Installing a new manure system in the main barn…

ready to go everything's installed now we just did it and it took us like 3 minutes to put it in there so it looks great we've got that new tray there new spring on the dashboard wing really nice and taut and we turn it by hand because we don't actually have a belt our old belt had a spot where it burned so worse ordered one of those and it's arriving today at 1 so it's gonna have to go pick it up on your way to get sawdust and then we'll be ready to go, so anyway, if I turn this by hand, you can see those gears or teeth, I should say, go in the middle, right there and then go.

In the meantime, we'll have a quick cup of coffee before we start making the chain and then it will be a big test, see if it works well. Right now there are only 1020, so we'll have to wait a little while to get that belt, but by the time we put the chain on it will probably be around noon or a little after, so we won't have to wait long for that. Brent is calling our local dealer and local, it's not local, it's like an hour. so he's calling them to see if they have 25 because if we can't get them now we're going to have to shovel this thing by hand every time we can get it because obviously you can't get it down with a skid steer anymore. now that the flights are there so yeah it would have been nice to know we were going to run out but what we were thinking was Brent ordered a chain in 2012 and he ordered 380 feet he called the guy to make sure and he didn't I don't know if Brent had some chain left over that he used or if the numbers were wrong, but this barn certainly has over 380 feet of chain, it's more like 400 because, like I said, we ran out back here and I mean, you still have to go to the pump house and then come back this way, so yeah, it's clearly not enough, but there's no good way to measure this Barn, use one of the long tapes and it's close, but it's not super accurate, we've done it before and I came out with around 390, so we were hoping we would make it, but we weren't so lucky now.

I'm waiting for Brent to get back to figure out what we're going to do. It's 2:00 right now, decisive time. It's another one, but we have the water, it's not on right now, but obviously we turn it on when it's running and we've been running it so far so well. One thing we did notice is that the sprocket appears to be so new that it doesn't actually try to loosen the links like it should so they bounce around a lot, we hope they just wear out because everything is aligned as it should be and as move forward, we're just going to push the rest. of the manure there and I will show you the final results. I think that will last a long day.

Oh, thank God, we made it. It's over. In fact, it started to calm down a lot towards the end. I think what. what I had to do was just use this chain, obviously this was not the chain that was on the head so it will take a lot of wear and tear so now all we have to do is put the barn on the bed and clean everything up, place the dishes back where they should be and everything. The only thing we're really going to have to do is go to bed. gutters because they are going to scare the cows because now the gutters are empty.
