EBAY RAISING FINAL VALUE FEES; NO REAL MOVEMENT ON UNPAID ITEMS

Treasure here and good news, winter seller updates here, welcome to the channel guys, my name is Troy, I'm a reseller in Montana, state thrift store garage sales. I frequent these places where I buy stuff and then sell it mostly on eBay and the winter update was released. I got a little excited because from the beginning they started talking about "hey, we're working on that", you all are talking about

that we're going to try. and fix that we are focused on this we are on your team I got excited, I shouldn't have because then I read the update and well, how cool, yes, the update is essentially, we are working on it, but not only that.

We are working on it and in the meantime we will charge you a little more so we can do that. Yes, first they are charging us more. What they did was kind of soft lead with it and then said okay. but let's look at what we did last year, it was good and they're partly right, let's take a look at a couple of things I noted here because I'm not going to remember everything they talked about. eBay's new international shipping program, yes it is good in every way, I don't use it, I use their other shipping program or I ship it myself via pirate ships, simple export rate, but according to everyone it is working very well, they keep getting new people involved in it and I hear nothing but good things about that great job at eBay, but then they go and try to promote.

Hey, we've been running ads on Google and other major media channels, which I guess maybe I've seen a banner ad or something like that here and there and they're talking about, "Hey, we run all these ads and we don't charge you anything extra for it." it". They come to eBay and they are acting like this is only benefiting us, like we are advertising. to bring more people to the platform for you, yeah, because they don't get any of that, right, that's bullshit, that's bullshit, first of all, you didn't actually advertise that much, you advertised eBay engines, which I guess It's good for the people who sell on it. category, but that's

In fact, it would pay if you really want to run ads on some major networks, some real major networks, you want to run them through some streaming services. You know, throw it on Netflix or Hulu or Peacock or any of those. I'm with you. I'd probably pay you if you wanted people to sign up and say, can you contribute to a ridiculous advertising budget, even though you should? do this yourself. I would probably pay for that because you need to advertise more. They also said that we work to increase vitality in all of our categories. I don't know, I really don't know what that means.

They talked about it. Hey, let's start something. new and exciting eBay vault. I know what it is. I haven't really heard anything. You know, no one's really excited about what they talked about. Hey, we bought a couple of things they bought. I forget what they call something with eBay Motors that helps people. sure that when they buy the part it's the right one, I guess that's okay, you know it's good that they bought the TCG player, that is, with the cards that combine with the Vault, that's okay, I guess, but they mentioned that, hey, We have doubled the amount of images you can have there for free from 12 to 24 and a lot of people are very excited.

I've used a couple of extra images here for some things and, yeah, it's nice not to worry, oh man. I have 13 photos that I wanted to show, which one I don't put there. It's nice to have that there. Okay, good job, eBay and they also said, "Hey, now we let you put videos on there too, which is true you already know." You could do that before, it was a workaround, but before you could put videos in your listings, but now you can put them with the photos, so I'm not going to ruin that parade, which is also good. eBay and then they went to well, this is what we're doing now and they said, hey, we're getting closer to our goal of removing

, you know, and they have a paragraph in there where they say we understand where it's frustrating for you to do all good and then you get that unpaid item so they understand it they say they understand I don't know how they can't this is something we've been asking for for years I know there are some people who are against that the immediate payment option in the offers uh I think it's a large minority.

I think for most eBay sellers we want this, this is something that will benefit us now. I think I'll help those people who say that's not a thing. I want, that would hurt my buyers who put something in their car, wait and maybe at the end of the week make a purchase when they get several things back. I don't see that, I think a lot of people don't. See that, but there are people who do eBay, it should just allow us to opt in, do we want to do it or not, maybe there's an option to toggle yes or no, we right click, we should be able to opt in to that in our account. would solve the problem and I don't think it would be very difficult to do, but it seems like anything in this Arena has been difficult for eBay to make the update we are working on, literally, which is pretty much the update in terms of What What are they doing to really move towards eliminating this whole unpaid item thing?

They say they understand it's frustrating. They say man we're working on it, plus it's a dot dot dot we're working on it and meanwhile we're doing it we'll charge you a little bit more yeah eBay rates are going up and they basically put it out there and hey, We are trying to make improvements here for you, we have to increase the rates, so let's talk about the increase. rates, okay, now there are a couple of different categories, there are categories of people who don't have a store at all, they just have their items listed or the initial store.

I think it's called a starter store if you don't have a store or the starter store you are. on a level for rates, so once again I wrote them down. I'll show you a couple of things here, but they say the maximum rate increase is 0.35 percent, a third of a percent essentially is what they say, that's it. the maximum increase, which doesn't seem like much, but I think it's something that will add up, like when the Postal Service says we're

rates, but it's only by a small percentage, okay, but item after item after I shipped. like 12 or 13 items today, that all adds up the same applies here, okay, so if you don't have a store or you have that store at the bottom, most categories say they're going to go from 12 rates, 9 percent to 13.25, that's the maximum 35 tenths of a percentage now like the media, for example, most of the media that are actually going up quite a bit, 14.6 percent is where it already is, it's going to 14, 95, basically a 15 percent media fee for those at that level, now there are more changes for those who do have a store and let's take a look at some of them again.

They say most things go from 12 to 12.35, which includes things like vinyl which for some reason they've removed from the other media categories, why it's independent, I don't know, but. 12 to 12.35 for vinyl, most clothing and shoe accessories, 12 to 12.35, video games go up to 12.35 percent now media again, like other level media, is increasing, it's already 14.6 percent , it's going to 14.95, the same as the other level video games we mentioned, but Video game consoles are actually a little bit lower, 6.8 percent right now, they're going up to seven percent, so again the increase maximum eBay

point three five percent and they say it's to help with all of these things that they're implementing. and really what they identified was eliminating unpaid items, in other words, making sure that buyers have a payment method on file when they submit an offer, when you send them an offer and they accept it, or when they send it to them and you accept it.

Even if immediate payment is required on eBay, it doesn't apply to bids sent or received for some reason, it doesn't work. eBay is the only platform that I know of that actually has that where you know you don't actually have to pay for anything once you sign a contract, which is what they say when you submit an offer. Hey, this is a contract, you're agreeing to pay this amount, they're the only ones who can't seem to do it. charging people right away for being only behind Amazon in the global market seems strange that they say we're working on this we're trying to figure this out doesn't seem to be that difficult eBay is frustrating you know, eBay has been talking about this specifically for a year since the latest winter update.

We sellers have been asking for it for a long time and again. I know there are some who don't want this and don't like the idea, but I think the majority. We want this and we need it because there are a lot of unpaid items out there and some people will say "Oh, so the thing that sits around for four days and comes back on, yeah, but it's frustrating, you know it ties up an item that's another way I could." sell tomorrow and now I will have to wait five six days for it to come back on the market and be available to sell again.

I want to get things out of the store, you know? I don't want unpaid items left on the shelf that have sold well, how do you sell them? They haven't paid for it now they say, hey, we've implemented something for a group of users that requires a registered payment method and therefore when you get an offer from one of those people, it will charge them and the problem is solved. I got offers that you'll see on the screen and it'll say, "Hey, this person entered a payment method and you'll be paid immediately after you accept it." his offer if she does it and then they don't pay me right away has happened several times.

I don't know if it's a delay in processing that payment. I guess I haven't kept track of whether any of them eventually became unpaid items and maybe I should pay attention to the next ones I receive and see if that actually happens. I don't know if that's the case, so I don't know if it's just a delay in the payment process or you know, it feels like that's not the case, it makes me wonder if you know when I was in Texas, uh, we had an accident. car, you know, the guy darted in front of us and we didn't even see him.

I saw a white flash for the For a long time I thought it was like that. I saw his car right before I hit it. His car wasn't white, it was like a blue car. I saw the airbag. I saw a flash of the airbag going 45 or 50 miles an hour and he pulled ahead. We, we crossed the lanes of traffic, we were very lucky that it wasn't worse than it was, but in the end the guy didn't have any insurance, well, you have to have insurance to get your driver's license properly, you know what? what they did was they just bought a month to month policy, they bought a month of insurance that allowed them to get their driver's license and then they let it lapse and then they were able to drive without insurance, it makes me wonder if when some of these things happen if the same is happening with these best deals.

I mean, can you put something there that is no longer valid? There is no money in that account. You know, because I don't think eBay is when they make a holding offer of fifteen dollars it's a pending transaction waiting to see if we say yes or no they won't charge it until we say yes what happens if there's no money then there's no money in that account Do I understand the internal workings? I don't pretend to know, I just know that the system they have in place doesn't seem to be a hundred percent and it's only implemented for a portion of the people, now they say what they're doing is the winter update is we're going to keep releasing it for more people.

We're going to continue to give more people this deal where they can record a payment. I don't know, it's a little frustrating, like I said, your update. It's just that we are still working on it and there is nothing that you know. Hey, by this date we will have it done. It's super, super nebulous, super vague, that's annoying and in fact at this point they haven't done anything to fix it. I tell most people that I have a lot of newer resellers that watch this channel and a lot of people that come in know the history of eBay as an auction site and unfortunately eBay is no longer primarily an auction site, for most the items you will not get the best price. for auctions, although there are people, there is a reseller here in town that pretty much just runs, actually, there are a couple that pretty much only run auctions and can be successful, can move a lot of inventory quickly and try to make money with As for the volume Right, you may not get the best price, but everything is moving.

There are some people who operate that way and that is another problem: non-payments at auctions. These options are not available at auctions. They are not so people at auctions. They will run your item for a week, maybe 10 days, they get a bidder who then doesn't pay, so it lasts four days and if all they do is hold auctions, they can relist it, but then it has to run again week, they put a uh, an item that might not sell if they get a bad buyer, might not sellfor about three weeks, that's ridiculous, you know, and it's like I said, other platforms have figured this out, eBay, come on, you can do this, the winter update says.

We are working on it. I really hope that by the spring update we will see it. We have been working on it and here is our solution. There are a couple more things in the winter update.
