How to Paint Furniture ~ Dry Brush and Paint Wash

ing techniques. The two techniques we will do are

wash

ing and dry

brush

ing, they give a very nice look to the

furniture

and you can use them in many ways. With a small buffet in very good condition, we will also replace the hardware, so I removed the old ones and of course I always start with a good cleaning. This buffet was very shiny and I was worried that the

wash

ing technique on this piece would fail. To lift the base color to play it safe, I'm using a slick stick.

I like to use a rolling pin as much as I can. To avoid doing too much texture, it is necessary to use a

brush

for some areas, such as small areas that are hard. to reach it with a roller you just used a brush, we will need to cover those holes with dixie mud as well, once that is dry you can sand it smooth. I usually let the dixie mud dry overnight. Now for our color, I chose the dusty blue that I wanted. For testing this color for so long that I had to, I have to say that the coverage on this collar is amazing as one coat did so much that I needed two coats of this for solid coverage for a wash technique.

I suggest you let your base neck dry overnight to prevent the paint from lifting when we do the next step, which will be a bleach for washing. I'm using fluff, fluff is one of my favorite whites, it's not too bright, it's not too yellow, it's like perfection. You will also need some water and a cloth for this. What you want to do for a wash is wet the brush first, then dip it in the paint and wet it a little more. You want the paint to be very watered down for this wow once you get it.

You have paint there, you want to wipe it off immediately and you also want to make long straight lines for this, if you want to remove more you can spray some water and wipe it off again, be very gentle when you spray water. I made this. to the rest of the dresser working from top to bottom, you want to work from top to bottom, so if it drips, it doesn't matter, there are many different ways to do a whitewash technique, but this is one of my favorite ways to do it the way easier for me. I almost forgot to create the new holes for my accessories.

Now for dry brushing, I'm using hurricane gray. When it comes to dry brushing, you should always unload the brush. You want the brush to be so dry that there is barely any paint on it. In it, the more paint you have, the more problems it can create during dry brushing. It looks best in the details, lines and corners, just work slowly and add as you go. Here is what it looked like after dry brushing. This is definitely one of my favorite painting techniques. I'll leave a more detailed video on paint washing and dry brushing in my description now for protection.

I'm using my easy to use spray wax. It's my favorite wax now because it saves so much time. I chose those glass knobs to replace the hardware. I wanted neutral hardware, I didn't want any color hardware, I just wanted neutral hardware, so in my opinion the glass knob is the right decision, I added it and that's it, it's very pretty and has coastal vibes. I really love this one. It will look so good in a home on the Maine coast that that's probably where it will end up on the Maine coast. That's where it belongs.
