Hello everyone welcome back crafty couple today we have 54

dollar

tree

wood DIY so this is a compilation video of previous

projects

where we have used

dollar

tree

wood to create them and if you are looking for inspiration , this is a perfect video. There are a lot of options, a lot of different decorating styles, so I hope you enjoy it, let's jump in and start starting this project. We're going to use one of these dollar tree bases. They now come in two different sizes. the longer the vase, the larger and these will also be the 12 inch wooden dowels from the dollar tree and I think you will need five packs to complete this project.

The first thing I'm going to do is start gluing them. all the way and try to line it up with the bottom as best as possible and then have this go up vertically if you have it tilted a little bit as you go that might start to get worse and then it won't. line it up when you get to the back and the easiest way I found was to line them up on the bottom of the vase and then glue them as close to the previous piece of wood as possible. Now when I did this, I ended up with a There's a little gap in the back, but I don't really care since you're not going to see it, you can just place this where it is in the back, once we have all those pieces stuck together, we can move on.

To stain this piece I'm now using that first American minwax stain and I didn't worry about going all the way down or making it look perfect towards the bottom since I'm going to paint it now if you wanted to you could. Stain this entire piece or even paint it a solid color or different colors. I'm doing gold on the bottom, as you can see here, so on the back I made a little test stitch because I wasn't sure the ribbon was going to fit. I was able to get into those little creases so you can see that this is not a completely flat surface because we're using those pegs and I wasn't sure if the paint was going to bleed under there, so it actually worked out fine.

However I suggest that when you are painting this you try to paint down instead of spraying onto the tape because then it might go under, that's what I did and it seemed to work fine so go ahead and run the tape all over and press it firmly down and you should be fine. I also put a bag on top and then taped it back down like that. I don't have to worry about taping all the way to the top, the bag will cover it and then I'll use it. Rust-oleum gold spray paint to go ahead and spray paint the bottom of this and if you don't want to use gold you can use something different.

I was thinking about doing black. I really like wood. and black combinations, but I feel like we do that quite often, so I wanted to do something a little different with the gold and that's all there is. It's a very simple project, but I think in the end it's absolutely stunning and could go with like a mid-century modern, boho modern, but depending on how you styled it, you could use it in a lot of different decor options for this project. . I actually saw this on Alison Yolanda's Instagram and I'll link her Instagram below, but I'm just going to grab these falling tower blocks and put them in this shape here and just glue them together.
What I did was glue the two tower blocks that fall first and then I'll glue them all together to give it more of that structure. Now that they are all glued together, it's time to glue the ends together so you have that nice base for our pot. I think this is a really cute design. These could be really cute coasters. You can turn them into a really cool wall decor piece. I love the design of how these falling tower blocks came together. Now I'm going to grab four more falling tower blocks and glue them to the side, so I placed the second one and glued it about two-thirds of the way. above, so there's a little bit on the top left and then I'm going to do it again so you can see it's the second tarot block that falls and I'm going to stick it there, then I took an early American stain. from minwax to finish it, this is what it looks like after staining it.
I think it turned out really nice and if you want to keep it all at Dollar Tree, I'm going to use this glass and spray paint it black, and you can. Put succulents or other things like that inside in the end I decided to decorate it with something I got from target dollar point that I thought was super cute for this project. In fact, I'm going to cheat on something I saw on the target. It was sixty dollars and I'm going to make this for two to three dollars, so I grabbed all these dials from a dollar tree.
They are 12 inch dials and I will also use six inch tuners at first. I was separating them because that's how I thought I wanted the design, but when I started putting it together I really liked how it looked when they were much closer together. What I did was I started with my half and then I placed them. the four vertically and the three horizontally and I try to keep the ones that are horizontal on the top and the ones that are vertical on the bottom, it just makes it look a lot better and then I started gluing them all together, I try and have at least two points. of contact when you are gluing the pins, this helps them stay together much better.
I switched between the 12 inch pegs and the 6 inch pegs, whatever you want and then spray painted it with this Krylon Fusion matte black. paint you can also paint it gold but I loved the way it looks in black to start we're going to be using these dollar tree spinning tower blocks and if you're using these smaller packs you're going to need three of those and if you're using the biggest one, you can get by with two so the first thing I'm going to do here is glue three at a time and you're going to want to do this 30 times so essentially we'll have 30 of these 3p squares and then Once we have them all glued together we can start to glue those squares together in a row, so to start creating the shape of the tray, I'm going to alternate them, so the first one I'm going to make here will be essentially vertical. block and then the next one horizontally, so we're going to create a pattern all over this tray going back and forth alternating these vertically and horizontally so they're not all going in the same direction, I think it gives a cool little pattern with these little ones blocks and it's still very

easy

to make you don't have to cut anything and it gives it that unique design so for this tray what I ended up making was a six by five row so we're going to have six long and then five tall and that will create the size of our tray.
Now this is totally up to you. You can make it smaller or you can make it much larger if you want. It depends on how big you want to make this trade now once we have it. Once the first row is completed, we can move on to adding all the other pieces. You could do this a couple of ways if you wanted. You could glue all the rows like I did with the first one and then glue them together, although this is not always the case. They match in size I wanted to glue them individually from here so I could try to fit it as tight as possible if you were to glue them all in a straight row you might have some parts that just don't fit as well and in the end the tray didn't fit perfectly anyway just because of the different block sizes, so don't stress too much if it's not perfect.
I think in the end it still looks really good and then what I'm going to do. What I do here is I use this first American minwax stain and I go ahead and stain the whole thing and I ended up using a little bit of wood glue on the back of this and I just put it through the seams and then spread it all over the part later to give it a little more strength too, once we have the base complete we can move on to the handles and these will be really simple this is what it will look like when it's glued so for mine I needed five blocks on top of the five . at the bottom and then in the middle I'm also using these little wooden dollar tree cubes, so what I'm going to do is I'm just going to glue them together until I have that row of five, make another row of five and then I'm going to glue them together.
Along with the two squares, one thing you should also keep in mind when working with hot glue is that you don't need a ton to get them to stick, if you use too much it will actually come off of them. seams and then it will be on the surface which creates a problem if you try to stain these pieces, if there is glue on top it won't stain the wood and you will see those gaps and it just isn't going to look very finished so if you are staining keep that in mind , try to keep the glue to a minimum, that way you don't have to worry about it, if you are painting it doesn't really matter because you can obviously paint. about the glue on the wood and that doesn't matter as much as if you're staining once we have them assembled we can move on to painting.
I decided to paint mine with Krylon's matte black spray paint and there I am. I'm just showing you a little bit of that wood glue on the back. Now the next part to finish this is to just add those handles on each side and I'll just use a little bit of hot glue to attach them back together. simple project but I think in the end it looks very pretty and can be combined with many different decoration options, so one thing I would suggest is that if you want something a little prettier, you can still do the pattern with the flip. tower blocks, but if you wanted to use some square wooden dowels for the handles, I think they would hold up a little better and look cleaner than the falling tower blocks, so that's something we've thought about doing, let us know in the comment if you would like to see us try some a little more advanced

projects

with more raw materials from Lowe's or if you like strictly the dollar tree stuff, we would love to do some of these similar projects, but check them out. a little more high end with some of those nicer items, so let us know if that's something you would be interested in seeing for this project.
I made something pretty similar a while ago, but I'm going to use these craft sticks from Dollar Tree and these beads from Amazon. I didn't know exactly how many I needed, so I just grabbed a bunch for the one I made last time. This time I left the edges curved. I wanted them to be cut, so have one that's kind of a template and just go out of that so they're all the same length. Assemble them. You will take four craft sticks and glue them into a square. In the end you will want eight squares in total.
Now is the time. to place them together, so I took four of the squares and lined them up like this so that the pointy parts are touching and then I glued the second one on top of these two and then I glued the fourth one on top like Okay, now that the middle section is finished, just we need to add two to the bottom so add some glue and hook it to the second one from the left and then you'll add one on the second one. from the right so you have two right in the middle, then you'll do exactly the same for the top.
Once this is done we will add the beads I bought from Amazon to all the points right in the middle I didn't add them to the outside edges I can't believe you love me oh this project is actually a West Elm dupe I think it was around of 170 and I'm making it for only two dollars, so what I did was I grabbed these rectangular wood planks from Dollar Tree and then I'm using them from another project in this video. I'll link them here. They don't go halfway, they're a bit of a weird length, but I always try to reuse things so there's no wood wasted, so you can watch the last video I linked above and it shows you how long they are, so if you did that and you have leftovers, this works perfect.
I'm just taking two of the rectangular pieces and gluing them on the ends and you'll make two sets of these and then we'll put hot glue along the side of one of them and place it directly on top of the other piece of wood, try to make sure it's good. very, very close to the other side of the wood and it matches very well because we want this to look very elegant and then I grab two of those square pieces and put them on the sides if you don't have them already. Done, just go to the side and trace, it just needs to be exactly the same size for it to fit perfectly.
We're going to put the wood on the outside, not the inside, and it looks cleaner now that we have this. all assembled, we're going to go ahead and stain with minwax first american dye since the 12 inch dials are not long enough from dollar tree. I'm going to use this extra long skewer from Dollar Tree, they're something like that. Coming out now, since it's pretty much grilling season, all you're going to want to do is just hold it up and then draw a little line. I'm using doll scissors here to cut the skewer and then I painted the skewer with the metallic gold spray. rust-oleum paint and when it's dry it's time to add it to our shelf so all you're going to do is turn it over and add two dots of hot glue to each side and then insert the skewer to hang it.
I decided to just make two picture hangers on the back. I'm sure there's probably a better one.way to do it but this is the way I found that works pretty well and then I decorated it with a bunch of cute things we got from the dollar target for this project you will need a dollar tree plunger just go ahead and twist the bottom to make the feathers. We will use this decorative nautical rope and you will have to unscrew the three parts. Once you've done that, you'll have these three separate stacks. We will only need one for the first feather.
To make these feathers, you will make a loop the length you want the feather to be. I would recommend taping them on the top and bottom. It helps a lot more to put them in now. I'm just measuring how much time I want. the actual feather part 2b, the whole thing is going to be folded in half, so remember now I'm just going to take four strands and cut them to make them, you're going to take one of the strands and fold it in half and put it underneath. rope that you put on the bottom then you will grab one of the other threads you also fold it in half and you will pass it through the loop and then the loop of the one you are holding you will put the ends of the other rope and then take the two ends and Pull them hard, you will continue doing it all the way down.
Now take a wire brush or something similar and you will brush these strands once you have brushed them as much as you can cut them into a feather. Write a smaller shape at the bottom and then make it a little smaller at the top. The widest part is more or less in the middle. Once you cut it a little shorter, you'll want to brush it one more time. I cut the end off the plunger. With this jigsaw from Black and Decker you'll just want to cut it so both sides are even and then I attached the small feather by just turning it over and doing the same process as before.
I'm starting with the pen a little lower. time and I will make it longer and then I cut this one a little thinner than the previous one, this will be the last one made with this nautical rope and it will also be the smallest for all of this, I just use a bundle from the nautical row, you can leave these alone three, but I felt like it needed a little more in the middle, so I'll take this gray dollar tree yarn and make two more feathers if you're ever looking for one. list of products we use, just go ahead and check the description.
We have all the products we use for everything in this video and also links to help you find them. You can leave the plunger in the normal color I thought after hanging them. It needed to be stained and this is what it all looks like finished, let me know what you think in the comments of this project. We're going to create these little wall hanging planters using some dowels, this plunger handle and then also these little wooden boxes. from Dollar Tree, so you're going to need a plunger and then six of these little 12-inch dowels and then three of those wooden boxes.
I'm going to go ahead and start by spray painting the plunger handle and the lugs with that krylon matte black spray paint now while we're waiting for the paint to dry we can go ahead and stain our boxes and you'll want to keep the little inserts that go here because you can definitely use them for other crafts and then what I'm using here is the American first minwax dye. Go ahead and stain all of these inside and out for the interior, although you don't have to go all the way down and get it all at any time, we can save product by just doing that. what we need, we like to do that, so if you want it and you have that

full

look, you can do it, but we're going to put things in there so it doesn't really matter because you won't see the background.
Anyway, once everything has dried, we can move on to putting everything together, so what I'm going to do is take one of the dowels, I'm going to run a little line of hot glue along the edge and then let's go. to stick them vertically so try to line it up with the side of the box and then the bottom and then we're going to do the same thing on the other side so you want to do this on all three. our wooden boxes we're going to glue two of those dowels upright once we've glued everything onto our boxes we can move on to how we're going to hang this on the wall and we're going to use this plunger handle and then some of this suede leather, I think we got it at Hobby lobby, maybe five to eight dollars, and it comes with a little bit, so I just cut a little section off here and then I'm going to measure down to the center and cut it in half so we have two separate pieces to hang on both sides of the plunger handle so go ahead and cut it in half and then here in a moment we'll show you how we're going to hang that next what we want to do is find the center of our handle so we can glue our first box there.
It ended up being about eight and a quarter inches, so I just drew a little line with the pencil and then I'm just going to look at it here and try to place this first box as central as possible with that line and then I put a little bit of glue on each end and then I simply placed this handle on top and pressed down until it was firm. and then from here I can space everything out. I put my leather strip on the end and then I'm going to line up my other two boxes so that the spacing is pretty equal, it doesn't have to be absolutely perfect, but by doing this, you can get it really symmetrical.
If you want to take action, you definitely can. I think it's just a little extra work and you won't really notice it in the long run, so again, I just put a few in. dabs of hot glue on the ends there and then I'll lift up the handle and then I'll just put it in there and then I'll try to line up the bottom of each box with the other boxes and then the space between them. Also, that way when you look at it, everything looks pretty even and symmetrical and then I'm going to add a little bit of hot glue here on these seams just to give it a little bit of extra strength. it won't hold much weight so it should be fine and again if you want to use something stronger for a more permanent hold you can definitely do that, maybe some wood glue or e6000.
We like to use hot glue and it usually works. It's fine for us and it holds up pretty well, so to give it some bulk and less weight, what I'm doing here is just adding a couple of paper towels, rolling them up and putting them in the box and then we're going to put some rocks on top. of those, that way it will cover the paper towel, but we won't fill it completely with rocks and add all that weight and unnecessary products and then I'll just use a couple of succulents and air plants to go. on these, you could do this however you wanted, if you wanted to make it a little more modern, you could do that farmhouse.
I think this would look good too. You could maybe put some lambs here or something there. This could really go with a There are a lot of different decorating styles depending on how you want to decorate it and then we'll just roll them up and then run the tack through them and then the tacks will go back into the wall, there really isn't much weight to this , so you shouldn't have to worry about them falling over in this project, we're going to use these two little canvas frames from Dollar Tree and I already took the canvas off of them, all we need is the wooden frame that we're going to use.
To paint these matte black now while they dry, we're going to go ahead and stain these little craft boxes. These are the inner boxes. There is some kind of outer shell and we don't need it for this project. You can do it if you want. i used the slightly larger size these are just the ones i had left over so i wanted to use them for the project and i'm using minwax american first stain and once we've given our paint and stain a little time to dry we can move on to gluing them together, all I'm going to use is a little bit of hot glue from Dollar Tree to connect them and I'm just going to look at it so that this is in the center here and this is It held up well for us, we're not actually putting a lot of weight here.
If you're looking to add something heavier, you might want to use like e6000 or even a wood glue, but hot glue works well for us and this. It's a really simple project, but I think it's very pretty. You could give it a modern industrial style and that's all there is to this project. I added a little more hot glue to the back here just to give it extra strength. For this piece we're going to start with two of these 8 by 10 canvas frames, go ahead and remove that canvas and we're just going to use the wood. Now a lot of people ask where we get our inspiration in our Crafts This is one that I was just sitting on and it just popped into my head.
Hey, it might be cool to pair a couple of these frames with a bowl made like a plant pot or something, so that's where this came from now. However, we get a lot of inspiration from Pinterest or some high-end online stores, so if you haven't followed our Pinterest account, be sure to do so, we will be saving a lot of pins so we can recreate them in the future, so if you want ideas, there's a lot of good ones that we'll be showing there so we'll have a link to our Pinterest account below be sure to check it out and for this one what I'm doing.
What we're doing here is we're marking the center of the frames and I lifted up the other frame so I can get the width there and then I'm going to go ahead and mark that on both sides here so I can cut it and then we've marked that first frame, we can go ahead and use a ruler to line up the other square and then continue those lines to the next one which will give us the area that we're going to cut out and I'm just I'm going to use a jigsaw to cut those pieces out and right here when you're cutting you want to make sure that are clamped or held tightly.
You don't want to cut them like that. I was just showing you where I am. I was going to cut, so make sure that if you use a jigsaw, these are locked in place when you're cutting and then once those pieces are removed, they'll just slide together like this, very simple and

easy

, and then I'm going to use a little bit of this hot glue to connect those pieces now that we have everything glued together we can move on to staining and if you've been watching our channel for a while you know we love early American minwax stain I think it's a really solid color For a lot of different decor options, we want to expand on that a little bit, so if you have a dye preference that you really like, let us know in the comments what colors and brands you like so we can start trying them out and after you've dyed that piece we can move on to this bowl again, it's from Dollar Tree and I'm going to paint it with flat black paint and after that all we're going to do is add a little bit of hot glue on the wood here and go ahead and connect that project really simple, but i think it turned out really cool, a little bit different and you can add some succulents or other plants to complete this when we're done, this project is on tick tock by user Sad Dad 2000 and I absolutely fell in love with this project and was so excited to do it.
All they did was take this rectangular gift box from a dollar tree and then they used I also used the 12 inch dowels from the Dollar Tree to start making this project, all you will have to do is set the box aside and Make sure the back is facing you and start placing the dowels in two on the back. I just used hot glue. and that seemed to work perfect, make sure when you put the pegs in the bottom of the peg meets the bottom of the top piece and the top of the peg meets the top of what is going to be .
On this shelf, you can space them however you want, but I placed them fairly close together once the entire back was finished. I'm going to go about three quarters of the way along the side if you want us to recreate one of your DIYs, send it to us. DM on Instagram this is what it will look like finished before spray painting and all I did was paint it all with Krylon matte black spray paint and this is how it turned out, give Sada 2000 tons of love on tick Tock, to start with this, we're going to use this dollar tree bucket and this dollar tree wood ring and the first thing we're going to do here is stain them separately using this early american dye and the reason why I like it.
To say first on some of these projects is depending on where you glue it, if you glue them first the stain won't be able to soak into the wood in those places so you will be left with bare spots of wood underneath. the glue and then smear the stains and it just doesn't look very good. The next thing we're going to do here is glue them together. I'm just using some hot glue from Dollar Tree. I have my glue gun on high heat and then I'm going to glue that right in the middle and then the last part of this project after we have them stained and glued is to add a command strip here on the back.
This one was a little long, so I'm just cutting this out. Reduce the size so it doesn't stick out on the sides, but this is a really easy way as it won't weigh much and you'll most likely just stick some sort of plant stem in there, don't you. It's going to weigh a lot so I don't have to worry about it falling due to the weight and this project I'm just showing youone, but I think it would look great with at least three or more covering a larger space. on your wall for this project, we're going to use this little gift box from Dollar Tree and I'm going to start by painting with this Krylon River Rock Matte Spray Paint and then what we're trying to achieve here is kind.
Concrete in appearance and you will need two paints. I'm using white and ink. Waverly chalk paint, you could probably use black and white acrylic paint. I don't think it really matters, this is just what we have and then the next part I'm going to do here is use this sponge to get a really diluted white color, you don't want to continue with pure paint, it would be too heavy, we want to apply this lightly here and give it a little bit of extra texture and then you can use the opposite side of the sponge to pick up any excess or some of the paint that's too heavy that we don't want left there, you can also use kind of a paper towel like that and then also what I did after painting all the white That's when I'm going to go in and add the black and do the exact same thing with both colors together on top of this matte river rock.
I think it looks a lot like a concrete look. Now while our paint is drying we can move on to the legs here I'm going to spray paint these gold and these are just some little six inch pegs from the dollar tree and then we're going to glue them into the corners here now what we want to do is glue them in one of these corners they skip one corner and then they glue the next one so there should be three in total and then they will alternate where we glue them and for this project it's really simple there's not much to do all we we're using are the dowels and then this little gift box, paint it and then stick them here.
I would say probably the hardest part is the painting process, but that's really not that difficult in and of itself as you'll get more comfortable with it. Learn how to apply the paint with the sponge and that's it. I think it turned out very sophisticated and modern. Well, for this project we are going to create a really simple planter using these wooden boxes. from Dollar Tree, the first thing we're going to do is dye two of them with this first American minwax stain and you want to make sure that you're seeing the inside and the outside because you'll be able to see inside these. a little bit, once we've stained them, we can move on to painting this third one and I'm just going to use this Waverly ink chalk paint.
Any black paint will really work for this, although if you are using this ink it would. Thinning it with water will make it much easier to paint this. Once we have it painted and the other two stained, we can go ahead and assemble them and the first thing we're going to do is take this bottom piece, which is the black one and we're going to put a little bit of hot glue around the top and then we're going to take one of our dye pieces and we'll glue it on top of that once we have our first dyed box glued there. we can move on to adding our second one and again all we're going to do is add a little bit of glue to the top and then stick it on top.
It's a really very simple project, but I think it looks absolutely beautiful when you're done. you could go with a modern industrial rustic type or if you wanted to do more white paint with the stain and do some distressing you could definitely go with a farmhouse or farmhouse modern and lastly all i'm going to do is to add some To this dollar tree onion grass I cut the stems off so it would fit a little easier and not as tall and then I placed three of these in the back row that you can see here and then three in the front and the I will fan a little bit and that's really all there is to this again, a very, very simple project for this project, it ended up so cute, so I'm really excited to show you how I did it.
I started with this five dollar mirror from, of course, the bullseye playground sign and then this piece of wood from the dollar tree. This is a copy of something I saw on Pinterest. I think the one that's like 350 and something is a little bigger, but I loved the style. I thought it was awesome. So what? What I did was with this piece from Dollar Tree, just the wood. I decided to sand it just to get the whole look out for this winter. It was pretty rough but I ended up just sanding it down and it looked a lot better and I'm going to be Using a 6000 every time I used hot glue it doesn't stick to glass or mirror as you know it just doesn't work so what I did was Measuring about four inches on each side, I made a small mark and then used my e6000.
Make sure you are in a very well ventilated area when you do this. Also try to use as little e6000 as possible just because when you hold it to the mirror it will spread slightly so I left it on. where my marks were and then I'm just going to use these little clamps that we got from Walmart and I let them sit for 24 hours too since you can see it all what do you think of our new set? We are very excited. To have it all set up like that, I feel like the camera angle is a lot better and I feel like you can see the projects a lot better.
Let me know in the comments below. After 24 hours I removed the clamps and it is perfectly secured there and I think it turned out extremely nice for the backing instead of gluing it like a picture hanger on the back. I'm going to use command strips and I loved using them. These support up to 17 pounds. I think that's enough for this mirror so I'm going to put one on this side and one on the other side and then you just peel off the adhesive piece on the other side and put it right on the wall so you can get it.
It's nice and you don't even have to worry about nails, so I'm really excited to use them for this project. You will need two of the 6x8 canvases. The easiest way I have found to remove the canvas is to take a flat head. screwdriver and lift up all the staples and then take some pliers and take them out once you remove the canvas you will be left with these two wooden frames. I drew a straight line at the bottom and that's where we're going to cut so the ends are flat what we use to cut all of our wood is this Black and Decker jigsaw and there's a link in the description below for this.
This is what you will have left after cutting and we will dye and glue them. You'll just want to sand the end a little and apply the dark walnut minwax stain and this is what it looks like after you've stained it. Now we just need to hot glue both ends to create a backing. For this I simply took a piece of black cardstock from Dollar Tree and traced the inside and cut it out, then to create the design we will take these craft sticks from Dollar Tree and I cut the curved end on one side of many of these, this one is the pattern I'm going to choose, you can make whatever pattern you want for this and then I started hot gluing them onto the cardstock and the pattern I liked for the little spaces, I just cut out the craft sticks.
To size up all the ones I've placed so far, I painted them with Waverly chalk paint in colored ink, then painted four of the craft sticks white also from Waverly, and then stained two of them. Now it's time to hot glue the white ones, then you'll move on to the stained ones and then the white ones one more time to finish. I just lined up the craft sticks how I liked them in the end and then I'm dyeing them all. the rest now place the frame on top and we will trace all the way around the outside so we know where to cut then cut on your lines all around to finish it we just need to hot glue the corners of the frame and place it on top if you have any left over on the sides just cut it out too we're going to create the shelf and jewelry and accessory organization and we're going to use six of these dollar tree pallets and then I decided to stain them with ipswich pine stain it gives it a little bit darker color but still This way we maintain a natural looking wood once we have them stained, we can move on to connecting all our pieces and we will glue them together like this so that We will have the bottom piece and then the top piece that goes vertical.
We'll stick it on top of there now. If you want, you can always use a stronger glue. We used hot glue for time reasons. You could also add. a little staple on the back to connect them for extra strength so I would recommend doing that for a longer hold and then after we've connected those two pieces together we'll just repeat that process but I'm going to glue the next one together. pieces that we've already glued over and then we'll go ahead and glue all six pieces together once we have them all glued together, you could leave it like this as a floating shelf to put little decorative pieces on it, but I wanted to go a little further so I'm using a pack of these suction cup hooks and we're going to go ahead and remove the hook part of the suction cups.
We won't need those suction cups, just the hooks. It comes in a pack of nine, but I only ended up using eight and spray painted them all gold. The next step I would do before spray painting so you can avoid cleaning off some of that spray paint, which you want to do. is to go ahead and take some pliers and fold the top of that back, that's the part that we're actually going to glue onto our shelf. I decided to put it in each of these little spaces, so I used eight of them in total and then as you can see here, we're just going to glue that part that we folded here, we'll put it on top and bottom and we'll glue it on the bottom to start this vase.
We will use one of these dollar tree vases. and then one of these 12 inch wooden dowels also from Dollar Tree, I marked it at two inches and then another four inches and then three inches and then I'm going to use these dog nail clippers to go ahead and cut this off now that I've seen many vases that look really high end and absolutely beautiful as I scroll online or like on Pinterest and I knew I had to recreate one, it's very simple, all we are doing here is taking a simple vase and creating a handle that be really elegant. and modern, so for that handle, as you can see here, we're starting to shape it with that wooden dowel, so here's the shape of the handle.
Now you could leave it like this if you wanted, however I think if we cut this at a bit of an angle it will fit much better and make those seams not as noticeable, so what I'm doing here is just cutting this bottom peg at an angle where it joins with the second peg and then also at the bottom where it meets the vase which will make it fit much more flush with the vase and then with that second peg and at the end once we glue it on it will look much more finished and elegant now that we have all those pieces cut out.
Now I can glue our handle. I wanted to let you know that this handle is not intended to be used, it is for decorative purposes only. If you wanted to try and get something a little more robust you could use the e6000, but honestly for me. Going for the look, I don't really care if the handle is functional, so I'm just trying to make it look as tall and as good as possible, but I wanted to let you know that I didn't do this with the intention of using the handle, so so all I'm using here is some hot glue.
We like to use dollar tree hot glue so if you haven't tried it I would definitely recommend trying it, it always seems to work well. us and a few people mentioned that their glue doesn't hold and always wanted to know what we use so definitely go out and try that if you haven't and then when you glue this bottom here you'll want to try gluing it to match the top here. The last thing you want to do is set it aside and then when you try to stick this on the vase, they're not lining up and it can be a little tricky after we've completed the handle, we can move on to attaching it to the vase, so same thing I'm going to do.
I'm going to use a little bit of hot glue, I'm going to put a little bit on the top and then on the bottom and then on the top, you just want to try to line it up with the top of the vase so they're flush and then the last part of this project is to add some paint, there's really nothing more to it than this, it's a super simple project but in the end it looks so sophisticated, you know we love matte black paint so that's what we're going to use, but as always guys, feel free to customize this and use any type of paint you want.
I'll grab these wood planks from the Dollar Tree. They are a newer item I have noticed and are at Crafter Square Dollar Trees. They come in a pack of six. We're only going to use five of them today, so four of them will be the sides and then the fifth one we'll cut in half, just measure the center of one of the boards, make a line and that's where we're going to cut what we use for cutting all of our wood is this black and decker jigsaw which I really enjoyed and it is very affordable and there is a link in the description below after cutting you will only need to sand the edges when everything is complete we will start assembling the box so You can take one of the smaller sides and place it on one of the front pieces.
Now you will simply hot glue the two front pieces together to give it a little extra support. Gripthese popsicle sticks from Dollar Tree and I just put some hot glue on there and I'm putting it on the inside of the front then just add the other end and then you're going to do the same thing for the other side so glue the two ends together together and then place the two popsicle sticks on top and then you'll just hot glue them together. that part on top of the rest of the box for the base, you could definitely use more of those wood planks, but I decided to just use a little bit of foam board, so go ahead and line up the foam board with your box and just trace it to Stain everything using this dark walnut stain from Minwax.
I'd love to hear in the comments below some of your favorite dyes that you use to make the handles, I'm using one of these 12 inch dowels from Dollar Tree and I'm going to measure at three and six inches and that will be the actual part of the handle and then you'll want to cut four smaller pieces just to fit on the end of the handle so it sticks out of the box the pieces don't matter too much in length just make sure they're all the same size and sand them down and then we'll just hot glue them together.
I decided to paint it with Krylon Fusion gloss black spray paint while they dried. We're going to go ahead and place the base on the box, so hot glue all the sides and then just. slide it into the base, this is what the handles look like after spray painting and I really liked how they turned out. You can make these a more metallic color, however you like, and then just hot glue them on, I wanted too. the front to have a little more design, so I'm going to put it that will say the number one on the front.
This stencil is from Dollar Tree and I will paint it all with Waverly chalk paint and colored ink if you have to do this I would just choose a different number it ended up saying nobody instead of the number one and that bothered me so I would choose any other number to get the part of the number. I'll put the n from one and the o from one there as well and then I just use the eye of the nine for the little dot then I just used a different stencil that I had on hand to write the box vertically since this is more of a farmhouse design. . over it just with a little sandpaper to make it look more worn to fill the box.
I am using these peonies that I purchased from Amazon and there is a link in the description below for these. Some people have mentioned that we should show how we place them. the flowers inside, let me know in the comments if you like us showing how we organize things or not. If you're ever wondering all the products we use, just look at the description below and this is what the finished product looks like. The project was so easy. I just grabbed these rectangular wood planks from Dollar Tree and I'm only going to use three of them, but you can make six if you want.
I will dye them all with the first American dye once it is done. I just need to drill holes in the four corners so we can add our rope. I'm just adding the rope we had on hand. It is this whitish color. I didn't take exact measurements, but I just did it. It was about how big I thought looked good and I cut two the same size. I tried just pushing it into the slot but it didn't fit very well, so when I made the second and third ones, I pushed it in. with a mechanical pencil and that helped the rope go through much easier once you got it through, tie two knots so it doesn't come out and then make a loop around the same side and tie two knots as well and then do the same.
Exactly the same on the other side, tie a rope and make it make two loops on the same side instead of opposite sides. Instead of using a nail, I will use a hook on the wall and it will just hang on the wall. So for this one we're going to start with this wooden decor from Dollar Tree and I wanted it to be more modern so I'm going to remove the jute twine and we're going to fill in these holes you can just use a little bit of putty put a little bit in there and then we'll send it out once it dries that way we can have a nice even surface that we can paint now the paint I'm using is sherwin-williams succulent and I mentioned this paint in a previous video we had been using it to flip furniture and I would love to To know if you like that type of content, let us know in the comments if you would like to see furniture flipping videos and how we were able to.
To make a little extra income with that too, after we have a couple coats of paint, we can move on to staining these little wooden boxes from Dollar Tree. Now I'm using two of them and I'm using the minwax stain in American principles once our stain and paint are completely dry we can move on to gluing them. I'm just going to use a little bit of hot glue and I liked this staggered look here. I also think it would look really nice if one was on top and the other. down or if they were next to each other, side by side, and to finish this project, we're just going to add a command strip on the back.
You could make some, like picture hangers here or even just screw them to the wall. but this works great, it's not a heavy piece, so I'm going to put one here horizontally and then we can hang it on the wall for the next project. I'll be using these craft sticks from Dollar Tree. Arrange them in a diamond pattern and you can make as many diamonds as you want. It's about how long you want them once they're all in place. I only separated the top part from the bottom. One of them will be a template, so we'll do that. just hot glue that on and then I'm going to use that one to make sure all the other ones are the same size with all that hot glue together just line them up like we had them before because we're going to start hot gluing them so when I was putting this together I went quite a bit of time making sure everyone was the same way or liked a certain pattern.
In the end, it doesn't really matter because we'll put small ones. cubes on top where they all connect so you don't even see it anyway when you do any of our projects we use hot glue just for time reasons. We would both recommend using a stronger glue like e6000 for any of our projects as well. If you're ever wondering what products we used there will be a list in the description below, this is what it should look like after all four pieces are together and I'll be using these wooden craft cubes from Dollar Tree just so you can hang. stuff on top of this, I placed the craft cubes in all the places where the craft sticks attached and then I just hot glued them in those spaces when you glue them in, just make sure they are straight and not turned sideways, like this It's how it looks. finished, you can leave it in this natural color or I'm going to go ahead and stain it with this dark walnut stain.
Let me know in the comments below if you prefer it just in natural wood or stained now that it's finished we just put nails under it. the top triangle areas and you can hang jewelry or plants or anything you want for this project. Let's start with these 12-inch dowels from Dollar Tree. You will need four and we will spray paint them. matte black and then two of these boxes also from Dollar Tree. Now I'm going to go ahead and glue these together and then stain them with early American dye and as always, this is where you can customize it to fit your decorating style if you so desire.
I'd like to change it up from what we're doing here, so feel free if you want to paint or stain them something different, that's totally up to you now. One thing to keep in mind when working with these dollar trees. The items won't always be the same size so I tried to line them up as perfectly as possible but it didn't work, one of them was a little bigger than the other so just try to get them. your projects the best you can, but don't stress over the little details, sometimes it's just not going to work and then once we have all of this dyed, we can move on to adding our pegs when you glue them together. go ahead and use some hot glue and stick them on the sides and then you just want to line it up in the corner and I made sure the top of the dowel was flush with the top of the box and then we're going to stick these on the four sides now I chose the 12 inch dials.
I wanted to create a sort of taller planter where you could have some plants draping down or if you wanted you could also put some decor underneath so you could definitely do this. smaller, maybe even use it like the six inch dials would work too, it really depends on how you want to do this and how you want to style it, but I think in the end the taller planter style really worked, especially for the plants I decided to use , I use some kind of hanging eucalyptus from ikea and then some ferns too and I think it looks really good, we leave this city, let's drive outdoors, yes, the countryside is for this project that we are going to do.
I'll be creating a couple of wall decor pieces, I guess you could call them sconces, it depends on how you want to decorate them, but we'll start with a couple of these boxes from Dollar Tree and then four of these pallets. of the dollar tree as well and what we're going to do is start by connecting two of these paddles. I'm going to use a couple of these craft sticks to glue them together and give it a little more support, so the first thing I did here was take two of the craft sticks and glue them on the back here where there's kind of a cross piece of wood.
I'm going to glue them in the middle and then on the two outer parts I'm going to cut a craft stick. lengthwise to fit into the space here and glue them together, it's still on the back but more on the front so we have two different parts that will be glued together and this will help add some strength. You don't need a lot of strength, but you also don't want this to wobble or fall apart and we're not going to put a lot of weight on this anyway, so that won't matter, but you want to make sure it's a little more structurally sound.
Craft sticks also work perfect due to their size. You can line them up with those vertical slats and glue them behind so that you don't see any from the back when you have this facing forward and then all we're going to do here is line up this wooden box on top of that back piece of wood that goes horizontal and glue it in the middle and up from the bottom, you could obviously glue it. this anywhere you wanted, but I thought it was a good spot and then we're going to recreate the exact same thing using two more palettes and one more box and then what we're going to go ahead and do is stain both of them with the early American stain and this It's probably my favorite project in the video, it's very simple but I think it looks absolutely amazing when it's done, it looks very sophisticated, you could decorate it with some succulents, again in the end I chose a kind of air. plant that we got from Walmart for a couple of dollars and then also that hanging eucalyptus from Ikea and you could create several of these and put them on the same wall and it would look absolutely stunning.
For this sign we will use two 8x10 canvases. Pry up the staples with a flathead screwdriver and then take pliers to remove them. I was originally going to make a larger sign, but for this you will only need two canvases and only mark one of the sides so we can cut straight. For all of our cuts we use this Black and Decker jigsaw. There is a link in the description below for this. This is what it will look like after you have cut those pieces out. You'll just want to sand them lightly. It's time. to turn them over now and hot glue the two ends together after gluing them together, we're going to staple them with this Stanley stapler on the back right where they meet and then we're going to add two more staples to the front of the frame. all with minwax dark walnut stain, if you're ever wondering what products we used, how many, go ahead and check our description box.
Now it's time to make the backing so grab a piece of white foam board from Dollar Tree place the frame on top and just trace on the outside don't use scissors on the foam board it would look horrible use a utility knife like this or Some people use the back of a butter knife to give the foam board some texture and it won't look as perfect. I'm going to paint it with Waverly white chalk paint. I noticed that once it was dry, it gave it a more wood-like look. When it is completely dry, you will simply run hot glue around the frame and glue the foam board on top.
This is the cute laundry sticker I found at Dollar Tree. I am absolutely obsessed with the new stickers coming out with Dollar Tree. I measured a little to make sure it was in the center. I mainly looked at it once I removed the decal and then just peel it off. Remove and place on top. I wish this sticker was a rub-on transfer instead of an actual sticker. It leaves a small border around the sticker, but we're going to go over it with mod podge to give it more. To get a matte finish, just take a craft stick or something similar justto get all the bubbles out and make sure it lays flat and like I said before, I went overboard with the matte mod podge for this project, let's start with these woods. planks from Dollar Tree and we will need two packages for this project.
We will start by arranging them and the top one will be one of the sides, the middle one will be the bottom one and then the bottom one will be the other side. To start assembling I grabbed the middle piece and put hot glue on the side and then put the back piece on top of it and then we'll do the same thing for the front so just put hot glue on that middle piece and put the front on. side now to put the rest together, take the middle piece from the next section and glue it to the other middle piece, then run hot glue on the bottom and up the other and attach the front piece and you will continue this process for Along along the entire shelf, this is what it should look like after all the pieces are hot glued, but now we need to add some supports, so I'm going to grab these craft sticks from Dollar Tree and hot glue them. between each of the sections on the bottom and the two sides, then I went in with the dark walnut minwax.
I stained and stained everything after staining everything, I realized that one of the pieces had the grain going the opposite way, like this that I would keep that in mind when you put it together and then it needed a little more support, so I grabbed These jenga blocks are called falling tower blocks at Dollar Tree and I'm going to glue them where four pieces meet. If you're going to do this, I would definitely do it before you stain it, so go ahead and melt some glue if there is any. Glue where you want to put that rattle block and then hot glue one of the sides and the bottom and place it in the corner.
I ended up using six of these jenga pieces, so to attach this to the wall you can put some screws in it. In the past, what I decided to do was grab some nautical rope from the dollar tree and I'm going to tie it on both ends just to give it a more rustic farmhouse look. Once you have cut it to the size you want Take a lighter and burn the ends just to make them cleaner and then you will take some twine and wrap the top as tying a knot with this nautical rope is very difficult and then to decorate it I used a little two frames from Dollar Tree. the glass face and then the lamb's ear and lavender are from Walmart.
If you're wondering how I got the images to look this way, I'll leave a link right here to a video where I showed you exactly how to get this look that you'll need. two 8x10 canvases and one way that I have found that is even easier than removing all the staples is to take one of these knives and cut along the entire length of the canvas and then you can tear it off from the front, it is okay to leave all the staples in this project and then I grabbed one of these puzzles from Dollar Tree and we would just use the wood on the back for this project and that would be the base of our tray.
What I did was just take one of the canvases and trace it so I knew where to cut. I would recommend cutting this with a handsaw in a second. I show you that I use a jigsaw to cut it out but for this puzzle for some reason it started splintering and throwing pieces off and I just don't want any accidents to happen so I used a hand saw or something else once I cut it out. has cut. I picked up one of these five gallon stir sticks and we got ours at Walmart and they work great for a bunch of different projects that I just measured. about how tall I wanted it and it's nine inches so you'll need two stir sticks for this project and it was totally safe to cut it with the jigsaw.
No problems with that now, for the handle that goes across it, this is just a wooden dowel from The dollar tree from Walmart has wooden dowels, but they aren't very thick and I felt like it balanced a little better with one of these . You can use the ones from the dollar tree, though that's fine. I cut it about 10 inches so you can go all the way around and like any other piece we cut, you'll just want to sand it lightly. I will use minwax dark walnut stain to stain everything. Once the stain has dried, we'll start putting it all together.
You'll take the first canvas, turn it over, and then glue that puzzle piece on top at the end. I used three canvases. The tray when I added everything didn't look very balanced. The top was too much so I added a third canvas and it helped balance everything much better. So I found the middle one that's four inches on these canvases and I made a little mark so I could put the stir sticks right in the center and then I just put hot glue right on that line and put the stir stick on top like we mentioned in other videos, We use hot glue to save time.
We would both recommend using something stronger like e6000 to finish the tray. I just added the mango and added it. When I added the third canvas back in, I put the handle a little higher and as I mentioned earlier, the third canvas really helps make it look a lot more balanced for this project. Now we will use three of these cans. I want to make sure I buy these small ones, not the

full

size ones. There's usually like tuna or chicken that come in these and then go ahead and take the wrapper off and we'll spray paint them.
It can be any dark color, really this one. it's just a dark one, I have Rust-oleum charcoal chalk paint and I give it a good coat of spray paint while we're waiting for the paint to dry in our cans, we can move on to the clothespins so for staining. I would like to separate them, you don't have to do this, you can definitely leave them together, but sometimes you can miss different areas as it's hard to get between them when they are together, so I choose to separate them and then dye them. Now I'm using this dark walnut stain from minwax and originally I was going to use a rag but I felt like it was a little hard to get into some of those crevices so I switched to a foam brush and painted it and then wiped off the excess with the rag after we have dyed them all, we can put them back together if you want an easier way.
I would definitely leave it together and try to get as much coverage as possible, it can be a little tricky. It hurts to put them back together, that's just what I choose to do now, as you can see here, some paint is missing from the can. I just did a quick adjustment before this just to make sure everything looked good, so you can seal the paint. on the can if you want, but it's not really necessary as the clothespins will cover all of that and then what we can do is start cutting them out all the way around and then where there's a little bit of paper.
From the label, I would put it on the back and then once they get to the back, you'll need to space them out a little bit so everything fits properly. I wanted to give you a few different options that could continue when it's complete, so the first one is obviously just a little pot, you could put some greenery or flowers in here and I think it would look really pretty like this, another option would be to put some kind of fountain of light there, either That's like a puck light or a candle. These are some smaller candles from Dollar Tree.
I couldn't find the biggest one, but you could definitely put one of those in. I wouldn't make a real candle just for wood and dye of some kind. electric candle I think would work perfectly now another option would be to put a live plant in there or some herbs. I think it would look really nice if you had a pot or liner to put it in with some soil and you could put this in. in your kitchen with some live herbs and then with this little blackboard you could put the names on there. I thought it was a cute and very fun idea, or even sticking it on the front like this one you can see here would definitely be a great option.
You could opt if you choose that option again, you'll just want to make sure you have a liner or a pot to put the soil in and the last option is something like what I mentioned, like a puck light or something else. an electrical source for the light would be a really cool light. You could turn it off like on your patio furniture or something. I think it would look very pretty that way. Let me know what you think in the comments, which option you would choose. If you're doing this, we're going to start with one of these circle boxes from Dollar Tree, they're kind of related to whatever holiday is going on, so mine is this Christmas one and then you go grab a package of these dollar tree skewers. dollar, what we're going to do is we're going to cover all of this with these skewers, so we're going to start by hot gluing one on this side, so go ahead and start wrapping them.
I made a little line of hot glue and then I just put it on and then pushed it for a second. It seemed to stick very well. I don't think you need a stronger glue for this project and then you move on. in a line around it try to make sure you go as straight as possible and then at the bottom just make sure you push all the way down so it's level at the bottom as well and then once I had several lined up I went in with some wire cutters and just cut them off at the top.
I tried cutting several at the same time and it just didn't work so I just went one at a time or a couple at a time. once and it worked fine once those same skewers that we just used were cut off you can reuse them again for another line after cutting that section I realized I could get one more section out of that with the same skewers so a La skewer can give you three separate sections when you get to the end, we kept doing the same thing, we just kept adding all the skewers after cutting them, I just sanded them lightly to make them more uniform as I don't want to.
To fill this entire box with stones, I put just one smaller box on the bottom and then filled the rest with just some paper towels so that only the top layer was filled with stones and then I filled the entire top layer with these. White dollar tree rocks after doing that, I grabbed these succulents, they come in all these different types and a lot of them you have to take out of those little pots or they come in these clips. I was originally going to leave it alone like that. color but it was a little too yellow for me so I went in with this antique Waverly wax and grabbed this dollar tree sponge and went over the whole thing, here's what it looked like when it was finished, I thought it came out really cute, it just gives it Quite a different look, let me know in the comments which one you like best it's a copy of something I saw online but it was for 200 and I'm definitely not going to pay that for something so simple. like this so i took these wooden squares from a dollar tree and i will glue them together as stairs to do this you need to take two pieces and hot glue them on the side of one of them and then place it on the other at a 90 angle degrees and then keep doing the same thing down like stairs, this is how it should look when complete.
Only one package of dollar tree squares is used and we will need to add some support. One option is to grab them. Flip tower blocks over and place them on top where the two pieces meet and on the bottom. Personally I didn't like that it was so obvious. I wanted something a little more minimalist so what I decided to do was grab one of these grill toppers and I'm going to use wire cutters to cut this so that I have just the edge piece so I can hot glue it on there and it will be much more stable Once you've cut out all the pieces, just go ahead and hot glue it together.
This was all I needed to stabilize the entire piece and just remember to add them to each corner. If anyone has any advice on how to stabilize this a little better, this is the only way that worked for me. I tried using nails. on the side and the gum, but they were a little too big for this project, here's what it looked like after adding all the supports on the back. I really like that you can't see them and it's minimal. To finish, I went in with this natural wood stain from minwax. I know it's very hard to see on camera, but it looks very pretty in person and is enough to make the piece look finished for hanging.
I'll show you a clip. one second how I put two nails on the bottom of each platform and then one on the top just to hold everything together and then to decorate I used everything from the dollar tree except the long hanging plants which I'm going to use these pegs. dollar tree we are going to use the large ones and the smaller ones, if I remember correctly, the large ones are 12 inches, the smaller ones are six inches to start, we are going to take three of the 12 inch, the longest dowels and we are going to create a triangle for the base of this project.
This is going to be that triangular succulent plant stand I guess you would call it and I found that it's easier to just line it up on a flat surface and then put a little hot glue on each corner we just want to get that shape and then we can add more hot glue to strengthen them in each corner once they've dried we can go and move around with our vertical pegs again I'm just using the longest pegs they're the 12 inch ones and put a little bit of hot glue on the end andthen they hold it in the corner and let it dry a little.
The good thing about hot glue is that it gives a little bit so you don't. They have to be lined up right in the middle, I would suggest just gluing each one holding it there for a minute while it dries and then once you have all three we can move on to gluing the top part in the center however I can. Look, here's the top, they don't really line up, but like I said, the glue gives a little bit so you can move it around and then we can line them up where they need to be and then we can hot glue them together. and then I would add a pretty good amount right now and then hold it until it dries so they don't slip and fall.
Now we can move on to the next part. I'm going to use the smaller dials now. I can still use the bigger ones. I like to use the smaller ones because if I have to use the larger ones for another project and I end up cutting them all, then I don't have any of those longer ones, so I like to use these smaller ones. When I ever need to use a smaller length, what we want to do is mark at two and a half inches and at five inches and we're going to need three total at this length, so mark them and then we can go ahead and cut it, I just used some cutters of wire to cut them, it works pretty easy, you don't need anything like a jigsaw or hand saw, although if you have a hand saw and don't have these wire cutters, feel free to use them.
That, but they are very easy to cut them so after you have made the cuts you should have three pieces about two and a half inches and after you have cut them I would suggest sanding them a little just to soften those edges and allow them to fit together and look a a little better. Next we will take those three pieces and we will line them. up in a triangle just like we did at the beginning. I found it easier to just place my fingers like this and then glue back in just little touches in each corner so we can get the structure and then you can put it back in after it has dried. and add a little more hot glue for more support so what we are creating is the small triangle part inside the large triangle that holds the succulent so the first triangle we made will be the main frame and then right now .
What we want to do is cut three more dowels that are two and a half inches each and then this will come down from that triangle and create the triangle under the succulents. All this, I'm sure, will do a little. It will make more sense once we get further into the video, but after we cut out those three pieces we can start gluing them together and we're essentially repeating the same steps we did at the beginning of the video with the larger triangle. just on a smaller level so again put a little bit of hot glue on each of these pegs and stick them in the corner and then once they've dried a little bit you can move over to where they join and then glue them all together now.
Once we have that part complete, we can move on to the longer part that goes up from the triangle and connects to the chain. These dials will be a little longer. I measured them at three and a half inches and again we're going to want to make sure we cut three of these and again we're going to do what we did in the previous steps, we're going to put a little bit of glue on each corner and we're going to glue these dowels vertically, don't be afraid, I know you could get a little overwhelmed thinking it has to be perfect right in the middle but I promise the hot glue gives a little bit and you can move it around so put a little bit of glue on each corner and then once they have dried you can Move them and paste them in the center.
If they are using a slightly stronger glue it might be a little harder because I know some of them take a little while to dry. One thing people have told me is to try using them. a mix of e6000 and hot glue so let me know if you've used that method before, if you like using it we might have to start doing that but I would definitely try it if you're looking for something that stays instant. like hot glue and something that will last a little longer like the e6000 and give it a stronger hold, okay now we have the big triangle that will hold everything and then the small triangle decoration that will go in the middle and hang from this chain, I grabbed three links from the plant hangers that you can get at Dollar Tree and now we're going to go ahead and paint everything with this gold spray paint for me personally this was a really fun project to work on, I enjoy it. making these kind of modern geometric designs so let me know guys if you enjoy this kind of decoration let me know in the comments.
I'd love to know what you think and if you'd like to see more of these in future videos. The next part what we want to do is take our little chain after everything has been spray painted we're going to put a little bit of glue in there and then we're going to hot glue that under the top as you can see in this triangle and then I'm going to go Hot glue the bottom of the chain to the top of this other triangular geometric shape. I thought about attaching them, but the way I was doing it didn't look really clean, so I thought a little hot glue would work.
Work, this doesn't weigh much because it's just little wooden pegs and then the succulent doesn't weigh much so I wouldn't worry too much about that and again, we're just using this little succulent air plant from Dollar. tree, I found it easier to take it apart and glue it on the bottom first because it's pretty stiff and you have to work around the other studs and then the other two fit in pretty easily so you should have a nice good idea of what this is going to look like. Now that we're almost done again. I thought it would be really fun to do it, so if you do it, please let us know that we love hearing and seeing the projects you guys make. recreate ours for the base of this project you will need an extra long skewer make marks at 4 8 12 and 16 inches to cut this.
I just used a couple of wire cutters and it's pretty easy to cut and then just cut all of those. lines and you will have four pieces in total. The pieces we just cut will form the side of the base, but now we need to cut the bottom of the base. You will measure a little wider than your glasses. I measured mine. it was about three and one eighth, so I made just three and one eighth inches, then I went back to three and one eighth inches and those are my two lines and that's where I'm going to go back to cutting with the wire cutters with all of our pieces cut out, just we need to sand the ends here I'm just measuring where I want the base to be I didn't have an exact measurement I knew I didn't want it to be right in the middle I wanted it to be a little lower and then just make sure all the lines are the same on the four sticks, you will take two of the longer sticks and hot glue the smaller stick in the middle to the other, the middle stick needs to be cut in half and then just glue the smaller middle pieces onto both sticks when it is dry , glue that middle piece to the other middle piece and then you will do the exact same thing for the other side.
The reason I did it this way is because I don't want one of the sticks on top of the other middle piece because one would have to be taller and I didn't like that look and also the glass couldn't balance in the middle, this is what it looks like the base is complete and we're going to go ahead and paint it with krylon fusion all in a glossy black spray paint and then for the glass I took one in a cool Dollar Tree shape the greenery I'm using it's just from Walmart, you can pretty much grab any greenery from Dollar Tree Walmart or something like that.
This is what it looks like finished with black spray paint. Now all you have to do is place the glass in the center and you're done. I saw these really cool hexagons. boxes from Dollar Tree and I thought this could be a really cool modern planter for this, you'll just need the base and you'll paint it with Rust-oleum white spray paint for the sides. I just used a plunger from Dollar Tree and took from the bottom, measuring from where the plunger was glued, it will measure 5, 10, and 15 inches, making each of the supports five inches long. What we use to cut wood is this Black and Decker jigsaw, it is very affordable and has worked very well. for us and there is a link in the description below with all the pieces cut out, we will just need to sand them to create the piece that will hold the planter.
I'm using a 12 inch dowel from Dollar Tree, you'll need three of them. and I measured them at 3 and 1 8. I stained everything with minwax dark walnut stain, let me know in the comments below if you have a favorite stain we should try. I measured approximately how high I wanted the pot to go and made a mark on the three pieces of wood and that is where I am gluing the smaller pegs. You will glue them all glued upwards on the three pieces. Now line them up so they are evenly spaced and do quite a bit. a little bit of hot glue in the center to hold them in place, this is how it looks fully painted and I also put floral foam inside to hold the artificial plants and we are also going to put moss on top and I didn't want to have to fill everything with moss, the greenery and the moss are also from Dollar Tree.
I'm using this new spray adhesive from Dollar Tree and spraying it on top of all the floral foam and then sticking all the moss on top. I cut just a little bit. from the end and glued the plant inside, now you just need to glue the pot on the base when I finished. I didn't like how bright green the moss was, so I went over it with just a little black chalk paint to brighten it up a bit. a little more boring, you can also use rock soil or a darker moss for this project. You will need six of the 8x10 canvases from Dollar Tree.
The easiest way I've found to remove the canvas is to grab a flat head and simply lift up the staples. and then take some pliers and just pull them out to paint the frames. I used the really chalky white wave paint and applied one coat to all six frames once they were dry. I used Waverly's Antique Wax and dry brushed it on all of them. the edges to give this the chicken wire look, you're going to use three of these trash cans from Dollar Tree. You will start by cutting the top ring. Once this is done, you will do the same with the bottom part. a seam where the basket connects and that's where you'll cut all the way down once it's all taken apart you need to stretch the cord a little to make it more even since all the canvases are eight by ten you'll cut just a little less than eight in a little less than 10 for each of the pieces, cut out some of the pieces and then you have a line that you can go off of, you can leave it black, but I spray painted all the trash cans.
Using the bright silver Krylon spray paint, once I was done I dry applied some of the Waverly chalk paint and colored ink to give it a little bit of an older, worn look to attach the wire to the canvas. I'm using this Stanley. staple gun and there is a link for that in the description below. I tried to make sure that one of the edges was lined up and then any excess that we have, we'll just cut it off once I've finished all six pieces, it's time. To hot glue the sides together and put them together I put hot glue in the middle and then on the edges and then I'll take that staple gun and put them in between all of them if you want this to last longer I would use something a little bit stronger like e6000 , then do the same with the rest of the pieces, once they have dried it's time to glue all the big pieces and I'm just doing the same thing: I'm gluing in the middle and then gluing the back and then stapling the cans On the front, there are dollar tree options, but I just bought these two for 97 cents at Walmart.
I'm going to do a little bit of distressing with the Waverly chalk paint and the colored ink, so I'm going to cross over with this brush and then I'm going to take a wet paper towel and wipe most of it off once most of it's wiped off, just I rubbed it to give it a more textured look. Four of the canvases will be holding photos, so I'm taking that old wax once again and just dry brushing it onto this clothespin and then I'm also painting two of them with the Waverly white chalk paint to attach the cans. .
I'm using just a clear zip tie now it's time to add the clothespins they didn't fit between the holes so I cut just a little bit off so I can put them inside and then for the greenery I'm using lamb's ears from Walmart and also just a Also some white flowers for our next project, we'll create a wooden planter and start using these 6x8 canvas frames. Now I was a little inspired by a planner I saw and I think it was on the IKEA website and it was much larger even though it was outdoors so I thought it would be fun to recreate it and do it on a much smaller scale.
Go ahead and remove the canvas from the frames to begin. Let's use these. The craft sticks come in a pack of 60 and what I'm doing is just cutting them right at the top where the curve starts to straighten out on the stick and then we'll usefour of these for each corner of the planner. By cutting the first one, you can go ahead and use it as a template, line it up with the other sticks and cut where needed now to cut them. All I'm using is a regular pair of scissors, these actually cut very easily, and these craft sticks.
They are also from the dollar tree. I didn't really take any very hard steps when creating this, I just cut at the top where it started to curve and then when gluing these you just want to glue them into the corner and then give it a little bit of space at the top as you can see , it is not flush with the canvas frame, it sticks out just a little. Now we want to create the base for our flower pot, we can go ahead and use our other canvas frame and get started. When gluing the craft sticks I ended up using eight for the base, some of them may hang off the edge a bit, that's okay, you can go ahead and use a utility knife like this and cut them off, they will come off very easily now that our base is complete, we want to go ahead and glue it to the rest of our pot.
I ended up measuring an inch and a half from the bottom and gluing the rest of the wooden sticks surrounding the pot back in there. I didn't measure any specific sizes, I just placed them where I thought they looked good on the box and then from there I made my line to cut on the top and then once I had my template back I just lined it up on the rest of the sticks and cut the rest for the longer sides of the pot. I ended up using nine sticks and then for the shorter side I ended up using seven for this final piece, you want to make sure it lines up with the other longer sticks that way, there will be no gaps once I have completed all four sides, we can move on to staining or painting, we ended up using this dark walnut stain and went through everything to finish our planter, we can move on. and place our greenery or flowers, we ended up using these picks from Dollar Tree.
I thought they looked very impressed with these, in fact you can find similar ones at Walmart for just a little. Plus, I ended up using eight of these and loved how they turned out for this flashlight. I wanted a more solid base, so I grabbed one of these square decorative pieces from Dollar Tree and then here I have the 12 inch dowels that I'm going to cut to eight inches and place them in the four corners. Once they're all cut out you're going to put just a little bit of hot glue on the corner and then you're going to take one of the dowels and you're just going to glue it into the corner and hold it until it's dry, then we're going to take four of the six inch dowels and we're going to measure the space between each of the dowels and that's how long you'll cut them all out, then just add little dots of hot glue and glue them together.
At the top, the lengths in between will vary a little, so simply lay the dowel all the way to the edge and mark where you need to cut it and cut each one individually. Now it's time for the top, it's going to grab that six inch peg one more time and I. cut them to five and a quarter inches and then the easiest way to attach them is to hot glue them on opposite corners and then touch them on top and add a little bit of hot glue so they have something to rest on, then add the dow to the last corner and make sure they are all even at the top, then I added a bead to the top of the dollar tree and it is the largest size.
I spray painted everything with glossy black krylon for the little ring on top. I am using this floral wire and I wrapped it around one of the paint containers and it made a very pretty circle and then I will place it inside hot glue where they connect and then I will slide it back into the bead and finally I added a candle that I bought it from Walmart and then I put some greenery on it just one round, this is Michael's lamb's ear, it's part of a garland, but you can definitely use the lamb's ear from Walmart and it's two for two dollars.
We're going to use this one for little kids. dollar tree puzzle and we don't need any of the little pieces we can go ahead and get rid of them and actually we're going to turn it over and use the back because it's a nice piece of wood and I sanded it right there. You don't need to do that, so don't worry about that step. The first thing we're going to do is go ahead and stain the entire board with this dark walnut stain after we've stained the entire board. The next thing I'm going to do is create a small box or drawer to place to the side.
Here I'm just using these craft sticks from Dollar Tree and I cut them right where they start to curve and we'll just use the straight ones. part of these sticks, once you have cut one of them to the proper length you can go ahead and use it as a template and cut the rest the same size for the sides of the box. I measured an inch and a half and that's where I cut all of these pieces, I ended up having eight of the long pieces on eight of the shorter pieces and in the end I only ended up using six of the long pieces and I'll explain what I did to get them done to begin with.
What we want to do is line up four of the long pieces and then we'll use one of these little rotating tower blocks to glue them on each end to give it a little more stability. Another reason I wanted to glue these rotating tower pieces together. It's for these side pieces that it gives us a little more flat space to glue these pieces together instead of just trying to glue them to the end of all the other craft sticks. Once we've done that on both sides, we can Take another rotating tower piece and we're going to glue it here on the end and I put it almost in the center of those side pieces that you can see here, so we're going to leave a little space on each side and again, what?
What it will allow us to do is give us more space to glue the next two pieces together. We are going to use our last two long length craft sticks to glue to the bottom of our box. I was originally going to make four in the front and four in the back, but then I forgot that there would be no bottom, so I ended up just using four for the front and then two craft sticks for the bottom of the box and one more time to make it a little more easy. stick our box on the real wood board.
I'm gluing a wobbly tower block to each side here and then I'm going to put a little bit of glue on each of those wobbly tower blocks and glue them to the board now that we've completed the basic project. We can add some details to make it look much better. Here's some greenery we got from Walmart. I think it's a dollar each and we probably use two, so I think it would cost two dollars for the greenery we're using. It looks great or you can also use some of these we got from Ikea. Part of the lawn.
I really like how it turned out with the grass. Now it's a little more expensive to do it, but with everything that's going on now. We're not trying to go out and buy new products, so we use things we have on hand for a lot of the crafts we make. We ended up putting hooks on it as well so we could put the keys on it. You could really turn this into all kinds of different things, maybe like a jewelry box. If you would like to add more hooks or boxes, let us know in the comments what you would do if you used it more as jewelry or maybe even for makeup.
If you want to add another box or if you like to start this project, we will take two cans from the dollar tree. The writing is really nice for other projects, but for this one I didn't want it there, so I just grabbed it. 100 acetone and removed all the letters, distressed them with chalk paint in the ink and mineral color, so here I am taking a sponge and going over everything with the mineral chalk paint and then I'll go in later with the ink and go over all the edges , so after the thin layer of mineral chalk paint, go in with the ink and go over all the high spots.
This is all finished. I just received this greenery from ikea. You can use greenery from the dollar tree. This is just what we had on hand, so now we're going to build the actual hanging mechanism for these plants, so I grabbed two of these wooden stakes there in the garage sale section at Walmart and made marks at 34 inches and 17 inches on both. them and that's where we're going to cut them. What we use to cut all of our wood is this Black and Decker jigsaw and there is a link in the description below for the part we will actually use to hang the plants. it's a Dollar Tree plunger and we're cutting just the bottom part where the plunger turns and then we went ahead and sent all the edges and then I stained everything with the dark walnut minwax stain.
You will need to drill six holes in this project. so two inches down on each of the sticks and then on the ends of the plunger to assemble it, we'll put a little bit of hot glue right where that hole is and then we'll put the nail through and just hot glue the two sides together and Then, Once they are in place, put some hot glue on the end of the plunger and then stick the nail in completely. If it sticks out a little, just take a hammer and tap it down once you do the same to the other side. some dollar tree floral wire and this is how we're going to hang the pot after we cut them out, I spray painted them black so they wouldn't be that gold color and then you're going to wrap them over the top and wrap them around. around both handles and then you'll do the exact same thing on the other side.
We're going to start with these little pieces of the dollar tree puzzle and we're going to go ahead and remove all the pieces, we're not going to need any. We want to make sure we sand this text on each one so it doesn't show and then again we'll go over it and stain it with that dark walnut stain once we've stained all of our pieces. We can start gluing them. I started with one end and started gluing them all over. The next part is to complete the pull and I thought it would be a good idea to take one of these dollar tree balls and cut it out. in a quarter and what we want to do is cut it in half to start and then take that half and cut it in half, which will give us a quarter of the ball and then I think it looks like a post that you would find. in many drawers today and the next part is to give it a good coat of this charcoal oxide chalk paint while we wait for the paint on our pole to dry, we can create the base of our drawer by simply using a little bit of This chalk board Dollar Tree foam I just lined it up and traced along the bottom to give us a square to go into and then something to place that square piece on.
I'm just gluing on some of these little square pieces from Dollar Tree. at the bottom and that way we can slide that piece of foam all the way to the bottom and it will have something to rest on without having to go through the entire last part of our box to add that post and I'm using another one of these little square pieces to measure the center of where I want this to go and I'm just going to glue it on because I'm using this piece again, as we're going to use the tower blocks from earlier in this video, it gives us more surface area to glue this on instead of just trying to glue those little edges of the piece of plastic and I think if you do this, it will be much easier for you to get it.
Made to complete our project, we will be using these flowers that we got from Amazon and will have a link for the ones in the description below. For this project, we will use this wire basket and this dollar tree light. and we're going to create a little table lamp and it's a really simple project, but I think in the end it looks absolutely beautiful and high end. You could use this in some industrial farmhouse decor, even some rustic decor, depending on how you want to style it. So the first thing we're going to do here is just cut a little bit of this wire in the middle of the basket that way we can run our light there.
Once we're done cutting those pieces we can move on to painting and for the light I unscrewed the bulb just a little so I can put the tape a little lower and that way we don't have to worry about getting paint on there and then during the rest of the bulb. I just used some aluminum foil to wrap it and it seemed to work great. You can also use a plastic bag to tape it, however the ones with actual zippers on those ziploc bags don't work very well because they are very rigid. Use it as a little sandwich bag without zippers and you should be fine and like I said the foil worked perfect for me although I like it and then once we have it wrapped we can go ahead and paint them now like I used.
It was some Krylon spray paint and it's going to be flat black and just to show you guys, when I wrapped this, I wrapped it a little too low, so there was a little bit of the orange or gold color that it was. it's shown as you can see right there so when you wrap it just be careful to keep an eye on it because it was easy although I just wrapped it again and painted that part so next we're going to use one of these little crafts. dollar tree boxes and I'm just taking a ruler and going from corner to corner so I can get a center mark and then we'll go ahead and puncha hole so our light can be accessed at the bottom here and for mine I didn't have a piece that was big enough for the whole light uh so if you have one I would recommend using it so you can replace the batteries or you could cut out a little bit of the section so you can access the batteries like I did you could only turn the light on and off so you would have to remove it if you needed to change the batteries and then right here for the spot I'm using this spot early minwax Americana I'm going to go ahead and stain the entire box and this is what I was talking about.
I stuck it where you could at least turn it on and off, but I wasn't really thinking about changing the battery, so flip it over and you have access to the switch, but you can't change the battery, so keep that in mind. If you want to change the batteries, you will have to cut a little more and then turn on the bulb. all you want to do is remove the plastic bulb and then the wiring will come out. You can slide it through the basket and then screw it back down and up, and the last little part here is to add a few dabs of hot glue to the corners so that the basket can be secured to the light and I know it's a little different, but I love trying new things and trying to think outside the box, so let me know if you like how it turned out.
I think it would look great in as a home office on a table or even some nightstands with some other decor, but I hope you enjoy it. We'll start with a pack of these rectangular dollar tree wood pieces and they come with six in a pack for each shelf you'll only need two so go ahead and set aside two for each shelf and of course there will be three shelves to make the shelf . What we're going to do is just glue the ends together and then once the ends. They're glued together, we're going to turn it over and just to make it more stable we're going to hot glue a little piece of a craft stick from Dollar Tree and right at the seam we're just going to hot glue it.
Just to give it more stability and make sure it doesn't fall apart, I decided to put it all together first before staining it because I had some feedback on the last video and several videos before that people were having a hard time sticking things together afterwards. The things were stained so definitely try doing this first before staining them and see if that helps. I found this worked well for me, but we haven't always had the problem of staining things not working, so go ahead and do this with the other two shelves, when those are done, we'll go in with the early American stain that we're going to use.
Set them aside and let them dry for a while and we're going to work on the tacos, so I grabbed this. I think they are six inch wooden dowels from Dollar Tree and we will only need eight of them for this project and then I painted them all with Waverly chalk paint in the ink color and then I'm also going to paint and with the same ink color these long skewers also from Dollar Tree when you paint them, don't paint the ends you'll want. To make sure that you have a really good bond on all the edges, so what I did was just on all the corners.
I'm putting one of the dowels in again, we're just using hot glue for time reasons, but we definitely used e6000 or wood glue in combination with this so it has a stronger hold on the ends once I have them on all four corners, it's time to add the next shelf so the easiest way I found was to turn everything over and then add hot glue to the bottom of the shelf and then add the top of the dowels and then do the same on the other side when you use hot glue it still bends pretty easily so you don't have a problem with it being too rigid so you bend it pretty easily so you can manipulate where they go.
Now we have two shelves and we're going to add another layer of pegs, so like we did before, go all the way into each corner and add another set of pegs. Try to align them as perfectly as possible with the bottom layer so it looks like there is only one straight peg going from the bottom to the top. How do trees rely on the sun when it's cold and don't miss the sun? leaves that they left behind could be to make the floor shine and finally we're going to add our top shelf and then I did the same thing one more time, I flipped it over and then we're going to add little spots where we're going to put the top of the pegs and then we will simply place them on top.
Now that this rack is complete, we're going to add the x to the back and to do that we're going to grab the long skewers that I made. I don't do any exact measurements I just measure from one end to the other and then I cut it just with the wire cutter and then you can make any adjustments if it's too long you can cut a little bit if you need to and then I went in with the hot glue gun and I put a small dot on the top, in the middle and then on the bottom and then I kept it there until the second x dried I did exactly the same thing, I just measured it and then cut with the wire cutters and on the second one It will arch a little because it goes over the first skewer and the only thing you have to make sure is that the top part is very well glued so that it can be folded in the middle. that's fine by me since, first of all, the skewers bend very, very easily for this project.
I just grabbed two of these gold baskets from Dollar Tree. I noticed that they have released a ton of these golden baskets that I was looking for. They threw a lot of them away a few months ago and then of course they throw them all away from time to time, we're going to take one of these rectangular pieces of wood from the dollar tree and then a square one, I'm going to spray paint all the metal baskets with this oil rubbed bronze spray paint and then stain the two pieces of wood with the first American stain and then once those baskets are finished and stained, we're going to cut the baskets since we're going to leave the wood. like this in the front and that will be kind of part of our shelf, so on the bottom one you don't want to cut all the way to the back, you want to leave that bottom so the wood has a place to sit. and I'll show it to you right here so you can see that there's that bottom layer that I can rest on and then we're just going to leave the back grille so that it has a nice decorative purpose in the easiest way. it's just cutting all the wire first and then trying to cut it very close after removing most of the wire so now that we have most of the wire bend the bottom a little bit so it's flatter and then we're going to go in and cut those pieces as close as possible so that the back is nice and clean.
When I made the second shelf, I noticed that you can bend these pieces back and forth and it almost makes a very, very clean cut or it just breaks and that works much better than trying to cut it. This is what it should look like after cutting everything out. Now I realize you probably should have cut everything out first. and then I spray painted it, so now we're going to lay out the piece of wood and attach any wood to the metal this way, what we found is that it's a lot easier to flip it over and just hot glue the wood together this way and just place it on top just load it you won't see it anyway and again you can use e6000 in combination with the hot glue or you can use wood glue whatever works for you we just use this hot glue for reasons of time and then spray painted two full size skewers with the oil rope bronze spray paint.
Now we're going to work on that second shell for this second one, you won't need to cut the bottom like we did before, you'll just want to cut around it, so as you see here, you'll just want to cut around and then leave all the backing like we did before, like I said in the first one, just cut off most of the metal and then go in and make it look good. where I realize that you can just fold them back and forth, which ends up being a lot easier than cutting them, so when everything looks nice and clean we're going to do the same thing we did before, just make sure the piece of wood is centered and simply hot glue all the contact points of the metal to the wood and make sure it is secured.
This part doesn't really give you any stability. I thought it looked really good, so with the skewer we're just going to put it on. On the side I didn't take any measurements again but I just put it on the side from the top corner to the bottom corner of the wood and then cut it with the wire cutter and then just adding a little bit of hot glue and then placing it from one end to the other then I turned it over and used another skewer and then I did the exact same thing measuring from one end to the other and then I cut it with the wire cutter and then I hot glued it on that's how it turned out afterwards I thought It looked very industrial, rustic and modern and I think it looks very, very nice and now we're going to move on to the second one and do the same thing with the skewers.
So what we're going to do is turn it over and then do the same thing with the skewer and measure from one end to the other and cut it, add a little bit of hot glue and put it on there. I don't need a ton of hot glue just because it's for a decorative purpose just to make sure it was secured, I added just a little bit of hot glue to the back and then to cover the parts. that weren't painted or where we cut the pins, I went in with just a little bit of black paint and covered those parts and then the top pieces where we hot glued them I painted black to make it look like they were welded together to In this project we are going to make a little table lamp and we're going to use one of these craft boxes from Dollar Tree.
You only need the lid, so go ahead and save the bottom for another craft and then what are we going to do? What I'm going to use are these craft sticks from Dollar Tree. It would only take a couple of bundles depending on how big or how many of these lamps you want to make, a couple of bundles should work fine for you and then what I did was I just cut off one end. so it was straight and then I moved it closer to the craft box and then I cut the other end so it was the same length as the actual lid and then we can use this as a template for all the other sticks that I'm going to cut now, I'm going to cut them all the same length, when we start putting them together, we'll trim them a little bit and then I'll use four of these 12 inch dowels from Dollar Tree and I'll go ahead and spray paint them. those with matte black or if you just have black chalk paint or acrylic paint that will work well too.
Once we have our pegs painted, we can go ahead and glue them into each corner. I'm just using a little hot glue, I should. they work well for this project, we're not really going to have a lot of weight or anything with these, so if you want to use hot glue for this, it should be fine, as always, although you can use something more than welcome. stronger for a longer lasting hold and then when gluing them I just put a little bit of glue on the bottom and then run it over to the side and then I'll go ahead and glue the dowel as close and tight as possible in that corner. possible to make them all as uniform as possible, we have all the dowels glued there, we can move on to glue our craft sticks here and you just want to leave a little space between each one.
I didn't take any actual measurements, I just looked at it and picked one that I felt was appropriate for the size of this project and then I'm gluing this front piece here. What I would recommend doing is pick a side that you're on. I'll have it as the front so you can try to keep it as clean as possible and, like I guess, even and then keep it as the front so that if you get off the back, it doesn't really matter anymore. That That's going to be the back because what I did here was I started at the front and then I moved around.
I would try to do it a little differently and I'll show you here in a moment. What I mean is that I ended up doing the front and then the two sides so I could try to control it and keep it as clean as possible and then that way when you get to the back, like here, if things don't quite match up. up as good as you wanted or there are some pieces that stick out more, it's not going to matter because it's on the back so try to stick with one side that is the front and then to the side, so here you can see I have I went up in front and then I'll add the two sides so you can see.
I've done the front and then the two sides and now the back is much easier. I can just put them here, no It doesn't have to look that good, so that's what I would try to do, I hope it makes sense to you, start with the front and then add the two sides and then like that when you get to the part from behind, it is not so crucial if things are not like that. lining it up perfectly once you have all the sticks glued all the way around and to the top you can leave it as is or if you need to trim a little you can make mine have a little bit of The pin was sticking out so I grabbed some wire cutters and I went ahead and cut theexcess from there so that it is flush with the top.
The next part is completely optional, it just depends on how you want to finish this project I'm using. first american minwax stain to give it a darker look i wanted it to be modern but also rustic industrial filler so if you wanted to leave it as is or not even paint the skewers or tacos i mean at first you could just leave them as is and I think it would look great with a boho beach decor with that natural wood and then to finish this off all we have to do is add our puck light so we can complete that lamp for this project.
I'll need six of these little popsicles from Dollar Tree. What I decided to do was put two of them together, so I'm going to run hot glue in the middle and then I'm going to add one of these popsicle sticks and put it in the middle. For stability, hot glue worked perfectly well for me on this project and will hold as much weight as I would like here, so just a few, like decorative plants and picture frames, candles, that sort of thing, can hold a decent amount of weight, but If you want it to be much stronger, I would use wood glue or e6000.
You'll just want to do the same with all six palettes now that they're glued together. I'm going to take eight six-inch dowels. from a dollar tree and hot gluing them in all the corners, this will allow us to put another level on top of the pallets, so you will glue them in each of the corners, just wait for it to dry and then here In a minute you we'll flip it over so we can glue the other side to the bottom of the other pallets. This is what it should look like when you're done with the first one and then you're going to turn the other paddle over and flip it. this one so everything is upside down and then you're going to put hot glue on the bottom one and then you're going to put all the pegs on top just make sure they're in the same place on all the corners now that we have the first two levels complete and we're just going to add the third one so for the third one you're going to do what we did with the first one and you're going to add the six inch dowels to all the corners at the top and then here in a second we're going to flip it over like the other ones and hot glue the bottom , so like I said, we're going to flip it over and then we're going to add hot glue to all of those corners.
Just make sure everything is upside down. When you do this, you can leave it at the natural color like this, but I wanted a little more modern farmhouse style, so I'm going to use this minwax stain. It is the early American color. This is what it looks like after dyeing it and I think it turned out very, very pretty. You can leave it. like that, but I wanted this metallic look on all sides, so I'm going to use this cardstock that we got from Dollar Tree. I'll just use the blue color we had on hand. make this as big or as small as you want, but I made mine about an inch and a half, marked the paper all the way to the top and then just connected all the lines and cut it out with a pair of scissors and then I'm going to use the one I cut out first as a template for threeothers, so we'll have four total for the four corners, but I remember now that we have all of those cut out, you just need to fold them in half as they'll go around the corner and then line them up with the corners. and draw a line on top so you can cut it.
I used that length for the four corners, then painted them all with Krylon matte black, now it's time to hot glue it on and just add a little bit. of hot glue on all the little popsicles and then you'll just put the paper on top. We want to believe that when it was finished I realized how much you could see the pegs and I didn't want you to be able to see them, I wanted it to look like it had a metal frame, so I just went in with some Waverly ink chalk paint and I painted all the pegs.
Now you can see that all the pegs match the paper perfectly for this project. You will also need another dollar tree mirror and then once again simply scrape off the letters using some windex and an eraser. You will also need three of the six-by-eight dollar tree canvases. The easiest way to remove the canvas is to use a flat head screwdriver and pry up the staples and then you can use pliers to remove the staples from the base. We're going to use these craft sticks from Dollar Tree and just hot glue them all over the bottom of one of the canvases if there's any.
A little bit left over on the sides, you'll want to just take a utility knife and cut it off. Now we are going to assemble all the canvases, just hot glue the corners and place the canvas on top, then you will do it one more time with the third canvas, you want to see how tall you want your mirror. I made mine at eight inches. You don't want to hot glue them now like I do because you want to take them out to spray paint them, so here I hot glued them. I then hot glue them on top to give it the triangle look.
If you make this to make it the perfect shape, just don't put too much hot glue on the bottom so you can grab it easily. and then I painted it with Rust-oleum Gold spray paint. Once they're dry go ahead and hot glue them together and then you'll be done with the mirror so put hot glue on both ends of the triangle and then slide the mirror in and tilt it however you want and then hold it there until it's dry. I was going to hot glue some of the dollar tree beads together. I spray painted them gold, but I liked how it looked much nicer.
Much cleaner, this project will be very simple and easy. I bought this puzzle a long time ago and I thought it would be cool to make a modern decor piece and what we're going to do is use some gold spray paint. and give it some layers. I think it's really cool how it turned out and you can still see the wood grain, but it might be a little too bulky for modern. I'm not sure. Let me know in the comments what you think. for this rack you're going to need the extra long skewers from Dollar Tree and you're going to take four of them for the frame and you're going to go ahead and cut the ends off of all of them once you do that it's 30 inches and then 15 inches and that's it. where you will cut them all out now that they are cut you will also need six inch wooden dowels from the dollar tree and one of these metal signs they will need to be glued together in a triangle shape so I grabbed the metal sign and I knew. where I needed them to meet and then I put some hot glue.
If you decide to do this, use a combination of hot glue and e6000 just to hold everything together. You will have to repeat this for four triangles with one of the triangles in place. down, take one of the six inch pegs and place it on top and then you will grab another six inch peg, place it on the bottom of the triangle and then another one take out the other end with one of the other triangle pieces, place it on the In the bottom, put another six inch dowel on top and then you will hot glue those bottom parts in the middle, then I hot glue the middle sign for the front, you will just take the last two pieces of the triangle and the will hot glue on top and then I sprayed the whole thing with two coats of Rust-oleum gold spray paint when I was done I realized it was a little flimsy so I added another dowel to the front and back and then made sticks at the bottom to reinforce the center, I'm sure you will.
You also want to add these pegs for structure purposes, if you want something to be attached to the top of the shelf you need to add them, you will want to glue them in a triangle type pattern, like everything else, to give you the structure that you need and what I'm doing here you're going to do it on the other side as well and then once you're done, come back in with the gold spray paint one more time and then for the decoration that's going to be on the shelf that I'm using. this face from Dollar Tree and this vegetation also from Dollar Tree.
For this project I started with two packages of these wooden planks from Dollar Tree. What I did was I just placed them how I wanted them to be, so I put four on one side. and four down on the other if you had a piece of wood that would work perfect for this project I felt like one pack wasn't enough so for the second pack I just used two just for the top and then put it on. Together I decided to hot glue the two panels together this way and did it all the way. Hot glue works great for me for this project.
You can use wood glue, although that would probably work just fine. You don't need to use e6000. For this, it would be too strong of a grip, I just don't think it's necessary, but you can use it if you want. Once that was done, I decided to hot glue them together like this and put them together to just make Everything is one piece, but this is not the best way to put it together. You'll see it here in a minute. I decided to turn it around and use some. They are called craft sticks at Dollar Tree and I put it all together this is how I would do it.
Do it if you were to put this together, the hot glue makes it very messy in the middle. You see a big long line when you do the other sides, you don't really see it, but when you do the big one. long line looks a little hot glue. I would also put them horizontally and then do some vertical ones. I don't know why I did them all vertically so I would just do that which makes it really safe in the end it was very safe it worked perfect for this project there are little tiny gaps but you don't really see them so continue with the popsicle sticks and then on top I just had to cut the popsicle stick to fit like I did.
I said that although it really works perfect, I had no problems and then I went over the areas right on the back and added a little bit of hot glue now that we have a solid piece or if you're just starting out here with your spare piece of wood, go ahead and stain it with this early American dye and then I'm going to use this vase filler. I bought it from Ross for six dollars and I thought it would be really cute to make a heart out of this. I've seen some similar things on Pinterest or we have a business.
I don't know if you've seen it. I think they were on Shark Tank, but it was just a local company here in Utah called Ecoflower. I think they changed their name. now, but they made all kinds of wooden flower designs like this and I thought they were super cute, so they give the same look for a much cheaper price, so I just made a heart shape and then started gluing them all together. on the little heart stencil, that's all I did, it was a really fun project, I just got to put on some music, sit there and glue them all together, it was really calm and fun.
I would definitely recommend doing this project, which What I bought from Ross has a few different sizes. I also just saw a package from Target. I think it was around ten dollars and had slightly larger wooden flowers, so you can do that too with the ones I bought. Ross, these aren't wooden flowers, they have a sort of foamy texture and you'll have quite a few left over that we'll use for the next project, so like I said, keep circling your heart and make sure you keep it inside. those lines so that it keeps its shape now that we have the heart shape made.
I really love how this turned out. I think it's super cute. I think it has a very minimalist bohemian look and like I said, we have quite a few of them. About that we are going to use for the next project and we have a lot of people asking how we hang our projects so this one specifically I'm going to use this hanger that we just received in a package from Walmart and We use these picture hangers and I'm just gluing them on Hot on the back, since it's super lightweight most of the time you'll want to nail it with the little nails they have, but since the wood is so thin, I'd just go through the front for this project.
I'm going to use these skewers from Dollar Tree. I originally wanted to use the extra long skewers but couldn't find any at my local store so I guess we'll have to wait just a little bit. A few more weeks or even months for that, but I grabbed a bunch of them. I've used this pack many times so I don't know exactly how many I grabbed, but then I used a wire cutter and just cut off all the ends. of each of them, when I was done I lined them all up, took a pencil and started drawing random lines where I was going to cut and then again with the wire cutters I just cut each of the pieces and kept them in order so that when Let's put it back together super easy now that we have all our pieces, it's going to look like a mess and if you've seen other people's videos and they made it a lot easier it's because I haven't.
I've seen someone do this before and I always choose the hardest way to do something, so I make sure one side is completely even and then I grab a piece of tape so everyone stays on the same line so I can get in. With this dye once again, I'm using the first American dye, we got it at Walmart, we love it, we use it for everything, as you know, then it was time to turn it around, which was very scary, butI ended up getting it all. It ran out and I only lost one, so I placed that back, I think it was in the right place, and then I dyed the entire back, which ended up being the front and ends.
I decided to glue them all onto a piece of foam board. I just cut a random piece. square of foam board and then I'll cut it out later so I'll just lay it on top and then I'll take each piece one by one and hot glue them to order. This is a tedious process, but I believe it arrived. It came out really really cute, I think it would look a little better if you used the extra long skewers that the dollar tree comes with, but like I said, I went in and just took one by one in order and hot glued them to line up on the top so that it was completely even when I finished the top row I decided I wanted to cut the side just to make it easier to maneuver.
You can do this before or after it is finished. It doesn't matter too much. I just set this rule. To figure out where to cut straight, I took my utility knife and went across the side and then went right next to the wood and cut out the entire foam board and then all you have to do is add the bottom section. so it's easier to add a dot to the top and a dot to the bottom of the actual stick and then place it where it needs to go. This should be very easy as you have all the pieces online if you didn't already.
You are going to have to solve a very interesting puzzle. When I did it, my ends were a mess. Also, you can probably make a full length skewer after you've done the variation on the side where you cut them. but I didn't want to waste so many skewers on this project so I cut the foam board on the back and then I'm going to grab the wire cutters and cut the entire bottom to give it a straight line, grab this hexagon. dollar tree box and if you can't find any of those you can definitely work with one of the circular boxes that they have year round what I'm going to do is cut the top off so it's just the outside of the shape and then for the other box you're just going to leave the lid as is so you're just going to do this with one of the lids this is what it looks like after you separate it from the top and then we're going to go ahead and lightly sand these sides so they look Much cleaner and not as dirty.
Then I painted everything with Waverly white chalk paint that we got from Walmart, everything you will need to paint. It's the other lid from the other box and then the one we cut off now it's time to add the pegs. These dowels are just the 12 inch ones from the Dollar Tree and I just put a little hot glue on the corner and I'm I'll do this for three or four of them and then we'll add the other cap that we cut. Now that the top cap has something to hold on to, I'm going to put some hot glue on the very top and place the cap on top the same way the other hexagon is on the bottom now that they're together we just need to do basically the same every way just keep hot gluing the bottom and top and place your dowel pin just make sure they are about the same distance apart so it looks really nice.
I tried to put a little on the other side so it doesn't warp. I don't think this is necessary. It was fine even if you don't do it on the other side, I would just work around the entire shape. This is how far I got with one package of tacos, so we'll use another package. To round off another section of this flashlight, if you are using a different shape, you probably won't need as many pegs. Also, it depends on how far apart you space them, if it's closer you'll need more dowels if it's farther apart. You won't need as many so this is my third pack of dowels.
Now I'm going to use the fourth pack of dowels and then I needed one more pack just to do this little section so you'll have leftover dowels when When it was done I felt like it needed a handle so I grabbed this leather we got forever ago. I think Michael's or Hobby lobby always try to get 50 off there, but I went ahead and cut it in half since the handle was just right. a little too thick and then I'm going to glue it to the sides of the hexagon to decorate it. I just put a larger candle and a smaller candle inside.
You can do many different things with this cute flashlight. You can even do many different things. Leave it empty, but remember that since they are candles, don't light it if there is anything in the path of the flame for this project. I've really wanted to use this bamboo windshield for a while since I saw it come out for our local dollar. tree I thought these could be really cool handles for any type of tray or basket. What I did was just cut everything out so I was left with just the pieces and nothing else for the base of this tray that I'm going to use in This wooden puzzle from Dollar Tree we really like to use them if we need a solid piece of wood.
I took out all the pieces. Our kids love to have fun and just paint them, but you can just stick them on the back where they were, maybe. it gives it more structure and stability, but honestly it's going to be fine without it, so I dyed it with our favorite dye, which is minwax's first American dye and now they have these really cute stencils from Dollar Tree. We found this one that has this really cute design and I'm going to use the same white paint that we used before, which is Waverly chalk paint just in the white color.
I decided to start in the middle because it's like a mosaic I didn't want to start at the edges, I didn't want it to look a little weird so I wanted my design right in the center and then I'll do it on top the same way as faded away. a little bit but I liked that it gave it an almost textured look and then of course you have to do all the sides it will go through the sides which is totally fine you want it to look really nice the only thing I'm not a big fan of the line that you can see in the middle, but if you did the design maybe a little bit differently and didn't do the little triangles it probably wouldn't give it that effect and then I moved on to the handles so I tried cutting them with the cutters of wire.
This kind of work, you can definitely do it this way, but it's a little rough. I would definitely use the jigsaw if I had to do this again. I cut some kind of knot so it was very clean and they were both the same size and then of course I sanded it lightly to connect it. I thought it would be cool to use this cable. It's in the hardware section of Dollar. tree instead of using thread I wanted it a little more clean and bohemian so what I did was thread it through the hole in the bamboo and then I'll put the wire on the back of the tray and hot glue it.
Basically I just put the cable on the back and then folded the handle forward. How high did you want it? I'll flip it over and hot glue it. It works great, was really secure and I loved how it looked. In the end all I did was put on a small line of hot glue and then grabbed something so I could press it down once it was warm. I just pressed with my fingers to make sure it was really stuck to the puzzle piece. try to make sure it's centered, you have some wiggle room with this, it can move in one direction, it can move in the other, so it's super nice when you use cable, then just clean it up even though you don't.
Look, I just cut off the extra pieces of wire and that's how the handle turned out. I think it turned out really cute and I love the way it looks. Then I duplicated the same on the other side, make sure they are good. They are both in the center and have the same height. This project is going to be actually really easy and it turned out much better than I expected, so all I did was take these dowels that I bought from Dollar Tree and I'm going to place them on top of this gift box also from Dollar Tree.
I just spaced them out, however, I wanted to do it. If I were to do this again, I would definitely size it up a little more and make it look a little bigger. straighter, it had some curves, so try to get ones that are completely straight. I just went in and did all the corners first so I could lift them up and make sure all the pegs were level at the end once I put them in. I placed them in the four corners, started placing them in the middle and set it up so I could make sure all the studs were level with the ground, so this one you can see here I angled it a little bit diagonally. so it's closer at the bottom than it is at the top so be very careful with that and then I kept making sure they were about the same distance apart and put them around all sides if you ever wonder what supplies We use how many or things like that you can see in the description below.
This is what it looks like when it's finished. I decided to paint it all with Waverly chalk paint and colored ink. I'd spray paint it if it did. To do this again by painting ended up taking a long time and didn't cover all of the texture, so I just used some flat black spray paint and spray painted the whole thing, probably two or three coats for this project. We are going to create some sort of industrial shelf and this is one of my favorite projects using dollar tree elements so I hope you like it too. The first thing we're going to do is use some of these 8x10 canvas frames and we're done.
Go ahead and remove the canvas, we're just going to paint these wooden frames. I'm using some Waverly ink chalk paint thinned with water and once they're painted, go ahead and set them aside and we'll let them dry and move on. In the next part, for the shelf part, we're going to use some of these giant craft sticks from Walmart, they're quite a bit bigger than the ones you can get at Dollar Tree, and we're going to use two packages of these rectangular wooden planks that you can get at Dollar Tree . The first thing we will do is glue them with these craft sticks and I would leave a little more space at the end, as you can see.
It actually almost goes over the edge so I had to cut it, but leave a little space if you can, so just slide them over when you glue them so you don't have to worry about cutting them, that will help. This will be seen later when we add some of the falling tower blocks, so once we've glued three of them together, we'll just do the same thing, glue three more together with these craft sticks, and then glue those two pieces together to create the part. top or bottom of our shelf and as you can see here on the second one, I actually glued these craft sticks a little bit more so on the end you can see that there is a gap between the craft stick and the edge of the board. wood and then to glue them together I'm just going to slide them as close as I can and then I'm going to put some hot glue on there and stick another craft stick on those seams and then I'm just going to do that on the other side as well and once I've completed everything This process will create one side of our shelf, so you'll want to repeat that process to have a top and bottom piece on the next part.
We're going to hold one of these craft sticks to the edge of our shelf and go ahead and mark it in width, cut it out and then this right here will add a lot of volume to our shelf instead of just having those. wooden planks glued together and using them as our shelf, we are going to make it thicker and it will look more like one solid piece of wood, so what I am doing here is adding some tower blocks that fall to the edge, this is why the one you want Leave a space between the original craft sticks and the edge of our wooden planks so you can glue them.
This will allow you more space to glue our craft sticks instead of just trying to glue them to the edge of the wood planks. Now we have the wooden board and the rotating tower block to glue it on so it's much more structurally sound and secure there and all we're going to do is the exact same process on the other side with the craft stick. and the falling tower blocks so next part and that's why I decided to use the craft sticks from Walmart since they are bigger. We want to line this up with the edge again and then measure to where our first board ends and then We're going to cut that out, so if we choose craft sticks from Dollar Tree, we would have to use a lot more in the front, they're not as thick and I don't think that looks so good compared to these.
We can cut to the exact length of our wooden boards and they will line up with that and it will look much cleaner in the end. Now once we've cut our three pieces here, we'll do the same thing. that's what we did on the sides and we're going to glue some of these falling tower blocks and then we're going to glue those craft sticks to that and the wooden boards again, this is something I like to do just because it adds a little bit more surface area so you can glue your craft sticks together, so when I originally glued them together I put two rotating tower blocks on each board and then glued the craft sticks together, now there is a little problem with that because when the boards come together and the craft sticks are found, there is aSmall seam and they don't connect there so I guess it's a little flimsy and they may overlap each other.
I'll show you in a minute what I'm talking about, so I did it a little differently on the other side and I would recommend doing it that way if you're going to do this. As you can see here, look how they don't fit quite flush. Here I'm going to glue a block on the plank and then I'm going to glue a block right there in the middle of the seam that way I can glue the two planks and the two craft sticks together and it will hold together a lot better, so I hope that make sense. just a little bit of extra detail that will help make this look cleaner in the end and then this here is what I was talking about, you can see it flexes and bends into each other, this here on the other side. since I glued it into the seam it's not going to do that anymore since I can glue it down they will fit much better now that we've completed most of this we can move on to gluing the top piece here and kind of seal this together and give the illusion that it's just a solid thick piece of wood instead of just a thin piece using just the planks so what I'm doing here is just gluing some of these falling tower blocks to the top of the blocks existing ones that I have here that will create a little shelf for our top wood board to sit on and glue, so to finish this piece here we just need to add a little bit of glue on top of those falling tower blocks. and then slide in our top piece and that will stick in there now this is a little bit deeper into the project but still very simple to do there's not much to cut or measure and finally finish this off.
I'm going to stain it with this early american minwax now, depending on the decor you have in your house you can change this and do a lighter or darker stain or even paint the shelf just to match what you have early american. It's definitely a first choice, although we love that stain. Now on to the frames, here you can see that the paint didn't get into some of these little cracks, so what I did was use a smaller brush and a little bit of wash ink. paint to go in there and cover that and then once we have all of that painted the last thing we need to do is secure this to the wall so what I'm going to do is add some screws before we do that since This is a very thin wood.
I'm going to drill a couple of holes that are a little bit smaller than the screw I'm using and then we'll go ahead and screw this to the wall. I just looked here at the At the top and bottom make a couple of holes and then we can screw it in. If you want to take actual measurements you can definitely do that, but this is a very simple way to secure it to the wall. In this project we are going to create the shelf house. or uh trey house display and I love how this very elegant and modern design turned out, so I hope you like it as much and to start what we are going to do is glue these rectangular wooden planks so that they are in a pack of six, we'll need eight in total and then I just put a quick line of glue on the edge and then I glued them together and then we'll do the same with another two, this is just to initially hold them together and then we'll go in and add some strength.
Now, of course, we used the hot glue for these time purposes to make these videos for you. I would recommend using something stronger for this project with the dowels, there isn't much to glue so hot glue can be a little flimsier so I would definitely consider using maybe wood glue or e6000. You will have a longer drying time, but I think it would work a little better for you in hot. The glue still worked pretty well for me and I am very pleased with the result, so if you want to try that way you are more than welcome, it may not be as strong and hold up as long as if you used something. different and as you can see once we had those two pieces glued together, I put that stick along the seam there to give it some strength and then we're going to glue them together and do the same thing, add another craft stick right in the middle to give these seams a lot more strength and not be so flimsy.
Next we can move on to our rods, now you're going to need two of the 12 inch packs and I'm going to go ahead and spray paint all of these gold and after we've created our two shelves with the four boards, we can move on. Let's move on to creating the frame using these gold dial rods, so the first thing I'm doing here is I want these vertical dials to be right in the corner or as close to that corner as possible, so I'm holding them in the corner. and then I lined up this horizontal one that will go right in the front of that shelf, as you can see, you want to glue this one not all the way to the corner because you want to have a little bit of space where that vertical bar is. you're going to go so you want to glue it right next to that corner as you can see there's a little gap there but you're going to glue it right on the front of those wood planks and then once we have it in place .
We can move on to gluing the vertical and just put a little bit of glue right there in the corner and on that peg that's in the front and when you glue these pieces together, make sure they're dry, the last thing you want. what you have to do is try to move on to the next piece and the hot glue or whatever glue you're using hasn't fully dried and then your pegs are slipping and moving around so I would definitely give it enough time. dry in place before moving on to the next piece and then what we're doing is we're just adding this side piece back in, we're just going to glue it right there in the corner and then I worked all around, I found This was easy for me, such You might find a different way that works a little easier for you, but I started in one corner and then worked around this shelf gluing each piece together and then when I got to parts like this and needed to cut it out, you don't have to do any real measuring, you just you can line it up, mark it, and then cut it where it needs to be to fill those little gaps since the pegs aren't going to go all the way.
On the other side of there, you're going to need a little bit of a piece to go there and fill that space and when you cut these pieces to fit certain lengths here, I would always try to cut them a little bit longer than you think. Sometimes when you line them up and try to cut them exactly as they are they end up being short or if like here where you need to trim a little bit you'll end up being a little short and then you'll have a gap and then it doesn't look as polished so I would measure the area that you need and then I would cut it a little bit more to make sure it will fit there because you can always cut off the excess, but if you cut too much then you will only have that space so now that we have the bottom shelf and the four dials that go up , we can move on to the second shelf and I found that these krylon spray cans worked great for this.
I ended up using four of them, one in each corner, and the reason I use them is that they hold this second shelf up for you, so you don't have to worry about trying to hold it up while you're gluing or whatever it feels like. a good distance between the bottom shelf and the top shelf and it keeps it nice and sturdy for you so if you want to recreate this and you have some spray cans that's what I would do, I think it'll look really nice this way. when that's done it's going to give you some help holding that shelf up and then once we have it flat there we can move on to adding the frame around this shelf and I'm doing exactly the same thing as I did before I'm just starting in one corner and I'm working every way until I find that and just measuring and cutting as needed as I move through this thing that I like to do.
Well, when I use hot glue, I try to do it as little as possible on these seams and then once my structure is complete, for example, this piece here, I'll turn it upside down and then all the seams underneath. You will not be able to see when this is displayed. I'm going to go through it and fill it with a lot more glue to give it a lot more strength and then you won't be able to see it, but what I would like to do is do a minimal amount at first to get my structures together and then apply more glue and you could do it the same way if you wanted to attach this just with hot glue and then enter. then with e6000 or wood glue you can do that too.
I know some people make a mix of e6000 and hot glue at the same time. I've heard mixed things like sometimes it doesn't work or it gets a little dirty. let me know if you've had experience with that. I haven't tried it yet. The system we used works pretty well for us, so once we've completed our two shelves, we can go ahead and add the top of this house and What I'm doing here is adding these little side pieces. I'm just going to measure the space here and then cut the dowel and glue it on each side and then we're going to create the roof of this, so I was wrong.
I used it a couple of times trying to figure out what would be the best way to do the roof and this is what I came up with, so what I ended up doing was putting a little bit of hot glue on each corner here and then I took both. of these rods for each side they kept them in place and placed them on top of each other until the glue dried and they seem to hold up really well that way and then what I did was put a little piece on top just to hold those together and then I'm going to do the exact same thing on the other side and as we wrap up this project it's a little more complex, it takes a little more time, but I think this is one of my favorites that we've done for Christmas and it looks very modern , very high end and it's only a few dollars so it's definitely worth it if you want to go in and recreate this and the last part here is just to add this top piece.
So you want to measure from the top to the other top and just place it right on that little V that we created and then put a little bit of glue in there and that will be the final piece of this. project Hello everyone, we hope you enjoyed today's video.
