Flylady Zone 1| Zone Cleaning (2020)

Mar 24, 2024
Hey guys, my name is Nikki and I'll welcome you here to take Grace. Well, let's say we're at the start of a new month and I decided I wanted to do something a little different for my videos for the month of March. During the month of March, I'll be walking you through each

zone

for the fall announcement system, so right now, starting today, we'll be doing

zone

1 and I'll be walking you through everything I've done. this week for zone 1, okay, so if you follow the final announcement system, zone 1 includes now I'm going to look at my phone so I don't miss anything, but zone 1 includes your entryway, your front porch, and your dining room. now, some of you, I know you've modified your zones and made them work for your home so that yours don't exactly match the file ad system, which is totally fine.

I didn't want to let you know that I'm NOT going to do it. I'll be doing my front porch, that's a job my kids do, so I don't mess with the front porch, but I'm going to work on the entry to my dining room now that they're both in the back of my house, actually. around the back of our house, so I'm going to make that zone, but our dining room is also at the back of our house, so it works great for that to be my zone, one thing I want. To remind you about zone

cleaning

is to set the timer, be sure to set the timer to 15 minutes.

More Interesting Facts About,

flylady zone 1 zone cleaning 2020...

Ideally you will work on each zone for 15 minutes once a day for about the week, so the way I normally do mine is on Monday I do my weekly home blessing hour and then on Tuesday Wednesday Thursday and Friday I I like to do about 15 minutes of area clearing in the area I'm in now this week in order to film this. In fact, I'm going to do it all at once, so for me it's going to be about an hour of

cleaning

, so I'm going to put together mine if you work outside the home or if your schedule doesn't allow you to do 15 minutes each day, it's okay just say hello, I'm going to do an hour of zone cleaning during the week and I'll do it that way.

Some people like to break it up over a couple of days and they'll do thirty minutes here, thirty minutes there, fifteen minutes is ideal. although that way you're not cleaning much every day so I just wanted to point that out so make it work for you. The other thing I want to point out is if you haven't finished decluttering your house yet. For example, if you have a lot of clutter, the first thing you should do is not clean the area, you should actually declutter, set the timer for 15 minutes a day and whatever area we are in, just declutter, get rid of the batteries, get rid of the trash clutter and finally once you have taken care of all the clutter you can jump into cleaning the actual area which is kind of like your deep cleaning.

If you're not familiar with a fly lady's detailed cleaning list, you can go to her website and find that I'm not going to read you the whole thing, but basically what I'm going to do is sort of deep clean from the top. from the room to the back of the room, so they can dust like in the corners you will make sure to get rid of cobwebs like above the windows in the corners lamps all the things that you don't necessarily do weekly you are going to start from the top and then you go to go down.
I don't have much to do in my dining room, it's actually one of the areas that doesn't take me that much time because I don't think there's a lot of things in here. What takes me the most time is to thoroughly clean my built-ins, but you'll all see me do that. I'll also be sure to take a few minutes to go through our coat closet. I need to straighten up. shoes in there and things like that, so I'm going to turn the camera around in just a minute, but this month, during the month of March, like I said, every Monday, I'm going to walk you through each area to clean them, so this The week It's Zone One and we're working on the front porch to the dining room, so we're going to be busy, so here's a quick look at the room.
You can see I'm starting with a mostly straightened room in which the wood is for a project that we'll eventually get to at some point here's my dining room I'm going to do area cleaning here and I'm also doing that to organize this closet this is our wardrobe closet where we hang our codes and store shoes and things So, when we walk in, it's definitely not terrible, but it needs a little cleaning, so I'm going to start my stopwatch for 15 minutes and let's start with the closet, like this than the first. What I'm going to do is take out the hangers, we have some extra hangers here.
I'll take them out and put them aside. I'm going to straighten out some of the coats there are some things that are falling off the hangers and I'm just going to quickly tighten them up. I took out my shoes. I'm going to grab my vacuum cleaner so I can do a quick vacuum here. This tray that has shoes in it gets pretty dirty, so I like to vacuum it and then once it's out, I like to quickly vacuum the closet. I like to get into the corners or just below where it is. the shoes are and that keeps this closet nice and tidy now that the code says everything is tidy.
I like to start dusting at the top of this room. I have this type of microfiber duster. I've had this for a long time, but it's a very useful tool, it's really good work. I like to just run it against the crown molding, lower it in the corners and again I like to start from the top first, that way all the dust can fall and off I go. I go ahead and turn on the lamp and then I'll continue around the room real quick once I've dusted the top of the room. I like to go ahead and dust off the things that are on the walls, these dishes that I like. to make sure I use them every month because I know if I don't they would get dirty but because I make sure I take the time and do it every month they don't collect dust on them so now I'm going to do it. to move on to my built in furniture my built in furniture this is where I have my ginger jars and vases in my blue and white pieces.
I like to remove everything, one at a time, just the piece and then right under it. and then I save everything again. I am using an e cloth that I have sprayed with a little mrs. Meyer's all-purpose cleaner. I just like the way it smells. I would wet it a little, it's not really wet, but it does a great job of picking up all the dust and removing fingerprints and stuff, so I'll continue to go through this shelf and remove everything once the built-ins are done. I'm going to continue going through the room just sliding all the knickknacks and furniture down, now one of the things.
What's on the fly women's list is polishing their furniture, their wooden furniture. I have now discovered that I really prefer this method. I just use an equal that has a little bit of cleaner in it and just give everything a good result. Now I had to do it. I use furniture polish, things like dust and things like that in the past and well, I don't dislike them. I feel like I like this better, so I'm not saying I'll never do it, but for now this is what I do. I'm enjoying it and how I like to do it.
I really like that I can use this for everything here. I don't have to switch between products, so that's what I'm going to do. Okay, so my timer just went off. first 15 minute timer, so here I'm going to finish what I'm doing and then I'm going to reset my timer and start again. Here you can see that I am using the same eikhoff and mrs. Meyers cleaner on my table, this is a wood table that has been sealed with polyurethane and like I said I really like it, I can use this product on everything. I'm going to dust off my centerpiece, it's just a very simple centerpiece and then I'm going to give my chairs a good clean.
We don't eat at this table regularly, so I like to give these chairs a good wipe to remove all the dust. They are black. They have a shiny finish. So when people touch them, they have fingerprints on them, so like I said, I like to just give them a good clean. Now everything has been dusted and thoroughly cleaned, so I'm going to work on these windows. I also use the same one for the windows they are like the side lights next to my door. I use a damp cloth and then I dry it with the e polishing cloth and it removes the streaks, no fingerprints, nothing like that, it works great so I'm I'm going to do that and then when I'm done with that I'm going to grab my other cloth just the same that I was just using an all-purpose cloth and I'm going to go around the room again and to wipe down all the door knobs, like the door jambs where people tend to touch things, my light switches and things like that, so that everything is clean well, so again we start at the top of the room and work our way down now.
I'm going to check and just quickly clean my baseboards. I don't always use it as a damp cloth. I found that using this little duster that I used in the top corners really works. Well just quick clean my baseboard so I normally do my rugs don't need to be washed right now but they do need a good shake so I'll take them outside. I'm going to shake them. Let them sit in the sun and air them out a bit and then we'll get to work on the floors. I need to get the chairs out from under the table.
I want to give everything a very good vacuum. I'm going to get into the corners really good and then I'm going to give everything a really good mop so my 15 minute timer goes off again and I'm going to reset it you guys can do a lot in just 15 minutes now again I told you that today This particular week I'm doing all of this in one day but I'm setting the timer and restarting it so you can see how much you can actually do in just 15 minutes, okay? down in the comments I would love for everyone to tell me how long they have been using the file ad system.
I started the file announcement system this time in September. I started in September and followed the 31 small steps I did. That first, then I added my weekly hour of home blessing and also area cleaning and so far things are still going very well. I've been doing this for several months and it's still not perfect, there are some weeks where I don't do it. I don't make it to the weekly home blessing hour, sometimes I do it really well on Monday, other weeks I spread it out throughout the week, it really depends. The last few weeks it was very difficult for me to get to the cleaning of areas.
I'm not really sure why we've had so much going on and some things are taking a backseat so that's why I really wanted to focus on this for March because I really want to get back into it. the pace of cleaning my area, but you know, this is not about perfection, it's about progress, our goal or my goal is to just get better every day, the mop that I'm using today is the O-cedar spin mop that really me like. this mop, another mop that I use regularly is the E cloth mop head. I put it on a different mop head that I have and I like to use it for really quick jobs, but I didn't want them to know that I have them all. of these products listed below in my Amazon store now I'm not trying to sell you a bunch of stuff but I do talk about the products I use because I like them and some of you ask questions about them so if you see I'm using something .
I have it listed so you can find it very easily. Well, mopping the floor here is pretty much the last thing I needed to do so you can see. I have a few minutes left on my timer. I'm going to pause this. I'm going to wait for my floors to dry and then I'll come out. You can see that it is already dark outside. It got dark very quickly. I'm going to grab my rugs that I shook out and put them back up, it feels really good to be back on top of my cleaning zone and I'm so excited to have done it guys, thank you so much for watching.
