update

number 18 now it's mainly some improvements here in the cabin and I did do a repair with the

fuel

system, but before we get into that the only thing that I didn't really do a good job of documenting was that I added a

fuel

alarm recoil and it was really simple. I found this part on eBay. I'll put a link below if I end up finding another one and just plug it into the positive side of the backup light, basically if the backup light is on. that will sound, but other than that, we will do it and I thank everyone who subscribed and commented on the channel.

They help me and I love the ideas and everything I receive from people in the comments and it motivates me to continue. Moving forward with the projects and all that, so again, thank you, keep up with the comments, I appreciate you seeing everything well, what are you going to do next. I finally got a pair of A1r cockpit handles. I'm going to put them. As you can see, I already put one on because I wanted to know what happened, but I have the driver's side one here and we'll check it out and I'll show you what I did.

More Interesting Facts About,

m1078 lmtv update 18 fuel prime loss fix a1r cab upgrades...

I wanted to thank Michael at Tactical Machinery for actually getting one of his t-shirts, sending it to me with them, and trading with him for them. I have done many things with him in the past and I am sure that if you are part of FMTV. group on Facebook and stuff like that, you've seen them there, great seller, he's got some good stuff, I'll just take a look at it to make sure it's in a good place and I'm going to use rivet nuts, here it is. what i have for tools rivet nut gun center punch something to mark where you are going to drill the holes you are actually going to need eight of these rivet nuts 5 16 18. a half inch deep ratchet works well because that way it gets out of the way of the rail I ended up using a step drill because for the riv nuts I drilled you needed to drill a 7 16 hole and safety glasses and some mineral water is always necessary.

It's okay, you still use the normal handles. in and out, but the Rainer is not what I wanted. I use this side step all the time and it gives you a secure handle to go in here and do things like check the cab, check the tire going in and out of the bed, it's definitely not going anywhere. I don't know if I'd trust anything really heavy, especially with the glass here, but you could hang it like a little Packer bag of this if you wanted, don't worry. It's hanging I don't know, I guess a little bit counts.

It looks good, how long did it take? The other side took a little longer the first time I did it because I was a little worried that I was going to drill in the wrong place because I was worried there would be seams. I mean, if you look at it, maybe it's a little crooked, but there's a little bit of play when you loosen it, but I'll blame it on my wife that this side is crooked because she was on and put the marks like you saw on the video, now that I've finished the handles, I'm going to make some more improvements to the cockpit, the seat is actually a little downgraded, but I have to get it done in order. to add this cab storage box and then this is replaced behind the seat so I'm going to replace this mrap seat that was here when I bought the truck the radio mount I installed behind the seat and then I used some rivet nuts to install the storage shelf that goes more or less behind the head, here are the half inch 7 16 tools I used along with the 7 16 socket to adjust the mirrors, a 10 millimeter wrench and a socket the size to attach the storage that is in the floor in the rear that mounts directly to the bottom of the cab and also the size of the bolts for the rib nuts that I used, which are M6 for one, used little impact and half an inch for the region with some horrible extensions to get that partner off a notch. drill bit to get to the right size for the rivet nuts use this to cut that green piece at the back marker mark where I need to drill the rivet holes this to remove some of the pins and rivet nut tool and then my little Ryobi came back to buy to clean up foreign foreign mess well until I went to put the seat in and even the factory seat doesn't match the bracket here.
I don't know what the problem is, but um, the reason why my other seat is like this. was here it was loose it was the bracket that was made by the previous owner uh the brackets were all broken and there were some bolts missing and stuff so that wouldn't help but other than that the installation of all this stuff was actually quite good. It's a bit annoying to put the Rev Nuts on, sorry for the dark recording here. I mean, this thing is up there solid. I don't know why they only rated it at 35 pounds, but I guess because it's right there next to Rev Nuts and they figure 35 pounds with this and Cab Tilt Strength and all that.
The other thing you saw in the fast forward was that this isn't going to stay hacked like this. I didn't want to put crazy riffs on this and I'm going to end up changing it. Put this radio shelf on one, so I'll end up removing this whole back piece and it'll just disappear. I just booted it up so I could complete this task for now I forgot to say before. I got this from uh. Pat, when I saw it in North Carolina on my trip over the summer and it still had some of its leaves from its nice little area in the backyard, that's where I got this and this from anyway, I'm happy that are in me.
I just have to find something for a seat, so I'm going to park the truck in the middle. Here is the solution I came up with at the moment to place this seat here. This is the adapter bracket that was there. here's an extra one I had. I think the way it's supposed to be, at least maybe on these older cabs or trucks, is the adjusting brackets, so I looked on the passenger side, they are slightly different and have holes that bolt directly to The body and seat are very, very low. I honestly don't know where this adapter came from, maybe there were newer style seats because it's like the old style seat uses this plate to raise it up a bit so basically just place them upside down against each other, screw them on and then in which it should go to the floor, since it is exactly the same width.
I just drilled two holes a little shorter to match the bolts that come out of the adjustment rails on the seat and if you're a short person this wouldn't work very well for you at all. I don't think it's that bad. I actually like to sit higher when I'm in a vehicle to get a better view and it works pretty well for me. It also gives you some storage space underneath. I adjusted my mirrors to sit a little higher than I was and finished cleaning the inside of the storage boxes and everything, so voila, we're set. with the cabin

upgrades

uh a1r uh here, okay, let's move on to the next thing.
I'm pretty sure what's wrong. I'm not going to lift the cab right now, but I'll just show that your truck has been sitting here for a while. Imagine the truck is running and made me a liar. It should only be when it's colder. I show you this is what I was doing to myself when it was cold. I have the manual throttle up right now, bled air, but I had a problem, basically it would start running for about 10 to 15 seconds and start sputtering and the fuel system was losing its

prime

. My best guess is that it is coming from the fuel water separator.
It is quite common for bowls and such to leak. I have a complete replacement that I'm going to put in there, here's the brand new assembly, cool, it's in the nomenclature, uh, I bought this on eBay, the person had quite a few. I'll put a link to that Ebay listing in the description I don't know how long this will last this is what I use for the tools on the project some of the things that aren't obvious 11 16 5 8 another 11 16 steep socket that was to get out of one of the fittings 10 mil some same size wrenches this is for removing the fuel filters by cutting the flanges this is just to help with some of the fittings as well and then some metric o rings some o ring lube because some of the o rings The rings were defective when I took the accessories out of the swap, so when I was looking at this trying to figure out exactly what caused the problem, it could have been a couple of things.
On top of the filter here were a couple of pieces. algae gel, whatever was probably collected from the tank over the last few years and I was wondering if one of them got stuck in this little check valve here, that could have been a problem, the second one was tight, but here this It's a little raised. but I don't know, it still feels good, I thought it would have leaked, that was the problem, but the third one and I think this is probably the culprit is seeing the screws that are a little rusty on this heater element.
The heating element is a little loose, you probably can't see it in the video, but there is enough play with that rubber insert in the plastic container that I assume that once it is cold and not cold, it will contract enough to allow enter enough air. and then it's possible that there was actually some fuel leaking out and then I just didn't notice it because it was parked in the sand, so if it was leaking out of this cable and then dripping and dripping somewhere underneath, it wasn't. I noticed it or it was just drifting towards the tank with it and it really wasn't, but something is my assumption anyway so I don't think the container is good.
I think this is still good, so I guess I have a spare. well, it made a lot of sense while we replaced that to replace the other fuel filter as well. I had one left over from Caterpillar, but from now on I'll probably use Wix filters on both. I'll have links in the description for both. these filters and I will also link to the video where I covered how to replace them in more depth. If you want to see that re-zipping tied everything up a little more securely in cold weather, I'll try to start again, hopefully.
I solved the problem well, so it's colder than ever in South Texas. I think it's 21 degrees right now. I'm going to give the fuel filter bowl a few seconds to warm up and I don't have ether in the truck so this will be a straight cold start. I'm going to turn up the manual throttle a little bit. Cold diesel, well I guess it was fixed and the truck starts when it's cold. All indicators are doing what they are supposed to do. build an air oil pressure okay the battery is charging let it run for a while and they'll take it for a spin later okay that concludes this

update

video as usual I'm way behind on my editing of video and I have more, actually, more. more completed projects than edited videos, so stay tuned for more and hopefully I can catch up here.
I have some big projects ready to go and I already have a few done here on the truck that I just have to get to. edited so stay tuned
