Reviving an Abandoned, Custom Squarebody Dually with some Serious 80's Vibes! Will it Run and Drive?

Mar 22, 2024
a while, maybe a year or two, what is that? It doesn't move, oh, that's not good, almost. It feels like the shifter isn't connected to anything because it moves so easily it feels like it's connected up here oh yeah it's not in the hole it's not in the hole yeah I need to crawl up there but I really don't want to . Do we have mats or is there a mat here? Can we roll it to a better place? Oh, he doesn't want to move, let's see what I can do. This thing is a little low, yeah, with those running boards, oh God.

I don't know if those things should go away, I like them, yeah, I can't fit in, yeah, we have to save down there, Jake, I don't like this and I want to block the tire so it starts. rolling it doesn't kill me oh yeah, very good creative idea here for me to crawl under this side of the truck so we have an air compressor hooked up to the road because the cigarette outlet on the truck doesn't work. We're using this as a giant cigarette outlet to essentially inflate this tire so that I can hopefully slide under the running board because it's already very tight and, uh, the shift linkage is disconnected from the actual transmission, so it doesn't can. get it out of the parking lot, we were able to inflate that tire enough up there for me to get under this side of the truck and I'm here on my back swinging under that running board over there and this is why we didn't do it.

I don't have any momentum it's because this link was actually loose and disconnected from the transmission, I don't know why I couldn't tell you but I'm going to put it back in place and then we'll be on our way I don't think. It's

serious

stuff, so I'm going to slide it back in and we'll move this truck forward and then it'll be back in place in the transmission and we should be able to get this thing in gear and get it out of here. We'll see, the real question is: does it have brakes? Will I run my way?

And again, sorry, you guys can't see anything. It's a little dark outside, shot. It's rolling, so we get it. to rock it back and forth and park a few times, it's definitely sticky, it's definitely full of water. I actually had to sit there and rock it from neutral to

drive

over and over to get it to come loose, I think

some

of the brakes are hanging up, hopefully driving

will

fix itself. It would be nice to be able to take it

some

where where we could see it because it's really dark here. We put it under the streetlight and hopefully that

will

help.

What's the plan? Will it stop the brakes from working? So I say let's

drive

to the nearest gas station, fill up the two gas jugs, bring them back, fill this out with what we have and just drive down this little road and see how it works, we just ran down the road to a station service, we fill the gas jugs back up and clean the windows to where we can actually drive this thing and we're about to give it its first real spin. We moved. It's about 50 feet, but now we're going to put it on the road shooting, although it's running a little bad, not bad considering that well, there you have it, it's running once again, it's not running well, but it's working.
I'm riding on the running board outside the truck and enjoying the sound of that 454. at least one cylinder, but it's cruising, it works better downhill that's for sure, oh there's a second one, it doesn't like hills, although I like hills cabin lights and television antenna, the first island, the rest. The room is quite dangerous but up here it is very good. Oh, the reverse light works. I don't think we'll be driving this thing home tonight, but at least it's on the road again, so that counts. We just took it for a little bit of driving um this right front brake is sticking really bad you can actually see the smoke in the headlight there so we're going to need some new calipers we'll have to come back at a later date and fix that, but it's on the way after six years, so we'll have to order some parts and go back and see if it'll make it all the way to Georgia, so yeah, we have a little leak, but that's really the only leak I see.
I don't see anything else under here that's taking out a lot of fluid, so we need to change that little hose on the water pump, uh, top up the coolant, change at least this brake caliper, it's definitely sticking on this side. and we need a new hose for the overflow because it won't connect, yeah, the mice ate it too, so we have a little parts list, we're going to have to regroup to get some more parts so we can get this thing to Georgia, but That's how it went. run and drive today and that counts for something, well there you go, that's probably where this video will end.
My dad is there taking our battery out of the truck and uh, we're just going to drive the way back to Georgia without it. truck with us, which will be a much more enjoyable trip because the road is generally pretty reliable, so we'll come back at a later date and film another video where we fix that up a little more and then take it home. It's only 55 miles, but with the brake stuck as it was and running as it was, it wouldn't have been a fun ride, I could have done it at about 20 miles an hour, but it would have been miserable, so we'll wait until it's day, another day to come get that great machine, yeah anyway, thanks everyone for looking.
I hope you enjoyed the content. Remember to like, comment and subscribe. There is much more to come from us here in Sally's speech. I was sure I would take it home today, but we drove it, but not home, but it just needs a few things, a couple of brake calipers, some new plugs, some wires and maybe some components at the dealer and we're good, yes, so it has a chance to work. and that counts for a lot, so anyway tune in next time to see what other weird shenanigans we get up to
