3 DIY DOLLAR TREE FARMHOUSE CHRISTMAS BUFFALO CHECK PROJECTS

Mar 24, 2024
Hello everyone, welcome back to my channel, it's windy today. We're doing three Dollar Tree DIYs for Christmas and it's a little bit of a long video but I hope you like it so let's get started with our first wreath project. to decorate it with these lamb ear stems that I bought at Walmart for $4 and some Buffalo plaid ribbon that I bought at Hobby Lobby for half price, so it's $5. I always buy these 14 inch wreath shapes at Dollar Tree because you never know when I'll need them and I ended up not using any of these adorable ornaments but they are both from Dollar Tree but I like to keep my options open.

This is a fuzzy material, like a felt, but it has some texture to it. I used it for a Halloween costume for one of the kids a long time ago, a jute twine glue gun and some scissors and the first thing we're going to do is wrap our wreath shape just making sure because it's a scrap piece that already I had enough. and I just used the glue gun and hot glued the edges all around. I made it in a 12 o'clock, 6 o'clock, 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock pattern so it fits snugly and stays really secure, you want to get rid of the excess fabric so I cut it off after realizing that It was the right size and I would have enough, so I'm just going to hot glue it all over, so once it's all nice and secure, you're going to make a hole right in the middle and cut it out so you have enough to fold inside and just go through the same process.

Now this fabric is somewhat flexible, so I could have left it. or you know, I stretched it over the ends, but I wanted to make sure it didn't tear, so I cut some notches and then hot glued it around. My daughter and I were at t.j.maxx and saw a crown. that was pretty similar to this, it was a lot prettier but it had the same effect so I was trying to come up with the same idea and it was $30.00 and I knew I didn't want to pay that so I thought I could create something. similar and for much less, so I started embellishing with Lamb's ear and just glued it on.

I like the front sides of the leaves to show through, so sometimes I cut them out and then just turn them over and hot glue them back together. so that the pretty side is facing up, so before I put the other side I want to make my bow so I know where I'm going to place that lamb air and I hope you don't get bored of looking at me. Make these bows every time, but it's just the layering effect where you just roll it over itself. I make three loops on each side and then gather it up by pinching it in the middle and then tie it with a piece of jute. yarn and then I'll fluff it and give the dovetails on the ends now if you notice I accidentally only made two loops on each side so I ended up making another one that had the right number of loops now that I've put my other side of the greenery and I have it in the right place.

I decided to use these bells from Dollar Tree and I removed the greenery and I wanted them to look a little more detailed so I grabbed my black paint. A pen and I bought it at Walmart and I just went around the edges and you don't have to do this if you don't like the look of the polish. Turns out I really love it and it gives it some definition so you can see the different lines and I just did that for both bells and then I'll hang them in the middle of the wreath. This is a silky cord that I think came out as a sleeping bag or something I don't remember but I always keep.
This comes in handy at some point, so I'll just tie a knot at the top of the Bell and then set it aside, do the same with the other one and then use the greenery that came on top of the Bell. I dismantled it and removed the burlap and then glued it to one of the bells. I ended up moving it, but you'll see it in a second, but this is what it's going to look like and to get the location I'll end up pasting it. Those together, but first I wanted to get the height right, so before putting on the bow, I placed the cord where I wanted the bells so I could measure how far I wanted them to hang so it would be noticeable but not too noticeable. low or too high, so that's what I'm doing here, so now that I've got everything figured out as far as placement, I'm going to go ahead and glue everything together and secure it.
I attached the two bills together and there was like a flat spot where it worked well to make it stick well and then I added the greenery to a bail and then I took a piece of Buffalo

check

tape and I'm sorry it's off camera but I just did a little knot in it in the middle and I hot glued it to the top of the other bail and then I got the length right and I secured it to the top and I made it permanent and then I took some of these twigs that I had and I just I glued three on each side to give it a little shine and I think it was the perfect touch.
You can get them every year for Christmas at Walmart. The sticks now come in different colors and some of them are super curly at the end and unit type. You go crazy when you work with them, but I think it turned out really nice and we had just the right amount of shine and shine and I love it, you know, REITs don't have to be just for the door and you can use them. anywhere, so I'm trying to give you an idea of different options and places you can place them. The two

tree

s I made in a previous DIY and I'll link that video too, but I think the whole vignette shows.
Really pretty for my Christmas decor, so the next item we're going to make is kind of a wall banner that you could use as a wreath even if you wanted to, so the first thing I did was remove the painter's tape and the masking. the two pieces of wood that are at the top and bottom because I want to keep those black, as you know we're going to keep the black and white color theme and in this case the red color, so I'm going to go in with my White Chalk Paint Waverly and I painted the entire canvas and it took me about two coats, but all you want to do is make sure you can't see the letters anymore and go all the way and over the edges.
From the canvas for both layers, I made sure to go in the same direction, going up and down, so that everything stayed in the same direction and while the white was still quite wet, I took some Waverly chalk paint in the mineral color and I added with some Apple Barrel black chalk paint and put them together and then I just gave it some vertical stripes because we're going to distress it and it blends because the white paint is still wet and then After we get a good coverage, like you see here, we're going to give a final step of whitening it with more white on top, so once you have the texture you want and the lightness, I'll add. this door that I bought at Dollar Tree is actually an ornament and I'm going to use my Silhouette Cameo three to cut out the words home for the holidays and a lot of you have been asking me what font I'm using and I don't remember the name of this one but I I'll link in the description box below but I get the free fonts from dafont.com it's da fo and T com so here it is cut out on the vinyl and I'm I'm going to cut them all out so I can work in my location so this is how I'm going to lay them out and then I'm going to get some transfer tape and lay it down.
I sure have enjoyed everyone's comments and advice on what to do and I learned that Dollar Tree has the clear contact paper and I will be using it from now on as soon as I get some, so thank you all so much for letting me know. I appreciate that, but you just want to focus. the words where you want them and then place them one by one thanks to everyone's tips and tricks. Can you figure it out? I'm getting better at placing the words, so now I'm taking that ornament and it has a cute wreath on the door. but I think I can make it a little healthier, so I took a piece of greenery from some random piece I had and just wrapped it up and made it a little fluffier.
I just cut off some of the loose threads there and made it a little bit flatter on the back so it sticks to the door and then the little bow needs a little help too, but I just added a little bow of jute twine behind to give it more definition and interest and it's

buffalo

plaid, so I knew that. I wanted to include that, now I'm just going to take some berries and add them from a

dollar

tree

Christmas twig and then I'm going to stick them to the top of the door and I think it's really cute since this is an ornament.
I can see there are a couple of holes at the top of the door so I wanted to disguise that and using some jute twine I made three wraps around the top and bottom and then just glued it to the back and then measured where I wanted to attach it doesn't have to be perfect, but I guess it's something I like to do and I wanted the door to open a little bit, so using some backing tape, double sided foam tape, I just attached it. on the back of the door and lifted it up enough so you can see a shadow and then I removed the painter's tape and she was ready for some embellishments so for the bow I'm going to use this burlap ribbon from the Dollar Tree with polka dots and I had I have to add a little white.
It has some small black details at the end of this tape. I just keep the tape. I have a ton of tapes like you wouldn't believe and I just wanted to give them to you. Another detail to coordinate with the colors of the canvas so I wrapped it and made the bow, tied it in the middle with a piece of jute twine and then placed it on top so you can see it's a little big and I don't want to don't have anything covering the start word at the top, so I'm going to finish it after adding this cute little gold bow to the top and going as far as you can see the word and making the loops a little bit smaller so they're not as lazy I'm doing a dovetail on all the ends and then I added some embellishments from a little fall twig, actually, but it had some red berries on it, so I just added that in the middle and then attached everything to make it like that.
I'm not covering my word, so here it is all done and posted. Hi, I'm sorry you can see my light switch, but I didn't have enough space on another wall to hang it and show it to you, but I think it turned out really nice. and I hope you like it for our final DIY. We are going to make another wreath and I was very excited about this one. We'll use that same 14-inch wreath of this plastic clothesline. I guess it's like a nylon material. This super cute truck adorns some red berries and some greenery, of course, our Hobby Lobby Buffalo

check

and if you buy this ribbon, make sure you don't pay full price because next week it will be half price just with a little paint of white chalk. some Waverly chalk paint and glue gun and you know, all the usual supplies, so first I'm going to get the rope and once you figure out where the end is, you're going to start wrapping it around the entire form and I just tucked it in . through the back and then I kind of made a slip knot to start by just putting it through that loop and then I just started wrapping it and I took my time and it took me about 20 minutes to completely wrap it completely and you'll be able to If you want to pick up two of these spools or bundles or whatever, because it took about a quarter and a half of those bundles to wrap the whole thing, when you're done, you get to the back and you just tie a knot and this is what it looks like I think it's really interesting the way it is with the red and white and although I ended up painting it with my Waverly white chalk paint, it was pretty.
I thought the red and white had a candy cane effect, but with your sponge brush, you just want to paint all the way around and I paint with the one that goes horizontally so that my brush goes with the lines of the turns of the rope and so I got into those little cracks and crevices, so now I'm going to work in my little truck and I had some scrap paper from a square scrapbook paper and using Mod Podge and a little makeup brush, not a brush but a sponge, I deconstructed the little truck and saw that there were these little nabis that were putting the fenders on, so I took them apart and then using my little cricket spatula, I removed the glitter from the plastic and once it starts it comes off pretty easily , so now I'm going to paint the plastic and the Apple Barrel black paint sticks really well. to that plastic that was under the glitter, I don't know if it's just because it's very porous or what, but it turned out really well and then I traced the fenders on that scrap paper, which I didn't have enough to go all the way in width, so I had to put it together, but after I traced the edges, I cut it and I'll actually end up putting both fenders together because I think it looks better and then I had to make the curve of the tire, so I kind of indented it with my fingernail to see where the middle, I guess it would be the hubcap and then I put the Mod Podge on the plastic, the painted plastic and then I put my paper on top and since it was so small A little piece kept moving on me so I took those nabis and glued them on the part top of my spool of tape so it would stay in place while I worked on it, so here I'm adding the other one, the front fender, here and then.
I didn't put any Mod Podge on top because I learned that it leaches andI could make it darker because of the black paint underneath, but with this I don't think you need it because it will be on the inside anyway, so here it is. where I put the other fender as a second piece so it could overlap a little bit and I think it's really nice and then I just took a white one Paint a pen to fill in the hubcap area and you probably can't see it in the video but the little portion of the hubcap sticks, so it was easy to paint right over it, so here I'm going to take my black paint. pen and I outline the little white sign and it's paint so I have to remember not to put my fingers on it so I just went all the way around and gave it a little more highlight and then taking some very low gauge wire I cut two pieces.
I ran it through the holes in the truck and then put my sign on it, but I didn't know how high I wanted it or how low I wanted it to hang, so I didn't fully secure it until I was ready to put it up. to my crown now I'm doing all this while my paint dries on the crown so I put the fenders and the little tree back on the back of the truck. I don't know if you can tell by the color. in the video or not, but it was a little bit teal and I didn't want that color so I took some Apple Barrel Green Paint and made it a little bit more evergreen color and then of course we'll make another arch and use For that flipping method, I simply made three loops on each side and then tied them with jute twine so I could attach it to the wreath.
Now I'm just taking the little tails and hot gluing them to one side so it stayed in place and I knew I wanted another one on the other side so I just took a piece of tape and cut a strip that looped the end and then I glued it on I hot glued the bow to make it look like it was attached and then I glued it down. to the wreath too and this is what it looks like now, as for embellishments, I took that excess string that was hanging down from attaching the bow to the wreath and put in this cute little black snowflake that I bought at Walmart years ago. but they still have them and then they added some greenery on both sides and then I'll add some red berries on both sides also when you're working with a rounded surface like the wreath shape sometimes you want your greenery to move with it instead of sticking out towards outside so you can just bend it to give it a curved shape and then it looks more natural as it flows with it.
I know this was funny. This is a glue battle wound. I put up a pine tree. cone in the middle but then I ended up removing it so forget it but you can't add it if you want and then I glued on my little truck after deciding how low I wanted the little sign to hang and then attached it. with that excess wire on the back and I just twisted it. I didn't like my bow. I didn't think it was full enough and you see there are some cracks right there where the plastic clothesline shrank after painting it, so there's that.
Another little tip you can do if you're not happy with the abundance of your bun, add it up and it looks like it's just one because I maneuvered the little loops to go together, but I think it turned out super pretty and I stayed. I showed them the video of the completed project and I realized I needed to add some snow, it was too stiff and too new looking so I wanted to make it less, a little more muted so I grabbed some chalk paint White Waverly and I just applied it to the greenery and the truck and I think it looks so happy and snowy and I loved it and I guess it's a boy because of the truck, I don't know but that's how it turned out and I hope you guys liked it and If you like this video, please like it.
