. I know it's the sexiest of all home and interior design topics. It was obviously sarcasm. I feel like some people. Don't get my sarcasm and I need a little sarcasm meter on them, chances are if you're in doubt it's sarcasm. Okay, that's how I do it, so let's work with it, but you know, listen, you might like home organization, maybe you're one. of these people on Tik Tok that I see that take everything they know, like ice cube trays and they have different shaped ice cubes and some have little lemon heels and some have a little bit of orange blossom and little roses if that is you, this video probably isn't for you because you're so far out of the deep end of the H organization that there's nothing I'm going to tell you that's going to be interesting or that you haven't thought about before because you're obviously a little crazy, that It's not like that, this video is not for you.

Okay, before we get into those

organizing

tips, I want to take a It's time to thank today's sponsor, which is Brook Linen, one of my favorite brands that has sponsored me many times, who I love, and is having a sale right now. of the 10th anniversary I've been partnering with Brooklyn since about 2021, so almost three. years, which is really crazy to me, but I continue to partner with them because I really love their product and well, they are products that I can say I use every day. I have to say that the Linen Hardcore cream set is probably my favorite book.

Ready, I had cotton and linen and I was completely converted to linen. The fabric is so lightweight and cozy and honestly gets softer with each wash. What I also love about torn linen is that it offers luxury sheets at a more affordable price than what you get at different retailers. You also know that you are making a smart investment by purchasing those sheets because they will last a long time and get softer the more you wash them, which I love. Whether you're a long-time Brooklyn supporter like me or this is

your

first time hearing about them, this is the perfect time to head to Brooklyn and take advantage of their 10th Anniversary Sale, all items are 25% off discount on the entire site and you get up. up to 45% off different packages until May 6, it's the biggest sale of the year, so you won't want to miss it.

Thank you Brooklyn for sponsoring this video and let's get back to those organizing tips. Okay, first tip for you for a local organization. It's going to be hiding countertop appliances or honestly putting things away that you don't use daily or at least every 2 or 3 days this is hard but sometimes you know when I roast mypace which is another feature to do here I'm behind I need to do one of those soon where people send presentations of what they want to change in their

house

the number one thing I see all the time in the kitchen is a bunch of appliances that we're Honestly, let's face it, now you're not using every day.
I love it if you're using your Magic Bullet and you're sitting there, your Vitamix and you're drinking a big green smoothie every day and you're like H. I drink three. liters of green smoothie every morning before breakfast and I don't even drink coffee like that's good for you but I don't think it is because I don't think most people live that way if so keep it out. If you use it every day, do it, but consider hiding the things you don't use all the time so you know what happens if you use a neutral bullet once every 3 or 4 days or that juicer you bought that is collecting dust, maybe you don't. you do.
It is not necessarily necessary to place it on the countertop. Consider putting away things you don't use on a daily basis. Keep your countertops tidy and only restrict them to things you and your family use regularly. so salt and pepper is fine, maybe you cook with olive oil every meal, in which case go ahead and find an ideally aesthetic place to put your little olive oil. I have this cute little one here at the H&M

house

because it's just me, but as you know, find a place for you to put the things you're going to use regularly.
I think it's okay again if you can do even better, but consider just at the basic level putting away things you don't actually use. use it all the time, so if you're like a person who eats toast, you know, once every few days, consider saving it if you have your instant pot, you know we all buy it, we all get it during the pandemic, if you have the air fryer . we all have that one too I love a niche specialty kitchen appliance, it's my favorite thing, sorry, I'll buy every single one of them. I have a sous.
I have the fryer as if I had one. I bought an egg. The other day, why did I do that? I don't even know, but I did it and I love this stuff. I love niche appliances, but they don't need to be displayed because they're not pretty and honestly, it just adds to the clutter and chaos that's already in your kitchen, you know, so if you see these beautiful aesthetic spots and think, how do they do that? They do it because they save the garbage they don't use. all the time, so tip number one is to look at the things you use daily, consider how you can store and display them, that's fine because you use them regularly, but consider hiding the rest, so if you have, maybe you know things that Use it all the time Maybe you already know that it doesn't necessarily have to apply only to the kitchen Think about what's going on in the living room Do you use a candle every day because you like the aroma? use things in the bedroom that you use every day, we're not going to talk about that, but let's say you use those things regularly, in which case feel free to say, we're going a different route here.
I'm just going to say a book, maybe you've read a book, so in that case, read that book and keep it on your screen, that's fine, even then consider saving it. You know what I mean? Put away the things you don't use. all the time I'm going to leave it while I'm in my head we're just going to say okay next on my list is going to be closed storage so for this one I'm a broken record because you know I'm all About this, my mission is not to delete open storage, but at least I like an open shelf, but at least using it for what I think it's meant to be using and displaying things that are actually really nice.
Chances are, most of what you have isn't all that attractive. Someone had to tell you because your friends aren't doing you any favors. You know what I mean, like you're showing things that aren't particularly attractive and again, attractiveness is subjective, so if you like it, do it, you're like looking back, you're like, but those books are ugly, good for you, I don't care what you think, you don't have to like my watch, I really don't care and yes, it's always perpetually 1218 where I live in case you're wondering, you know it's okay, you don't have to like them the things that I like and I don't have to like the things that you like, that's fine, consider the things that are.
It's not very attractive to you and you think about hiding it because really open shelving is great for adding personality, for adding things that you really enjoy, that you want to display, that you want to look at all the time, that you use all the time, like I just did. mentioned c.1, you know, feel free to put it in open storage. I think it's okay, things like cookbooks, things like maybe you have something from you la Cruse that you really love, that you say, yeah, I want to show this maybe. you're a St. girl. I don't know which side of the fence you're on, but you know, pick one and then feel free to show it off, have fun, that's cool, but you know you have a lot of ugly things and that's okay because I like that too be functional and we need it and that's fine, in which case consider hiding it behind some fabric storage.
I think that really makes the place feel a lot less chaotic, it's going to make it feel a lot calmer because it's not adding to the visual clutter that's in your space, that's what it all comes down to is knowing that you're going to feel a lot better, your space. It will feel lighter and it will feel much more Zen. Being in it, you will enjoy living in the space and yes, assuming you remember all the things where you put them, you can access all those things that you know appropriately when you need them, which is really for what they are there, so dressed.
In my opinion, storage, as everyone knows, is underrated in people's homes. Well, the next step will be to create drop zones in your space for the things you love and your own habits that you already have because I learned this as part of the wisdom of aging. I can convey to you, as I'm sure you've all shared, that people don't change as much as we do, we're always looking for that path of resistance to renting, so I think sometimes when people start out with an organization plan for their home , they say, "You know what this new me is." The old Mei was a pile of trash, but the new me.
G, she and him just have it together. Do you know how the new me is going? being as good as Nick in the future really has it all together, guys, Nick in the present is a mess. Nick from the past who cares about Nick in the future, although like he has it all like he knows what he is doing, but the reality is that the Nick of the future will be the same as the Nick of the present, the same person who is sitting here on your laptop right now, you know what I mean, it's going to be the same person, so let's work on the behavior.
You already have such good examples of this it would be like when you walk in the front door where do you put your keys where do you put your keys where do you put your wallet we all have the cell phone wallet keys sunglasses lipstick like us We have all the things we need when we leave home every time. Consider placing them in a space with a closed door, ideally, but if not, you won't remember that's okay too. You know, look for a little place that's going to be ideally aesthetic, ideally enclosed, but again, if you don't know, you know you're not going to find it because you might forget where you're putting things.
That's okay, you can keep it open if you need to, but ideally it's aesthetic. A small place where you can just work regularly with what you have, don't necessarily think that the new you will like to store your shoes and you will like to put them in your little organization. your room in your dressing room or something because you want to be that person with the super beautiful dressing room, if that's not you and you're like me, you just throw your shoes when you walk in the front door, then the ideal is to separate take it off and have a little place for it, so if you're the person that just walks in and drops your coat like in the front hallway, then try to find a coat rack that's beautiful and that's going to be functional and that's where you're actually going to put your coat because we all like it.
Thinking that we're going to be this person who is amazing and has it all together, but we're not so basically working with the behavior patterns that you already have and then designing the organizational solution that fits that behavior in the bedroom is another great example, so if you're a person that takes off your clothes or puts on whatever and you just end up like throwing it on the elliptical machine or that pelaton that you're still paying the subscription for by the way and if you just want to throw it on the pelaton and then you're like, oh right, I'd probably like to hang it up or whatever, so maybe design a solution that makes sense to you, maybe put it on a really nice shelf, maybe put up a new organization system where you can put your clothes, that works with what what you already do it's throwing it on something throwing it on the bed throwing it on the pelaton find a place where you can throw it that will actually keep you organized in the long run because you like to think that you're going to be this person hangs everything but you no, you're just not that girl.
Sorry, I hate to be the one to tell you that, but it's time for you to tell yourself and own it because that's who you are and that's okay, just work. with what you have, not what you want is good next on my list will be to pin your elements, so there are two reasons why I think you should do that, first of all, what do I mean by pin elements?, I I mean finding places where I can put trays or containers or things that will hold multiple items at once. I have them everywhere in my place.
You can probably see them in the background. Books are a really great way to do this. The trays like the ones I have back here. another tray here things in the kitchen things in the hall closetfront H like I have a lot of spaces where I put little trays or little books that kind of provide a sort of base for other things, whether it's displayed, whether it's something like decoration. or even something like a storage container that will hold your keys and coins and any ChapSticks and cell phones, all those things that you're going to need, so it's strictly for organization or it could even be for displaying beautiful things in decor . and the reason is that it provides, first of all, it's aesthetically pleasing, it provides a kind of nice platform for everything else to sit on, it's something similar, so generally 99% of the time I recommend that people buy rugs .
I really hate it when I walk in. a place that has hardwood, concrete, vinyl plank, whatever and there's no carpet, it's like you just feel floating in space and it doesn't feel like you're really grounded or centered and that's why carpets are really cool because they ground the living room. so you have the couch, the coffee table, the side chairs, all of those things really grounded in that space. The same rule applies to grounding the rest of your stuff, so maybe it's in the kitchen and you have a cookbook or your olive oil, your salt and pepper, you have all that stuff, consider putting it in, you know , aesthetically in some type of tray, maybe you have items that you use regularly, again, those keys, those things in the front, the whole organization, a type of area, maybe it's things in your bedroom, maybe. it's your bathroom maybe it's all like lipstick and you've got all that oh my gosh all the cosmetics if you've got all this absolutely chaotic stuff everywhere, providing a sort of snapshot of everything that's going to help the floor. all those elements so they're not scattered all over the place, it will help anchor it, it will be much more visually beautiful and it has the added advantage of this being the second part that limits you and provides that kind of Base. limit to what you can actually put in that space, so when you have no limit, let's say bathroom vanity, just when you have no limit, things can get chaotic, things can get out of control because your mind thinks back along the way. towards leak resistance, there is no anchor point for everything, I have this whole counter to put all this junk on and you will fill it and that's why your bathroom can feel a little disorganized and overwhelming now if you put a tray, a Kind of a reasonably sized tray to put things on.
Like, for example, perfumes or whatever, or you have that bathroom vanity stuck in some kind of cloth system that you can put your toothpaste or your toothbrush and your floss and all that stuff in there, you provides a natural limit so you don't necessarily want to expand beyond that limit, so it limits the number of things you're going to do and then from there, the things you don't use on a regular basis c.1 that you can actually store in a closed storage system, see how all these tips work together, this is really what it's all about, it's about working with the behavior you already have, putting natural limits on how much stuff you're actually going to display, storing everything you does not use every day.
Ideally in the nearby storage system, that's where we're good and then next we also have to talk about investing in organizers. The organizers are really important. This is what often happens, when I make a sense of home video or an Ikea video, I usually take a few. It's time to talk about the really unappealing things about home organizers because I'm still advocating for the fact that baskets, small trays, and containers are like part of the home decor world, even if people don't want to. It's not like it's not as fun as making fun of poor quality artwork or ugly pillows, I assure you, I love that too, you know me, but the truth is that a large part of our life is how to organize all these stuff, we all have too many, bonus tip, feel free. to get rid of some things, but for the things you have, organize them, it's like my point above, it will give you a kind of natural boundary so that you can enjoy having the container that you have. the container to work with because if you don't have boundaries across a container or a tray, things start to overflow and start to get out of control, it also becomes more aesthetically pleasing because things in containers just keep you organized, it seems cohesive because you can buy the same container, you can buy a whole organization system, feel free to invest in different ones that Ikea makes, for example, they're really known for this, they're really amazing at home organization things.
Cute wicker baskets will always be cute. You know the plastic ones are fine too. There are many different ones. If you have trouble seeing. You know in the baskets. Feel comfortable using something like an acrylic. You know it might make sense to you. Ideally. You know the aesthetics. These are the ones you're probably going to display the most and enjoy seeing the most, but if that doesn't really matter to you because you're storing them in a Clos storage system, just go with the ones that actually do. It's easy for you to identify what you need and that will really help you organize your life so that your home becomes much more functional because yes, on this channel you know this channel and in interior design we love to talk about aesthetics because that's really fun and it's interesting, but the truth is that a lot of the practical aspects of living in our spaces and you know, being in these homes that we love is staying organized and having access to the usual things that we use all the time, so that It's for today's video I hope you enjoyed this one a lot.
I'll see you all in the next one. Thanks Brooklyn again for sponsoring this video and feel free to sign up for the inside scoop if you haven't already because it got a little sexy. tips there and see you in the next video thank you very much bye
