The Oppo Find N2 is the Folding Phone of my Dreams

Mar 31, 2024
We have a bit of a problem here in the technology industry. I'm sure you've noticed that most

phone

s these days are made with just a slight variation of the exact same tried and true formula, and that's why

phone

s like this one. Oppo Find N2 is so special that this is a phone that belongs to that rare five percent that breaks the mold and really improves the overall experience of owning a cell phone. This has been my main phone for over a month now and I think I'm planning on it. To keep it that way for much longer, the Oppo Find N2 is a foldable phone and, in my opinion, it's the best version of a tablet and foldable phone combo that Samsung started with the original Galaxy Fold in September 2019.

It's slim. a large battery and has a full-sized cover screen that isn't too tall while retaining that 7.1-inch tablet-sized screen on the inside. This is just my opinion, but I think it's the closest thing to a perfect foldable phone form factor. It's trying to say that the foldable phone form factor is five times faster. The foldable phone form factor is fine, it's not that difficult anyway. This is my first experience with an Oppo phone and I must say I am impressed, the opening and closing of the hinge feels solid and sturdy and the phone is strong enough to absorb an impact, believe me I have dropped it more than a couple of times, nothing about this phone feels cheap or poorly designed, it's not super light, it weighs like 233 grams, but it's not that heavy either.

More Interesting Facts About,

the oppo find n2 is the folding phone of my dreams...

It's also not as heavy as the Z-Fold 4. It has these modern, flat side rails that are very comfortable to hold and the matte green finish found throughout this phone is beautiful. There are a few different colors available for this phone now, including a black faux leather one, but the way the green glows when it reflects in the light looks really cool, there are a lot of minor details here and there that add up to a very much phone. more refined than I expected, for example the hinge on this phone is designed in such a way that the two halves of the phone close completely, there is no gap here like you would

find

on a Z-fold 4.

I also like it what they've done with the gentle curve of the camera bump. It gives you a really nice place to rest your fingers while holding this phone. At first I thought the power button and volume rocker were too high on the frame, but they are actually exactly where they should be because they are lower. That and your thumb would be sitting on the power button fingerprint reader all the time if I had one minor complaint, a very minor complaint, I would say I really don't love these side mounted power button fingerprint readers in general .

I would prefer to have a fingerprint reader on the front screen because I can also use my left thumb to unlock the phone, but I must say that this fingerprint reader or fingerprint reader has not let me down, but it is fast and accurate in unlocking my phone, the bezels on this cover screen are nice and thin and they are symmetrical on all sides which gets bonus points on my imaginary score sheet, like I said the cover screen or front screen or whatever you want to call it se feel a lot. More like a regular phone than Samsung's extremely tall and thin one, the front display is a 5.5-inch 1080p AMOLED display running at 120 hertz and you really couldn't ask for much more.
I have nothing to complain about regarding color or sharpness, it's a great screen, but the fun, of course, is on the inside. When you open this phone, you are presented with a 7.1-inch foldable ltpo AMOLED display that also runs at 120 hertz. This is the best screen you will

find

. On a foldable phone, for a very simple reason, the crease created by

folding

the screen is much less pronounced than that of any other phone, so far it looks perfectly flat 95 percent of the time when you look at it, the only I sometimes start to see it when you're off-axis, but even then it's much less obvious than z-

folding

4.
This internal display has an aspect ratio close to 4x3, which is very similar to what you'd find on something. Like an iPad Pro, it's not ideal for watching modern movies or TV shows because they would have a much wider aspect ratio, but I don't mind too much, there's always the option to zoom in a little and crop the sides if you want an image more espacious. immersive experience, it's also a 1080p screen so it's not as sharp as the z-fold 4, but again, I don't really care that much. I'd prefer a less noticeable crease rather than a slight increase in sharpness any day of the week I'll tell you what this internal screen is great for, those older TV shows though I love watching my old Gundam anime, it fits almost perfectly on the screen without having to zoom or just play some old emulated games. big Fire Emblem nerd and playing Path of Radiance on this thing where the controller is just perfect.
I'm so glad you watch videos and play games in the same orientation as the front screen. You don't have to rotate the screen back and every time you want to watch a video, the only time I found myself turning this phone was if I wanted to take some photos or I wanted to partially fold the phone so I could use it as a stand when I was sitting on a chair. That's great, some applications like YouTube have support for a foldable phone and the video will be displayed in the middle of the screen and the comments will be displayed in the lower half.
The only problem I have has to do with the placement of the speakers on this phone, they are actually on the bottom, normally that's not a problem when you hold your phone and just watch videos like this, it's perfectly fine but in the When you turn your phone to the side to look at something or are looking with the cover screen closed, the audio comes from the left or right of the screen, which is still not ideal, although the speakers are pretty good , they are nice and loud and fine for listening to something if you don't have headphones, oh, I almost forgot before I stopped talking about the internal screen.
Opal also sells an N2 search pen. I don't have one so I forgot, but the internal screen can also be used for drawing or taking notes. If you like taking notes, I recommend you check out the sponsor of this video. notion notion is a service I use all the time for everything from jot nodes to writing pages and pages of text for my DND sessions. It was already incredible. a feature-rich note-taking app, but they recently took it to the next level with the introduction of their notion of AI. This is changing the rules of the game.
Let's say I'm writing a tech blog post about Apple finds N2, but my sentence structure. It's just not the best and things don't flow as well as they should. Within the notion I can highlight a paragraph, click on ask Ai, and then click on improve writing notion. AI will then take your paragraph and completely rephrase it so it is written much better, obviously. I misspelled that paragraph on purpose, but you get the idea. You can also use AI to lengthen paragraphs. I tend to say things as concisely as possible, which isn't always ideal when writing for blogs, so I use AI to add. just a little silliness in my paragraphs goes a long way, so it's great for work, but it can also be extremely useful for creative things.
I'm a DM, a dungeon master, and building worlds for my DND campaigns is usually a lot of work, but it's made significantly easier by using AI notion for ideas, for example, let's say I need to come up with a low-level combat encounter. for my next session. I can just press space and tell the AI exactly what I need in just a few seconds, he spat out an idea for a full combat encounter that includes the monsters involved, their Strat combat strategy, and details on the notion of terrain. The AI is simply amazing and you should definitely go check it out via the link in the description below.
Okay, time to address the elephant in the room. Oppo software has this phone loaded with color OS 13 and my experience with it has been good, don't get me wrong, but it took some work to get it that way, the thing is, the Find N2 is not available natively in North America. On sale, you can still easily get it in just a couple of weeks and it will still work well here. I still have full connection to all my cell towers. You just have to buy it from a site like giztop, like I did. So when you get it, you'll have to change the language to English and remove all the bloatware, but once you do, you'll get a very solid software experience on the Google Play Store and any of the apps you download from there will work just fine. and they will even resize natively to fit the internal screen seamlessly.
Oppo has great gesture support set up right out of the box, like you can swipe down with two fingers on any app to split the screen. Multitasking works very well and I have not had any performance issues. I can open and scroll through my Twitter while watching my favorite d d podcast on YouTube at the same time the N2 is running a Snapdragon 8 gen 1 with 12 or 16 gigs of RAM, so I mean the good performance isn't that surprising. My biggest concern was in the battery life department. This phone has a battery capacity of about 4500 milliamp hours, which is not small, it's actually bigger than the z-fold 4, but I had a nagging feeling that the battery was going to run out for some reason, luckily it was completely wrong.
The Find N2 has fantastic battery life. The Accu battery is giving me an average reading of about seven and a half hours of screen on time and after I thought about it for more than a few seconds, it makes a lot of sense many times during the day. I take out my phone for, you know, 10 15 20 minutes to respond to an email or take a phone call and I use the cover screen for everyone. On top of that, the small 5.5-inch power-efficient cover screen for charging the opal phone includes a 67-watt supervook fast charger in the box that charges the phone from dead to full in just over half an hour or something ridiculous.
Well, the only drawback is that the Find N2 does not have wireless charging, which yes, I find it a little annoying because I have wireless chargers all over my house and they are convenient, but if all I have to do is place my phone on the charger for 15 to 20 minutes. minutes while I'm in the shower every morning. I'm a good man, I have no complaints. Okay, it's camera time. How do photos look on this Hasselblad brand camera system? Well, for the hardware, we have a 50-megapixel wide camera and a 48-megapixel ultra-wide camera. and a 32-megapixel telephoto lens on the back of the phone, as well as two 32-megapixel selfie cameras, one on the cover screen and one on the inner screen, this is another one of those areas where I expected this phone to I would be disappointed, but it just wasn't like that.
I think if I put this phone next to the s23 ultra and took photos with both, I might prefer photos coming from the ultra, but the photos coming from this camera definitely stand out on their own. They're nice and sharp, the colors are well balanced with no weird color biases and although the depth of field can be a little shaky with close-up subjects, I'm still more than impressed with the cameras on this phone, the only drawback is with As for the video, the stabilization gets a little weird with 4K video from the rear cameras and I think the little AI button that's supposed to help in certain scenarios just makes things a little worse.
The front cameras are also only capable of recording 1080p video, which in my opinion is simply not acceptable for an expensive phone in 2023. Fortunately, if you don't mind looking like an asset, you can always open the phone and use the display screen. the cover as a monitor to take photos and videos with the rear cameras in place, so despite some very minor and I mean very minor complaints, the Oppo Find N2 is an extremely capable foldable phone, in fact, it is one of best phones I've tested regardless of folding category, it has become my main phone over the s23 ultra over the iPhone 14 pro over the z-fold 4 and it baffles me why Oppo hasn't brought this to the western world.
Here's the thing, though we just learned that Oppo's sister company OnePlus is launching a foldable phone later. year, who knows, maybe it's a Find N2 copy or a rebrand, we'll have to see either way. I love this phone, I really do and if you are interested in importing it and using it yourself I will leave links to where you can do itin the description below. I hope you liked the video. Thanks for watching and as always, have a great day.
