Does Vancouver NEED an Enforcer?

Mar 22, 2024
welcome foreigner to Kempner Canucks my name is Rev Trev and today I'm going to talk about something I've wanted to talk about for a while that just came up in Canuck conversations lately regarding potential free agents and

does

Vancouver

need

an

enforcer

now? I've been thinking that we

need

it for a long time. It would be nice to have one that remembers the old days when there were

enforcer

s and you know there's a main event every once in a while. For a while, I mean, I remember watching Probert and Geno and Thai Domi and these were like Donald Brashear, are you kidding me? enforcers, but the question is if the game has moved on, has it improved?
does vancouver need an enforcer
We don't need enforcers anymore and my guess now is that we actually do need them a little more and there's been a lot of talk about Milan Lucich and why he's been, it's from Vancouver, they're asking, hey, would you consider coming to Vancouver? And he gave a sort of "I think that was a pretty vague answer." He didn't seem like he was interested. a possibility and this is the question, so why would we need one? Well, I think we need to protect our stars, uh, but we need an enforcer that can really play, that's why the Brashear handout was really good, that's why Bob Probert was really good, because they could still play.

More Interesting Facts About,

does vancouver need an enforcer...

Ty Domi, I mean Chino, I mean back in the day, you didn't need to have that much skill, he did have some production, don't get me wrong, so we all miss Gino Gino and anyway, it's a long story to tell That Ryan Reeves is available, this is the type of person that I think would be fantastic in Vancouver. Anyone wants to talk about Lucich and that's great, but I'm a big fan of Ryan Reeves. I think it's absolutely incredible. He puts fear in people. They think twice before going. after the stars, um, Lucich isn't that much and I don't know if Lucich really has the speed, let me look at his stats for a moment, so, at 34 years old, being up there, I feel like he's lost his step, but look what enormous.
does vancouver need an enforcer
This guy is and when you look at him like he's a ton of bricks, okay, the guy is solid, he's 231 pounds, six foot three, but here's the kicker, his last contract was six million dollars. . Now, granted, he got that deal with Louis Erickson that summer. where there were no free agents, it was amazing to use him, listen, this is crazy if you think about it, six million for so many years, I think he had more than seven years or so, wow, that's him. I've heard people say, well, you know, we appreciate it. have him on our team if we could get him for a base salary or less than a million dollars, but my question is: why would he come to Vancouver if he missed the playoffs for less than a million dollars?
does vancouver need an enforcer
I probably could probably in most places or in some places maybe it will. The best way to put it is to play in Vancouver for less than a million. I think he can make over a million somewhere else, but if it was a million or 1.1 1.2, would you be excited to have Lucich? So, I'm a big Ryan, so here we go. let's just talk about Ryan Reese for a moment, he's 36 so he's two years older, but he is and he's smaller on paper, but I still think he can play, he can play hard and physical and his last contract was only 1.75 and that en It's much more feasible if we can lower it a little more than that.
I don't know if he would be interested in coming to Vancouver, but he would be very excited if he were there now. Many people say no. I need an enforcer, we have Joshua Dakota and I would say this guy is not the same, let's look at these stats, okay, um, 27 years old, much younger, right, and obviously that's the really important piece there, 6'3 but 206. Now you're I mean, well, it's actually pretty big compared to these other things, they're basically the same size, no, it's not really, the fact is that this is the most I've seen it in its category of weight.
I've seen some sites that say he only weighed 183 pounds. Now there's no way he's only 183 pounds, so he definitely weighs more than that. He has to be around 200 pounds, but his last contract, in fact his current contract they got him for another year, is 825,000, which is a good deal, so what do you think? a lot of Canucks fans are going to say, well, keep Dakota, but wouldn't it be great if we had Dakota and Reeves or Ann Lucich, depending on what we can get them for? I don't know, he's just great. We need, I just find that nobody is nobody, they are the guys who are going to drop the gloves if they go after Hughes, Pederson or Kuzmenko, like there is someone who can step in and say, "Okay, enough is enough, enough is enough , We will handle".
Good deal because sometimes the referees don't always do it sometimes the league

does

n't always do justice so Dakota just isn't that guy okay so drop the gloves you're not afraid of Dakota it's just that but If you had a Reeves, you'd be afraid and I don't know if fear is the best motivating factor, but sometimes it is, depending on the situation, so also, I mean, he'll drop the gloves on people I don't know. It's fun to watch a fight every now and then in hockey, it's just a blast, so I'd love to hear what you think, please post it in the comments.
Do you think we need an enforcer? If so, Dakota is good enough. If not, who would you prefer Lucich or Ryan Reeves or is there someone I completely missed? Post it in the comments.
