in our lives. He is an ever-present help in times of trouble. He is powerful to save and he is the Good. Shepherd watching over his flock day and night at night the scripture at the heart of this

story is from Psalm 121 verse 4.

The English Standard Version exhorts us behold, he who keeps Israel will not slumber nor sleep, so while you fall asleep, precious listener. you can rest completely knowing that the guardian of heaven himself is watching over you you are safe in his arms you are completely safe in his embrace even though the world may feel like it is collapsing around you sometimes he is in control he is protecting you and your loved ones loved ones and he is blessing you with a deep sleep tonight you can give him all your worries they are burdens you are not designed to carry he wants to care for them while you rest in him you can fall asleep like a trusting child knowing that his

father is working all things for good, just as King David experienced his Guardian God in many miraculous and ordinary ways, we will delve into the nature of our Guardian God through the word and have his eyes open to his constant protection and faithful guardianship as we begin to prepare for our dream story.

I invite you to snuggle up in bed. Let your head and neck sink into the pillows. Relax your eyes as they succumb to sleep, letting them close gently. Relax your jaw. and forehead and all the muscles of the face inhale and exhale gently feel any tension from the day gently dissolving with each exhalation release all tension in the back, shoulders, chest and stomach continue scanning your body bringing your awareness to any sense of tension where stress has built up let it go relax the muscles all the way up to the spine gently release all tension in the arms finally move through the legs to the calves and ankles to the tips of the toes inhale and with each exhale you will find that your body will relax a little more come into stillness be still and know that he is God bring your awareness to the

of the Holy Spirit within you and around you he is sent to protect you he is alert so you can fall completely asleep, he will take care of you day and night so that you can live in his rest not only while you sleep but also when you wake up.

Guardian God we want to start this night under your protection we are weak and you are strong thank you for giving us so many stories in your word to show us that you are our guardian and steward and the preserver of our lives thank you, may you never sit idly by When trouble arises, Almighty God, I pray that you, commander of the armies of angels, will fill this precious child with the peace that passes understanding, they are under your care and under your loving gaze it is your pleasure to watch over them.

While they rest on you, only you can protect them when no one else is around. As your son listens to this story tonight, may he not only hear of your guardianship, but may he genuinely experience your preserving power in his life. May his anxieties disappear and surrender to trust. in you that they may have complete confidence in you as the strong and powerful deliverer of him through the power of your spirit in the name of your son Jesus. Amen, if you have been walking with God for some time, you have probably had moments of doubt when problems and attacks have come to you and you have wondered if God was there or if he was busy taking care of seemingly more important matters.

Let me encourage you from the beginning that your life and every little detail is intrinsically important to him, even the things that you feel are insignificant in your life are intensely significant to him there may be many thoughts running around in your head in those difficult moments of trouble. and doubts. Chief among them is the question: can you trust him with your life, your loved ones, your needs and desires, will he show up and protect you when you need him most. My hope and prayer is that tonight's story will open your eyes to the hundreds of times a day he protects you and protects you fiercely.

He drives home this point about His nature in reading the Scriptures so often because He knows we will have these questions, but precious son, He is your good father and guardian God, as our foundational verse for this story says, in fact, He who watches over Israel never slumbers or sleeps, he not only protects you while you sleep. but he protects you as you go through each day. He is not passive. He actively protects you. Let me read you all of Psalm 121. and listen to the psalmist's Revelation about our Guardian God. The New Living Translation puts it this way. look towards the mountains this help can come from there my help comes from the Lord who made the heavens and the earth he will not let you stumble he who cares for you will not truly fall asleep He who cares for Israel never falls asleep nor sleeps the Lord himself You Take care, the Lord is at your side like your protective shadow, the sun will not harm you during the day nor the moon at night, the Lord protects you from all harm and takes care of your life, the Lord takes care of you as you come and go now and forever, this Psalm tells us it clearly shows that he is always vigilant, he watches over us day and night and does not get tired or weary and takes care of you just like a father anxiously watches his little child while he plays in the playground. your father watches over you gives us free will to make decisions and freedom to explore and learn and that means we can make mistakes, but he is there to catch us and keep us from falling, as we read in verse 3, he will not let you stumble and The Psalm 66 also reiterates to us who keeps us in life and does not allow our feet to slip, he is not an overprotective father who nullifies our free will, which is one of the most incredible aspects of his otherworldly love, he is all-powerful and could control us if he wanted to, but because His love is pure and spotless, He will never hinder our freedom of choice, but when we use our free will and destructive ways, He already has a plan to turn every mistake into a lesson that will become a blessing. when he draws us back to him, he promises you in this psalm that the Lord himself watches over you, the Lord is at your side as your protective shadow, the sun will not harm you by day nor the moon by night, the Lord keeps you from all damage. and watch over your life, the Lord watches over you as you come and go, now and forever, the Lord God Almighty himself watches over you, let that sink into your spirit, he could simply commission his angels to do it and He orders them like this, but he himself actually observes you.

He is not a distant or past God who simply delegates your care to his ministering angels, he is watching over you not only in this life where there is an enemy behind you but also in the next life. when everything will be fixed. because he loves you so much, he watches you with total love and devotion, you are a prized possession, he couldn't take his eyes off you even if he tried, he loves you passionately, he never turns his back on you, his eyes are like the eyes of an eagle and even if he feels far away sometimes he is actually closer than the breath in your lungs nothing in your life goes unnoticed by him if you are going through a season even now when you feel exposed to attacks and problems and even abandoned by your guardian God, let me encourage you with the prophetic word of Jeremiah in chapter 31 verse 9. with tears they will come and with supplication I will guide them, I will make them walk along streams of water on a straight path in which they will not stumble because I am the father of Israel , you can insert your name where it says Israel because you are also the chosen one of God, he will guide you through streams of water, in other words, God will lead you out of temptation and storms and bring you to stillness and peace, and he will meet your needs, although there are ups and downs in our journey father God will guide you on straight paths where you will not stumble because he is your dad God and not only is he your dad but he is the king of the universe and the commander of Angel Armies personally gives you your spirit holy to protect you every second of every day, as well as command untold numbers of angelic hosts to watch over you and minister to you, that is an incredible thought, let's listen to King David's revelation about his guardian God in the Psalm 91 verse. 6 and the translation of the good news whoever turns to the Lord for safety whoever remains under the protection of the almighty can say to him you are my Defender and protector you are my God in you I trust that he will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases he will cover you with his wings you will be safe under his care his faithfulness will protect and defend you you must not fear any danger at night nor sudden attacks during the day nor the plagues that strike in the darkness where the evils are to kill In the light of day there is nothing to fear when he is near and he is near at every moment, you can feel encouraged because when you are attacked and when you wonder where God was, just know that he was with you all the time.

I was in the furnace of Affliction with you, the furnace that purifies the refining fire and take comfort in the fact that he has counted your pains and has collected every tear Psalm 56 8 tells us you keep track of all my pains you have collected all my tears in your wineskin you have recorded each one in your book and imagine the protection that we have not seen with our eyes. There have been countless times when the Lord has kept illnesses, accidents, and dangers of all kinds from coming close to you. You will only know in eternity. how many times as angels have protected both you and your loved ones from a multitude of Harms just as it happened with Elisha in Second Kings 6 17.

Elijah prayed oh Lord open his eyes and let him see the Lord opened the eyes of the young man and when He looked up and saw that the hillside around Elisha was full of horses and chariots of fire, he is so good, let us praise God right now for his goodness, father, God, our Defender, we are torn with gratitude that you have given us protected even when we didn't realize it. open our eyes to see when you are guarding and guiding us, make us aware of your presence that you have assigned angels to protect us because we read in Psalm 34 7. the angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him and delivers them That is us, thank you because you will deliver us and you will never fail us and if we doubt your goodness it is because we only see through our limited point of view.

You are so great and powerful that we can run to you and find safety in the name of Jesus. Amen like you. lie here safe and comfortable in your bed feel yourself going to the Lord for safety Psalm 91 promises that if you do this you will remain under the protection of the almighty God under his protection there is nothing to fear so come precious one come and snuggle under his wings even as you snuggle under your soft blankets he spreads his protection over you like a blanket Psalm 5 11 says but let all those who take refuge in you rejoice, let them always sing for joy and spread over them your protection that those who love do your name. come out in yourself with the eyes of faith see him spreading his mantle of protection over you tonight nothing will harm you when you hide under his wings four as we read in psalm 91. you should not fear any danger at night or sudden attacks during the day. or the plagues that strike in the darkness or the evils that kill in daylight there is nothing to worry about either night or day for your guardian God fights for you in Deuteronomy 3 7 says do not be afraid of them for the Lord your God fights for you when King David was being persecuted by men who literally wanted to kill him, deliver a faith-filled statement in Psalm 138 7.

Even though I walk in trouble, you preserve my life, you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies in your right hand deliver me, let us pray for your beloved father even when it is difficult to see you move in our name we trust that you are moving please help us activate our faith to trust you when we can not trace you and even when attacks seem who are beating us, you are our guardian God and you only judge and tell us in your word that you will have revenge on all our enemies so that we will never be afraid.

Thank you for that, even when Like David, you walk right in the middle of problems, you preserve and guard Our Lives. You stretch out your loving hand over us and deliver us from all our enemies, but we await deliverance in areas of Our Lives. Do not be afraid you are worth much more than many sparrows you are worth much more to God than the sparrows he did not send his son to die for them but he loved you so much that he asked his only son to die for you this is your value to God the Father you are of utmost importance to him as the lyrics of the old classic hymn say why should I feel discouraged? why should the Shadows come? why should my heart feel lonely and long for heaven and home when Jesus is my portion, a constant friend?

His eye is on the sparrow and I know he cares for me. The eye is on the sparrow and I know that he is looking at me strangely. I invite you to imagine even as one of these little sparrows imagines if you could live without a care in the world as they are so present in the moment without regretting the past or worrying anxiously. about the future not letting any doubt about God eclipse the present simply loving the gift of the Here and Now fluttering freely in the sky blissfully unaware of any attack that comes against them this kind of peace that passes understanding is not only possible for birds Jesus uses that metaphor because he is also telling us that it is also an offer to us that we can live in this kind of peace, but it is even more powerful for us because, unlike The Sparrows, we know that we have a guardian God who protects us. at all times and providing us with every need looking at us like a loving father Never letting our feet stumble King David had a revelation of this truth about God even when he was fleeing from King Saul and lived for many years as a fugitive, writes under the inspiration of the holy spirit in Psalm 59 which was written by David at the time when King Saul placed guards at his house to capture and kill him oh God my strength I will sing your praises for you are my place of safety my God is immutable in his love for me and him come and help me, he will allow me to see my wish come true upon my enemies, do not kill them for my people soon forget those lessons, but shake them with your power and bring them to their knees, bring them to the dust, oh Lord, our Shield.
