2 Disturbing TRUE Uber Horror Stories

Mar 17, 2024
In 2014 I frequently used the Uber app because I couldn't drive for 12 months due to some DUI charges, just a stupid mistake. In general, there is a nightclub in my city that I sometimes went to on weekends with my friends. sometimes they would take me home with a designated driver if we had one and sometimes we would take an

tonight. I wasn't feeling very well, so I left a little early, it was between 1:00 and 2:00 in the morning. In the morning it was too cold to walk home so I called an Uber, a guy nearby named Alex showed up and I have to be honest he was a little creepy looking, he was older, he wasn't really smiling in his photo and he had a grayish.

Goatee in a black cap was only two miles away so I didn't really care, he said he had a Chevy Malibu which sounded good so I asked him to come pick me up. I waited on the bench outside the club, next to the goalkeeper. He stood there like a statue with his hands together. About five minutes later, a silver 2003 Chevy Malibu or something pulled up in front of the club. I got up a little disappointed because it was such an old, ratty looking car that the guy didn't call me or honk or anything, he just waited by the curb, so I got up and got into the back seat of the car right away.

Things got awkward. He didn't greet me, didn't shake my hand, or even turn his head to look. All he said to me was very quietly, where are you going?, to which I responded with my address. We started moving down Main Street, but in the wrong direction of my house, I told him this and he turned left at the next intersection. As I got off the main roads and into the quieter residential areas, he didn't put my address in his phone, so I felt very strange. He didn't know if he expected me to give him instructions or not.

I ended up putting my address in my own phone so I could hear when the GPS said turn left on the next street, I completely missed it. I made a confused gesture with my hand, he noticed it and said he just had to make a quick stop, don't worry, I'll give you a discount. Even though he was drunk, I still knew something bad was going on, that's when I noticed the gun sticking out of the center glove compartment next to him. Now I was trying to figure out how to get out of this car at the next red light.

I tried the door handle very quietly but it didn't open. I saw that the child safety lock was activated and from that moment on my heart raced. The man was driving so far from my house that we must have been two cities away. At this point I was getting desperate. I couldn't call the police because I didn't know what this guy could do. I thought my best bet would be to try to operate the test lock switch next to it, next to the front seats. I had to slide it in somehow. I approached the opposite side of the back seat behind him without him noticing, this was one of the most tense moments of my life.
I lost sight of his head in the rearview mirror, making sure he wasn't looking. I slipped very casually behind him, thankfully. He didn't realize it, now came the scariest part. I had to reach for the button in front at the next red light before I could do anything. At every traffic light we passed I felt more and more tension building as I waited for one of them to turn yellow and finally one finally did. He slowed the car at an intersection that would normally be busy during daylight hours. It was a perfect escape point. The car stopped.
I knew this light wasn't very long, so I had to be alert. Quickly a car stopped on the opposite side of the intersection which made me feel a little better with all my courage I put my hand to the illuminated child lock button and I must have scared him because he jumped two inches off the seat. He yelled at me and, as he feared I would, he went for the gun that was right next to him. I was able to open the door and flee to the nearby cadillac escalade where I banged on his window asking for help and they drove away completely avoiding me, but it didn't matter because the man in his Chevy Malibu had already gone down the block.
I ran to a nearby grocery store that was open 24 hours where I called the taxi this time it was a very humbling experience because I don't remember being drunk. at that store or during the taxi ride home, I reported the driver to Ober, who said they would escalate the situation to the authorities. It wasn't until a week later that an officer finally showed up at my door to question me and that was the end of that, I have no idea what happened to that guy but I have never used an

uber

since as a former uber driver I have I've dealt with a lot of unsavory characters from drunken Saturday night friend groups to people pretending to be disabled getting free rides, but every once in a while you can pick up someone who can simply be classified as a real creep.
I've recruited a few of these guys, but never one as bad as a guy. My name was Tom, it was a Friday night in December, one of the coldest nights of the year. I didn't have anything to do so I thought I'd do some late night pickups. This was two years ago. He was 18 years old and had a new Honda Accord. My parents were kind. It spoiled me a little. I was a very skinny 18 year old kid, but that's why my dad told me to always have a razor in my car because you never know what kind of crazy people get in the car.
A guy named Tom showed up a couple of miles away. away through an important commercial area, I responded to his request and began driving in that direction. I stopped in front of the mall where I saw a group of teenagers hanging out. It seemed like a problem. I hope this guy Tom wasn't part of this. group, a group of them looked at me in my car as I drove by slowly, eventually I just stepped on the gas and pulled into the mall parking lot wanting to get away from this group. I circled the entire parking lot twice until I finally noticed through my left mirror that someone was approaching my car from behind.
I rolled down the window and called Tom and he called me back. Yes, I told him to come up. I had to repeat it three times and since all he was saying was to come up very clearly he made the situation very strange from the beginning, the fourth time he finally understood me and slowly walked around the back to sit right behind me. Usually the people I picked up sat diagonally, which is what I preferred when people sat right behind me. For me sometimes I got a little paranoid especially when the person seemed a little creepy this guy was old he had to be over 40 so I asked him he told me he was wearing a dress which I entered on my phone by your voice.
Now that I think about it, I say he was a chain smoker. My car was starting to smell like cigarettes. The address he gave me was 10 miles away, which was fine, since with men I would make more money. At first I tried to make small talk, which didn't work very well, like if I asked him a yes or no question, sometimes you just mumble and any other question would lead to dry answers. I stopped talking when he completely ignored one of my questions that was only five miles away. There were still five to go before we reached the six mile mark.
Things started to get awkward there. I was afraid to look in the rearview mirror because I was so sure he was watching me. I took a quick half-second glance at him and he was right. In fact, staring at me, my body forced me to step harder on the accelerator. I wanted this trip to end sooner at the eight mile mark. I started to realize that we were in the middle of nowhere, we were basically on a deserted street with woods on both sides. Lateral and occasional buildings. I was starting to suspect where this address he told me was actually, so as I was driving I dragged my finger on my phone to swipe the map in the direction of the address that seemed to lead to a dead end with no surrounding streets nearby was getting me. increasingly nervous with each passing minute now I looked at the mirror again and he was still looking at me I finally gathered the courage to ask him if the address he gave me was his At home there was silence for a few moments and I thought that once again he was going to tell me ignore or possibly he wouldn't listen to me, but five seconds later he finally answered yes.
There was less than a mile left on the road and it was now still surrounded by nothing but woods with the occasional building that looked empty. I was approaching the dead-end street where the address he gave me resided, hoping that some houses would come into view as the street climbed. I slowed down to get a good look at him, but nothing could. I could only see total darkness. I could only imagine why he wanted to bring me here alone, so far from anyone or anything. I casually kept driving pretending I missed it hoping he wouldn't notice, but he did instantly and jumped out of his seat. and yelled at me to turn around, I honestly felt like my life was at stake so I excused myself and did a quick three point turn as I re-appropriated myself to see if I would lick a sword and hold it tightly in my right hands, ready to use.
I turned down the dead-end road with my headlights now showing just what I thought I would see nothing but trees on either side. I reached the end of the road, not a single house or building on the road. I just knew something was about to go down, I was just trying to prepare myself physically and mentally for it, suddenly, he said in as soft a voice as he probably could thanks for the ride, I wasn't even thinking about the money at the time, he opened the door, but before leaving, he said: Could you get out of the car for a second?
I need help carrying my bag. I have back problems, but he didn't have a bag. He knew no, he didn't come in with one. I answered yes. yeah sure let yourself out and i will help you in a second the shaking and my voice were too obvious what happened next i never imagined what happened suddenly i felt pressure on my neck it took me at least a second before i could realize that I was suffocating from the back seat. I immediately stuck the blade in his left arm and he screamed in pain, releasing his grip on my neck.
He fell out of the car onto the street and I took that opportunity to turn the car. and practically bulldozed down the street until I was back on a busy street. In fact, I didn't end up calling the police. I was just too scared to do anything but drive home and when I got home I just wanted to go to sleep and Forget it, needless to say I gave up driving for Uber days after this incident.
