Okay, let's get started because I have a lot to cover for anyone who doesn't know what wallabies have to offer. had its place among the preppy crowds, hip-hop culture and other people here in the US since 1967. Regarding hip-hop, legend has it that wallabies and Clark's desert boots appeared in the early 80s on the island of Jamaica, so I know it was kind of a status symbol on the streets similar to what the Nike Cortez were in Cali or the Nike Air Force One in New York. When many Jamaican immigrants began arriving in the New York area, they brought their Clarks with them and it caught their attention. in the tri-state area, most notably to me, the wu-tang clan of staten island brought in these conventional killers and specifically Ghostface, the wallaby champion showed me personally how fly they are, but that's just my experience and apart from the wallabies, Clark's company has a much deeper relationship.

history

the company was founded in 1825 almost 200 years ago in england by two quaker brothers named james and cyrus clark look at these two trendsetters cyrus owned a tannery which is a company that sold animal skins, but one day his brother james took leftover sheepskin and turned them into slippers he called them petersburg brown and they were so successful in england that they had trouble keeping up with demand and over the years they sold a lot of slippers and other footwear in the 1990s In 1860, James's son William took over the business and modernized the company by investing in the Singer sewing company.

He introduced factory systems into the manufacturing process, making production and quality control much more efficient. I'm overlooking a lot of achievements, but over the years they won many awards and continued. The innovative Clarks are credited with being the first shoes designed to conform to the shape of an individual's foot. They also devised a foot measurement system to find a person's ideal size from those early years. Clarks have played an important role in British fashion, from society types to the average family and as far as I know they have never gone out of style. I also mentioned the New York rappers who made them fly where I'm from, but I have to give an honorable mention to Slick Rick for representing these hearts in England.

Clark's company is probably most famous for desert boots, a shoe that has been in fashion in one form or another for literally decades and to this day remains very popular, but for me, it's all about the wallabies, These are some of the most comfortable and relaxed sneakers. I've had them before, you can wear them for anything from casual situations to formal events, they just have a great classic style and are easy to wear. I've had a few pairs of wild bees in my time and where I'm from. We call them Wall-e. I normally wear the high top pair, but recently bought a pair of low top

I needed something clean for the summer and when I saw these I had to buy them. They still have that classic. Look, but they also made some adjustments that I like better in a minute. These look great with jeans and khakis and I feel like an adult when I wear them. All wallabies are practically made of leather or

on the uppers and their famous crepe soles or plantation rubber this plantation rubber is a natural material that is predominantly made from latex extracted from rubber trees. They even come with a label showing that they have certified natural rubber soles from well-managed forests.
I'm glad to hear those forests. They are well managed but I'm not exactly sure what that means anyway, these soles are unique and extremely comfortable but they are not without their problems, for example literally the moment this sole hits the ground, immediately They start to get dirty, they are like real dirt magnets and If you have pets, they are also skin magnets, it is a well known and almost accepted problem for anyone who has a pair, it is almost impossible to avoid and they are almost impossible to clean, but it is another problem I have with most. wallabies it's how narrow the heel in the sole is on this pair it's different but on most wallabies it's super narrow and sits under the heel with the heel area spilling out the sides when wearing these you always run the risk of twisting your ankle, I've done it.
Many times in a pair of wild bees and it is not fun to return to this large pair of cup. They have widened the midsole and outsole and bleed it into the upper. It is semi-transparent. You can see the gray nubuck through the midsole where it overlaps. the big new book almost looks like it's already scratched, but it's not, it's just how it looks, it's the same magnetic natural rubber for dirt, but it has a much wider stance which I appreciate. I'm less likely to twist my ankle in these plus. adds more protection to the toe area.
That being said, they are sticky, I mean really sticky, for one the tissue paper was stuck to them when I was taking them out of the box, but the crazy thing is if you leave them next to each other they will get stuck. each other look at this, it's a problem I've never experienced before and it explains why they get dirty so quickly, it's like a big slab of dry rubber cement and they're practically sticking together. You can also see that the outsole is different. rubber tone than the midsole this wider stance is new for me with the wallabies but it looks good I just wish they did something to make them less sticky the upper is made of gray nubuck which is premium quality and soft to the touch the first thing I I did when I bought them I sprayed them with a suede protector just to be safe, spray them, wait 10 minutes, spray them again, it's simple and adds that extra layer of protection.
They have this white leather trim around the ankle collar, I'm personally not one. I'm a fan of this hit because with certain pants they look like white socks sticking out, but whatever the heel has a touch of orange suede that I think contrasts well with the gray that makes its way into the shoe. First you see this interesting two-piece shoe. tree that helps retain the shape and a piece of cardboard that protects the insole speaking of the insole it is not removable and only goes halfway up the shoe and stops around the midfoot area it is an off white color with gold foil print and overall it's a premium look working all the way down to the laces.
They come tied with these flat gray laces that are shiny and feel almost silky. Just keep in mind that these silky laces look good but aren't really functional. They come undone after a bit of walking and you may have to tie a double knot in them which said they also came complete with these gold medal aglets. If you watch my channel, you know I'm a fan of cool studs and this is what I'm interested in for this pair. They also included an optional set of orange rope laces. which are tied to the shoe with this spiral knot.
I'd love to show you what they look like with the optional laces, but if I do, I don't think I'll be able to tie this spiral knot again and I like it. This is what it looks like, so I leave them on the shoe they add a fresh, fun flavor to the overall look and it's just a nice pop of color, it's like leaving the bridle on a pair of white pants that I don't know, I just like it, too They come with two leather tags on the right shoe, a gray one that says Clark's Originals and an orange one that says Wallabies.
I'll leave them on now too. I usually don't leave the labels on. type of person, but in this case it works and adds to the look, in my opinion the toolbox is a large piece of nubuck that goes all the way to the ice cradle area and is part of the tongue and like all kangaroos, They have that signature. thick piping sewn completely around the toe area and even the eye stays true to size in my experience, they run large and I would recommend going down a half size when purchasing them, they have a different type of fit and I recommend trying them on before purchasing. if that is possible, in conclusion, Clarks are great, classic, interesting, comfortable and a different style of shoe, just like there is a time and place for Jordans.
There is a time and a place for these. They have existed forever. They've been great forever and I love that. They are still innovating with new looks and colors at $150. They weren't cheap but they are quality and well built with an almost handmade look. I personally think they are great, but I just wish they would explore more synthetic leathers and dirt repellent coatings for the sole. I think those two innovations would open them up to a whole new customer base, regardless. I love a new pair of Wallaby Clarks and look forward to rocking them in the spring and summer.
