design just loving this moment can always stay here forever Hello crafty friends my name is Misty and welcome to Gleason designs today's video is super special it's part of the Duping Through the Holidays playlist hosted by Brandy from DIY Fight each week there will be new places to cheat new makers new diy inspiration and new giveaways my week is etsy and again every week we will have a different diy inspiration. There are also freebies, so be sure to listen to the freebie question. I will also talk more about this later. in the video and there are so many amazing creators participating in this that you definitely don't want to miss the foreign Christmas ornaments which are always a big hit on Etsy, however I have noticed more and more fabric wrapped ornaments popping up everywhere this year. sweater style, but I also love the bunch of fabric showing on top, so I decided to combine the two and make my own.

I'll use three from Dollar Tree in the larger clear plastic ornaments they carry again, this is the largest size. that you can also do this with these smaller sizes. I'll also be using three of these hats from Dollar Tree. I have one in white, black and grey. All you're going to do is cut out the tag and then take your topper and you're going to place it right inside the hat once you have the topper centered down inside the hat, fold the fabric under and add a little bit of hot glue around it. the top of the ornament right next to the hanger and then start pulling the fabric back up and pressing it down with that hot glue so it stays in place and makes the fabric even more secure.

I grab a piece of jute twine from Dollar Tree, you can use Ribbon or whatever you want and right around the silver cap that is There is also the hanger at the top of the ornament, you want to slide the twine through and make sure you tie it in that knot just around of the part of the cap that you do not want to tie on top once the thread or ribbon is securely tied. You can take a pair of scissors and start cutting off the excess fabric at the top of the ornament and you can leave it as long or as short as you want with the excess fabric cut off.

Now you can see why it is important to wrap the ornament. thread around the silver part instead of on top so you can spread out your fabric and still have your hanger. I also repeated those same steps with the black hat and the gray hat. I'm not going to show them except that I do want to show them. Guys, I realized while I was making the black hat that these hats are the ones with a hole in the top so you can put the ponytail out and I wanted to make sure that hole wasn't there to fix everything.
diy dollar tree christmas decor dupes dollar tree diy decor 2022
What I did was add a little hot glue to the bottom and pinch the fabric closed and as you can see it looks like the hole was never there. Thank you. I love this sweater look that the hats give these trims and once. I again did the same steps for all three embellishments, adding them to the hat, tying with twine and cutting off the excess, although these embellishments look beautiful alone with that sweater look, I have to jazz them up a little more. and I'm going to use some of this greenery that I got from a local goodwill organization and I just glue a little piece that has a pine cone on it right next to the well, in front, but look at the side of our ornament I also wanted to make a bow of yarn, so I just grab some yarn from Dollar Tree, spread my fingers apart, and start wrapping it around my fingers.
You at least want to do it 10 or more times, the more times you wrap it, the thicker and fuller it will be. The bow will make sure you have plenty of excess, take the end, place it between your fingers and as you do so you will create a loop, place the end through that loop and pull in the direction you want your tail to go, then all over. what you do is slide it off your fingers, cut the tails to the length you would like them to be and then hot glue them right on the front of the ornament because I want this to be a matching set for me too.
I also want to add some of the other colors from the other ornaments so I grabbed some of this black baker's twine from Dollar Tree and I could have done this before adding the twine bow and greenery but I didn't decide if I was even going. to do this until later, so I took a piece and wrapped it like I did the twine in the first place and just tied it in a knot and then I found these beautiful Christmas ornaments at Walmart, super cheap, only 2.68 for six of them and the six are different. I just took it out, cut a little piece of the hanger so it wasn't as long and then glued it right under the bow, now it's time to add a hanger back. the ornament and I had this ribbon that I knew would match the ribbon that is also on the little mini ornaments from Walmart that hang under our bow and I gave this ribbon from Dollar Tree and I'm also using some Dew yarn as well as a piece of that black baker's twine so I could gather it all together at the top and I just threaded it around that little metal ring that's at the top of the ornament hanger and I just tied it into a knot right at the top. up and cut off the excess and now you have a really pretty hanger to go with your really pretty giant ornament.
Now that the white is ready, I move on to the black and since I want them to be a set, I want them to look good. They look similar but also look different at the same time, so for the black I added two pieces of greenery, one towards each side, just like with the white. I also want to incorporate some of the other colors that are on the other ornaments, so I take this white ribbon that has this kind of black stitch pattern on it and I wrap it around my fingers twice while my fingers are spread apart, take the end and place it between your fingers as you do this, you create this loop here, put the end through that loop and pull in the direction you would like your tail to be and now you have a double loop loop instead of a single loop loop, Then, just like with any other bow, fluff your loops making sure they are how you would like them to be.
Then I like to join my ribbon together, so I just fold it in half at the end and then cut it at a diagonal angle inwards and you'll get this nice dovetail end on your ribbon. I then used my hot glue gun to glue the bow on. right in the center of the greenery that's on the ornament now with the bow on, I grab another one of those little mini ornaments from Walmart again I cut the hanger off just to shorten it a little bit. I add a little hot glue on those little pieces just to stick them together and then I glue the little mini ornament right under the bow just like I did with the white ornament above.
I pour the hanger over the black trim. I take some Dollar Tree Dew yarn, about four pieces. I push it up under a circle that is on the hanger and then pick it up at the top and tie it in a tight knot. One of the reasons I liked using these giant ornaments is because they also look great as a

decor

piece whether on a shelf or on a tiered tray for the last ornament, the gray one, I do pretty much the same steps, added vegetation, however on the other side to make it look different I make a loop of yarn which is much fuller and also a white loop which is just one loop instead of the two loops and I glue those two together I glue it to the greenery and then I add our little mini ornament from Walmart and for the hanger on this one I just used that black Baker twine again about three or four pieces and picked it up. up and tie a knot and once you have it, you will have this beautiful set of three giant ornaments it's cold outside but the fire keeps us warm we can't spend the night under the mistletoe and I bought you a gift that I will put under the

tree

tomorrow is what I found this beautiful rustic deer on Etsy.
I knew I had to recreate it and I knew exactly how I could do it but I wanted to make mine as a pair so I found these like 10 reindeer at Dollar Tree they have a wooden base and they have them in red and green so I sanded mine a little bit to make the paint adhere a little better and I just gave them both a quick sand with my zipper sander, then I take some black chalk paint and start rubbing it or doing a stippling motion all over the deer covering it by complete, as well as this stand, and I made this stippling effect just because I thought it would be cool.
I have that real metal as well as a more rusty look and once again, I paint both with that black paint. Once my black chalk paint was completely dry, I used this metallic gray folk art paint and grabbed a Dollar Tree. sponge brush and I just break it up so I have a piece of sponge. I dip it into the metallic gray paint and start stippling it all over the deer. I don't cover it completely, but I do give it a nice coat by adding it here and there just like you would see on regular metal.
I guess you could say it's not all one color, it has variations of different colors in the photo on the Etsy website, the stand for the deer was also metal and rusty so I added some of that paint too metallic gray all over the stand and then I take my old wax that's from Walmart and I take another piece of sponge and I start putting it where I feel like rust would be. or where I would like the rust to be and again, just like with the silver paint, I also added some antique wax where I would like the rust to be on the bottom of the base.
I know a super rusty look isn't it. for everyone so I wanted to show you what these look like when just using antique wax and I think this also gives a nice subtle rust look and they turn out beautiful however if you want a really rusty look or at least For a more realistic rust look, I take that aged wax and wherever I put the aged wax before I add a second layer very lightly, more or less in the center where I added the aged wax before so that the color fades. and while the aged wax is still wet, I learned this on YouTube, so thanks YouTube.
I've seen so many different creators do this technique and you're going to take cinnamon like the cinnamon you find in your kitchen and sprinkle it everywhere. your deer, where the old wax is, you can take your finger and just smear it on and spread it out a little bit and I love how this really gives a more rusty look and I know this isn't for everyone and you can also spray a sealant on it, but I think They turned out impressive, it will be fine. Another very popular item on Etsy was wooden Christmas

tree

s, whether large, medium or small.
You can find many different options. I decided I wanted to make a medium size. -sized but I also incorporate some of these smaller details here, like the words and the snowflakes, so for this DIY I'm using these two-by-18-inch wood pieces from Dollar Tree. I picked them up every time I saw them and then I'm also going to cut them starting at 10 inches and working my way up to one. Now I use my little mini saw which I will have linked Below in the description box, these sell out quickly every time I make a video so if you definitely want the salt make sure you get to the description box to check it out now after I narrowed them down out of 10 to one, I decided that the one was a little small, so I got rid of that and then I saved these pieces here for this exact size tree.
I bought four of those 18 inch pieces of wood from Dollar Tree and had some left over on my tree. I wanted to have a softer triangle shape instead of having those hard square ends. so I just take a pen and a ruler and make a mark about a half inch on each piece of wood and then draw a line going from that mark to the bottom corner on both sides. I made my cuts this way because it was easier for me because I'm still new to woodworking, but when you actually cut the pieces to the size you need, you can also cut them with that angle that's already there so you don't have to make the lines and cut them.
After you have them to size, once you have cut all the pieces of wood, you can put them all back in their order and now they have a much smoother triangle shape. Some of the wood pieces are already stained because I had them for quite a while and I was going to use them in a previous project, but I decided not to, so I had them left over and I thought I might as well use them and I was going to stain these pieces anyway, so which I like to use the faux tint technique, which is whatever color paint you would like to use and water mixed together.
I used Apple Barrel burnt top paint as well as some black chalk paint just to darken it and then mixed in some water and you have a faux stain to hold up a tree, I also stained a large paint stirrer bar, once the stain was completely dry, I wanted to give it that shiplap white wood look so I took this nude white chalk paint. I've never used it before, so I figured I've had it for a while, so we might as well use it how I like to create my overlapping wood look: I take a chibi brush, turn it to the side basically like a vertical position, I dip into the paint and start making stripes along the piece ofwood, you can watch me do it right here and then I turn my brush back to the normal horizontal position and I go back and forth across the entire piece of wood blending those points together and you get this beautiful overlapping look.
Now I think the writing on the picture of that little white tree was handwritten, however my handwriting isn't the best so I used my Cricut machine. I cut out all the words that were on that original little tree and added some extra words just because my tree is quite a bit bigger. If you don't have a Cricut and you have good handwriting, you can write it. If you don't have a Cricut either, you can use Dollar Tree sticky letters or any other type of sticky letters you might like. Next step here. I thought it made a big difference.
I simply take the same chippy brush, dip it very lightly in the paint and brush it back and forth on all parts. words and makes him look much more distressed now that it's time to put the tree together. I attach the paint removal stick first, then take the smaller piece to our tree on the top piece and use some Dollar Tree glue. wood glue and a little bit of hot glue and I stick it to the top of the paint stir stick okay I can't help but laugh at this part so now I start taking the other pieces and I start gluing them and no No I know if you have noticed, but something is definitely missing here.
When I took a break, I took the wood pieces out of my craft room and didn't realize that my two year old had gotten hold of the piece of joy, so thinking they were all there, I used my hot glue and started to space them between a quarter inch and a half inch and then I realized, wait a minute, the joy is not there, so I took that top piece. I removed the smallest piece and glued The Joy on there and started gluing the rest of the pieces together while I think of a way to fix that, but all I did was take another piece of paint stirrer stick, cut it up and stained it too. and then I glue it on top of the joy and then I glue it smaller, the smaller piece to our tree, the top piece on the top of that bar to remove paint again if they don't make this mistake, which I highly doubt .
All you have to do is glue them from smallest to largest, about a half inch apart, and pour the base onto my tree. I'm going to use one of these wooden drawers from Dollar Tree that they have cut out. If you can't find them you can use the wooden box that has the wooden top that also has the cut out shape and I am using this burlap that I bought on Amazon. I'll link it below in the description box. I can also use Dollar Tree burlap. They have rolls that will work. You will only need a few more strips.
I actually used burlap for this size. I used three pieces. I also made sure to cut the pieces long enough to fit. down the side of that piece of wood and I also had a little bit left over once I piled it on top and just wrapped it around making sure I had enough and then I'll grab my tree and two Jenga blocks. or falling tower blocks from Dollar Tree and I add a little hot glue to the side of the Jenga block and then glue it to the back of the tree as well as the back of the tree trunk which is the bottom of the paint stripper bar, and I also glued one on. towards the front, so now we can take our box and add a decent amount of hot glue towards the center and then we can press our Jenga blocks down.
Next, I start taking those pieces of burlap and start pulling them up nice and tight. on that square piece wrapping my hand around the paint stir stick right on top of the square box of the cube whatever you want to call it and I just piled it up and kept lifting each of those pieces so that it had This nice group you see at the top and It appears to be placed in a square basket wrapped in burlap. Then I take some of this twine that I bought from a Christmas set, I think, last year, and I tie it to the Paint Stir Stick right above the stick, but I don't tie it very tightly because I decided to add some rocks just to do it. nice and heavy so it stays upright and then I tie that string nice and tight around the painting.
I stir the stick around and tie it into a bow and then I also remove some strands of burlap from the ends just to give it a more frayed look. A sweet subscriber gave me foreign Christmas laser cutouts, but they also have laser cutouts at Dollar Tree that you can use. I know these are from Walmart. I'm not sure about the price because they were a gift, but I do know they are from Walmart and I only grab a few of the different styles. Snowflakes and hot glue on my tree here and there and I think this DIY turned out absolutely stunning.
I longed for this moment to have you to myself. I was thinking how cute these mini wooden gnomes on Etsy are. You only get one for 18, so again. I thought I would make my own for this DIY. I used one of these wooden planks from Dollar Tree. Now this one is a little different than the normal ones because the way the wood was gave it that weird corner down here, so I had to make my triangle a little smaller, but you could make it a little bigger if you have one of the pieces normal wooden ones from Dollar Tree and all I do is take my measuring stick, find the center on one of the sides and then draw a triangle shape again.
I use my small table saw. I think that thing says "think cute" and sometimes I make weird cuts like that because I'm still new to woodworking, but you just take whatever salt or salt you have and cut out your foreign triangle shape once I've cut the triangle out, I take a piece of painter's tape and I place it about halfway down the wooden triangle and then I take my red chalk paint, this is the Folga Imperial color and I color in the color I paint the entire top of the triangle right on top of the painter's tape painter once the top is red.
I like to remove the painter's tape before the paint dries, but once the paint is dry, I take another piece of painter's tape and just line it up. We cover it with our red paint and then I place it right there. Place another piece of painter's tape a little underneath so we can create the pinstripe on the Gnomes hat and I wish I had made my stripe a little bit. bigger, so if you do this the exact same way, definitely make sure the area where you're doing the pinstripe is wider than how I made mine because I end up going back in and making it a little bit wider later and you win.
I don't have to do that step, so I remove the painter's tape again before it dries. Once it's dry, I put down another piece of painter's tape. The last one, I promise, on top of the white and the red so we don't have this beautiful gray. I paint in any of those colors and this gray paint I think folk art calls Parisian gray and I go ahead and paint the entire bottom of our triangle, once I have the bottom painted gray, I remove the painter's tape before let it dry. Just like I did with the other pieces of ribbon, so I'm going to use one of these gnomes from Dollar Tree that I bought this year and all I'm going to do is basically steal his beard.
I'm sorry, gnome, I'm sorry, I'm not sorry, because leave me. I'm telling you these gnomes turn out so cute, it's definitely worth it, so all I do is take my scissors and I start cutting where the gnome's beard is basically sewn to his body and after I cut it I take another pair of scissors because the I had them super dull and I just make the edges a little smoother and not so jagged. I just clean them up a little bit and on each side of the piece of beard that I cut off I cut a little strip of and then I just take the fur and put my thumb up so it never looks like you cut anything off and those pieces that we cut off are the ones that we're going to use for our mustache and I also wanted to clean up the beard a little bit more so I fold these ends down and this also helps it not be as long so I just fold down the top piece.
I just add a little hot glue and fold it down. with your finger before gluing the beard. I want to put on the mustache, so I take those pieces of beard that I cut off and just remove the excess hair that's coming off and shorten it a little bit. with my scissors and I take some hot glue and I just stick it right where the top center of the beard is so it looks like it's coming out the side and I do the exact same thing with the other piece of beard that we cut off. Gluing it to the other side to make it look like the other side of the mustache and I think this is so adorable to attach the beard to the mustache.
I use my hot glue and just put a decent amount right in the center of our triangle where our beard goes and put mine a little bit below where I needed it. If you want to put it right where the end of your white stripe is or whatever color you have, I placed mine a little bit down because again I do that. I want to make that pinstripe a little bigger, so before I do that I went in with my zip sander. I'll have this linked Below in the description box and start to give it some distress, just like the Gnomes in the picture were distressed.
I like it, this is where I take the piece of painter's tape and just make the pinstripe on the Gnomes hat a little bigger than it already is, plus when I was sanding the red paint the stripe looked pink, so I refreshed it. up and also made the stripe look bigger by placing the painter's tape down and adding some fresh white paint for my gnome's nose. I really like the natural wood look, but I don't like the holes in the side, so I just fill it with some

dollar

. Tree putty and then I glue it right in the center of where the mustache is on our gnome beard.
Now you can leave it like this and lean it against something, but I wanted mine to stand up on its own, so I taped a little

dollar

. The tree tower blocks fall from one end to the other and then I glue them to the back of my gnome so it stands up on its own and you guys look how stinky and adorable it turned out, unfortunately I lost some pictures of myself adding that tape gold, but like You can see I just added some gold ribbon directly to our gnomes hat and oh I'm so obsessed with it and I definitely can't wait to make some miniature ones for my beloved tray.
It's safe to say that macrame for Christmas is super popular this year. I'm seeing it everywhere, not just on Etsy, and I fell in love with these macrame framed trees, so I'm using this frame from Dollar Tree. These frames are great for many different things. I love the size and I also love the fact that it has the little tabs on the back that you just remove and you can remove the back of the frame. I also remove the hanger to hang the frame on the wall and use my zipper sander to sand it. so it's smooth, then I turn it over to the back and I remove those flowers because I'm going to use this as the back and I sand it.
You can also paint the back if you want. I'm going to use the back as our new front and I just take my white chalk paint and I'm going to paint the entire board so it has a full coat. I only do one layer because I like the color it was. showing through white chalk paint, you can paint it completely white if you want for the tassels on my tree. I'm using this really pretty green yarn from Dollar Tree. They have many different styles and colors to choose from. So I'm going to use a wooden cube from Dollar Tree and start wrapping my yarn around it at least 10 or 15 times and then once I've wrapped it as many times as I want, all I'm going to do is slide the yarn around. out of the square and I'm going to try to keep it in that circle shape while I cut off the excess again and still keep it in that circle.
You will take another piece of thread and place it across the circle. Gathering it at the top and tying it. in a knot once the knot is tied at the top you can cut off the excess then I like to take my finger and still put it through that circle and take another piece of twine and wrap it around my finger so that when I tied it in the knot and slid my finger out of the way. I'll have that perfect ball on top. How tassels usually look strange. With the top of the tassel ready, I trim off the excess once more and then take my scissors and cut off those loops. all separated and I also take my scissors and I just straighten them out on the bottom so they look nice and even once the bottom pieces are even, they have this cute little tassel and I'm not going to put you through that. but I ended up making six of those.
I grabbed the backing of the frame as well as my tassels and I'm going to start with three tassels for the bottom of the tree and I just take the tassels placing them next to each other and I add a little bit of hot glue and glue them together that way you could glue them directly individually onto the frame or backing but I thought it was a little easier to place them in their groups and then glue them into their slots if that makes sense if not hope this helps see nowwho are in their groups. I can take each group and place it where I would like to add the hot glue to the back of the frame and then glue my tassels. then take the next group and place it where I would like it, making sure everything looks correct before gluing it.
I like to do that a lot when I craft and I just use three, then two, then one and I glue them on top of each other in our bag once I have them all glued together. I already loved how the tree turned out it was so simple to make and then all I do is put it back on the frame placing the backing on the frame pushing those metal tabs down and I do this before adding the tree trunk alone because I wanted to make sure everything would fit and for the trunk of the tree I just used a little piece of stick from my garden and hot glued it on. it was right below the pieces of thread at the bottom and how adorable is this on the Etsy website.
It was that price for just one of them, so that's how it turned out strange. I found these beautiful stick trees with this golden glow and I just knew. I had to make some, so I grabbed some cardstock from Dollar Tree. It doesn't matter what color you are using, you can use any color. I folded mine in half and then I'm going to start cutting it in the center because I do want to. Make two different sized trees and I'm going to start placing this cardstock into a cone and I'm just going to start wrapping it around a corner and forming that cone shape if you haven't made the cones before it's pretty easy and if you don't get it the first time, Just unravel the cardstock and try again once you have the cone shape you like, just hot glue it in place and cut off the excess.
Now these cones are going to stand up super original and to solve that problem you want to crush it, flatten it completely and cut it straight and then you want to rotate it 180 degrees and cut it again straight after flattening it and put it back in that circle. shape, I just start folding it and making a crease between each of those folds that I made when flattening it. You can also continue cutting it until you have the cone completely straight at the bottom and it stands up. I made two of those cones. As you can see, I then went out into my yard and grabbed a bunch of sticks and then using my miter shears, I started cutting a bunch of sticks into small pieces of about one inch to two inches, and even half an inch.
You'll need to cut quite a few pieces off of those sticks, but once you've cut a bunch off, you'll want to start taking them and hot gluing them around the cone. You are not gluing the sticks to the cone itself, you are just gluing the sticks. each other around the cone shape. I start by forming a circle down at the bottom of the cone, then I need to start going up so I need to start getting some height so I just take two pieces of stick and try to kind of form a triangle with it but no bottom and I glue it to that circle on the sticks that are at the bottom of the cone and I make some of those going around and you can work on adding sticks leaning against those. and then you know, taking a stick and putting it in the place where you connect one side, one stick to another, you're just going to keep putting them in filling in the spaces and connecting all the sticks as much as you can, honestly, it's probably easier to just watch than have someone explain it to you because it really is super easy.
All you are doing is covering the cone with sticks but not gluing the sticks to the cone, you are gluing the sticks together and working your way up as you go. Now, the original trees on Etsy had this golden glow and while I was making them, I really fell in love with the natural rustic look of these trees and just the natural wood, so I kept going until I got to the top. and then once you have all the sticks placed you can simply reach under the bottom and pull out the cone. Here's a quick little tip.
A DIY like this will probably have a lot of strands of hot glue if you heat it up. gun or even a hair dryer will make those strands of glue disappear right before your eyes. I also made a bigger one and put some fairy lights inside them and they turned out so beautiful, okay how absolutely gorgeous is this piece of Christmas

decor

. etsy I had to recreate it and I knew exactly how, so I'm going to start with some tower blocks from Dollar Tree and use Super Glue wood glue, as well as some hot glue, and glue two of those tower blocks together.
To finish off and I do that one more time with two more pieces, then you're going to take the two sets of falling tower blocks and glue them together in a T shape now to turn it from a tea into a cross. You are going to take one more tower block and place it in the center, above the tee. Now I want my cross to be thicker, so to do that I take more tower blocks and start gluing them together. top of the original cross, basically, we make two crosses and glue them together and that makes it as thick as we will need it.
Now I have a nice thick wooden cross that will also be the T in my word Christmas for the other letter blocks. a Dollar Tree carries these thicker pieces of wood and I place it right under where the tea is and I mark it so I can cut two of them because those are the S and the m in our word Christmas and you need them to be the biggest and to to make those cuts I use my little mini table saw again, it will always be linked below whenever I use it in a video. I make the S and M cut and then grab a few more pieces of those Dollar wood pieces.
Tree and I make the other letters by simply making them different sizes smaller than the first two, which are S and m. Well, that sounded a little confusing, you're basically making the S and M cut, which are the larger letters. blocks and then all the other letter blocks that you can make smaller than that and in different sizes, you can see at the bottom of the screen what I mean. I just have a bunch of different sized blocks and the S and M are the biggest so Now I'm grabbing my faux stain that I like to use which is the Apple Barrel burnt umber shade with a little bit of black chalk paint mixed in with a little bit of water just to darken the dye a little bit and I go ahead and start dyeing.
All those pieces of wood as well as the foreign cross were stained and the stain was dry. I used my Cricut machine to cut out the word Christmas except tea and began placing each of the letters in the center of each one. of the blocks and as you can see while I was in the qriket design space, I made each of the letters shorter or taller depending on how big their black was, basically depending on how big the piece of wood was, so great it was. I made the letters and since they are all different sizes I also made the letters different sizes because that is exactly how it was in the picture, once I had all the letters glued to the pieces of wood I took my white chalk paint and just How to do intense and dry brushing on the entire piece of wood.
I left the top blank because once you remove the sticky letters or vinyl letters you can see the really nice color of the wood and the top makes it pop, I think a little more. but unfortunately I mess up and get something on the top of one, so I thought I'd go ahead and start painting the top and giving it that worn white look, but what I do is I paint over the sticky letters. and again, that will make it so that once you reveal the decal junk and remove it, the wood will show through. I like to take my Cricut tool or even a pair of tweezers and grab the sticky letter or vinyl letter and peel it off before the paint dries now because I use that plain chalk paint and it's really not the best, at least in my opinion , I go over it very quickly on each block before removing the letter with a quick coat of that white chalk paint to make it stay. a little bit I guess more covered than it was originally and seriously look how beautiful it looks with that color of wood peeking through the letter repeat those steps with the rest of the letter blocks then you are going to spell the word Christmas by putting the letters in the position they go in and this DIY is done, I think this DIY is beautiful and very meaningful too and it also looks amazing next to our larger church that we made in the previous video, as I mentioned earlier, the video of today is part of the During the Christmas Playlist, this playlist has four weeks, three or four creators for each week and each creator will have a secret giveaway question in their video.
If you answer all the questions in the creator giveaway for that week, you could win a $60 Amazon gift card and the following week, you can go and watch those creators answer your questions and also have a chance to win that gift card so you have multiple chances to win and also, if you want to pause the screen and read this information, it may be something I'm missing, but here is all the information you will need. I want to mention that since you will be answering the Creator's question in your comments section, these scammers have been trying to catch everyone lately and they just don't do it. anything, if you see something like this, we will never ask you to send us a telegram, so if you see something like this that says you won, I'm so sorry, but it's a scam, the only person who will tell you if you won is Brandy del DIY Fight is what their channel looks like and also all the other amazing creators involved.
Brandy from DIY Fight will contact the winner through her comments on December 1st. You have until November 30 to answer all the questions and I will wait for you. everyone enjoys the playlist. Gnomes are always a big hit during the Christmas season and I adore these greenery Christmas gnomes so I wanted to try making my own. I love all the different styles Etsy has to choose from, but Liz Moore from The Lismore Decal at Court here on YouTube also created some gnomes that I thought were really adorable, so I'm going to incorporate a bit of that style too, such like we did with our stick trees.
Cardstock from Dollar Tree and shape it into a cone and once you have the size of cone you would like, keep in mind how tall your gnome will be and then just glue it in place and cut off the excess now. flatten it just like we did before, you want to flatten the cone completely, cut it at the bottom, as straight as you can and then turn it to the side, flatten it again and cut it as straight as you can and that will definitely help keep its bottom round for so that its cone is straight up and again so that my cone has that circle shape again.
I simply make a fold between each of the original folds from where we folded. I repeated the same steps with another cardstock from Dollar Tree. This time I will make it smaller and smaller, it doesn't really matter what color the cardstock is because it will be mostly covered anyway. I'm going to start with a larger gnome and I found these snowy green ones from Dollar Tree, there are two separate types. and I love them, they're one of my favorite picks that I found recently and as you can see they're grouped together like a set here and a set here and there's like a space in the center so what I did was I took two of them and I overlapped so that each space was covered, so again I basically took two pieces of greenery and overlapped them so that the spaces were filled with each of the pieces of greenery.
I repeated this step using two pieces. of vegetation, each one forms three packages in total. Now I take each bundle of greenery and start hot gluing it to our cone, except where I make sure the greenery just barely touches the bottom and meets the bottom of our cone. I continue to place the greenery where I would like it once I have it in place and it is low enough. I start hot gluing it in place and do it with all three sets. Look once I had all the green pigs glued together that I used. One more Greenery selection in the same style and I simply took out the individual pieces and started hot gluing them together, making sure to fill in any holes or places where any of the cardstock can be seen and with all the greenery pieces glued together.
You have this beautiful full Greenery beard and I find it so sophisticated. I really love how natural they look for my gnomes hat. I'm using this placemat from Dollar Tree, it has buffalo plaid on one side and then it has a black border. fabric on the other and you can take the two pieces of fabric and start pulling them apart to have more of a pillowcase it's just two pieces of fabric sewn together and on one end you're going to want to take a pair of scissors and I just make a hole just enough big enough to slide over the cone.
Now that the hole is cut, I take the cone and place it right inside the hole in the placemat and pull the placemat down to where I would like to put my nose hat. To start using my hot glue gun, I start adding a little bit of hot glue to the bottom corner pieces of the fabric and just start wrapping it as much as I can around the cone and hot gluing it wherever I can. Add some hot glue so we can keep the fabric oncone shape and then at the top I make sure the cone touches the top of the placemat while pushing the placemat down and then I start folding. on the fabric again trying to keep that cone shape and once I like how it looks I just go ahead and start hot gluing the fabric.
I think now is the perfect time for our giveaway question and the question is what do you like to do most? Next Christmas Day I want to create a brim for my gnomes hat and I love the burlap and buffalo plaid together but the burlap ribbon I have is a little too wide so I just add a little hot glue to the center and I fold it once. to the center add a little more hot glue and fold it again on the other side and you will have a thinner and not so transparent piece of burlap.
I want to mention that if you look here on the screen, Dollar Tree carries these rolls of Burlap, this will work too, but I just wanted to use the same burlap that I used on the other gnome, that's why I used this burlap. I made sure the piece of burlap completely surrounded the gnome and then cut off the excess, wrapped it around the Gnomes hat right where it starts and then wrapped it back and hot glued it in place. At Dollar Tree they have this wired Jude and honestly you could probably use regular jute twine for this too.
Personally, I like the wiring because you can loosen the loops. You'll see what I mean here, in just a second I stick it on the back of the gnome and then I start to see how it already has those circles. Well, after I'm spiraling, I just start wrapping those circles around my gnomes hat as I go up. I don't necessarily have the jute twine touching the gnomes hat, but it wraps around it, goes up to the top and gets smaller I guess. As you go, I cut the jute with extra wire and then hot glue it into place up here on the top of the hat.
Foreign Christmas decorations from Dollar Tree, except I just take my white sports paint and give it two coats of this. chalk paint covering it completely making sure it's all white, once the ornament paint is completely dry I add a decent amount of hot glue and then I just stick it right where I would like my gnome's nose to be and also make sure to so that it is slightly below the brim of the hat. Take my glue gun and add some hot glue to glue the hat brim and nose together with the larger gnome. Now I can start with the smallest gnome and I'm using these Fern picks from Dollar Tree. really frosted and they are really nice for this gnome because these picks are much more complete.
I only needed four instead of six, but I put them in groups of two just like I did with the first gnome now that I have my two groups of Greenery. I take one of them and do this a little differently than what I did with the first gnome. I glue one in making sure it's a little long and you can do that. Go a little further than the cone because these Greenery pieces bend and are very light so they don't need to flow to the floor if you understand what I'm saying, instead of gluing the second piece next to the first like I did in the first one. gnome, I actually glued it right on top, just like we did our greenery groupings, for some reason the stems of these spikes were sticking out a lot and I needed them to be more flush with the cone, so I just added a little. a little bit of hot glue where the stems need to go and then I just add some Dew twine to secure it in place and I end up leaving it on because we covered it with this burlap which again I will have linked Below in the description box for you guys to check out before begin wrapping the Gnomes hat.
I cut a piece that I will need later for the wing. Now I'm going to take the burlap and place my cone right on top of it, like I put it where. I want the hat to start and you want to make sure everything is out of the way and where you would like it to be and I take the burlap and I start wrapping it around the front of the cone because I want the seam to be there. on the back and I'm still trying to make sure it stays in a cone shape as you pull it down and then once you have it in the position you want you can add a little bit of hot glue to the burlap. the back and then I hot glue the burlap and then I just cut off the excess so I can have a little more control over where I start placing the burlap next and as you can see I just glued the burlap to the burlap. and I also made it pretty loose so I can make sure I place the burlap over the greenery where I want the hat to start, then I just turn it over and hot glue it in place.
Then I take that roll of burlap and get started. Wrapping the cone once again, I fold it because you can see through the burlap, so I want this to have that oversized, droopy look as well. I really loved that look when Liz made hers, so I'm just going to add a little hot glue here and there on the cone and then glue the fabric to it after bunching it here and there. I do this in a few different places. I'll also take the fabric or burlap and heat it up. glue it down and just pinch it here and there just to give it some wrinkles and a little bit more texture.
I just keep doing these steps over and over until I wrap the entire cone, which doesn't take long. I want to make sure that as you wrap it, you get tighter and smaller as you go so that you still maintain that cone shape once the Gnomes hat got to the point that I like. I simply took my hot glue gun, hot glued the burlap and then used my scissors to cut off the excess Now I take the piece of burlap I cut earlier for the brim of the hat and make a wing for it just like I did for the gnome above , however, unlike the verse gnome, I did not glue the Burma that I had on right before making the Dollar Tree Gnomes nose has different sizes, if you want to use a different size, they are smaller than these and larger.
I didn't paint this one, I loved that red color and then once I was, once I glued the Gnomes nose where I would like it, I took the brim of the hat and placed it on the cone where I would like the brim of the hat to be , making sure it overlaps the Gnomes nose a bit. I flip it over to the back and hot glue it in place. I forgot to mention this when I showed off the silicone spatulas earlier, but I'll have them linked below in the description box. They are awesome to use when working with burlap so you don't burn your fingers and again to make sure the Gnome's nose stays in place I also secure it to the berm of the hat.
Next, I use this red berry garland from Dollar Tree. They have other colors you can choose from. just add a little bit of hot glue on the end of the Garland glue stick it to the bottom of my gnomes hat and then I start wrapping it going up my gnomes hat but as I wrap it I make it a little loose like I did with the I attached Jude once I have the paper garland how I would like I cut off the excess and added a little hot glue to the top and I just glued it to the top behind the Gnomes hat, you want to talk about something that you can put on your booth and sell them, these are so adorable because all I want to do is spend this holiday with you tomorrow, it's the first Christmas for me and I really hope you all enjoyed these DIYs as much as I enjoyed sharing them with you.
I will have a link. Below in my playlist description box and don't forget to answer their questions so you can win the giveaway prize. Hope to see you all and some new friends next time, bye.
