he's really missing out on Blaney driving a Chevrolet this year last year the last few years have been affordable, he's made that transition very well and here he appears in The traffic, oh. these cars are fun to watch this is what it's all about you see a little smoke starting to come out of the guy's tires now three laps to go three laps to go dave blaney buckeye bala boy blaney can't wait now can't wait for the traffic mark appears again there, there is a 5m orange and white car marking, if you make the wrong decision, second place always has the advantage because when the leader goes in one direction, you can go in the opposite direction and if everything it opens, you have He did it, he made Bart go off turn two, which cost him three more car lengths.
He planned in traffic now, maybe Mark can get him back. White flag, Steve. We are in the last lap. This is where Blaney can use that trap. bladey wants more he's not done coming out of turn four at ohio state gabe his first win as a car owner formed his new team this year he and kenny woodruff got first they've been fast all season and they got their first victory, it was good for them and they exuded confidence throughout the day. He was talking to Bobby or Dave Reef. You can tell he was calm. Anyway, he's a very sober guy, but, oh man, what's up?
That's how it was. We're a little out of breath here in Paris, that was a whale and what were the odds in Vegas that that would turn green for 30 laps? We'll be back to talk to those who matter, stay with us, many of the 48 cars in the middle of a four-car crash in the fourth heat race, after being exhausted at the fence, Planey returns to win the second preliminary feature , but in the feature race, with four laps to go, Blaney takes the lead and #10, Bobby Davis, is passed by guess who. Number 11, Steve Cancer, who took his sixth and third consecutive title at Knoxville, but tonight the winner's circle belongs to Dave Blaney, now in a car with a ten stamped on the side.
Mark Kenzer, what a wild ride second, Andy Hillenberg, any of those three. they were deserved winners steve kinser well he threatened but could never deliver and our ace cameraman danny losky in the top five bobby gerald that was just a whale of a friday night live on dnn yes it was and take a look at the right rear tire There's not much left of Dave Blaney, there's nothing left if you're wondering why he was sliding on the track, that's exactly why, but Dave, it didn't matter because it got you here to victory lane, your first win as a car owner. car.
How does that feel? Yes, I couldn't be happier. I would take my you know, we put together a new team. You know, I have to thank Keith Hilton at the US joke man, you know, partners with me and all the vibrant and Nicoderm Maxwell's Goodyear buddy. Everybody, um, it's a good feeling to put something together and come here and be pretty successful right off the bat, yeah, I've got some good guys on the team and that's what it comes down to, so we're happy to be here, tell me. about the pass to take the lead you can get a mark yeah well he took rubber there about a third of the way into the race and he only did a one lane race and um but if aguy was too careful and tried to get in the back very slow, you could, you could go around him, you know, on the outside, coming in and that's what I got, he made a mistake coming out of four, I think, and I ran him a little bit and, uh , tried to protect the bottom and we had enough to stay behind, but I didn't think it was going to be difficult and there wasn't much, just a little bot lane from the beginning you were having a good race and you and you fell back. to second place, were you worried at that moment about winning?
Yeah well at first we were running all over the track and it was actually working pretty well but he passed me there and I wasn't worried but then when the rubber went to the side. He worried I wouldn't be able to get through. I'll just be one lane, but we try to stay close to the state. Well, congratulations, Dave, thank you very much. Dave Reef has caught up with our second. place man mark kinser dave bobby it's the same story here take a look at mark kinser's right rear tire there is nothing left there absolutely nothing and mark second place another good race for you, not exactly where you want to be although yes we would like to come out with a win here in the near future in the first race, Dave and I were running pretty well there and we got into this live traffic and maybe not as aggressive as it should have been and Dave is really hungry right now and he deserves a win, talk about that early pass, even though he got under it, yeah I just got under him, I actually pressed him into the dust and it probably didn't make him very happy, but that's part of racing and not did.
I was very happy when he rounded us, all my sponsors are here, Phil Duras, Ray Williams, of course, Stu Murray is home and we had a good performance and we are happy, but before Dave came knocking on the door he had quite a battle good. with Andy Hillenburg too, yeah, Andy's there, you know, and all these guys, all these guys are ready this year and we had a little bit of an advantage on them last year and unfortunately that's gone now, take us to the drivers . you're in the saddle, it's got to be a frustrating feeling when you see a race track, you know you're running on the rough edge and you just can't move forward, yeah just get into lap traffic in those circumstances and don't really want to take you out. because we have a race tomorrow, but maybe I should have gone in there and rubbed up against those guys a little bit and if I had, I would have been in the pit area. or in victory lane right now, well he's done pretty well all year, the worst part is he finished third, so another good performance from Mark Kinser tonight, guys, in fact he's hoping to defend his championship woo even though he's going to run a lot as a craftsman. truck racing dave blainey cleared table one while winning the vibrant board won the show we'll be back with more they're back at the paris speedway auto where the pinzo world of outlaw artists outdid themselves tonight believe it or not no only there were no yellow flags in 30 laps, all 24 cars finished the race, which was incredible, Bradley, considering almost none of them had the right rear tire line, yes, with the tire wear we saw and no flat tires, They all made it to the end, they just fell.
That really soft Goodyear finished tenth and, uh, you might be lucky that that was a tenth if the tire didn't go flat. Oklahoma rookie Lance Blevins finished 15th. Tyler Walker, a little disappointed in 20th, but overall, gentlemen, great race. safe race, an exciting race and right now the man who finished third is waiting with bob gerald and he's in that club of guys who didn't have much left on the right rear tire, andy, how do i mean, he's already a handful, But how much harder is it to drive a car when you have nothing left in it?
Oh, you just know that every time you slip off the rubber that's on the track, the car gets very slippery and you know you want to spin the tires. and then you worry about someone passing you, so what's up with this third place? Are you happy with that? Well, I think we're pretty good, I think we know we didn't anticipate the track would lay down rubber as quickly as it did and we chose. a little too soft to get tired tonight and, but uh, we were pretty good, you know, I was running with Marcaire and I was accelerating with him and, you know, I felt like we were, we were as good as him, but then you know.
I wore out my tire while I was running it and my tires started shaking and we kind of slowed down a little bit and tried to take care of it so it didn't blow up and you know, tonight we're taking third place. and be happy with that, there was a time when you were in second place, it looked like maybe you had a thing for Mark going into turn three at the end of the race and you guys really touched each other, yeah I went in there a little too hard , Mark was doing the right thing, he was protecting the racetrack, you know, and I went in there a little too hard and got into the reverse a little bit, but I just hit the brake pedal and got off of it so I could do it.
I didn't turn it around so, I don't know, you know we're really happy that car j was running great and our tires were running great, you know, we just made a little wrong decision. it's going well so um uh we'll take third place tonight and we'll be happy with it, I guess before I send it to Dave Reef real quick, I know you have some Valentine's wishes to send, yes my wife, I wish I could be here tonight. He's probably at home counting those roses, so we'll be home in a couple of days. Okay, let's work on how many roses he received.
Dave Bobby. I agree with Daniel Wilson. Quick Valentine's Day. How many roses did you give your wife a dozen of them he's a good man he's good how that personal friend runs our internal camera tonight you had a great run with steve kinser it seemed like everything ended well I'll tell you what on a primary night like this, uh, you need to run in the top four and it was like a desperate move there, the last lap was like using the fence a little bit up, but I hope I brought you some good photos with the camera on board, it was exciting for us, the car pressed steel from Conwest American and I came up a little short tonight we started fifth we finished fifth it's got to be frustrating staying right there the same distance for the heady guy all night well I'll tell you what the race is ahead It was really good because I could see everyone changing protagonists without saying anything, but if I get a little closer we can mix it up.
We join them, but we never get there and I'll tell you what, uh, tnn, in the world of outlaws, bring this race television it is a privilege for us to race here and we are also tickled by a race track tonight. You definitely couldn't. make a mistake, if you made a mistake you will lose two or three places, so let's show tonight that someone went off the turn. Traffic played a big role in, uh, I guess the race lead too, so that's part of sprint car racing. he mentioned that he touched the wall here after the race, if you look down at the weld bead lock you can see the scuff marks on the edge of this thing where danny lesoski tried to take that fourth place from steve kinser, well they Everyone tried to take a lot of things away from Steve Cancer, but Brad, overall, I think the guys said it pretty well, it was a tough race track, mainly because it really was daytime racing conditions, it won't be like that here tomorrow.
The night they did another full law show, no, but it turned out to be a good run, although after you hit the rubber, you know there are some passes and people you know that make some things happen and you don't have to give it to Danny. lesowski they have to be happy with the top five you know they are running basically an experimental head a new all pro head with a new tim engler fuel injector and they are setting it up and there will be no problems tonight. everyone is finishing up, so they have to be very happy with that.
I'm sure they're fine. We're not done here yet. We'll be back with more, including a conversation with Mark Kinser. All the trucks are being dragged to the field, so you. can i load them up, take them back to the motel parking lots and get them ready for tomorrow night here in paris charlotte hi that wasn't so fun now i hope i helped tonight thanks katie it's only eight minutes to eight here on the west coast , so all the fans have been crowding into the pits to get autographs and all kinds of stuff and look at this, Mark Kinser has actually gotten within two points of Jeff Swindell, who didn't have a great night and, uh, Howden Child, he made a little progress too, so Jack, one of Jack's best starts in years, Guy Four Brooks is really doing a good job for this team, okay, let's go now to Bobby Gerald, maybe for the last time tonight, to talk to a guy who had an interesting evening as well. uh dave blaney the winner of the race enjoys uh his last bite of cupcake we're here with the guy who finished 13th here tonight joe gertie and uh joe and you could probably get a cupcake from blainey I guess if you asked him but one night on the job I lasted until 13th place and are you tired?
The track actually dropped some rubber there and we realized that after running the main b there, I messed up again there on the b and I had to start last, I spun trying to warm up the tires and we just got a little lost in the setup. We will be there tomorrow night again. We will try. We're having a little problem with our stealth here trying to figure it out I think he's faster than the driver so the driver calms down we get a little better setup I think we'll be fine Joe Gertie One of the most honest men In drag car racing, let's go with Dave Reef, who is he? waiting with sammy swindell well the name of the game for sammy smidell wasn't flash it wasn't dash wasn't good wasn't bad he was just out there tonight sammy uh guess it was a different night Yeah, well, just the way the track worked out, no there was a lot of room to do anything, so we got stuck behind a car also on the first lap or two and, you know, we got stuck a little bit, but we were almost racing there. as fast as anyone, huh, what a lot of room or I didn't have the right circumstances to get by, it's Valentine's Day, donate, I bet you have some special wishes you'd like to send, yeah, to everyone in Tennessee watching tonight, uh, hopefully.
We'll do a little better tomorrow night with this channel auto locked. Well, his family is always with him. If you look down you will see young Kevin Swindell. I bet you're not too disappointed with your dad's performance tonight. You are always proud. of him, isn't it? Yes, I had the opportunity to speak with this young man in the 50 days that took him to Disneyland. What a good father. Stay with us, friends, we will be back with a possibly very interesting and certainly unexpected development. You don't want to miss this if it's what I think it is.
We're back live on TN with a real banger. Dave Blaney. The winner of tonight's show has been disqualified. Mark Kendra. I guess he will be the winner. Dave Reef is in The Pits with more of what happened well, an incredible development. I had the opportunity to speak with Bobby Jackson from the world of outlaws. The rules of the outlaw world state that that silencer must remain intact throughout the race. They left. The muffler was intact. it went off the track it was in pieces there were certain pieces off of it the buffler was still there but it wasn't intact that's the bomb dave blaine has been disqualified well brad what do you think about that deal uh blainey has left the pits we can't talk to he, oh what do you know, he has to be devastated, you know you're high from winning the race and then finding out that's one of the drawbacks of the mufflers that I mentioned before and that you know I like. mufflers, but unfortunately this rule surely affected Dave Blaine and his team tonight, in fact, for more information on this and the world of motorsports, be sure to tune in to race day tomorrow and Sunday, and for Brad Dolly , Bobby Gerald and Dave Reef, I'm Steve Evans. taking you back to charlotte andy
