Hello everyone, welcome to cave

paint

ing 101. I'm diving in and I'll start here and we're working on a fun outdoor Christmas

tree

. We are a decorated

tree

. This type of tree is more

natural

looking than some of the graphic style trees we've done before and today we'll be using all the extra fine tip Posca pens because earlier I noticed it was bouncing back and forth between a lot of different sizes and if you don't have all the different sizes, you know you might not be ready to buy all the different sizes to do this, so I'm going to try to stick to one size at a time, so we're going to start by giving you a little trunk here and Go and share this in our Facebook group if you join the live broadcast.

ing tutorials, so if you take photos of

rock

s yourself, create them image by image or if you make videos, it's a great place to share them or for more inspiration, so we'll start from the top and work our way up.

More Interesting Facts About,

how to paint a natural christmas tree rock painting idea for beginners rock painting 101...

On each side we are going to create some branches inside our tree. It's all about layering when you're doing really

natural

things. If you don't have those layers underneath, it won't look really realistic and some of them will even show up. It's pretty simple, you can work your way out, there are a lot of small branches inside those trees, okay? Another thing that makes things look a little more natural is having some shadows in there, so I'll show you those up here. I just have a paper towel and I moisten it with a little bit of water and you can do this in your kitchen, but I have a little pipette and a little bit of water here, just enough that it's easy to add a little bit of water.

The brush has a little shine in there, some light comes in and I just have a cheap brush, it doesn't even have a label on it. Hi Monica, thank you for joining us today. Washington, you're on the other coast. I'm on the east coast and I'm glad you enjoy the videos, so we're going to dampen this brush a little bit to get it wet and I'm going to add a couple of little black stripes. in the middle of our trunk and this is going to give us a different layer of brown underneath because the bark is rarely going to be one color like this so we're just going to take some lighter water here and we're just going to type that trunk and I kind of blend it together. that black one down and I see how I just pull it down, spread it out to get a little bit more texture, you can pull it out, call your limbs if you want, like that, I'm barely touching the rock. with this really touching, but look how that instantly gives it a little bit more depth and dimension and you just wipe your brush right to the side and we're going to come in here and start adding our branches, so I'm just going to use the package that comes with a couple of different greens, but this is the darkest green and again, these are the extra fine tips.

However, you can do this with the larger ones just as easily and we'll start from the top and We'll work our way up here, in fact, we'll start from the bottom and work our way up. Excuse me, because if you think about which way the branches are going to be layered, they're always going to bend over the ones underneath, so I just want to think about that when you're

painting

and just start at the edges and just barely touch and scrape these little branches that you created. and you could even have a branch coming out in the front you need branches along the front of your tree just tap and pause and always back away because then you're going to pull out the smallest part of your tips so you don't want to pull in, you want to pull out because That's how the little pine needles would go.
You slowly climb your tree. Just think of the shape of a tree. I don't know if there are pine trees where you live. I'm Christine, you said you had your rocks out and you're ready to make Christmas trees, well you can do it with me like I do or start when we're done and like I said above be sure to come back and share photos of your finished trees in the comments. If you don't make this type of Christmas tree, if you have some fun Christmas trees, go ahead and share them too. I always like to see what people are doing and it's easy to get inspired when sometimes I just have to see it, maybe all the help you give with that tippy-top just comes here and fills it in, but look how you can still see through that trunk and those limbs there make it look a lot more realistic because you can see.
For the trunk inside a real Christmas tree, you need to get some Christina pens. I know these are a lifesaver and for multiple reasons I like the precision you get with them, but I also like the fact that, look, I just put the cap on and put it on. I don't have a drop of green paint on my plate that I have to rinse and put away. I don't have to worry about wasting so much paint. If you want to add a little bit of snow to yours, there's a video that I did a while ago, maybe why add a little bit of snow to the tip of some of these after we put some of our ornaments up here.
I may have one of the rocks. I don't think it's around here, but if you scroll down you'll see. We did some pine trees that were covered in snow. I think last week was maybe a week and a half ago. I haven't posted in a while. My children have been sick. We've all been fighting the colds that are going to happen. hanging around so I haven't posted in a few days so it might not be like two weeks ago but or you can just click on the little videos tab and scroll through. We made a really nice snow colored one, so you'll find It's Christine, a lot of people did that and came back and shared their photos and they're just beautiful, so we're going to come in here and start adding ornaments and just like I do when I put ornaments on my tree Real, I find little places where I think they fit and you can do the same.
You can hang them further away from the branches. Make sure you have some that are in the middle of your tree too and if you want you can add a star. the top I'm going to add a star to the top of my tree because I always had one growing up and since I'm working on a black rock, two coats of yellow might be necessary on the top here I'm part of my sobs. Guys, like I said, we've all been fighting colds around here, so I'm going to stick with a few different colors, just like I did in this first one.
I have a blue, a yellow and a red just to add a little bit. a little bit of color on the tree, just a few here and there, I mean, one even snuck up on that ledge Sandy said she just ordered the fourth step of it, bless. Look, I agree that they are and you know what the link that I left above if I'm joining is one that's just for fine tips because today I'm only using fine tips. It is a pack of 21 fine tips and I wish I had seen that before ordering. I ordered a multi which I'm I'm still happy because I use all my different sizes quite a bit, but the multi pack of fine tips up there is in pastel colors and it's got the silver and the gold, you know, so you're trying to get a little bit. a little bit of everything and I use these fine tips probably more than anything else because now you can do more with them if you're coloring a large space.
Yes, sometimes it's better to go in and use a bigger one so you don't use it all up. your paint on these fine tips, but I can't have enough either, so we have our little dots all over our tree and you can leave them like that if you want if you don't have any of the metallic ones. but I have gold and silver, so I like to go through and create almost like a little hook to attach it to if you don't have this and just make sure you put your ornaments where they're not. floating in space look how I have this red one like floating in space so you wouldn't do that if you're not going to go in and add some kind of hook or accessory you know something to connect it to the tree just go through a little hole here we go , you think I have them all and if you want to go back with your green and add a little line of grass so it's not just floating in the middle of the space, that's just as simple as that.
We did this. It will actually be easier to turn it over because you want to lift the grass so the blades end up at the tip and you can just go one direction and then come back. In another way, I mean the grass never grows perfect, maybe you have perfect grass, we definitely don't have perfect grass where I live, it's kind of a back and forth just to give you some kind of soil and you can give it a little bit of a back. and from now on, here we go and we'll stop right there with Debbie in her hearse for Christmas, what a great Christmas present for you, Debbie, you're going to love them, so here we go, here we go, we've got our big tree on our little tree , so we're going to let them dry really good and then we're going to give them a nice clear coat and we're going to put these guys out there for someone to find, so thanks for joining me today.
