Jessica Simpson on Pressures of Losing Weight, Filters: ‘I Looked Like Everyone Else in Hollywood’

You may not remember this, but many moons ago, about 20 years ago, you were the guest judge at Star Search. I was the up-and-coming comedian and you gave me five stars and that started my career. Yes, thanks. Oh my gosh, Jessica, wow, call. your manager, you deserve ten percent, you have to do this, you are the business tycoon, listen there are so many celebrations, meetings and also the fact that you celebrated an important milestone that you shared through social media and that you missed , I don't think so, okay, a hundred quid crazy crazy and you received such an outpouring of love and support, how did you do it?

Let's start there. Well, it took three years. Wow, that's the healthy way, although I always call it determined patience. Yes, I believe in setting small goals. um because in my life and how I've done it, I mean, there are easy ways to throw in the towel and feel like it's impossible um, so the little goals for me are what helped me achieve the main goal: being in a bikini. It was never My main goal, I mean, I did that when I was 20, but like when and I literally brought swimsuits on that trip without trying on a bikini because I thought I was just going to be in one piece, so when I put those on two- I got so excited and thought I did this, oh it happened so it was like in the moment and I wanted to share it with

everyone

because I was so proud of myself for doing what sometimes seemed completely impossible um and you.

Know that I have lost 100 pounds three times I definitely gained a lot of

weight

in my pregnancies I celebrate the pregnancy but this last pregnancy was very difficult for me I don't know if it was because I was older and the hormones and all kinds of things right, woo birdie games you had to enduring body shaming since you started your career and now as a mother of three you are still subject to negativity about your

weight

, how do you handle the comments? You know, I have to know that I wasn't. I didn't post that for those people, but I posted it for the people who are on their journey and who haven't given up and who want to give up but need that extra push and know what I'm talking about.

I wanted to share my journey with people because it was fun, all I could do was know that it was momentarily and that you are your journey, Jessica, in the moment that your journey is, you are an image for discipline and focus. I can't lose that kind of weight without it, so I'm wondering what your message is for women and other moms who struggle with body image. Well, I think if

everyone

knows themselves, they will like themselves more instead of aspiring. for perfection to look like someone

else

, um, but if you know, if we praise our unique features and qualities, you know, like I never got my nose done or I never had braces for my butt teeth, you know, I like those that For some people they are defects. and they filter me.

I look crazy. I tried to make an Instagram filter the other day and I thought, "Oh my God, because you can choose different makeup." I've never done all those things, but my daughter does and I say. oh god, there has to be a healthy balance here because she sees herself as so grown up and she likes all this makeup and so different and how do I tell her it's just for fun? You know, that doesn't make you look better than yourself. Does it just make you look different? All makeup filter. All those things. I look literal.

Well, I don't look crazy. I just look like everyone in Beverly Hills, and despite what you were facing, you pioneered a brand that includes sizes for all women. Looking and feeling good, what inspired you to create the brand and did you think it would become this success? No, I had no idea it would be as successful as it has been and that you could own it and like it. Being in my shoes like with my brand and knowing that I can accompany people with confidence is simply the most rewarding thing in the world and yes, I had to make inclusive sizes because I had all the sizes that I deserved, I deserved to be able to wear a crop top of any size, so I thought we had to do this for everyone, you can't leave anyone out.
