MacBook Pro 16" (2019) - FULL REVIEW!

Jun 03, 2021
So I like smart homes. You know that most of our videos on his channel focus on smartphones, but there is one thing that I like more than smartphones and that is peace of course, but also computers, especially laptops, especially Mac books, and that's because it's really only my smartphone maybe one or two hours a day, not even kidding, but I'm on my laptop 10-12 hours, sometimes even more, so for me even small improvements, like a slightly brighter screen or a better keyboard. Improvements like this from year to year are actually huge improvements for me, we've all heard rumors about this new 16-inch Pro rival launching and you probably know that I've been using 15-inch MacBook Pros since 2013 on a daily basis. pretty much every model since then, so yes, of course, I was very excited about their upcoming 16-inch MacBook Pro, so we even did quite a few episodes of leak rumors about this, but now that it sounds, come on, this is it , these are my final thoughts.

of their new 16-inch Mountain Pro. Now this video is divided into seven different sections covering everything from design, display, keyboard performance, special features, battery life and value, so yeah, buckle up, grab some snacks, some drinks and enjoy, okay? Starting with the design, unlike manufacturers Dell, Asus, Lenovo and Terlato, which release new designs every year, Apple is a little different. Apple only releases a new design every four years or so. We designed the first handle pro in 2006, but I actually based it on the PowerBook g4 from 2003, then we got a second generation in 2008, five years later, which featured a completely new unibody design and was also much thinner and lighter, had firewire 800 s and then a Tuan censer in 2011. model then in 2012, four years later, we got the third generation, which was actually the biggest change ever made to a MacBook Pro, but with an even slimmer design, bezels thinner, it had

flash storage, a thinner keyboard, and the highest resolution screen on any laptop at the time. the Retina display we got Thunderbolt 2 with twice the speed of Thunderbolt 1 and the I/O changed quite a bit overall, this was a big upgrade and that was my favorite Magna Pro, I loved that machine and it's still my favorite piece of technology on 2016, 4 years later we got a 4th generation GoPro which was even slimmer, had a touch bar instead of function keys, added Thunderbolt 3 which was now twice as fast again as Thunderbolt and changed the ports again and I made a thinner keyboard again and added a new great color space, but I was a very controversial generation that had a lot of problems, lawsuits for keyboard problems, CPU overclocking speakers that broke, as if I myself had countless problems and I even made a few videos of how horrible my entire experience has been with not only the Apple MacBook Pro but also Apple customer service, so I'm guessing you haven't seen those videos, definitely check them out. here and now at the end of

2019

and three years after these four. generation came out we have the 16-inch MacBook Pro, but you see, I'm not sure it's a new generation and that's because visually it looks identical to the fourth generation, we have the same colors, the same ports, the same amount of ports even when However, you get some visual changes, like a new keyboard, a slightly larger screen with slightly thinner bezels and yes, that's it, there is nothing else visually, so yes, because of this, I really don't think this is a new generation.

More Interesting Facts About,

macbook pro 16 2019 full review...

The 13-inch Pro rival has an updated ninth yet, so we may get a 14-inch model in early 2020 and we even made a full video about that here so you can see it, so it was pretty interesting what we did . but for now this is the only MacBook Pro, the new MacBook Pro that we have, the 16-inch, which completely replaces the previous 50-inch model. Now there is one more difference in terms of design between the 15-inch model and the new 60-inch one. that is the actual size of this laptop, so the 16-inch MacBook Pro is now 1.62 centimeters thick versus 1.55 that a 15-inch from the previous generation had or 1.8 centimeters that a MacBook had Pro retina third generation from 2012 that was thirty-five point seventy-nine centers wide. versus thirty-four point ninety-three in the fourth generation or thirty-five point 89 in the third generation and measures 24 point 59 centimeters versus twenty-four point zero seven in the fourth generation and 24.71 centimeters in the third generation and is also notably heavier now and 2 kilograms versus 1.83 kilograms in the fourth generation 50-inch model or two point zero two kilograms in the third generation retina 2012 models, so the new 16 travel pro is now extremely similar in size and weight to the retina 50 and travel pro 2012 instead of the previous one it doesn't in gen 16 and there is a very good reason for these changes which I will cover in the performance section of this video in general, although I kind of like the design a little more modern than the 60-inch model.

It seems like this design doesn't really fit your body as well as, say, the raised keyboard and the raised Touch Bar and the Touch Bar separated from the escape and the Touch ID buttons and look like they were designed for a completely different world. laptop unlike the single low profile piece of glass we had before. I mean, yes, the screen looks more modern than before, but if you asked me in terms of the body itself which MacBook is the new generation, I would say that the previous generation is actually the new generation moving on to the screen, it is a panel 16-inch display compared to the 15.4 inches we had before, so it's a little bigger to the point where you'll notice it right away and it's just a little more immersive than before, so its field of Vision is taken up more than before with this larger panel and the bezels are also slimmer now, but not massively, as the bottom bezel is literally exactly the same size as before, the top one is just a tiny bit. thinner and then the sides are about half the size of the previous 15-inch model, so f Utley has a more modern design, but it is still far from

2019

laptops, such as the two-in-one Dell XPS 13 inches that has close to zero bezels and you know, laptops like that have a much more modern design and even a 60 inch MacBook Pro.

Apart from this, we also get a slightly higher resolution screen than before and 3072 by 1920 compared to 2880 by 1800, which gives us one pixel. 226 PPI density versus 220 like we had on the 15-inch model, but realistically, they both look equally sharp, they both have the same these happy three-color cabinets, the same viewing angles, the same near 500 nits of brightness and essentially the same screen. panel in terms of image quality and I must be honest I am a bit disappointed although it is still a very good panel, in fact this is the best Housley panel on any 15 or 6 inch laptop when it comes to accuracy of the color.
I was hoping for a brighter screen or at least a 4k panel like many high-end Windows laptops have, now the good news is that it makes you cool. I made a report that apple will release an updated 16 travel pro in late 2020 with a mini. LED screen, so it would be similar to what Apple uses in the pro-x yard screen, which is still an LCD panel; However, with a full 575 local dimming zones, it's kind of a hybrid between LCD and colloid, so it's not as good as an L-LED. But it's a lot better than a full city in terms of black levels, so It was said that the screen will receive some major updates next year, but yes, until then, we will have larger resolution options up to 2048 by 1280 from 1920 by 1200, which means you get a little more screen real estate for your applications and Windows.
Now a new feature when it comes to the display is the variable refresh rate, so that sounds really cool, but it's actually not that impressive, unlike the iPad Pro's motion display for example, which actually can reach 120 Hertz, the MacBook Pro screen can now still reach 60 Hertz, only now you can also select 59.94 Hertz, 50 Hertz, 48 Hertz and 47 points, 95 Hertz, which is what you already know . Ideal for high-end video editors and producers who want to match their refresh rate to the content they are creating. Now as far as the keyboard goes we get a pretty massive update here, as you'll see back in 2015 when Apple released a 12-inch MacBook they also released a new Butterfly keyboard, so this one included a new key switch mechanism butterfly instead of the standard scissor switch mechanism that almost all other keyboards use to make a slimmer keyboard more stable and also more precise in terms of typing well, how did you get the 12-inch MacBook to be the computer thinnest laptop in the world at that time and to achieve it you had to sacrifice things like the keyboard?
But you see when Apple released a MacBook Pro with a fortune in 2016. For some cool reason, they also included this very thin keyboard, for example, why I don't know, but yes, because of this cool idea, we had a lot of complaints about the key travel, obviously on a pro machine you know how degraded this keyboard is. was from the previous 3rd generation MacBook Pro retina MacBook Pros and what was even worse was that the switch mechanism on the bar actually broke very, very easily, if a little debris or even a little bit of dust got inside the key cover, it would damage it. and the key itself is unusable and because of how this mechanism was designed, you couldn't just replace the one key, you actually had to replace the entire top case of the Factbook Pro, which would cost seven hundred pounds to do, yeah genius, Apple just Just great, good job, so of course Apple found itself in the middle of a series of lawsuits and they finally launched a QR replacement program that includes even the new 20, 19, 13 and 15 inch MacBook Pros.
Now, since the 2016 model, they even made some. You make adjustments to your keyboard basically every year to the point where the 2018 and 2019 generations were much more reliable, but still broke; However, with the new Travelpro 16, Apple has now returned to the traditional scissor-style keyboard switches found in a third-generation GoPro. We were using it in 2012, now it's a bit thinner than the MacBook Pro retina keyboard and overall it's basically between the 3rd and 4th generation. Traveling and how it feels is not a key here, and I have to say this. In fact, it's the best keyboard Apple has put on a laptop to date.
Now it's a little more unstable than the butterfly keyboard, as you know the goal of the butterfly switch was to be more stable than the scissor switch, but overall it's still much better and I love it, but unfortunately Apple no longer has no keyboard repair program with a 60-inch Bible Pro, which means if you have a 15-inch GoPro 2019, for example, and your keyboard breaks, that at some point we'll get a free top case replacement up to 2023 with a good chance of even getting a 16-inch Bible Pro replacement, while you know that a free repair or even a replacement doesn't apply with a 16-inch MacBook Pro and, speaking of the keyboard, if you're tired of typing and remember all your passwords on all your devices, then purchase ni pass ni sponsor as in this video ni pass may sound familiar and that's because it was actually created by the same cybersecurity experts who build ni VPN. one of the most popular VPNs in the world when over 12 million users worldwide Ni Pass allows you to save all your passwords in its app, which is protected by a single security password as well as Face ID or your fingerprint digital if you choose to do so and you also have the option to add two-factor authentication for even greater security.

Now moving on to performance, this is actually the biggest improvement we get with a 16 inch

macbook

pro, the processors are exactly the same as on the mate we 19, we updated all 15 models which added octa core processors and a keyboard improved butterfly, so we still have the same eight cores up to $9.99 per dhk processor with a base clock speed of 2.4 gigahertz and a turbo boost of 5 gigahertz, but thanks to the improved cooling system, we actually get higher CPU performance on a bulky bench for the NG 5 bench compared to a 20-19 and 15-inch MacBook Pro and the same applies.
Cinebench r20 we get almost 300 points higher with the exact same CPU on the 16-inch model, so next we wanted to do some real-life CPU tests, so we ran our zone of that Keshawn benchmark test which includes a quite complex scene with some of our logos and we applied exactly the same settings on all machines, the 60 micro finished in 6 minutes and 49 seconds versus 8 minutes and 57 seconds on the 2019 50-inch model with exactly the same processor versus 12 minutes and 22 seconds on the 2018 model 13 minutes 43 seconds on the 2017 model, so it's a pretty big improvement even over the 2019 15-inch model, which had the exact same processor as this one.
Additionally, the clock speed remained at 2.8 gigahertz compared to 2.5 on a 2019 15-inch model, however it was running hotter at around 88 degrees Celsius compared to 75 on a twin 2019 model. 1950 inches now, while the CPU performance is a pretty good upgrade even over the 2019 15 inch model, the GPU performance is a massive improvement and that's actually because you're now getting these new GPUs from Navi / our DNA architecture which are now based on a new seven nanometer process and this is quite big because it is seen in the 2016, 2017 and 2018 models and even in the 2019 MacBook Pro models, Apple still had the Radeon Pro 465 Graphics 60 and 560 regarding the Polaris architecture and now the new anafi architecture has a big improvement even over the Vega 20, we get the Radeon 5300 M EMV probe for a base model with 4 gigabytes of dedicated video memory which actually surpasses the Vega 20 by a pretty significant margin and then We get the radio pro 5500 M as the top tier GP option which can actually be configured with 4 or 8 gigabytes of video memory and that thing is just a monster all in one.
I have not compared, for example, we have 18 point 8 frames. per second or the 2016 MacBook Pro twenty point one in 2017 twenty-two point six in 2018 with 560 dedicated video memory that for tonight with exactly the same settings 16hundred 80 by 1050 and everything on Epic we got 20 frames per second on the 2018 model with 560 X 36 frames per second on the 50 inch model with Vega 20 and 50 3 frames per second with a 16-inch screen with 8 gigabytes and 5500 mbpo. Now another big change is when it comes to RAM, so we don't have 2666 megahertz RAM a little faster than the 2400 megahertz one we had in the 50-inch model from 2019. and now we also have up to 64 gigabytes of RAM from the 32 gigabyte limit we had with a 15-inch model.
Now our drive has 32 gigabytes of RAM, so we don't have the 64 gigabyte version and I wouldn't really recommend it. Since 3 2 gigabytes is enough for most people, unless you're running a ton of virtualization software you won't really need it storage-wise, we also got another improvement, so while the speeds are similar to the ones we had before, both in black magic and In the JD speed test, we don't have the option of up to 8 terabytes of flash storage from the porter purchase limit that we had before and that's crazy, having terabytes of speeds of Transfer rates approaching 3 gigabytes per second on a laptop is simply incredible for content creators.
Of course, this setup is very expensive, but at least you have that option if you really need it. So how does all this performance translate into real-world use? Well, in Phone Cut Pro 10, for example, the final camera lasts 15 minutes. For comparison, which is actually one of our most complex projects, this one took 22 minutes to export in h.264 on the mega Pro 2017, 20 minutes on the 2018-19 minutes on the 2019 with 560 X 17 minutes and 44 seconds on the 2019 50 and Twitter Vega 20 and 13 minutes and 50 seconds on the 16-inch model. I also connected an electronic GPU to my 2019 15 2560 with EE GPU vs 25 minutes in 24 seconds in the 16 inch scenario without any GPU connected, the 16 travel pro is even faster than a MacBook Pro plus a more powerful GPU and in the Bruce xgp benchmark, my GoPro 60 inch render is and 10 seconds versus 26 seconds on my 15 inch 20 1956 DX versus 10 seconds on the 2019 15 inch with a Radeon at 5,700 XD EGP connected and now, as far as the fluid timeline goes, to 2019, 15 inch with a 560 however, the 60-inch Bible Pro was getting around 58 frames per second, which was a huge improvement, so yeah, performance-wise, the MacBook.
Pro 16 inch is a gigantic improvement, especially the GPU is superior to all previous models. Now a small issue I have here is that the fans are very loud compared to the 50 inch model and come on more frequently than before so that's something to keep in mind, yeah ok now we'll move on to the special features. We actually get some new ones compared to the 2019 15-inch Magnum Pro, so we get the upgraded speakers that actually sound pretty amazing, we get six speakers. channel now, three on each side instead of two on each side and we now have a tweeter, a midrange speaker and a bass speaker, so this results in a much clearer sound at the points where it actually sounds very similar to a mini home pod, now it's not as loud as the 20:19 15-inch MacBook Pro.
It was quite interesting, so we lost a little bit of volume, but we gained quite a bit in terms of clarity. Oh, now the microphones have also been significantly improved to the point where Apple now calls them studio quality microphones, so here's a quick example, and this is what the microphone sounds like and also with the front camera, this is a 2017 MacBook Pro, by the way, now this is the 2018 micro. Pro, this one doesn't have an EQ processor, so the picture should be a little better and the microphone should sound a little clearer too. Now this is the 2016 2016 20 19 16 inch Bronco pro, this is what the camera looks like.
This rarely sounds like it, but unfortunately, as you can probably see, the webcam is identical to what we had before, so it's just a 720p 30 frames per second camera which looks pretty horrible nowadays, you know. , we have things like 4k and 60 Sagi 4k front camera on the iPhone 11 Pro and yes, unfortunately this would be impossible to have on a MacBook Pro due to the help of the screen, but you could have easily added at least one camera of 1080p, as there are very thin laptops on earth. on the market, would it already have a 1080p front camera?
For some reason, the 16 travel pro doesn't have Wi-Fi 6 or Wi-Fi aex 2011, which is the next generation of Wi-Fi, although the iPhone eleven pros actually have it and you know better than to have it on a laptop that you know what you used for real work compared to a phone you only used for social media just doesn't make any sense and we also have a lot of sin life in 2019. that have Wi-Fi 6 so I'm extremely disappointed that Apple doesn't have gone this route considering that Wi-Fi 5 or 802, speaking of AC, which is inside this laptop, has been on the MacBook since the 2013 Retina models, yes.
In the last 6 years there has also been a new sensor in the MacBook that counts the number of times the lid has been opened and closed, which sounds useless but is actually very useful when it comes to servicing a MacBook and avoiding problems like the flexible door. The problem happens again. Well now, as far as battery life goes, the Travelpro 16 comes with a ninety-nine point eight watt hour battery compared to the 3.6 watt hour battery we had before in the 50-inch model. and, interestingly, 100 watts is actually what it is. the limits in terms of what the FAA allows on a single device on a plane, so I like how Apple managed to get so close to this now, in real world use, you can now get up to 11 hours of battery life compared to 10 hours like we had before in terms of what you actually get if you're editing a video, expect around 2 hours or so depending on how much you're really pushing the system and if you really want to get close to that 11 hours. then you'll have to close everything and just keep Word open or just do some light web browsing and that's fine, so in the end the Travelpro 16 is worth it.
The base model starts at $2,400, which is actually the exact same price. As before, although we had a series of leaks suggesting that this MacBook would cost at least $3000, but now it offers twice the storage (512 gigabytes by 1356) that we had before, we also have the Radeon pro 5300 M processor and the GPU, which it gives you basically double the GPU performance of the Vega 20 or close to double which is extremely impressive and the 20 figure was actually in the highest end option on the previous 50 inch model and this one is the lowest which you can buy at the lowest end GPU is better than the previous highest NGP which is pretty crazy, we also get faster RAM, faster 6 core processors, thanks to the new thermal system we get a bigger screen , a high resolution screen, a better keyboard, better speakers, better microphones and everything. of these for the same price and in the UK, for example, the previous 15 Shiu 19 model with an 8-core CPU maxed out at 32 gigabytes of RAM, Vega 20 graphics and a terabyte of storage which was priced at just over 4000 lbs., now the 16-in.
MacBook Pro with exactly the same configuration costs £3,000 and is much more powerful thanks to that new GPU; in fact, you can't even get 64 gigabytes of RAM and the highest-end GPU option with 8 gigabytes of dedicated video memory for £3,790 less. then the 15 inch Vega 20 model had significantly weak aspects so here we go the 16 tribal pro is actually the best value laptop Apple has ever offered which is quite interesting and the base model is really extremely good, it's so good that that's the one I would recommend to most people, so yeah, like I said, if you want to upgrade anything on the MacBook Pro, definitely upgrade the RAM first which is 32 gigabytes, followed by the GP, if you did a lot of 3D work, then the CPU and only then the storage, so the real question is am I going to upgrade to this MacBook Pro and the answer is no, I'm actually not, it's a great laptop, but it's not for me obviously I've had a lot of issues with Apple recently when it comes to you know my previous MacBook Pro so I'll stick with a 2019 15 inch replacement which I have a video of here but anyway the The thing is that I no longer edit the videos, did you see that?
I export them to a MacBook Pro, which you know, the 20 model is still pretty fast and I'm personally looking forward to the next 14-inch MacBook Pro, but until then this is an amazing laptop and overall, the best laptop on the market. market for video production, but if you're still not completely convinced, feel free to wait until next year because that's when Apple will finally release the 10th generation to 10th generation processors inside this new MacBook Pro. Wi-Fi 6 It is more than likely. coming soon and possibly even the new mini LED display, that means you were talking about before, soit's going to be a pretty big upgrade even from this one and if you want to buy one definitely use the links below mental links because they support a channel it doesn't cost them anything but if you support the channel and videos like this thank you yeah definitely Let me know in the comments what you think about this MacBook Pro, yes or no, definitely, but not for me, okay, look.
Thanks for watching. I'm Daniel and I'll see you in the next one. Technical setup to log out.
