Anti-lag V.S. 2-Step What's The Difference?

Apr 03, 2024
What's happening guys? So back in the garage not working on the Super today but back on the MR2 doing small things right now. I have the trunk open, which I don't think I showed you guys, not last time. I think a lot of people realize that there is actually a trunk in the back of the car, also in the upper ones, in the front, the front of the car is mainly stored for the spare tire that you can remove and, in Actually, there's plenty of space up there too. One of the things I like about this car is that it actually has a lot of space, the cabins are really spacious and the trunk and I think under the hood is quite spacious and it makes

what

I'm doing now quite enjoyable. it's actually removing the trunk mat, the reason this is coming up now is because of the fact that there's something greasy or something like an oily residue down here, so I'm going to soak it and wait for the keyword, hoping to get it off the feeling of oily residue.

I wonder where it came from. I looked down here. This doesn't seem like it. I mean I can see some or something. This doesn't feel bad. In any shape or form it looks like one of these will break at some point. There are other plastic clips that seem fine, so it must be. I must be on this, but while I'm doing this, I'm also looking for the trunk mat from the original Toyota MR2, so there was a rubber mat that went on this from the factory. I hope to find one. I haven't seen many of them, but I hope to find one while doing this.

I also wanted to talk to you and a lot of people ask me where the hell is the ECU. Well it makes it quite convenient, they're not actually inside the car but in the trunk and all the wiring goes through there which makes it really convenient so when you're left alone or doing everything it's literally here which makes it really convenient. makes it really convenient. It's pretty fucking easy to work on, I don't want to say I know I haven't worked and started the engine yet and trying to get off it, it's probably a nightmare, but so far this thing is a lot easier to work on than that car, especially the ECU. . of me being hidden under the dashboard in the sense that everything is tied here, TCS has helped me a lot, and as soon as I removed the panel or the trunk mat, you can see a giant TCS sticker since they originally changed this. car to a gen 3 engine.

I'm just taking it apart checking where everything is on one thing. I have a problem. In fact, I have to check it here pretty sure that my,

what

's his name, your dealer, sorry, I'm not used to it. Having a dealer, I've had great cars now jeez, years and years, the last dealer car I had was actually had a 6th gen Celica which actually got me into the three sets of sergeant GT fours etc, but actually I'm going to take this blue tau here and see if I have any oily residue underneath, oh and no guys and girls, hmm I think the distributor might be ok, more leaks elsewhere which unfortunately isn't a thing really good for the fact that he would have been kind.

It's been easy to fix since it's right on top, if it leaks somewhere else I'm a little worried, to be honest you'd see it has a little dirt on it but it's not wet, I mean if it really did leak with these drops. I'm seeing on the ground that this thing would have been soaked, maybe I'll dig a little more, but it doesn't look like a good thing here, it looks like it's leaking from somewhere else, which doesn't make me very happy, it's no one's fault, I want say. I saw everything Tyra put up. Oh, he didn't touch anything like the seals or anything of that nature and you put in a timing belt and stuff, but he threw the engine out so he could have a bad seal somewhere else inside the engine, which was nice.
Bad smell, but I guess it would give me a reason to start the engine to do all the seals. I bet you if I took it out of the engine I would sell it and I would know I would sell it and getting a Gen 4 engine looks better and I would probably build it at the same time so I would have this under construction and I would be building it this winter. I really need to be able to do this full time. It's getting out of hand because I can't do both, but okay, I'm going to go ahead and try to clean this up real quick and then I have a couple of things I want to talk to you about today, okay guys, so I have That's now sprayed, you can see the driveway soaked, but hoping this gets caught on camera, you guys can see the oil like that that was on that carpet, it's all over my driveway now, Luckily I'm going to stain it again or guess what it's called.
It will be next year, so it won't really matter, but that was all on that rug. I'm not sure my super was the same too. I'm not sure what these people do when they buy these cars, they just pour oil into the trunk of their cars, but it really bothers me, that's the time I had to do it now with one of these collars. I'm not sure if I'll have the luck of the draw when it happens, but I mean, I was covered. It wasn't like it was a residue of something else, I mean, it was legit oil.
You could see the stain if you come back here despite the stain and this and you can't feel it and here's a look a little bit of The oil is nothing crazy but the rest is fine and I felt with my hand that there is no residue but yeah You put anything in there, it would literally take it out and it would be wet, like it had oil on it, so this is the part of the video that I was really waiting to get to and what you guys want to see in this. I want to talk about the

difference

s between two-

step

and anti-lag and most people get confused saying well, Ryan two-

step

and anti-lag are the same thing and I'm sorry guys, but it's not to mess around, They are actually two different systems and the healing builds on itself, but there are two different things in the way your power up, power up delay works. system, where they put the fuel in the system, I'll explain them all here in depth for you, but to intervene and anti-lag from the beginning, this one will let you know that they are two different things.
I will explain it to you here, so first of all, we will start with two steps, since that is the basis of all these two steps. It's what you're about to see right now. What you just saw was my friend Zack Coppers r32 GTR, this was a couple of years ago. At a car show now they're probably saying Ryan, he's blowing up the latest. I saw some fire and they are right, but it is said more like a rev limiter and not an anti-lag system, so technically it is a two-step system. almost like a set rev limiter, it's just set below a certain mile per hour, so let's do it this way.
I make this really simple: you have your car under five miles per hour, so you pretty much stand still if you try to accelerate your car. say try to rev it as high as you can, it will set a two step limit, this two step limit will cut off the ignition, cut off the fuel and sit there like it would with a rev limiter, the only

difference

is that instead of say your redline being 7,000 rpm, now you're sitting at let's say 4,000 4,500 rpm to optimize your launch because if you're trying to launch at 7,000 where the engine is, let's say, at its most crucial point or is too high on the limiter, you're going to do it.
If you want wheel spin number two, you could damage the engine, etc., by lowering it, you have a better chance of launching the car and moving forward. Now how does this work? You know what the two steps themselves are, so what are you going to do? What we're looking for here is a multitude of things, guys, it's literally four different things, number one is set rpm, where do you want to launch?, where do you want the car?, where is it best suited to launch?, where were they trying to hold it from? limit before the best part about to take a step is that you can hold it against the floor, you don't have to worry anymore, oh man, you don't have the right RPM.
I'm looking at that trying to loosen my grip. I'm going down the The drag strip at the step allows them to take that at the factory, they just keep their foot on the ground, they always have to worry about it slipping the clutch correctly, coming out of the hole correctly and getting that perfect 60 feet, so that It is the first step. I need to remember that next you're going to take a good look at your fuel cut, where you're going to cut some wet ones, so it's going to be more of a hard cut for your car, like it's a soft cut and a hard cut for your rev limiter. you know there is a soft cut and then you have a hard cut with ignition cut and it would reduce fuel wear.
The soft cut probably just cuts the ignition and continues with fuel, which is a little different. I can move on to another topic, but for This first you're going to look at the ignition cutoff here and then you're going to start looking at the fuel cutoff and then lastly and most importantly you're going to look at the VSS, which is the speed sensor of your vehicle, so that the speed of your vehicle will be what you want. to set it to the speed of your vehicle, like I said before, they probably set it to, let's say, less than five miles per hour, and you say, well, why five, why not set it to one mile per hour too well just for The fact that the sensors are not always perfect five miles per hour is usually the safe bet and in these cases you could say that they are the two highest.
I just wouldn't recommend it. I actually made the mistake once with my Toyota Supra. Years ago I was playing with the Infiniti and I set it to high and I went to accelerate the car in first gear when I went to take off, it stopped me at 4800 rpm Zin, it fell on its face and it scared the hell out of me, so don't make the mistake I made, boys. now by doing this you have now set a new technical rev limiter or a new two step and the reason for the two step is because you now have two sets of rev limiters you have the first one which is your two step release . and then after you surpass that five mile per hour mark, now the normal rev students say it's 7,000, so that's the second step of your two step system, technically people say that's not right in two steps, it is the part where you are actually launching from, yes, but the main reason is that you have to follow different steps of your power cut.
I know it's very confusing, it can be hard for people to understand, so guys, that's the basics of the two steps. system I hope that clears up a little bit now let's move on to the part where people really like to see and that's anti-lag so what is a T like a T leg? It's what I have in my super and it's what causes this. it's what everyone at car shows dragstrip this is what everyone uses to help launch the car now at car shows people do it because it sounds cool and it looks cool it makes that loud pop and shoots fire but does why does he do that?
As? Do it well. I'm trying to try to explain to you how and why he does this, so this is where Stefan ante are the same. Here we are going to do the ignition and auto-ignition cut-off, although what does that mean here? on your intake stroke as the piston here goes down, here's the top, here's the TDC, as your pistons go down, you're going to ignite that fuel mixture, that air-fuel mixture later in that stroke, which This is what causes that burning sensation. which sounds horrible, that the burning that's happening happens later in the stroke, so when the piston comes back up for its exhaust stroke, all that unburned fuel, all that unused air now goes to the turbocharger, where there is the hot collector and the hot turbine. causing combustion almost inside the manifold inside the eggs hot exhaust housing, causing that loud pop and pop that you're also used to hearing, causing the turbo to rev faster, causing it to hold boost just outside off the line, that's what gives you that bang bang pop. pop that everyone loves and lists, so again guys, you're going down your intake stroke, you turn on the ignition system later on that stroke, what you're going back up on the exhaust stroke, that unburned fuel, that unused air goes into the exhaust manifold goes into the turbo and gets used, that's what gives you that incredible noise, that feeling that everyone loves at every car show when you go off the line, that's the basics.
I'm not going to give you everything, but that's it. The basics, I just wanted to clarify that to take it a step further, there are definitely two different systems, it's literally just supposed to have a Schnauzer set rev limiter, it's great for the NA guys and it also works for turbocharged cars, it still works will build. boost because you're still holding a certain rpm, you still have the engine spinning, so obviously you're going to build some boost, but it's kind of like doing anti-lag, which will give you say you want 25 psi, you can set it. Your boost controller says I want 25 psi.
I needed this rev limiter. I needed a Nishan cut here. Boom done. You can do it all day. We are in two steps. We're not going to do it. You are literally setting up anotherrev limiter at a lower rpm. which is great guys for a turbocharged card. I don't really see the point in this, I'm just being honest, um, because they're going to get stuck on the line, I mean, with the two steps they have, it's just going to fall off. flat in your face each and every time, that's my opinion, you guys can totally disagree with me, but I just want to give you the whole point on this, so thank you very much, as always, I hope this helped you.
I get this question. Very much, yes, this explanation is not perfect by any means, but it gives you a basic understanding of what anti-lag is and what two steps are. If there's anything else you guys would like to see regarding this type of thing, anything else on the Supra or do I have to start working on the MOR to hear it because there's an oil leak from the distributor, yippy, I have a Gen 4 carburetor packed up nicely , whatever, so if there's anything else you guys would like to know, let me know, message me on Facebook or Instagram.
I'm always there, I always post well in advance, so thank you all so much and I'll talk to you later, peace.
