Now I've picked up the cones from several different places, Joanne's hobby lobby from Michael and you can use them. the green foam comb the florals or the whites what I'm looking at again is the six inch dollar tree theirs is a little bigger it's more like a 6.9 now this will actually work with them I've actually used the same pattern with it so you can do that, but I prefer to go with the simple six inch, they're about two dollars, two dollars and fifty cents each. In fact, I've found that florals are cheaper, even at the same stores. so sometimes I pick them up and use them instead, so the cone is very golden.

The cover is very simple. I have a pattern here. I already cut it out and what I do is I take just one of my 9 by 12 sheets of felt and I always like to have something that I can cover the whole thing with one piece of felt, make it nice and quick and easy, so this gives me my circle for the base and around the cone, so that's what I normally do. It would be just tracing around it and then cutting it out, you can pin it if you want, some people just cut around it but I usually trace around it and then cut it out, it just makes it easier for me to cut a piece in there for it and it can be on anything if you want you can use a marker if you want to use something I know there are a lot of things to sew that you know disappear when you wash them and this will all be on the inside so I'm not so worried about the marker or the pen showing on that now the trick is that when I take this piece that I have here it is to place the cone in the center to wrap it, what happens is if you place it on the side.

I found it and I tried to wrap it and you end up having these spaces that don't fit it's just the way it's wrapped so the trick is and I wanted everyone to know you put it in the center start in the center there and then go up one side, go around the other side and you'll see that it can overlap just a little. The top doesn't matter because it will actually be under the hat and will again touch the bottom a little bit. is where I want the seams to meet because it's nice when I fold it and glue it, I just have this nice little seam that goes here and on my gnomes too, which I'm making with the cones that are usually Usually, or it will be covered with a beard or it'll be in the back anyway so I'll have like a coat or something to cover it so what I really wanted to show you was the trick to make sure you're I put the cone in the center and then I wrap it around to glue it on and I just take my glue gun, make a little seam, run down a little bit, bring it in and then I'll do the other side, glue it on and then like I.

As I've shown in other videos, I'm going to take the bottom here and cut one inch slots about an inch apart right above the cone, as you can see it's a little bit longer here and that's why I said for The Dollar Tree Ones I made them to be a little longer, so if you get the dollar tree ones there, they will fit most things I make. I try to make them as universal as possible so that you can use them. with different things but I found that the six inch cone is pretty much the basic uh with the basic with the mason in most stores, I actually ordered some crafts where I got some five and a half inches and again I just modified this a bit and it's going to stay, you know, it's going to go there, so I just want to have a pattern that covers it and just give it my cover gnome there so I can start building from there.
