Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Reboot Duology - What Went Wrong!?

Mar 15, 2024
One of my favorite franchises growing up was the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles heroes. My story with them is not the typical story that you hear a lot when people mention the Ninja Turtles. I wasn't born when the Ninja Turtles were at their peak, far from being born in 2002, I couldn't even grow up with the 2003 series, for which many people were also nostalgic. I was one of the odd ducks who grew up with the 2012 show, that's right. young man, it was a great time to be a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fan, in my opinion the show did very well both in terms of critics and ratings.

I remember my friends and I were obsessed with that show, the franchise seemed to get more and more popular, there were toys. everywhere and not only that, but there was a new series of movies that was starting, those were none other than Michael Bay's

reboot

ed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies. Now these things are infamous before the Sonic movie controversy. There was a bastard. These movies are known for being. a huge departure from its source material not only in the design of the

turtles

but also in its backstory multiple different characters its tone everything was different from past series and even the previous movies this all started from advertisements when the trailers came out when came the movie itself, there was a lot of drama and controversy surrounding this movie before it was released, unlike anything I saw at the time, you have to remember this was in 2013, 2014, things like the movie controversy aforementioned sonic was not as popular as it is today, people were not.

As much as they complained back then, as crazy as it sounds, but wow, people complained about this movie. The series actually had decent success between 2012 and 2015. I would say the Ninja Turtles were one of the most popular boy brands around me. being part of the main demo, but just a couple of weeks after the sequel's release, the producers confirmed that the series was dead and that there would not be a third installment as everyone expected. Why did this happen? Why these movies? fail, why couldn't a franchise be successfully started? Well, let's take a look back at these Michael Bay Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies, the history, and how these things were made until their cancellation.

In 2009, Viacom was the new owner of the

teenage

mutant

ninja turtles, whose main home was nickelodeon. Viacom knew exactly what to do, obviously, producing a new line of toys for a television series and being owners of Paramount Pictures, a new film series was on the way. Yes, Paramount Pictures, the same producers of the Transformers movie, so there is only one person for Michael Bay to be the only possible choice. Starting this new series was truly a blessing, but it could have been a lot worse because he was only attached as a producer so he wouldn't direct the movie, but to this day we all call them Michael Bay's Ninja Turtles movies, not the jonathan libsman ones, i don't know how the hell to say his last name, but the funny thing is that it could have gotten a lot worse, also because they were going to hire brett ratner at one point, the worst director in hollywood.
I would say we dodged a bullet there, but yes, the movie was expected to be released sometime in 2012, a production that began in early 2010, once they brought in michael bay, the thing is, the movie

went

through a absolute development hell, honestly it's surprising that this was released in 2014 with numerous delays and different dates within 2012, 2013 and then finally 2014. If it was even given up for dead at some point, that's how bad it was in 2012, During an initial Nickelodeon event, Michael Bay spoke about his upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, several clips were leaked from that presentation where Michael Bay stated. that the ninja turtles would be from an alien race when they see this movie, the kids are going to believe one day that these turtles really exist when we are done with this movie, these turtles are from an alien race and they are going to be nervous and tough. funny and completely adorable, not only that, but he revealed that the movie would simply be called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, without any teenage mutants at the forefront, this caused a lot of negative reactions, not only from ninja turtles fans and culture fans pop.
Michael Bay is single. Transformers horror movies, even American History, so what made you think he was going to take ownership of the Turtles and walk away? You know what I'm going to do, right? I'll stick with the cannon, but also the people who worked on Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, multiple actors, voice actors, even the creators spoke. At this it got to the point where Michael Bay had to release a statement explaining that the title was simply a very important request to make it shorter and simpler and that the film is still very faithful to who the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were originally.
The footage also indicates that April wouldn't be the 16th like the current show, even giving some ideas about who they'd like to cast as Ken Watanabe Shredder, but of course there's another controversy when it comes to Shredder that we'll get to. later in the video, okay jeez ricardo, this is a lot of controversy and things happen only in pre-production. Surely we're done here, no, there's a lot more and yes, we're talking about it because it's that interesting. An entire script called The Blue Door was leaked just a couple of months after Nickelodeon's initial presentation, so fans already knew the direction this movie was taking and this didn't help Michael Bay's case, as it featured a lot of major changes that the movie followed. the turtles that come from another dimension which consists of turtle warriors splinter is an alien from the same dimension as well and in this movie the shadow would be Colonel Schrader who is a government agent but secretly is an alien who can grow blades on the body and the foot.
It would be a covert operations group and in this movie Casey Jones was the main protagonist, it would be an 18-year-old security guard, an amateur ice hockey player who finds the turtles and is the focus of the movie, Emin April would be having problems with relationship because she I would move to New York City to intern at CBS, very skilled there, Viacom and the difference with this movie is that Raphael would have been the comic relief instead of Michelangelo and Michelangelo would have fallen in love with the eternal woman of her own planet. One time when this came out this also sparked a statement from Michael Bay again because yes there was also a lot of backlash to this because it was legit he stated that this wasn't a rope before he was in the movie even though It has a long date.
After he joined the movie in 2010, they clearly had a lot of work to do to make this movie at least watchable, they hired a new writer and had to think about how they were going to approach this franchise because they were changing a lot. the source material and while I don't think anything with this movie was normal from here on out, it was definitely a more steady development process than before, but that's not saying much and after a gigantic marketing campaign in 2014 that included toys and ties . -ins with pizza hut and crushed soda that yes, the name appeared in the movie which was officially released on August 8, 2014.
I want to mention this before I get into the movie itself, but the movie was released in Australia on August 11. September 2014 and I released this poster to promote it in Australia on 9/11. I'll let you take from that what you want, so now that Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with emphasis on the Ninja Turtles is kind of a middle finger, I'm not going to lie. that's kind of funny, how did the movie turn out well? Let's take a look. The film begins with a bit of the turtle's backstory told by Master Splinter. It has this comic book slash graphic novel art style, which is nice. touch, I guess and it's a call back to the turtle's origins, but we'll come back to that later.
There is a shot that is too reminiscent of Fruit Ninja. I don't know why they needed to do this. The movie really starts with O'Neill. being played by megan fox, you told me you smell like weed and I said I'm grass now, when people talk about this movie they mention that megan foxx isn't doing a terrible job and that she's done a lot worse than other movies like the ones Transformers and other things she's done more recently, but I feel like if it were any other actress or any other movie, I don't think it would be that easy for her because, if we're real, she's not real yet. how great in this movie teenage mutant ninja turtle at the beginning of the movie it is established that april really wants to work on the story do more with her work achieve more than what she has been doing she is a little sick of being over sexualized by michael bay i want say having to do this kind of thing in the news where we are introduced to vern who is like the male sidekick slash male lead yes you will be played by will arnett and i like willarnette i think he does a great job as lego batman but a My no.
I like him in this movie and it's not Will's fault, he's not a bad actor and he's not doing a bad job, it's just that what he's given isn't good, he's just not a good character every time he's on screen. , it's like a pissing contest between him. and michelangelo, who can make the most embarrassing, sexualizing, unfunny jokes, discovers that something is happening at the dog slater that night, by the way, product placement in the sky, i remember when that existed and in this part of the movie That's when I started to notice that this film has color grading.
Yes, it's review time. People talk about technical cinema. Now let me say this. I don't think this movie is shot that badly. The cinematography is really good. There is a great shot. composition, but something that really distracts me and almost takes me out of everything is that the film, the entire film has a very strange green tint to it. I know this is a Ninja Turtles movie, guys, but come on, this is stupid anyway, while the dog she. I can't take photos because it's too dark and this is where we first make fun of the turtles and for some reason they leave their calling card.
April Turtles wouldn't be so difficult for you if you didn't give up these things. Now she's been freaking out about it for weeks. Now we go back to Megan Fox's apartment trying to act, where she is talking to a roommate who is only there to get a slight laugh from the audience because she is normal because the turtles were so stupid. She leaves April's business card now She goes to her work to tell Whoopi Goldberg because why not about this crazy ninja underground crime that's happening now? I get that you want to portray April as crazy and not that important ah, that's just April jumping on trampolines in the news, but I'm sorry, whoopi goldberg and all her employees are unreasonably mean to her, what are you doing in Brooklyn de anyway?
Was there a trampoline convention? You can have people who think she's weird and joke with her, but like. they're bullying her it just doesn't make sense it's megan fox who on god's green earth would bully her is megan fox you're stirring the bag my brother after this we were first introduced to the crusher now earlier in this video i didn't mention that there was a Controversy surrounding Shredder, one of the main antagonists, if not the main antagonist of the film, is Eric Sax played by William Fitchner and in 2013, William Fitchner, who was cast in the film, said that he would be playing Shredder now. , what's the problem with this ricardo while william fitchner looks like this and shredder and all his source material looks like this?
I mean, not only was this a case of whitewashing a character, but it also didn't align with the source material which fans obviously already had a problem with, but if you look at this club right here, that's not William Fitchner, that It is because they heard a lot of controversy around this casting in the middle of production, they changed it and this is not Some conspiracy theory now this is confirmed by William Fitchner himself. I think you can see it throughout the entire process.development of this movie they kept going back and forth about what they wanted and didn't want to do, which is why Shredder is more of a bully in this movie. instead of the actual main protagonist, even if his suit is absolutely fucked up, he goes in and out of English and Japanese because the kids, where he talks about his poor motivation, Eric Socks is giving a speech where he talks about how he and his company They are going to help New York City keep it safe, etc.
Megan Fox is there? yeah im gonna keep calling her megan fox cant call her april o'neil im sorry they talked for about and yeah i timed it 40 seconds and then while april and vern are in the car she says eric sex was so inspiring How is it possible? You talked for less than a minute, he told you to stay there, batter, if we notice, there's some stuff going on in the subway and she's going to check it out even though we had that little tease from the dogs. I'd say this is our first proper tease of the turtles.
There are even some shots where we can see decent looks. In them my cat is playing chopsticks with chopsticks why are we still talking about the keyboard cat and what you will see is that these guys are absolutely huge although it doesn't scare me because I am an adult I can only imagine when a kid might feel like watching this is a little scary, don't mess with the camera, Megan Fox looks very scared during this whole sequence and once everyone is defeated they head back to town on this completely normal empty street in New York, Megan Fox sees The Turtles are in a building now, this is our first proper look at the Turtles.
I like how they created the suspense, but I think they focused too much on Megan Fox for too long. It's good to keep us. guessing and waiting and leaving us in the dark literally and figuratively, but it took us 21 minutes to see them properly, but I still like this reveal, it makes it feel important, it's very well shot, the turtles look good, they're well animated. Even if the designs are questionable, well, I've been putting it off long enough, right? Well, here we go. I'm sure everyone who followed zoom during its release knows that the turtle designs were a major source.
Of controversy, obviously this is a major departure from the source material, how they look in literally every other media, not only are they photorealistic, but they are giant monsters over six feet tall. I just wanted to clarify that I'm also over six feet tall. to any potential female love interest out there. I didn't want that to discourage you from having any potential interest in me because I know how some people feel about not being taller than six feet. I thought I just want to clarify that I have six too. I'm six foot two, so I just wanted to leave that out there, you know, all with battle-damaged bandanas, tattoos, pants, even the stuff that has really bad implications, Donnie is a complete mess, these aren't the best designs of ninja turtles, I think keeping them simplistic was the way to go, but this was the kind of movie they wanted to make, so this is what they were going to do and honestly, as time went on, they grew on me, so In no way am I saying these are good designs, I think there is a way.
There's too much going on with them, it's like Michael Bay was saying: how can we cover these guys with too much crap to the point where you can barely see them? I don't know, I think they match each other's personalities pretty well as the movie progresses. In a way, I have to accept it instead of complaining that it doesn't look like the 1990 movie. Yes, those are designs, they're not great, but they're not the worst thing in the world and I can live with them. back off raph ma'am hello I apologize my colleague forgot to say please johnny knoxville sounds so weird it's in leonardo I'm sorry it's so out of place it's especially strange because spoiler in the sequels he's not played by johnny noxel he is played by the guy who actually he does the mocap job and guess what he does a much better job and he actually sounds like leonardo, he doesn't sound like he's a jock, but let's not get ahead of ourselves here, that's the second movie, something I noticed is that they A lot of times we're a little bit undecided in this scene about what they want the tone of these turtles to be, particularly Raph and Leo Mikey aren't very funny all the time, they're very intimidating and they don't really feel like heroes and it's not like That's a plot point that Continue learning to inflict justice the right way.
No, they're just scary and their designs don't help. Obviously we know the turtles are good because the movie is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but I don't. I know this is out of pocket if I was abroad I'd be going crazy don't say a word about this to anyone if you do we'll find you april o'neil oh mikey was that pepperoni oh brother this guy's stick abra go back to his home and gets really scared after hearing the name Leonardo because that's what he named one of his pets and yes, this is where some of the backstory has changed.
April's father, who died in a laboratory fire, was experimenting on the four turtles. and Splinter this is shown through April's 4k quality camcorder footage from the 1990s, where she names them all and gives them the colors of her. This is a major departure from the source material. April had no connection to the turtles from the beginning, they just met by chance, no. just that, but it's extremely convenient, the irony of that is crazy, it's great to branch out and deviate from your source material from time to time, I don't know, I think this was a mistake, like I said, it's too convenient for the La April and her father's plot could still have had a connection to Eric's sacks, but the turtles didn't need to be involved, they could have simply found each other like they did in the movie without any prerequisites, cut to the turtles sneaking back to their sewer trying to avoid. master splinter because they're not supposed to be out this late doing what they're doing and honestly this is where the best part of the movie shines, the turtles are the best part of the movie, it's just that we don't get to see them as much, basically just when they are introduced the conflict has already started there is no time to learn these characters and get to know them and actually develop an emotional connection with them it's fun when they interact they have great chemistry for cgi characters but we'll get there More of that emotional connection later, we'll see the abusive father, Master Splinter, and then we'll go back to April, yay, Megan Fox is trying her best to sound and look crazy, but she still looks incredibly pretty and well-groomed while trying to do it. . explain to whoopi goldberg what's going on and whoopi goldberg is actually trying to listen to her and understand where she's coming from, she sounds genuinely interested for a moment, but megan fox is doing a horrible job of presenting this. she has proof, literal tangible proof, but she doesn't show him what makes this worse is that when she gets fired she goes to eric sac's property to talk to him about this, but what makes it even worse is that she shows him proof that I should have shown whoopi goldberg from the turtles.
Why didn't you show him whoopi that anyway once Master Splinter was able to make Michelangelo spill the beans by luring him with a perfectly hot Pizza Hut pizza, which how did you get it so hot? You live in a sewer. Their only solution is to kidnap. April O'Neil finds the girl, bring her here. I remember when I said that Megan Fox really wasn't doing the best job. That's what I'm talking about, she doesn't get excited like that, she points out and this is where another problem arises. comes about because Splinter explains April and the Turtles' backstory, although the beginning of the movie is a bit shorter, so what's the point of doing that at the beginning if you're just going to explain it later to keep engagement ?
Upstairs is the movie, it doesn't matter, you already have the children in the seats. One of the biggest complaints I've seen with this movie is that in this flashback scene it is explained that Splinter learned the ninjutsu of the turtles and himself from a book. Dumb, yes it is, but this is also Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles so I don't care and right on cue the foot appears at the perfect moment in the middle of the sequence when everyone's getting their asses cooked, Of course, we have to take some crushed soda. product placement, I have a safe place for you to hide and if you're thirsty, I have a secret stash of orange crack behind the bridge.
Honestly, there was one really surprisingly good touch that was either very well written or improvised, where Leonardo tries to talk to Splinter. but instead of calling him sensei, it switches to dad at the end and says what are you doing and I think that was a really nice touch and it was a lot better than it deserves to be after all, but Ralph is taken hostage because Raph is presumed to be dead. by some random foot soldier rath must rescue his brothers and let Splinter die alone, we will drain every last ounce of their blood to get it, even if it kills them, no shit will kill them, you're taking all their blood away.
Katuverner's listening. to this song all alone while making this dry ass sandwich everything is

wrong

with this character everything eric sacks for whatever reason is explaining his master plan to the turtles like an idiot for a reason to get his point across he uses a test subject like this is They need to get there very easily. This is the first time one of the turtles has met Shredder properly. The thing is, Raph gets his ass kicked, but what he doesn't understand is why he doesn't use any of his brother's weapons. I think it would have been a really cool opportunity while Raf is about to be killed by Shredder.
April asks Donnie what they should do. He says adrenaline and then April walks up to this machine where there's a giant button that says adrenaline. Schroeder is a sweetheart. Dad needs to take care of him, so he just leaves instead of killing Raf for whatever reason now that the turtles have actually done cocaine for the first time oh wow, I feel really good right now I feel like cleaning who wants to clean the turtle dojo turtles now? The need to escape and rap is basically perfectly fine, but one of my biggest problems with this version of the turtles is the fact that they are literally bulletproof, which eliminates any tension that might be there because they can literally do this and they are completely fine, they get into the truck action sequences which is one of the most marketed aspects of this movie, it was the most epic thing ever seen at the time and it's a lot of fun, it was shot very well, they use every turtle in a really interesting way we take a look at megan fox's butt what's not to like about this? that this is a very well done sequence and one of the highlights of the movie, it's a lot of fun, a lot of this movie can be very boring so it's like a breath of fresh air, somehow the turtles come back to the city and it's time to face the crusher, this best release poisonous gas into the air if you haven't detected it.
Yes, this is literally the end of the Amazing Spider-Man. Honestly, the climax of this movie isn't all that engaging or fun to watch. because it's so generic, not only am I not interested in what the villain is about to do and like I said, Shutter is mostly a thug, Eric Sacks is the main villain, but come on, we know what's about to happen, He said it, he said, the month of April is coming. the final blow to Shredder which a lot of people are upset about but I honestly don't care that much and the movie tries to give the turtle some character development with a confession moment which is a very tired trope at this point but honestly , this movie is full of a lot of clichés anyway, that's where my main problem arises, although I love the turtles and these characters mean a lot to me because I love them in other media.
I don't really feel like I have to meet them. All of them very well in this movie, I know their personality because I knew their personality and other means. I didn't really get to see much interaction between all of them when we meet them properly for the first time and they're alone. without April we are already involved in the plot, we also don't get to see them interact much with each other when they are alone, everything is centered around April, so yeah, while this raft moment is cool and all at the same time. At the same time, there wasn't much tension between him and the others, just a passing mention that he left anyway, the city is saved, Splinter is saved, and everything is fine.
Michael Bay got his request for an explosion and the movie ends anyway, so it did. Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2014 and it was okay, I guess after complaining about this for the last 15 minutes I'm not going to sit here and pretend it's so great, this movie has a lot of problems, the script is bad. the pacing is horrible the characters are incredibly underdeveloped megan fox has a very bad performance and although people like whoopi goldberg william finchner and willarnett are trying, I don't like their characters at all, there is very little to invest in It seems like this movie always moves forward without slowing down and allows me to care about these characters specifically with the turtles, like I said just a couple of seconds ago, but this is what I don't really dislike very much, yes, there are many problems. with that and a lot of things that really bother me, but at the same time I see what they were trying to do and I can appreciate that I like the cinematography outside of the green tint, there are a handful of moments with the turtles that are fun and remind me of those classic characters.
I appreciate the tone they chose even if they're not that dedicated. I'm glad you guys listened to those early reviews because this could have been a lot worse without that. The film did not do well critically and had many fans, but the general public loved it, earning nearly $500 million at the box office, so just four days after the film's release a sequel was given the green light. Now remember when we were talking about 10 minutes about the development of the first movie, yeah, we're not going to do that this time, it's not because it's a little cornered or anything, it's just because this development was normal, the main difference this time is that the film had a The new director Dave Green objected to Jonathan Neisman, who was supposedly not that good. guy on the set of the first film after being briefly known as half-shell Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, the title was changed The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows, which is actually the name of a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles video game from back in the day saying in the past like it was a long time ago, it was like 2013. wait, that was 10 years ago, I take that back. anyway the phone was released on june 3 2016 let's talk about this where the movie opens oh yeah the green carp is back that's true guys this movie has the green 10 2 get used to it and this Maybe the movie makes a very good decision by starting with the turtles.
Yes, we actually get to spend more time with them in this movie and this time it feels like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. they're on their way to an upcoming game which is a really fun opening scene even though it's largely cg I think it's actually pretty well filmed I can't believe I'm saying this about everyone's ninja turtle movies modes, we have an introduction to each member it's really weird, this is a little unnecessary, I mean I feel like we all know these characters, I mean we're watching a sequel for God's sake, but they get to the next game, enjoy their pizza and try to be as loud as possible.
They may be trying to get caught. Here you can see the turtles really well and this is where you can see the fact that the turtles are a little less detailed this time, they don't look bad by any means, well I mean. You know what I'm saying is if it doesn't look bad, it doesn't look bad, but this time there is a lot less detail because the turtles need more screen time, not only that, but as I mentioned before, the change of this movie . It was pretty quick here, we're reintroduced to everyone's favorite character, see, oh god, you know what appeared in so many magazines.
Next time we are reintroduced in April, but not only that she is infiltrating Baxter Stockman, a famous Ninja Turtles villain from the comics and television series who played by none other than tyler perry comic-con michael bay do you really make movies mean and you're kind of gross but i gotta thank you because this april pull all the info out of baxter's ipad since the turtles are still on their next game or one of the dumbest forms of product placement happens it's pizza look at it look at my shoe , explain to me that for me it's pizza on my Nike, I'm not talking about anyone who calls their shoe Nike, no one talks like that, April discovers that Baxter Stockman is planning to break Shredder out of jail, who by the way is played by a completely different actor new and it's not even subtle here there's a side by side of the actor from the first movie in the second yeah they couldn't affect anyone different the only similarities maybe the fact that there are scars and that he's asian but the scars aren't even consistent with the ones in the first movie so I guess he's just asian, he took off his mask basically the entire movie so I guess they wanted someone more conventionally attractive, I don't know.
I think this casting decision was a little strange. This is also where we are introduced to a bunch of new characters one after another, not only are we introduced to Bebop and Rocksteady but we are also introduced to Casey Jones, these two couldn't do it. be more different from each other. I think bebop and rocksteady are honestly one of my favorite parts of the movie and Casey Jones is one of my least favorite. I'm not one of those people who say you should stick to the source material. but since they should have stuck to the source material, it's not just that he's a cop, it's that steven amell isn't doing a good job.
I don't think stephen amell is a bad actor by any means. Now I'm not gay, but I would let Stephen ravage me like a hungry tiger, but throughout the entire movie he has this eating grin on his face the entire time, it's like he knows what he's filming is dumb, I just can't take it in. serious to the guy I'm supposed to take. some points i just can't that's officer jones and someday i'll be a detective what are you five at the beginning of the movie? He's really there to fill the day's quota of bad words, you damn son of what.
Damn, the turtles are now on the move to stop this escape and we get a look at the turtle van which is really practical and looks really cool, it's obviously different than the one in the first movie but I think it was a good change, there's many. Little details inside and it looks really fun and I would like to hang out here if being practical would help a lot. They could have done the CGI, which I appreciate they didn't. Conor McGregor and Kodak Black. Back here, our channel, with Shredder, let's talk about how much they love him, but before any meaningful three-way conversation can happen, which I'm sure would have happened, the escape begins honestly, this card chase is so much fun, It's all practical, I think I'm sorry, I'm talking.
It's a lot about practicality, but I think it's very important in filmmaking. Shredder escapes, but he's teleported away to kill a famous Ninja Turtles villain and I swear to God this is the most boring part of the movie. He's literally just leaving exposition non-stop wherever I can. I didn't get into him as a villain or character because he literally just gives you video game-like objectives to go collect these three things and then build a portal once again. This is dumb, but it's the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so I have to accept that this is part of the movie where I think everyone realizes that it's taking itself a lot less seriously than the first one, it's a lot cheesier, which I honestly don't know how to feel and it tries a lot to be like 80's cartoons but my favorite interpretations of the ninja turtles is like the 1990 movie in the 2003 series stuff so they have their fun but it's They take themselves much more seriously.
I like that, that's what they were going for with the first movie. It definitely feels like a Nickelodeon movie. It's not a bad thing, but it's still a huge tonal shift from the first shutter that recruits Bebop and Rock City to become its bully test subjects. He meets Baxter Stockman, who uses the mud to turn them into giant rhinos and wild boars. April, a little pig, was infiltrating all of this, which was really dumb, and she manages to escape with a vile cuis, but the foot finally catches up with her, but don't worry, Casey Jones, she's there as intimidating as ever. , man, this guy is.
Cool fun fact: This is the only time Casey Jones wears his iconic mask in the entire movie and they all meet the turtles and his mom can't stop smiling. Donny experiments with the sludge and discovers that the sludge can turn them into humans. He goes to tell Leo about this, but Leo warns them not to tell anyone. Luckily, Mikey overhears this and this is where the main conflict begins. The film is titled Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Out of the Shadows. Much of the film's emphasis is on them. being in the shadows and wanting to escape they're outcasts they're weirdos I'm weird I'm a weirdo I don't fit in and I don't want to fit in and that's a big part of the movie so One time, when Mikey tells Raph about this, he and Leo fight a lot, actually like this fight, no action needed to happen, just them talking and arguing honestly, you think it's very well done, what about Mikey?
You don't get a vote. There's only one vote that counts in this family, mine, I don't think Leo was supposed to be nice in this movie, the team is effectively divided for a moment, when Leo and Donnie go to infiltrate this museum where Shadow was just going to collect. One of the pieces of their portal, all Raph and Mikey break into the police department to pick up that can of sludge so they can turn into humans, but the foot already has it and this is where the four of them get together again and they all get caught by police. being the first time humans besides April and Casey see them for the first time, of course the police wouldn't shoot them and they managed to escape.
There's a moment where they can talk to Splinter about how they're feeling and what just happened, but it literally stops immediately because the pacing of this movie is absolutely crazy, they can't stop moving, there's no time to slow down. , they discover that bebop and rocksteady are in Brazil and there is only one thing left for them to do. go to Brazil, I will say it's fun to see the Turtles outside of New York for a while and a really cool fight scene happens, Bebop and Rock City. Honestly, in my opinion, it's the highlight of the movie, but it has a bit of I felt a little bitter in my mouth because it broke the dramatic tension of what was happening anyway, Bebop and Rock City managed to make it out in the last piece and Leo is still an absolute moron, thanks guys, real team effort man, shut the fuck up.
The portal opens and it's time for the final battle, the techno drum arrives along with Krang as they contemplate whether they should become humans. Leo leaves with Raph but he says no, I'll be honest, it would have been great. to see what they look like as humans I know a lot of people think that sounds really silly no no it's something we've seen in the movies before the police are waiting for them when they come out and I guess everything is quiet when Vernon confesses that he wasn't the one who really defeated shredder, they all split up the whites are going to fight bebop and rocksteady and the ninja turtles are going to fight krang why the hell is christ standing like that you fool the turtles fight with crank on the technodrome yada yada yada, great bombastic action sequence, I'll come back a thousand times stronger that didn't age well, the turtles are congratulated with a key to the city where all their character development comes true, which I really feel like this one does better than the First, when it comes down to it, it feels more earned when there was an actual central theme surrounding this god.
Stephen Amell is too strong. If Megan Fox looked at me like that, she would let out a soft mode and fall to her knees. The turtles celebrate. on top of the statue of liberty and the movie ends and so did the franchise, although this one did better critically, it's like comparing a piece to a piece with sparks, not only that, but the movie didn't do well in the box. The office only amassed about 250 million, compared to the nearly 500 million the first earned, which is effectively cutting it in half. After this, the franchise died just a couple of weeks when producers said a sequel was highly unlikely, but the thing is, this worked out much better with fans sticking closer to the source material and making changes that even alter the first. movie.
It was pretty much everything Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles fans asked for. I just think they would have liked the designs to be different, but in terms of the story, this is very Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Like I said, the tone deviates a lot from the first one, which was both a good and bad thing - on the one hand, you're more faithful to the source material, which makes the fans happier, but on the other hand, you're being incredibly inconsistent in playing with what the setting of the first film, but not only many continuity errors reframe what could have allowed for greater cohesion.
I feel like I don't know, although I would say this one is technically a little better, there are many aspects of the first movie that I enjoy more, the problem with this is that the Ninja Turtles were slowly disappearing, not at all what I've seen, the Ninja Turtles are either unpopular or incredibly niche now, but I think there was a bit of fatigue. Honestly, a lot of the kids who grew up with the first movie were getting a little older, including me, who was opposed to being in elementary school. When the first movie came out, II was entering my last year of high school.
It just wasn't there. that they don't like ninja girls anymore and I feel like it was a lot of kids my age, not only do I think the ninja turtles fan base is in no way big enough to carry this franchise itself when it was incredibly popular with the people who weren't. it was necessarily part of the fanbase and it was just a really cool franchise that a lot of kids liked on Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon knew this and they put out so many things related to it, the TV show, toys galore, merchandise everywhere and then you only had one.
One year gap between the release of the TV show and the actual movie, that movie was incredibly popular and then the show kept running, eventually you'll run out of steam because you're doing too much with the ninja turtles, it's so many things at once and despite that the movie was popular maybe some people didn't like the direction the movie took it was very dark it was very different I'm sure some parents didn't like that and you never know maybe some kids They didn't like it either, I mean, yeah I'm not surprised if the kids didn't like the look of this.
I'd say it's a mix of things that this movie series got burned for and yes, although I'm sure some people would go to the designs and that threw everyone off. I saw them before the first movie came out and then people went to see the first movie and it made a ton of money so yeah those aren't great that's not really the reason they failed I think it was a mix of fan fatigue. it's getting old and again the critical reception for this still wasn't that great, it's like a 38 on rotten tomatoes, ninja trolls is just one of those properties that has waves, it has very high highs and very low lows.
The first film was part of a very high level and the second, unfortunately, was the trajectory to a very low level. There really isn't much going on with the franchise right now. After coming out of the shadows, a new TV show followed, but it was canceled after only two seasons because no one watched it even though it has a large audience. There are currently no Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles shows on the air at the moment and the franchise is a bit dormant just releasing comics and merchandise, but it's not like things are incredibly bleak and there's nothing to look forward to because there are actually two movies in production right now it's just a year away, it's called Turtles Teenage mutant ninjas.
The Next Chapter, which is actually produced by Seth Rogen, is an animated movie so I guess you can compare it to the 2007 Tmnt movie and there is a live action

reboot

as well. works by colin jost and his brother now which is kind of interesting because not only is it also live action but michael bay is still attached to it, it's basically the same team working on it minus the writers and i'm sure there will be a The new director isn't quite sure what's in store for either of these films, but I'm looking forward to it.
It was so much fun to be a part of that Ninja Turtles craze in the early 2010s. I'm sure we'll never experience anything like that. again because as a kid there's something special about these characters in this franchise, it's a lot of fun, it's a real shame these movies weren't successful, it's almost like they were doomed from the start, viacom gets an interesting new property and they want to go all out with this, they just have the wrong people in charge, but at the same time, whatever these characters do next, you can bet they'll ask you there.
