DO THIS First Thing In The Morning To BRAINWASH Yourself For Success | Dr. Joe Dispenza

Mar 29, 2024
We are good at what we practice, which is why many people, the

first

thing

they do in the

morning

is practice stress. They get up, whether to read the news, emails or social media, at what I consider a very important time of the day. They allow the environment to start conditioning their mind and their back conditions their body, that's how I see it and if you have what we've been talking about so far, of course, we've mentioned the addictions that our wife these days is important to you're the

first

part of the day when someone wakes up, it's a critical part of the day where people have to be very intentional or they can do some of the work that you promote later or think is first

thing

in the

morning

.

It is a very important part of the day. I'm going to be very careful with

this

. I think there are two times that the door to the subconscious mind opens when we wake up in the morning and go to bed at night and it is simple brain. simple chemistry and physiology, we have a circadian rhythm as soon as there is light, our body has practically been programmed, yes, we start releasing serotonin, different chemicals that wake us up, so our brain waves go from Delta to Theta, to Alpha and Beta. You slide up

this

way and then return to consciousness and the local level in space and time.

More Interesting Facts About,

When you go to bed at night, you go from beta to alpha, from theta to delta, and now you slide down if you're stressed. I can't help but think, you stay in beta and you're thinking that you're actually turning the body on because you're thinking about your problems, you can't slide down, so those two points, uh, in the day, when we get up in the morning tomorrow. we go to bed at night um when we are and when alpha or our analytical facilities are suppressed we are in Theta we are in a hypnotic state and the door between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind is wide open which separates consciousness The mind from the subconscious mind is the analytical mind, so if you suppress the analytical facilities you can program anyone to do anything, then what really happens for most people before they even pick up their cell phone and by the way, the statistics are 86 of the people in In the Western world, the first thing they do is pick up their mobile phone and connect to everything that is known.

Why is a problem? Well, I would never tell people how to think, but I would give them information to make them think that way. the device reminds them of things that are known and every person, every object, every place, is neurologically mapped in our brain because we have experienced it and then we have an emotion associated with it with our coworker with our boss with our ex with our sea whoever it is and the moment we start to respond we now start to feel the same, so now the environment actually controls the person's feelings and thoughts, yes, and anything that controls the way we feel, the way we We think we are victims too, so something is programming us. to think and feel a certain way, there is nothing wrong with that, you can, you should check your taxes, but and do what you have to do, except first thing in the morning, if the door between the conscious mind and the conscious mind subconscious is open, why not?

We program a new behavior, why don't we try a different way of being with our children with our spouse? In our Zoom meetings, when we're alone, when we're in traffic, is there a better way to evolve our experience? You're really in the game of evolution You're really in the game like it's a lifetime someday What am I working on today? Can I respond differently to this person? Can I think this way instead of that way? Let me be aware of my unconscious. thoughts let me not have a habit let me get away from certain emotions let me practice feeling these emotions see if I can keep them now you're in the game you're out of the stands and you're on the playing field then it actually happens even before the cell phone because what most people do is wake up and the first thing they do is that the brain is a record of the past, they think that there are other problems and those problems are just memories recorded in the brain that are connected to certain people and objects at certain times and places at the time when they think about their problems, they are thinking about the past, then when they think about their problems, they feel unhappy now, their bodies in the past and if they believe that their thoughts have something to do with your destiny, yes , wow, and then the associated emotion now is bodies in the past because brain language thoughts and body language feelings and how we think and how we feel create our state of being now.
This is the problem: if you can't think beyond how you feel and you believe that your thoughts have something to do with your destiny and you understand that feelings and emotions are records of the past, then you are thinking about the past and your life. . it'll stay the same yeah so I've always been a fan of morning routines personally. I have discovered when I have some intentional connections with myself in the morning and when I don't, I am a different person. showing myself differently my productivity the way I am with my wife or my children is completely different, so I learned that I am now 44 years old at this age.
I know mornings are very important to me and I'm sure I could do the same at lunchtime. or later, technically I could, but I never find moment number one, number two. I don't think it's as powerful afterwards because I feel like first thing in the morning I'm preparing to be a certain way for that day and in fact, since our first conversation, Dr. Joe, I went to your website and downloaded some of his meditations and have been doing one most mornings. It's a 23 minute meditation and I have to say my favorite part of the meditation is about 17 or 18 minutes. where you say something with the effects of and I don't want to speak ill of your words, but it's something about Now is the time to remind

yourself

of the feelings you don't want to feel, remind

yourself

of how you want to appear.
I love that part because every time for me it's like, okay, I don't want to be like this today and if this happens, this is how I want to show up, this is how I want to be, so first of all I want to say thank you because it's been This idea that you talked about last time, mental rehearsal, you know, we have no problem thinking about athletes who rehearse how they are going to act, we have no problem thinking that, of course, an actor does want to. play a role in a certain way they are going to rehearse they are going to keep rehearsing until they are able to do it yes, most of us don't really apply that in our own life we don't believe that yes, I need to do it be rehearsing for the person I want to be in my own life The game of life the game of life the most important game the most important game well um 95 of who we are as a set of memorized behaviors uh automatic emotional responses that the unconscious has is programmed attitudes beliefs and perceptions that function in a way very similar to a computer program they are automatic, so you can think positively whatever you want you can say I am healthy I am healthy I am rich I am rich free, I am free, I am worthy and worthy and your body says no, you are not, you are miserable , so it makes sense that there has to be an unlearning process and that we have to remain aware, yes, of our unconscious thoughts. that slippage of our Consciousness into realization we have to watch how we speak we have to watch how we act we have to pay attention to the way we feel and we have to become so aware of those unconscious states of mind and body that we don't stay. unconscious in our waking day because how you think, how you act and how you feel is your personality and your personality creates your personal reality, so if you are thinking the same way, you are acting the same way and you feel.
In the same way, nothing is going to change in your life, so the process of unlearning is just as valuable as the process of relearning. You must break the habit of the old self before reinventing a new self. You have to prune synaptic connections before new ones sprout. connections that you have to deactivate and disconnect before you reactivate and rewire you have to deprogram and then reprogram how you unlearn because I guess if you think about addiction for many of us this is just living in the past, we are just repeating behaviors that we have fact in the past that made us change our state that gave us that dopamine boost.
I understand that you can meditate, you can feel that heightened emotion with a very high degree of emotional intensity, but how do you become aware and unlearn? those previous paths are trial and error, yes you have to go out, you have to go out into life and try it, okay, I have changed my internal state, you could have a great meditation, you can connect, your heart could open, this could happen to me me. open your heart it would be amazing you will feel like the day is invincible and you wake up and then the rest of your day you are unconscious of the 15 hours of your day so you are going to wait an hour of being in a different state of being against 15 hours where you are unhappy and in a hurry and on a schedule, so how many times do we have to forget until we stop forgetting and start remembering?
That is called change, how many times do we have to become unconscious before the point where we are no longer unconscious and we remain conscious, that is the moment of change now, if you are really out of the stands and you are on the field of play and This happens to a lot of people at our work, they say you know. I really believe this is the truth I really believe you could heal yourself I really believe you can change your life I've seen the testimonies I just never believed this could happen to me now this is a great moment now to actually step on the playing field so that a person who begins to do his work is not interested in healing the real person who is really interested in this work understands that the only way to heal is that he has to change They are not saying that I am going to wait for my wealth to happen or my cure to feel grateful and happy in life.
They are saying that I feel grateful. My healing will start well if I sit more. Generally then there should be some change in my genetic expression, so you have studied the content, you have studied the information and now it becomes extremely practical, so you can have a great meditation and we have seen this happen to many people, They sleep better. they have less pain they have more energy but their blood values never change now they don't say oh I feel better but I'm failing this is not working they say what is it in me that prevents this from being completely healed okay how am I?
Me in my waking day, the moment you start asking that question, you turn on the frontal lobe and the frontal lobe is the seat of your consciousness now, the moment you start looking at the end of your day, how I did this? important question: how was today? I fell from grace when I lost it and with whom I lost it I had another chance, how would I do it differently? They'll tell you I've seen them stand on stage and tell their story and say I had to start really looking at myself in my life, yeah, how I was responding emotionally to my ex, how I was responding emotionally to my financial problems, I really had to pay attention. a lot of attention to that and that requires an enormous amount of energy and an enormous amount of consciousness to stop the program just so you forget about it and go away, damn it, I was unconscious now you didn't lose, you didn't fail, he just became conscious now yeah you keep becoming so aware of your unconscious states, you are you.
You are outside the program, you are only in the program when you are unconscious, the moment you are conscious, you can objectify your subjective self so that you can see yourself through the eyes of another person, so the learning process comes from the brain's error. Learn from mistakes and surprises I've made enough in my life It's only if you're going to do it again Yes, you want to do it again You're back in the habit Back in the routine If you say this is it Next time that happens I'm not going to do that not for anyone else, but because those emotions are actually my response to that person or that circumstance is actually weakening the body.
Is that person that circumstance worth it? So it is Evolution, it is Evolution that is the challenge then. It has to deal with a higher level of mind now if you're just doing your meditation just because you want to please God or do the right thing or feel good about yourself, that's going to get stale after a while because it's just going to get stale. another routine between your coffee and your shower and your emails and your commute and people aren't present properly, then family past conditioning is based on the past, that thought and feeling, but habituation is programming them for a predictable future, that is the It is known that if you teach a person how to find the present moment, that is where the unknown exists and that requires a lot ofenergy, a lot of awareness and yet if you practice it, the body will literally start to respond to the mind, it's like training. an animal finally relaxes and when that happens your response to the people and circumstances in your life will be different because you got over yourself at the beginning of the day, so I'm an early morning guy like you, I really understand a why because no one bothers me what time It's 4:30 somewhere around there and then what do you do um I get into my thought box, what's the stuff box?
Well, okay, what am I going to do today? But I'm not going to sit down and just go into meditation, what thoughts before I enter this meditation? Am I going to stay away from the well? What circumstances? What things I might think about later that aren't that important to me? What emotions? What memories? I stay away if I go there I know what that's going to do why I'm doing this meditation what I'm going to do What am I? How am I going to do it? So, I like anyone who does something really well. You have your thinking box and you organize what you are going to do.
Are you doing this in bed or are you having? first coffee I get up and move around a little bit you know, do some things, maybe write some notes because then I kind of make a sign with the meaning of the ACT. I can stay conscious for a minute, so do all this before your meditation, okay, always. but then when I get into my game box, there is no thought. I did all my thoughts in my thought box, you did all your thoughts in your thought boxes, and also when sometimes we wake up and there are these kinds of thoughts that are just appearing. you're writing some things down while you're processing them, kind of a way to quiet the noise so you can sink into the meditation, let's say I have 10 Zoom meetings in a day, I look at my calendar and I'm doing fine, nothing like that, really.
I'll get to all that, this is not my time to think about the known. I know this is all going to work. I know how the Zoom meetings will go, but let me make sure when I'm in these. I lead certain Zoom meetings with my heart and I am being the person I want to be as an example for my team. I want to make sure I communicate clearly. I'll make time for this. Alright. That's out of the way, that's all we know, but when I get to run now, what am I going to do to open my heart today?
What am I really going to do? Like when I do breathing to bring energy to my brain? I bring where I'm going to go, what I want to experience, how I do that, let me review that, okay, then I'm going to open my focus, I'm going to go deeper into nothingness, I'm going to go. as much as I can and when I get to that point then I'm going to create and when I create this is what I'm going to create, so I'm not thinking about what I'm there, what should I create? I already have everything figured out I'm rehearsing I'm clarifying what I'm going to do I'm clarifying what I'm not going to do I'm going to clarify how my last meditation was and how I want to evolve my next meditation so that when I get to my game box I'm not analyzing .
I'm thinking because I'm analyzing thinking I can't get it right so I'll figure it out if I have to. half an hour, I give myself two hours if it takes me half an hour to clear up and then sometimes there are disturbing things that I have to get through because there are meetings and things like that, but I just go, that's it always. you're going to figure it out this is you this is your moment it's interesting for Joe that for many of us for many people meditation is almost like your pre-day ritual, so you meditate to prepare for your day, how you're going to be, but when you talk of your morning routine you have a premeditation ritual, yes, which I find really very interesting because I want to get into it, I want to get into it, I want to like it, I want to assign a meaning to it, yes, to what I'm doing when you sign what does it mean? after you turn on your prefrontal cortex and the prefrontal cortex tells everyone who is not involved in this intention to calm down, calm down so that the frontal lobe actually turns down the volumes of the circus in the brain that are disturbing when you assign meaning to something you get more value from it, so I learned that if I just go in and do my meditation, sometimes they're wonderful because I've done it enough times, but if I just leave it it just doesn't have any meaning if it doesn't have any meaning it just becomes another routine you're doing your meditation but you're thinking about your coffee you're drinking your coffee you're already thinking about your emails your brain is in anticipation machine we lose our free will to that kind of programming, so after I get my thinking box really clear, It's like when I used to play golf, I would just look at where I was going to hit the ball and I was thinking about the club I was going to use how I was going to swing and how I was going to feel.
I'll figure it all out in my thinking box when I get my gaming box. I've already thought everything out, now I'm just going to execute it correctly. So we found that when people do that, we do it at our week-long events. I will always tell the audience that it is okay after returning from the break. So go to someone now and I want you to have a conversation about what you love about yourself what you did really well in that last meditation what you stuck to what felt good what you executed really well I want you to articulate that and remind yourself to play it back.
That same level of Mind installs the neurological Hardware firing and wiring so that you can step on that footprint and do it again in the next meditation. So I tell them that now let's light a match in a dark place. If you had another chance to do another meditation, what would you bring? What would you work on to improve? What would you realize that you don't want to do? What you did in that last meditation. Let's make it very clear what you are not going to do and if you had another chance, what you would do and in some ways those types of ways. the brain for the next experience so that they evolve their experience because they are in the experience now they are like oh yeah, I'm not going to get off, I'm not going to leave my job, I'm not leaving my ex's leaving I'm going to go straight I'm going to keep going you can make those turns at the beginning it's normal but you start making those turns and suddenly you realize that I'm not going to make those turns and you go through the exit.
I walk past them too old. I drive past the two of them out of shape. I drive right after my season may disappear. There's something wrong with me. You keep going through those. Next thing you know, you come across something big, so it's trial and error, you know. I mean, this is very important for people to realize that if it took them two years to develop their health condition, it's not going to go away. go to meditations you know what I tell them I say you're not that good you're just not that good just become real here like one foot in the quantum world one foot in the real world this I'm pragmatic I don't want to talk about quantum superposition if it has no value in my life.
I want to talk about what my experiences involve, so if you are really in the game of change, then you would be rehearsing how you were. I'll be on the next Zoom meeting if you were really wrong on the last one, if you didn't, you wouldn't say oh, I'm like that because of that person or that circumstance, that's that show of being a victim saying that person. or that circumstance is actually controlling the way I feel and think that my response to that person is making me sick, it is actually weakening the organism, okay, next time I have that opportunity, if I am really in the game of evolution, let's see if I can stay. in my heart and all the time I'm not going to react, that will be a victory for me, that would be a victory, so at the end of the day, you leave.
I actually love myself. In fact, I have my behaviors up to par. my intentions my actions were the same as my thoughts I had a new experience yes, it really felt good hey, I'm going to do that again and you start doing it with your children, you start doing it by opening the door to the person leaving the building offices, you start letting people go ahead of you in traffic. You're great, you're no longer in that Vigilant State. There are enough people doing that now. You know, suddenly you start noticing your wife. a little different or shock suddenly starting to smile a little more seem much more relaxed and calm people will start to relax and cool down around you because the mirror neurons in the tribes say "hey, there's someone doing something that me" I would like to do it, I just need evidence to be able to do it and all of a sudden you start developing a community of people, yeah, who start behaving differently.
What is the meaning of what is called an emergency? An emerging Consciousness is that everyone behaves differently and that is. What is going to change the world? You know, I'm sorry, interrupt if you're enjoying this content, there's a lot more like this on my channel, so take a moment to hit subscribe, hit the notification bell, and now come back to the conversation, you know one of the main ones. The idea I get from your work is that we all have a choice, we can choose and practice the way we want to feel so that we really start to feel it every day.
You already mentioned the victim mentality a little bit and I want to talk a little bit. we'll talk about that shortly because I think a lot of people will say that I am the way I am because of this and we'll get to that in just a second before we move on to that for someone who's watching this or listening to this and they're intrigued and I'm going Okay, I understand that. I have a choice. I can practice feeling a heightened emotion. They also hear you say that this can take time. If you've spent 10 years stressed, it won't happen overnight and sometimes it does, but sometimes. can do it, how quickly could someone if they wake up and don't pick up the phone and don't turn on the news and decide to engage in a meditation, maybe with a premeditation ritual like you do, how quickly could someone start doing it? feeling the difference one day is two days or is it realistic that within seven days someone will start to feel very different, okay, let's talk about this because I don't want to mislead anyone.
Knowledge is the precursor to experience, the more people understand what they are. what they are doing and why they are doing it, the how becomes easier and this is a moment in history where it is not enough to know. This is a moment in history to know how the practical application to understand that philosophy, that theory, that intellectual knowledge, that information once. you start to apply it, personalize it and demonstrate it, the more you can understand why you do it and what you do it, the more value you get out of it, that's why we have people who are diagnosed with serious health problems who are nurses. who are cancer researchers who are doctors who are engineers or just a person who really wants to understand the content now it's much easier to forget this information than to remember it's just that I always laugh at myself because I have to go back and relearn it again and I think I know it pretty well and yet I forget it, I don't know why, but that's the way it is, so when our meditations become obsolete it's because we forget what we're doing right, so the person who really really knows take the time to study instead of watching Netflix instead of scrolling through Tick Tock instead of using your phone and mindlessly texting or whatever.
I want to set aside one hour a day and I will learn this information when you sit down. to do the work, they are present, yes, they understand that if they feel this emotion, they are going to signal a new gene in a new way, if they feel the other emotion, they will downregulate that gene. and upregulate your disease gene, so now it's an understanding, yes, if I rehearse how I'm going to be mentally, I will install the hardware in my brain, if I keep doing it, it will become a software program and it will start. acting that way it's okay if I say I can't it's too hard I'm too tired I don't feel good those are the things that hold me back it's okay but what if I start saying that anything is possible?
I believe in synchronicities what if with my intention and attention, I made it really clear that that would be the new voice in my head, so now the person who is really present and not thinking about their shower or the emails they have to do or their cell phone or their text messages or when they have to take their kids to ballet or whatever they are going to get to all of that, the person who is actually present if they follow the instructions, we have seen them have very significant changes first and Their subjective experience of themselves is like huh, wow, my back. the pain isn't fair, that's a little strange or God, I slept better last night, these little indicators or comments tell you that whatever you are doing inside yourself is producing a result outside of you, keep it up for a period of time and We see instrumental changes taking place in the person now, another person who has had a series of traumas and who has been abused in some way since childhood is facing many health conditions, many emotional and psychological conditions that we do not want to heal. in one go.
This week we want you to work to overcome those emotional states and those are the victories, so sit downin meditation and when your body starts to shake or you start to get anxious instead of quitting and saying I can't meditate because that would be the extent of that person just curious what's on the other side of this can I can I turn the volume down on this emotion my body craves this emotion let me settle into the present moment that would be a victory for that person with a lot of trauma there is a moment in meditation where they feel uncomfortable how easy it would be how am I going to stop I'm going to post on Instagram I'm going to have a coffee I'm going to do anything else to distract me certain certain you're saying that's the key moment where you want to sit with it and hopefully get over it.
What I'm saying is that there is no such thing as a bad meditation, it's just you overcoming them, people think I'm doing my meditation wrong, no, you're doing it right even if it's difficult, that's the moment that's going to define the person, so then the person. person says oh God, I feel very uncomfortable. I'm not a good meditator or something is wrong with me. They are my traumas. My past. They are my parents. It's whatever. The person who says no, no, I'm going to sit in the presence of this anxiety and I'm going to continue working with my body I'm going to keep turning down the volume on that emotion now listen keep turning down the volume on the emotion you're going to take your attention away from it. that problem from the past because you only put your attention on that problem from the past because of the emotion, a lot of this is a complete paradigm shift for the current way that most of society is and the way that society is taught. modern society, whether it's school or university, you know, we talk if I talk through the lens of a doctor. doctor and observing the health of my patients for many years, I have said listen, you know that we are missing many key skills as doctors because you know that what we have learned can be really good for acute problems and emergency situations. but it doesn't tend to work as well for these chronic conditions that didn't happen overnight and that developed because of our lifestyle and I've said this many times in the media over the last few years, about 80 percent of the time.
What we see. is somehow connected to our collection of modern lifestyles. You know, I don't blame people. I'm just saying that the way we live these days leads to not only things like obesity, type 2 diabetes, but also anxiety, depression, migraines, uh. gut problems low libido whatever this barrage of problems we're seeing now, as the Dr. says, but I have to say, over the last few years I've been wondering, well, yeah, I still maintain that that's the case and I still want making and helping people make those lifestyle changes, but I actually realize that it's not the root cause, it's not.
I can go further. Yes, lifestyle is important if it could help people change, yes it changes its consequences on their health, but the way we think is mental. well-being our happiness In fact, I came to the conclusion last year, so that is even more important than lifestyle because if we change the way we think and approach the world and respond to external people and events instead of react unconsciously, that creates a new environment in our body where we naturally make better decisions in our lifestyle; In fact, those lifestyle choices no longer feel like an effort because many times those lifestyle behaviors are simply a way of managing the stress in our lives, could you say something like that?
I mean, how would you see it? Do you agree with that? Do you have a different perspective? I'm very, very interested in hearing your thoughts. No, no, I absolutely agree with that, I absolutely do and I just think I think that, um, one thing is that if it took you five years to live in chronic stress and live and what are the emotions of stress and survival aggression anger hate um competition judgment insecurity Envy jealousy pain suffering guilt shame fear anxiety depression hopelessness helplessness all those are derived from hormones Stress and psychology call normal human states of consciousness, those are altered states of consciousness, so if you are living in an emergency and your response to your coworker, to your boss, to the news traffic, to whatever, weakens the organism and you are activating that emergency system over time no organism can live in emergency mode for a period prolonged period of time you are drawing from the body's vital resources and converting all its energy into chemistry for some time real or imagined threat, okay, so if you continue doing that in chronic conditions, there is no energy to grow and repair yourself, so Make sure you take action after watching this video.
I have created a free breathing guide that will help you reduce stress, calm your mind and increase your energy in this guide. I share with you six really simple breathing practices that work immediately, even just a minute a day will start to make a big difference to receive your free guides, all you have to do is click the link in the description box below there is no energy for long term construction projects the immune system decreases the digestive system goes out of phase hormones change our cardiovascular system changes our respiratory system changes this is because the body thinks it is living in a dangerous environment, okay then The problem then is that the excitement of these stress hormones that create fear, that create anger, aggression or pain, give the body a surge of energy.
Now people become almost like an addict, they need the problems in their life to reaffirm their addiction to that excitement. that emotion and now if you can activate that response through thought, just number one you become addicted to your own thoughts and number two, you become addicted to life itself, life that you don't even like, yeah, so you ask person. Why are you like this and will they say that I am like this because of this event that happened to me five years ago? Well, what that really means is that they had a really deep emotional experience and the stronger the emotion we feel, the more upset we feel.
Within us, the more we pay attention to what causes it and the brain freezes a frame and takes a snapshot and that's called long-term memory and then that person is biologically altered by that trauma of that event and what they do. What I don't know is that every time they remember the event they are producing the same chemistry in their brain and body as if the event were happening. Well, then you tell the person why you are like this and then they will tell you the story of what it was like. happened and memory research says that 50 of that story, the way you told it is actually not accurate, it's not actually true that people don't have the same brain so they embellish the story to excuse themselves from changing and if they make it more difficult or add more components to it, then now they will reaffirm their identity by being a certain way, that story becomes very important to them and they believe it, they behave like it and eventually they become that, so can you use those? same principles and start to start managing your inner world and by regulating, taking time before starting the day and saying "okay", before I pick up my cell phone, before I get up and execute my routine, you know my routine automatic, where people are on autopilot. and in a habituation to what they did yesterday and their body is dragging them towards the same predictable future based on what they did in the past and they have lost their free will to choose to become conscious of a set of automatic programs, well if the family past is the known and the predictable future is the known.
There is only one place where the unknown exists and that is the sweet spot of the present moment. So if you said okay, let me be present here, let me remind myself of those thoughts that aren't. I don't want to think let me remind myself of the behaviors I want to change let me review in my mind the emotions that caused me to move to a lower denominator let me become so aware of it that I won't become unconscious again let me remind myself of who I want to be how I want to think how I want to act how I want to feel and let me see if I can be as good at doing this with my eyes closed when I start the day I can do it with my eyes open now this river of change you know people say I can't predict my future well the best The way to predict it is to create it not in the known but in the unknown so our research shows that if you teach a person they go a little further than where they normally stop, you know, when they feel uncomfortable, they give up and reach for their phone. cell phone or they say, "I'm busy, I have a lot to do if you really keep people there and show them how to do it." to stretch a little further, yes, and they go beyond the known and there is no danger, there is no threat, there is no survival, the body actually begins to relax in the present moment and when that happens, we see this over and over again, the energy moves directly to the heart and now suddenly the heart begins to beat with more order, more coherence, the autonomic nervous system is no longer dysregulated by stress, it is beginning to organize and this feeling feels good, so , if you can maintain that state regardless of the conditions of your environment. then you are dominating your environment, you are dominating your life, the answer most of the time, if you do not change your response to the conditions of your life, then nothing will change, including you, so, in chronic stress, then the person who living in chronic stress they are mismanaging their attention because when you are stressed stress is created because you cannot predict something but you have lost control or you have the perception that something is getting worse and then look at the world in which we live.
Right now, people are in chronic stress, they don't know it, but now they need the arousal to wake them up and then they need something outside of them, their cell phone, the television, whatever it is a movie, a drug or a drink, it to be. Make that feeling go away and once you notice the change in that internal state, you pay attention to what caused it and you are now more dependent on the external environment, so is it possible to teach a person to create more coherence in their life? brain and heart and we have data that suggests you could change your brain in four days and make it work better.
You can make your heart able to exchange resentment for patience and frustration for high emotions and train people how to create more coherence in their heart. The side effect. Of that, doing that every day that we've done, the research will strengthen your immune system by up to 50 percent, because because your response is not weakening you, you are not a victim of your environment, so if you are not a victim of your environment, then you are less susceptible to anything in your environment, whether it's big or small or tiny, it's microbes or whatever, so when the person understands that, they say, "My God," this hate, this fear, This anger that I have become so accustomed to, I literally have to change. that and when we do it, you have to understand that the body is going to crave the familiar feelings because that's what it's used to and this is work and people come to our work and say, I think I'm doing my meditation wrong. because your body is getting excited and it's getting frustrated say no, no, no, no, you're actually doing it right, so now instead of reaching for your cell phone, we're going to give you something to do to calm your body down from that excitement. . state, yes, say it, it is no longer the mind you are in, you are the mind and that is a victory, then the person leaves.
I don't like this feeling. I do not know what I'm doing. I want to get up. I want to stop I want to go eat I want When does this end and you become aware that your body wants to move into the predictable future and now you are going to execute a will that is greater than the program and return the body to the present? moment, that is also a victory and if you keep doing this over and over again and you know that the stronger the emotions we feel, the more we pay attention to them, so every problem, every person in your life that you have an emotion associated with , you give it to him. your attention, so as you turn down the volume on your emotions, you take attention away from your personal life and the only way you are going to change your personal reality is to go beyond your personality and the only way you are going to go.
To change your personal reality is to go beyond your memory, yes, of all the associations through your personal reality and if you are going to heal your body, you have to go beyond your body, so you have to go beyond its habituations, you have to go further. These emotional responses and you have to tell the body that it is no longer the mind that you are the mind and at first it is tedious, but working with your body like training an animal there we notice that there is a release of energy and the So, the person If you go a little further than you normally do instead of picking up your cell phone or posting something on social media, you'll stick with it and be curious to know what's on the other side of this limited thinking. this familiar emotion, what's on the other side of this, complaining, judging andanalyze what is on the other side, there is not much agreement in society now that says that Rankin you have to sit with yourself and get to know yourself.
I become so aware of those unconscious thoughts, behaviors and emotions that I will not become unconscious again and we discover that the process of overcoming is the process of becoming and people continue to overcome, overcome, overcome and then they become that other person biologically, yes , I mean. This is so powerful. You mentioned curiosity. I think it's such a wonderful emotion. I thought it was valuable for all of us to have a focus in our lives. What would it be like if I didn't wake up and feel like this every day, even just imagining? that that's a possibility be curious about that I think that's very empowering you also said that many of us have become addicted to a life that we don't even like that has stayed with me that's very powerful and I think I think that people really I need to sit with that, you mentioned rehearsing, but a lot of us are rehearsing these negative emotions, we're rehearsing stress, we're getting better at being in stress because we practice every day and you're offering the chance to say Hello. listen to this it may be uncomfortable at first we know we talk about comfort zones, you know, go for a run longer than usual, get out of your comfort zone, take a cold shower, get out of your comfort zone, but I think That's what your work talks about.
We can get out of our comfort zone in our minds, so not with physical actions, but in our minds, let's get out of our comfort zone. Let's think differently and I wrote this um, this uh, comments on YouTube, um, Dr. Joe, which one of you do you know? Many videos that have millions of views had this comment at the top. I saw this video a year ago. It completely changed my life. I got rid of 15 years of depression. I lost 15 kilos of weight. I climbed another 1,200 meters on my Cooper Test. I took my company from bankruptcy to profit and established three more companies.
I haven't been sick once after this. I basically got addicted to the positive and real experiences like that, I really think they speak to the power of your work, you know there are real empowerments that you're giving to people, a lot of people, uh, Dr. Joe may be struggling and going Well, look, I understand that yes, I don't like the way I think, but I don't know how to do it. Change that right, so in terms of getting us to maybe some practical things that people can do, you need awareness first. Hopefully this conversation gives people that awareness, but if people aren't aware, how can they become aware and once they become aware, what kind of things should they do? what do they start doing to start making those changes yeah, thanks for clarifying that, that's a great question, you know, um, my interest is in giving people the tools so that they have at their fingertips all the things that they need to start apply. and become scientists in their lives, people don't know, if you don't know that you know those stress hormones are addictive, then you will think that they have power over you, if you don't believe that you can change your way of thinking just because having a thought doesn't It necessarily means that it is true and at the moment I realized I was free, right?
And if you isolate yourself too much and don't do it, you're not in the world for whatever you do. You will start to believe that every thought that you believe is true, then that challenge is to say, "Okay, I really want to be happy." I really want to be healthy. I really want to have a life like that. really empowering, I feel good, well, let's take a look, if it's no different from well, you use the example of Tiger Woods, it's no different than Tiger Woods watching himself swing on a video watching himself play, no different than a person standing in front of him. an audience and you give a lecture and you watch them give the lecture no one else will see what they see they will see themselves very differently than others and they will see themselves doing it and they will want to self-correct They will want to evolve their experience now because we have this great frontal lobe 40 of our entire brain which is our consciousness, which is the seat of our consciousness, which is our creative center when we ask ourselves what it would be like to be in a different life or to be happy if instead of using your cell phone or instead of using your social media instead of turning on the TV or instead of calling a friend and instead of doing something that distracts you from that possible response if you sat with it long enough in that Creative Center on, it would naturally scan the entire landscape of the brain because he is the CEO, he is the leader of the symphony, he has connections with all parts of the brain and he will look at the landscape of the brain and look at the knowledge. you've learned and the experiences that are stitched into your brain that are associated with what you know to answer that question and as you activate these different networks of neurons, once the brain activates together, you get a picture in your mind . and that's called intention, you see a new possibility, so that's why I'm passionate about what we're doing.
I never thought, Rankin, that I would see the kind of changes in people's physical health that I have seen in the last two years. now people do the best they can with what they think is available, if you don't know that this is possible, you are going to make the same decision and you may depend on some pharmaceutical, something external to you, some therapy, whatever , there is nothing wrong with that, but If your response has not changed in your life, the effectiveness of whatever you are doing will be diminished. Well, once you know that people can be cured of different health conditions, there is scientific evidence and there is evidence and testimonies like The person you just recited is one of many people who have had that experience when they stand on stage in our week-long retreats and we call them, why do I call them on stage?
Because they are telling the truth. They are the example of the Truth and I want people to become aware of that possibility because if you are not aware of it it does not exist for you. Consciousness is the correct consciousness and so with Consciousness you cannot have Consciousness without energy, so there is that thought of another possibility, it is a different energy, it is a different possibility and now, once you know that it is possible, then it is okay. , now let's start stepping on the footprints that other people have left behind, why if you are telling the story of your past every day and 50 of it isn't even true, then you are reliving a miserable life that you never had, all with the reason to excuse yourself from change, stop telling the story of your past and start telling the story of your future.
Stop falling in love with your past and start falling in love with your future, why not fall in love with your future as much as you fell in love with your past? If I do this as an experiment and you are scientifically minded, make your life the experiment, make your life. The experiment is fine, I will feel uncomfortable if I start making different decisions, that's fine, but I'm not going to do White Knuckle and stay in this unknown. What I'm going to do is work on making my brain. work better, let's work to make my heart work better, let's put it all together and practice, and then at first, if it doesn't happen in two days, most people give up, because Amazon Prime can deliver to your door in one day and you're used to it to that kind of right to the convenience of really creating and making changes, if it took you five years to develop this health condition, it may take you a little bit of time to uncreate it, but what you are looking for are those small subtle changes in your life and in your body, once you start to see those changes, you are now more involved and you cannot believe in a new future without believing in yourself and you cannot believe in yourself without believing in a new future.
You just have to choose yourself every day, so the person who was there when the drugs and everything else didn't work, was their own resource and understood that this was their medicine, so every day, every day, They said: how did I do it? What do I do at the end of my day? When did I fall from grace? When did I become unconscious? When did I get back to my old self? Let me rehearse it tomorrow I want to evolve my experience and it was no longer about healing, it was about changing and they stand on stage and say oh God.
I just realized that I need to work on this more with my eyes open. I have to stay in this emotional state. I have to keep the vision alive in my mind and it's much easier to forget. that vision of your future that remembering it and it takes repetition and practice and there is a very strong change that happens when people start making efforts, something so simple to do, get up in the morning before picking up your cell phone, ask yourself . who I don't want to be anymore let me write down today's thoughts let me become so aware that I can't now this is horrible I hate my life let's stop that thought because that thought is going to produce a chemical that is going to tell your body to feel a certain way way, let's become aware of how I behave, write down two behaviors, I complain, I blame, I rush, write them down and simply commit them, review them in your mind, what emotions I want to stop feeling today. or at least stay aware of, do I feel sadness?
I feel suffering, do I feel fear? I feel anxiety, let me become aware of that and if I start to feel that, I just want to become aware and see if I can change it, okay? I want to switch to when I feel that let me think this way let me review that let me review how I'm going to behave let me rehearse it in my mind let me teach my body emotionally I want to be able to feel this feeling over and over again very good. I will keep practicing feeling it until I can feel it when you tell me to.
Wow, that's greatness, you know, that's getting out of the stands and onto the playing field and it's not going to be linear. process is nothing more than catching yourself and when it matters most is when it's hardest, that's when it matters most yeah, I mean, it's just wonderful, right, wonderful to hear you speak with so much passion. I love that idea that we should be our own experiment because what? What I hear is listen, there are no side effects, well there's no down side, he said, give it a good try, give it a try, there's no downside to trying to change the way you think, practice it and develop it as a skill and I think that's What to me is a skill that you can practice, you can improve, just like if you get PR, you know you practice running, you can get faster and run longer distances, well, let's also practice thinking in a different way, like this what I thought that was really important for people to keep in mind.
I practice on myself. I'm in my early 40s and I've never really felt so good. Dr. J. calm, content, happy. I know that I am responsible for my emotions and my thoughts, so I have now trained for probably five or six years to get to the point where external events I simply no longer allow to influence my state and what you said about that is not linear, yeah, I have a daily practice and morning routine that includes a little bit of meditation, a little bit of breathing, a little bit of positive mindset and you just keep showing up, you keep doing it and then before you know it you're in some kind of hole stressful situation you are in. a situation in life that before would have seemed incredibly stressful to you and made you negative, um, you know, like this subsequent negative mindset that would have led you to all kinds of compensatory behaviors and you're like, oh wow, I didn't react to that.
I could see that big gap between the stressor and the response and I want to be respectful of your time, but I would love to briefly cover meditation and brain waves if you had the time because I think that's really helpful for people to understand. That's okay, let's demystify it. I looked it up, you know, I looked up the symbol, what does that symbol mean that represents meditation? and the actual translation of the word means to become familiar with that is what it means, then, when you become aware of your unconscious. thoughts, behaviors and emotions and become familiar with them, if you can become so aware that you don't go unconscious and confront your old self and have those thoughts, you are in a meditation, that's a good thing, right?
You can trigger and wire the new thoughts and rehearse the new behaviors and practice exchanging survival chemicals for higher emotions and keep practicing those heart-centered emotions, they will begin to feel familiar, so break the habit of the old self and reinvent yourself. The new self-unlearning and relearning is the model of change, okay, but when you live in stress and you live in survival and the brain gets excited about what we are doing when we lost control or we cannot predict what is going to happen. What happens is that we try to control and predict everything in our lives and the activation of stress hormones causes our brain to move into these brain wave states called high beta.
We're talking now and we're in low-level beta. in beta and beta it is conscious awareness or we are aware that we are local in a body, we are occupying a body in space and time in an environment in time and the sensory system is collecting all thisvital information through our environmental senses and beta brain waves create coherence between our inner world and our outer world, it's okay if I said oh, there will be uh at dinner tonight and I'm going to invite you, there will be 10 people there. . and please just remember all their names uh your brain would focus on a mid-range beta state, it's not a bad stress, it's just that you have to get a little, the light bulb gets a little brighter, you have to get a little more aware a little more awake but when you're frustrated when you're angry when you're impatient when you're resentful uh when you're afraid you're in these high beta brain wave patterns and then that high beta is the alarm is the alert is an emergency there's a threat There is a danger so we shift our attention from one person to another person to another problem to another meeting to another thing to another place to the Past in each of those circuits in our brain that are associated with everything we know in our life begins to light up. out of order like a thunderstorm in the cloud because our attention is shifting.
It turns out that the brain starts firing very incoherently and we focus too much on the why of things because we don't want them. happen again and that's why excitement causes this incoherence in the brain and when the brain is incoherent we are incoherent and the person in survival the Primitive system is saying focus on the matter reduce your focus on the danger focus on something material why does that happen because the sense intensifies and we become materialistic so you are not going to be thinking about anything else, if something runs sharply through the bushes and it is dark, you are going to pay attention to that, so this type of habituation of narrowing our focus or concentrating too much becomes the common way people think when they're in Survival.
I think that's focused, so we said, Well, how are we going to teach people how to change ways? What happens if you move from a narrow focus and focusing on objects in the material world to broadening your focus or creating a divergent focus instead of a convergent focus? and opening your focus and focusing on nothing but space nothing known nothing material and the act of sensing space tends to slow down the brain waves and begins to suppress the analytical mind when you are in survival you are stressed you are too analytical and our research shows that If you analyze yourself and analyze the problems in your life within that excited emotional state 100 of the time you will make your brain worse, you will drive it more towards those high beta states and that is It's like driving your sports car in first gear in the highway, it simply won't work in time, so when you widen your focus and feel nothing, the acts of feeling and sensing cause you to stop analyzing and thinking and your brain waves begin to slow down. to a slower brain wave state and you move past the analytical mind and move into what is now called Alpha brain waves, Alpha and beta brain waves, your outer world is more real than your inner world than Alpha, your inner world begins to become more real than the outside world. and the voice in your head that by default speaks to you all the time tends to turn off and the brain begins to imagine, begins to see in images and images, that is Alpha, it is an imaginary state, it is a creative state, but when you feel the space.
What happens that is so unique is those different compartments of the brain that were subdivided when the person senses space. Not only does it go into Alpha, the brain starts to synchronize different communities of neurons that we're firing out of order, they start to resonate in coherence and the order and the front of the brain are starting to resonate with both sides of the brain and all of a sudden, you see more communities of neurons coming together and what sinks in the brain connects in the brain now that the person has a coherent Alpha brain wave. patterns now, all of a sudden, the brain becomes more integrated and they can start to retain an image and focus or dream or a man, we all do this when we drive in the car on the highway, it's okay, there's nothing wrong with that, but then if you can get your body to relax even more so that it is in light sleep, it feels so safe that it could actually rest in light sleep while you are conscious and awake, relaxed and awake, now you are in a pattern of brain waves called Theta now in Theta the lights go out in the thinking neocortex the memory bank the autobiographical self is literally off your connection to the environment so your body and time literally change if the lights go out in the neocortex then you arrive beyond your identity and we see that when a person is in Theta, the door between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind is wide open to information and when you go beyond the analytical mind, then you open the door between the conscious mind and subconscious mind, that's what separates it. the analytical mind you are now suggestible to information you are in a hypnotic state and you can rewrite a program you can rewrite a new script you can change the way you behave you can change the way you are Pro you can reprogram yourself to do something different and you can't do it In high beta because you are not in the operating system, you have to go beyond the conscious mind to the subconscious mind to rewrite those programs, so teaching people how to regulate and change their brain waves is an important element, but what? what happens with the heart?
Because creating a new future requires clear intention and high emotion. It is the fundamental quality of brain and heart coherence. So can you practice breathing through the heart and practice regulating your heart and practice bringing in? Bring back these high emotions and feel them with your heart and our data suggests that if you put your attention on your heart and just do that for a few minutes, you're actually going to give the heart a very low frequency and that very low frequency is indigenous. to the energy of the heart so that the heart begins to build a small energy field once that happens the heart will inform the brain through the afferent fibers that it will say that it is time to create or that it is safe to create and when the heart becomes coherent sends a very profound signal, like grabbing a big sheet and giving it a little whiplash, there is a wave of energy that goes to the brain and suddenly you see the heart and the brain start to synchronize and now we are in a state creative and the Heart.
It produces an external magnetic field that is up to three meters wide and now we start to feel more complete, we now feel that our future has already happened and we are no longer looking for it, why would we search if we felt that it has already happened and you are really relaxing in the present moment, so by teaching people how to regulate their brain waves and move toward these slower frequencies, people become very good at that and we have data that suggests you could be 91 years old, you could be seven years old, you could be a disease you couldn't have a disease you could eat gluten not eat gluten you could eat meat you could drink wine you could smoke cigarettes it doesn't matter it's just that once people learn the ability to change their brain waves they can open the door between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind but the intention is not enough the intention is the directive it is like the electrical charge in the field the heightened emotion is the magnetic charge it is what it feels like the future has already happened for us so brain heart coherence when you do that together in In some sense they have a Wi-Fi signal that the body emits information and energy and so we teach that as a way for people to really practice going beyond their analytical facilities and when they are able to do that. that, as we said over and over again in this talk, it just becomes natural, it just becomes automatic, it just becomes a skill.
I know that you and your team teach a lot of these methods and meditations on retreats and all kinds of all kinds. in different ways for someone who is inspired by what you've said and thinks you know what I want. I want to dive in here. You know meditation is all the rage these days. Many people from many different fields are talking about it. What do you teach about a specific type of meditation? Do you feel that all types of meditation have value for people to at least begin this journey of opening into space and just stopping the analytical Minds?
You know, I mean, if the environment is that alluring to you. We know and if our body has been conditioned and accustomed to being the mind and we are living in the predictable future or in the familiar past, it makes a lot of sense to start the day by disconnecting from the environment to settle our body in the present moment and go beyond its impulses, your emotions and habits, that is the right act, so we do not teach any specific form of traditional cultural religious meditation, in fact, that usually divides the audience, we look at the data, I mean, we look at the data and we look.
What exactly am I saying or the combination of everything together with the sound and everything that produces these elegant states? Now there's just not enough time, but I can tell you when a person really gets to the zone where they make it. They reach a really transcendental moment when they reach that point of theta and they go into arousal, but arousal is not fear, arousal is not pain, arousal is not aggression, arousal is ecstasy, they are connecting to Ian, yes, that It's the moment. where we see an instant biological improvement that occurs in the person's body.
Energy begins to inform matter and we are lucky enough to be able to capture that in different brain scans, so it makes sense that knowledge is the precursor to experience. so you have to learn, you have to understand what you are doing and why you are doing it, you have to demystify the process, it has to make sense to you, that is why we have so many men at our events, because men love it The science. because I'm not going to listen to my wife, it doesn't make sense to me, but she's very intuitive and she feels, but this I can do this, it makes sense to me, then, when it makes sense to you, then, then, when it makes sense to you.
As an example, we have this little course called the formula and the formula really is understanding the coherence of the brain and the heart. They are 30-minute conferences with five meditations. I think there are 12 or 13 sessions of an easy and digestible way to understand and once you understand the knowledge, I will say, okay, let me try to work in the present moment, okay, now that I understood it, let me try this and so do it. We build, you know, step by step, because I don't want to set people up for

success

and I want to set it up. up so that it's within the realm of their acceptance where they don't go, oh my God, this guy is killing me.
I have, I mean, I have a busy day here and I can't sit here, but it is in increments and it is digestible. and you can understand why you're doing it and what you're doing it, then, then it becomes very easy and that's what we want people to do to experience. Let me try this for two weeks and see if anything changes. in my life, if so, I will continue to do it now, so the communities of people that we have already know a huge community around the world and what I love most about our community is that we are doers, they don't sit, they don't .
I'm not leaving oh God I have to meditate today no, they meditate because they don't want the magic to end in their lives they are doing it because the events are no longer going anywhere to get what they want somehow it seems to be coming to them, yes, they are a magnet, they are some, they are synchronicities, serendipities, coincidences, opportunities come to them as a result of doing the work and now they believe less than the victims of their life and now every coincidence every opportunity informs them that they are the creators of your life and now the game starts to change because now if you really believe that you are the creator of your life then you have to make time to create and experiment in the game. game called life, yes it's so powerful.
I think at least I think this conversation would have inspired people to say I can change the shape. I think maybe I can start my day if I don't allow input from the outside world to keep my cell phone off. uh, keep the TV off, keep the news off, spend some time with myself thinking that rehearsing even that would be a great start for people to start changing the pattern, the addiction to life that they currently have, uh, if we had more time, there is much more. I would have talked to him about maybe we could have a party at some point in the future, but before you go, Dr.
Joe, this podcast is called feel better, live longer, when we feel better about ourselves, we get more out of it. of our lives and I think it is very From his research and his years of serving people it is clear that when we think better, when we think differently, we are going to get more out of our lives. Do you have any thoughts or final words for people who are struggling and don't know where? To change, they think that the way they currently feel is the way they always felt. You will feel and are getting a little inspiration here.
Do you have any final words for them to help them know how to take that journey? yes, it's very simple, you already know how to do this. Everyone on this podcast has done something great in their lives. Everyone has done something great. And what happened, you had a crazy idea and you stuck to that idea long enough that you started feeling the emotions of that future before it happened and no person, no circumstance, no condition in your life would deter you from that future and the people who actually make the change, I mean, some people say well, I believe in this, I just believe, I just believe it.
It works for everyone else, but it doesn't work for me now, this is a decisive moment, so you have to make a decision at that moment and you have to make a decision with such strong intention that the breadth of that decision carries a level of energy that causes. Your body responds to your mind that the choice you make to change your life becomes a moment in time that you never forget and the stronger the emotion you feel in that choice, the more you remember that decision and that is a big quantum explosion. . field and you are giving your body a taste of the future emotionally and if we did that every day and we woke up from our meditations or from our introspection or internal contemplation differently than when we started and if you can maintain that state of mind and body modified everything the day get ready because strange things are going to start happening in your life, it's the law and they're going to come in ways that you would never predict that you would never expect because if you can predict it and expect it, it's the We know that it has to come in a way that surprises us and that leaves no doubt that what we are doing within ourselves is producing some effect outside of us and the moment we correlate the changes we are making within ourselves with the effect we are producing outside of us, we are going to pay attention to what we did and are going to do again and that's when we start to be more creators of Our Lives instead of victims of Our Lives.
We know how to do it. We already know how to do it. The brain is programmed to be creative. It's just that we. We have to learn to break the survival state and those automatic thoughts and those habituations of behaviors and emotions that we experience every day to the point that when we overcome it we become someone else and who becomes the beneficiary. of that thing that we do and then the people that we are in our life that we love and then our community and ultimately the world and us, the people in our work always say this, they go back to their lives and people say, hey, what's the matter? you are different what is it what did you do you look different what happened of course no and what is happening is that the person is appearing and the person who is seeing it the memory of it is already fitting the person is in a phase in which it is them it's us we see people how we remember them and suddenly something is wrong something is different about that person why is that important because if there is nothing wrong with reacting we all react this question is how long do you react if you are in response, like you said before , it has changed based on the challenges or conditions in your life and people notice that you are giving them permission in their lives to do the same, you are not saying, hey, look at me, hey, this is how you should do it.
Instead, this is the moment in the story where you say, let me show you what compassion looks like, let me demonstrate leadership from my heart, let me show you, I want to give you permission, uh, because of mere neurons, this is how it works and what happens is that an emerging Consciousness begins to take place, a commercial Consciousness and a week-long retreat with 1600 people may start with a state of mind and body, but at the end of that week there is an emerging Consciousness and the people are completely professional. -the social networks in their brain are activated they are communicating they are connecting they are more present more grateful in the moment that is the natural state of being so it is worth the effort you ask the person who never missed the 18 day day 18 months of doing their meditation to heal their health condition, you asked them if it was worth it, they will tell you that my illness was my greatest teacher.
I am so blessed to have her or to have had her because I am different now. person to make sure she is taking action after watching this video. I've created a free guide to help you develop healthy habits. We can all make short-term changes, but can those changes become a fundamental part of our lives? Often this is not the case. and that is why in this free guide I share with you the six crucial steps that you must follow and that are really effective. If you want to get that free guide right now, all you have to do is click the link in the description box under trauma. true, there is a lot of growing awareness now about trauma, the impacts of our childhood, how we are spoken to, the beliefs we took on as children, how that affects us as adults, now one approach to dealing with trauma is to go there and undo it. and figuring it out and seeing a therapist and detailing what happened, why it happened, you know, understanding why you're behaving a certain way as an adult now.
I think for a lot of people, I include myself in this, which can be incredibly powerful and incredibly important. but I also see that when I think about your work I wouldn't say it's necessarily mutually exclusive from the outside, at least, but is there a danger that we can spend too much time in our trauma processing our trauma trying to think about it because effectively it's a message clue? Your job is don't get caught up in those emotions from the past don't let your past define you think about that vision the future starts to feel what you want to feel in the future so you can experience it right now, but someone can come back, review your trauma , try to process it and that approach is consistent with yours or I would say it's a better approach or a different approach is don't waste time there, just create the new reality.
Yes, I think I'm on the way. In the midst of this, okay, I think there are many modalities that work for trauma. What I have discovered is that Insight never really changes. Behavior, you could see that your father was domineering or he was an alcoholic or you could see all these different things that you know as you. I could come to the understanding of all these different things, the problem I see with people is that they tend to excuse their change by saying, "Oh, I had a difficult childhood, that's why I am the way I am." I am excusing your current position.
Again, trauma is a difficult thing, but for me, the person who lives by the identity in their life that they were traumatized as a child or whatever or that they've had trauma in their life, I'm not saying to forget the trauma. and create another. emotion I'm saying the person who is willing to go through the emotion and keep working to turn it down. Look, we've had so many people in this job with brutal pasts, really difficult pasts, they do the work and they finally got to that point. where they just let go of the emotion, they look back and I've interviewed enough of them, it's the same thing where they look back at their entire past and they don't want to change anything in their past because it brought them to this elegant moment. where they are freed they see their traitors they see their abusers they have nothing but love for them now the side effect of that and many times they will say it was as if my heart opened wide they had to go through the valley of the shadow of the Darkness to get there and they just thought, I don't know if I can go any further and they went one more time and the body was literally freed from the past because trauma is not just in the brain, trauma is emotionally stored in the body so you want to get it out. the body of the past outside the known what do you think the body is going to say if it has been conditioned to be the mind the unknown is a terrifying place where you go out into the unknown where you go when you are not prepared for that trauma, you don't know how It's going to happen and so the person continues to hold on to the known, but when the person finally overcomes the emotion, the body literally breaks free from the chains of the past, the side effect of that.
It is seeing the past from a higher level of Consciousness behold, there go the suicidal tendencies, there goes the dysfunction, there goes the irritable bowel syndrome, that is because the body was still living in that past event living for the same emotion, then research on memory. It's a fascinating thing and I've studied it enough and the way we tell the past is not the way it happened, even if you absolutely believe you remember it was that way, so we don't have the same brains as us. we did when we were eight years old or 12 years old or 20 years old we have a different brain we have a completely different brain so the fabrication of the story for many people they embellish the story and make it seem even worse than it was, but Really what you're saying It's that I changed in those moments and from a biological point of view I have not been able to change since then, so let me tell you why it has been so difficult for me to change and the story becomes dramatized or unadorned. and the person who triggers them shoots themselves into this emotional froth and then they shoot and wire up the same circuits in the brain and they're actually reaffirming their limitation now there's nothing wrong with that.
I think we're just taking too much time, so 50 of that story isn't even the truth, it means that in a sense we are reliving a miserable life that we never had and don't want, but unknown people would rather hold on to their suffering now, this is not a judgement, we all do this, we prefer to stay in the known than risk the unknown because those survival emotions say what to run from the unknown, the unknown is a scary place, so now the unknown you have to face that moment . where you are really going to leave that behind and step into the unknown this is not an intellectual process this is David and Goliath there is a battle going on when the body keeps wanting to return to its familiar state because it has been unconsciously conditioned to be the mind to remain in the known, then if the person keeps revisiting past trauma, I'm not sure enough that when they revisit past trauma, unless they learn to desensitize their emotional response, that that is happening.
By working with them, what I learned is that if the person overcomes the emotion, the memory without the emotional charge is called wisdom and now you no longer belong to the past, so the body becomes frustrated in meditation instead of removing the bandages or turning off the light. the lights come on and they say I hear the voice I can't meditate about them it's too much the sincere person says what's on the other side of I can't what's on the other side of this emotion let me see if I can calm my body Take that emotion out and recondition it to a new mind and the act of doing that at first is very tedious and suddenly the person begins to improve and tells their body that it is no longer the mind that you are the mind that they are executing a will that is greater than that program and just like training an animal, you stay, you're not going to die, I'm going to feed you, you can check your emails, you can check your text messages, but this is my time right now and you keep doing that when the body is still settling in the present moment you accept, you surrender to a new mind and when that happens, we have seen this, we have measured it, there is a release of energy from which we start. particle Far we go From matter to energy that emotion is released from the body and now now there is energy to heal there is energy to create a new life it is valuable energy it is free energy so the person says wow!
I see it from a different level of consciousness I have nothing but love or my kindness I am no longer that person and now you are free from the past now the side effect of that is that there is a biological improvement there is a neurological improvement there is a chemical improvement producing a genetic modification why you think the same way you make the same decisions you do the same things you create the same experiences you feel the same emotions your biology will remain the same because you are the same now the person thinks differently they are making different decisions, they are doing different things or behaving in different ways, they are having new experiences and certainly feeling different emotions, the body reorganizes with a new chemistry and they will tell you that I am not like that. person I am no longer literally that person and there are traitors even if they are family members they have forgiveness for them and what is forgiveness you take your attention away from the emotion you overcome the emotion you do not pay attention to the person or the problem now you are free you become free and you release them and what if someone says look uh, I understand what you're saying, uh, but my ex-husband cheated on me, right, they shouldn't have.
I can't forgive them for what they did and the reason I ask is because this is exactly what happened with one of my patients because this happens a lot. I talk a lot about forgiveness and many people resist and say: Yes, I want to, but you don't know what happened to me this was really very bad so you can't forgive what would you say to that person I would say I want you to think about something in your life thathave done and what you would do like forgiveness for what you don't feel good about and forgive that person the way you would like to be forgiven and forgive yourself.
I mean, we've all done it, we've all had indiscretions, no one, no one, no one is perfect, so that person. that is in that state is still in the emotional state, the problem with that is that new information cannot enter the nervous system that is not the same as the emotion that the person is experiencing because it is not relevant, so the question really is how long do you want to do that, how long do you want to do it and, again, knowledge and information about what that's doing to that person's health and their biology, if you reason, this has happened to us enough times in our work, that's not a unusual situation when the person finally takes his attention off of that and puts it on something else, notices that he feels different, yes, if he can't, you can't just tell a person to forgive because it's enough, it's something ethereal, it's something subjective. right process, so if so, we've seen this, our oxytocin levels and many of our participants increase 200 times, that's a lot, that's a lot of love.
Oxytocin signals nitric oxide. Nitric oxide signals another chemical that literally causes the arteries in your heart and your lungs to expand, there's more energy, there's more blood going into your heart, okay, so when that person diverts attention from their ex, it diverts attention from his past and begins to look at himself, denaturalizing that identity that is based on the past. That person had a reaction to that circumstance and that reaction produces a refractory period of chemicals and emotions, right, and if you don't know how to control that refractory period and it lasts hours or days, it is called a mood, you maintain that same refractory period.
Now it lasts weeks or months, it is a temperament, a long emotional reaction, you maintain that refractory period for years and that is a personality trait and, above all, people's personalities are defined by I am like this because my husband cheated on me, what you are really saying is that you have not changed in 10 years and you are giving your life force to that person who is worth 10 years of your life Yes, who is worth it? So the stronger the emotion we feel, the more we pay attention to the cause where you put your attention is where you put your energy.
A person gives his life force to heal his life force to change that person or that person. circumstance turn down the volume on that emotion yes, you will take your attention away from that person or promise not to the person or problem that they are unconsciously using that person or that circumstance to reaffirm their addiction to that emotion that is why they keep thinking about it if they were not addicted to that emotion, they would stop thinking about it, so is it the person? No, it's your left. We'll take your ex-husband and put him in a rocket ship and a straitjacket.
Let's shoot. the moon now what now what now what do you still have that feeling etched in your brain and conditioned in your body at what point then the research on oxytocin is you can't you can't you can only talk this you can't tell someone to be sorry if still feel the emotion that is separate from the act of forgiving imagine feeling so much love because no one does it to you it actually comes from within you have that um you have that moment that catharsis where you feel the oxytocin levels of the emotion increase slightly in research just a little bit higher a rise in oxytocin makes it impossible to hold a grudge they've done the research on the data you can't hold a grudge you might just go away, I like this feeling better, that feeling and that feeling and because I like it better this feeling that that feeling, you're fine, forget it, yeah, I'm fine, I'm good, that person who falls in love again, whose husband cheated on her. about those who fall in love again and find a person who is smart, loving, kind and loving and gives them, suddenly they can forgive that person like, oh my god, I understood that had to happen because now I have a better person in my life, well, well, if you don't let that go, you'll never have this.
In fact, if you bring that into the next relationship, you won't have a healthy relationship because there will be a trust issue in every relationship. level so you want an equal write exactly what you want and become that person and see what and experiments see what you get try it try it if I get scared if I really work on my God this emotion is actually now that I understand the science behind it , this emotion is actually weakening me every day, it is simply throwing my brain and body out of homeostasis. Stress is when our brain and body are left out of homeostasis and balance, activating the stress response just by thinking, stress hormones.
Stress regulates genes and creates diseases. My thoughts are making me sick. Is that person or circumstance worth it? If my thoughts could make me sick. Is it possible that my thoughts can heal me? Well, now you have to face the belief that it doesn't. I don't really want to believe this, so that really means you want to stay in that emotional state, but go see some testimonials from people who have had that and see the life they are living now. miracles synchronicities opportunities coincidences healings bless your past say my illness that condition that was my best teacher yes that was my best teacher and now the soul is free as we continue with an eternity it is a great place you have to hold on to that emotion for how long you're not doing anything wrong you're just taking too much time that's all yeah and it works it works with anything inside some people want wealth some are bankrupt some people, the business partner, you know, took all the money, some people, it's a relationship, others, it's, a childhood trauma, it's all the same, but what we're looking for is fulfillment, so it's not just the emotion, the emotion. is driving a certain behavior the immersive emotion is driving a certain habit of action the emotion is driving a certain set of thoughts that are associated with that person or that circumstance if you truly believe that you have the power within you to change the first step It would be saying, "I have to take responsibility for myself right now because I have to start thinking differently.
I have to start acting differently. I'm starting to feel different. It's going to be hard. Yes, if it were easy, everyone would be doing it." this, but what is it like?" Self-love is born. I have studied this when the person sits through the fire and sits through all that anxiety, all that hate, all that anger and they keep turning it down, sooner or later the body will release it and when it is released, forgiveness. It's a side effect, you take your attention away from that person because you no longer have the emotion to hold your attention and in fact, you feel so good, it feels better that you naturally forgive, it's not like you're forgiven now, it's not like hey Look at me, I'm forgiving you, it's like wow, isn't it life?
Grace, yeah, you're good, I mean, you're good. I'm going to move on with my life right now, so emotions keep us trapped. the past and we tell that story and we reaffirm it, we get in trouble, you know, subjectively it feels better to forgive and practice gratitude and joy, but biochemically you also change this particular patient when she finally learned to forgive because of her lifestyle. . The diet was fantastic up to that point but she had chronic high blood pressure as soon as she started learning to forgive the blood pressure starts to go down and you know well yes subjectively it feels great but it is literally changing your physiology. at the same time and you know, oh, let me tell you something about that because you could take the keto, vegan, gluten-free, more organic triple filtered water, take all your vitamins, take all your nutrients, work out, do Pilates, do yoga , do your breathing, do everything. of that, balance your body chemically, balance your body physically, but if you're not going to balance your body emotionally, forget about it, yeah, because the moment you get emotional, your body literally goes to the past, that's what matters the most and people once they realize that it's the emotion that's signaling the gene, oh my gosh, I better start taking care of my emotional balance as much as I do my physical exercise, my diet and all that other stuff, yes, I completely agree, this is what you know.
For many years I was focused on food, movement and sleep, and I still am. Me too, those things are important, but I realize that, actually, if you want to get to the root of the roots, yes, this is how you believe, this is how you handle conflict, this is how When you approach the world , it's also Dr. Joe what you said about consciousness being the really powerful idea. One of the many powerful insights I get from your work is that it's about Evolution, so if you never meditate before, make sure you start meditating, learn to meditate. great meditation cool, that's going to be better than if you weren't doing it, but then learn, oh yeah, I had a great meditation but I was still judging my coworker, I still reacted to my boss, okay, cool, I'm coming tomorrow let's see if I can show up and not react that way, then it's not and again we're talking about trauma, you're not saying don't go back and revisit it, you're just saying hey, maybe don't say that for too long, maybe time.
If you've been trying to process it for 10 years and you're still there, yeah, maybe it's time to change a little bit, it's fair to say yes, and look, I mean, look, I mean, we're human beings and we were so programmed to survival and when you are in survival and you are threatened and there is a danger, you prepare for the worst, yes, so the person who is traumatized is actually anticipating that the event will happen again and they are preparing for the worst case scenario because there is better chance of survival if you prepare for the worst, then the brain naturally fabricates an outcome, but it's actually saying, what if this happens, what if that happens, and now we're, actually, there's a very vivid imagination, but is it working against us? in many ways, so there's nothing wrong with this, I mean, we've all done it, you've had a trauma, you've had an insult, you've had, you know, a betrayal, you have whatever and then it's you.
Gain wisdom from the experience, but always, if it is really a strong trauma, you expect it to happen again, so the brain selects from the infinite potentials in the quantum field the worst case scenario and then emotionally embraces the outcome before it a thought and a feeling an image and an emotion a stimulus and response happen and you are conditioning your body to the mind of that emotion your past is you are reliving your past in your future every day in the present moment and now it becomes a process very visceral and subconscious, so it takes an enormous amount of will, it takes an enormous amount of consciousness and energy to break that and we have so many brain scans of people who have severe anxiety and you can't be anxious.
If you're in the present moment and they keep surprising themselves by going to that thought and feeling that feeling and bringing it back and then they get frustrated and they leave and suddenly they're there again, well, why are they there? "I've been practicing, you know, you keep practicing, feeling anxious, you get really good at it, you start practicing, feeling gratitude, you get really good at it. We're doing a study with kids in Australia and I tell them to practice being angry." . You will become good at getting angry you practice being kind you become very good at being kind and it feels better in essence it is that simple it is that simple it really is you know what you practice you become good at exactly one thing I have heard you Recently, what has been very helpful to me is that you don't get up from your meditation until you've overcome that emotion, until you've reached that place of calm and gratitude and joy, and if I think back to when I started meditating on and off maybe 10 years ago, you know, some days I go in, it would be great, other days it would be really hard, I think, oh, it's not today, so I'd come out of there, oh, you know, not today with a complete misunderstanding.
That, oh, always has to be perfect and joyful, whereas now I know it's a practice. I sit there all the time some days it's wonderful, other days it's hard, yeah, and I think that's very powerful. What you shared. How much time do you really take? for you for two hours two hours the first 20 minutes or so or 30 minutes it's up to me I'm in my thinking box and then the next hour and a half if it takes me a ronkin hour to get to the present moment I won't get up to meditate until for me to get there, so I don't commit to that because I know that if I surpass myself, that's the process of improvement, that's the process of becoming, so if I achieve it, I stretch myself because I don't feel good. and and I and I get through it then I'm a different person the rest of the day if I get up and leave it then I'm the same guy yeah I can't wait for something really magical to happen in my life so I'm just willing to go that distance because I believe that if you wake up the same personsat down, nothing really happens, nothing really happens, and we have talked to so many people who have had so many deep transcendental experiences and they look back at all the meditations they have done and they are not the good ones that they remembered, but the ones in which who sat in front of the fire and love themselves for doing it, love themselves because they sat, that's really the value.
Behind all this, like this, like this, like this, for the person who is on the journey, for me, I am just a type of person who likes if I do a meditation and I understand it when I get over it and it was not a nice meditation I am that that discomfort bothers me all day it bothers me because I don't want to do that again and I want to make sure I'm not thinking about the news or I'm not thinking about what people are saying they think about me I'm not thinking about all that none of it I'm really Thinking about what happened there Joe like where did you go?
Like why do you feel like this because something bothers me because I think I could do better, it's like I'm a martial artist, you know you're training someone you kicked in the face three or four times, sooner or later you say what am I doing, yeah, what and you sit there and think about it over and over again. it ends and it bothers you until you figure it out right, so when you feel good that you ever got there, you say hey man, I can get over it and then what people tell me wow, two hours in the morning, you know, uh, I said , listen, it's very simple if I can get over myself at the beginning of the day, the rest of the day, I can get over anyone, I'm just okay when you're okay with yourself, you're okay with anyone when you're angry. at yourself you're angry at others if you're not happy with yourself you punish other people to make them unhappy because you want them to feel like you that's how it is you're grateful for waking up grateful yes you do I'm grateful just for the fact that the life is the gift.
I am alive. I have a body. I have a family. I have people who love me. I can eat. I have a house. uh, kind of running water in my shower. I feel pretty good, yeah, I made a lot of mistakes, but I'm alive, yeah, hey, a new day, a new life, you know, you wake up grateful. that way and you start to see these coincidences happening in your life. I guarantee you that meditation will no longer be a necessity. That's what I love about our community. We don't do the work because we have to or to please God. or be holy or any of those things, people do the work because they don't want the magic to end, the moment you see the coincidence happening in your life, you will stop believing that you are the victim of your life and start believing , start believing that you are the creator of your life and when you do, what do you think creates synchronicity, do you think it creates sadness or pain, synchronicity wakes you up, you feel a little energy, you feel a little joy and that inspires you um, the experiment is working, yeah, I think I'll come back tomorrow for the experiment, hey, that's a little weird, hey, I'll do it again, wow, and then you won't want to stop doing it because you start to realize that really you can produce effects in your life I don't care what kind of past you've had I don't care you can't even tell me you're too sick to do this work, you can't say it I'm too old to do this work, you can't tell me I've never meditated before , you can't even tell me that you had a brutal past and you can't do this.
I've seen it happen in all races. all colors all sizes all shapes all diets all paths all social statuses no one is so special as to be excluded from this principle and therefore the act of making time yes to be a creative Creator in your life if you make time to be a Creator in your life which means you must believe that you are a Creator in your life if you don't put in the time or you don't do it you don't believe you are the Creator and you are not believing in your past More than you believe in your future, you You show up to do the job because you want to believe in your future more than you believe in your past and there are some people who do this job who wake up and believe in their past less because they didn't get over themselves and then there are people who do every day and they wake up and believe in their future more every day and the side effect of that is all these wonderful changes that start to happen in a person's life and they say what everyone says I knew was true I just had than to prove it to myself, so it's always so inspiring to be around you just to end up with that person who is now watching and listening and saying hey doctor, I understand what you're saying.
I understand. But I don't have time, my life is busy, I don't have time to meditate, what would you say to them? I would say that you can learn and change in a state of pain and suffering and you can learn and change in a state of joy and inspiration I mean, uh, if you don't have time now, take the time when you can, but for the most part I want to inspire people to not wait for that crisis or that trauma or that illness or that loss it really changes because I want them to be inspired to try it it's an experiment the hardest part of all this ronkin is actually making the time to do it is the hardest part of all this when we make time for our When we invest in ourselves, we invest in our future and in order for us to believe in ourselves we have to believe in possibility and when we believe in possibility, we believe in ourselves, so it doesn't even have That would be a lot of time.
It's time to do a little experiment to say I'm not going to have these thoughts I'm going to write them down I'm not going to act this way or talk this way and I won't today I'm going to work on just staying aware of these feelings that's all I'm going to do. do, I'll just close my eyes for a few moments and remember that I'm not going to do these things if that's the beginning, you've just demystified meditation because meditation means getting familiar with getting familiar with those symbols familiarizing getting so familiar with yourself that you can get familiar with a new me and not going back to the previous person we all fail we all react that is not the question, the question is how long are you going to walk, how for how long are you going to do this?
So we have a choice. Try it as an experiment. Little time. Just a little time. If you don't have time, other people say: Well, no, I don't know how much time you're going to have. I know I say well we'll get up earlier and they say well I'm tired I said we'll go to bed earlier what am I going to say what is what is when will you know when you want do it if you don't want to do it and you don't have time don't do it if it inspires you to do it I want do it just do it if you're inspired don't do it Because one of the exciting things that's happening right now is that I'm realizing that this is a moment in history where it's not enough to know, this is a moment of history to know how, and my interest is to obtain information. that is based on science and I believe that science is the contemporary language of mysticism.
I think it is the science that demystifies the mystical and if you can apply and combine a little quantum physics with a little neuroscience with a little neuroendocrinology with a little psychoneuroimmunology or epigenetics and electromagnetism and and in a simple way provide people with information solid science, the more you understand this model and understand what you're doing and why you're doing it, the easier it will be, so let's demystify just a simple process if you think your thoughts have something to do with your life or something to do with your health and research indicates that ninety percent of the thoughts you have are the same thoughts as the day before, as long as you are more likely thinking the same thing. your life or your health will say stay the same because the same thoughts lead to the same choices the same choices lead to the same behaviors the same behaviors create the same experiences and the same experiences produce exactly the same emotions and those same emotions influence our thoughts and our biology our neurocircuits our neurochemistry our hormones or genetic expression stay the same because we are the same and the principle is that nothing changes in our life until we change, so the principle of neuroscience is that nerve cells that activate together wire together If you keep thinking the same thoughts, making the same decisions, doing the same things, reproducing the same experiences, stamping the same networks of neurons in the same patterns, all because of the familiar feeling called you in time, we begin to rewire our brain and condition our body. emotionally to become a more subconscious program, so 95 percent of Who we are when we are in our mid-30s or mid-life is a set of memorized behaviors, uh, unconscious habits, automatic emotional responses, programmed thoughts , beliefs, perceptions that work automatically.
If you believe in that idea, then if you wake up in the morning and think about your problems and you know that your brain is the record of the past, those problems are connected to certain people and certain objects and things at certain times and places. In the moments when you start thinking a lot about your problems, you remember your past and each of those problems has an emotion associated with it, so the moment we feel unhappy, the moment we feel anxiety, the moment in which we feel unworthy, now our bodies in the past. Thoughts become the language of the brain and feelings become the language of our body and how we think and how we feel is our state of being, but it only takes one thought and one feeling, one image and one emotion, one stimulus and a response, and you are starting the conditioning process and you are conditioning your body emotionally to what was known in the past.
You do it enough times. The body is so objective that it does not know the difference between the real life experience that is creating that emotion and the emotion that the person is creating only with thought. The body believes that it is living the same past experience 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year now epigenetics research says that the environment tells the gene that okay, good, the end product of an experience in the environment is an emotion, so the person is sending signals to the same genes in the same way because the body thinks it is living in the same environment, so trauma, betrayal, loss, drama, whatever the diagnosis is that makes a person feel certain emotions.
Most of the emotions we feel and you know this because you are an expert and you write about it are derived from stress hormones and stress is when your brain and your body are thrown out of homeostasis, so it makes sense that when you perceive a threat or a danger in your life you turn on that primitive nervous system and you are mobilizing all the sources of resources in your body for some real or imagined threat there is no problem if it is short term but the long-term chronic effects of stress hormones regulate genes and creates diseases.
Now the problem is that we can activate that stress response just by thinking. We can think about our problems and we can imagine the worst case scenario in our life. We can capture bitter memories and do it again and again. over and over again and indeed, if we can activate the stress response just by thinking and science says that stress can push the genetic buttons that create disease, then our thoughts can make us sick. Well, the question is whether our thoughts could make us sick. Is it possible that our thoughts can heal us? And that is my interest in analyzing it.
There are a couple of statistics that you mentioned that ninety percent of the thoughts we think are the same as the day before. I think he said that too. 95 of Who We Are at Age 35 is wired to memorize behaviors and those two things really stood out to me because as a doctor, a lot of the things I try to do with my patients are help them make changes in their lives. life, let's say they change their lifestyle and many times those behaviors that they adopt are very short-lived, they get very motivated, they do it for a few weeks, but then they often go back to where they were before and I wonder.
If those two statistics helped me understand why, it's because, in reality, if we don't change from the beginning the programming of our brain in terms of how we think and how we approach worlds, then it's going to be very difficult, isn't it? absolutely change those long-term downward behaviors and listen, you know you know this as well as anyone. I mean, chronic illness requires a lifestyle change and change is an interesting concept, so the hardest part of change is not making the same decision as you. the day before and the moment you decide to make a different decision, be prepared because you will feel uncomfortable, you will feel unknown, there will be some uncertainty, you will not be in the known that you are dating. the unknown you are doing something different in the body that has been conditioned to be the mind the servant is now the master so the body loves the Familiar no and loves the sameSuffering loves the same pain loves the same indignity that has been conditioned that way for years, it really runs the show, so the moment you step out into the unknown, the body waits a second.
I'd rather feel guilty than this feeling of the unknown because I can't predict my future, so the body starts influencing the mind and we start hearing this talk in our head that Rock says and it starts tomorrow, you know, and tomorrow is a better day. You really don't feel like it today, why don't you just have a piece of cake? You're a loser, it's your parents' fault, it's your ex's fault, it's your culture's fault, whatever it is and if we accept, believe and surrender to that thought as if it were the truth, it's an old circuit in the brain. , that thought will lead to the same choice as it will lead to the same behavior that will create the same experience but produce the same feeling or emotion the person says well, this seems right to me no no no no that sounds familiar to me crossing the river of change going from the old me to the new self there is a neurological, biological or hormonal genetic death of the old self, there is a pruning, there is an inhibition in which we no longer release the same stress hormones that excite us, so if there are three types of stress, physical , chemical and physical emotional. stress is trauma, injuries, accidents, falls, chemical stress, you know, viruses, bacteria, pesticides, pollutants, toxins, hangovers, any emotional stress, that's the big one, family tragedies, second mortgages, single parents, 401 ks, whatever, it tends to be, so the hard one to deal with really is our emotional one. stress, so if you can help people become more physically balanced, more chemically balanced, and more emotionally balanced, the effects of their personal change will be accelerated, yes, and there will be a longer duration, so the person sees you for six months, just start. a great program, they start making the right decisions and start feeling better and then once they make the wrong decision, it's a downward spiral back to the old unconscious habits and emotional condition, they feel unworthy again and go back to their clinic or return.
When you return to your consultation, they return with exactly the same conditions and this simple solution is yes, because you return to the same personality and feel the same emotions and your body becomes the same again. believing that it is in the same environmental condition, then yes Your personality creates your personal reality and I create that and your personality is made up of how you think, how you act and how you feel, so the current personality that is listening to this podcast has created the personal present. reality called your life, not your ex, not your parents, not your boss, you create your life, then it makes sense, so, if you want to create a new personal reality, you would have to change your personality, in other words, if you want to change your life, you have to change and nothing changes in your life until you change, so this first step of change then 95 of who we are as a set of unconscious thoughts, behaviors and emotions, so the first step is to become aware of your thoughts unconscious.
How you behave? You complain? Do you blame yourself? Do you make excuses? Did you judge yourself? Are you aggressive and then look at the emotions? What is this emotion I feel? Wow, this is guilt, this is sadness, this is victimization, this is unhappiness, name it now. you are so aware of it that you do not lose consciousness and you return to the same self and how many times do we have to forget until we stop forgetting and start remembering, that is the moment of change, yes, I mean, it is so powerful that there are two. There are key elements that I would love to delve into a little more: consciousness and personality about personality.
One of the most profound realizations in my own life over the past two years has been that our personalities, much of our personality at least, is not fixed like many. People think that, oh, the way I am is the way I am and what I've learned through research, but also through my own personal experience of life, is that often our personality is not what we are, but what we had to become, for example. For most of my life, most of my friends and family would say that I am intensely competitive. I can't stand losing. I will win.
I will do whatever it takes to win at all costs, but I know I know this very well. that that now comes from a feeling of lack that came from a feeling of lack within that I developed this idea as a child that I'm really only loved, I'm only worthy when I get the full mark, so when I succeed, right? So, of course, being competitive absolutely serves that purpose because if you're competitive you're going to continue to reinforce that yes, you're going to be

success

ful and you're going to get that external validation that you feel like you need, but like me.
I've realized that and that's where I think the awareness piece comes in for me. I become very aware that I can't really change that that's not really fixed for life and these days I'm not competitive. I'm competitive in a different way. Like it's not because I need to be successful because that says who I am and that's a reflection of who I am, it's because no, I no longer come from a place of lack. I come from a place of love. Now, where yes, I still want to do well, but it's not a reflection of my self-esteem, so I've really experienced it, you can change very well, so the bottom line is to realize that there is great science that proves that we are not programmed to do it. be a certain way for the rest of our lives and we are not condemned by our genes we are wonders of adaptability and change change now here is the challenge although the challenge is that most people wait for a crisis or a diagnosis before taking the mind decision to change and my message is why wait?
So, if your personality creates your personal reality and you become aware that, in lack or separation, the game to play when you live in a three-dimensional reality is that you have to do something to get what you want then you have the thought to want something well you want a new career you want to be successful at something you want a new relationship you want to heal that thought of whatever that experience is your mind actually predicts it somewhere in the future and you say if I work too hard if I sacrifice a certain amount of things if I save a lot of money I can go on vacation or have this experience and then people wait for the experience to happen and when the experience happens the reward is the emotion in the three-dimensional reality but the distance between the thought of what you want and the experience of having it between cause and effect between one point of Consciousness I am aware that I am competitive and another point of Consciousness I can change That is called time, so everything in three-dimensional reality takes time and we experience separation until the event occurs and then we feel the excitement, that's great, but the fundamental quality of a person's personality that is competitive once they have that experience, then they are going to compete for the next thing they want and there is nothing wrong with that because when we are trying to change the matter, of course, we are going to use the principles that we are going to control, we are going to predict that we are going to compete, we are going to fight for it, we are going to work harder, we are going to manipulate, we are going to do anything , we can produce a result and, when we have the experience, the experience produces the emotion.
The question then is that people become so dependent on experience to change their emotional state that they need something external to them to change their internal state and so if I said to someone, hey, why are you so unhappy today? I would say I'm unhappy because of that person or that circumstance and what that really means is that that person or that circumstance actually controls the way you feel and the way you think and whatever controls the way we feel. and the way we think that we are victims of that circumstance. in other words, we are victims of our environment and our response to the environment actually weakens the organism, it actually takes the life force of the body and turns it into an emergency and that is, and you harness those resources, then that is cause and effect. waiting for something, you create something and then we are on the plane of doing it and you master some skills, you educate yourself, you make the right decisions, you get the right advice and you can actually succeed in this world, well, that's great, but the time between You get it and you think it's a lot of separation, right?
And what if, like you said, you said okay, how would I live a new personality that's not competitive? a person who is no longer competitive has to think and you start to think about how to think and the act of really with intention or attention begins to install new circuits in your brain, new hardware continues to do so and becomes a software program that is becomes the new voice in your head that says calm down, there's another way to do it then, if you said how I'm going to be in my life when I open my eyes, how I'm going to live today, one day, one life, as if I weren't competitive, well I may have to do some reading and learn how to do that, but I can find someone who has done it, obviously someone has done it if you close your eyes and mentally rehearse how you're going to be on a zoom call.
Are you going to be with your colleagues? How are you going to be in your relationships? mental rehearsal when you are really present the brain doesn't know the difference between real life experience and what you are imagining and the research on mental rehearsal says you can install neurological hardware in your brain to make it seem like you have already done it and that has been experienced now your brain is no longer a record of the past now it is a map to the future keep preparing the brain with those instructions and the hardware become a software program now you will start behaving that way now here is the hard part that Did you achieve, can I teach my body emotionally what it would feel like to stop being competitive to be in love with life and know that everything is going to be okay? or that I'm witty or intelligent or whatever.
Can I bring up the feeling of what the non-competitive competitive person or a person who has mastered that feels like? If you can teach your body emotionally how it feels before the experience, then it would make sense then, if you could do that enough times, you can condition your body emotionally to start changing with that thought and that feeling, with that image and that emotion, and so then the person becomes a new personality and changes from the old personality and our Research shows that when you do that you not only change your circuits, the way your brain works, the way your heart works, your expression genetics, your immune system, but the side effect of that many times is that there are very profound biological changes that take place in a person's health and you say how did you do that and they will tell you that the disease exists in the old personality.
I'm literally another person, so if you have proof and testimonies that we have, it is possible to change and we have great evidence. In scientific research, the evidence that we are making becomes the loudest voice and that person who gets up on stage and tells the story of their personal transformation and tells the truth, is at the four-minute mile and that is a new conscience level. That says I don't need anything outside of me to change my internal state. In fact, I could self-regulate and change my internal state and the more I understand what I'm doing based on the model of science and why I'm doing it.
If I keep it simple, then the how becomes easier because you assign meaning to it and when you assign meaning to it, you fire up that prefrontal cortex and it will find value in the ACT if you don't know what you're doing and why. you are doing it remains from guesswork to superstition to dogma and then you light a match in a dark place and see what aspect of yourself if you want to be happy then the first thing you have to do is stop being unhappy You have to become aware of those thoughts that make you feel bad and the memories that accompany them and the emotions of that and untangling yourself from that program requires a lot of energy and a lot of awareness.
You mentioned visualization. Really this theme of By creating the emotion and the feeling now, you're not waiting for something to happen in the future so you can experience that feeling, you're actually taking control of that and creating that feeling right away, which is very powerful and in What I think about when Let's say I think about athletes, Tiger Woods, for example, the night before I was going to play 18 holes, I was in bed and I was literally playing every hole, every shot, imagining where it would land, plays, that shot is going to be. It's going to be a little tie, it's going to be a little cut, it's going to be low, it's going to be high to the point where he and other golfers will say, when they show up to play, that they've already played the course, so I know that our friend, David Hamilton, when I was expecting him on the show a couple of years ago, David talked about tennis for him and how you know, he had never played before and I think within a few months or a year, he was actually doing very well. men's leagues through this type of visualization process, so I thinkwhen we hear about this from sports people, we understand, yes, yes, it's important to them, but you know a lot of us don't think about it with our own health.
I think the way we feel is the way we feel, oh you know, it turns out I feel depressed and sad. The other thing I discovered while researching this for this conversation, Dr. Joe, was a wonderful Ted Talk from a guy. His name is Anil Seth, he is a global researcher in Consciousness at the University of Sussex and in his Ted Talk he shows this wonderful image of a human being, there is literally a fake hand in front of them and he looks at those fake hands and after a few seconds. someone drops a knife in fake hands and pulls their real hand away, it's so profound and this really speaks to what you just said, which is that your brain doesn't know the difference, yeah, we don't see things as they are.
Do we see things as we are? I don't like to use the word visualization because I think it's been good. It has been overused. I like to use the word mental rehearsal. I don't care if you are a virtuoso or a musician. I don't care if you're a performer or an actor I don't care if you're a dancer or an athlete, everyone who is committed to getting better at whatever they do does this, they will rehearse the course now or they will rehearse the ACT enough times that once they can conceptualize everything to completion and come out of that box of thoughts, then the box of thoughts is very important because we have to review our act, we have to repeat it enough times and the act of mental rehearsal. it actually installs the neurological hardware in your brain, it frees up the brain so you have circuits to use now, mental rehearsal also changes the body.
You can take a group of men and have them imagine or rehearse doing bicep curls for one hour a day for two. weeks and they add an emotional component called stronger, harder, more intense and for an hour they practice in their mind doing those curls at the end of two weeks there is a 13.5 increase in muscle strength, they have never lifted a weight, their bodies change on their own with thought, so a person who is preparing his brain and his body through rehearsal, when they enter their game box, there is no need to think that they are only doing, there is only the act, in fact, the thought of what What they are doing becomes the experience, they lose themselves in the act and In analytical facilities, their analytical mind is out of the way and they can maintain a state in which nothing in their environment will take them out of the and they hold on to that feeling and when conditions get tense, they actually do something different, they self-regulate and they really look forward to this moment of performance to be able to do it. produce a result and there is no mysticism in this, it is simply what people do when they really get into something is that we rehearse all the time so that people understand if you take a group of people who have never played the piano before and you teach them one . hand that scales the chords and they are practiced for two hours a day for five days at the end of five days if you do a brain stop and before and after circuits will grow on the opposite side of the brain, there is no magic there. learn something new learn to make new connections involve your body you get some instructions you have an experience the experience enriches the circuits repeat it over and over again trigger and connect and pay attention and stay present you will assemble new neurological circuits it takes another group of people to make them close the eyes, an act that actually makes them mentally rehearse playing the scales and chords for two hours a day for five days.
Scan your brain before and after, at the end of five days, your brain will look as if you have been playing the piano. for five days but they never lifted a finger, the brain literally changed during the rehearsal, okay, so now take the person and put them in front of a piano, they had never played the piano before and they could actually play those scales and chords like the ones. people who actually show it physically so what does that have to do with the single mother of three? What does that have to do with the person who is trying to cure a health condition?
It is not enough to simply have a good meditation and get up and spend the rest of the time. your day reacting and responding to the conditions of your life, that's one hour of living or conditioning your body and brain towards the future versus 15 hours of you and responding emotionally from your past, so we have to rehearse, okay, How am I going to be in this? situation, how am I going to change?, what I would love to do today, what would greatness look like, it's those frontal lobe questions that really start to set up the circuits and we all do it naturally, the only time we don't It is when We are living in stress and we are living in survival why because it is not a time to create, it is not a time to learn, it is not a time to go inward, it is not a time to dream, it is a time to run, fight and hide, and if you spend as much of your time turning up those stress hormones as most people do, then their senses are heightened, they narrow their focus and now they're busy doing everything they can, relying on something outside of themselves. them to eliminate that feeling.
So if people start to understand that they really can change and that there is a formula to do it, and they practice it and rehearse it mentally and participating in it, the effects should be in the experiment that something should. changes either in your body or in your life and that's why we do it, so when you see the changes or the synchronicities or the coincidences or the opportunities that start to appear in your life, you are going to pay attention to what you did and to What we are going to do again and many people who have chronic health conditions that simply go beyond those thoughts, those habits and those emotions that keep them with the same personality and begin to think, act and feel differently notice dramatic changes in your health. and in their biology and we have data that suggests that people who do this for seven days, their body looks genetically and biologically as if they are in a different life, their body no longer responds in the same way and they are no longer victims. to their environment because they can self-regulate there tends to be a greater resistance to anything in their environment, even at a microscopic level, what is your opinion on addiction, what is driving so much addiction and what can people do to try to break free, I sure think which is It's a question worthy of a conversation.
I think we've been programmed and it's not a good or bad thing, it's just how we've been programmed, so I think behind every substance addiction or some game or media addiction. or whatever, there is an emotion that the person is trying their best to regulate, so let's say a person has been exposed to trauma and when we have an event in our life that changes our emotional state, the stronger the emotion what we feel from the the shock the betrayal the trauma the news whatever it is the more upset we are inside ourselves the more the brain freezes a frame and takes a snapshot and that is called long-term memory and long-term memories, so the We remember because we can remember the feeling associated with them so what most people don't know is that the trauma or series of events alters our internal state and every time we think or remember the trauma we produce the same chemistry in the brain and the body as if the event were what is happening now, the body is so objective that it does not know the difference between the real life experience that is creating that movement or the emotion that that person is manufacturing with just thought and it only takes a thought and a feeling, an image, an emotion, a stimulus and response and you are actually subconsciously conditioning the body to that emotional state and that establishes the baseline of that person's emotional state, then the person becomes God.
I feel empty, I feel anxious, I feel unworthy, I feel resentful, I feel frustrated and they don't know how to change it so that they then look for things in their outside world that will make that feeling go away, whether it's a drug, whether it's a game, whether it's Whether it's pornography, whether it's a complaint, it doesn't matter what it is, but let's use attractiveness as an example. or a drug a recreational drug a person takes a recreational drug at the moment he takes the recreational drug he notices a change in his emotional state and at the moment he notices that change in his emotional state he associates that change with what caused it and Do you remember it?
What caused it? That starts to create a dependency. Now I believe there are degrees of addiction. Some are very physiological. You know, the receptors are modified, but if you look at it, an addiction is when the body has been conditioned to be the mind. So every time the person starts to feel the emptiness, they feel the unworthiness, they feel the frustration, they feel the anxiety, their brain creates the image of what they need to do to make that feeling go away, and the last time or the last series of times, was that exogenous substance? Or that activity that made it disappear?
Now here's the problem, let's use a game as an example, okay, so when you blow up someone or beat a certain level, you shoot someone or you get points for whatever you do. When playing a game, there is a release of dopamine in the brain and dopamine is the reward chemical, the pleasure chemical, the problem is that the amount of dopamine that is released in a very short time interval is out of range. normal, so now speed up the dopamine in The brain and the receptor sites on the outside of the cell say this is too much dopamine that I'm used to processing, so the receptor sites actually close, close, so now so that the person has the same feeling. they have to play more yes, they have to do more they have to that is the stimulus it has to be greater so over time we begin to recalibrate those pleasure centers those receptors to a higher level now what is the meaning of that in the absence of that stimulation our pleasure The centers have been hijacked at such a high level that we cannot find pleasure in anything, you cannot find pleasure in a sunset, he cannot find pleasure in sitting at the table and eating with your family, playing with a dog. you see your grandparents a lot, especially a lot of children, you can look at them and you can see that something happened to them and they are just glazed over, yes, that's because they are kidnapped by technology and therefore so that they can recover. that same rush they have to play more they have to do more now this is really the big problem learning should be a reward in itself right, I mean learning should be a reward but now for most people they need a stimulus, they need something to drive their attention to whatever they are learning and now attention depends on something external to us and when you capture people's attention you capture their energy and you can program them as a result of that, so the solution is to teach people how to self-regulate, so we see people who come to our work who have struggled with addictions, all kinds of addictions, but it's actually an emotional addiction that they're really trying to change, so they just deprogram what has to happen outside. outside of ourselves, so what we discovered in our research is that you can actually change hypnosis and conditioning and not wait for the experience to produce the emotion, but teach people how to self-regulate their emotional states and be able to exchange resentment, frustration. anxiety from a high emotion and if you keep practicing it you become very good at what you practice, so good that you actually become that way, so when people start to self-regulate, we actually measure what happens to their physiology when they do it. correctly and it becomes a habit and then, when the person notices that their body is out of balance, they have one of two options: they can rely on some exogenous substance or something external to them or they can take a moment and recalibrate their emotional state and and the only challenge I think with addictions is that the moment you say I'm not going to drink coffee I'm not going to smoke cigarettes I'm not going to drink alcohol I'm not going to drink sugar the moment you make that conscious statement with your conscious mind that the body has been conditioned and dependent on that substance, so two hours pass and the body has modified its receptor sites and starts talking to the brain and starts saying rangan, why don't you start tomorrow? better day any other day but this day this is not a good day for you it is my parents' fault it is my boss it is the news and that thought is being driven by the body mind now if we act according to that thought we make the same decision that we do the same thing we create the same experience we feel the same emotion and then, suddenly, that emptiness or that emotional state disappears and the person returns to the known, then there is something biological, there is something neurological, there is a chemical, there is a hormonal genetic death of the old self because you're breaking down that stimulus and response, that inhibition then makes the body feel chaos, it's looking for the known, The Familiar, so instead of pushing it the other way, we teach people how to regulate it, yeah.
They are statesinternal emotional processes and over time you begin to see the moment when you feel a heightened emotion such as gratitude, appreciation, kindness, care and love with life. You don't need anything outside of yourself to make you feel better. You are actually doing it yourself and people can maintain these states like any habit for an extended period of time. Yeah, there's a phrase I heard you say before from Dr. Joe that people often confuse love with pleasure and when people start to feel again, they have less need for pleasure, yeah, and I think that really speaks volumes. of what you just said.
You know, when you feel these, what you call high emotions, you have less need for these quick doses of dopamine, right, yes exactly. I mean, think about it, I mean, how could you want if you're whole if you're whole? There is no need to want. There is no lack, there is no separation, what does that mean? Alright, we see, that's how we describe it, um, we do it. There are a lot of studies on brain coherence and heart coherence and let's talk about what's wrong. I mean, when there is an emergency or when we are awakened by some threat or some condition in our life or we cannot predict an outcome we cannot control an outcome we have the perception that something in our world could get worse we activate that primitive nervous system right, yeah, fight or flight, nervous system and now the game is fight, run or hide, the problem is with human beings, when we are in that, we feel a loss of control.
Our brain suddenly tries to control everything in our lives, so every person, every object, everything, every place, every experience you've ever had, is mapped in your neocortex. Arousal and distress hormones push the brain into a very high brain wave state called high beta, but then when you shift your attention from one meeting to another, to another text message to another person, to something else, to somewhere else, you have to go to each of those different ones. elements has a neurological network in the brain so like a thunderstorm in the clouds the brain starts firing out of order it starts firing incoherently and when the brain is incoherent we are incoherent so think about when you are stressed, the most common.
What people do is they focus too much, they limit their focus to whatever it is that leads them to pay attention to it, yes, and then the act of paying attention to the problem is actually further unbalancing the brain and we have studied this. When you analyze that problem, that circumstance, that condition within the emotion that you are feeling and derived from the stress hormones, you will make your brain worse one hundred percent of the time because the analysis, the overanalysis, leads it even further towards more thought. high. higher beta

brainwash

ing state, so this kind of narrow focus is what makes the brain a house divided against itself, so we thought well, why don't we do the opposite, instead of limiting our Focus on the cause, something physical, something material, because the stress hormones actually heighten the senses and make us become materialistic, so the issue is matter when there is survival, whatever is around the corner. corner, whatever is going to happen, so we said, well, let's teach people something else, let's teach them how to broaden their focus and as they do that, broaden their focus and take their attention away from everything material and everything. the known and focusing on space, focusing on nothing, the act of doing that actually starts to slow down the analytical mind that you can't analyze when you are feeling and starts to change the personality of the person. brain waves into a slower brain wave pattern and now when you start to slow your brain waves down from that high beta, you start to slow down, you're shifting gears, you go into a mid range beta, then you go into a mid range beta. low level and then all of a sudden you enter Alpha now Alpha when you are in Alpha the voice in your head the critic in your mind leaves that voice that speaks to you stops and the Brain tends to see in images in images that is the imaginary State what is creative being in alpha when you're out of survival you're looking for answers you're creative you're looking for new ways of doing things so when they broaden their focus not only do they go into Alpha but suddenly we start seeing those different compartments of the brain that were once subdivided, yes, suddenly, starting to unify different communities of neurons that were fragmented, they start to synchronize, that's what you call coherence, so what sinks in the brain links in the brain, so when you see the front to the brain speaking the back of the brain the right side of the brain speaking the left side of the brain you start to know that something good is starting to happen and the person is starting to create more order so when you see that psychic union of two hemispheres come together, you know the polarity, that person begins to feel incredibly complete and coherent when you have waves that are coherent, when they build or interfere with each other, their waves become larger and the greater the amplitude of the wave, the greater the energy in the brain.
Suddenly the person starts to relax a lot and is no longer stressed in a program and to be alert and awake at the same time, when you are resentful, frustrated or impatient and you are sitting in traffic, the same hormones are released. and your heart actually beats like there is a tiger behind you but you can't run. You can't fight. You can't hide and the traffic frustrates you even more. You're releasing more of those chemicals, so your heart starts beating. the system is closed and when that happens the heart begins to beat out of order now the heart is incoherent so when the incoherent waves interfere with each other they are out of order they decrease the energy and the energy of the brain leaves the heart and that is when we stop trusting in this.
It is not a time to communicate, this is not a time to learn, it is just not a time to be creative and the energy comes from the heart, so we find that when a person really starts to practice those higher emotions, the heart becomes very orderly, very coherent also and now. When you start to feel the emotions of things you want in your life or would like to create in your life before the actual experience, there is no way you will want it, why would you want it if you feel like it already happened? now here is the interesting part, maintain that modified state of being, get as good at doing it with your eyes closed, start practicing with your eyes open and if you can maintain that modified state of mind and body, throughout the day, a heart coherent as soon as the energy reaches the heart.
We have done thousands of studies on this. It goes directly to the brain. The heart begins to inform the brain that it is safe to create. At exactly the same time the heart begins to produce an external magnetic field. You have a Wi-Fi signal. now you start to feel connected, you start to feel more complete, the brain goes here and it is directing a very clear vision of what it wants, it combines that clear intention with a heightened emotion, you have a different Wi-Fi signal, you have a different energy and and Now the good thing about this is that you start to see those synchronicities, those coincidences, those opportunities start to appear in your life and you are not going anywhere to get them, they are actually coming to you.
Now, let's look at the biology of this, yes. Epigenetics says that it is the environment that sends signals to the gene. Genes do not create diseases. Our response to the environment actually creates disease. Well, the end product of an experience in the environment is called emotion, so the person who lives with the same emotion every day. The body is so objective that it believes that living in the same environment it doesn't know the difference and keeps the same genes signaled in the same way that genes make proteins. Proteins are responsible for the structure and function of your body.
The expression of proteins is the expression of Life and the person are now in the same emotional state, they are expressing the same genes and nothing changes in our life and that is why we change. Well, now the person who exchanges resentment, frustration, anger and everything else for a heightened emotion and can maintain that state the body is so objective that he believes he is living in a different environment, yes, then they are calling the genetic door, so the elevated emotion that the person memorizes the body is not so objective that it does not know the difference between the The real life experience that is creating that emotion and the emotion that that person regulates only with thought keeps calling to the genetic door: you downregulate the gene for a disease and you upregulate the gene for health because their bodies are in a different emotional state and the body's emotional state is different.
Believing that we live in a different environment and we've done studies with novice meditators and we were curious to see what kind of biological changes would occur in a week if you immersed yourself in the entire week. event, but people do it in a week, yes, yes, so yes, we draw blood and we look at about 2,882 metabolites, all the exosomes, gene expression and at the end of seven days, the novice meditators almost 100 percent of They show substantial biological changes in their blood that suggest they are living in a different environment. Now comes the strange part. They are in a dance hall.
Nothing happens in a ballroom. I've been to thousands of dance halls. Nothing very exciting happens in the ballroom. We're actually making those changes internally and I tell our research team where those chemicals come from where they come from the person who doesn't take any substances comes from within us and then the nervous system starts making a whole pharmacy of the same chemicals. a The intention and emotional state of the person and it is how we think and how we feel that begins to alter things in our lives. Yeah, I mean, this is absolutely amazing to hear.
What kind of metabolites or I guess chemicals that you're measuring have to do with markers? of inflammation yes cytokines inflammation markers immune system markers immune system markers exosomes that have very positive effects showing cells in the state of growth and repair rather than in a state of degradation or tissue catalog. I mean, this is profound because because a lot of people may not realize that the way you sleep, if you have seven and a half hours of deep sleep, compared to, say, five hours of sleep the next day, you can measure how well Once 700 genes are expressed differently in the body, you could be more pro-inflammatory than the next night.
Bad sleep and what you're saying, your research shows that actually when you take novice meditators to people who don't know how to do this and who you know don't have years of experience. experience, they are not monks, they don't have it, you know, in fact, they have been trained not to interrupt you, in fact, if they don't have experience, they will do very well because they will do exactly what you tell them to do, especially the guys. that their wives come they drag them or people come and their partner once then they do it and they say I don't know anything about this and I say you're the perfect person just follow the instructions you don't have any preconceived notions they just undo it, they just do exactly what you're asking.
There's a guy with his heart wide open, he's crying, he's hugging his wife and she looks at me as if what happened to her happened to her. It just fell into something really big, so yeah, of course, that's common in In terms of the people who come to your work, what I'm interested in is the difference between men and women and some of you said that that really resonated with me, so in my clinic what I have seen time and time again is that men and they are well known for this and, of course, this is a gross generalization, but I have certainly seen it to be true in my own experience: they wait, They have things to do, they don't want to see the doctor they don't want to. to go get help and often when they show up the first thing they say is hello doctor look I'm sorry someone my wife made the appointment for me my girlfriend told me I have to come see you it's almost like They want to apologize because, hey, I wouldn't be here wasting your time, but actually you know my other half made me do this, it's something you see in your work as well, something similar, but in terms of this type of genre we have a very high percentage of cool men who come to our work and I think the number one reason I'm good is because we use science as a model that we rationalize, give, combine quantum physics with neuroscience, neuroendocrinology, psychon or immunology of the mind.
Body Connection epigenetics electromagnetism we built a model so that guys like to understand all those things so they can reason with them and they can jump, women somehow tend to be much more intuitive, yeah, and it resonates with them, they trust that and They just seem to flow a little differently, but of course, we have men who come and of course a lot of times their partner wants them to come, but they really come because they notice the change and their partner says, wow! Are very different. Cansee that your response to things is completely different. In other words, my memory of them.
This person doesn't fit how I remember them. They are outdated. Know? So when men finally commit and they understand the science and, gosh, I mean, it's a really important thing for a man to be in touch with those feelings correctly because in the competitive game you know the routine, you know the roost, always you're trying to compete. You're always trying to get ahead, you're always trying, you can't be vulnerable, well that works for a good amount of time, when you're important, you're trying to change, it matters, when you have to do things and you have to work. hard and you have to be motivated and all that is sacrificed, but we teach that there is another way to create and that is really that opportunity for them to open their hearts.
Now I have been next to men who have done it and completely. reversed the health condition in a very short period of time because you know, here comes House of Cards, you know, they just realize that they've been holding up this facade, this image of themselves just so they can keep up and play the game. and um, yeah, instead of waiting for a crisis or an illness or a diagnosis, and once they get back in touch with their feelings, there's nothing like a man who leads with his heart, oh my goodness, they consider the whole. and so on, and then you take a look at the women.
You know, and this is again a general observation, when women keep the family together, they make a lot of sacrifices, they continue to forgive, they do a lot of things that they themselves do after having taken care of their family and everything. Suddenly, they already know how to love you. , just teach them how to be very clear about their intentions and care, I mean, these are women doing incredible work, if that conversation resonated with you, here's another incredibly powerful one that I really think you're going to enjoy prediction is the most human thing, there are all addictions to attempts at pain relief, emotional pain relief or something like that.
So this whole society is so adept at selling us things to temporarily fill those holes. All the ethics of this culture.
