For

this

episode I've compiled my

best

Dollar Tree DIYs. I hope these are among some of the

best

you've

seen

this

year

so let's get started with our first Dollar Tree DIY so I found all these little wall stickers that are. giant floral stickers so I knew immediately when I saw them that I needed to make something really cool and in my mind it was going to be a piece of floral art so what I did was I recently rated the 75 off section at Hobby Lobby and I know It's not Dollar Tree, but I bought a bunch of these that I call blanks because I'm not necessarily going to leave them in their original format, but they are so cheap that we're talking about three to five

dollar

s for each one of them.

ative, so for me, splurging a little more on something a little larger will give us a better end result, so I took a blank space and decided to paint the entire center. white to give us a blank canvas so that the entire piece ended up being white once it was dry. I taped the intersection of the canvas and covered it with some painter's tape and then took it outside and spray painted it with gold leaf. paint and this gave us a really nice gold color for the frame and it gave us a really beautiful blank canvas, then I took our wall stickers from Dollar Tree and I peeled off this one here and lined them up on each edge of our canvas and then I decided to give it a name and what I did was cut out my daughter's name on chipboard in my Cricut maker 3 and I thought I would turn this into a piece of art with her name on it.

More Interesting Facts About,

25 best dollar tree diy decor you ve seen this year...

I cut out her name in the Used to be Girly font because it's definitely like a girly piece here, once I cut it out I took it outside and spray painted it in the same gold color we had used on the border now, if you don't have a Cricut machine. You can buy a small piece with a name on etsy, there are many sellers that sell it or maybe even create some with similar capital letters that you can find at any craft store, so you don't necessarily have to do it this way. Hopefully this will get your creative juices flowing so once it was dry I put it on and then I felt like it was a little blank so I played with a few different options like a smaller one to put in the center.

I really liked it so I took a more fuchsia colored peony, cut it in half and divided it between the top and bottom, creating like a floral border around our canvas and I thought this looked pretty. Well, I was really happy with how it looked and I said no, I want it to stand out a little more. I want it to be a little more three-dimensional than laying it flat and I had some beads left over. Otherwise, they were flat and all the same size so I went ahead and picked out enough to do this job and then I just hot glued these beads to the back of the letters and then once we had them on all the letters and hot glued the back of the beads to the board and then we were left with this really cute piece of art.

Now I'm going to stop giving you many of the finished shots right now because I'm on to my next DIY. It's kind of a vignette, but here's a little preview of what it looks like, but stay with me because my next DIY is amazing and goes together. For my next DIY, we're going to make some really fancy ones. Dollar Tree napkin holder wall sconces, we're going to use some other non-Dollar Tree supplies because it's a really cool end result and the items are pretty affordable so I think they're going to be really happy so we're going to grab this napkin holder you can get it at almost any Dollar Tree and then there's this metal tape that you can get at Hobby Lobby and always buy everything at Hobby Lobby when it's on sale because eventually everything goes on sale so it's a really nice metal tape and Everything what we're going to do is wrap it around the front or the top, I guess it would be the napkin ring, and we're going to take some wire, twist it into place and hold it in place. alright, once we put the metal ribbon on our napkin ring, I took it outside and sprayed it with gold spray paint and I wanted to try something different because I really like 18 karat gold spray paint.
I use it a lot, I think. It's Krylon but it's not always available so I wanted to try some different spray paints because I knew there would be a different color. Well, this regular gold was too tan or brown, it wasn't a shiny gold that I like. I used it, so I went back to that gold leaf spray paint I used on the frame and sprayed the metal tape and napkin ring all over. I turned it over and let it dry and then ordered some of these oval shaped crystals on Amazon. I'll keep the extra ones for another project, but I pulled out what we needed for this one and then took some more gold wire and connected them into place into those empty holes that you just fill with the oval crystal. then once it's connected you'll need some little Crystal threads and I bought a huge pack of these about a couple of

year

s ago.
I have them in my stash ready to go. They are very affordable. I bought them on Amazon and I write. of alternating lengths of three and links of four and you'll see why that will make sense here in a second and then at the end of those threads that I grabbed, I bought this pack at Hobby Lobby for 50 off, so it was like five bucks a 48. of these little crystals and they're not actually crystals they're plastic but they look pretty cool and I just attached them to the ends of our strands and they come with a large size and then they have a smaller size and I pretty much use all the smaller size and then we rotated the three length ones again and the four length ones and just threaded them by rotating the longer and shorter ones so that it staggered the height and that way you could put more in there without it looking too busy and then I just twisted it a little more gold wire to wrap around the screws we used to hang it on the wall and then I hung it on the wall.
I'm just using some screws to make sure it's level and then I needed a way to turn it on because it's like a little wall sconce. Now Dollar Tree sells some light parks. This isn't like I bought a whole package of little puck lights, so I already had those on hand, but you can totally use the lighting packs from Dollar Tree. Once you have your Puck Light, what you're going to use is you're just going to slide it up and down and place it like that wire racket in the middle is resting on it and it's perfect, you don't need it. stick it on or anything that gravity holds it in place and it's perfect so it's a super easy way to add that the nice thing about this one is that it comes with a remote control so you can turn it on and off with a remote control so it's something like this.
It's fun, because once you hang it on the wall, you can use the remote to control these little lighting packages and I also like the little gold detail on the Edge because it matches our little light fixtures, you end up with a really big bulb . We'll call it light pressure, it's super fun and here it is with the name art we just created and it makes a really cute vignette. This would look very cute in your craft room. It would look very cute in a little girl's room. You could change it. Take out some items and change them.
You could use the word love, hope, peace or whatever. It doesn't have to be a name. You can create this really beautiful vignette right now. Well, the other day I walked in and saw this. Pressed tile, the texture is amazing and I definitely knew I wanted to do something with this so I grabbed a wooden canvas that I bought at Walmart and I think they are about 12 inches square and all I did was peel it off. back of this adhesive mosaic and I stuck it to the clock and then I wanted to have that empty effect to paint it so I painted the whole thing with a white chalk paint and I was looking at it and I thought you know, okay, but I had a frame that was a little bit Broken, it had like a small crack at the bottom and the glass was broken.
I stepped on it by accident, but hey, it doesn't have glass. more, so maybe I can add that to what I have going to add a little more interest and finish it off a little more, so I just hot glued it on top of our painted white and then painted. that came out white and then to give it an antique look I took some sandpaper and roughed it up a little so that some of that gray came out like it looked like an old, aged pressed tin and then I got out my drill and drilled a whole hole in the center and we added like a clock kit, you know, just put it on the back and then on the front and then we have a really nice working clock, this clock is working. look so super cute in my room, it really has a very cute feeling.
I am very happy with the result of this little watch and I hope you like it too. What is best for you? I've been stretching the envelope a bit with these. Previous DIYs using some things from other stores to give it a more elevated look in the next one, although I mainly used things from Dollar Tree and found those cathedral windows, you may have

seen

them, so I grabbed four from the cathedral. windows and I glued them around the edges of one of their artwork that they have there for a

dollar

and then it was like a little gap in the corner, so I took out a square peg and cut them out and filled them in. in those cracks and I glued it in place and then I just had some little finials on hand, so I finished it off and added little finials on top of each of these little studs and that was it for the structure, then I took it outside and painted everything with gray spray with a gray primer because at first I thought I would sand it and wear it down.
I didn't end up doing that part, but then I followed up with a flat white spray paint and did a couple coats making sure I got everything. I tipped it up, sprayed it all over and that's it, and then I have a really cool, amazing chandelier. You might know, maybe I put a small clear vase inside with some flowers attached to it. over the top, but it's a really cute

decor

ative piece made mostly from Dollar Tree items. You could swap out those pegs and use them as Jenga pieces and make it completely Dollar Tree, but the end product of this is super cute.
I love it. I think it's a very nice piece and I hope you like it too. I came across these new metal cans that had like little seahorses and little crabs on them. I especially loved the crab one because it gave me an idea to make something nautical. So the first thing I did was paint my can with Sea Foam craft paint and sand it a bit to give it a rustic look, then I grabbed some wood rounds I bought at Hobby Lobby. I always have them. On hand, they come as a two pack and I put some water in a cup and put some gray craft paint and some brown craft paint and made kind of a stain with that or a color wash and did it I mixed.
I picked it up and put it on the wooden round and then let it dry completely then I got out my drill and drilled a hole and then I took a little crab knob that I found at Hobby Lobby and attached it to the wooden can and then you have your ornament is really cute and you put it directly on top of your can and you have a really adorable canister. I just think this is a really adorable jar and it will look super cute in the little kitchen there in Maine where we're going to be.
To make this pressed tin look wall pocket I'm going to use something quite unconventional to start with so I went down to my pantry and found a very large can of tomato soup and once we took out the contents of the can. I cleaned it really well and was left with this empty can. Now you'll definitely want to wear protective gloves for the next part because we're going to get out some tin snips. Tin snips aren't very expensive, but they are very handy to have on hand, so the first thing I did was start cutting near the seam on the back and I just cut, trimmed, trimmed, it took a little effort, but it's totally doable, so I kept cutting when I got to the bottom, I marked the section I wanted to cut with a marker and then I cut the back third off and I was thinking, at this point, I probably could have taken like a can opener and just opened it like in a section we needed because I was taking out the back third of the bottom, but I had already started the project so I just trimmed it with our little tin snips, but it would have been helpful to use this so we could write about creating a flat surface for the part back of our can and then I started to shape it and yes I kept bending and pressing until it was flat and overlapped a little on the back, now I didn't really care much about the backs looking like that, once I flattened it out and it looked like a half wall pocket, I decided to get out some black electrical tape and the reason was because I knew I was going to paint this item black and it wasn't there.
I'm really trying to put it all together, although it was kind of a goal, the main goal wascover all those sharp edges so there was nothing you could cut a finger on so it wouldn't look super impressive, but you would never do that. I know I promise in the end with that shape, so we needed to figure out where on the pressed tin tile we wanted to cut so we could do it later on the tile and, more or less, mark where we were going to cut and then I cut off the excess now when Doing this exposes one of the weaknesses of this product and that is that the backing is a little hollow in the center and the adhesive part is actually very sticky, but I don't like that it doesn't secure to the entire tile, so I had to think about another option and decided to use a double sided permanent mount. tape which I also bought at Dollar Tree and it worked great.
I started from the center and worked my way to the edges. No, there are no flowers, nothing grows where your heart is fire, but then as additional insurance for the edges. I also made another strip of black electrical tape and knew we needed a way to hang it, so I pulled out my crop-a-dile, which is a really fun tool to have in your craft arsenal, but you don't need it. You could find a different way to make a hole. You could definitely take a nail and a hammer and make some holes that way, but the alligator makes it really easy and I just use it to make two holes in the back of our can. and then I ran it through a wire that I had and I just twisted it and tried to make a little decorative border on the back, honestly you don't see it once it's all said and done and then we had the function of our little wall pocket done, I took it outside and then laid it upright and then gave it a couple coats of black spray paint with a glossy finish and then once it dried I tipped it on its back and made sure the other side was also spray painted because you might be able to see it so I just wanted to make sure it had good coverage before I was done.
I thought it would be cool to highlight some of the aspects of the tin by taking some paint. antique rub, polish and brown and you only need the smallest mount on your finger so you can just lightly put it on your finger, then you might even want to have a paper towel or something on hand to wipe a little or rub a little. you remove a little bit and then tap all those high spots on the press tin because that will really add a nice dimension and give it a higher quality look and then when I was done I hung it on the front door with some summer flowers that I threw in there and they're really pretty, so I had an empty can that would have been in the recycling bin and a 10 press from Dollar Tree and with some paint and supplies, maybe two dollars total. on this little project and it looks really cute what a fun project so next I had this frame and I've had this pressed tin frame for years and years and it holds my engagement photos with my husband and I was wondering if I couldn't make a small complementary photo frame to go with it, so that's what I set out to do.
I already had a frame in my stash that I was planning on using that I bought from Target because I don't know, there's like four of them. dollars is in their craft wood section and it's just an unfinished wood frame and I thought this would work perfectly so I took out all the frame components and put it on our Dollar Tree mosaic where I thought it would look nice and then I traced the frame and then I took a pair of scissors and cut out the shape that we had just traced there and I thought it was going to look good, so once I cut off all that excess there was no adhesive backing left, which was nice. because I ended up using Mod Podge, which actually, if you're cutting, probably works better for the application, so I just put a little Mod Podge all over the wood frame and then we put our pressed tin on top and then let it dry once that was dry.
I came back with this green chalk paint. I applied two really good coats everywhere and let it dry completely. It was so pretty that I wanted to give it that vintage look of our inspiration that we are trying to create. for the companion piece and I went in and sanded and distressed the edges a little bit with some sandpaper and then came back with some antique polish and used like a kind of old makeup brush that I'm not. I use it more because it was very delicate and I wouldn't make it too heavy and then you have a rag on hand to help you mix and you just go in and add and remove as you think you need with the old polish in the end I felt like it was a little dark, so I thinned out some of the original green chalk paint and went over it to tone it down a bit and that was it, it looks like they were meant to be together.
I really love how this turned out, it was so easy, hopefully that will get you spinning. You can choose the color you want. I consider soft greens to be neutrals, so you could do green, but you can choose any color that suits your decor. The project is going to tax you all a little bit because it involves some power tools, so I'm really going to push you on this, but I promise you the end result is that you're going to love it, it's really extraordinary, so for this project. I'm going to make a safe cake using these pressed tin tiles.
The first thing I did was build a shelf that I bought on Amazon for 24. It was a very good deal for a small shelf, but you can look around, maybe you can. find an even better deal at Walmart or Target or who knows, after you've built the shelf you'll take it outside for this part, we're going to get a little more powerful, we'll use some power tools. I have my shelf sitting here on a piece of wood from my stack, so I laid it out and lightened it on the edges and I'm going to trace it so we know where our cuts are.
We are going to make a door and on the door we are going to put the Press 10 tiles, we are going to use my table saw here, if you don't have a table saw, don't worry, you can use a jigsaw, a circular saw. Have a table saw and that really makes nice straight lines, but use the saw that you have, don't forget to protect your eyes because remember safe is sexy, so let's go ahead and make these cuts. Oh okay, so let's take the rest of the scrap wood and cut it into one and a half inch strips and that will be kind of like molding on the front of the door, so while I'm cutting things up here I thought it would be cool to make a top. you know, make it look more like a table, so I have this here and I think I want it to be half an inch in all directions, then I used the excess of that scrap piece and cut some styles and/or otherwise, It ended up being about an inch and a half molding, so you could definitely find some project boards at Home Depot so you don't have to cut your own molding.
I was just trying to make do with what I had and spend as little money as I could so I thought it would be cool to pick this up off the ground and I had this really cute scalloped ornament in my scrap pile so what I was thinking here is take a pair of these pieces, hold it and line it. put it on the bottom to just lift it up and then put some of this scalloped edge on the bottom as a decorative element, how cute is it, so this is what our door will look like.
I haven't attached anything here just because I want to lay out our tiles first before laying them down, that will help keep them in place and also help us line up where everything is going to go and I think the best thing is that I'll remove a little bit from each tile. so this is the same on each one too high once I had it glued on I went in and painted it with white chalk paint two coats and then let it dry completely while it dried I went ahead and painted all my styles and rails in one sort of sage chalk paint, but it's actually a blue color and I applied two coats of that and I wanted to do that because I wanted to avoid tape and weird paint, so I just went ahead and painted the styles on rails first and set that edge, like it was a baseboard around the bottom, nailing it in and then you can easily attach the side legs to that and then I centered the scalloped edge and nailed it. on the front side and that really added a really nice finished look and then I attached those rails to the front of the door using some finished nails.
You want to make sure the nail is the correct length because if it is too long it will shoot correctly. through the door, so make sure you have the correct length from time to time. I attached everything. I also grabbed an ornament, glued it on and nailed it and with that attached, I went back in and grabbed some Dollar Tree caulk. and I filled all the nail holes and all the cracks to give it a nice smooth finish and then once it was dry we went back and sanded everything, cleaned everything, cleaned everything and did any touch ups of paint that were needed .
Then we proceed to paint the entire exterior of the base. You may want to scrape the laminate casing. First, the chalk paint adheres pretty well, but if you know, sand it lightly first, it will really help the paint. It stuck even more and then I painted everything on the outside, left the inside all white and then once all the paint was dry I moved forward with assembling the door. I just got some very small piano hinges and attached the door. I looked at it, it was about three inches on each side and I just used my drill to screw them in and it was super easy now that my cabinet door was a little warm, not bad, I mean I don't think it was noticeable. but I didn't want to close flush so I also put a magnet on it so it would stay in place well and we needed to give it a rustic feel so I went ahead and sanded everything down and gave it a stress feel because it's a cake safe and cake safes are generally a little more rustic in nature and then I needed a knob and I had a glass one left over in my stash so I just drilled a hole for that and attached the glass knob.
My God, how! cute is this little cake tin. I think it would look really cute in a kitchen, it would look really cute in a bathroom, it's extra storage, it's super cute, overall, even if you had to buy some of the supplies, I guess you definitely could. make this for 40 bucks, so forty bucks is a great price for a really nice piece of furniture. You don't have to do it in blue, you can do it all in white, you can do any color you want and I love this. I really love this, I think it's super sweet, super cute and I hope it helped you understand the possibilities of using Dollar Tree items so I hope you enjoyed.
Next we will make a mirror using this mosaic and a few others from Dollar Tree. items I'm going to make a little cheap. I just decided to go ahead and use that 10 press clock as a base for this. I turned it into a clock, but this is where we're going to go back and change it a little bit. so they have these round mirrors at Dollar Tree and I picked up some of this epoxy and it's just because I had it on hand, it's very strong, you get it at Dollar Tree, you squeeze the contents out of both vials, mix it all together and then I spread it on the back of this mirror and centered it right in the center and let it dry completely then I cut a round piece of paper and took some blue painter's tape and taped the mirror down and then once you have it put, you'll be able to Go back with some Razor Edge and make it more circular and remove the excess before painting, then I took it outside and painted it with the same gloss black spray paint that we used in the previous project and let it dry covered. all really good and I loved how it looked at this point but I wanted to do something similar at first and add some gold accents so I took that same gold rub and polish and went to the high spots of the tile and around the frame if you get too much, you can always go back in and touch it up by spraying some spray paint on the lid of the lid and, you know, brushing it off with a sponge.
I do not do it. I don't know if I showed that on it, but there were a couple of places where I felt like it had too much gold and you just fluff it up and cover it, but it's so easy, so easy to put together and it looks so pretty. on my shelf, I love it, I feel like it has such a sophisticated look, we made it with some items from Dollar Tree and Walmart and it looks fantastic. Next we will make a sort of pressed tin mini wreath combination. nice sweet piece and I had this little wooden plaque from I think it's from Family Dollar for three dollars or something.
I bought it, it was in my stash for a year or two and I decided to use it for this and set it up, I found out what the weird dimensions were, you want to make sure it's centered, then you make your marks and then you cut it all out again, the whole backing is It comes off because it's hollow in the middle, which is good because I'm done. I started using Mod Podge to modify it in the center and we let it dry, then I taped the frame and did two coats of flat white craft paint, it's what I had on hand and I let it dry and once it was dry I I felt a little distressed.
I did it a little bit just to give it a little bit of dimension and then I was looking at the frame and I felt like it looked a little tired. I guess that's the best way to describe it,so I came in with a bit of seniority. wax and just tap it a little to add some depth and richness to the frame. I had a three pack of mini wreaths, I think they are dollar ones at Target and I took two of the three and made them over and over I needed a way to hold it so I found where I wanted to put it and then I took a pin and pushed it where it needed to go position, then I wrapped some floral wire around the wreath, tied it, and then twisted it. our little clear pin and that was another super easy project.
Now you can definitely use the full width of the tile and make one that measures 12 inches by 12 inches and have something a little larger and more substantial. I think this one ends up being I don't know, like about eight inches, super cute, super sweet, you could hang it anywhere, put it as a little accessory somewhere and it just adds a little bit of personality. I'm so happy with how this sweet little project turned out. This one was actually very interesting. The first thing we will do is have a free printable for you. I originally took this image. from Graphics Fairy, so I'll link to the original she provided, but I went into my graphic design software and split it up so it was a little more separated, so I'll also provide a link to this free printable.
So if you want to split up, you can and there's a reason why I'm doing it that way, but we're going to print this free printable on water slide paper. Now for me, water slide paper is the best solution I have. I came to this point because if you don't have a qriket machine, I have several Cricket machines and I would probably recommend this one if you have a qriket machine, go ahead and cut it on your Cricut machine because it will fit like a cleaner. Look, but I wanted to show an alternative and the final result.
I'll just give you a spoiler alert. It's also really awesome, so if you don't have a qriket machine, use the water slide paper. I'll link a few in the description. The chart below is very affordable and all you need to do is print it on your home printer. It has to be inkjet, not laserjet, so if you have a LaserJet printer, print it on an inkjet printer and then what we're going to do. What we need to do is apply three coats 15 minutes apart of a clear crystal polish, so I'll link as many products that I'm talking about as I can in the description box below, so if you're wondering what I'm using and how I'm using it and then you're going to let it dry completely at least 30 minutes, you might want to give it an hour then we're going to need at least two of the 11 by 14 squares that Sell it at Dollar Tree.
My suggestion would be to get four and you'll see why in just a second. This is how water slide paper works. Let's take the glass out of the frame and set everything aside. I'm personally taking out all the little tabs that hold the glass in place and you'll see why in just a second and then we'll set the frame aside and just work with the glass for now, so what we can do is we'll cut this bottom section off here. as close as we can and then we'll leave the top section, then we'll take our waterslide printed image and submerge it completely in water and this will be about 30 seconds to a minute depending on you know when it starts to activate you'll know when it's ready when it starts to slide down the backrest and it will come loose a little bit and then what you're going to do is mirror the top of your 11. with 14 glass, you're going to line up the corners and very carefully slide the backrest off and then you want to dry it off and press it down and then we'll repeat that process with the bottom section that we cut. near the bottom now, if you're using vinyl, go ahead and use the vinyl at this point if you're using the water slide paper.
I would recommend letting it dry completely to let the water evaporate once the water slide paper has dried and evaporated. Let's take any of the large stickers you want. I'm going to use this huge peony because I love peonies, obviously pink peonies and I know the peony. Please, you will come out and give me a hard time. I say peonies, I say peonies and everything works and then I'm going to use the hydrangea because I'm doing a set of two, but you could do a set of four, it depends on what flowers you can find. There's this one in the front of this one and then the one in the back, which is a little bit different, it just doesn't have the center like the yellow one in the center and then on this one I'm going to use the periwinkle hydrangea type, but I have this pink flower in the back of some of the others and you have a big giant white flower so you can use an assortment and make a set of like four and really make a statement like on your wall so there are a lot of options once you put the decal on , this is where the second frame comes in.
At my suggestion, you can leave the decal and all that on top of the glass and call it a day, but I really think it looks more finished and more like it. a piece of art if you then stack another piece of that glass on top of the original to finish it off and enclose it nicely, that's why I would recommend using two of the frames and by the way, PS where on Earth could I do that? You find an 11 by 14 frame for $25 anywhere else, nowhere else but Dollar Tree, maybe at the thrift store, but then you won't have like four of the same, so you take the frame you originally ripped off , all those little ones in the middle. you remove the tabs and replace all the glass upside down and then I grabbed some clear silicone that I bought at Dollar Tree, but you can get a big one at the hardware store and just make some clear silicone to seal everything.
I feel like the outside edges are a little stronger in the end than hot glue, but you can also use hot glue and then you'll want to let it dry completely, which in my case is at least 30 minutes. an hour or two just to be sure and then you're left with something tremendously cool. This is probably one of the most favorite Dollar Tree DIY projects I've ever done. I love the finished look, it looks so sophisticated and classy that you would never think. a million years ago I know this was from Dollar Tree after the next one is also one of my favorite Dollar Tree projects, definitely in the top five.
I started with a wooden round that I bought at the home improvement store. I think it's Lowe's that gets them for about five or six dollars. I think they are about 12 inches in diameter and I painted them with white chalk paint, then what I did was I took a stencil that I bought on Amazon a while ago and I never got around to using it and I thought it was a really cool stencil and I put it on top and unfortunately it had been bent a little strangely, so this will probably work for you if you don't bend it.
It's funny, but you want to tape it down and then I took some black chalk paint and applied it over the stencil and if it wasn't perfect it's not a big deal because we're going for a rustic look here and then I let it dry completely, once which was completely dry, I sanded it a little bit, we wanted to give it an aged look and then I let it dry, then I took another one of these hydrangea stickers and I also took some of the other small pieces that come with it are like the other small ones and I took a big piece and I offset it on one side and then I took all the other little ones and put them together in the other corner like asymmetrically here now because I'm going to turn this into a pedestal tray or serving tray or however you want to use it, there are many applications.
I didn't want it to look like it just had stickers stuck on it. So to give it a bit more of a finished look, I first sanded the edges to make sure everything was nice and smooth since we cut off the excess, then I took some Waverly varnish in a matte finish and probably only did three. to four coats because I really wanted it to look like a piece of art, which we achieved in the end, so I'm really glad we did that step because otherwise it looked like I just put a bunch of stickers on it. and the finished product looked like art because it had varnish on top and then I added a pedestal base left over from another block project, so it was already painted white.
I took it from an old project and then used it on this and attached it with some gorilla hot glue. I'm not going to do anything crazy with it, so I didn't think I needed to use anything stronger than that. The gorilla hot glue has a very strong holding effect, so I think it will be enough and in the end it is a very nice tray in which you can put candles, you can put perfume on it. I could see that it looks really cute, like a cupcake stand or whatever, but I absolutely adore how it turned out.
For our next project several months ago, I redid a nightstand, going from a wooden nightstand to a sexy, sleek black nightstand, and I thought it would be fun to do something with these stickers to add a fun little element to it, and that? I decided to do something on the sides, so when you took out the drawer it was a little boring and maybe it didn't really matter, but I thought it would be a really fun little surprise element, so I removed the drawer from the nightstand. and we taped down everything we didn't want to paint and then we applied two coats of white chalk paint to the side panels of this nightstand drawer and then I very carefully taped down stripes and made it about two inches wide and then before you make stripes of any kind, if you've been watching my channel for a long time you'll know my little secret trick and that is to paint over the lines of your tape with the original color so that when it bleeds, which always happens even With the best tape, it will bleed the original color and then create a nice tight seal that will give you a nice crisp line at the end.
Then I took some black acrylic paint from my craft paint that I have on hand and did a couple coats of that and then we let it dry completely, then we removed all the tape, revealing amazing clean stripes and then we had some fun with the stickers. I thought it would be fun to mix them up so I used these fun ones here and we just wrapped them over the edges of the door, cut them out and placed them off center on each side and it looked really cute when we got creative with all the little stickers and they cost 25 bucks, so it's not much. and I ended up using about two of them, a very affordable option and then when we were done I looked at it and thought, well, it looks a little weird like the stripe transition, so I pulled out a shelf liner that I also got to the Dollar Tree that was kind of black with a little bit of white zigzag.
It may be a little busy. You could go back in and use a little paint and paint the rest, but I thought it was enough to tie it all together, so now when you pull this little drawer out of the nightstand, you're in for a fun little surprise with so much personality. You could do the same idea on the sides of a dresser, on the sides of a nightstand. and they have a little more prominence, but I really think it's a very cute look. I love how it turned out. It wasn't a lot of money, but it's like a fun little surprise element and I hope that inspired you.
I really love to do is raid the clearance section at Hobby Lobby because they get rid of all these random pieces of art or signs, so I had this one that was three dollars and 24 cents and I got it on clearance. What I like about these is they have a nice frame, this is a nice solid wood base and you can paint it, so that's what we did in the next project: I applied a couple of coats of white chalk paint over the section center, then we let it dry completely and then before I did the next section with chalk paint, sometimes it has something like ripples.
It depends and then I just sand it lightly so it's nice and smooth. So the next part was a bit tedious, not as easy as our pre-made template. I found it as an old letter written in French that I got from Graphics Fairy. I'll also link this one too and I made it into a stencil on my Cricut machine and cut it out of vinyl, but it was very tedious to weed. and all that and I didn't end up waiting for everything just because I knew I was going to put a big giant flower in the middle and I thought this was taking too long so I was a little lazy but in the end it all worked out well, I'll tell you I promise, so finally, after knowing how to tediously remove this letter, I stuck our stencil onto our blank canvas and then took some Greek gold and rubbed it on. the stencil on the outer skirts and I didn't even do anything in the center because again we're going to cover it with the flower and then I had to remove the stencil and you know, because it was so tedious and I had All this running didn't want to peel off in one fell swoop, it was a little easier to throw it away, so once we had it all I did was take this white flower here and stick it right in the center and boom, we have an instant piece of art, but again I wanted it to look like art and not like I would have stuck a sticker on something, so I took the same Waverly matte varnish and gave this one a couple of coats too just to class it up. to give him afinished look and it was very nice.
I put it on the mantel next to the mirror and I think it's enough and it becomes this really stylish piece of art and we used just a discarded piece of art from the clearance section and a sticker from Dollar Tree some paint a little of rum and boom, a really cute piece of art that looks much more sophisticated, so my next Dollar Tree DIYs will come from items that were sent to me in a Mystery Box challenge I participated in, so I had no idea what would I use to DIY, that made it exciting, they sent me some pretty cool stuff, so my idea is we're going to close a rug. but we are not going to make a huge one, we will turn it into a pillow and for that we will use this element from the Mystery Box and the thread that they asked us to use, but what do you do if you don't want to? spend like 300 on one of those rug making guns, well you use something that looks like this, sound familiar to any of you? a little bit longer than the fancy gun version so the first thing we're going to do is make a template for our thread strands that we're going to need to make.
I do this by taking some cardboard from the mystery box and cutting it into two pieces that are two and a quarter. inch wide and the length doesn't really matter and then I also cut two more pieces that are much smaller. I didn't even measure them. I just wanted it to separate the other two pieces of cardboard easily enough to slide some scissors through our Contraption and you'll see what I'm talking about in just a second and then we're going to glue it all together. This little Gadget was very helpful and gave me the perfect length threads, everything we're going to do here.
It's just wrap, wrap, wrap, wrap around our little measuring device and then we're going to take some scissors and cut on both sides. This is what you don't want to happen, so I'm going to move a little faster because With a little practice, I found that the best way to do this is, once you have it wrapped, press it firmly onto the table. and cut on both sides without letting the thread come loose and it will hold everything nicely in place while we are doing the cutting, then I measured our mat and cut it to 18 inches by 18 inches, it was already 18 inches wide by 24 inches long , so we're only peeling off about six inches here and I decided I'm going to make a black and white striped rug and I want to make sure I have a black stripe down the center and I wanted it to be as thick as the painter's tape that I'm using here, so I just use that as a guide to start with, but in the end I decided it was six columns wide and that's the width that ended up giving me the perfect amount of full stripes.
Then we started hooking. This process is extremely easy to do because my thread was thinner. I said earlier, I found out that after the first one I also needed to do, but I started with just one, but this is what you need to know because I got it into a system after a little practice, what you are seeing me do here is not exactly what I started by doing what I ended up doing is much faster so I would wrap the two threads over my index finger, slide the latch hook through the loop created on my finger and make sure the latch part is pulled back and then threader run the hood through the empty square and then you can take the cut ends of the thread and cross them over to the hook area and then as you pull back you will close that latch and then you will pull the thread through and create a knot you want to make sure you knot it always in the same direction and on the same side of the square so that everything is nice and consistent and then you just repeat this process over and over and over and over. and again, this is a great project to do if you're binge-watching a show, but honestly, it's more comfortable doing it on a table after trying it in many different environments, this literally took me a lot longer than it could have imagined after finishing.
After finishing the last knots, we give it a little haircut to even out all the strands, then I take some painter's tape and pull all the outer thread towards the center so we can easily sew an envelope back over this and convert it. in a pillowcase because it's going to be a soft pillow and I had these soft car cloths from Dollar Tree on hand. I just decide to use this as a backup because they already had a finished Edge and I didn't really need to do that. part, so I just cut it to overlap it by six to eight inches and you just sewed around the four sides as close to the thread line as possible and that's it, after all that work it turned out pretty cute, but seriously, Would you invest 40 hours? on a single pillow or spend the 300 on the fancy Lone Fox rug making gun, honestly I'm leaning towards the ladder but I like this pillow, what do you think?
So for this next DIY we're going to use a bunch of mystery box items into one thing, including one of the challenge items which was this foam die and we're going to turn it into a topiary, so first thing we're going to What to do is take the two boxes that she sent me and we are going to stack them on top of each other, one face up and one face down so that they have good contact to create a larger base for our topiary and I just used a little bit of glue gorilla hot for this now I didn't want it to be open. handles to show on the sides and I wanted to mimic what was happening on the front on the back so I took some larger popsicle sticks and cut them out with my scissors and attached them together just using a little bit of hot glue too and we do it .
This for both sides is strange, now you can leave it like this if you want, but I wanted it to look a little more finished, so I took more popsicle sticks and created a sort of frame around each side, starting with the shorter sides and then. I finished the front so it would have the cleanest look. Then I'll take one of the whiteboard frames she sent and tear out the tripod so we can set it up in front. I also had this clay mold of the French crown. What was left over from my last Mystery Box challenge where we used some clay.
I didn't end up using this wreath and decided I would use it now and stick it on the front of the board, then I'll go ahead and paint the whole thing with black chalk paint and let it dry and give it that worn feel when I do this, it reveals the fact that the crown is white, the frame is white, but the popsicle sticks are still like I like a tan color and that just doesn't suit me so I get out some antique wax and just even everything out with the wax for antiques and actually makes everything look the same and as a bonus it also gives it a nice shine. in our container, then we're going to take four of our craft sticks that she sent me and I'm going to varnish them with some antique wax while I take them out and this will act as the wooden stem for our topiary, but yes short I took off a couple of inches to make it a little shorter now, before using our dice as foam.
I removed the whiteboard as best I could, but it was really stuck there, so I stuck some floral foam to the base of our container and fixed it with hot glue and I know this is wet floral foam meant for fresh flowers, it's just what I had on hand and I didn't want to make a special trip to the store to buy some different foams, so I just decided to go ahead and work with this, but I would recommend getting real floral foam for six because it's sturdier and then we stick our four sticks in for crafts on our base and then we add a little hot glue for added stability.
Next, it's time to push. on our dice, those sticks now, obviously, I don't recommend that you use a dice as a shape, we're working with what they gave us in the box, in fact, let's get some real foam for this because this is very difficult to work with and even I had to take out my pin that I used to cut styrofoam to create holes for each thing we added to this die because it was too dense, otherwise before adding our olive leaf that we picked up from Michael's, I also take I separate a small Grapevine Nest that I also bought from Michael's and wrap it around the stems to give it a more authentic, finished look.
Then I cut our olive leaf stems and use my hot pen to create holes and while they are still hot I stick them in because it will be more flexible and then when it cools it holds them in place. If you feel like you need to use a little hot glue, feel free to do so and just cover the dice completely. and the best I could, and even after I covered it pretty well, you could still see the dice poking out, so I go ahead and grab some moss from Dollar Tree and hot glue it to cover some of its ugly mechanisms . and then also cover the bottom of our topiary with moss.
I love how it turned out. I think it looks very elegant. I would be proud to display this in my home. I love the texture of the black olives against the green leaves and I love how it all came together and you can't even tell we used a die on this beautiful topiary, so for our next Dollar Tree hack we're going to use this canvas she sent me. I have created a free printable that I will use. link in the description box below to complete this project and this is what it looks like okay so the way we are going to do this is to paint the entire canvas with white chalk paint and create a nice blank board. for us and then once it's dry, we'll use a product that I've used a lot on my channel.
I love this image transfer technique. What you need is liquitex matte gel medium. It looks like this and is very useful to work with. Now our canvas measures just under eight inches by three inches, so you could try printing it on a standard sheet of printer paper, but I went ahead and printed it at Staples on ledger size paper, which is 11 by 17 inches, then I just trim off the excess and we'll just apply a nice generous layer over our freshly painted white canvas and then what we'll do is take our printable and lay it down. Place it face down on the Liquitex Medium Matte Gel and let it dry completely for a minimum of two hours, but if you can wait a full 24 hours, I think you'll get a spicier look.
This is where it gets really fun once it's completely dry. a bowl of water and a soft cloth and saturate the image with that water and then gently rub the paper backing to reveal the image, take your time when doing this, be very gentle and careful because if you get too aggressive you can remove some of the ink will happen no matter what, but we want to try to minimize it as much as possible. After letting it dry a little, you can put it back in with your bare finger and gently rub the paper too like it's strange.
In fact, I decided to do it. I finished everything off by applying a matte Mod Podge to help protect and saturate the color a little more, so I grabbed some large paint sticks from an old DIY and cut them to fit the outside of my canvas. I did this on my miter saw, which I didn't record, but you've seen me do it many times on my channel before and if you don't have a miter saw, you can use your manual miter box to cut this, it's just the largest painting. It sticks so it's pretty easy to cut and since my channel is called a blank toe design I felt like this just needed a little more finishing and I had some leftover pencil molding from other projects in my pile and I had enough to make this project and I cut it with my miter shears before gluing it in place and since I'm not going to nail it to such a light canvas, I paint everything with black chalk paint that way we can keep it from sticking.
We put it on our canvas design and then I go ahead and pre-distress it on the outside as well and then we glue it in place using a little bit of regular Gorilla Glue and a little bit of hot glue. If you need to touch up paint, you can do it after the glue has dried and that's so nice that it looks so high end, including the fact that it was printed at Staples. You're no more than three dollars in this picture, all said and done, and it's so cute that it looks much more high-end. that, okay, so for our next Dollar Tree hack we're going to grab this tag that she sent me and I love making them.
I usually make them out of real wood, so they're a little more sturdy than this one, but this one is pretty much ready to go and we're going to make it look a little less cheap because this is all printed. I think we can do better. It's going to be very easy to do the first thing we're going to do. What I do is remove the string that is already there. I'm going to set it aside because I'm going to reuse it and then I take another one of our dry clay pieces and we're going to use the hot glue to attach it. place and since one of the little legs is missing, I just add a little extra hot glue for that leg and then paint the whole thing with black chalk paint and then let it dry, which actually doesn't take that long.
With this paint, once it's dry, I'm going to sand it a little bit on the edges and we're going to take the same old glaze and mix everything together andWe'll finish it nice, then I take a washer I had on hand and hot glue it in place and tie the twine that came with it. Then I have this little target dollar point wreath from a couple years ago and I wanted to reuse it on this and frame our little bee. and add a little bit of color and a little more texture so I decided to punch a hole in our tag and then wrap some twine around our mini wreath and thread it through the hole using some washi tape to thread it through and then we are.
I'm going to add some hot glue and a popsicle stick to the back to hold everything in place. Now you can leave it like that, but I wanted to add a little sparkle and I love typography, so I went ahead and put "be kind." on the label and some removable vinyl lettering in case I wanted to change it later, but I have almost nothing on this and originally only paid three dollars for the crown and then with some paint, vinyl and extras I had on hand , I took this from the Dollar Store to a boutique with this fun gimmick, so I played with a bunch of ways to use this toy.
Do you like that decor-wise, not so much, but I thought of a way to use it in a meaningful way? way to complete an amazing DIY, the first thing you'll need is one or two of these wooden wreath shapes that you can find at Michael's. Now, what are we going to do with these? We're going to make a chandelier, so here's the plan, I have some leftover concrete from my last Mystery Box challenge, we're going to use it again because I already had it on hand, we're just going to remove all of these puppy paws and we're going to make them. lay aside.
They are my backup plan if this goes wrong because we still want to use them somehow for DIY and I have a backup plan for these if this doesn't work out. I'm going to take this cooking spray and we're going to spray it because we're going to fill it with concrete and those are going to act as the base stems for our chandelier. I'm going to spray this so they can come loose easily, hopefully. let's put that aside we have our concrete let's pour in some water I'm just using a piece of wood to mix this with oats is the consistency we're looking for here it's not rocket science here This is pretty easy, okay?
So what we're going to do, I'm just going to use this to pull it out because I think it's going to be fine. I hope you notice this and I hope everyone is the same. height, okay, some of these imperfections we can sand off when it's dry, so we'll let it sit for 24 hours. I accidentally didn't touch the record for this part, but we'll start by gluing the two wreath shapes together and I used a construction adhesive for this and then clamping them together to hold it in place while it dries. While it dries, we will fill all the holes with wood putty and let it dry then.
To sand everything down and then clean it up, I'm now going to make it pretty by adding these half beads to the entire outside and inside of the wreath shapes which from now on I'll just refer to as the base of the lamp. I just attached this using Gorilla hot glue because I figured that by the time we paint it and do all the finishing on it, I think it will be strong enough. I ordered these beads on Amazon for a really good price and used a little over half the bag, it actually didn't take that long and was a lot of fun to make now that we have all our stitches, we're going to create a faux distressed wood look To do this, we are going to take mineral color. chalk and paint everything, making sure to get between the beads very well and covering both sides.
In fact, all of the following steps apply to both sides. Next, we'll dry brush some of our old wax and something like that. mix it up a little as you go when you see me doing my hair it really doesn't look that pretty at this point and it's about as convincing as a wood grain but it will stay with me make sure you hit all the beads on this. too, but it doesn't have to be a wonderful paint job at all and imperfection is okay in this next one. I'm going to take some of that white wax that we made and basically what it is is just half white chalk paint mixed together. with a clear white wax from Waverly and then we're going to glaze everything by brushing on our white wax and then wiping it off and this will bring everything together and give us that bleached, grayish weather wood that we're looking for I love how the finish turned out and I'm really excited with it and now it's time to check out our dog bone toy concrete candle bases which was a mouthful, they turned out great.
I seal them with a matte sealer and while you're outside I just take this really pretty metallic satin nickel spray paint from Krylon and spray on a hanging basket chain from Dollar Tree and some little C hooks, but the eye hooks They would be better, but I had them on hand and ended up folding them closed. They work well for me, now this color is going to look really pretty with our palette and then I take the concrete discs inside and decide they look a little new so I put some white wax on top. Then I space them evenly and decide that the best way to join them together is to use some pipe fitting cement which is used for bathroom pipes, but any type of construction can be used. adhesive you would like and also let it cure for 24 hours before using your chandelier.
Now we needed to use a clear adhesive to attach these stemless wine glasses from the Dollar Tree to the concrete bases because you can see through them. I used some Gorilla clear gel glue, which has a very strong hold and I was pretty generous with it. Now it's time to set our chain. I very carefully pre-drilled the holes centered between each two glasses and then screwed in our eye hooks and secured them. our chain now all we need are some candles. I'm now displaying this hanging from a

tree

outside because I think it would make a really romantic candle holder for a picnic or date night or even something fun for a wedding, but you have to keep in mind that the rings are made of MDF, so the Humidity will affect them, so keep that in mind.
I'm going to find a good place for them in my house because I love how it turned out. I really think it's amazing and affordable, and I know I stretched myself. the envelope a little bit using the dog bone, but there's nothing really cute about it, let's be honest, so I used it functionally and I hope it works for you as much as it did for me because I couldn't be happier with my final project . Well, I'm just going to eliminate one of the items from the challenge and it was this giant green garden grass bag.
I came up with an idea that I'm very excited about. Let's use this Elan bag to create a cement planter. I've had this type of cube floating outside for a while. If it gets completely trashed in this process, I'm not going to lose sleep over it. I actually had to use duct tape. in a couple of places because there were cracks and I didn't want the concrete to leak so I used some Gorilla tape and then of course we sewed this bag so there's only like a couple of inches around it We don't want a hundred pot pounds that just doesn't work, so I hope we're at the right size now.
I have no idea how this will go, but I have high hopes, so we'll take this bucket and I'll put it on the ground under this bag. I'll also put on gloves and we'll open the sand mixture. I just bought this cheap shovel at Dollar Tree because I think I might throw it away when I'm done and I have water and we're supposed to mix until it looks like oatmeal apparently mix mix mix this is a good exercise okay that's the closest thing to oatmeal Which I think we can achieve. Don't know. I think I fully explained the style I'm going for.
I saw this inspiration photo and thought it looks really cool. I want to try to get that look, but there are no instructions so I'm flying by the seat of my pants. Now the ideal would be to buy a bag of rice or a burlap sack and make this pot, but this is what we are working with, a mysterious challenge. I have my cooking spray here and we're going to spray the inside of the bag and the outside of this I hope that helps we're just going to rub it in and then we're going to spray this as well.
I hope this helps free it when we're done. I'm going to put about two. inches at the bottom and I hope this gets back to the right consistency. Now let's configure this. We will try to center it. We'll just try to distribute it evenly. Thank you. There are those annoying frames that are cheering me up. so I'm going to sacrifice this for the cause here because I feel like it might make our lives a little easier. One of the things was that there was a decorative rope and it was cinched like a bag. I'm going to go ahead and take my big rope here and tie it off and see if that helps hold it up a little bit and I can, if I can shape it around that or not.
I think this will be the front we will do. Tighten the rope now that we have that rope there. I hope we can shape it into the bag we are trying to achieve. I let this sit for about 36 hours and let's take it apart. I'm really surprised that it actually turned out and I think it's really cute, so we've got a couple of loose fibers here, I've got some scissors and we're going to try to trim them off and then we're going to let it cure a little bit more and then we're going to get some new rope to tie it off. and plant it with some pretty flowers that I'm probably going to kill, but this time we're going to try really hard to stay alive.
In my next Dollar Tree DIY we are going to use some of these hanging baskets. Now she sent me one and I have another. I have in mind that we can make a faux farmhouse decorative scale. I have a spindle here now. I'm going to use an electric miter saw, but if you have a miter box and a drill, you can probably do it, so you don't need any big tools, but it makes life really easy, so what we're going to do. What we do is we use this as a center support and this is going to be kind of a false scale and we're going to cut this off.
First I cut the axle to 18 inches leaving about an inch and a half on top before I start spinning, then I cut our wooden dowel to 18 inches as well and then we're going to drill a hole through this and hopefully it will work, just make sure the pin fits and is a little snug like we want it. Go over it very carefully, then we'll glue two rounds of wood, one three inches and one five inches, and let it dry for a couple of hours while it dries, we're going to work on the part of the scale that I'm going to take the baskets and cut out the arm that has the little bow at the bottom.
This will act as a screw hole. You will need a total of four of these pieces, two for each side and then with my hand, flatten and fold in the opposite direction so that the sharp edges fit into our little three inch wooden rounds, then you will find the center and make a line through it and you'll take it to the side so you know. where to put the screws, then you will take a small drill bit and pre-drill the holes. I just used some short screws I found in my stash that have a wider head on top and then you slide the screw in.
Through the loop and drilling it into place now just for a little extra security. I add a little bit of hot Gorilla Glue as a backup. Do this on each side. Now I take a link of the chain from the basket and let's join it. this at the meeting point of these two arms using black electrical tape that I twist in and out of the tape on each side now, looking back, being 20 20 I wish I had used some air drying clay to hold it in place , but this worked on the outside, plus take a small basket clasp and hook it onto the top of the individual chain link like I'm showing you here.
Now we have two false scales. It's time to finish assembling. I'm going to use a Screw Dowel to attach it to our bracket, we pre-drill some holes, then put the dowel screw into the drill and drill it into place until it stops. I drill and then hand tighten the shaft onto the outside screw pin to add some embellishments and I take a daisy that I made with air dry clay hot glue and put on with Gorilla hot glue, then I added a little wood finial on top and then I just dug around my stash to see what else had little scraps and ends and found a couple of little wooden stars and little decorative finials that I glued to each side.
When all is said and done, you won't even be able to tell they are stars, but they will be just a little decorative element and then I will pre-drill them. the bottom of the peg about two and a half to three inches and a hole for an eye hook and we twisted them into place by hand now with our scales hanging from it we painted the whole thing with satin black spray paint before show them. To get the final look we have a very quick DIY that will go on top of the scale so let's do it now so our Farmhouse scale needs something to weigh and Shannon sent me this close and we're going to get another one and we're .
I'm going to elevate this for our nextDIY. Now these bells are made of plastic and it's especially noticeable on the bottom, so I took them outside, primed them and then painted them black to match our scale, then stole some pots from Dollar Tree. of some succulents and I sprayed them with a robin's egg blue and I let everything dry now we're going to put them together quickly and I just grabbed a couple of silk pink peonies from Dollar Tree that actually look pretty nice and I stuck them in the floral foam and then I place them inside the newly raised plastic bell and I just place them on this scale and here is the final look of the scale and the pink peony bells, including the bells and everything.
I got a little over ten dollars on this, not that bad, but what do you think Shannon sent me two shelf brackets? I thought this would be a really good opportunity to use up a bit more of my scrap wood, so we're going to make a shelf, but I wanted to make this a little fun and I think we're going to do something with this garden fence they sell at Dollar Tree. She's actually very pretty. I love it. Now I take all the metals and plastics I'm going to use outside and spray them on a flat black board. paint so they all have the same finish now the big part of my shelf was already the right length to begin with.
I was lucky that it was in my scrap pile that way and I think it was 24 inches and it was originally cut from a one by eight and then I cut a 1 by 3 about two inches shorter than our top shelf to accommodate the brackets, then we need to cut the plastic to fit. I make sure to leave some faux iron behind the piece of wood so I have something to staple it to later, then I lay everything on top of it again and line up our brackets to see where we need to make those cuts in the iron and then I remove that area and I then attach the wood pieces together using some wood glue and some finishing nails, since this is going to the entryway where I put my bench.
I use the same old wax to finish the wood and then take my staple gun and staple the plastic iron in place. Now I'm going to place it. four hooks I bought at Walmart and I lined them up with the arrow part on the offset work and screwed them into place and then I sprayed the whole thing with clear coat paint and let it dry before installing it, this shelf is around five bucks in supplies, but you would never imagine it in a million years. This store is amazing and will provide many features in my driveway.
I love how this turned out, so for our next Dollar Tree DIY we will use this hello love sign and then I will also use some more of this garden fence. You will need two of these garden fences to complete this project because now we are going to cut four complete sections, one for each side. I would recommend the smaller seasonal signs that are made of MDF for this because they are a little smaller than this piece and fit perfectly on the garden fence, but we are working with the hello love sign they sent me and it is a little larger .
So to accommodate this, we are going to cut four square wooden dowels for each of the corners. Now we ended up using a ton of Gorilla hot glue to make this project happen, so be prepared for that, we basically just hot glued this on. in every corner, in every place we can thank you and then in the corners I took some popsicle sticks to hide some of the mechanics on the edges and once it's fully assembled we take it outside and paint everything on a black board. paint making sure to cover everything very well. I styled it with a hurricane vase from Dollar Tree and a candle and then used some lamb's ear from Walmart and some pink peonies just to fill it out a little and I think it looks really cute.
It has a high end look and we got a little over three dollars on this chandelier and it is so impressive, especially considering that price, even though it is small it can be scary so it's a fish that comes to mind for me mind when I think about a fish I think about two things I think about sushi and I think about fishing and when I think about fishing I think about my cousin Alec Alec was seriously the most amazing little guy you've ever met in your life and he was He was diagnosed with cancer many years ago and he fought very very hard honestly he was an amazing kid because despite the pain he was in he never once complained never asked why I was literally probably too perfect for this life because he excelled at only being 12 years and Alec loved to fish and his Make-a-Wish even went fishing in Alaska, which he did shortly before he passed away, so my idea for this fish is to make a trampoline in the garden in his honor, so what What I'm going to do is take you outside and we're going to do this with concrete, a little more of that concrete, so I start by mixing a little more concrete for our shape.
I decided to use a pot liner. I picked it up in a three pack at Dollar Tree. I sprayed it with some cooking spray again and poured in some of our foreign concrete. I grab a cooled cookie rack from Dollar Tree and grab some tin snips and cut it to fit inside our shape, this just adds a little more stability to the trampoline. Now I don't know if it's really necessary but I figured it wouldn't hurt so I poured the rest of our concrete on top and smoothed it out and my plan for the fish is to make an impression with it and for that to work we need it to be a little bit more firm but still a little moist.
I let it sit for about two hours, then I take our fish and push it into the bottom third of our Stone and let it sit for 24 hours outside, then I take it out of our container to make it easier to place the jig. First I spray it with a clear coat and that will help me to be able to leave my stencil and and not allow the cement to chip off and I took a stencil that I made on my Cricut machine and then I also mixed some black exterior paint with some paint gray to soften it up a bit and then I fill in our exterior stencil after the fact to also add three additional fish on the bottom and then when we're done painting it I add an additional clear coat.
Now, when I saw this little Fisher, he immediately reminded me of Alex's silhouette. Alec may have passed on to the other side, but those who loved him will never forget him here on Earth, so I really loved this project and I hope you found inspiration in it. I hope you enjoyed this episode, if so here's another one. I think you will like it too and to all my DIY Niners I just want to remind you once again that you are more powerful than you think, see you next time, bye.
