SPIED! 2024 Ford F-150 Testing, What We Expect for New Truck

Apr 07, 2024
Hi, I'm Tim, we're talking

truck

and SUV and just a few minutes ago I received an email with spy photos of the

2024

Ford F-150 driving around Dearborn. Now, as you know, I buy these spy photos only for the photographer and I put them on the screen for you so that we can all make theories, guesses, decide

what

we want the

truck

to be and the armchair quarterbacks, all this because well , that's

what

we do, so let's get to these photos, I don't have many, we'll talk. about what we

expect

to see on the

2024

Ford F-150, so first I have to make my little background image because I have to put my logo according to the agreement with the Spy type firm, so looking at these photos we will go there.

Come on, we have this is basically the same cabin as the 2023 and 22 and 21 40 50. What we will see a lot of changes here is the exterior. We have many photos of the exterior and this usually happens, so they prove this. vehicle, so they're going to do a lot of

testing

in the lab, they're going to do

testing

in the improvement fields and they're going to take it out of traffic and see what it does in the real world, so on this front end we can see that we're going to have a new bumper. Looking at some new headlights, we'll have to find a new front fascia all the way to the front grille.

More Interesting Facts About,

I guess we'll still have that Ford logo badge on the front, which is a prominent threat lineup. I guess a yellow square cut out on that. white and that's going to be for your cruise control, it's going to be like this, it's adaptive cruise control, I should say, and they'll actually detect there, that's why they have to take it off, because that's what things are these days. so we'll go around the sides and we can see that it looks like a super cabin because it looks like it has the door extended. um we just have basic rims, basic mirrors, they don't really do much, some people do.

I'm going to point and say, "Oh my God, he has the stupid mask antenna." That thing looks ridiculous and I've seen other outlets just rip it out, but we don't need it, it's still good for AM and FM radio, it's the best. way to get that in the cabin and yes I understand who the AM FM radio is, that's ridiculous many customers still do it when we get close to the sides and see it's definitely a super cabin it looks like the entire front fascia is More or less the entire front half, from what we call the A-pillar, which is where the windshield is.

Ford should have some new details, everything forged from all the way to the bumper, going back there should be some new details in its appearance. Like the taxi would probably stay the same, but this is again, this could just be a test mule, meaning they just put some pieces together and went out and tried different things, so it's always hard to tell in these initial spy photos. which looks like the FX4. on the badge it's covered with the badge and it looks like it's going to be a petrol version because we also have the tailgate back there, it doesn't look like it, well I know they kill diesel so we really only have four engines that are five liters, two seven, three five and three three and we can go around the sides.
I want to show the back because now this back is really camouflaged, we'll take it out right there. a good picture of it, so what we could see back here is that we can see several changes Allah General Motors and what I mean by that is if you look at the Ford F-250, the new 350 Super Duty came out, we have steps in the bumper. Talk about doing that with their half tons too because, like GM, you know, if it works for three quarter tons and one ton, why not do it? It has a half ton boom.
I could see those steps are going to be bumpers. The GM and a lot of people like those steps, some people I've seen don't like them, but a lot of people I talk to like those steps. When looking at the tailgate, there is a lot of talk about a multi-position tailgate. again someone says like the GM tailgate, there have been some patent applications, uh, there have been some things online about how to make some different tailgate designs, so it looks like Ford may be working on some kind of design From a different tailgate, as we have known for years, comes the other tailgate. down you have the built-in step you have to go up you have a little wand that pops up and works it's just a little bit more cumbersome than it needs to be on, you know, jump on the bed real quick and so I could see something changing there, it would be interesting to see what they do.
It used to be that automakers didn't copy anyone, they always did their own thing, but as time goes on we see more and more automakers starting at Copy if it's a good idea, you know why not? use it? Yes, I think it will be a good idea throughout the day, now that we don't have any photos of the inside of the cabin, so there are no photos that we can. We hope to see is what we hope to see uh you can still have the big screen. It would be a question whether to make the Maki and Lightning screen or is vertical versus the current screen which is horizontal.
I like the horizontal screen, I mean. I had the power increase a couple of years ago. I have driven many Ford vehicles. I like that. I like the horizontal screen. The bigger screen is just that there are many brands. I think it's kind of a distraction for the driver. Additionally, we will see if they can be horizontal or vertical again. Many brands are doing the same thing across the entire line. That way costs can have economies of scale if you do the same design throughout the vehicle, so there could be some interesting back and forth about that now there is still a column shifter and a console shifter .
Currently, some of the lower trim levels will have a column shifter like my Ford power boost XLT had the column shifter, but a lot of people use the console shifter, um. just because it frees up that space around the steering wheel, you actually get better ventilation, you don't worry about the shifter being there and that kind of thing people still like the console shifter, especially for uh, and not so much in this case, but For heavy duty, you plow a lot, you tow a lot and people like that column shifter so they can control that gear a little better.
Now Ford has the console shifter, the flat folds, you have the flat folding work surface that we have. We've seen the lightning bolts, we've seen it on the platinum model and the higher trim levels, so you know you're not actually losing that much space when you go and do that. You're actually adding more spaces now that you have this flat surface to work with. and I've worked with those words, actually, do this. Jill interviewed someone who had the fortified beam in California and she uses it all the time, but you give up some cup holders when you have the console shifter or yes, not the column shifter.
I have to keep this clear. I don't see Ford making a pivot like RAM does. I don't see that changing. I don't see many changes in the Park train either. I mean, frankly, at this point, most automakers are saying. He tells me that they're done with ice development, so with the development of the internal combustion engine they've maximized what they can do with that, so they don't really do much else. We know what the five-liter V8 did. Synergy activation. uh they have the same thing with everyone else doing the two seven and the three five, they have the latest, you know, bells and whistles and turbos, all kinds of things going on, so I don't see much happening with that.
They all got to 10 speed transmissions, the 3-3 is still a V6, it's still a work truck engine, maybe we'll see some changes there, they could get rid of the diesel because diesel is a strange option for them because the EcoBoost had the same type of Performance Diesel, it really wasn't right for them, it didn't seem like it was a big seller, so I don't see them going that route either, um, I see more flat blue Crews, which is a self-driving technology that will be offered over the line when it arrives in 2024. I could see some changes in the gauge cluster.
I mean, currently they have something digital and also something analog. I'm wondering, like on the evil. I understand how the market is going. So as for timing, let's see that the 2023 models will be on the market right now, which means that typically in a non-supply related covid, regardless of what's going on here, you would see the presentation on January at the auto show that was held in Detroit and you. We will see it go on sale in the fall of 2023, it is the 2024 model, everything is strange and has changed. I could see it coming to Chicago in February because the car shown in the trailer is gone in January.
You see, we developed it in Chicago or in a separate presentation, a whole separate event for journalists that will take place in the spring of next year and will be on sale in the fall of 2024. I think Ford wants to keep things in the same time frame because it helps you to know the future planning and the rest. Something you should keep in mind, also, we're looking at testing for this 2024 model, which means it's basically ready, so they haven't introduced it yet, so we'll see that they're already planning ahead for 2025 26 27. 28 like that It's how these brands work, that's how manufacturing works, so I can see it after 2024.
I can see it being more expensive because everything is more expensive. I could see changes inside. I can see the exterior changes and I can see the rear bumper and The tailgate will be a huge change in the future and I imagine it will also be like the GM vehicles where the multi-position tailgate is an option, the steps are standard, that's it. what I'm thinking, what do you think?
