Capitol Rioters Tell Judges That Tucker Carlson's Edited Footage Exonerates Them

Mar 21, 2024
As almost everyone expected. Some of the attorneys for those accused of the Capitol riot have begun using Tucker Carlson's selectively

edited

footage

of the events of January 6 to try to argue not only that their clients are innocent, but that some of

them

the Last weekend they even went so far as to file motions to dismiss the cases against their clients from the Capitol riots arguing that the images of Tucker Carlson have somehow exonerated

them

. Now, on Sunday, in one particular case, prosecutors responded by basically saying, "This is the dumbest thing we've ever heard." But this is what is happening.

And in fact, there's quite a bit going on right now with the so-called Proud Boys, people who are awaiting trial. His lawyers were the ones who tried to have it dismissed, arguing that the recent images of the so-called qan non shaman, Jacob Chanley, who, by the way, did plead guilty and was sentenced to 41 months, but they said video of Chanley. walking around, without causing a disturbance at the time, shows that he was clearly innocent. So all these other people are innocent, so the cases have to be dismissed. Now, the judge has not officially ruled as of right on whether or not he will dismiss the case.

Um, I have to imagine that no judge hearing that argument would dismiss the case based on those standards. In fact, that argument is actually very stupid. I'm almost surprised the lawyers even made it to court. This is why. Let's say, let's take a hypothesis here. Let's say you are a defense attorney and your client has been accused of murdering three people and you have video

footage

of your client at birthday parties. You know, Eaton's cake and singing happy birthday. You know, you have pictures of them on vacation at the beach with their family. They are happy, they are not murdering anyone in the images.

It is clear that my client cannot be a murderer because he does not murder in all the videos you see of him. I mean, that's the same argument that these lawyers for these Capitol Rio defendants just made. Well, because there are images of them, not of the Capitol riots. Clearly, the other evidence that shows there was a riot is that you have to rule it out because look, here's one, she went to the bathroom to relieve herself. That's not illegal. Now, the problem here, and I love it, because again, I have some sympathy for these lawyers for the so-called capital troublemakers.

By the way, you can't call them that unless they've been convicted. But they don't have much to work with, so they're hanging on to Straws. Then you have the only argument I already talked about. But here's the other thing I think they've forgotten. By pointing to the footage that Tucker Carlson has, you will see that his mere presence in the building is criminal. It is illegal for them to be in that building. It was illegal for them to be inside the building that day. That is trespassing on federal property. I mean, you can't, even that is something you can be prosecuted for.
So how can you point to this footage and say, well, well, you know, they're not beating the police officers in this footage, so clearly you have to let them go? No, actually you don't. If anything, you may end up charging more people you didn't know were in the building because you didn't have footage on them, which is why Tar Tucker Carlson is released. Sorry, it was a little difficult to say. But do you see what I'm saying? Being in the building that day was illegal. All the other things that they did, you know, depending on the severity of the

capitol

, the

rioters

are what led to different charges.
But many people were charged simply for being in that building. So arguing in any way that Tucker Carlson's footage

exonerates

anyone is stupid because, if anything, it implicates more people. And as I said on Ring of Fire a couple of days ago, I hope the Department of Justice turns this around and uses the footage Carlson has released to charge more people with trespassing on federal property. That's what I want you to do. I want this to have such a dramatic effect against Tucker Carlson by sending more of these people to jail for trespassing on federal property.
And I hope that if they do that when they get arrested, they let them know that this is because of the Tucker Carlson footage. That's what should happen. But in the meantime, as I said, the judge has not yet ruled on whether or not he will dismiss this specific case. But I have to imagine it's not going to work out so well, especially considering the fact that just because you're not rioting in a single piece of footage doesn't mean all the other evidence against you suddenly doesn't matter. That's a silly argument for any lawyer to make.
