car theft, violent crime has increased 25 percent year over year here in Washington D.C and this is a problem that cries out for a solution and I think that Anyone who, as the leader said, works here, lives here and visits here, would like to have a community that is safe and this is not exclusive to Washington D.C., to cities across the country, from New York to Seattle, is seen particularly in many of our populated areas.

Across the country we are experiencing the same wave of crime as a result of soft crime policies, so this has to stop. We have a constitutional Authority, a legislative Authority here in the District of Columbia and we are going to exercise it this week. As the leader noted, the resolution that will be introduced here very soon tomorrow is one that I believe will enjoy broad bipartisan support because the Democrats have recognized what we all know and what the American people know, and that is that "it can be done." We have not continued to have policies where politicians put or basically put politics before public safety, where you have prosecutors who do not lock people up, and in an environment that is permissive and encourages this type of criminal activity in many of our major cities. . across the country so we're going to make that statement tomorrow and again I think it's going to be a great bipartisan vote and it should be because the message needs to be sent clearly to the American people that you know the policymakers here in Washington DC that their elected officials They understand this and they understand how important it is that there be a strong response to the wave of crime that has been experienced throughout this country and that we intend to do something about it starting with Washington D.C.

ers who were interested in conservation, so there were a number of activities and hearing from Iowans, particularly at the town hall meeting I did in Jasper County , there was a voter who stepped forward and said that he felt that the big hands of the government were all over Central America and that he is not wrong, friends, if we look at this Administration and there are too many onerous regulations that are being issued from so many our federal agencies, we would understand the feelings of this individual and many other people who came to City Hall;

It can be seen in everything the Democrats and President Biden are doing, from America's waters being pushed by our EPA to politicizing people's retirement accounts. There are so many regulations that are impacting the daily lives of Americans and they are tired of it, they are very tired of it and that is why it is good to see that finally some of the Democrats who are here in our Senate chambers are starting to realize the

I continue to encourage our Democratic colleagues to step up and take a look at what these onerous regulations are doing to their constituents and join us in a series of pushback against these uh, with these crass, so again, regulations excessively onerous policies are putting too much

ure on Central America.

I want to build on what Joni was saying. about overloading some regulations I am a senior member of environment and public works. I have 49 Republicans on a measure to bring down this Administration in the waters of the US EPA uh regulation that they put out and we're looking at our friends in the House part that passed a Congressional review bill to remove That regulation was approved in committee last week. We hope they approve it on Friday in the Full House and we will have it on the floor here. The following week, several of you have asked me about it and I hope it is approved in the Senate.

Well, the president has issued a veto notice and so why do this? Said. Well, first of all, will you stick to what he said? He says we don't know that we saw what happened last week or this week and so I think it's a logical question. The second reason is because it is the right thing to do. They are rewriting the laws. There is a court case pending in the Supreme Court at the moment. were going to make many of the determinations, well, they couldn't wait until they had to redesignate Waters that had never been designated as US Waters in Hertz.

I remember when I first ran for the United States House of Representatives in 2012 I remember quoting Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mullen, who back then said, and I quote, the most significant threat to our national security is our debt. I think it was prescient because this gets us into trouble as China is increasing defense spending every year in Tying our future generations with a ton of debt is irresponsible It's dangerous It's a threat to our national security We need to bring fiscal sanity back to Washington D.C.
