LIGHT UP SNOWMAN DIY USING DOLLAR TREE ITEMS

Mar 15, 2024
thanks, it's better, now you can see what I'm doing instead of just looking at my painting across the table, but what we're going to do is put a little bit of glitter on the inside. I was originally going to make the outside of these bowls, but I thought, you know? If we put them inside, then we won't have to deal with all that mess of glitter falling off, so you'll need some. Mod Podge you can use the glitter, you can use the mat, it doesn't really make any difference to the glitter, you can use any type of crystal glitter, you know, just the clear type of glitter and that's it.

This is, I don't remember where. I bought this from I don't know if I ordered it on Amazon. I bought it at Michael's, maybe I don't remember, but it's just crystal glitter. You can get all different types. I've had this one for years and years. I actually picked up AC Moore when they were still around this. I know I ordered it on Amazon. It is a diamond called diamond dust and it is just the brilliance of the crystal. It has no color, it's just a nice shiny crystal, but I think this is the one. I went on Amazon and like I said, I'm not sure if maybe you guys will recognize it.

I've had this for a while. I just don't remember where it came from, but it doesn't matter, you can find some. sometimes at Dollar Tree too, as long as it's like a crystal colored glitter. I think I want to try this one. I haven't used it yet, but it's easy. I just have to take some Mod Podge, squeeze it into some kind of container. whatever you use, these are my little bowls that I buy at Dollar Tree in the party section and there goes a garbage truck, uh, yeah, and we'll do this little one here first.

This is so simple, just grab a sponge brush you can get your hands on. these at Dollar Tree too and then just go around the inside of your little balloon here and just cover it, try to make it fit and still not have any really thick, chunky dots because it's going to look funny, um, when we turn them on because they're going to

light

up, They're going to be really cute and you're just not going to believe how easy this is to make, so that's all we're going to do, we're going to spread the Mod Podge on. here, make sure it's got a nice coating, no big thick masses or anything just nice and smooth, you don't want anything on the edge on the outside like I just did, but that's it, we're just going to keep turning that. by then we're just going to take some of this glitter here, hopefully this will be open, of course it's not, and we're just going to throw it in a pile, it doesn't matter because whatever's left we're going to put it back. in the bowl and then you're just going to twist it and twist it to make sure it covers and adheres really well to the Mod Podge and it was overkill with the glitter, but whatever and then you're just going to throw the rest away. pat it down a bit and then you have your coating for the inside of our

snowman

.

This is so simple, so you just take this little piece of cardboard here and throw all your glitter away, how come it looks like there's more glitter? now when I put it in there it didn't even fit look I'm going to have to clean this off my table now but that's it and if we're going to do the same thing with this one here' We're just going to spread our Mod Podge very quick and easy. You can remove the label if you want, but I'm telling you, you could make up a bunch of these if you wanted to make this for a craft fair or something. and I think they would be wonderful.
I'm going to do it quickly because you don't want it to dry out too much, but try to let you know that there's a big, thick part in there that you just don't want. those big thick marks that are left when you're done here because your glitter is going to be really thick in that spot and then it's going to look funny, but let's see, I think I've got it pretty good, here we go, I'm going to throw in a little more of this glitter here maybe not as much as last time and then just twist it to make sure it goes all the way to the edge here, which is why you need a piece of paper underneath to catch it.
I just spin it. a few times make sure everything is stuck in there and then give it a little tap and voila all your glitter is on the inside of your little

snowman

so now we're going to let them dry and while that's drying here . I can show you what we're going to use for the rest of this, let me put this back in and see if it multiplies again. That's really funny, okay, now everything fits. It was funny. I can't believe that allowed me to do that. Let's see if I can get this out of here real quick, look at that, it's not that bad.
I have my little vacuum cleaner here from my desk, if I can get it out after all, now that I'm shiny, I will be. from now probably until Christmas, obviously, and we'll just glue them on the right like this and then use some buttons that I got from Dollar Tree. You can find them there many times or any button you have. I just picked out a couple of little black buttons that I'm going to use for, you know, his little buttons on the front, for his eyes, actually what I'm

using

is some of these, these Dollar Tree stickers were some labels here, Well.
These are the chalkboard stickers only. I thought they would be perfect. There are self-adhesive ones. We can glue them right on the outside and they'll look great, so I cut them here. One of those little stickers. Come here and then just. Fold that in half and then I just cut out a little oval or whatever shape you want to give the eyes. It doesn't really matter, but I thought it would look cute with some oval shaped eyes, so let's just cut away. those are why you fold them in half and then you know you cut them both at the same time so you have your matching little eyes, there we go, so we have that part here, there are our little eyes.
I need to shape this up a bit. a little more because it's not very oval but it's better how come I cut them both at the same time one looks pretty good the other not so much oh well or if you have like a qriket machine you can probably just find some little eyes in there or something and do it that way, but if not, you can use these little stickers so there's part of the eye there and then we need a little bit of white on his eye, so what I used for that was just part of this. um Dollar Tree vinyl, where's the other piece you had here?
Of course, I can't find it. um I'm just going to cut a little piece off of that and this is great because you know you just peel and stick it. so you won't need much of that to make the target, so you just need a little bit of that. This is great. I mean, you don't need to have a qriket machine to use this for all kinds of little things. projects, so now we're just going to fold that one in half and cut out a couple little circles for the eyes and then you can shape them, you know, however big they are, small, whatever you want, now let's see which truck is here outside running.
I hear a truck, oh, it's another garbage truck, so there will be our little eyes or the snowman and of course he will need a nose, so for that I found some of this bright orange paper, the permanent vinyl, you know , it has the peel and stick adhesive that you could use, you know, to label anything, but a lot of these things came out at Dollar Tree this year and these things are great, so I just grabbed a piece of this, let's see, let me cut one out smaller. piece here to work with and you don't need much at all and then you just cut your little carrot nose, however big you want your little carrot nose and if you don't like it you can just cut it off and start again I don't like that in absolute um there we go so that's going to be his little carrot nose that's going to stay there I think I want to make this part a little thinner I don't like that it just doesn't look right just play with it however you want there we go it looks better for his little carrot nose and then for his mouth.
I'm just going to use some of these Dollar Tree stickers that you can get, they have all different types of these or you can find them at Michael's Hobby Lobby anywhere and these are just the little gem stickers and you just peel them off individually and that's what which we're going to paste for his mouth and then we're going to use these two buttons. for the front and I think to put them on the front of the glass, I'm actually going to use a little bit of E6000. I'll probably use hot glue and E6000 just to hold the hot glue, hold it in place while the E6000 dries. is the only reason I'm

using

both, but I think that's what I'm going to do with the buttons because they can come off of there with just hot glue because, you know, on the glass, but anyway that's it and then for the hat. of course, one of these ornaments from Dollar Tree.
These are the little snowman hats they have every year. The only thing with these now. I already did this. I took a Sharpie because you could see the brown on the edge of this little hat. cardboard, so I just went over this with a marker to color that cardboard because it looked really cheap, but otherwise they are very cute little hats and I think this will fit pretty well on top, you just have to move it carefully, carefully, with careful. Take this thing out and it doesn't leave much of a hole and if it does you can put a little decoration of some kind up there, but aren't they cute little hats?
So that's going to be your hat and then for the scarf I'm actually using a scarf that I bought at Dollar Tree a couple of years ago, every year they come out with these different ones, but I mean, you can use anything, you could use an old sweater, you could use felt, you could use a wide ribbon. If you have it, but I like these because I've made a lot of things with these little scarves, so I just cut a strip. It doesn't really matter how big I cut this, so let's see, it's about two inches wide.
I want it enough because now we're going to put these

light

s inside. I bought them on Amazon. I think I bought like 10 of them. They were not very expensive. I bought these a couple of years ago, but they are really nice and bright pin lights. and um or twinkle lights with fairy lights, people call them different things, but you can find them on Amazon, you can get sets of these pretty cheap. Dollar Tree has them too, but the only reason I'm not using the Dollar Tree ones is because I have the big battery pack in there where you have to put like two double A batteries in and that's going to be too bulky for this, but I thought that we could tuck this in the back, maybe under her scarf, the little switch on the I turn this on and off again, so I think it will look really nice, all we have to do now is wait for them to dry .
Look how pretty, you can already see them shining, but it's very pretty. I really like it, so we're going to wait for it to dry and then after it dries, we'll come back and start putting this little guy together. Okay, they're pretty dry. Now let's try this. I dialed. mine where I want the front because I looked at, you know, some of the points. I got too much glue and it looks a little lumpy, so I marked the lighter side where I want the face and where I want his tummy. so I just made a little mark with a marker here so I can place them there the way I want them and you see what I'm saying, if you make these, it will never fail.
You'll get a little bit of a thicker glow here and there, but it'll look nice anyway, so it doesn't really make any difference, so now what we want to do is try to place these lights here, now this. It's not really difficult, it's a little annoying. These particular lights I bought from Amazon have 20 little lights, so I don't think I want as many on the top as on the bottom, but. We'll see, let's see, let me count my little light bulbs here's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten, okay, so let's use this part here and stick them on top .
I just wrap them. My hand and make a little spring, so when you put them in there they're going to bounce and separate and then you can separate them a little more if you need to, these guys are a little stuck, here we go. um, but yeah, that's what's going to go there and then the other half, what's easier to do, honestly, is take this here while you're working on the other half and just put a little piece of tape to hold it down. your butts there right while you're working on this because they're going to stay in, it's kind of stretchy, they're not going to come back down while you're doing them, you know big enough to stay.
At the top, there are your little loops when you wrap them around your hand, is what I'm trying to say, so let me wrap them like this, let's see if this is going to work well and then we'll put these little ones. guys down here now this light bulb is going to end up here too and I think I want to wrap my battery pack around its little neck when it's done that way I can hide it all because you have all this leftover left on these things, I think I'm going to put this part here right next to it, this will be the front and this one I'm going to leave the battery on the side here now so I don't crush my little cable.
What we do here is we're going to flip this little guy real quick, real quick. It's easy for me to say: let me take my cable here. and I want this cable to remove our tape and now where is my tape? Everything's fine. I don't want to take my things out of here. Let's go in there. So take off my little tape now. So this goes. sit here like this and now is a good time to check and make surehave the lights where you want them and I think it looks really good like this, so let's leave it like this, but here where this wire comes out, actually these bowls don't match up perfectly, so there's going to be a gap here, which is why I want you to want to bend it. so that it stays there well, but yeah, you're not going to like cutting the cable, but it does. just put a couple dots of hot glue on each side, not on the cable, but on each side, just to lift it up a little, so when you lower the glass it doesn't crush the button on the cable, these don't match. perfectly, so I'm not too worried about that now I'm just going to hot glue these little guys together right on that edge on the inside.
You can go in there and add your hot glue. You could use E6000 if you want. I want to make sure I have it where I wanted it, but I think you know I might need to change the lights here at one time or another, so I'm just going to hot glue it on that way if you need to change the lights, you can just grab a hair dryer or something like that and loosen the glue, remove them, replace the lights and you'll still have your cute snowman back here. I'm just going to add a little border of glue here to secure this little guy. right around the center edge and like I said, it doesn't really match up on the sides here, so you don't even need to add glue there, but luckily that's where our little scarf will be fine, so now I do want you to be able to put the hat on.
I like to put everything in here first before I put the face on it, just so I know I have everything in the right place so we can put the little pit, the trick, we could wait until later. It doesn't matter, maybe I'll leave it for now, but I want to put the scarf on, so this is the little piece that I cut from the other scarf and, like I said, this one doesn't have as long of a cord, so I thought. Maybe I could put this back here like this. I'm going to hold it there with a piece of tape until I put the scarf on and that way we can cover all that extra wire, you'll never know it's there. our little scarf here and we're going to tie it to the side and that's my forehead there because I can still see my little Mark, you get lost if you don't mark it because you know it's round and you know you're not I'm going to remember where you left it with anything, so there we go, that's our front right here, so there's our little scarf.
You can knot this if you want. I just have to turn this around like this. I'm going to leave that there. like this and then that's going to hide our little battery, oh gosh, I covered my tape, okay, let me take the tape off, here we go and then you can stick this little guy up here so he can peek out. so you can turn it on and off in the back or you could put it upside down probably makes more sense, right? Yeah, let me turn this around, come on, okay, yeah, the battery is the only headache. because you don't want to see everything now look, if I turn it over there then I have all my wires visible again, do it again, this is my front, it's going to be lost.
I'm telling you, you mean it. get lost, okay, that's the front, this goes in the back here, who the hell is yelling outside? I don't know just some kids, I guess that's okay, and now we're going to do this again, guys, by trial and error, let's see what covers it. It was fine until I started playing with it, so we'll leave it as it actually was. I'll just let it peek through here. I don't think it's a big problem. Here we go. I'm just going to peek out the back a little bit, you have to find it some way or another too, um, take it out, okay, there's my front, so let's turn it over here again and you can tie it if you want.
It doesn't really matter, but it will just stay. I mean, it's not like you're going to move this little guy or anything and if you just hot glue it on, make sure you pick it up from the bottom and you're not going to grab it from the top, so I can add just a drop of glue hot to pin this scarf here because if I need to replace the scarf, I think that's going to be the easiest thing to do, here we go. "Let's just stick that little baby right there, come on now, where's my forehead?", there a foreign scarf.
I think it looks cute, so now we can put this little face here. I need to get this down here more, okay for your eyes, let's see if all of this is going to cooperate here and it will come off for me very easily. I think I want to put the nose on it first because I think I can figure out the rest from there, so let's see how well it's going to work. here with this sticky paper I need to find there goes my little tool to get these things out better here we go, so let's see where my mark is there is my center mark, okay, so it's going to go right here its little nose, easy and easy. so we can put eyes on each other, why do I only have one eye here?
I don't want to push it all the way down yet because I want to make sure I have it where I want it, this one has to come just a little further, I just put one side down at a time because you know, if you stick it all down then it's a little bit difficult, I think it's See okay, there we have our little white dots that we're going to add. here, this little one is going to be so cute, why did that come off and you don't know what are we going to hot glue this on?
Because like the back comes off, there's nothing sticky here on any of these or is that one. the sticky one I just stuck this sticky one to the table, of course, oh my gosh, you know, sometimes I'm just a fool, so there's that little part of his eye that I was lifting up because I thought it was the other one. The side is very thin, I thought it would be much thicker. This white vinyl that goes inside, you can use your Cricut, whatever, yeah, that's what it feels like, it should be the backing. Okay, we'll use them anyway.
I'm going to straighten it out here wow, I can't believe how thin this is. I really thought it was going to be a lot thicker, like black board, but it doesn't say I was going to stick the wrong thing, actually I could have. I've been better, but anyway, look, there's another mistake. I don't edit the error. UPS, you all make the mistake, we all made the mistake. I can replace it after I'm done here, it has a small dent, but that easy. It's once you discover the right side of your role. Wow, I just didn't expect it to be so thin, okay, let's get back to this project, so now we're going to take some of our little gems and give it a little bit. from mouth, let me just come out, they're all on like a big long rope, um, but they just come out individually in the cute little smile here, whoa, took off the whole rope and I might have to judge them a little strange. of my finger and let's see, just don't push anything down too far until you're sure where you want it.
I think it looks pretty good for his smile, how about a nice smile for Frosty? Yes, I have to replace it. I don't like that little dent there, ah bah, humbug, anyway, let's stick with it for now. I'm just going to let me finish this project, so now we need our little buttons here. This is something I'm going to add. a little bit of E6000 and a little bit of hot glue like I said just because I'm afraid they're going to fall off this glass after a while so add a little bit of E6000 you don't need a lot of this you know this stuff sticks. like crazy and then some hot glue, put one right there, let's get that hot glue out of there once it cools and then we just scream.
I actually think this one is dark blue, don't tell anyone it's okay, a couple of small buttons. there and there is the front of your little Frosty, and now all we have to do now is add his little hat and light them up and that's it, they're very easy to make, it's a little bit fiddly, you know, I had a bit of a tough time here and there with different things, especially these little white dots that I made. I'm still in shock that it's so thin you can almost see the black through it. I didn't expect that, but it will be fine anyway.
Okay, so let's put a little hat here, how do I look? How nice. Just put the hat on. It looks so cute. um, right there. I guess we're going to stick it there. This is really an easy project, like I said. It takes a little effort to get everything exactly how you want it, but oh how easy and how cute this little guy is. I'm going to leave it back here, dim these lights here and remove the hot glue. buttons and then we'll see how this little guy lights up. Actually, I'm going to leave the lights on right now, let me get this out of here, let's click on this, oh my gosh, look how cute this little guy is, let me.
Turn these lights off because it's really dark and rainy again today and I'm thinking we can. I love it, look how cute it is, lit up, it just shines. I don't know if you can see that sometimes it lights up really well on the camera, how nice it would look on a shelf or a mantelpiece or something like that at night. This would also be a great little gift for someone, perhaps like an assisted living who can't have a lot of candles or anything to light. to be so sweet and it's so cheap it's like one two three maybe five or six

dollar

s if you have some spare fabric or whatever and you only use a minimal amount of material for the eyes and stuff so it doesn't really even count that in um, but of course, that's if you already have something like that, but you can always substitute it with something else, just use some glitter and some lights, and he's adorable.
I wanted to get to these last year but couldn't do it. but that's it, that's my little guide for today, uh, my little project and I'll see you all next time, have a great day everyone, oh.
