to do in Rome when it rains. When it rains in Rome, everyone tends to head to the Vatican. Which is a pretty logical choice, it's raining, let's go inside. But everyone has the same idea as you. So guess

, the Vatican will be packed with soaking wet people. Wet jackets, wet umbrellas. Actually, when it rains often in Rome, this is what happens. So it's raining today, look at this. The weather forecast said rain all day and look what happened.

Beautiful, beautiful skies, and we're going to have some beautiful sunsets. That's another benefit for Rome when it rains, another reason why I say go out when it rains, okay? Here's another reason, look at these puddles. I got these reflections and they are great photos. I like to see them too. Even if you are not photographing, but simply seeing what is in the puddles, it can really be a pleasure. Check it out. See the church there. So, it's a lot of fun, looking at the puddles and the photos in the puddles when it rains. One of my favorite things to do.

Also, sometimes when it rains a lot, not like now, you have some monuments to yourself. So maybe you'll have the Trevi Fountain all to yourself. You go out into the rain, in the rain, and head to the Trevi Fountain or the Colosseum. You would be surprised to know that you are the only one there. Everyone has gone to the Vatican. Well, what to do in Rome when it rains? So, sunsets, go out and enjoy the views. Avoid the Vatican. Take great photos of beautiful skies and puddles. And maybe use it as an excuse to visit some cozy cafes, some cozy wine bars.

Another great thing to do in Rome when it rains. One of my favorite things is visiting the Pantheon. Pantheon When it rains in Rome, it is taken inside the Pantheon. So if it rains enough, you can watch it rain. Another thing you can do in Rome when it rains is go to a church. Many churches in Rome are filled with incredible art and architecture. I'm here, standing in front of one of my favorite churches in Rome, called San Luigi dei Francesi, which means Saint Louis of the French. And it has a chapel with three Caravaggio paintings, so you can go in there, enjoy your Caravaggio artwork, and stay out of the rain until it lights up.

Well, here is another example of a fabulous church, which you can enter when it rains in Rome. Yes, it's not raining right now, but it is a

rainy

day. So if it were raining and, frankly, even if it wasn't, this is a great church to visit. You can easily spend quite a bit of time here. There is an optical illusion on the ceiling and many beautiful works of art. It's amazing and you can sit and just enjoy the space. This is another great idea for something to do in Rome when it rains. Enter a church. Some other great ideas for things to do in Rome when it rains, especially if it's raining hard, you might want to head to some of the wonderful underground things we have to see in Rome.

You won't be able to book the Colosseum and St. Peter's Tomb under the Vatican at the last minute, but there are plenty of wonderful things to see underground in Rome, such as the churches of San Clemente and Santa Cecilia. There is also a fantastic underground museum and a sight you can see right near the Colosseum, called the Roman houses of Caelius. You can easily spend an hour there visiting these incredible frescoes and relics from 2000 years ago. It's just amazing and almost never crowded. And if you want to visit some museums on a

rainy

day in Rome, not the Vatican, you can try these museums, like the Capitoline Museums, which are among my favorites in Rome.

There is a lot to see there and you can easily spend a few hours on a rainy day. You can also head to the Ara Pacis, which is Augustus' altar of peace. This is an amazing museum that is surrounded by a glass building. So, when it is raining outside, it is very beautiful and evocative to be inside, contemplating this incredible monument. I also recommend the Galleria Doria Pamphilj museum. This is a noble family home, right in the center of Rome, and you can see these amazing rooms with original furniture and beautiful works of art. It's just a fantastic place to spend a rainy afternoon in Rome.

And of course, I have to take my umbrella. Now, it's not raining right now, but it was raining earlier today and you should be prepared for rain. I love my umbrella that has this little button, which you see here, that makes the umbrella open and also close. Therefore, I don't have to put my hand all the way into the umbrella that closes it.
