HE WOULDN'T LET ME PASS! | Racing a Mexican Enduro!

Feb 22, 2020
Today at BCpov! I ride an

enduro

with my wife Yuka Passing! Passed! PASSED! After traveling in Mexico City We headed northeast towards a city called León. We are traveling in an area called Sierra de Lobos, which means mountain range of wolves. Upon checking in, I picked up my t-shirt that came with the $50 entry fee. Want a? also? Yeah, I don't have Jersey shirts anymore Look, there's a wolf on the back. It's great, right? It's actually a pretty nice shirt. I was surprised to get one with the race registration. I know, you can't buy it for $50 Canadian.

So if there's a size for me, do you think I'll make the run? I don't know, only you know, darling! I don't know either, honey! Do you want to go look? Yes, I don't want to suffer, but the shirt looks good Yuka hadn't planned on doing the race Yes, it's much tighter than yours Oh, okay After trying on a shirt She decided to participate This also means that she will be running the course blind Since she couldn't pre-ride the day before, like I did. Yes, it's a little cold! Because I am here? I don't know! Ah, here The ambulance, waiting for me First stage This

enduro

is a fairly informal race And there is no starting order This means that Yuka and I can race together Which we could never do in a Canadian enduro This also means that I will be doing a lot of overtaking And Yuka will be overtaken since the runners do not start according to speed or class.

Anyway, we prepared to begin the first stage of the day. Can she go right after me? Already. So she has space. Like she's going to chase me and then that'll give her a minute, no problem. Already? Okay, come on, come on? Okay, Yuka starts directly after me. First stage! How bumpy! Hello! I tried to inform Yuka in advance about certain features of the trail that I learned about on the previous day's pre-ride. Like this rocky section, which she does well in Graci-oooh! But it's hard for her to know when the biggest rises are coming. There is often no advantage to jumping on this course, so I just circle around to go faster.

Thank you! These white things are cattle guards They make good jumps But I guess I got it a little The fork here is tricky The signs are small and it's easy to go the wrong way When I'm about to

pass

Yuka is overtaken Passing! She's coming! Thank you! Nice chain that fell off! How was Yuka-chan? That was fucking long! I dropped the chain. Oh, right? Did you stop? No Oh Good job Yuka-pei It was fun though Huh? Oh, I got lost. Did you go the wrong way at the fork? Yeah, like stage 4 Yeah, that's what I thought it was, "ah, it's easy to go the wrong way here" Someone yells at me, like Okay, okay and like oooh After refueling at the food station Okay !

Orange juice It's time for stage 2 But Yuka is worried about a ditch she has to cross Just before the start of the stage I'm still nervous about the ditch, honey The ditch? It's better not to know, right? I guess she skipped it right here. But Yuka has a little more trouble. A big gap is approaching that I choose to avoid. Pedal strike! almost... Over the bars! I said goodbye! I warned Yuka about the gap before But it's not marked Not this way Get down here Look for the exit Yuka also doesn't know that this gap is coming What is that?
With both knee pads down. The soldiers in her chamber were beaten. So she now she points down. Going! Thanks Pretty relaxed Good training for the Vancouver summer This part is really fun *pedal slam* Oh, gotta keep my pedals level! I couldn't walk this lower part of the trail so it's a bit blind for me. Sometimes I have to keep that barbed wire in mind. Going around... There's a jump there that I saw on Facebook. They closed it. Oh, that was intense. I must have crashed into that damn thing... I was pedaling and... I caught a... I caught a pedal.
Very good, darling. What's that jump over there? Oh yeah, that's what they blocked, is that blocked? There's a line that really goes to the jump Yeah, it used to be there and they took it out of the race So I crashed What about you? Right at the beginning After... The Great Gap Did you crash? I went around... And I started pedaling and I caught a pedal on the floor, and we almost did it. I didn't really crash, but I went over it. I was like this And then I had to run Uh. , I almost crashed at the beginning, already?
The gap Ya And I think I hit it too hard or something Oh ya Like, my foot came out Both feet Oh yeah? Another lunch stop and it's time for stage 3 Hmm, gummy worm It's the shortest stage But there's a very technical section in the middle Are you ready to start? It's okay, it's okay Stage 3 Come on, Yuka! Oh ya! What is this? Oh ya! Hello! A little surprise is coming. Oh great rock! Oh shit! That rock in the middle of the trail wasn't supposed to be there! If you are a spectator You might consider moving a rock like this because it can be quite dangerous I hope Yuka doesn't hit that giant rock Hi Did you notice any problems along the way?
No, what is that? Giant rock At first, right? We will be in the difficult technical section. Oh yes, yes, I realize so. Oh what the fuck! Yes, exactly I'm glad you didn't hit it Well, luckily, that rock didn't eliminate us That allowed us to reach the final stage Which is the longest and maybe the best Ok, last stage Yes, let's go We return to the city and We can drink coke. Now, are you looking forward to that? Yes and donuts, we also have donuts. Is this the longest? Uh, it should be the longest stage. I think it's a little flat here, so you'll probably have to pedal hard.
That is very difficult. Do you want to go? Okay, I warned Yuka to stay on the far left after this halfpipe to get to the faster line Left! Left left she Looks like she got it! My God! Very polite of Yuka to crash to let the runner

pass

! But his camera was hit again. Happens! Thank you! Passed! Passed! Passed! PASSED!! I actually destroyed my backpack when I hit this tree. I check it because I can feel it swinging. Oh, horses! Oh my god, finish! I'm so glad I'm done. Already? How was that, honey? Your advice was correct, yes.
Did you stay high? I stay high, now Now, it's better. OK. When I was going down there were horses running in front of me. These horses are just running in circles here. Oh really? Look what happened to my backpack This hit the tree Oh, but it stayed put Ya How was it? That was a really good stage. It's very intense. A boy

wouldn

't get out of my way and yelled at me: "Come in! Come in, come in!" So I had to go through the bushes To get past him I guess he doesn't want to stop you On the topic of passing I feel very conflicted about it Obviously we're both running and we both want to do the best we can But unfortunately with one's own planting format You'll have this kind of conflicts.
Personally, I will always stop if someone behind me is faster. But I can see that getting old very quickly. If you have to do that 3 or 4 times in a race, I've done it. I heard that in some parts of the world people are not so friendly when it comes to passing. In the end, Yuka ended up taking second place out of 9 women. Good job, honey cake. I placed 5th in the master's category and 28th out of 150+. people who raced Anyway, I really enjoyed this enduro The trails definitely impressed And it sure was nice to be able to race with Yuka Something we probably won't be able to do for a long time As we learned in Japan if you're traveling, go to a race, you'll have a great time and you will almost certainly make some friends.
But, as always, thanks for watching and staying twisted.
