cozy

. because of its size, but I think we did some really special things with the space or Amy Kehoe did some really special things with the space. I don't know if it's going to sound strange, it certainly won't to any person who is crazy about their pets. She had never seen my dog so happy, so I actually bought the house for my dog. That's the truth, this table from Green River Project is made of the most beautiful wood, scalloped edge, which I think is an incredibly beautiful touch that really evokes the water, like bringing the beach into the home. This sofa is also custom made for the space because like I said. everything is so incredibly small here there was no sofa on the market that I liked enough to serve on my Malibu

getaway

All the lovely people here who are helping to make this happen today can tell you that and there are several people behind the camera, very small to me, it almost feels more welcoming that way and I'm not just saying that because it's my space, but in It actually feels like being in a little book nook or something with really, really beautiful touches everywhere that make everything feel really calm and lovely, so for me it's just about finding ways to tune out and every time I I'm near the water I really feel like that's easier outside, this is my kitchen, it's probably my favorite place to be in the house, mainly because of how

open

and airy it is, the ceiling is at its highest point in the kitchen and I have these transom windows at the top of the house that let in really beautiful light.

They are very important to me and I also have this incredible original print from a photographer named Sam Shaw, who was John Cassavetti's initial photographer and so he was there the day they filmed this scene from Woman Under the Influence with Jenna Rollins and that is by Cassavetti. filming Jenna in that scene and he has a cigarette hanging out of her mouth and that just sums up everything about the way they made movies and she's obviously an actress that means a lot to me and it's very, very meaningful. piece that I actually had in my other house and that I brought here to Malibu to live in the kitchen, so all the hardware here from Philip krangi has a kind of rope quality to it which again was like pulling something from the nautical near ocean vibes, which I really love throughout my refrigerator and freezer.
I decided I wanted two because I knew the space was small, but I know I like having a cocktail since part of the fun of this place is inviting people over. and walk on the beach and carry your drink with you, so I knew I needed a lot of space to put alcoholic drinks and also ice. I'm not a big cook, so I was able to have the smallest stove in the world that also works with the space and I think that's pretty sweet but it's also very representative and indicative of my real lifestyle, which is that she doesn't cook, she doesn't. cook at all.
I was very lucky that the person who built this property even though I changed everything Inside there was a lot of light and all these chants and windows that you know throughout the day change the light which I think is a really lovely thing to have in your face, so all the sconces both in the bedroom and here in the kitchen, these wicker and brass gems are from a place called sewn which is in England and we've been waiting for them for a long time, which is usually the case when you want buy things from afar, the other lighting fixtures are all vintage finds which I think helps.
The house really feels like it is, it's like a

cozy

and homey little place. I tried to make something that still felt like it evoked my spirit, but it's still a little place on the beach, it's not fancy, but it has some incredibly charming nuances. things that make it feel like it's mine hey, I don't know about you, but I really like using a curtain as a

door

, that was our solution so that we wouldn't have what traditionally happens in small spaces, which is the feared thing that I don't have . Go ahead, I don't like it, I don't like the barn

door

, you know, Mazel, talk to anyone who does, it's not a judgment, it's more or less a judgment, but it's okay, you can keep your birth door, but We came up with this. idea of separating the space between the living room, kitchen and bedroom with this amazing curtain fabric from the Amy Kehoe store Nikki Kehoe, which is great, so it does a lot of this, which is good, okay, we're In my tiny little boat cabin. bedroom, which is another thing Amy and I talked about about creating a space where everything had a very specific purpose so that it could be perfectly organized and really cozy, like a boat with an incredibly beautiful Nikki Kehoe thread pendant that I've always I had coveted it and wanted one in my other house and there was never anywhere to put it, so we basically started with this pendant and everything built from there.

I think she is a brilliant genius, but this was in her shop and it was the coziest thing, just to me I thought, oh there's too much pattern on pattern and then I thought I don't really care, it's the most Divine, cozy, warm thing. , the reason I talk about this is because I like to put my pets in cashmere as much as possible because they really like it because they're not dumb, you know, I don't have dumb dogs, so the main thing when I'm here is to snuggle up in this bed with my blanket with all my dogs on the bed and my TV that is on this wall is a real Netflix story and quiet here we are in my bathroom which is lined from floor to ceiling with beautiful clay zelig tiles that I once saw one of them I just went crazy and said to Amy: would it be crazy if we did everything by sealing everything?

I think on the first few tries these amazing Italian lavender colored rock crystal sconces and as soon as she showed them to me, I went completely crazy about them and wanted to have them. and I thought well, even if it's too glamorous of a chandelier to have in a little beach house, I want it anyway and that's kind of the driving force, I think, in most of the decisions we made here, which was what which would feel more fun and what I'm going to feel luxurious, but also, ultimately, I and again it's a lavender lilac color, which is another watered down version of the plant, so obviously I have a real problem with that.
