☃️Dollar Tree Candle SNOWMAN Craft

Hello everyone, it's summer again from Hammond's nest and I have a lovely inexpensive winter

craft

for you so you'll see me start painting here but I'll tell you a little bit about how this started so a journey. The

dollar

tree

, of course, is where I got this pretty white

candle

and I've seen a lot of gorgeous

craft

s made with this, but I thought I'd give it my own unique touch. I'm going to paint a

snowman

, but I've added a little embellishment that you'll see towards the end of the video that I have yet to see, so it occurred to me and I think it adds a really nice touch, so what you see me doing here First, of course, is painting a

snowman

face.

I am using Dixie Bell chalk paint for this project and I am using the color caviar, which is black, and terra cotta, which is orange. A tip, you know, snowman faces can be super unique, but a tip here is use the tip of your brush to work on that smile instead of the actual part of the brush, which could be a little trick. cool that you may not know, but just flip the brush and it will really help you remember that all snowman faces are unique. None of them are the same, we'll go back and add some highlights here on top of our painting later, but for now I'm just applying a couple thin coats of chalk paint.

Our next step is going to be grabbing some fabric from your toys to make the scarf, I bought this cute plaid at Hobby Lobby and I'm ripping it up, I just made a little cut and pulled it all the way down, let's set it aside because I'm going to to use This little wooden snowflake that I bought at Hobby lobby also came in a big package and I'm going to paint it with Dixie Bell colored cotton chalk paint and put it to the side, you'll see what I mean. Wait a minute, so I'm going to go ahead and tie that scarf on and I'm getting everything ready under my snowman face.

Make sure your snowman face is fairly dry before doing this. You don't want to stain your paint. but I'm going to get that scarf right then I'm going to take out that little snowflake that you saw I painted and I'm going to stick it right there as a little ornament. I thought that was a sweet touch and then like I said, I'm going to add some highlights to this cute little snowman face, it just adds a lot of character to do that and then for this, if you have some buttons lying around, that's great, I just didn't do it and I really wanted to do it.

I made this craft and I didn't want to run out and look for buttons so I grabbed some black jute and I just rolled it up to make it look like a button so it's like a black rope and as you see me I wound it tight and I made it so big as a button. You know, I could have made it a little smaller, but I ended up liking how it looked, so I'm quickly making three of those by hot gluing them to the front. I like the texture it gives it. I kind of like the buttons, but like I said, I didn't have any buttons, so once you have all that in place, the next thing is to find another

, so I have a dollar tree cookie sheet that cutout.

At first it ends up looking like a chef's hat, but stay with me, I'll walk you through it and then the lid of a glass jar, so I'm painting this whole thing with chalk paint, caviar color, which is black and I. I'm going to let it dry with that layer and when we have this, this is actually going to be this cute snowman's top hat, so this is the part that I came up with and I started looking at what I had. around and it really worked, we'll come back to that in a minute and I'll show you all the special touches below.

I'm taking some sparkly glitter, it's called extreme glitter and silver in folk art and I'm just sprinkling it on top of my black rope to add a little sparkle. Well, back to that top hat, so look where I'm folding it. That's why I like a chef's hat, but it will end up looking like a top hat. a little line of glue there and then you'll use that part that you folded to glue to the top of the lid and then once that's nice and dry you can go ahead and apply your second coat of black, I think just to give it a nice looking, so that's what I'm doing here, look how nice it will look.

Well, we're not done yet, we have to embellish this little hat a little, so let's take a little bit of the cotton color. which we used to highlight the snowman's face and we're just going to rub it and make some snow where I'm going to put snow. I'm going to go back and do a second cut on this with a rubbing motion, but for now I'm just laying down where I want the snow and once you have all that there you'll see what you like and you'll see how nice it is just showing you as it goes, I'll take some of that same fabric. which I use on the scarf and I'm just wrapping our piece of flat piece to create that little part there, just a little bit of hot glue held it nice and I think it attaches really well to the scarf so I tape on the hat ribbon the scarf and then I'm using that touch and strokes like I said to do a second layer of that white chalk paint over my snow and the tapping motion really gives it a kind of realistic snow that looks pretty easy so far, okay, okay, next.

I'm going to do another little embellishment on the top hat and I just had a little bit of flocked greenery around it so I cut a little piece off and I'm going to stick it right on the corner of the hat, now you can do it all. types of embellishments in this project, I just kept it pretty neutral in black and white with that little bit of foliage going into the greenery and then lastly onto the snow to tie on my buttons. I'm using that glossy paint again that dries. clear and silver and I'm rubbing it again over where I put the snow.
