NEW Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Review: The ULTIMATE Supercar? 4K

Apr 24, 2024
What makes a

supercar

super is one of the deepest questions in automotive life obviously it has to be fast it has to look spectacular it has to be attractive but intimidating and it has to offer performance at the expense of almost everything else this is the

lamborghini

aventador

svj The latest mid-engined, naturally aspirated v12

supercar

to go on sale today and I don't think there's another supercar that fits that description as well as the SVJ because the SBJ, perhaps more than any other car, is total and absolutely determined in his search. of one thing that impresses five year olds and correct speed launch control esc off push mode corsa this is going to hurt oh my god oh that oh that's not a 62 in 2.8 seconds I'm impressed and I'm not even five years old this The thing is wild, I feel like wild is a bit of an overused word, but considering the fact that my neck is broken and my insides have been completely rearranged, yeah, I'd say wild is a pretty good word right now, the

aventador

svj or super veloce.

Yota is the

ultimate

Lambo, sitting above the standard Aventador S and replacing the SV at the top of the range. It was designed with one purpose: to be the fastest production car around the Nurburgring, and to achieve that they had to make some pretty dramatic changes. the standard car first is the engine, this car uses the same six and a half liter naturally aspirated v12 that you find in the sv, but for this it was given a slight tingle, it has titanium valves, a redesigned cylinder head, a admission, it has a lighter. shorter exhaust and a lighter flywheel, so it now makes 770 horsepower at 8,500 rpm, proper supercar power, and makes proper supercar noise.

Listen to that v12, plug it into my veins and this gearbox is outrageous, shifting from second to third all the way through. the car shakes it seems like you're having an accident every time you pick up speed it's violent it's also light it weighs just over 1500 kilograms it's 200 kilograms lighter than a super fast ferrari 812 it's athletic it's built specifically it's one of the most focused on the track extraordinary supercars the world has ever seen, but that's not always good news. The problem with building the most track-focused extraordinary supercar the world has ever seen is that it's really bad at doing ordinary things.

Imagine a car that has been deliberately designed, I think, to be as annoying as possible, that's what the SVJ is. I promise you you have this huge v12 behind you and there is no sound deadening material not even a carpet so there is nothing to absorb the noise in this car it is always super loud all the time. These seats are as uncomfortable as you want, there is no padding whatsoever, there is hardly any adjustment, not really, there is no adjustment, you have to contort your body into the way the seat wants you to be and that's it, there is no negotiation whatsoever. and then what.

Is this gearbox, honestly, what is it? It uses this old school single clutch sequential manual that is roboticized, in other words a computer does the gear changes most of the time and honestly it's pretty abysmal, you floor it from a slow gear and then as you shift from first to second it just wobbles from gear to gear and almost all the time you get confused about which gear it's supposed to be and it's baffling that only Lamborghini can get away with such a gearbox. bad, having said it has a couple of good things going for it, the actual ride isn't as bad as I thought it might be only if you're in strider mode, although any other mode is a complete nightmare, too bouncy and then there's a turning circle which is actually really good.
The car uses rear wall steering, so it can handle tight turns, three-point turns, roundabouts, and pretty much everything else that normal cars can tackle without any problem, but it's not the kind of car you'd want to use. journal, no storage. space with no door bins or glove box there is a small place where you can put a mobile phone but not much else to make a human being feel welcome if you see someone driving an SVJ around town desperately trying to look good don't believe it not for a second. "You're struggling in any other car, these features would be a deal breaker, no one wants something as unrefined, uncomfortable and as difficult to drive as this one, no one except Lamborghini when Stefano Domenicali challenged his designers and engineers to improve the Aventador, he told them He said he did." He didn't just want a normal car, he wanted the

ultimate

supercar, he wanted every inspiration possible, spaceships, fighter jets, if it's fast and has aerodynamic superiority, he wanted it in the svg and he definitely got it, didn't he?
So? I mean, if you want. a car that turns heads the svj is definitely the one the standard aventador looks pretty crazy but this is a whole new level the front end is super aggressive and then there are a lot of little details like here on the side wing mirrors carbon fiber. fiber side skirts and then this huge air intake on the side big enough to, I don't know, swallow a baby, then at the back you have these super aggressive center-mounted exhausts, this huge rear diffuser, a ridiculous rear spoiler and then my favorite part is this engine cover which definitely looks like something out of a spaceship, you even have this little glass panel here that allows you to take a cheeky peek at your v12, it looks totally crazy but there is a method behind this, this giant wing works in conjunction with two slots in the nose of the car that form the Lamborghini Lamborghini Ativa aerodynamic wing system with all the flaps and slots closed, the splitter and the rear spoiler work normally providing a downforce 40 more than the sv when you are going fast in a straight line the front flaps open which reduces drag and sends air under the car to be managed by the rear diffuser.
A pair of flaps inside this wing center pillar then open and divert air into the aileron, where it escapes through small holes creating disruptive vortices. that stop the wing as a whole or anywhere people say lambos are big and dumb, but this is real supercar science. Lambos are often accused of being one-trick ponies, great in a straight line, but not so good in corners, but let me tell you. categorically, this spj is absolutely phenomenal in every way six forty-four nine seven that's the magic number that's the number you need to remember to tell people who doubt the svj's credentials because six minutes 44.97 seconds is the Nurburgring lap record held by the SVJ.
No other production car is as fast as this one around the green hill. It's a minute faster than a Fergani Zonda. A whole minute. Obviously, we can't come close to feeling the full force of this car's capabilities here. You need a race track to even get started. Scratch the surface of the SVJ's potential, but what I can tell you is that this is the fastest car I've ever cornered in. Without exception, the amount of grip, the mechanical grip of this car, is just amazing, it's otherworldly, you throw it into a corner and it just holds, I'd love to tell you that I can feel the downforce provided by that clever aerodynamic system, but the truth is that I can't, all the grip is provided by the Pirelli P0 circuits and there are many.
If you're interested in your downforce levels, there's a small display on the dash that shows you exactly how much downforce you're getting front and rear. If you're not on a race track, you won't feel it here. It's all about mechanical grip and there's tons of it, the SPJ uses an aluminum double wishbone suspension controlled by internal pushrod spring and damper units. Spring rates are the same as the SV, but the SVG's magnetic dampers are 50 stiffer and its anti-roll bars 15 stiffer than before, making it feel like a real race car, it's a great son of a damn, the svj, but it doesn't really feel it when you're moving and that's largely because it uses rear wall steering so the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front to help the nose stay tucked in and It works like a charm.
Four-wheel drive cars can tend to feel a little heavy, a little understeered, not a little bit on the svg that points to a the apex and the nose, oh it's so precise, it's a really good front end For this car, a car with this much power should be intimidating and it does in a straight line with the throttle pin, but in the corners, the all-wheel drive gives you incredible Confidence to get power almost as soon as you want and ceramic brakes of carbon to brake as late as you did. Then when you accelerate the gearbox comes to life and in the roughest mode the shifts are violent, aggressive and then you have all this happening to the soundtrack of a naturally aspirated feature that revs up to around 9000 rpm I mean rev , it's not accelerating, it's screaming, bellowing,

lamborghini

, don't use a gasoline particulate filter in this car, I don't know how. get away with it, but what it means is that the spj is probably the loudest factory car i have ever heard on the road, it's surprisingly loud, it sounds incredible, it's not just the speed that impresses about the svj, but how it achieves it . it goes about its business with this stubborn and stubborn approach to almost everything the gearbox is dumb the looks are ridiculous the engine a nav12 is a relic it's an ergonomic nightmare this car that apparently incorporates elements just to make the car faster or look better even if it makes the driver more uncomfortable and yet I wouldn't have it any other way, there are other supercars of course with similar power or with fantastic designs and many that offer an epic driving experience, but I have a hard time thinking of anyone who is.
As completely crazy and at the same time as devastatingly effective as this and that is what a supercar should ultimately be, the SVJ with all its idiosyncrasies and annoyances coupled with its incredible technology and outrageous speed is for me the very definition of a supercar this is what supercars should be you
