More Interesting Facts About,

diy thrifted christmas trash to treasure stocking project how to make wood stockings...

I'm just going to tape them here and then we'll draw our outline. Alright, let's go ahead and draw our outline here, so let's look at the toe that we probably want to be foreign. I think it looks pretty good, so we're going to cut it out and then draw it on our board, so now the only thing. What we're left with is to draw this on our board and then we're going to cut it out so we have our pattern on our board and we're just going to draw it. I use a pencil because if you use a pen or a marker and try to paint over it, if you don't cut it in the process, it will continue to bleed, so why do extra work now?

I have two more pieces of wood, let's make three because I think three. is the perfect number and we are going to do the same with the other pieces of wood, we will draw our pattern there. No, I'm looking at this. I think I want this a little thinner, so I've already started doing that. I'm just going to make this a little bit thinner. I don't think it's necessary to make it that wide, so we modified our pattern a little bit again, you make it up as you go so you can do whatever. you want with it I think it looks a little better than having it so wide now let's cut them out if you want to learn how to use the jigsaw.
diy thrifted christmas trash to treasure stocking project how to make wood stockings
I have a class and go over everything from buying wood to learning. the machine I teach you how to cut everything out and we make five projects I'll teach you how to paint them and make them look really cool and you'll be ready to do craft shows and vintage markets and you'll also get these five free patterns this class is aimed at beginners and if you're interested, I'll leave a link in the description. Well, I already have them all cut out and I just want you to know that you don't have to cut them into parchment. saw, you can use a jigsaw, so you can still do the project, it's just for me.
I have a jigsaw and it's easier for me to do it, so we need to make a hole to hang our stocking, we can put a little bit. jute over here, but we have to drill a hole and we're going to drill it, so we'll just hang it like this and then I'll drill a hole right here in the corner, very easy, so now we have all three. drilled and I'm just going to sand the sides. I don't want to stay at the top. I want it to be a little rougher because we're going to go over it with sandpaper and we're going to rough it up after we paint it so it's It's better if I don't sand the top, but I do want to sand the sides because you know when you cut wood you have a little bit of this, so the first thing I'm going to do is sand it a little bit.
What I do is I'm going to use a little bit of this, it's from Dixie Bell, it's called Voodoo Gel Stain Tobacco Road. I'm just going to put a little bit of that on the overseas, this will give it a nice rich tone that we'll be able to see underneath the white paint, I really like using this stain because unlike other stains it's not oily and dries down. very fast and as you can see it really leaves a nice rich tone on the wood since we are painting the wood. I'm worried about the line marks I made when spraying the dye; however, if you are going to use this and you have it natural, you may want to just put it on a cloth and then stain it, don't spray it on there because all woods are different. and some of the wood is porous and you might see lines like this, it's absolutely perfect, no problem with the previous one, you can see the lines a little bit, but again we're painting this so we don't really have to worry about it .
Okay, we're going to let it dry there, okay, these are completely dry on the sides, we're going to turn it over and do the back of these. I'm going to finish all three and let them dry well so that they are completely dry and we are going to paint them white. I have some white paint here and we're not going to cover everything, we're going to make it look really worn and the texture of the wood really makes it work well and the texture is so good on these tights that we're not even going to need to sand them because They already look sanded.
I'm going to paint the three

stockings

using this technique. Again, you're not going to paint the entire stocking, you're going to skip spots on purpose to make it look worn and worn. I really love how they turn out, they look great, so let's let them dry now while they're drying, let's work on some embellishments, these are new to my Etsy shop and I have more things to show you in a moment, stay Stay tuned because I have some things that are so cute they will make your heart melt. for these ornaments I'm going to paint them different Christmas colors this one we're going to paint red this is just a simple acrylic paint and I'm going to leave the paint color in the description below we're going to make this light bulb in green and Again, I'm just using acrylic paint and all paint colors will be listed in the description for you foreigner this is such a pretty color.
I really love this color for this last bulb, we're just going to do this in a muted way. color white I wanted to make these bulbs a little more 3D so I made these little decorative pieces that we're going to put in there and we're also going to paint them antique white when you're painting all of this you might want to wear gloves because as you can see it's a little bit messy, let's finish them all and let them dry. Now that they are dry, we will sand the edges and give them a worn look, oh my goodness I am.
If we love these foreign objects, we need to tone them down a little bit, so again we'll use Dixie Bell's Voodoo Gel Stain and rub it all over the ornaments to give them an aged look if you want to get them. some of this stain I go to Marion Green in the Maple Street mall and I will leave a link in the description for Yoshi she is amazing to work with and I get all my Dixie Bell paints from her they look so much better all toned down now is the time . to glue these pieces together and we're going to use a little bit of this tight Bond, so I'm just going to put this guy on the back of all of our little decorative pieces and glue them together.
I want to make these Sparkles, so we're going to use a little bit of this Mod Podge here and we're going to use a little bit of this German sparkle glass. This will make them look so strange that you're going to dip your brush in the Mod Podge and then you're done. you're going to put that over your entire ornament, now you're going to take a little pinch of that shiny german glass and you're going to sprinkle it over your entire ornament, you can even rub it on too, you can go back and add a little bit of mod podge and shiny german glass in the areas that you think might still need it and I'm going to repeat the process with the other three ornaments, these are completely dry to the touch and we're going to take some of that Tobacco Road. by Dixie Bell and we're going to put it on top of our paint again, we're going to use Tobacco Road, this is going to give it a little bit of an older look instead of being so white now.
I think they look really good, let's finish nice, so through the hole we're going to put some jute, we're going to tie some jute so this can really hang and then I have this from the flea market, it's really a stripe cool it's very muted and we're going to use this as a cuff that will hide the little hole where the jute goes in and then we made these trims and I think this is going to look lovely together so go ahead and start putting these socks or stockings together I should say , so we're going to take a little piece of jute, okay, and we're just going to roll it through our stockings.
I'm going to tie it in place and then I'm also going to tie a knot down here to allow it to hang nicely. I'm going to do that with the other two. You want to make them about the same size so they hang the same way. let's level the same thing and then measure one and line this up so the knot is right here, we're going to tie that knot for this one right there overseas too, that way again they'll hang at the same level and I have to do that with the last one, like this that now all of our ups are okay, so I have our fabric, okay, let's see how much we are going to need, let's wrap it so that approximately we need this amount.
I'm going to fold it down, so I'm going to do a little bit here is where it is, this is where I'm going to cut so I can fold it over and we'll have more, I'm just going to cut a strip of this fabric. Back in, we're going to fold this down and then we're going to glue it in place, so what we want to do is we have a nice finished edge on the bottom and also on the top, you're going to go like this and do it in thirds , you're going to glue it like this, okay, that's what we're going to do, we're going to glue this in thirds, we're just using the hot glue gun and we're going to fold it like this. and we're going to do the same thing with this to fold it into thirds, well, not that you know it's a little less fine, so now we'll have two finished edges, one for the bottom and one for the top, so now you go to wrap that and then we're going to glue it in place, so I'm just going to put a little bit of hot glue in there, we're going to leave that and then we're going to put a little bit of hot glue, place that and of course, we're going to have to cut it, but okay, so I'm going to cut this right here because we have too much fabric and now we're going to glue it on as well.
I just glued it on the back here, it's not glued here and I'll show you why as soon as we finish doing it with both of them, so we made those little embellishments and we're going to use a A little bit of this thread here shine a little bit of thread and you want it long enough that it can go under the cuff tie, you know, and this is going to go over here and that's why we don't glue it on yet. as soon as we get everything in place, so I'm going to do that with other foreign embellishments, it's just not enough, it's not enough to make it work, you know, wow, so what we're going to do is add a little bit.
Greenery we're gonna take some some some stems of this and add it to that add it to that add it to that and then you could even use some of this. I actually bought this at Walmart and I love it, I think it's great, we could hang some of this up too, but first let's see what it looks like, so I'm going to re-cut some of these here. I think I might need a little more, maybe I don't know, I don't know the foreigner. Well, for now, let's paste these down here. I'm going to start with the red over here, a little bit of hot glue underneath, here we'll stick this sprig of greenery and then we'll also stick on our ornament, it's quite pretty. cute, actually okay, let's go ahead and paste this in too, okay, I'm going to add a little bit of this here.
I have a little piece, you can add it to that. I'll cut a little piece off here so we can add it to that, so we just need one more thank you and we'll go ahead and cut it off there, so let's paste this in place as well. I think that's nice, one thing I noticed when you go to hang them. everything wants to slide to the side, so I think we're going to glue the topper so it doesn't slide on us, glue it right in the center, and then we'll just apply a little bit of glue here to hold it in place.
This in place so it doesn't fall off too. One more thing you might want to do is when they are hanging, you will see them as a vest. Maybe you want to shoot. I think that's what I'm going to do. I love that too. I think it's so beautiful. These Christmas ornaments will be in my Etsy store and I have good news: we are having another 15 sales over two weeks, so if you missed the last sale, this is your chance to pick up those things you might want and I have lots of new things to choose from.
I'm very excited to show you first. We have this beautiful snowflake garland. Comes with five unfinished snowflakes on twine. It's a DIY project, you just paint it with thread. Go ahead and it's a beautiful garland you could even add that glitter German glass and these would be absolutely gorgeous. My friend Karma convinced me that you have to have a pet DIY. People love their pets. She loves pets so much that she simply stops someone on the street and asks them about her dog, for example. when we were in springfield we were supposed to film the home decor and watch what she filmed like this and this is greasy and when it came time to meet and greet she was going to filmeveryone who came to see the flea market rescue and when I was reviewing the film footage look what I found well, well I think someone got a little sidetracked again.
I just had to laugh because earlier she was trying to convince me to put dogs in the video and I told her this is a home decor show, not a pet show, so these new DIY ornaments are in honor of my best friend Karma and all pet lovers. This is a DIY kit, so it comes unfinished. You can choose which dog you want, what type of font you want and you can even choose. a paw print and a small bone and personalize it so they are back in my Etsy store. Now you're ready to see the cutest thing you've ever seen.
Look at this Nutcracker. These are very large hang tags and are DIY so they come from natural wood. and you put them together, they come with paint and instructions and also instructions on how to put them together. There are five super cute ones to choose from. I only have 20 labels available in total now, so I expect them to sell out quite a bit. quickly, if you want one, I will go to Etsy as soon as you can to purchase our last item, which is also our last project. I will be selling these sparkly Marion doormats in my Etsy shop and I have them available right now, let's go ahead and make one.
I have seen many people use Flex Seal to make these mats. Normally I would just use some exterior paint and a stencil, however everyone says this Flex Seal is really good so I just want to see if it works. worth it so I have this vinyl that's not permanent it's like you know it's removable vinyl and I made Merry Christmas we're literally going to remove Merry Christmas and then we're going to put it on the mat. Today I have my friend Karma here. so she's going to help me with this mat, as you can see, we're just going to remove all the text and we'll just be left with the outside.
I think this looks very good. I'm not going to put transfer tape on this vinyl though because I really don't think it's going to stick that hard, so if I try to lift the transfer tape it's going to keep pulling on the vinyl, so we're going to do it carefully. first put it on the mat first that tag has to go right okay let's shoot that pretty much oh right there yeah so you want to find your corner and as you can see she and I were fighting with that. and then you are going to peel the vinyl off the backing you want to be careful not to tear the vinyl when you lift it up you will have little internal pieces that will be stuck on the backing but we will work on that later now we just want to place the vinyl that we peeled off the backing onto the mat.
I was so glad someone helped me with this because I think this would have been a lot for just one person to take it off and try to put it on at the same time. Now this looks good and we just need to add those little pieces back in now on YouTube. I saw someone use a heat gun to enhance this vinyl bar. to the mat because as you can see it's not really there so here it's all set and I just need to use that heat gun and then I'll spray it with that Flex spray now the next day.
When I went to use my son's heat gun, he couldn't find it, so Karma suggested why don't you use some parchment paper, put it on there and use an iron. It's basically the same thing, so I tried it a lot. To my surprise, it was actually stuck down there, thanks. I think this might have worked now that I took it outside, the bristles on the mat moved a little so I noticed it lifted a little so you really have to be careful. It would probably be ideal if I could have taken the iron outside now, when you're using this Flex spray, you're going to want to wear gloves, on top of that, you should be wearing a respirator, okay, let's get to it.
I shook the can. and now we're going to use this Flex Seal. You want to try to get a nice, even coat and anything you see that doesn't have enough Flex, go over it again. I really didn't know what to expect. I did it. I don't know if this stuff would stay stuck there once it dried, so I figured you know, let's peel it off after we spray it. I'm being careful that this doesn't touch the mat and leave some kind of black mark wow, this looks fabulous, it's very sharp and it's also very, very black, all I have to do is pick out those little bits that are still left.
I have to say I am really impressed with this Flex Seal which I would definitely use. Again, I actually like it better than exterior paint because it leaves a very black print and is really very sharp. I guess the only thing that was a problem was the vinyl, it was very difficult to work with, but I was using it. like maybe a hard template, this would be a no-brainer again. It will be available in my Etsy shop along with all the other things I showed you a little earlier to ensure your order gets there for Christmas.
All orders must arrive before the 15th, so take advantage of our offer and anything over $35 will also have free shipping. That's it for this episode of Flea Market Rescue.
