British teen missing in Tenerife had cut his leg and didn't know where he was, friend says

on the Spanish island of tenor Reef Jay Slater disappeared after a night out with his

friend

s on Sunday night. One of them told Sky News that she felt deceived by the police after reporting him. He disappeared and described the desperate search to find him. The 19-year-old was on the island to attend a music festival that was last heard from on Monday. It is his first holiday abroad with

s and he called his friend Lucy Lord shortly after 8am. Monday morning and she shared her location in a mountainous area in the northwest of the island that is popular with hikers.

She told him that she was going to walk back to

they were staying in Los Cristianos, but that is about 30 miles away. I talked to Lucy. early tonight I had um I had gone home um from the N Festival um a little earlier than everyone else um because I was tired so I went home alone um back to my apartment um and then I woke up to um um a phone call about eight thirty in the morning, around eight thirty, from J saying that I had gone up into the mountains, that his phone was on 1%, so he was about to die, he

he was. um he needed a drink um he had cut his whole leg off like a cactus and he had no idea where we were so um I told him like if you're ever going to hear something I'm going to Say you need to listen now you need to go back to the place where you came from before your phone goes off and I will come pick you up from there, however you need it, you should go back there, um, he said. for me, I can't go back there, I can't go back there, I don't

where he is, so I just said send me, send me like a location, so he sent me a screenshot of his last location, uh. um so we went straight and the first thing I did when the phone went off was I called the police um so I called 911 um and I talked to the people there um and they told me 'I sent a helicopter, um, but more Later I spoke to someone who lived in the mountains and he told me that he hadn't heard any helicopters, which obviously if there was a helicopter he definitely would have heard it, so I think it just totally fed me that like I don't even think they did, so after half an hour I had no updates so I called again and said any sighs from the helicopter?

Has anyone seen it? really very worried I said no I

't see anything but they were like looking for it so I thought well I'm not going to get anywhere with this phone call like every time I called the police like they kept cutting off the phone I didn't think they were bothered at all the situation, so I thought well: I need to take a taxi as soon as possible to go to the police station and talk to them like in person, so I took a taxi to the nearest police station. I was literally there an hour after the phone call.

So I entered. I said I really need to report someone

. But I said it's not like they're just missing around here, like he's missing in a very abandoned place. there's nothing up there, it's just mountains um I was she she she gave me a piece of paper that said um I needed to connect, fill out a form um and then within 48 hours I would receive a cable and I would bring the cable back to the station police um and then I could file a report I said within 48 hours like it could be fatal I said this this needs to be reported right now um so we got there and there was literally no sign of him anywhere like I spent the whole day walking around, literally There was nothing, no trace of him.

I walked into a restaurant that was halfway to The View Point um and that's where you are now Lucy, you're staying on the coast but you're now in the mountains where you literally think I literally haven't slept at all since I got that phone call to 8:00 we all hope that the search continues and Jay has found him safe and sound, but the final question is what? How is he? What is he like at home? Is it sensible or is it a little more risky? What's Jay like? No, he is not a risk taker at all. He wouldn't do anything.

I do not know why. I can't understand why he would leave the house and then decide that he was going to walk. I don't know why he would do that and then I think he set off maybe and maybe he set off walking with his back to it. and I didn't realize how far the walk really is and then when it's obvious or when I talked to him he said he had already walked about half an hour and then obviously I don't know if he walked half an hour. an hour down the road and then he put it on his maps and then obviously it said it's very far, I really, really don't know why he went out for a walk, there's not much up here, yet there are cars that come here. people who come here to walk, I have seen so many people here and I have asked everyone if they saw it and no one saw it and this is what seems strange to me because if I had seen someone or a car or a person, I would have SL under the car, he would have told someone like that that he needs the phone to contact someone and also like he never had his M worrying like that, he would never like his family to worry like that he would never have us worrying like that, if he saw someone , the first thing I would do is say, I need to call my mom, like I know for sure, so I've never been so worried in my life.
