I *FINALLY* bought a New Electric Truck!!

Three years ago, at the end of 2018, I pre-ordered an

electric

truck

, the rivien r1t. I previously said on my channel that the anticipation of getting a new vehicle is sometimes more fun than getting it and that's still true, but three years is a lot of anticipation, it's been so long that I've had enough time to build my own EV like this ev humvee behind me and you could say hello jerry, if you already have an

electric

vehicle why buy another one? You're right, but a production ev has a few things it doesn't like: air conditioning.

One thing that added to the anticipation of having my new

truck

is that last summer my uncle asked me if he could buy my tacoma and I said yes, thinking about it. Reviews are right around the corner, it was eight months ago, the Rivians were delayed and I've been carpooling with my wife ever since. I don't trust delivery days during a pandemic today, although rivian says my truck is ready for pickup which means today could be a very good day, let's start normally rivian brings the truck to your house to drop it off but I live very near a service center so we'll go there my mom is my driver today cambry is a little busy Now normally I would say that buying a vehicle straight off the lot is a terrible financial decision and I'm still 100 okay with that but I'll do it anyway and I'll explain why a little bit later in the video while we're at it. driving, let me tell you what has happened so far, so about two weeks ago I received an email from a Rivien guide, who is the person in charge of making sure my truck is the exact spec I want, we solidified the design and then about a week later.

I received another email that allowed me to pay for the truck, put insurance on it and after paying for it and having insurance I was able to choose a delivery date and that delivery date is today and I should see my truck for the first time in just a few minutes that could be my truck and no, it's got different wheels, we're getting close, I can feel it though, look at all those, it's really in heaven right there, that's mine with the black wheels, yeah, oh that looks good, so many trucks. we have the rivium blue and then we have mine right here we have the white one it's loading we have the black rims I guess a little bit more I have the cover this is the founders edition so there's a couple of little extras here and there so I think I want to go over a couple of things with me inside, so I'll let you do that and then I'll let you know what they say.

I'm excited. I'll walk you through all of my interior design decisions and everything I chose. this truck, but first let's drive a little. I've done enough driving. I did a video with Rivian in Colorado where we took these trucks off the road. Now Rivian never paid me and they didn't give me a discount either. Unfortunately, this truck, but I'm a big fan and it's officially mine, so obviously I've only had this truck for a couple of hours, so this won't be a full review, but I'm going to take a ride. Wait a minute, I want to talk for a second about why I think it's financially okay to buy this truck.

Now anyone who buys a new vehicle obviously has their own justification for buying it, but I'll tell you a few of mine, one for electric vehicles. They are so powerful that I literally saw a video two days ago that showed a drag race between a Rivian truck and a Ford Raptor, obviously the Rivian with a three second zero to sixty, but the good thing is that after the race they charged the Rivian weighs 6,000 pounds on a trailer and still beat the ford raptor, the power of electricity is just crazy, plus there is virtually no maintenance on this truck, the rivien has an eight year, 175,000 mile warranty on its battery and train motor, which is crazy there.

There isn't a single gasoline-powered vehicle on the market that has a similar warranty—even Tesla, which has made more electric vehicles than anyone else, says its battery is still at 90 percent capacity even after 200,000 miles, so that the longevity of electric vehicles is not even in doubt. So in my opinion, while the Rivian is a little more expensive up front, it makes up for it in its longevity and how fun it is to drive. The Rivian can tow 11,000 pounds, has 15 inches of ground clearance, 908 pound-feet of torque with 835 more horsepower, if you want the details, EVs have been sold out everywhere for a year or two, so which I could literally turn around right now and sell this truck for more than I

bought

it for, which in my opinion makes it a pretty good financial decision, plus something people might not realize is that right now there is a seven and a half thousand dollar federal tax credit if you buy an electric vehicle from a company that has made less than two hundred thousand, so Teslas no longer qualify, which is a pretty solid discount on the price of a rivien I think this Rivien right now is number one thousand six hundred and thirteen so they are still pretty new and if you think it's crazy that the government is offering so much money for electric vehicles, wait until I find out how much they've given the companies. oil companies, so it's a little windy here on the mountain, but we're on a mountain and it's time to walk, obviously the most important thing on any truck is the flashlight hidden in the door. but let's talk about other things, we have heated and cooled seats, heated steering wheel, big screen in the center, smaller screen up here to see how fast we are going, I chose the black interior and the white exterior, as you probably noticed from the rest . from the video and this is where we find the air conditioning when it's parked, the handles open like this so we can grab them and then they close so they're flush with the side panel for aerodynamics.

One interesting thing about aerodynamics that I've only seen in electric vehicles so far: this little slot right here when you're going fast, say over 30 or 40 miles per hour, air resistance is one of the biggest obstacles to the scope, so what this does here is it brings air in. through the bumper and creates a curtain around the tire so that the tire doesn't cause any turbulence or drag which, combined with the recessed door handles, can come down when driving fast on the highway or something, making it More aerodynamic and increases range, we have 314 miles of range which is quite a bit now if we are towing it usually decreases that range by about half or at least that's what I found when towing with my wife's model X.

We'll have to do some towing tests with this a little later as it is a truck and I plan on using it as a truck, speaking of which we can lower the tailgate, it goes down automatically but you have to lift it up to get it into place. and as you probably remember from my Colorado video, I made sure to pay a little extra for the spare tire that comes from here on this side, we have the gear tunnel, which is like a cavity that runs through the entire truck. store stuff in there, we have a five-seat storage compartment here and, I mean, there's so much going on I almost forgot, we have the air compressor back here, so when you're in an SUV or you need to pump up your tires, we have an onboard compressor which is also used to raise and lower the suspension 15 inches of ground clearance and once again here we have the aerodynamic curtain over the tires and a front trunk and inside here we have a storage cable, the gear guard . and some child seat mounts, there are also four wall outlets, two in the bed of the truck and two in the gear tunnel that you can use to charge things with that huge 130 kilowatt hour battery, as you can see I'm very excited with this truck.
