Mar 13, 2024
This is Oppo's new

foldable

device, the Oppo Find N2, it was part of Oppo Inno's announcement of the day about a week ago and I have to be direct and honest with you. I didn't get to spend much time with him. I only have one. week to play with it before having to return it to Oppo and by the time I did all our usual testing it was already the third day, however I did my best to use the device as much as I could so that I could give you a proper

review

of user experience in this video, there will be a lot of references and comparisons with the Galaxy z442, which is my daily driver since its launch, so let's start talking objectively about the Oppo Find N2 first and then I'll leave it. all my thoughts, opinions and also comments in the usability segment of this video, everything is timestamped so you can skip straight to the segment you want to start unboxing, if you buy the Oppo Find N2, you will get this fancy box and you can See our unboxing in the top right corner.

devices. They often require adhesives and there is simply no way. around unless you want your case to slide around. I won't talk much about the chipset as this phone uses the Snapdragon 8 plus gen 1 and you already know how amazing this chipset really is. You can play games on this phone, but you will keep it. The gameplay or usability part in the last segment of this video. Now I will talk about the cameras first.

It's tuned by Hasselblad and there are a total of three different cameras available and I'll just show you all the images I saw. I've taken the course of a week of using this phone, this Oppo Find N2 also uses the same Murray Silicon . This image of the pink flower is saturated to the point where even the edges of the flower's petals have disappeared. The night shots on this phone though look exceptionally good except for the telephoto camera that couldn't capture the tree leaves properly. So the design of the Oppo Find N2 looks completely different from the Galaxy z44 as it is shorter and wider which changes the entire user experience.

The slim N2 is also much slimmer thanks to the second-generation flexible hinge. Oppo says this hinge allows for a slimmer, lighter design with a nearly invisible fold and that's because it drops in a teardrop shape at the fold point, which also creates a larger turning radius, reducing stress at the folding point. We have a hinge that also locks into place and we have a range of 45 to 125 degrees to choose from, and Oppo calls it flex mode. Basically, this flexible mode is an

oppo

site version of Samsung's Flex mode which we will also

review

later. The strange thing is that both speakers of the Oppo Find N2 are pointing downwards, does it really matter?

Well, we will also talk about this in the last segment of this video, before we get ahead of ourselves, let's talk about the screens starting with the cover screen. It is using a 5.54-inch display with a very standard display. aspect ratio of 17.7 by 9 with a resolution of 2120 by 1080 pixels and can also reach a refresh rate of 120 hz once we unfold the device we have a 7.1 inch screen with a resolution of 1792 by 1920 pixels and the maximum refresh rate is also at 120 hertz, but the aspect ratio is 14 by 15. And if you did the math, this is actually very close to a true Square display and we'll talk about this in the video segment later because it really affects usability. of this phone, using our color meter we test the color accuracy, so with 100 brightness needs, the cover screen is quite good, although the Delta e number is quite high and for the unfolded screen we divide it into three parts: left right and center where the fold line is surprisingly, the color accuracy is also remarkably consistent across all three segments, even the Delta e number is also consistent, then we test the maximum brightness, the cover screen has a bright maximum of approximately 480 nits, so displayed screen may vary slightly.
Over 500 nits, but not consistent across the screen as I found the brightness drops as you get to the right side of the screen, which adds about 500 brightness needs, although not enough for outdoor use , especially when it's sunny. This is where I want to take my hat off to Samsung because the Galaxy z44 has a maximum brightness of over 750 nits for both the cover screen and the unfolded screen and that is unparalleled in the

smartphone

market in general and as a quick mention. Although the gaping black hole in the top left corner of the Oppo Financial's screen is also quite distracting, I also want to quickly highlight the battery life before continuing.
Calibrated to 100 brightness needs, the Oppo Find N2 cover screen can last. for about 12 hours, while the unfolded screen can last about 10 hours and 35 minutes and is actually quite similar to the battery life of the Galaxy Z4 Force. Well, now we move on to the software. This Oppo Find N2 comes with Color OS 13, which is running on Android 13. Our Oppo Find N2 unit is from China, so it does not have Google Play Store out of the box, however, it has all the service dependencies. Google installed, so you can only install Play Store. app and then everything works perfectly, this is where I will also compare it with the Galaxy Z4 to get a lot more because most of the features available on the Find M2 are also similar on the Galaxy z44 and the N2 fine also has a settings menu added

better

. because all the related folding functions are in one menu, which I think is really good, it makes changing settings, especially for new users, much easier and also digestible since we can go through everything in that one menu and then you can have it look more or less perfect as you want it to be, but unfortunately this is where the Oppo Find N2 falls short because there are not many special features that are well made to take advantage of the foldable foam factor and this.
It's where we're going to have to talk about the big segment of this video, which is usability, no joke. From the moment I unboxed this device, I immediately tested the hinge and it felt amazing. The smoothness of the hinge makes opening and closing this device much easier.

better

and with that less noticeable crease, although yes, it looks and feels much better compared to the Galaxy z44. What's even better is that Define N2 is slimmer when closed and leaves no gaps thanks to the teardrop folding design and that means I don't have to clean up all the dust and lint every time I want to use the device. however, set speaker N2 as they both point downwards, going back to the same question I just asked, does it really matter?
I think so, but not in the way you expect, we have to talk about the unfolded screen first, since the aspect ratio is 14 by 15, technically it is 0.933, which is very close to one and that means absolute squareness for viewing videos or play games using the displayed screen. in portrait or landscape mode it doesn't really matter because the difference is very small since it has an almost square shape, on the cover screen, although it is much wider than the Galaxy z44, but this is where I think it is more or less like a double edged sword because yes, I prefer the cover screen of the Oppo Find N2 because I can see more, but the whiteness is doubled when you unfold the screen, which makes the unfolded screen almost square and by the way, from the cover screen.
It is so wide that it is also almost impossible to use it with one hand and I must say that after testing both phones I prefer the cover screen to be somewhere between these two phones, the Galaxy z44 is too lanky but the N2 is too stubby . for the unfolded screen, although I honestly much prefer the Galaxy Z4 more, but the reasons are a little more nuanced if you select apps like Twitter and Facebook to use full screen mode, then it will be difficult to view much content without scrolling at all. However, it's even more evident on the Oppo 5n2 because the almost square screen means that the top and bottom of the screen will be taken up by the app's UI, without leaving much room for content.
Instagram is particularly problematic because if I lock the app to a 16x9 or 4x3 aspect ratio, then I'm going to lose some space between these two phones, that's for sure, but it's exceptionally more significant on the N2's almost square screen. I had a brief conversation with a friend who is also reviewing the Oppo. Find N2 also and stated that shooting games like Cod Mobile cannot be played using full screen mode because the field of view or field of view is significantly cropped, then the half-fold folding mode Samsung calls it the mode flexible, while Oppo calls it the flexible way.
They both literally mean the same thing and the

oppo

site hinge has a wider angle to select from, but software integration isn't enough. I would say that by default you can leave the phone half open and then this menu will appear. Then you can swipe to select. which apps you want to use, which ones we only have camera and calculation apps supported as of now, the camera UI is familiar to you if you have used the Galaxy Z4 Force camera in Flex mode before and we also have the usual option to use the cover screen as a selfie view

find

er and there is also an option to change the position of the viewfinder between the top half and bottom half of the screen once we press the shutter button, although I think Samsung's execution here is a lot better in terms of integration, it has a segment to show the photo we just took and we can also touch the image to enter the gallery, then in the gallery app we now have a touch panel so we can scroll to the previous image or next and even double tap to zoom if I want to do that, however on Oppo Financial it just opens the normal Gallery app without any special integration with flex4 mode.
I think this is just a huge missed opportunity for Oppo. One important feature that Oppo Find N2 doesn't have is the taskbar. I have no idea why Oppo just didn't integrate it or include it since they are using Android 13 anyway which should have all the features of Android 12l and that means yes, the taskbar should have been there too, they just have to access the API without the taskbar, multitasking on the Oppo Find N2 just feels like a bigger phone, that's all and before we're done , I also need to talk about a few more things, the Oppo Find N2 has no IP rating and doesn't even have wireless charging which to me is a strange exclusion, but the Oppo Find N2 has HDMI output as it uses a USB 3.0 type c port high speed, so overall I think the Oppo Find N2 has phenomenal hardware, especially the hinge.
The aspect ratio of the cover screen is definitely up for debate as I prefer something taller than the fine end tool but not as tall as the default 4 and I personally also find the almost square unfolded screen to be a little difficult to use and grip. For one, I still don't know if Oppo will sell this phone anywhere else in the world because, according to Android authorities, the global launch of the Oppo Find N2 is still under discussion. I really hope this phone reaches other parts of the world. the world too because yes, the world needs more than just Samsung foldables and more competition is always better, but I think that's it, this is a long video, bye, I'm done, yes, I think this is our last reveal for the year 2022 too.
Is it the real one, not the gaming phone?
