I Saved the WORST Team in NCAA Basketball

Apr 10, 2024
I want to fix the

worst

team

in the country by rebuilding them until we win a championship and I have three options to choose between Detroit Mercy and Mississippi Valley State they only got one win this year but depal wasn't much better and when I went to see the overall

team

despite that these two universities are in smaller conferences on paper, Depal is the

worst

team in the game, they also play in the Big East which makes things even more difficult and it has been a while since they have been good, they are located In Chicago. so we should be able to recruit well but this starting roster is one of the worst I've seen and the only decent player is second year power forward Elijah Fisher of course I will also play on the hardest difficulty skipping to any major. postseason matchups and I have no idea how I'm going to be able to get the Blue Demons a championship.

The only challenges we have recruiting is making sure we sign three-star players and that we have eight scholarships available, which is not the worst thing is that this will allow us to get rid of a lot of the bad players that are on the team right now. . One of the main problems we're going to run into is that once we get to the Big East, all of these schools are so much better than us, so I don't see us having a lot of success and the highest-rated prospect wanting to come to our schools. schools with 182, we are also on top of point guard Derek Lee, so let's try to get him by sending him a package and another problem I'm starting to notice is that none of the players who want to come punt are guards or centers, so I would like to look for a four-star recruit and that's because of Doug Abrams.

More Interesting Facts About,

i saved the worst team in ncaa basketball...

He is from Chicago Illinois. I expect us to drop every game this season, since we're 0 and 3 and with only 100 recruiting points to spend but eight scholarships to get, I think I'm going to start sending them out. to all the players, if you end up accepting that it's going to be great, I don't have room to say I don't want a certain prospect because legitimately we should take whatever we can get and I don't think we're going to have much chance of getting Doug Abrams, but I have hoping that we still can and if this team was really that bad this season we got our first win and it was over Navy so that's a good thing but I have a feeling that this first season of rebuilding isn't really going to go well , so we're not going to take a detailed look at everything and see how many players Paul has signed, meaning seven of them we can always eliminate. them later and all our points will go to Doug Abrams, so that's the only other thing I'll really care about the rest of this season and I'm legitimately wondering right now what we're going to be like.
i saved the worst team in ncaa basketball
I was able to accomplish this because this team is terrible coming into conference play, it seems like we're getting a couple wins here and there, so when I get here we're actually sitting at 6 and 11 and that's a lot better than what we thought. made this team. in real life, but the Big East has five of the top six teams in the country right now and you can't make this up, they're going to destroy us the rest of the season, the guys who signed a deal also continue to fall. their recruiting rankings aren't good and of course Doug Abrams wasn't going to land so all I can hope for is some fluky results and you'll see we beat Georgetown the first time we played them and the second time we did.
i saved the worst team in ncaa basketball
If they did that well somehow, they could be worse than us and we'd get another win this season every time we faced Providence, so I guess maybe we weren't as good, but we tripled the number of wins. Paul came into real life and I think we're going to get eliminated in the first round of the tournament, but if not, we might have to jump into a game at some point. We'll keep it a little close to Hall, but they moved away. so we got eliminated in the first round, but we beat Providence who ended up winning the Big East conference tournament, if anything, that gives me hope for our future and we only had two good players on this roster, but Chico Carter Junior He's a senior and we sent six teams. into the tournament, Kraton would be among the final four, but in the end Arizona beat Kentucky for the national championship and this Midwest region was packed with Kentucky, Houston, Purdue and Connecticut.
However, it's time for verbal agreements and I think we are going to sign every single player that is here, so now we just have to hope they are good, obviously we are losing a lot of talented seniors and Keandre Young entered the transfer portal . He was a junior and he wasn't any good anyway, so he's free to go and it's about Once we see what all our signings are in general, it looks like we have a lot of 72s and 71s, which is not bad, but we still have two scholarships after losing a transfer and apparently the only kids who want to come to our school now are two. stars or worse, after scrolling around a bit I would find some three stars and I think it would be better to send scholarships to all of them and see which players really want to come to our school visits are going to cost us a lot. a lot since none of these players are close and we have the two worst guards, but at least we have more prospects.
I've never signed a recruiting class with 10 players before and he actually finished second in our conference, but that's just because of how we have a lot of prospects and both guards are in their 70s, what I think I'm going to do is make sure that as many As many freshmen as possible see the court this season and then for a couple of them that don't, I'm just going to go ahead and redshirt them so they don't lose a year of eligibility, that could lead to some guys transferring. and these team monkeys and the projections have never been accurate, so I never know what to believe what schools really are and says we are one being.
I don't know how we would make that jump since this is a pretty similar roster to what we had last season, but if we can do better on Sim it will be perfect and I still don't. I don't know how I like to split them up, our team is deep and we don't have scholarships available so we'll be stuck with all these guys for at least the next 2 years and after preseason training I think I'll adjust our starting lineup out by Elijah Fiser. The first eight guys you'll see here are all freshmen and there are a lot of them that can't shoot threes.
If you've seen my style of play in previous rebuilds, you know it's not a The good thing is that I hope we can get some wins and finally it was against Georgia Tech, where we also beat Wyoming. I would also like to say that it is a shame that we cannot recruit, but the only player who wants to do so. When I come to our school, I would go after Grant Cardio and I don't really understand how monkeys work in reconstructions, they never seem to be accurate. George Mason shouldn't be taller than us, but he expected us to at least beat them.
I'm on the road and the only thing I can really do for the rest of this season is just Sims since there's no reason for us to recruit and we're just going to wait for all of our players to develop. I'm seeing more and more W. which is kind of surprising, especially since one of them was against Cincinnati, but I can't complain and look how we finished the month of December. I know there are a lot of ranked teams in our conference, but coming into the conference we're sitting at 9 and 7, so if we pull off some upsets maybe we'll boost the prestige of our team and the game by saying our media poll ranking is 180 , which doesn't seem like a good sign of what's to come, but our two big boys are having fantastic seasons. and I'm probably going to make a conference tournament this year just to see how our freshman group plays now that we're facing better teams.
I see a lot of L's, but Georgetown is always someone we can beat. and our defense has improved to B+. We played like this against Kraton but we didn't score as many points and I know Marquette is a top five team so I didn't think we would beat them and it looks like we are close to the bottom of this Conference standings, we would only win one game in the month of February, so as you'd probably expect, if I scroll down to the bottom of the rankings, we're only above Georgetown. Bob Metf also fell off a cliff but I think it's because the game adjusted our lineup and it makes me so angry that the junior was getting minutes over a rookie who looked so promising, if we want to make the NCA tournament we're going to have to win four games in a row and I really don't see that happening with this roster because apparently our total has now dropped and after starting so well we got beat.
I wanted to play the freshman, but they wouldn't have done well and it looks like Connecticut won the Big East. Good for them, they will get only one spot, but we are still not going to include that many universities in the tournament. I want Paul's department to be at the best and apparently Nebraska won against UCLA so that's crazy to me and We're not going to have any verbal agreement what's a little worrying is the player transferring and it seems like he's just there is one but he should go because Jaden Henley wasn't even on our stat sheet once, that will give us a chance.
Pick up a recruit but the guys that want to come here aren't the best and I've only been able to find one three star that's interested. The visits are also going to cost us a lot, so we better start having some. success soon because if not, we will continue to get worse if the recruitment goes wrong and we have a chance to get Richard Wallace. The problem is that as the weeks have passed we have run out of points and we are still not one of the first, so we did not sign anyone, but our players will continue to develop throughout this reconstruction and we must take these advances of the season with a pimple attack because he says Yukon is a b, but that's what he said last season and then they moved up to a tournament berth, our actual grade might not be that bad and might improve too, as everyone will focus on improving their shots, especially the starters.
I'm also excited to have three scholarships available, but maybe not because all these prospects look like there are two stars and we have to get a center, but the highest one that is interested in coming here is ranked 7 11. Well, I was a little fool I was just looking for channeling. When you go through all the recruits, there will be some better ones. prospects that show up like vau and rot WD, but at center we still don't have anyone to pursue and I'm no longer excited about this recruiting class. The second best player is a 58 point guard and I'm glad to see our team overall. is a Unless as the players continue to develop, we might have a chance to make it to the NCA tournament and recruiting is very simple in this game, all I am going to do is offer these players a scholarship since we are close to top of their board, which is probably all I have to do to make them commit to exhaustion, but we've only lost one game this season and we're going to get another win, our schedule is terrible, but we're 6 and one, and these three guys have I signed him to Paul, but then this Center ended up jumping this one in the recruiting rankings on signing day.
I'm probably just going to say he can't come to our school, we lose to the Cardinals and I'm seeing a lot more. L appears on our calendar, so we're probably back to reality. However, I will definitely agree to sit at 10th and 6th place before the game in Big East, because even if our ranking is not high yet, our roster is developing and there is a chance that we could win these first two games, we beat Georgetown but lose with the seat and Hall. What I'm starting to learn is that Georgetown is like the only team in the Big East that we can beat, but then I saw that we beat Marquette by six and that's a big deal for us since they're ranked number five in the country.
I don't understand why our schedule has so few conference games, although you can see there are only five left in the year we got another win and we may have a decent berth in the Big East conference tournament and beat Butler by one point means we're 15th and 14th, so we could finish above 500 for the first time in this rebuild, but we still came in second to last in our conference, which makes me angry and we've never beaten Z , but I'm going to try and I told everyone that Elijah Fiser was going to be good, but all these other players have really weird stats.
The problem we're running into is that the computer keeps changing our lineups based on what I earned and after fixing it like putting in players like redshirt freshman Malcolm Morehead, it's time to see how much these young players can do against a good team. equipment. Bob Goalhe's definitely taken a step back, but that's because they took him out of the starting lineup and next season he's going to be our best player on this roster, eventually Elijah Fiser is going to have to graduate and we're going to have an open opportunity that we drain, so I'll certainly take that and they do not think. we can shoot threes, that's very disrespectful to defend a point guard like that, but it is true that Jarrett has 69 threes and will have to drive to the basket to score an and one, as far as Leon made this free throw.
He does it and I didn't expect that from him because of our first recruiting class, we have a lot of very young players on this roster, which is exciting, but at the same time the lack of experience sometimes shows with all the turnovers we have. and that was such a silly mistake that it will lead them to increase their advantage. I've been trying to narrow it down. I ask Fisher to see if he can get it in and sometimes he can, but we're not the team we need in this rebuild. I like to shoot a lot of threes and right now we just turn it over before we can. even do that, so we're going to have to keep improving on that and even if Rd is really holding us down right now, we still have to be able to put up more points than this guy, Elijah Fischer, can really do it all for us. but they just crushed it, so we have to do a better job offensively and unfortunately they're going to foul us.
I think we're going to be losing at the half, but there are some positives we can take advantage of. away from this very young Depal team and why would he shoot a three-pointer with our center? I wasn't really thinking about that, but we have to put the ball up and Fisher is going to miss, so it's clear why we're down by two points. and we should be shooting much better than 40% from the field, here we go, our freshman guard is going to drain him from deep and then we'll force the steel so now we can really put pressure on Xavier if we don't lose him.
I'm not a fan of that turnover either but they didn't handle this transition well and just shot a three, there's no reason they should have done that but we need to respond and I'll tell you in the future this depal team. It could make some noise for us, but we don't get the rebound and Xavier goes back by one until we shoot this and it's going to go down. We were so unlucky with that and our chance of making it to the NCA tournaments is at stake so there is only one person who should have it in this situation, he has been Paul Basketball's best player for a few years and his selflessness could cost us .
Xavier would commit a foul to get a five-point lead over us and we have to do it. We're within one possession, but shots aren't really falling with this team and Morehead is our best three-point shooter, so I have to trust him. We needed that shot badly, but it doesn't even seem to make a difference because Xavier would just score. one of yours and can we answer if you get another cube? We're in a lot of trouble but that block gives me a little hope and please drain it by playing on the hardest difficulty is another thing that makes this Rebuilding is hard because I haven't learned to shoot that well yet and I can't believe that we scored that triple and then forced the steel.
We actually still have a small chance in this game. Fiser should have this in his hands but he misses and the Musketeers are pushing him to the middle even though they should be running out of time, this is March Madness, anything crazy could still happen to Depal and my hope is that we can force a steal or something I don't want to send. We got them to the line and we made it with 6 seconds left on the clock. Now we have to get an open three-point shot and we could have it in the corner with our point guard, who is going to miss, and Xavier.
We will survive if we improve at shooting. I like what this team could do and it looks like Marquette ended up being the best school in this conference, we beat them this year finishing 15th and 15th and I love keeping up with the Big East conference because that helps us in recruiting and Butler came to the final four, but would lose to Iowa, who then lost to UCLA in the championship. As for our verbal agreements, I still can't see the monkeys in it, but I know we probably don't want a two star. The center and I have no choice but to hire him because we need him, on top of that once again someone is transferring point guard Derek Le which frees up a scholarship but there is only one three star who cares about that and that's Tom Roberts. the 156th best player in the class, he only averaged 13 points per game in high school and we don't need another guard, but he's such an easy player that I know he'll commit, so we signed him anyway and I hope he ends up being better . that this center with a 65 overall, that's frustrating to see, but at least Tom Roberts has a 73 and I have decided to redshirt both him and Von rutage, the freshman, there are also players like point guard Colin Rollins that I would love to take out another year. and I know the overall results aren't accurate, but we're supposed to be the fifth best team in the Big East, so I'm really excited for our Juniors team, especially because once again, the only thing they're going to work on is how Well, they throw the ball because of our junior class, we only have one scholarship available, but that's completely fine because the player with the highest overall ranking that is interested in coming here is ranked 349th in his class.
I don't think we're going to hire any of these. guys, but I'll make sure we at least look into them and it looks like none of our players on a list have progressed in the break above 80 overall yet, but that's completely fine, we seem to be decent on paper and maybe just maybe this can be the season we finally get back to the NCA tournament, that's my hope, we're 3 and 0 in the battle for Atlantis and I've never heard of Southeast Louisiana so I would be very upset if they eliminated us of the first. round of this preseason tournament, but it seems like they are capable of putting up a very good fight against our squad and they pulled away, maybe I shouldn't have set my expectations too high for this team because there are some embarrassing losses, but like last year, Mark Zimmerman actually became a three-star and we're the first to get bored, but in high school in New Mexico he averages 5.7 points per game before offering this kid a scholarship.
I want to watch his game film, see what it's all about, and by the time we finish this slate of five games in 6 days, we'll have those results, so I'm excited to see them. I should also point out that right now we're sitting at 12 and 3, so we're doing better, but our RPI is at 224 and that's what the one week schedule will do for you. Mark Zimmerman is now averaging 7.8 points per game, but he wants to turn pro after one season. Hate to break it to you, man, but those statistics in New Mexico. I'm not going to be enough and I'm only going to offer you a scholarship, but I promise you that if he commits, he will redshirt and at our school in Five Seasons he has decided to sign with Depal, but we'll see where. his ranking goes and coming into the conference we have the fifth best record in the conference, but there are three teams in the top three and there are also eight ranked teams.
There's a reason I said it's going to be very difficult to rebuild Paul because the Big East is a very difficult conference and I'm not sure we've won a single game up to that point. Well, I take that back, we also played Georgetown, so you know we're on top there, but every year we play in the conference. It has this finish near the end and it looks like this Centro 611 was converted to a three star so we could have used it too. I wish we could free up another scholarship, but we can't and I just simulated it until the end of the season where we beat Marquette again, but I don't think we're going to get any other amazing results, but maybe we did.
I would say beating Villanova is impressive since they are ranked number three in the country, but Marquette fell. and we're at the bottom of the standings, this might be the highest seed we've ever had in the conference tournament, but we don't have a path to go far because if we somehow win, the next spot will be Yukon with only one seat. and I just want Depal to start having some success, so it's good to see us in the next round, but I know this team is not built to make the tournament, our RPI ranking is at 126, but maybe when we have a lot of seniors.
In the starting lineup we are going to make a good push and I can't believe what I'm seeing: we are competing very well with the Huskies, even if in the end we are going to lose this game by eight points, that is our signal to bet all year that comes they would end up winning the Big East conference tournament and of course they would get a berth but Villanova did too and we were tied with the most teams in the tournament by a conference now I don't know what happened after that because Nova didn't make the final four and Connecticut didn't make the elite eight, so almost anyone could have won a championship, but it ended up being Purdue Over Texas and all.
I'm happy with a bun 18 and 14, though especially seeing as Metf scored almost 20 points a game and was fifth for defensive player of the year, so maybe he can win it as a senior, since for our only recruit, I'm just going to sign. Mark Zimmerman, but unfortunately Tom Roberts from last year's class is gone and I guess he shouldn't have broken it up. I'm going to do my best to try to find a replacement for that scholarship, but Theo Bowen only has two stars and I don't even want to do this, the only reason I did it is because we're about to have seven seniors. year and there are actually eight, which will mean that there will be so many scholarships available.
This class was also disgusting with a 67 and a 69 overall and I think I need to redshirt senior Carl Rice just to have someone else around if we want to make the tournament we need our starting lineup to continue to improve because although this may Saying we're going to finish fifth in the conference is never accurate and we have only so many scholarships to give out, the problem is I don't want to recruit anyone unless they're ranked 300 or lower and there were three players that fit that but they're all escorts, so I had to break that rule just to add some other positions.
I feel like I have no choice but to postpone our main recruiting period until the end where I hope this roster can give us some wins and with four of our starting five being seniors, my expectations are pretty high, but before we finish this rebuild, a few words from the sponsor of today's Raycon video. basketball

we have spent a lot of time building this team the best we can and they destroyed Valpro with something really good. I've played a lot of NCA

basketball

recently and I've never seen a result like that, but we keep adding win after win and this team could be special after beating Dayton.
We made it to the finals battle in Atlanta, so this is the furthest we've gone in a preseason tournament, and for a while we stopped getting invites. them because we were performing so poorly, but this was just an easy beatdown going into this game against Alabama, we were sitting at 7-0 and we just destroyed them, but it did say that their overall was a c minus, so they're struggling and the fact that it is true. Now, compared to other teams in our conference, we are one of only two undefeated teams. I'm very happy that we are getting closer and closer to being in the top 25, but our schedule is probably not the best, so we have to do it.
We continue to get good results and our streak has continued throughout December with another victory against theBuffalo Bills. I'm pretty sure it's actually Howard and another HBCU that we're going to beat, so before we play Arizona we're 16 and 0 and believe it or not, this is our first top 20 matchup of this rebuild because we They ranked 25th. We're not supposed to get the Big East automatic bid yet, but if the season ended now we'd have one overall. and I just remembered that I forgot about recruiting. I've been enjoying our success so much that I haven't pursued any of these three star guards and one thing I'm really going to do this season is scout as many of the players as I can, but I can't do it for the best because it's too far away from Illinois. .
Now we just have to figure out if we're going to be Arizona or not and I think it's going to come down to On Cable we had home field advantage but we lost, that's unfortunate because it looks like it's going to knock us out of the top 25, but I still hope it does. let's do pretty well in conference and after a loss to Butler we're going to get another one against Villanova so Georgetown is our game to bounce back and get a good result as Yukon isn't ranked right now so this could be one where we can actually come out victorious and I have a 27 point lead in the second half so if we blow it from here I would be very upset now it looks like after scouting these guys the only players we are going to want get are these escorts. and I don't know how to change player positions in NCA basketball, so we will go after them all and offer scholarships.
Andrew Richer, the best one might also be hard to come by, so it's a good thing we still have 49 points left to try and throw him at us and now we play. Number three in Providence in back-to-back games, depending on how this goes, we could get back into the top 25 or start to fall and our RPI ranking is 37, so the more we lose, the harder it will be for us to get to the tournament. and I know it would be a good loss to lose to Providence twice but we might as well clinch the NCA tournament and it looks like they are just going to pull away in this one as for the rematch our home field advantage seems to have paid off quite a bit good but unfortunately it wouldn't be enough to get us back into the top 25 and I think Yukon is still good because for our recruiting class all three guards signed for depal and these are four really tough games that We're going to decide how we finish in the conference against Marquette, it's not even going to be close, but Kraton is as good as we are, so I could see the Blue Jays taking us down, they didn't and we beat Marquette for the second time by one.
The game left in the season part of me feels very confident in this team because we have been on a roll recently and we are going to make the tournament no matter what we are also prepared for a first round in the conference. tournament and I really don't want to lose any of these scholarships for lower recruits, but just to make sure we have another Power Forward on the roster, I'm going to give it to this one and I don't know why David Allen would ever have done that. with eyes on the pros, he's ranked 450th in his class and there are only about 400 people in the NBA so he probably won't get there and we finished third in the conference which means we passed our first round in the Big East tournament and Butler beat us earlier in the year, but I have confidence in our team right now and I shouldn't have because they beat us by 15 points.
We'll see how that affects our seats with Providence winning it all. Villanova, but that's fine with me because we are one of their two losses and we are the 7th seat on the KY side of the bracket, once again we have put the most teams in the tournament for our conference and the selection program us has on the list. as potential sleepers, but that would require not losing to 10-seat Veron, and for a school their size, I can't believe they got such a good seed. I also have more good news as Bob Metcafe is averaging a double double and Solo Junior who is starting for us is our top scorer but other than him the only other players on this list who will be on the team next year they average less than two points per game, so if we are going to make a run with Depal it has to be now after this season.
I think it will take us a few more years to get back to this position and I know Kuy already beat WKU, but we should still be able to compete with them because we play in the Big East. and the Vermont point guard is actually 5'7, so this should be fun. I think we're going to have a big size advantage and I'm going to try to double team him, which will take us on a dime and they're on. Vermont is still scoreless in this game and I know we have a shooter on the team so all of our threes have to go through more heads, but we can also get points in other ways if "This steal and in transition we can close it out.
We have some players specials in this squad again. We are going to pick their pockets and it is too easy. This team's defense has been on another level all season and it helps them." They're not shooting that well, they're going to throw a good pass here, but they're going to get blown out, so it's been a struggle for them all game and we're going to find our point guard, who's going to block it even though I tried to develop Jared. . he's never been able to shoot threes so maybe we have to work low and then kick it to our small forward, that'll keep him honest H.
I don't think I've ever dominated a game in NCA Basketball like this and if I have In fact, it hasn't been on this difficulty because they always find a way to get points and we're going to crush it again every time you play a defense like this, your chance to make a deep run is very good, but of course, eventually they were going to find a way to score points and really left Jarrett open. I guess they did. He normally doesn't score them, but he did in that situation and by the end of the first half we should be up by nine. but Vermont is going to have one more possession against us and I don't know what happened, we got a little mixed up defensively and we should probably go up by three, so that will make the score 15-5 and I love playing against that. short point guard at 5'7, hasn't done much so far, we should have blocked that before he even got up but we didn't and metf is going to get a double team where Jared will give it back to him and this time.
I think we're just going to try to hang in there and hope for the best with four minutes left in the half. Now they are going to take this and miss, so we have it in transition and that will lead to an open three point shot because we didn't hit them well, although we are seeing quite a bit of struggle and I can't believe we came out with another block that will lead to a open triple in the corner that was just perfectly set up and I don't know what Vermont wants to do, we're turning down literally everything, there's no reason to rush either, but they're just giving us open opportunities so we're handling this perfectly as the top seed . on this and Kentucky should take some notes on how to handle these tournament games and they still don't get the bucket.
I honestly feel really good about depal right now and it looks like they are going to fall low again but it just doesn't work for them to dribble the rest of the time to win a tournament game is always a good feeling and we are going to have to face to my madness with Paul, but if we play like this it is a game that can be won. I should also point out that Sean Hall as the 11th seed surprised Miami to move on as well so I hope they do the same against Houston because if we get past Kentucky I'd rather play them and here on the wild cat's first possession .
We're going to get the block, but they'll get the ball back again and make it. That will be the difference when we face a team like Vermont versus Kentucky, but we achieved the goal. triple that I can't get out of the pick and that falls outside the basket. I'm also a little worried that Malcolm Morehead might go to the NBA a little early because he had a good year and there's a chance he carries So far in the tournament, I have to make all of our free throws and I'm trying to steal from the wild cats. , but they throw an Aly oop at us and miss, I've been trying to back them up. down but they are going to go for the double team.
I'm going to find Tim and that's going to shoot what a great shot for our small forward and he doesn't normally hit them, but it's a tournament we're going to. to strip them here and I don't know if we should run it now that they've come back so quickly, but Morehead was a little open there for a second and we've taken things a little slower, although it was a dirty cross. and we'll pull it down. I had no idea Tim Pageant could do that and they're going to pass him low to make a shot that we don't block.
I've ordered an iso with Morehead just because I want to. To get a three-point shot with him, I feel like I could create some momentum, but Malcolm decided to take it to the rim and they did what I wanted, that will put this game back within two points, but we do it. have an open look and I don't know how our escort missed it. Ky's been running around a little bit, which is definitely scary and I knew our offense was probably going to be an issue with this team, but we were doing really well defensively and now that we're not, we're struggling, if it weren't for Malcolm Morehead, we would have five points in this game and that mistake is big.
Kentucky had the easiest basket in the world, but now we can run. on the court. As time runs out in the half to put it at the rim, did we really make that dunk that has to be number one on Sports Center? I feel like we have a lot of momentum in this second half, so I'm going to put a three. I told everyone that Malcolm Morehead is our Difference Maker and after getting that block we are in transition running for another two points. Kentucky is starting to panic a little bit, but because things have started to accelerate, they got the easiest ball in the world and another three-pointer with another turnover, two, is going to be huge for this team.
We just need to slow down. Although I might throw it low because they're going to give us that look. and then we have a corner three, but not everything is going to go as you expected and that's another steel, they seem to keep coming, but they are going to get it back right away and you should have played it that way. much smarter than me, even though our forwards made some amazing plays in this game, he didn't need to have the ball in his hands there and with 2 minutes left we still have a two possession lead on them, but they are going to get the rebound and we blocked it, this is where you go ISO with your base and then you take it to the rim where you don't make it but you do get the rebound, so now we've been able to run even longer.
Off the clock and that cross from our guard was beautiful. Malcolm Morehead has been leading us to victory and Kuy is at the point where they should probably start shooting threes. What's with all these terrible alleys? It's going to be the reason we're just dribbling the clock as time runs out and we won that game because we forced so many turnovers. I've never had a team play defense like we do now, but I'm excited to see how deep this streak goes. can go and it looks like Houston beat Sean Hall so we're going to have to play the Cougars next, that's fine with me, we're already in the sweet 16 and if we really wanted to rebuild Paul's department, this is a race that It had to happen this season, but how did that guy get the rebound?
I mean, his point guard literally looks so small and Morehead is good at driving, but he should have never tried to make that high shot and we could have gotten the steel instead, they're going to shoot. I took it down and put it in and we haven't opened it very well against Houston, but this could be a bucket. I'll give credit to Jarrett as a point guard. He has done a very good job for us, but what do I mean? The defense just decided not to show up and once again they didn't, so this game isn't going the way we need it to if we're going to win.
I didn't mean to shoot that deep three with him, we got the rebound, but we lost it and I just hope our season doesn't end here because I still feel like we could go much further, they disrespected us for being seventh and it's probably because of our loss in conference tournament, but we're still a good team, the problem is the shots just aren't falling today and a guy who averages three points a game is shooting free throws, luckily he would miss the second one, but then we got that animation and we made it. I can't legitimately believe it.
We came in and got the rebound, so this is our chance to get it back within one possession and we're going to throw it over the top. I wanted to go underneath. Can we please give it to our best bottom player? It's frustrating when something like this happens. It happens, but then you take the steel and we are going to put it in the ring. I'm sure they're probably going to take the final shot, but I'm guessing not, so we might as well tie it up if we end up getting it right.these three and Not Now, I probably could have waited to see it better, but I didn't and we need to shoot better.
I mean, after starting really hard, we finally turned it around defensively and Metf is going to make it, so I. I'm going to let him continue to work against that Defender and at best he'll be able to kick him to the corner for a three that ties things with less than four minutes left on the clock, now any point will be valuable and they left Morehead open for three , he literally just dribbled it down the court and then stopped, but he didn't play deep and the pace on this one is starting to pick up, but that could be good for us, we're a team that can get ahead. with steals and blocks and we contested it so well that they have the team going, so we probably have to kick it and put it down again to hopefully get it in the hoop;
There are only a couple of players on this list that can be automatic, but Houston seems to have a guy that can do the same for them and time is running out on the shot clock, which could have been bad and I went for the three instead of the two and now we are behind. At two o'clock we would have had our big man open underneath, but we missed the pass and he fumbles it, that's not what you want to see in that situation, but this shouldn't go down and all of a sudden we're sitting in this game. down by two possessions so it would have been over if we hadn't made that shot now we just have to stop the defense and we do it.
I'm not sure how I want to handle this, they are going to go for the double team and that will lead to a basket, so right now Depal could be closing in on the Elite 8, we just have to play good defense for the last second and that Blocking will give us victory. The defense is crazy and we have a lot of guys that can play very well, we're not going to beat you with a bunch of three-pointers, but I'm starting to get into a rhythm with this team, so even though I don't think we have what it takes to win, I'll never know. knows what could happen in a deep NCA tournament and I'm just hoping that Purdue doesn't turn out the lights on us, but it could be a good sign that that one didn't fall for the Beasley brother, but go with the press of the whole court and what am I doing?
Why would I tell him directly? It's just muscle memory for me to instantly put it that way and Purdue scores again, so it's 6 for Zer, we have to give it to someone who can make a shot and there we go, let's at least get the rebound to put it. and if we didn't have him, things would probably start to look a little worse, they don't seem to be protecting Morehead much yet, but he's not hitting well, so it's a good thing he's rebounding and losing. Unfortunately, we still couldn't get a bucket and on defense we just can't stop them.
This is exactly the same thing that happened to Houston. We got off to a bad start and then got rid of our pregame nerves and got started. Taking some shots, we figured it out, but we're not hitting the ones we normally would and I just feel like the meta is going to have to start hitting some hooks, but we have a lot to do if we can come back. I'm going to do it in this game and he has it again where he sees Leon Jared open in the corner, which is going to be bad, it's something we've seen him hit before in these games that I've jumped on, but it just doesn't seem like be our day right now and they are pressing full court again.
This is an opportunity for an easy basket if Padet can hit this and he took us the entire first half, but we hit a three. We're going to try to do a fade, so now we've really stepped up the defense and Morehead is going to lose for us. He just threw it right at Purdue and now they're going to shoot, so we're. Going into the half down eight and they're shooting 22% better than us from the field, we're also not forcing as many turnovers as we have and we just got the block, but they got it back on us and I want to metf. go to work here but you didn't get the animation you were looking for and now we're dropping the ball.
I don't know if I need to press a back button or what, but every time we get it like this, it seems. to be able to find a way to put it in the basket and the senior just doesn't want to lose. He was able to go through that selection, they are throwing a lob to a small point guard and he is going to turn it into an eight. point game again, unlike them we haven't gotten to the line yet and I'm just trying to try good moves that had such a quick reaction that we're going to have an open three point shot and that jab step was dirty At least Let's get the steel and Jarrett, please just put this right.
We get it back in six so he's not done. Let's also force it. Release again and now I have pulled it down. I hit Morehead. In the corner and they block it, that defender knew exactly what was coming. Metf is going to miss this and that's weird for him, but Morehead is going to force the steal, so now we're running him down the court again and we've lost the ball. We have to be careful to still have a chance at this one. We've really stepped up the defense here in the second half, but we're going to have to make some free throws here and Bob Metf isn't very good at doing that.
To make them on the hardest difficulty, I need someone with like 99 free throws off the board and they've been playing really good defense, but maybe this is our chance to make it within three and we lost that was it. You're probably not going to be able to see it better than that and I don't even know if I should try to lower it. We turned the ball over, so Purdue just made one of the biggest defensive stops right there and behind it. for eight with 50 seconds left it's much harder to come back. He should have given it to Morehead all along, but they'll get him back to a 7.1 and he's in the corner again to hopefully get this done. but he doesn't, that will be enough for this game unless we pull off a miracle and that's what happens when there's only one player on a roster that can shoot, even with that we made three, we couldn't come back so let's go. going out in the Elite 8, but these seniors have elevated Paul so much and I'm really excited to see what that does in recruiting, but it looks like we lost to the national champion, well, it really sucks that we're about to lose six of our eight best players, but they're the reason we finished 28th and 7th and I'm not sure how many of these guys I should sign no matter what we'll have seven scholarships available, but I just know.
David Allen is going to be like a 67 overall and you know what we're going to take with all of them now, you'd think we'd be losing our seven graduates, but we're also going to have this Center coming in as a transfer. portal and why we only have 14 recruiting spots that better not be the case for off-season recruiting and it's not, but now we have to make sure we have a power forward and a starting center and it's pretty cool that three stars are interested in coming here. Again, that's why I didn't want to waste scholarships on some of those recruits because I knew we'd eventually get better prospects and we're of high interest to a lot of them, like this 610 power forward, so we're just going to go ahead and offer a lot of scholarships. between Gary Simmons J.R Swift Anthony Denson and John Wells.
I hope everyone accepts it and I'm a week ahead so it's time to check out where it looks like all four of you instantly chose. a Q I really wish we had more scholarships available and since we're not going to next season, I don't want to only have three scholarships available from these three seniors, so what I'm going to do is eliminate the last two players from our team and that will be everything for them. I should never have signed them in the first place. I'm also going to redshirt just because I can and we have an invite to play in the Maui Invitational. you that a single tournament is going to elevate Depal to the next level and normally with this preseason training I only put it in the headlines, but I think we should develop our reserves, there is a future and it says that we only have three scholarships available, but there should be five very soon and it's time to start looking at prospects that I want to recruit because of our finish last season, we're going to start in the top 25 and I've completely forgotten about scho Pride, but that just means that "We're going to be able to max out our gym of practice up to four, our Prestige team is also up to three and after all the training results, I have to say that I am very excited to see how this squad does, especially how it develops with some of these younger players.
All four of us prospects will probably go after there's a 58 point guard and then one that's 65, so that's a big difference and how are we as a team overall? I guess our roster definitely got worse. from last season but maybe not after beating Hawaii, we're starting this here at 2 and up and both recruits ended up being C+ overall so I'm going to decide to offer the scholarship to point guard 58 since we just signed one which is 65 I have to point it out to J.R Swift and another freshman that I'm really attracted to is center Anthony Dennison because he's 610 and 260 pounds, for all I know that kid could end up being DJ Burns 2.0 and I think we're going to continue. remain undefeated, so coming to Maui things are looking good and we had an easy matchup.
I love that they can always play in this tournament, but of course they are going to have difficulties and the department's confidence has to be through the roof. sailing right now, when we thought this season might be tough and we are also better than NC, we are on paper so I hope to see our team at the Maui Invitational Championship but it may not happen, this is a very tight finish and the Wolf. The group is going to pull away, at least they would end up losing to UCLA by a lot of points and that should tell you how good the brunes are, but how are we ranked number three?
It's not like we've really beaten anyone who is like that. So good so far and it still says we have no scholarships available so I guess these are the three players we're going to go with and we're just not going to get the 65 point guard every time you take away a player's scholarship. There will be a lull until you can offer it to someone else and somehow we still only have one loss. There have been some close games, but I would love to see it stay that way in conference play and we have to have a tougher non-conference schedule, this is starting to get ridiculous, we would even beat Grand Canyon to improve to 16-1, but our conference has five of the six best teams in the country and the Big East is as unfair as the North is.
Carolina Purdue UCLA Duke, but some of those schools haven't played many games and I was curious to see how the players are doing so far. Our Center averages a double double and then we have two players who average over 20 points per game, including the freshman. Gary Simmons, this roster is really crazy and I'm really excited to see how we do during the month of January, but Villanova outplayed us, we only beat Butler by three and luckily St John's is a team we beat easily because Providence beat . To be honest, no matter what happens here, I'm not really that worried because either way we're going to make the NCA tournament and we're still ranked number four, it seems like all these conference losses are not like that.
It's not going to affect the Big East like it has in the past and if we win these last three games in February we could have a seat in the tournament, but we just lost one to be in Hall and against Xavier we're going to win. Recovering to finish the year, we are going to face number five Connecticut for third place in our tournament and somehow our overall ratings now dropped, so I was afraid that we would have to deal with an injury and that Colin Rollin would be out for a time. A little bit behind him we have 58 Junior Jason Underwood who could take over, but I also want to give J.R Swift some minutes and if that's the reason we lose this game, it's all my fault, he played pretty poorly, that's how it was and it means that Actually, we're going to finish here ranked number five in our conference, but that's still enough to get us into the first round in the Big East tournament and us and the friar are neck and neck.
Whoever wins will probably be the fourth seed in In the NCA tournament and with Roland back we won by two, so we would have Marquette between us for a spot in the Conference Championship, but I think we split our season series against them or maybe not, they have destroyed us in this matchup that maybe we will never win the Big East tournament in this rebuild, but I don't think it's that important because the only thing that matters is how we do in the NCA tournament and they have Providence at the top of series, so I expect the same from us in this region. but I never saw Depal and I must have missed us in a previous group.
We are in the Midwest and we are a fourth place as I thought, so we should be IUPUI without problems, but beforestart the tournament just want to cover our season stats, we only had one player finish with over 20 points per game as a freshman and I thought Gary Simmons would win the freshman of the year award, but it was for this one Colgate kid named Big East Player of the Year, Malcolm Morehead. I didn't win it as coach of the year. I came in as the fourth defensive player of the year, we had Dennison at number five and then of course we got freshman of the year, but I was taken aback that Malcolm Morehead wasn't leading the team. points per game and I thought we could fake this because we are a higher seed, but it was a little closer than I would have liked now that we are in the next round against Kansas State because they were able to beat Jackson State and This team has a lot of players new guys, but he should still be able to make a deep run because we got our best player back and there's Malcolm Morehead.
Kansas State would score on their first possession but they will try to respond and he is all I can expect from a player, all I need is someone who can make threes from almost anywhere and redshirting him for an extra year was definitely worth the Too bad, we have someone open underneath and here we go, that's our 260 pound center who's not going to get away with the block, but I'm not too worried about that, he's a freshman, he doesn't need to be that good yet and we They are giving a lot of space. Morehead is going to start hitting them at some point. point they are not and in the transition path our forward will return the ball for a long three-point shot.
I feel like he is the key to our success in this tournament and every time we left him last season we started To fight now, he has another chance to get a basket, but since he didn't get it, Kansas State will undershoot it and miss. This has been a very fast game so far and this is a perfect example, but it wasn't a perfect example. how to make a layup and there's a block now Morehead will take it down the court and shoot a three and even if they're not falling our defense is solid so we should be fine we're not going to need many of them get a win and It seems like they've found the open space, so if Kansas State wants to beat us, they're going to have to find an answer and Colin Rollins is the leader.
Actually, I redshirt him just like I did with Morehead, which we needed since that first recruiting class was so big that we got him down to a few seconds left on the shot clock and missed, we should probably let one of our two first year big men try to go. To work, at some point they are going to get this right and at the half that will make it a one point game. Our offense has really only been three-point shooting, but I should let Dennis try to back someone off and see what he does. I can do here I was afraid that wouldn't go well but we're going to try to force the steel and they raise a three that just drilled us in the eye they're also going to knock down that pass from the major and please feed it underneath I think this team is much better than Kansas State, but maybe not and I think this new point guard just isn't good at getting steals, that's a key quality I like to look for in guards because I try to force a lot of them. and we better make sure or we'll find ourselves eliminated in round 32, that three point shot just got cut, but we're going to get the steal and after coming out of this pick, I hope Morehead can. just make this three point shot, there's still a few minutes left in the half, we're playing good defense and they're going to take it down, but I love seeing that from our freshman power forward and come on, tell me.
What we should probably also take for the lead Morehead feels himself and every time he hits like that he's one of the best players, but that hasn't stopped Kansas State from having him one inning away and they get the steel I'm not with glad. that will also lead to transition points and Morehead could take a three here, but he will feed it under Simmons, instead of who puts it in, it was a great pass from the senior to the freshman, now we're going to deflect it. and Malcolm Morehead is going to have it again this time with an ISO and he's going to commit the foul.
I should be able to make both free throws but we're going to need a good shot and that's the 13th minute. We now have a lead on Kansas State that they're going to miss and once again it's in Morehead's hands, there's only about 7 seconds left in shot clock, but I hope he makes a three here and I Honestly, I was going for the game that wasn't the best look now that Kansas State is up by one, but he should be able to make it and he's stepping up when we need him to. . I feel bad about the type of offense we have. he ran near the end of the last tournament so I'm going to put this game completely in his hands and Bob Rice has yet to miss a free throw so I think we're going to have the final shot since it will be tied.
The interesting thing is that they seem to be pressing here and we need to call a timeout because I knew Roland couldn't shoot and Morehead can come in, that would have put us in the sweet 16, but instead we are in overtime against Kansas State. and I'll let Dennis go to work here where they're trying to force him to steal, we're going to have Rollins open and this is a bad shot. I know we can't make them, but we're going to get a steal anyway and he can give a pass to Morehead who has an open three, but he's not going to make it and they're going to make a basket, we have to stop fooling around and start to score some points, but I do. that and I'm not really a fan of using Rollins as a point guard, they'll get the rebound too, but we SWAT him and that's exactly why you have 2610 big men, he had a decent pass there, but we're not going to do that. put it on the first time and not on the second either, but we got the rebound again and please do it.
I have to say that Simmons is a beast at power forward. I don't know how he didn't get the robbery the first time. but he did it the second time and I hope he hits him. He's trying to be the reason we won this game. We also got another steel and you know what a transition three-point shot has to be. It may not have worked, but Rutage grabbed the rebound and then throws it in, so we're starting to run against Kansas State and this is the depal basketball I'm used to playing. I like to feed it down. our big men and then kick out our shooters and we've forced the Wildcats to make so many mistakes in this game that it just went off the rim and Simmons is so fast that all of a sudden we're up by seven points against them. and they just haven't been able to put anything at the rim, so let's close it out and get to the Sweet 16 again is a good feeling and Gary Simmons is a player of the game for us, but you have to give him credit too.
Malcolm Morehead because he scored 23 of our points and that came on almost 50% shooting, but it might be tough for us to beat UCLA because they've already beaten us once this year and they're averaging 91 points per game. I know how we're going to be able to accomplish this, but I would love to get to the elite eight and on their first possession we've been blocking the defense pretty well, they're going to have to do something. early and they do but they missed it that was an open look too so they probably should have made it and we need Malcolm Morehead to drain those shots because that's how we're going to have a chance in this game against the Brunes.
Our freshmen big men seem so dominant that the problem is that we are struggling to get through until we set up for three here and what we really need to do is work from the bottom to see if we can put up points that way. It's been a couple of days since I last played this file, so I've completely forgotten how we got to this point, but I do remember doing a lot of triples with Malcolm Morehead and you won't be able to stream them. Low, the defense on this team has been crazy, but we're not draining threes and we're not making that work either, so this has become a low-scoring battle against them and we got too nervous on defense. but we should have this three point shot and get angry.
I didn't even know he was left handed but we're going to force the steal with our point guard he's trying to run the floor and that's going to lead to a layup now it's 7 on 2 and they're going to have room to make this shot but just like us , they're shooting pretty bad and they left Morehead open, you know, we're playing really well against this seed right now, let's get a block here hopefully and I don't know how we didn't get that, but we're going to go hard on the freshman and lose that's very unfortunate, but we almost got another steal against UCLA and after our good start, they put up four points in a row as well as getting the steel, but we're still going to get it back with Malcolm Morehead, he saves it in bounds and now we can run it down the court where I think we're just going to take it out here.
I didn't want to force a bad look, so I finally found a good one and even if they made two free throws on their next possession, we're still doing great. They believe that this full-court pressure is going to work against them. us, but there's no way I'm going to do it, let's run down, throw it under and how it worked. Gary Simmons literally just gave that ball to himself, but we have to be careful with how many short jumpers they've taken. The blow was disgusting, but they don't like defending Malcolm at all. Things would have looked a lot better if he could have hit a couple more threes, but it's not like we're shooting terribly and it would be nice if I could find a way to pull away from the Brunes in the second half.
It's really good that he's starting to figure out how to use the big man too, but sometimes we still don't get our rebounds and they're not going to score. the charge we just made to put this one. I couldn't tell you how that wasn't an offensive foul, but our two 610 players aren't the best at free throws, so I'll probably miss it at some point, but come on. force the steel with our small forward and point guard and that will be another two men, the defense on this Dall team is crazy, Rolland keeps digging into his pockets and what's even better is that Malcolm Morhead is so open, but it doesn't matter.
We could have finished this game and been in the elite eight if we had shot a little better, but instead they called the foul on us and we were lucky they didn't give them the basket, but instead made them shoot it. instead, apparently the foul was before they shot it there, so now we have it back and UCLA better start panicking because right now we're locking them in and are you kidding me? At least it only counts as a double and I don't. I don't know what the refs called here, but it was huge because time was running out on the shot clock and we just turned it around.
I can't believe UCLA went back there, but we should get a block that we normally do in these situations and we didn't do it there, but the rim hasn't been on their side and I know Rutage can hit this. Imagine if we could make those shots fall too. I mean, if that were the case, this wouldn't even be a competition right now. and they're going to hold us back, but we got the rebound with Gary Simmons and boy, we kept giving UCLA opportunities and we even got the block there, but they got it back, so it's a three-point game with one minute.
They're gone and we just have to get them back, if UCLA doesn't score a three or at least a two, they're in trouble here and I left their guard open, that should have been a three point shot, but they didn't do it. Take it, so we've been lucky and I haven't let Malcolm Morehead have the ball as much as he should, all we've done is reduce the time on the shot clock and then take a good look at this too, so He just It got us closer and I thought we were years away from a championship, but it's still possible we can win it with this team now.
I don't love that we allowed a triple, but we can win. one of the best teams in the country, so we can beat anyone else in this tournament and I honestly don't think the brunos are going to be able to foul us enough before we just dribble the rest of the time. I couldn't make my free throw, so that's really important and now we're going to be in the top eight because six-seeded Montana lost to Arizona, we're going to have to play them next, but we'll probably run into each other. Tough matchups like this and our defense could still stop them as for Elite 8 these are all the teams left and in their starting lineup they have a 57 point guard compared to Colin Rollins he really doesn't look that small but That It was a dirty block and it was a stupid shot because of this size difference.
I almost want to put our freshman point guard in right now because he's so much taller and I think that would cause the Wildcats to have a lot of problems, but even without us doing that, they're already struggling because we've blocked them twice and Colin Rolland was the He got a lot of steals in the last game, so I'm not going to try to make asubstitution, but he can't leave it. Things like that happen, but we get him on the court quickly and they will give it back to his little point guard, who committed the foul.
If the goal is 10 feet, it's literally like half the size, but it would force a steal and this guy in the corner will probably just try to give it back to him, so I'll get in the way and what I'm doing is not the defense we've been doing. playing for the rest of this year, but I also haven't shot that well from the three-point arc and we're getting a steal. We have forced three turnovers in this game and they go with the double team, so Rolands could make these three, but our point guard never hits them. like that and he has already given another basket to that tiny guard after hitting the triple.
I'd like to see how Jr Swift does because he's 65 and we just need to make more stops like this. I'm even calling a timeout for I put the freshman in and I know he didn't do so well on Sim for us, but he already turned around when he was thrown to guard and that will lead to a transition block, enough funny for this to be such a Great defensive play, it got out of their legs so we're actually getting the ball back and all we've gotten in this game so far is three. Look at the size difference here, although we have 65 versus 57 and if we don't. win this year.
I'll be very excited to see how J.R Swift develops. He just robbed us and he too will receive assistance. Maybe putting it in wasn't a mistake. I feel like he can block that guy. better than anyone and they're just going to go with the fade look which will never work in that situation and I know he can shoot threes too so we may have found our new starting point guard here at Elite 8. and come on of course , instead of blocking him, we fouled him and we're going to hold on to this house's last shot, since we're up by 11: we just need to keep our lead, but I immediately turn it around. to Arizona and now I'm worried that we're about to miss a basket here, we just have to make sure we get our hands up and Morehead made up for his mistake.
It's hard to believe we are shooting 89% from the field. but it's also hard to remember the moments we've missed in this game and if they're going to continue double teaming someone always has to be open, it just takes a while to find them, there's only 7 seconds left on the clock. I haven't done it yet so Morhead had to put this in and come on we can't block our shots like that although we almost managed to steal that one and Arizona has it inside nine but then they let Malcolm Morehead put it in there really isn't nothing they can do, we're just throwing well and it's just me or that ball looks a little deflated.
I don't know why, but I've thought about it. It seemed a little strange in this matchup and we almost made this deal with J.R Swift, but we didn't and this had to be a much better pass with such a big lead in the first half, all we have to do is make sure that I still keep him and I don't care if Jr Swifts barely played this season because from what I've seen today Colin Rollins has lost his starting job when it comes to driving he's not the best but I love having a guard on the outside.
There he can shoot threes there too and that was a really good pass so I'm going to focus on closing out the rest of this one and with 90 seconds left they put their reinforcements in one thing I'm going to do is make sure that I take out J.R Swift and put in Colin Rolland just because he's a more experienced senior, but that's just to make sure we don't waste him and we still could because after some Miss free throws, they're going to get better. these three that don't hit but they are going to put it back on top and we get the block there is nothing better than knowing that we are going to the final four because there is simply no way they can come back at this point in the game at least as long as Colin Rollins hits his free throws, which he needs and in the end would send us to the next round.
I didn't realize how legit this depal team was, but when we shoot like this there's no stopping. us and here in the last four we played Purdue, but now we are used to facing top level opponents and if we are going to win a championship we have to do it two more times, all that is left now is a seed and it seems that Purdue It's a lot higher than some of the other teams we've played. I also have to make sure I take out Colin Rollins and put in Jr Swift because we are going to need his size in this game and he already is.
Honestly, I'm really proud that we were able to recruit him last season, but they almost had an open look at three and I have to be happy with my team with how we're playing. I mean, we either force a ton of steals or a ton of blocks and we should have picked up that loose ball in that situation, but instead Purdue gets the and-one and that's the kind of game it's going to be, we're not going to get lucky. in all our confrontations. but they have to be a little smarter because once Morehead starts taking those shots we are going to score a lot of points and that was a fantastic move, well we are already down 5-nil in this one, but I saw what good defense. and the triples can do in our last matchup and every time you use this jab step, they seem to back away a lot, so I'm going to see if that can separate us enough.
J.R Swift couldn't make that one and then gave our small forward his second foul of the game, so we have to be careful, something I never thought I'd say in 5-minute quarters, but we're fighting. UCLA must have been the weaker seed in this tournament compared to some of the others and they will get the rebound here as well, but our main problem has been the offensive side of things and we just have to pass this on to Jr Swift with shots like that He's no JR Smith, but the steal is going to hopefully lead to a bucket and they're playing deep so well right now.
Purdue is beating us at our own game, but we forced them to lose and since they are so good in transition, I'm just going to shoot a deep 3-pointer in retrospect. We could have seen a lot better than what we just did in that situation, but we got the block there and they say the referees are on the produced side like they are in real life, so NCA Basketball 10 was ahead of its time and We just needed someone who made a shot that gave us a little bit of offensive momentum but they called the offensive foul.
This is legitimately one of the worst performances we've had even though our defense is still playing very well and what we're doing, I don't understand. How we could have forced five turnovers and been down that far, but they just hit a 360 and I think this will be the end of the Blue Demons Run if it wasn't for those two threes we would be down. so many points and they make it up again so even with our two guys 610 we are being outrebounded right now and Purdue played a near perfect first half but they finally failed that's huge because now there are 6 seconds left and Swift is going to fail , but we're not completely out of it yet because we're going to shoot much better than 22% from the field in the second half.
Eventually we'll have to start draining some of these shots like hopefully this one, and we don't. but I'm going to keep putting them in because I have some hope and Moree will come out and hopefully the transition will come. I've been waiting for that for a couple of minutes, but we left them open a little bit and I still got the rebound, that's happened like four times in this game right now, but I don't care, there's a player we're here for and if Our run is going to end now, he needs to get the ball. More than anyone, we also have to take advantage of opportunities like that and I just wish we were a little better shooting free throws with our big men.
Now the pressure is really starting to ramp up as we're struggling to come up with defensive stops against Purdue, but with that ball coming off the rim, we get it back and what are we doing? I can't believe how many mistakes we've made in this game, but returning her there weren't any of them and I'm trying to push her down. court but we miss again normally we are very dangerous in transition but they recover quickly against us and I think that is the reason why we are going to lose this game against Purdue by stopping our style of play, they are literally the perfect matchup. and going down by 11 with 2 minutes and 17 seconds left doesn't seem too good to us, that three-point shot is recovered with an eight, but they're just not giving us the steel animation so far and you know what I think.
I just have to stop with the freshman in his face and hope for the best, if that had happened it would have been a big deal, but instead they got him back and are fixing him well, not all hope is lost. However, we have to get it to someone like Rutledge and Swift has been playing pretty good defense up to this point, but letting them take a quick shot like that was definitely not the right move, we have to be a lot more in their face and they're going to put a three here that they missed, so we're pushing it up the court and you know, where is Morehead right now?
We need to pass this ball to him. I'm going to put this in their faces too, somehow we have it within a point with 42 seconds left and you have to wonder what's going on with that, but they just took it off the glass and Morehead has the open three, one thing I learned that Alpha , the pass inside the field, they do not return to the defense, but they are going to take this ball from us, so now it is our turn to respond and this time they almost achieved the steal, it was a dangerous look and that is not going. to be a good shot, you know what I want to go with up to this point, we've only relied on threes, 9 seconds left, now Morehead has the space to shoot this one in the air, but we get the rebound. 4 seconds left, now turn him around, please put this in his faces and hit him.
Oh my God, we just won the game. I've never seen such a crazy ending to something and I usually don't like looking at things from behind. instant replay, but every time this didn't go in the rim I thought it was all over, we got the rebound somehow and then we just hit this one right in the eye, all we have to do is make sure they don't make this shot in the entire court. and depal goes to the National Championship Malcolm Moore had led us with 24 points and will have to do the same against Duke who beat North Carolina by three after that performance, although I trust him and know how we have to play this.
Offensively, what I think is most important is that in this game we rebound and they just miss. I mean, up until then we were holding up pretty well. Morehead already had a guy fall on his ankle, which was a great move, so my plan of running every offensive possession through him is working very well and now they're feeding him from the bottom, which we're going to stop. . Honestly, our center has been such an underrated part of this team, but that drive didn't work on shot clocks. When we finish, we have to pick it up and it misses, it seems like they were able to grasp what we wanted to do very quickly, they also fed it down here, but we didn't catch the ball, so even though we got the ball. stopping originally isn't going to make a difference and Gary Simmons was able to foul there but his free throw stat is low so it's very difficult to make these, we're literally playing for a national championship right now so we have to take a step. things and you know what I'm going to let Morhead put it up even with a guy in his face he still does it and they've been trying to turn it around to get a good look at it but they didn't until I got the rebound and can we just grab the damn basketball guys?
If this team had a weakness it would definitely be ours, but that's what happens when you have two freshman big men on your roster and they have years to develop, but I want a championship now. I think it would be a lot of fun to use this team in the future, especially since we just got another ban, but winning the tournament is very difficult and it will be a while before we get another chance like this, so I'm okay with leaving it. Morehead does things like that because he's the reason we're here in the first place and he deserves to have all the leeway now.
If he's going to channel his inner love for RJ Davis and Caleb, we might need to pass the ball to someone. other players and that's not going to happen here, he's still shooting pretty well from the field right now and in transition. I'm going to continue putting the deep three even though that fall by Wen isn't the end of the world, but That they got a bucket here is due to his 10 points. I'm pretty sure eight of them have been second chances and that's ridiculous, that means at the halfway point we're going to lose, but we found out in the second versus Purdue. and even though we're at 33% shooting from the field, we should be fine, that's a three and that's why I have J.R Smith there at point guard, but he just went down because of that screen and they're going to try to get a While we had a man less, they committed a foul and, of course,They also took Ned out.
I'm going to run down the court with Morehead, although I don't know why he faded and stuff. A simple mistake is going to cost us three points, but we have such good length with our big men on this roster and we can execute it in transition as well. I couldn't tell you what Purdue was doing in the last round to always catch up with us. in these situations, but normally we are very good at managing the court and we always find someone open, that's why our offense works and that gets dropped, it's always these little point guards that give me so many problems in these games and you know what we have .
The lead was low but we didn't make a good pass. He would have taken advantage of it if they gave it to us there, but the game decided we wanted to throw it somewhere else and I can't believe Duke is about to go up again. That doesn't make me happy to see, but we broke their press with relative ease, we're fading again, but we still had to make a three at some point and Morehead is standing there in the corner, but instead we throw it down . He wasn't directing the pass to that side of the court, but he still made us put it there.
They don't let us hold the ball and I feel like EA is doing everything they can to make this a competitive game on the hardest difficulty. It seems like we cheat sometimes and that's why it's a miracle we made it this far in the first place. We were down like 11 with 2 minutes left, so being down by four isn't the end of the world and Malcolm Morehead can't keep slipping away. Putting guys on the ground like that, it's disgusting what it does to him after he gets that block two, let's take him out in transition. I shouldn't throw this out, but I let freshman J.R Swift make this statement there himself and there's nothing else I could have done defensively, but we have an open corner three and Rut is going to hit three layups in a row with this template. gives a lead with a minute left in this game, but that falls and we can run out the clock. pretty far but apparently not because Jr Swift was standing out of bounds which gives Duke the ball back instantly and I'm trying to force the steal but instead they're going to take a good look at taking a basket here and this guy shoots 95.% from the free throw line I have never been more frustrated shooting the ball and now we have to push it down the court ourselves, but they decided that Malcolm Morehead can be open, his full court press doesn't It worked that time, but it's the only reason I threw it out of bounds the first one and we almost forced the steal, that's why we always look for double teams against them and come on, just grab the rebound, this should be our ball. , we got the block and now Duke.
He has no choice but to foul us, so we will do everything possible to use up as much time as possible. The only problem is that JR Swift isn't as fast compared to our normal starter, so we've been making foul after foul against Duke. and with 4 seconds left he heads for the strike, he hasn't made a free throw all season so he's going to miss and he wishes he could have gotten Malcolm Morehead there. I know they're probably just going to shoot a stupid 3-pointer. We are in his face, they are not going to call the foul and he almost committed that.
Duke almost beat us with a butler situation that almost beat them back then, but instead Deala won and Malcolm Morehead led the way. It always makes me feel good to see him. The Duke player is sad, but that's just my inner Kentucky fan and I can't believe we completed the rebuild so quickly somehow after all that, even though Malcolm Morehead won't be drafted and they won't give Depal any holiday prestige , but We still completed our only goal and if there are any other teams you want to see me rebuild in NCA basketball, be sure to let me know below.
