World's Largest Coin Spinner

Mar 24, 2024
This is a machine that makes you spin a

coin

better than any human. And this is a giant version of the same machine that can spin huge

coin

s and possibly even a £125 manhole cover. Take care of your fingers. Now, why would you need a machine to help you spin coins? It's because most people are very bad at spinning coins. Go. Good. 2 seconds. It's not that easy. As a test, I asked ten random strangers of all ages to spin a coin while I timed it. And these were the results. As you can see, when you average their times, it falls to an average of 6 seconds.

And yet, with coin roulette, you get a solid 14 seconds every time. And to show how cool coin roulette really is, today we're having a little competition at Crunch Labs. And for that, I'm joined by two lovely assistants, my nephew Ty and my nephew Beckham. Welcome, Ty. Hello. Welcome Beckham Hello. You may recognize these two from some of my previous videos. What was the first video you were in that you remember? I think the watermelon one. Let's play that clip and show how adorable they used to be. So what else were you up to, Ty? Snowball machine gun.

More Interesting Facts About,

Did I shoot you with that? Yes. Ha ha. So what's next? Shoot me in the big Nerf gun video. Nerf gun? Beckham I feel like I have shot you less. You have thrown me into many pools. Roll it. I threw you into the Orbees pool. And my pants fell off. They dropped their pants. Where else did I throw you? In the sand jacuzzi. You're the one I tried to drown in the sand, right? Yes. Yes. Poor, classic Beckham. Well, well, let's have a little competition. I have two boxes of crunchlabs here. That's your boys. We have 20 minutes to put it together.

May the best engineer win. The clock starts. Ah ah Look at it, NOW! Come on, come on, come on Now when every Crunchlabs box there are actually two coin

spinner

s to build. That way you can use this type of beyblades arena and face off. So while my nephews knew we were going to face each other, what they didn't know was that I wasn't building just a normal coin roulette wheel. So after the build time expired, it was time for our showdown and the big reveal. Alright, idiots. Classic Uncle Mark, everyone raise your coin on him. Okay, we're going to do the big one versus the small one, but I'll let you choose which one you want.

Do you want this? Wait wait wait. Is that the currency? Yes. When there is more mass on the outside. Yes, it has more energy to keep spinning. That one has all the dough on the outside while our weak ones have it spread out. distributed among, like, apples. WOW! Beckham awesome. That's a big brain, Beckham. I didn't ask him to say that he's actually talking about the original disc thrower instructional video, which we'll play right now. If you look into the distance, this apple moves in a rotation. It is so far. Whereas with this apple, when I do a rotation, it travels this entire distance.
When it comes to rotation, mass location matters. So knowing that, what do you want? You go for the big mom. Great mom. Alright, you guys have to help me drag it there, okay. Come on, Tyyyyy I got it! Well, here we go. One two three. Before I pull the trigger, I want to point out that while this is the final look of coin roulette, the road to get here was very winding and filled with a ton of failed prototypes. As the lead toy designer at CrunchLabs, Mason is shown here. It was more like a rapid-fire coin roulette wheel.
This was the first direction you would stack the coins. If you're lucky, you'll be able to spend five or six coins in five or six seconds. This one was even crazier, a six-shot

spinner

. And this is where we start to get into the actual firing mechanism, which is this lever that you would pull back. And somehow we took a direction. That was new and optimized for that one turn. We started moving on to Ratchets, making it the final variation, and now we're getting a little closer to where we actually ended up. Good job. You're not fired.
Thank you. Good hahaha. And so, after learning a bunch of ways not to do it with each prototype, we finally arrived at the final design, which led us here to this crucial moment. I understand. Good job guys. You guys are ready. To do this? Well. Who do you think will beat Beckham? ME! I have the apples. You do. You've got the big brain working there. Alright. Ready? Here we go. One two. Wait wait. Hey, wait. Hold! Damn! They're almost gone! That's what we at NASA call critical oversight. Alright, now we're ready. Well, here we go. One two three.
Oh, come on. Apples! Wow, look, it's still spinning. Ready. Well done guys. That's what I'm talking about. Those apples. You know Uncle Mark doesn't like to lose, right? Yes. Even if we win, you don't let us win. You don't really win, do you? Introducing Mega Spinner 2.0. Now, if you look closely, you will realize why I felt so confident in my possibilities. Since this one has ten times more elastic bands than yours. Our elastic bands are uh... a little reinforced. How can you remove them? I'm glad you asked! In fact, here's Josh to explain exactly how. So with the expansion of this.
We added more elastic bands, which made it very difficult to pull the Striker back and could no longer be done by hand. So we introduced a winch, which actually has ratchets built into it. Therefore, it has a mechanical advantage of four and a half to one. So get it going again. You are gaining four and a half times the amount of energy you invest in exchange for distance. And then there is a ratchet that prevents it from moving back in the opposite direction. Then, once you're done turning, the striker will pull out and won't move forward until you pull the quick release.
What a perfect engineering application for a ratchet where you want to add this power. But storing it for a specific moment. And if you watch the video on how to set up the spinner, you will learn all about ratchets. And it just so happens that the construction box's own coin spinner also uses a ratchet. That's the team badge you get for this box and you put it on your diploma. And since we are making massive versions of everything else, it is logical that we also make a megadiploma. Now back to the final showdown. Here we go.
You won't need this design from Ty. Nooooo We have a mega coin Look at that. Alright, here we go. using Ratchets to my advantage. We have the O.G. Uncle Marcos. We will win. Okay, are you ready? One two. Three champions! Hold. ours is still working Hey! THAT? It's out of the arena! DQ! Yes Yes. That was our victory. Never, I'll edit it! I'll edit it! Champion! Hold. Ours is still Champion! I'll let you, I'll give you the tie on a technicality because I'm just a benevolent guy. Very good, for the record. After that, we had the bright idea to also try using the megacoin roulette wheel to launch a £125 cast iron manhole cover.
And I guess everything went as well as expected. But since we don't quit smoking here at CrunchLabs, we came up with a slightly different approach. Three, two, one. Here we are. Go. MEGACURRENCY! Well, that was a little disappointing. So, since we didn't want to waste a good manhole cover, we enlisted the help of my favorite fruit. And from then on that put us in a spectacular mood. I'll end with this montage of beautiful destruction. Oh, if you're watching this and haven't ordered your subscription to the Crunchlabs build box yet, what the heck are you waiting for?
