Now let's serve more about Mickey D's. The McRib is not really ribs… Are you tempted by the McRib? You might think you know what's really going on between the buns, spicy ribs, pickles and onions. What you need to know is that there are actually no ribs in this sandwich! False advertising? We would say! Fake ribs are a pork mixture that is pressed into a rib-shaped mold. The pork burger is made with 45 ingredients including a mixture of pig intestines, heart, stomach, water, lots of salt and sugar. The sauce is made with 3 types of sugar including high fructose corn syrup with a total of 18 ingredients and the bun is made with 17 ingredients.

In total, 80 ingredients are needed to create this sweet, salty and very fattening sandwich. The McRib is also one of the saltiest dishes on the menu and this is due to the process of forming the false ribs. They use a lot of salt to help extract proteins which are then used to bind the meat trimmings together into a rib shape. Needless to say, it takes a lot of salt to achieve this and one of these sandwiches will provide you with 36% of your daily salt intake. I guess Mickey D's doesn't agree that less is more. Your McDonald's drink may contain fecal matter.
Surely having an ice cold drink with your meal seems harmless. I mean, other than the fact that we know soda is high in sugar, there are no secrets...or are there? In 2017, the BBC's consumer watchdog carried out a series of random tests at three fast food chains across the UK for faecal coliforms. What they found wasn't exactly what you want to hear. 3 out of 10 McDonald's drinks tested positive for fecal contamination in the ice! This would mean that around 30% of the ice in your McDonald's drink could contain fecal elements. What's worse is that Burger King and KFC tested positive and even greater traces of fecal contamination were found in their drinks!
They found that 6 of their BK samples and 7 KFC samples had fecal contamination. Oh! Fecal coliforms are found in human and animal feces and can cause various diseases. Are you sure you still want to increase the size of your drink? McDonald's staff are underpaid and being replaced. McD's employs over 1.8 million people! That's the second-highest number of people employed by a private employer after Walmart. Let's be honest though: the staff don't like it, they are overworked and underpaid, and can barely earn a living wage. Which means that their salaries are barely enough to pay rent, food and have anything left over.
We know that most fast food chains pay their workers minimum wage, but McDonald's staff constantly fight for pay increases because they are notoriously low. The average employee would have to work 7-10 months to earn what the CEO makes in an hour! Not only that, but with the rise of technology, their jobs are starting to be replaced by touch screens. You may have already noticed these touch screens if you've been inside Mickey D's to place orders. Because? Well because they work for free! Before you know it, McDonald's employee numbers may drop dramatically and you may have a computerized machine asking you if you want fries with that.
McDonald's CEO said the plan is to "make it easier for customers to order and pay for food digitally and give people the ability to personalize their orders," but will this make things easier for the economy? Next time you order on a touch screen, be sure to wash your hands before your food is ready. Although these screens are said to be cleaned frequently throughout the day, studies have found several different bacteria present on these screens, but most of them are harmless. At least we know there will be a position available as a touch screen cleaner. McDonald's produces a lot of food waste.
Thousands of hamburgers are thrown away every day. Hundreds of hamburgers are thrown away approximately every 10 minutes. French fries have also been highlighted as a problematic item due to excessive waste. McDonald's fries have a limit of 7 minutes on how long they can sit before being thrown away and new ones made. While this is good news for customers who know they are getting fresh fries, it is bad news when it comes to concerns about world hunger. If they sell around 9 million pounds of French fries a day worldwide, you can only imagine how much is wasted. Everything in the kitchen has a timer and when the timer goes off it means the shelf life has expired and the food is thrown in the trash.
McDonald's feeds about 1% of the world's population daily, but about 12% of the world's population suffers from hunger at the same time. How many more people could they feed if so much food wasn't wasted? McDonald's main ingredients are not that tasty. Who loves a side dish of chemicals? McD's food is full of chemicals and additives. Are you thinking about having scrambled eggs for breakfast? Think again, they contain monosodium phosphate, sodium hydrogen pyrophosphate, citric acid and nisin preparation. Are you sure you want to break your fast with that? Salads are sprinkled with propylene glycol to keep them crisp and fresh;
This product is also used in its sauces, glazes and pancakes. Propylene glycol is a less toxic version of the ethylene glycol found in antifreeze. Sound appetizing? A common additive used in your foods is calcium silicate, which is a white powder primarily used to prevent cement and tiles from caking. And what about chicken nuggets? There was a time when they barely had chicken, but they did have many other ingredients that we could barely pronounce. Less than half of a chicken nugget was actually chicken and the rest was a combination of preservatives like TBHQ. It is a chemical substance that they use on the seeds to preserve them in an unnatural way and give them a fresh flavor.
Can you imagine Gordon Ramsay making these discoveries in Mickey D's kitchen? It would be entertaining to watch, but we can only imagine the boiling point of his anger. TBHQ has been shown to be unsafe to consume and has side effects such as vision loss and liver failure, so try not to eat too much. Let's take a look at one more, azodicarbonamide, an odorless synthetic chemical used in McDonald's bagels as a flour whitening agent. Not only is it difficult to pronounce, but it is often used in the production of foamed plastics. Now we want to ask you, would you like fries with that?
McDonald's food does not spoil. If it doesn't break down, is it real food? With the use of many chemicals, high levels of preservatives and fats, your food is likely to look the same for years to come - that is if you choose to preserve it. Many tests have been done on McDonald's meals to see if they spoil or develop mold. Tests have shown that food at Golden Arches restaurants does not go moldy. Everyone asks: why?! Well, for starters, food is very fatty and high fat means low moisture, so with little to no moisture, mold cannot grow.
So when chicken nuggets, burgers, or fries are left out, they dry out completely. Within a few days of being left out, all the remaining moisture in your burger has evaporated, leaving you with a sort of... strange beef jerky burger. Beef jerky makes sense, but it's been a mystery why the buns don't go moldy. This is a little worrying when we think about putting this food in our body. McD’s “healthy” menu isn’t really healthy. Looking for a healthy option? You better make yourself a salad at home! Do you want to control your calorie, sugar and salt intake when you eat at McDonald's?
Then listen to us and go for the burger. Hamburgers have less fat and calories than salads! And when we talk about fat at McDonald's, we're not talking about good fats like avocados and nuts, but rather bad fats like saturated and trans fats. These bad fats are linked to increased bad cholesterol, high blood pressure, and more. Bacon Ranch Salad with Crispy Chicken has almost 500 calories and 28 grams of fat, of which 51% comes from fat. Compare that to a double cheeseburger which has 430 calories and 21 grams of fat. Why are salads so McFatty? It all comes down to salad dressings, croutons, and crunchy, high-fat meats.
But let's not forget that vegetables are also coated in chemicals. Does it seem healthy to you? Fast food and healthy food are two different categories. McDonald's does not make healthy foods because it would cost them much more and they would earn less, so profitability would be low. Over the years we as a society have become more health conscious and McDonald's has tried to adapt by offering these healthy, but actually not so healthy options. What about yogurt parfait? It seems like it has to be healthy, but it's quite the opposite. If you want to put your system through a sugar rush, this menu item will do it.
It has 22 grams of sugar and is basically a sugar mine full of calcium. A McCafe shake is a questionable sugar bomb. Jokes about smoothie and ice cream machines always out of order are not far away. McDonald's employees have confirmed that the reliability of these machines is questionable. Not only do they break down all the time, but repairs sometimes leave the machine out of service for a day or more. We wonder if this has something to do with how infrequently the machines are cleaned. Employees have also admitted that the machines are only cleaned about once a week.
Let's also mention that a Mickey D's McCafe shake is a mix of vanilla ice cream and shake syrup (the main ingredient is high fructose corn syrup) and then topped with whipped cream and a sugared maraschino cherry. A small 12-ounce McCafe vanilla shake has, drum roll, 59 grams of sugars! And if you took a large 22 ounce one, you'd be looking at 99 GRAMS OF SUGAR. But wait, if you like strawberry flavored shake, the large one has even more sugar than the vanilla one at 115 grams! Strawberry smoothie contains about 50 chemicals that are used to imitate the flavors of strawberries. With all this information we think you should get rid of this!
McDonald's is the LARGEST toy distributor in the world When you think of toy distributors, do you automatically think of Amazon, Walmart or Toys R Us before their financial problems? Most people do, but the largest toy distributor in the world is none other than McDonald's! All the little toys included in the happy meals add up. On average, about 20% of McDonald's sales are happy meals that include some type of toy. With 68 million meals sold daily, that's a lot of toys: around 13.6 million toys perday. No other toy distributor comes close to that! Did you know that this is a powerful tool that McDonald's uses to promote the fast food chain to children?
And McDonald's has been serving happy meals since 1979! They have surely hooked many children for so many years. Most children under the age of 8 do not have the cognitive skills or developmental maturity to understand the persuasive intent of the marketing and advertising of these happy foods. Researchers say fast food chains do this to develop dependency and trust at a young age, and the toys are a form of direct advertising to children. There have been several lawsuits in the United States and Canada against them for advertising aimed at children, especially because they link them to popular children's films.
By creating an emotional bond with children, they find the key to making them come back and associate happy meals with good memories of their childhood. Clever and evil if you think about it, considering how unhealthy and full of additives a happy meal is. The only happy thing is the toy.
