Rig Rundown: Brent Mason [2021]

Apr 27, 2024
there and, you know, this equalizer, this ge boss equalizer is just a guitar-friendly equalizer, I always like this key, I think it was back in the stagecoach playing days, I had one of these, let's really listen to that thing. a bit like, how would you do it? Well, I use it very subtly, but yeah, it looks like you can add a little bit, uh, a second here, first you have to turn it on, it's very subtle and very subtle, you know you can, that's the If you want to take it out, make sure you have the 800 400 1k3, you know, so it's a guitar with a lot of frequencies, good frequencies and you know the nasty nasal things that you can bring out, but yeah, the 200's are always nice and of course, I have 100 there where humans can't hear well , but you know, 200 might get a little square, a little bit really wakes it up, yeah, it wakes up, let's see what, I'm trying to figure out what you know, so that's a little bit of crunch in the hot wire, but it adds a bit, oh of course, tens always gives you a little bit more low end, you know, I think rolling out those 200, yeah, it's almost like that, makes everything else cut a lot more.

Also, yeah, well, I actually raised the 200 a little bit, but you don't need much, oh, actually, what I took, I took out 800, oh, okay, that's it, yeah, God, that sounds great, any problems noise with that, no, no, that, uh, I'm aware that I can't hear any loud noise here anyway, there's no noise, that's great, so you go from equalizer to poplar, yeah, it's important the sequence in the one where you put the pedals and all that yeah most new pedals are all true bypass now so safe uh going to the ego uh huge compressor yeah let's listen to that thing yeah it's like that it has uh the tone needs to be set here I spin the tone count totally counter clockwise i don't know why i think that's just my preference when the mix has a clean mix and a compression mix that's the good thing.

More Interesting Facts About,

rig rundown brent mason 2021...

Oh, there are a lot of times you use the other compressors as soon as you kick all that high, airy weight into it. I can't say all that. The airy highs disappear, it's like they lose the highs, so the mix adds the clean sound with the compression, which was a cool thing, yeah you see it a lot in the distortions or sure that's where you can add the mix. This gives you back that natural high-end tone. You know you don't want to lose any of that natural tone when it kicks in, that's a lot of compression.

Look, it still has the area up here, so now that's quite a bit of compression. for me it's okay the sharp is up sorry I usually don't use that much tightness yeah yeah it's cool okay and sometimes I just use a little touch so it's not so tight yeah but yeah it's okay that's cool. It goes from the compressor to these distortion pedals oh what is it? Yes, I was trying this. No, I'm not very familiar with that when I just have the euphoria. This one is a little thicker. The preamp in BB a little more. like some kind of tweed, yeah that sounds cool and of course mine, hot wire which I use just for two channels, one side is more of a crunchy beat, something I haven't set up yet so I have to do it .

It kind of makes it sad, that's a problem, man, you gotta figure these things out, you're kicking and you're like, oh okay, you're in the middle of a solo and you can't break away, yeah, it's like I want to duck. There's so bad that it's just a little bit, you know, you can add more, it sure has a mix too, so you know it's kind of cool, so that's the right side of you, that's all better and of course you . You know, so you got, yeah, that's cool, there's a lot of that hot wired pedal that's all over town, yeah, yeah, everyone wants one of those, okay, so, okay, you used after the wire hot you're doing well i got i just got these fender pedals and they're great yeah that's why i'm putting distortions before the volume pedal yeah so the equalizer compression the sorcerer pedals the pre pedal volume, okay and then after the volume pedal you put your uh even though they're set here. they're still before you set them up, you know, although it looks like they're behind the volume pedal, tremolos, any kind of effects, you know, yeah, these are the new fingers, this tree tray verb or tree verb is so sweet, yes, sweet sound, yes. that's cool and the verb I'm using the verb out because the super verb on channel one doesn't have super verb or reverb at all and you're not even super it's just nothing it's just a good tone yeah but I mean.
I use the verb outside of this, yeah, it's cool, it has a 63 plate uh, I mean, 63, type 65 reverb switch or a plate, oh, okay, I have the 63 right now, yeah, it sounds great, look what sweet, oh yes, the major seven sounds beautiful, yes. yeah go please don't kill the orca yeah yeah yeah that's cool okay so please no please no yeah that's cool so that's the verb trey and then after that there's the memory man, okay, so we have. the verb and uh the tremolo is off so so uh I was just trying out this center fender oh okay that's a compressor distortion and I thought that was cool I just put it in there yeah so you got it got it it's just a bit. of crunch like it's taxing an amp a little bit, yeah, like a lower water jam and that's called cool, what's the name of the fender, come, come, puglis, uh, I don't know if that can calculate anything, topic, something, someone in the comments tells us something. mandatory fender computers yes, that sounds good, yes, yes, sure, there is a confusion, okay, but it is a compressor, the compressor is very good there, I usually never put it in, I am using it, yes, of all modes, great pedal, yes, I like it, you can really see it. those lights too up there that yeah, yeah, kind of useful, that's good, yeah, if you're in a dark club and you can't really see where everything is going, yeah, and then you're and then the memory man, yeah, I've been. using it for years, I just like it, you know, it's got the tap stuff, yeah, that's right, uh, you know what's so good about these deluxe Memory Man electroharmonics?
The gain switch, another one, sounds very natural, since you want to control an amplifier a little. A little bit, I'll try to give you a little nudge if you're playing clean but you want a little nudge for the solo. Know? Yes, where do you usually keep it? Do you usually leave it on or do you just switch between the splits, you know you can, yeah, it's very easy to play and it's all set right there, it's got a thick delay sound, it's got a nice depth rate, kind of a smooth analog chorus , chorus, yeah, that's how it is when you're playing.
Do you modify it at all or, yeah, that's beautiful, I can't, is what that question asks when you're playing. Do you tweet between these different sounds or do you just set it and forget it? it was set to something normal, yeah, because otherwise you'd be playing with it all the time, right? You know, that's what I don't need to do because I have it. I am always a perfectionist with effect. I'm always leaning. down, sure, yeah, every time I see myself on a show where half the time it was going well, well, and I'm going to say, why do I do that?
It's like you know, it's like, where did he go? Yeah, yeah, so I usually have a set you know kind of a for the song or whatever and really all I have to do is just click on yes or off or play the tempo, yeah and that's it and then and then this box a b well, that's what it's like if you want to use uh you know, turn it on, use two amps together or turn one off, use the other one, use the one on the b a, you know, that's what I have , although I'm not actually using it at the moment.
Well this like I said, the twin is just kind of a backup in case this one goes, what year is that twin guy that's a pretty sure 65 twin, yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the real one, yeah, it sounds Well, are you in that supermarket? on the first channel, yeah, and I've always put it on the uh vibrato channel, yeah, until like a week ago, I put it in that spot, like you're like whoa, yeah, I kind of filled it up, you know, it got fat. and I started pressing a little better, so I thought: why didn't I know?
Why didn't you think he modified it or is that how it could have been something he had done because I'm going to have to ask? You're a good question, Jeff might have cared because there's a mod where you make them marshal type, I guess so, maybe that's what he did, yeah it sounds awesome whatever. I should know this, but I will. I have to call Jeff, what did you do to Miami? I love it, yeah, it's usually like what you did to my app, that sucks now. It's great, yes, it's great. I love it. I just found out about this four years later.
Well, that's great. Yeah well it's working for now anyway yeah next year I'll probably have you plug in the other side or something so who knows you just know how musicians are oh we got bored with a sound , it's a moving target and then it's back to where we started, yeah, yeah, sure, well, but I mean, I bet from the beginning you're pretty much a TV on a fender amp, so yeah, it's not So far from where you started, you know, no matter where you go, yeah. It means blackface basements, you know, showmans, yeah, fancy reverbs are great with TVs, yeah, and these, yeah, they're all good amps, yeah, all the tweed ones are great, always the fender does some things Well, you know, that's why they're there, right? forever, yes, and they make the right amp for every scenario.
You know, yeah, like a little Princeton for a while. You know, a small concert as something bigger. I love that and it's crazy how this super sounds louder than its twin. I seem to know it's crazy, don't I? Because you're only running it on three majors. Yes, he is getting good credit. uh yeah yeah that's a good complement you're welcome Jeff yeah oh he's fine yeah yeah right so anyway. Yeah, well, Brent, it's great to see you. It's great to hear you perform. It's amazing. Seriously, you do your thing here. Thank you. Yes, thanks. Check it.
Thank you so much.
