Alesis Strata Prime!

May 22, 2024
Alright guys, we've got it in these boxes. We have the new Elisis Strata Prime electronic drum kit that came out last week. The price is $3,499. It's a 10 piece mesh kit and apparently it's 22 times better than the Strike Pro. Let's get started and open up some boxes, yes, good looking box, here's the back. Hardware, whatever's here, feels very sturdy, even this wing nut is kind of a little red swirl of hard metal here too. Wow, 14 inches in diameter and This is a dual zone pad, so we'll get regular hits in the center, then we'll get the stick clicks and also the rim shots, number two side snare, a drum pad of 12 inches, this will be one of the toms and, like the snare, these toms are dual zone pads, so we will be able to activate multiple sounds with them.

It's cool, we also have a 10 inch tom, wow, another 14 inch pad, this will be our floor tom and a little 8 inch pad for the treble. Oh boy, come on little one, come on, I insist on being here when that bone, oh, would you look? He's just a baby. I love that the drums are different sizes, in my opinion that makes the playing experience much better, as far as elysis goes. 22 extra points for that, let's take a look at the symbols, then we get two 16 inch crashes ooh, I don't know how well you can see this on camera, but it's got tiny little ridges there, it looks good, let's flip it over .

More Interesting Facts About,

These are the orc symbols and apparently they are 360° symbols, so you can hit or choke anywhere on the pad and you will get a sound. I love the sound effects when opening things. There are also three playable zones here, so we'll get sounds. for the brim, the bow and the hood that you like here is the ride symbol 18 inch ride oh yeah Dad likes the big top hat active 14 inch active well well well what else is in here? Although he comes with his own top hat, yeah, oh, I see. there is a magnetic position sensor here I guess this will be a pretty accurate top hat, how about the next module? the trigger inputs on the bottom and it looks like there is room for three additional inputs than the ones that come with the kit that way you can expand things here there are two main XLR outputs assignable outputs auxiliary input SD card I wonder if that means we can charge our own five pin USB and midi sounds and apparently this runs on a multi-core processor so apparently it's like a computer with VST software, that's awesome but we'll get into this further once we get everything hooked up nicely, we also have this box very heavy steel drum frame that we're going to need to assemble, yeah, here's one of the legs, let's take a closer look at these clamps, uh, yeah, the wing nuts are pretty sturdy and pretty solid, right? what do we have here?

Set of kit accessories. guide, we will need that cable for a drum key and here is the big bag of cables that will connect the pads to the module, the snare stand, very easy, oh my god, I almost forgot about the kick drum, I left it up, man, look this. handles and the color of the shell oh my gosh that's so cute and I'm assuming this whole area is the hitting zone for the kick, plenty of room for a double pedal and sex now let's set up the stand and what's really cool of this system is that you don't have to configure it exactly as shown in the manual, instead of making two ROMs and two floms, I'm going to make three racks and one florom, so let's see if I can figure it out and do it.

CPP Happened Damn, where did I put the key? Who is taking the key? What key? That key. Who is taking the key? Damn, okay. I just realized I'm already up because I'm pretty sure I'm going to put the 8 on Tom. on this bar here and it's too low, so I need to turn them up a lot more or do something else, so let's see that they even have different tones and different feels, okay, I think this will work, let's connect everything in a 1. 2 3 and oh, we're ready. Can we turn on the module? Ooh, the knobs are lit up, so the first thing is to calibrate the top hat, so go to edit trigger, go to press select, press the top hat now. let's go to the top hat setup uh let's calibrate your top hat loosen the clutch and let the top hat symbol rest freely on the controller okay it's loose now we hit set up we return the top hat symbol to position desired open and we press the clutch, then we press finish that's it, eh, let's see that's probably good, then I press finish the bell too, let's try the first kit here, the number one New York maple, which is really sensitive, there they are the clicks of your stick and the hits on the rim, oh, you get the rim to turn all the way. assuming it was just, you know, the front end plays anywhere, strangles anywhere, you can make the Mike forum joke.
Wow, the sound quality is excellent. Putting the BFD engine here was a very good idea. Let's try another kit, uh-oh. Texas Special, yeah, cool, deep, dark, Birch, dark, deep, let's look big and seriously, they almost sound like octobans, it's a floor tom. I love it. Everything feels very precise too. I can definitely say that they updated the shot processing system. It's a really nice trap, wait. second Texas Chainsaw yeah this module is crazy we have a roto kit that means rototoms plus plus plus oh I don't notice any kind of hot spots on these pads either so that's another one plus one Billy Zeppelin what are you about speaking, Billy Bob?
Okay, did you hear there's a phaser in the box? Okay, maybe maybe the whole kit phaser we have to do something with this, so those were a bunch of preset kits. There's also plenty of room here if you want to combine sounds or create your own kits, do whatever you want, so let's go to Edit Kit, we'll enable kick select, so now we have all these different options. I think you can use the scroll wheel or you can use the touch button. screen I guess you use touching the touch screen to audition, that's really good, yeah, I definitely like that one, we have a trap Binga, let's see how it sounds good, so what else can we do here?
There are some effects and processing that we can reproduce. with Andi and Reverb are right at the front. I guess your vibe is your room mic definitely sounds like the room mic. There's the Reverb, very, very good. I think it's also worth mentioning that this module has Wi-Fi, so whenever there's a firmware update or something, you don't even have to connect it to your computer, it's cool, so let's try another cool feature: stacking sounds. There are 40 different playable zones in this kit, which is incredible, but we can also combine them. Look at this so I'm going to go to Kit Edit and then go to Stacks, so here's the snare, let's see if we can add some kind of percussion to the rim here, so stack one, what is this?
Oh, that's pretty sick. I was also just informed that you can add your own sounds here, you know what that means, so let's stack some things up. I imported a bunch of samples, but yes, there is still more, let's try the USB output because we also get a free expansion pack, like the Nitro Max kit comes with BFD, although technically BFD is already in the module, but we can also use any sample software we want with this kit and since Mike Manie's sample package came out I've been dying to try it, I think. now is a good time, that's what I'm talking about, that little hello Tom, holy shit yeah this kit is amazing, it's very comfortable to play on the module, it sounds great, you can stack farts on it and I have no idea if I mentioned this or not before, but it also comes with a free 90-day subscription to Dro, my favorite online resource for anything, drums, elisis
