For me, I have always looked for challenges in life. I've always told myself that I could never sit behind a desk. It has always been about finding that thing in life that I want to push and drive because I come from the background. I started rowing when I was 13 in high school. The director told me that's what he was going to do, so I didn't argue with him, I went in there and from there I went on to the Olympics. The race in the double didn't really start as planned in the first 500 meters, we were last, we just had to stick together and trust each other from the 1500 to the finish line, we just gave absolutely everything we had locked down.

I took out anyone around us and we tried to do our best 500 and finish the race, we thought we came in third and lo and behold we had actually won Olympic gold so it was really nice for us. I definitely learned a lot about myself from that. race, you can always try harder than you think you can and you will survive. I've always been told that you faint before you die, so I'm stuck with his mentor, it's one of those things you can't do every time. but when things get tough and you really need to push yourself, you are able to do it.

The role I'm playing now is much more upper body focused. It has been much more difficult for me. but it's definitely growing and getting stronger too and that edge is getting stranger. We are fighting during a race. It's one of those things that you know never ends. The more energy we can supply to Pete, the more he can use, so knowing that We have to give one hundred percent effort at all times to give them everything we have. It's a dark, dark space you have to enter during the race, but for us to always give our best, I think winning is every Kiwi's dream. an olympic gold and every kiwi's dream is also to win the america's cup so for me i have scored some huge things and i feel very honored to have the opportunity to be able to do it so now i have that cup in new zealand and to be in the defending side to represent New Zealand in our home country in Auckland against our peers in our countrymen.

It doesn't get any better than that and it also gives you that extra push to be able to push yourself and compete harder. fight for it and keep it
