, so let's get started. I ordered the waterslide sticker paper on Amazon. I'll put a link below where you can order it after you're done sanding the guitar neck. I'm going to use real oil, this is made for gun stocks and is a beautiful rub-on product with a beautiful sheer, shiny silk finish.

Now you can put multiple coats on the guitar, but you can literally hand rub it into the wood now if you want. I'm actually refinishing a Fender guitar and you want the original logos on there, you can find

them

on Google image and just type in the Fender headstock logo. I wanted to create my own, so using Photoshop I took a variation of the fender logo and spelled out Stratocaster. I also added some of my DIY

decals

so I can fill the sheet now, when you load the slide decal into the printer make sure you have the correct side facing up, you might want to do a test just in case once you've printed it.

The original logo you'll want to close instead of just having a big square around it because you might see a slight border, but I think you'll be able to get rid of that once you put a clear coat over everything. Cutting out the genan logo DIY. I decided I was going to place it on top of the headstock. I cut a bigger one. DIY genan logo, this will be placed on the spring cover that is on the back of the Stratocaster using Rustoleum clear. I taped my images together and gave it a very light coat of clear, lightly sanding the headstock with wool still and making sure it's slick and smooth and ready to go, take a damp cloth and wipe off the excess wool still and now you're going to take some room temperature water and just place the decal one at a time in the water, now sit back and let this take your time and eventually it will start to literally slide away from the backing material so you may You may have to test it a bit, but once it's ready, it's very

I put a little water in it. on the headstock and then place my decal approximately where I want it to go. You have time while it is still wet to reposition your decal, so slide it on and then carefully simply maneuver your decal into the position you want. Now once you have it, you'll want to take a clean cotton cloth and lightly rub it and smooth it out. You will ensure that you have all the bubbles out from under the decal and also a nice slick surface. applying the other decal. I'm going to do this the same way using the washcloth or here a cotton rag to just smooth out the decal and make sure it has a clean, smooth finish.
I'm going to do the same with that plastic plate. which goes on the back of the Stratocaster, this is the plate that covers the springs on the back, so this is a slightly larger decal. It took a little longer to separate from the backing paper, but once I did, I set everything up. I put the decal back into the water to make sure it was nice and wet. I placed it on the plastic and just like the headstock, you have time to adjust it and make sure it's exactly where you want it once you get it. cotton cloth and simply rub lightly and push out, removing any bubbles or excess water, set aside and allow to dry.
I let them both dry overnight. Now on the head, I'm going to apply another coat of true oil by applying the exact same way I did before the decals, I'm going to hand rub the true oil directly into the surface, once that's done I'm going to leave it to one side and I'll let it dry. Polishing it after it is dry is the essential part that really gives it a beautiful shine. Spend a little time on this, but once done, notice how you can't even tell where the decal starts and ends with a nice gloss for the backplate.
I'll just spray another layer of Rustoleum clear coat over it and set it aside to dry once it's dry we're ready to assemble it to the back of the guitar.
