Mikuni Carb Still Won't Cut It... My Bad

Apr 19, 2024
Hello, thanks for coming. I wanted to talk to you about something that may be a surprise to some of you and to some of you so far maybe not, but I just want to say that I am NOT a guru. I am not the Dalai Lama or Mr. Miyagi or the Jedi Master on motorcycle mechanics or Harley mechanics, everything I've learned comes from past experiences, advice from friends and things like that, or even just reading the manual and I usually don't go into the menu Unless I have a problem or something other than that rabbit trail.

I guess I will update you once again on this motorcycle. What else have I learned? Have you seen the video about how I was changing the Mikuni

carb

uretors that were on this bike? because I said I didn't want to go fast, I don't really like going fast and those makuu knees are only known for one performance, so you guys saw that video and if you are new to this video, if this is your first video come back and watch my other videos and you can follow this saga, so anyway I took off the

mikuni

and put the CV in there and ran it for a moment and then mentioned in another video that the

mikuni

was apparently the right one.

carb

uretor for this engine because I later found out that some work had been done on this engine so I made the statement that the CV carburetor could never deliver this engine where it wants in the condition it is in right now, well that was evil. bad for saying that, I should never have said that, I jumped to conclusions and stuff, so I put the mikuni back on there and ran it for a while and then my wife and I took a trip to Florida and I had trouble with this thing that it was getting hot. just like I did with the CV, it was running hot, in other words you're running low on power and the thing sat in traffic and it got hotter and hotter and hotter in Pensacola, another hard lesson I learned, no It was too hard because I didn't do it.

More Interesting Facts About,

mikuni carb still won t cut it my bad...

I didn't burn out the engine, but it is planned to make a little more noise today. They stopped and let a gas station sit for a moment, let it cool down so I could hear them loud and clear, and here the can moves and I can hear everything. kind of thing until we got to Panama City nine and then the next day it ran fine, ran fine around town and then on the trip home I took the I-10 and went all the way home about two hundred and twenty twenty miles and it was I did the same thing again so I took the plugs out and yeah they were white you know this bike was running lean so what I did was because I have a lot of CB Jets to play with and I don't have Mikuni pieces.

I said what the hell. the mikuni I'm just going to go ahead and increase the size of the Jets. I put a forty-eight idle jet in the CV and I put an eighty-five main jet and on top of that I got to thinking about a big cam, a bigger cam wants more gas, I went ahead and raised the throttle a little bit. float level and I put the carburetor on and ran it up and down the road and it was

still

running hot anyway and then, silly, one thing I didn't do was check my You know, I never checked the spark plug gap, I just never it crossed my mind and I wanted to see what it was so I checked the spark plug gap and I was a little surprised that the spark plug gap was set at 25. instead of 35 or 40 so this thing was set to a really hot spark, on top of that, as of now the blood gap has been reset to 40.

One reason things didn't heat up was when I first brought this. houses on a motorcycle because I never took it on a road trip and that's one of the reasons I didn't warm up to it so this time I took it on a road trip with the mikuni and that will keep a tight gap there isn't enough gasoline, it doesn't release for this engine anyway, that's all, so I have the oil draining from this thing right now and thinking to myself this thing ran so high, I just couldn't change the oil again after all. I have a road trip coming up. week, so I want to have this in the best shape possible.
I'm pretty sure that gap in the plug, as well as everything else, contributed to this running high, so I got a lot of criticism and constructive criticism, more constructive criticism than anything else about my situation on the bike and things like that, but I appreciate your constructive criticism and I have to say that I don't know everything you know, I mean, like I said, everything I learned, all I know is that I learned it from experience. things that I've had to do and I even appreciate those bad things that come because then I know what to watch out for or I know how to remedy the situation or I can share that with someone else one of the things I hope that what I do with this channel is something informative for You guys share what I've learned, maybe you can share with me what you know, if I'm missing something, you know, it's like the Bible says that as iron sharpens iron, one man sharpens another.
You know, I don't think we should keep what we know to ourselves because I know I don't know everything and no one knows everything. about that, but I would be more than willing to learn from you what I don't know. After all these Evo's came out much longer, even the iron heads came out before I was born and the shovel heads came out before I was born, I have that shovel head there, it will hide here in this Evo, it came out through the pipeline or even before I was in school, you know, there's always going to be someone up here that knows something more than I know and I just dropped the plug and my oil pan, wait, yeah, I love it when that happens, so yeah, maybe we can, you know, do this together, you know, and on this mechanical thing, you know, I should, I could certainly use some good input, that's Harlan, here, so let's get him out. on the road maybe 20 miles or so and I'll see what the spark plugs look like when I get back and I'll also see how this thing sounds and how it runs and all that, I'll see if it's a different beast, so now that you're further along, Let's go to get moving and it's like that again.
I hear the engine excessively as if it practically solved a problem there, as I said before, even so far the carburetor is boosted and how the slide has been modified to slide on the spring like You saw my life was taken in a file that really makes a big difference and the formants don't lie much again, the mikuni was set to the lane, but this feels like it's set up correctly, so when I get back to the house, let's take a good look. to them if they have that chocolate color, I know well, like I said, it's been over 20 miles now, so it's been about 22 miles or 23 miles at this point and I probably have about 10 more miles I guess, give or take , quite. good test, right, let's get to the house, see what it looks like and come back, well yeah, I say it's a lot quieter than it was, let's see if I can do this without getting burned too.
I don't know if you can. See, but on that white porcelain part of this plug it has that chocolate look around it, so this gives me the idea that I'm on the right track with this now. I guess that's it, like I was saying, if we can learn from each other I can learn from you and you learn from me, you know I would love to share what I know and I would love to hear your feedback on some of the things that I may not be doing well or about a better way, you know, what I do. mistakes like the one below so anyway leave some comments below and tell me what you think about that idea and if you like the content go ahead and like and share and if you're new to this channel please subscribe like I did .
I've been saying I have no idea what I'm going to film next but I'll try to keep it interesting and you guys be good to yourselves and keep the rubber side down and thank you very much.
