Dismissal of twenty-one years. Alex Bowman, twenty-five years old. We will start from the front row of the youngest front row in history. Each driver is looking for his first Daytona five hundred. Alex Bowman was on fire here last year. They both drive Chevrolets, but behind them come the fast Fords. Kevin Harvick winner 2007. Joey Logano, one in twenty-five, and he's the Siri champion. Ricky Stenhouse Jr one here in July of the twenty-seventh.

Ryan Newman. Don't count this guy out in two thousand eight Daytona five hundred winner alongside him Defending Daytona five hundred Winter Austin Dillon forty cars to start the Daytona five hundred as you look at the second half of the starting field. Well, butterflies. Let's see if we can hear them. Well,Byron, this is Jeff from Fox Sports Boots. You got me? Yes, I didn't forget anyone. You're leading the Daytona five hundred and two green here. Tell us. I mean, how is this what we've been up to? What was it like waking up this morning? No, this morning, knowing that you are going to lead this field to green, I had the feeling of having a great racing team.
Obviously, we make this happen and we're going to ruin the week. So today we met the objectives. Things we want to tick off, and I have to get to the end of the three that Racecar does so quickly. Well, you have a lot of veterans behind you. I wonder what a young man like you has for these veterans. How are you going to show him that the young man could do it today? Yes, different last year. But this year, I really don't care what they think. I'm going to do whatever it takes for us to win.
And what happened. Well, that's amazing. We hope to have a great one ready to race here at Daytona. But first, let's take a look at Toyota's growing legacy. And what's next with Toyota? Speed into the green from the first Signature Cup Series victory in 2000, celebrating not one but two Cup championships with Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr by capturing the big American rights of twenty-six. Toyota has done more for our school. What lies beyond the next turn? My most important moment with nineteen Toyota stores. Come on. It's time for the latest news from Pit Road Begins and our all-star cast of reporters.
Uh, we'll take the square in the bottom left corner. Matt Yocum. Captain Roger Pants obtains two victories and a total of five hundred and two different pilots. Ryan Blaney would love to make him a third. He has always been raised as an old soul. He led one hundred and eighteen laps. Last year he had the best car until the accident, but he has learned a lot. He hopes to capitalize on those lessons with his first victory in the five hundred. Regan Smith. Well, Jimmy Johnson, for the first time in seventeen years, has a new crew chief in the pit and a new sponsor on the race car.
So far, so good. He won the class last week and sent a fast race car all this week, he told me as he climbed into the car. They added some extra downforce to this race car for today's race. In anticipation of these temperatures, let's hope he's strong as he attempts to get his third Daytona 500. Victory fits. Two years ago, Kyle Larson had the lead on the final lap of the Daytona 500 and ran out of gas. If he wants to win today, he will have to overcome another bad moment. When his team arrived at the track today, they found oil under the car.
They had to change the transmission. That means Larson will start from the back. He says the key is not to lose that leading group early in the race. The worst, first and even hardest proposal for Kyle Larson today. Jamie Well, Kyle Busch has everything there is to win in racing, except the Daytona 500. In fact, he wants it so much that Kyle Busch Motor Sports has a giant trophy case at his house. Well, right in the middle. There is an open gap. He is waiting for this trophy today. Five hundred tone. Kyle has already been involved in a couple of problems this week.
He qualified back. But, as always, all eighteen can never be ruled out. Very Max. Yes, Jamie's drivers in his spotter will be strategizing all day, but a lot can fall on that team. Ti slap way knows the importance of staying ahead. He's already thinking about that last trip to pit road. Teo, put your driver in front of the newsroom there. Let's take a look at our race analysis today. We'll go two hundred laps, five hundred miles. The stages will be sixty, sixty and eighty laps of the Checkered Pit. Highway speed. Fifty-five miles per hour. And Mike, look at that fuel window.
Forty-five forty-eight turns. Really important. Thanks, Larry. Three drivers will be behind. Casey Mears, Jamie McMurray and the aforementioned Kyle Larson will start at the back. The truck's pace is highway speed, sixty-five miles per hour. That's the slowest. They'll be there all day, sixteen hundred feet to the starting line, while Dale Earnhardt Jr., two-time winner of the five hundred, will make that sharp left turn toward Mike. Look at a hundred thousand people standing. Anticipating the start is competing with green flags with anyone. Building Speedy at 200 miles per hour Pole sitter Byron slid in front of his teammate Alex and Chevrolet took them to complete the first lap.
Just after a couple of turns. The pressure of the stars increases a little. You know what kind of car you have, what shape they are in for this race. I was waiting to see that green flag from Sief. How coordinated were these teammates where we saw William Byron do a great job in front of his teammate Alex Bowman in that outside lane, which has been the preferred one this week as have those four teammates, except Ricky Stenhouse Jr. was left out to form that. out of the lane. But I'm impressed with this inside of Lane, how he's holding up.
I think this will work today. I think you'll be up there. William Byron, did twelve laps here in the July race. Two Chevys in front of those three Fords with the pointers facing in and Ricky Stenhouse trying to make it happen inside. Max Bennett, Toya Max, number nineteen right behind him and another. Remember that car number 17 went wrong quickly. Talladega. Here. Restrictor plate racing. Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. Pretty good here. You know what he's saying right now, like every time we've seen with the outside. Lane has been the best Lane to come in with. And Brad, in his last previous race, told us: I don't think that's the case today.
Until now he was completely right. I think the weather conditions are hot. Slippery. That top team has been running a lot, a lot of rubber up there. Try that butt. The shortest path. Could your job. Ten houses that look pretty good. Stenhouse's side selects Byron and will give him a combined advantage. The last three take the lead, even if only behind Benedetto. I'm really impressed with Benedetta's performance in this '95 car. He's a sleeper now. There was a strategic move right there. William Byron had been running against the wall, thinking that would be what separated him from the inside lane.
He saw Ricky Stenhouse leading the inside lane. In the background. He came down the side and pushed it toward the corner, which is the fastest lane, says Denny Hamlin, the one with the most cars right now. I would say they will be the most aggressive now, and we just saw a good push format towards Benedetto to try to push Ricky Stenhouse Jr to the lead, push his twenty-two car joint hard. Missing. He was actually behind Alex Bowman already being cut from the draft. Silly ho. I got off teammate Jimmy Johnson, to pick up some slack. But look at the cafe at the front of the field that will fill these cars.
Blast a two hundred mile an hour hole in that wall of wind. Mississippi dirt track racer Olive Branch has become a super track racer, Ricky Stenhouse, when he's so good at these types of tracks with Mike right now, I think these guys were probably a little confused thinking in William Barnett. That exterior gland has been the way to go. But I just got what's going on, Ricky Stenhouse Jr told me this morning. This is the best Daytona five hundred car he's ever owned, even better than last year's car. But the biggest difference is that he knows what to do with the card this year and where he wants to place it on the court.
So far, that's pretty evident since he's not leading the group. He was on the inside, Jeff tripped him high. He now he's back. Well, what happened with Alex Bowman was that he was following his teammate, trying to do a proven scythe and a great job of Joey Logano, coming off the right side of him. I don't think Alex Bowman really thought anyone was going to be so aggressive on the outside so early in the race. But they caught him. A pleasant surprise. Matt Di Benedetto is leaving. He changed teams this year. He rose through the ranks of the Levine family, he said.
We go places. He goes in the lead. Vincent. Incredible, Mike. Two weeks ago, this race car didn't even have all the racing parts. They couldn't even start the car. They didn't have enough parts. This team has been a rebuild since last season. The driver knew the crew chief, there were different combinations of spotters and everything was done from scratch. And right now it is paying off. He's leading the Daytona five hundred. Mike Wheeler, who won the Daytona 500 with Denny Hamlin, twenty-six, the new crew chief. The first time Benedetto literally led a lap in the five hundred.
I'm too surprised that some of the more experienced drivers like you see Kevin Harvick there, maybe even Joy Logano, that these little kids get their time in the sun. He lied a little. How about third place Martin Truex in the Mike Nineteen? This is the warmest day of the speed weeks just before the car came off the grid. True Ex tilted its helmet forward and the cooling hose that goes into the helmet is too short. They quickly fixed it for a length and that, giving it enough space so that it wouldn't have any problems. He dodged the bullet early.
More clearance. Clarence to buy two. Here they come. He watches Julien's path. I saw him do that move on Alex Bowman a few laps ago. He almost made the same move through William Byron's children's will. He is not content to be in the third row right now. Guys, I'm not surprised to see two for two, because if you go back to the gate races on Thursday night in class, we were all worried that it would be a single foul. There were twenty fields of cars. This is a field of forty cars. I think we'll see a lot of this throughout the day.
I think you're right twenty only within twenty, only outside. So I think the weather has a lot to do with it. And I think these guys have been studying these careers. They ran and I think the weather made a big difference today. I think inside is the way to go. Right now it may not be your friend's, driving with change salad here quite a bit back, I really think the twenty-sixth place that tells me that after some of the moves, we saw him trying to get to the duel. He's thinking five hundred miles. I need to get there.
It's not about getting to the front right now. As if Danny was the same. Billy wouldn't take any risks, he wouldn't put his car in danger. And then he got it together and was there in a Chase Elliott type race. Toyota too, inside, and Chevrolet outside. And when we get to lap eleven, Joe Gibbs, the teams will go up to the top of the pit wall and salute J.D. Gibbs. Jokes. Zelda recently passed away due to a long-standing neurological illness. He was a co-founder, president of the Joe Gibbs Racing company, a racer himself in a former college and high school football player who wore number eleven.
So on round eleven, we salute him and his legacy. Coach Gibbs continues, but JD gives him a smile and warmth. I still felt in this whole garage area. He is someone we really miss, he really is a member of the board of directors. Sure. One of those Toyotas that has an alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing is at the front. Wow. Good. It's cheesy. The bacon fries are tremendous. I know crispy bacon is the best thing that ever happened to French fries. That? Just some fresh Oh, McDonald's World Famous fries, with the elaboration or the crispy bacon.
Since potato chips have some street cred with a whole new audience, I'll let Bacon think it was because I couldn't hear you while he was baking. Big Innovation and Bacon. They are classic MacDonalds with bacon. For a limited time only, the best thing that has happened to me is the classics for two with bacon. Try it yourself and decide. Together. Let's take a good sniff, when you have COPD, it can be hard to breathe. Then my doctor said that single court can help you breathe better starting in five minutes. It is not a substitute for a rescue inhaler for sudden symptoms.
Symbicort helps provide significant improvement to your lung function. Symbicort is for COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema. It should not be taken more than twice a day. It may increase your risk of lung infections, osteoporosis, and some eye problems. Tell your doctor if you have a heart condition or high blood pressure before taking it. Symbicort could mean a day with better breathing. Ask your doctor if simple cutting is right for you. If you can't afford your medications, AstraZeneca may be able to help you a little. A little bit from Memphis and National to Motown In my soul I love neither good nor evil.
Bucks the new Chevy Silverado. It's a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. They passed the trial. Joey Logano did drugs before with that hole in his foot. William Byron in the middle didn't help Alex's moment. His teammate will let him get on the line. It's just a matter of time, those two guys we talked about when we opened the program, they are young and have a lot of experience, veterans and those strong Fords behind them who want to take it out. Is doingall you can write on the rear bumper, Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
Trying to give it a good push. But when he got to the rear bumper of him, he allowed Joey Logano to make a good run and pick today off of Mike, you know what? We call it the sucker home because he sucks your ass off when you get a little hit like Lane, Friendless, Friendless. Well, now it's the minimum. Do they intend to pit or is it just the current fast route? Well Mike, I think we might see some drivers hit Pit Road. Remember the fuel window between forty-six and forty-eight turns? This first stage is exactly the same length as the gate race.
Sixty laps. So in Pit, you could now move on to the end of stage number one. I wouldn't be at all surprised if in the next few laps some drivers make it to pit road. Here they come. A lot of those fast Fords come to Pit Road. Regan Kevin Harvick spots the fortieth pit stall first. Stalin. Rodney Childress says he likes that Stahl is the only fuel for Kevin Harvick. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Pit They Wanted Pit Coming. Come on. But he couldn't get to the bottom of it. Joey Logano relaxes in his box. They are going to fill it with fuel.
The gas man, Chris Conklin, connected. Jordan says you're gone. Kyle Larson was a driver I saw wearing tires. Host castle. He was the only Chevrolet that came into the pits with all those boards to say. Did you notice anything about the group? I went in there. Oh, Denny Hamlin. Shoot. Turn four. I just kept it there. I don't know if he was trying to get to Pit Road. Possibly. You have a small lump. Check it out. Anything else. I'm snooping around here. Another four that did not make it to the pits. I don't know if he caught me outside and Suárez heard a gunshot.
Go. I see Denny Hamlin's wide three in the middle very close. Cody. Where was somewhere? Yes, for Bush, the car that twists in the rearview mirror, the forty he drove last year. Now it's a Can Asi racing chip from Jamie McMurray, all three guys. One, two, three Get ready, some kind of Pit robot. Everyone in different cars this year, new equipment. Riding with Ryan Priests. Fox Vice Camp Reagan. Bush will go to the pits with car number one. It will be gasoline only for Kurt, just like all the other cars. At Sean's apartments, forty-one gas, just the can stuck in the back, but it came out just in time.
Max Benedetto BubbleWallace, Washington. He started sixteen. Now up, in front. Alright guys, we're seeing a lot of drivers not pitting. I think another strategy while we have this large group would be to divide this stage into halves, thirty and thirty. This way you will get new tires to split the segment up to thirty laps and thirty. So I think that could be the strategy with this large group that stayed there. A group that big. If you just take the overall draft of this group and the speed versus Sabe, it just lands here. They will just keep winning and walking away.
Let's take a look at Daniel Suárez. There's a little problem with Pit Stone here. Well, I didn't take out that equipment. Irvan South Pit would have been a good penalty here. Korean joy, man. That would be good for his face. That will leave a scar on the hood of that Lovejoy car. Caution: I don't think those guys made it to Pit Road before Pit Road was closed. Ryan Priest Chris Buscher, his teammate Bubble Wallace Upon reaching Pit Road, they get a patch that says to go through a wall. But Ty Dillon, who stops in the area, sees how that's called First Warning.
No kilo strategy, right? When you think you have it all figured out, we have a few precautions. It clouds the water a little. And Larry, as you know, this now just favored all those guys who came in because they had already done it there. Stop there in good shape. They will stay out there. All of these cars had committee and we are going to lose valuable track position. Yeah, and the reason you pit is the reason you pit early. It's you? In the perfect world, you hope that happens. Carla joins the team and had a lot of fun putting her face on that Mustang that is going to leave its mark.
She just wiped the smile off that face. Wait on open pit road with twenty-one laps completed here at Daytona. Let's look at the facts of today's sports performance track. A tiny London was the first to win the 501st Daytona for the Brothers in 1963. Ford's most recent winner is twenty-seven-year-old Kurt Busch. Ford has fifteen victories at Daytona, five hundred and a new suit this year. Mustang Body NASCAR Series, nineteen sixty-three. Driving and relief moment for Marvin Pants. Martín suffered an accident in training with a Ferrari. I think it was. The Wood Brothers ran five miles called Short, but they ran the entire race and never changed tires.
The best pit crew in the world. All they did was fill up with gas and leave. So, a word of caution to Corey Lovejoy here with twenty-two laps completed as opposed to the drivers' five hundred at Daytona last year. Coming early and often, I think that's why there's a little bit more of a sporty factor here on the last lap in turn three. Austin negotiating with ten Amarilla. Only Harding from that team very open this time and talkative. I remember that story. Marvin Pants ran to the aid of that burning car along with Ernie Geoghan and four others pulled the driver to safety.
He ultimately received the Carnegie Medal of Freedom and you are right. From his hospital bed. He asked Linwood to put Tiny One in the car. Which brothers made London a race of five hundred. Someone broadcast quickly. The boys change tires. They just put gas. These guys will have a chance. Put four new tires on that. Be an asset here for these cats. I think there are a lot of guys who will be in the top positions on the track. I'll still be interested. It's a busy place. Car ninety-five Max Benedetto led fifteen laps, he had hoped to have pitted earlier, but he was not in a position to get down and into Pit Lane when they wanted the car to pit.
No gas problems and four times Jamie Kyle Busch in the eighteenth. But he needs more grip to be able to achieve those times. That way it lasts a little longer. Do you want to be one of them. But there are four tires. Man Siegel has already made the chassis fit virus with the car being too tight when he runs at the bottom. But it is also a way to free yourself. The weather has certainly been a factor from the beginning. Here's your Sunoco run out of the pits. Casey Mirrors, who hasn't been in a Cup car in two years, is still called up to compete.
Would you come run the Daytona five hundred miles for us? We will have a second car. He did. He is at the head. Victory. I have it. Take it with you. But way to their names. Do one thing themselves. Good year, Mordred. Okay, if you're not the guide dog, the scenario never changes. That's how it is. This is the view of any other full-size pickup truck. And this year it is deja vu again. Because only the Ford F one fifty with Thai strength military grade aluminum alloy body offers you the best in its class. You are the best in class.

Penalized for pitting.
Two earlier an uncontrolled tire blowout for B J. MacLeod, a highway speeding penalty for Michael McDowell on that yellow flag. But now, back under the green with South Ryan Blaney twelfth up, six of you have a good chance here. Forty-two. Larson, twenty-four. Shooting at ninety-five. Benedetto tries to make that thing outside go somewhere. But look, I'm very curious to see what's recent. Now that these drivers have had a chance to test their cars, see which lane works best. I think you'll see a lot of these guys, especially since there are a ton of Fords lined up at the bottom.
Just go around that yellow line for a while. Here's Bubba Wallace, going three wide down the middle is a great way to get to the front four cars driving it. It's a good way to get there if you make it. Daniels Suárez, who was left alone, weighs on the high side with that red forty-one of Ernie's. I return to one that he did not pay with his companions. They are a lot of Fords. Hey, he didn't come with them, and that took him out of sequence and out of contact with those guys. Denny Hamlin making a powerful move on the outside.
David Ragan came in the middle at thirty-eight. Jamie Alex Bowman in eighty-eight after stopping and removing four tires. He was having problems with the radio. Well, the team looked through binoculars. His spotter, Kevin Hamlin, noticed the antenna on the roof of the car, so they've been switching from one radio station to the next to see if they can fix it without getting pitted. At this time, you can hear, but there is still a bit of static squeeze play. It became three rows wide and four rows deep, especially now and during this Daytona five hundred. He will want to hear his observer with complete clarity.
Gather in front of you. Return to the middle lane three out of twenty-four. Still, the military background is clear behind those ninety-five. Three a problem. David Ragan, Kyle Larson. One and a half behind hill three forty-three. Jumping in line. You had help. There is no help for you. Still, also one. Let's check with Larry Mac for today's driving confidence brought to you for less. Yes, my first job. It's his career in the Cup. He has different shots. Chat Canals is now with William Byron in the Fortin 20 offering him a rookie as the leader of the Cup team.
They started the season well, right? They had an advantage in the Clash last weekend, but rookie Crew CI. But a veteran observer, right? Barbara has been with Jimmy Thie the entire time of her Cup career at Porter's, the spotter we have. The day is priceless, and this is undoubtedly the negative point of Jimmy Johnson. Mikey, really, you have to trust that spotter. When he tells you that everything is clear, you must be willing to accept it. I know you look in the mirror, but you have to move well. You can't hesitate. And in shifts, two or three of those cars or three-quarters of a mile away, there's a ten-person air traffic controller for a NASCAR racer and two hundred miles an hour.

Thirty-two of sixty laps are completed in the first stage. It's a three stage race, work lap thirty-three, our pole sitter William Byron, back on fourteen right now. Alex Bowman shared the front row with him, still in the top ten. Big changes and since the pit stop, Kyle Busch up six is knocking on the door of the top ten in eleventh place. Theo eleven eighteen eighteen at the bottom pushing eighty eight right behind them. They went down there trying to move it inside. Those four tires were starting to pay off for these eleven, eighteen top four tire cars and they are moving to take the lead quickly.
It's how hard it is that makes a big difference in the tires and how they feel. Get me for every chance I get of thirty-one. Kyle Busch is looking for first place and he might be right. There is all grip. This is Ronald up and fourth. Ricky Stenhouse may have had to lift a little because his car pushed him too hard. Hey, gasoline. For the most part, what I'm seeing here is that you look at all the drivers on the inside line, one twenty-two, and they all have four new tires. If you look at everyone in the outer row, which is predominantly Forge, other than the Chevrolet Chip Ganassi drivers, they are the ones who were consuming fuel before.
Car. Back inside is Eric Jones, one of those Toyotas currently sitting in seventh place. He's got a really nice job among the pack, and he's got a new Pit this year, some guys running from Joe Gibbs racing to others from Stewart Haas Racing, a Jack Man and a refueler. But at that last stop four tires got stuck, and right after, he said, I have a vibration. I'm not sure I feel like a loser. Well, it may be something internal, though. So we'll keep our eyes on the twenty-five locked in, something real when you change tires and twelve seconds for four tires, to get all those looks tight, that's an artistic six-car lot from Max Mike in the inside chase.

as Bush takes the lead. He has some help behind his teammate who killed him right there. Look, Kyle Busch, his hands. She had to make a pretty quick move with the steering wheel since those rear bumpers almost turned eighteen. But that's what you have to do. You have to be aggressive. You have to force your hand better to do that.
Also, a lot of guys get angry because Kyle Busch breaks up all the brothers and makes things go faster. Go ahead. He may have just listened to the radio and said, Hey, just tell Dad to be a little careful when he pushes me toward the kid you can get. He told us this morning that he watched yesterday's race and was surprised that there weren't more drivers willing to test the bottom line, willing to put a line on the inside and make progress. He says today wouldn't be like yesterday. You know, it's funny how it goes, but he was looking forward to seeing this kind of approach today.
He was looking forward to seeing two different lines of events outside the line. I'm not saying I'm going to stay with him all day. They might finish in the top four, so we're good right now. Thirty-seven complete laps. Kyle Busch leading in a Toyota. Now here's a look at the new Toyota super as he speeds through a life-size pinball machine. I like that. The last one to cut firewood. We've been talking about how strong sports are in numbers together, how strong they are.
I was just wondering if Cheryl was okay. Did you know? Wei needs to go talk to those Toyotas and meet up here for a bit and work together to get them the ones right now that seem to be paying off. I don't know. Or it is simply a coincidence. I think it's called good. Here. Feel good? Something good? Something correct. Well, not all Ford drivers are playing well together. We will hear from Kevin Harvick. Irvan, Ricky Stenhouse. I told him I was going in. That way we can help you try to keep a straight wheel here.
The entire production ramp went up just for one draft. Park it in the water with data from all four states here. You could see it right here. Kevin Harvick Coming right to the rear bumper Ricky Stenhouse Jr. That's Kevin Harvick, acknowledging that he can push the seventeen a stent to keep him off Lane. But every time Stenhouse moves down to come up with someone like he did, they take turns with purpose at the bottom. In a car, he simply wouldn't let Harvey line up to get close to Ricky Stenhouse. And he did it, and he would not convert it.
Not now, seven cars in front of the field. Our victim is third in the second, so here's our Bush car. I can't question the chance of winning a special edition can that Bush made from Kevin Harvick's number four car. What is Nascar's super-fast wife? Tweet your response and use content from Karna Can and Hashtag Bush. Seeing a lot of side currents when drivers try to improve their passing position with the help of air flow, they are trying to pass in the other lane. Larry Max. Well, Mike, let's use our fourth performance arrow clue to show you exactly what side drawing is.
You will see when a car approaches, you will go buy another car and you will see the car, its approach and you will see the air flow. He moves against that car right there and what he does. Watch how it starts, putting a lot of pressure on the back spore and then it opens right there. What that does is put, drag the car that you are trying to pass, and that allows it to explode. It's not that the car that passed accelerated. It just slowed down that other car. But what DW Jeff said Harvick complaining about may help Stenhouse, but he's hurting the overall line because he moves around a lot.
Larry, I'll tell you what else there is if you look at this separation from this leading group to this car right here. Mrs. Ryan, he is the first car that didn't use four tires in that last pit sequence, was able to break free and catch up with that group. But the tires are making a much bigger difference than I anticipated. There are fourteen laps left for the first stage. Kyle is ahead of the Daytona five hundred from the thirty-first starting position. Die-hard NASCAR fans. There is only one beer brewed for racing, one of them brewed by Kevin Harvick.
Twenty-eight, eight times every time Harvey wins at Kansas. Twenty three. Top five. Ending with Kevin Harvick in a historic seasonal car that became collector's edition forty. Bush can. That's how it is. As the official beer of the mass car, we chose car number four. He cut it, changed the laser, pressed it, cut it some more and shredded it some more, recycled it, shaped it, sprayed it and had this guy sign it. Wow that's impressive. Police. The Daytona Five Hundred on Fox is sponsored by Bush, the official beer of NASCAR. There is the limited edition can of Bush Carter that you can win throughout our coverage today. Let's go to your corner of calamity in Daytona. Jamie McMurray arrived late at Pailin when Bubble Wallace got tangled and put us under the second caution of the day. Bush. Where is number one? The black number one on the right of your screen for Bush and the forty-three? You could see that he turned on his back and the smell of seventeen fell. He and seventeen touch each other a little here.
Yeah, they seemed like Kurt thought he could set them straight. Get in front of Ricky Stenhouse Jr. he just hadn't gotten to that point yet. Jamie McMurray, in his last five hundred, could not avoid forty-three over Wallace. He didn't know where they were going to go and attack Wallace with a little push. Tyler Reddick's part of him sends him right into Kurt Busch's, which didn't see Kurt Busch making many moves, and his car was actually running pretty well. He made a move, trying to move a little further. It didn't work from behind. He could see himself in Jonah.
Wait. I almost wonder if it wasn't the air that built up. We see this very often. These cars are unstable. They are in the rear. Where he just puts a little bit of air he hits it on that left rear when Kurt Busch was spinning. That didn't start. Put it on its side. Ricky Stenhouse said on his radio that he didn't make contact. I think we take a closer look. See if first contact here. I felt like there might be a little bit, and I don't even know from this angle that it was going to be tense.
Um, it's so close now. Just there. They definitely make contact. I think before that it seemed like air to me. There's so much force from that era, two hundred miles an hour surrounding the front bumpers of these cars. It's almost like taking two hands right there. Check it out. I don't think I saw where that was later. Time stopped him a little. Very close. Pit road is busy as the leaders enter. Regan, from Harvard Pit Pit, wrote his biggest complaint about this freezing of cars. The guys in front aren't going to stay in a straight line so you can push and push them with four tires to get Kevin Harvick, Max and Ryan Blaney in, he said.
The balance is not so good. In this tour, you can see that they are going to make an adjustment to the chassis. They go on the left side. His teammate, twenty-two. Joey Logano is at the Jackman. He is Is that Jack below? Because clearance is so low with these restrictor plate cars, he's not there. Nineteen. You could see the work going on there. Most of the Furniture Row Racing team made that transition to the nineteen. Jokes. Racing However, a couple of new crew members. On the wall, Matt Tiff has only two tires. The new two front row motorsport rookies for the team.
He will be the leader over Ryan Blaney and Kevin Harvick. Let's get the definitive look. Ricky Stenhouse said he didn't hit number one right there, I'd say he did.they believe. Hoping for something stronger on that pickup trap. It's not just any truck. It's the new Chevy Silverado twenty nineteen. That's very specific. Enjoy. Silverado is completely redesigned. Inside. Did he or didn't he? This view is from the Goodyear blimp. Right here now. Kurt Busch is relaxing a little bit just because of what Eric talked about. But boy if they touch him, he's hardly Mike. We have said many times to go to the corner and texted you back about these cards they spent. I think maybe he just texted. Kyle Busch has probably led the most laps in the Daytona five hundred.
He came away from the victory he wants, except for Tony Stewart, and leaves his teammate Denny Hamlin to restart on green from the outside and move slowly in front of Hamlin. A little surprised that the Joe Gibbs Racing teammates didn't coordinate to try to get everyone in line. You see Eric Jones leading that outside of Lane. He knows how to get it down here. One here last July, they told him with six laps left in the first stage. Here's Hamlin's radio before the restart. Wow, are they talking about that? Let her in. Maybe take the top part because it's heavy and, uh, open twenty-four.
It is discussed here for sure. Twenty for what? Twenty and then, yeah. Well, J R Racing and Hendrick Motor Sports. And that is an uneasy alliance of those Chevrolet and Toyota. That's confirmation that they've definitely been talking, and that, to me, says a lot about what they're up against. They felt they couldn't get the job done with their own alliances. Guys, there was a lot of talk in the garage this morning about two organizations that you wouldn't normally expect to work together. It's pretty obvious which two organizations are now saying they have to do this in order to compete with today's sports.
I think it's a monkey. Look, a monkey does when you see what these poor guys have done. Amazing guy last fall, around here, last couple of weeks. Last week you have to know what is happening and you have to react and I think what we are seeing. We're seeing a great reaction here. Back outside. Joey Logano at number twenty-two. Ryan Blaney, his Penske teammate in twelve. We've seen what this combination could do. Those two, nose to tail. That's what won the duels here on Thursday. Twenty-two pretty bad cars, even alone. You seem to be on the outside here and he is able to maintain and maybe even make this happen on his own.
He will get twelve to help. Maybe that will help. Don't help him. Pit Matt tipped the car thirty-six, making his first Cup start after a couple of years in the Xfinity Series. Do not forget. Less than three years ago, he underwent surgery to remove a brain tumor, so it's a miracle he's running in some places. But it wasn't like that. Many months later, today he was back in the Car Xfinity Series, making his first start in the Daytona five hundred miles. I got to the front using only two tires at that stop. Good move. There are three laps left until the end of the first stage.
This race takes place in three stages. Points are awarded at the end of each stage and then we will make pit stops and restart for the next one. Logano has trapped the lead line there in one spot and isn't content to stay on Rider's line on the outside of the Chase nine. Elliott very fast. He is working outside and has done a lot of it alone. He brings Dr. Bland too. He looks like he's going to get inside a cell in the back right away. Four others behind him. Daniel Suarez. I'm going to lose a lot of places and I won't be able to get down here.
Twenty Logano again. Going outside by Ricky Stenhouse. Well, look, Otto in Blaney. That's the team that won their duel race here Thursday night. Joey Logano with a big push from Ryan Lady, you're close with two laps left in each stage. I like the way you have twenty-two cars. You can't go out alone and avoid the cars in front. He seems to have a very, very fast partner who drives very well when they put tires on Ricky Stenhouse and Daniels Suárez stopping behind the sports cars. Every point is valuable. Throughout the season. We saw how important it was to be able to get points, getting phase points is playoff points.
So these guys are going to keep going to try to make something happen. I don't know if they'll be content to wait in line. Put it under seventeen for Ricky Stenhouse and his actions. Very good movement on his part. One more turn and they will wave a green and white checkered pattern. First stage Next points. He knows how hard he had to earn his way to that championship form without the points that some of the others he faced eighty-eight, got ahead of him and broke his momentum. Um, I don't know how that will affect him in the third turn here.
Look where he goes. Do you remember the whole week? We said: You can't pass. If you can. Look at Kyle Larson, forty-two. Where did he come from? At home and abroad. He arrives at the mountain where we come to see the twenty-second of him. I know he wants to go down. I don't think he can do it, but it's what he'd like to do to finish the first leg in line. Kyle Busch, Alex Bowman, Joey Logano, Daniels Suárez and Ryan Blaney. I read a story that advanced five hundred words as if dull and asleep. Take that paper.

All the buses that are parked on the field, the people here camping, all the people in the stands. This may be the largest crowd I've seen here in a long time. In general. Grandstand inside the field, everything. And what a spectacle you're seeing so far, this is a fantastic Daytona five hundred. Alex Bowman, Corey Lovejoy, Parker, Kligerman, Matt Tipped or a late stop before going on stage, so are Jamie McMurray and Kurt Busch. Now Larry, the first thirteen drivers, didn't stop, uh, he chased. Elliott came in and made a second pit stop. What happened? Hey, come in and stop four times, Mike.
But what happened? Rear tire changers. The air hose got caught in the front tire bracket of his Jones Twenty Crew, so they didn't tighten all the lug nuts. That's why he had to go back to Pit Road, you'll see it right there. He'll come over and see how his air hose is wrapped around the tire carrier. He's still pulling on it, and that's why they had to go back in because we're not on all the lugs. We are not tied. So Chase Elliott will reset thirty-four when we go back to green. The first thirteen drivers did not stop because they stopped again under the yellow flag on lap fifty.
Larry was pointing there, he says those changes concern the tires. They go through that wall. They with that hose to keep it clean. A zircon. They're coming around the corner. It hit him and caught the car behind him in Eric Jones' tire changer behind him. Four fours at the front of the field. Logano, Suárez Blaney and Harvey Daniels. Henrik the Lonely Chevrolet. The rest of the top ten are all Fords. Castillo, Dylan and Reagan. Those drivers who didn't stop the defecting boys from defecting from the outer space helmets and hitting each otherface. The second stage was about to get its first green flag.
As the pilots approach, Geico reboots its own script swallowed by Joey Logano inside and Kevin Harvick's foursome. Victory by points, traveling to forty-one cars for the first time Kurt Busch hit last year and leads the Daytona five hundred. . It will be very exciting for him. I think a potent combination is all these guys in John Blaney. There are a lot of really good race cars right there. Daniel hits to put his foot in the middle by Paul Menard It's the only Chevrolet and it's up there among these boards right now. That would be an NFL. Not for much longer.
The stores almost had an accident just before that warning. He was behind or around Michael McDowell. Mcdow let go and cursed, he had to avoid it. He scrapes the wall a little, a little wear on the tires on the right side. Observer Tony Ray is still Crew. They're not too worried, but there was definitely a bit of who was coming after him. Michael McDonald, maybe this time. Ryan Newman. I'll tell you what the forty-one cars are to work hard on that outside. I think the fastest car here has always been difficult to avoid. But maybe with help they could do it.
Perhaps the spores could make it toward the front of Chevrolet's first Toyota in the ninety-fifth races. Benedetto. I don't know if he had any problems in a pit stop early in the race, but he stayed back. He now he finds his way back to the front on the outside. Three wide. That ninety-five cores. Oh, my Queen Crew in that car. That thing is going somewhere. Voice that goes to the front outside. Scottson. Help from Kyle Busch Fella, Toyota teammate behind him. It's a funny thing, after having run a little sixty, we are here. That? We have sixteen laughs and now we start to move a little, get a little more comfortable.
You start moving from one lane to another, you start trying things wrong. First, six turns on your belt, your big experiment a little. Let me see what I have here. Six cars down trying to get away on the short drive around five. Joey Logano, Ryan Lane, Daniels Rather Kevin Harvick, Eric Al Merola and Paul Menard. Remember all those cars stayed out at the last caution. They didn't come looking for tires. The state finisher, Matt Benedetto, is actually the first car under that yellow flag, taking four tires on the road under the yellow flag. Chase Elliot's air hose problem with the tire changer.
Here is Jaime. And this is Kevin Harris. This is the one that had passed So over the rope and he is still changing tires. What does she see? Yes, you always have to finish to stop. No matter what happens, you have a chase, Erik fight for everything and get out of here. They are usually big boxes here in Daytona. But when those guys were so close. You were wrong there. Arrest! Shape! Get it done. Aside from some hurt feelings, I'm doing fine. Then we are fine. We're still out. Work made by. Thank you. Could you hear Bucks put it around his neck?
Their drivers at night. Mike, I think when everything is equal, everyone's tires are pretty similar. I think we're seeing what we thought we might see looking for six of them in front of Pierre right now in his Daniels, which is hooked up and looks nice. Henrik first Chevy in seventh place. Eric Jones, the first Toyota of the night. Stay here. You won't miss a minute of our live broadcast from Starlite. Too little, too late, Sokka Bam, cockpit room. s were the lucky ones. The passage all new. Tomorrow at nine at Fox, seventy-four laps will be completed while we had the dual-line fuel window open to get to the end of stage two. There were twelve enforcers, but two penalties for speeding. Paul Menard and David Ragan. We're speeding down pit road under Mike Green. It always amazes me that he went down to fifty-five, making two hundred dollars down to fifty-five on pit road. I'm surprised we don't have more speeders than Hamlet has his Pit box.
They didn't want to pit alone like they were right now, but they didn't fill the car with fuel at the last pit stop so they had no choice. Praise for him. You'll have to hope you find a writing partner when he returns. Leading the field, he met Di Benedetto from California, he said jokingly. When he was a child, he came to the conclusion that he should be adopted because no one in his family had racing experience and all he wanted to do was compete. Last year he drove for a smaller team and had the opportunity to move up into Levine family racing.
Bob Levine made a big investment in an alliance with you racing to the Toyota car fast enough to lead the five hundred. As we always said, that he was a great winner, that he got the most out of his team. So he should weigh, he always felt that he had a first place, he said that they had a car that could run ahead, that he was a driver to do the job today. I think there are a lot of smiles on people's faces seeing this guy get this opportunity, get this opportunity that he's worked so hard for.
I can't wait to see how the 2019 season unfolds under Benedetto and team manager Mike Wheeler. I think that's the key. Jeff got an amazing cure and gained a lot of experience. Mike Wheeler has a calling. I think it will be a good combination. Well, and as you noted earlier in the broadcast, as Wheeler, twenty-six, winner of the Daytona five hundred, crew chief with Denny Hamlin and I asked him about winning that five hundred, he said, I don't remember much about that because we were too busy trying to prepare for the next race. He said: I'll make sure to enjoy it a lot more.
This would happen if they won, but they know they have a steep mountain to climb, starting this team, rebuilding it from last year. And he is challenged. But, he said, we have good people and we have them in the right place, and we are seeing some of that today. Wheeler came to the Cup Series from NASCAR Modifieds at Long Island with seventy-seven complete laps. How about a quick word from Duracell, this trusted brand that was fast? Matthew Benedetto, shot by Kyle Busch, Toyota leads the Chevrolets who started on the front row. Alex Bowman of Tucson, Arizona.
William Byron of Charlotte, Michigan, Eric Jones, in a Toyota, rounds out the top five thirty-three cars on the lead lap. Chase Elliott moved back up to sixth place in the previous running water temperature and rose over two hundred and seventy degrees. He was poking his nose, trying to stay calm. At that last stop, he saw the problem with the steward twenty. He went back to the Pit Pit because, you know, all that time, they didn't have a chance to remove the piece of tape on the left side of the grill to get more air and keep it cool.
Bush on pit road. They have to clean the back of that car from the damage caused by the accident before NASCAR Lane returns to the race track. Seventy-nine complete turns. What should we do? I know you have a good idea. Pit. They're kinda there a couple times faster. They're there behind that thing. He stopped in the pits splashing Martin Truex's goal, trying to win his first five hundred. He came closer than anyone without winning even a tenth of a second. Miguel. Several teams arrive at pit road as Doc does to complete the race. A Few by Martin Truex Jr was one of those.
They talked about it in the field before. You're twenty-two when he made the fuel of it, only he got into the box of it. That's why. Let him take one or two million more seconds trying not to skid those tires that would have to be changed. Regan. Jimmy Johnson is the box of him. Well, his racing cars. The men a little too loose in three and four because of the solar fuel only for him too. Johnson was screaming. Turning onto pit road, I actually had to hit the brakes to get down to the mandatory speed of fifty-five miles per hour on pit road.
We saw it in the duels. How crucial it was to get to the entire pit road and execute in the pits. If you were to go out and be at it, those are all the things you figure out in the previous races, Clementi or races. So you can hit that pit road today and be on target. Yesterday we saw guys practicing, Coming Pit practice. Many guys who just check their life, make sure that they were in six cars in three Toyota Re Chevrolet. Grass Valley, Max Benedetto of California. What a great story. Changing your luck. He came out.
He announced that he was leaving thirty-two last season before having a trip scheduled. Convinced that way. Call these predictions. Who will win? Who will be the rival to beat today? I don't think Benedetto is a guy who can be a dark horse. He could be a witness, right? That's true, but he impressed us and started. The St Tony five hundred is the tallest Toyota. Five more people. This is Matty. Yusa Bank is here to help. She brings the burgers, buns and beans. A sap. We do not charge monthly service fees. This way you will have more money for your barbecue and maybe some dessert.

I just got some new and old body washes for myself. But for you, they are for me. Relax with lavender. Look, there are my things too. Is for me. This body wash is for you. No what are you doing? Is for me. Barley is the soul of Budweiser. And barley doesn't grow just anywhere. It comes from the heart of America, a place where the earth stretches to the sky and where our farming family has called home for five generations, long before a Budweiser left our brewery.
He is raised on this land. Every year. Team Rubicon roster to help veterans provide aid to communities affected by natural disasters. Do it for those who need your help. Mountain Dew is proud to support these efforts. The team will become Let's do it. I destroyed my grandmother and I still win the Daytona five hundred. It's a joke? I'd like to think that Rex wouldn't be anyone, but, um, I do anything else. I shaved my head for a year and five hundred people every day went completely bald. Rocket. I want five hundred. I looked weird, weird, loving and sporty in a Sunoco suite.
A fan? Ask Kyle Busch. What is your strategy? With five laps to go, he says, Rick laughed at everyone, including: Well, Eric Jones. It might look weird if he does that. But, man, you'll have that trophy in fifth place in Chase number twenty of him. Elliott, was it first thing this morning? I talked to him in the elevator and he's on his way to an apparition. He talked about his car and maybe hoped he had more friends to recruit with. The he needed. He became very encouraged. About a topic. You have to take his dog. This week he will go to the beach, he has the opportunity to do many things.
He hasn't had the best of the weak, so that might have been one of the best parts of this week. But he is having a darkness. Get five hundred right now. When all else fails, you get your best friend, who is your dog? It's time for our next Bush Carter can. Trivia question for a chance to win a special edition Bush can made from Kevin Harvick's number four car. What is the only track that has been on the NASCAR Cup schedule since 1949? Tweet your response. Using the Hashtag Carter can boost the contest. Can I use the stats guys to help me answer that?
Go ahead and read it. we are not alie. If you cut that, take off that board. Every time there is a question, I look and you have the answer. We are doing trivia and final practice. Yesterday on FX, one of Jeff knew the answer to every question because they provided it over his shoulder for the last one, which he couldn't read. At first I thought it was Paul Goldfish. And now D.W. thinks I cheated everything to give him back the trophy he got from Chase Silly, that's all the latest trace. The only good year in the construction of Charlotte Motor Speedway.
Now look at Denny Hamlin, who's back on Twenty First Now. Regan. Guys, we have a little story in the making about Denny Hamlin's race car. Listen to this. They didn't start here trying to save a little fuel. Is anyone trying to solve it? But we don't think we'll have a man with a little wine and chicken broth who will have to go on Wow five fewer dates right now. That's huge. That's a lot, Larry. Guys, when I look at our top six drivers right now, Matt Benedetto in car ninety-five all the way back to chase Elliott.
Tonight. They are the only six drivers. That's not Pit anymore. I felt like maybe they were going to split the bet in half, which would leave it right now on the next lap or two. But if I'm one of his team members, I look at the lap times. Stay in uniform like them. They are cutting laps at more than 320 kilometers per hour. I would run until I had the Well, which would be around one or five. Why break something good first? Good? Larry? This group of Chevys and Toyotas are half a second faster than any group of Fords on the track right now, and the leading group is getting off the cars in front, but the group in front of it is sniffing them out a bit.
Did this simply play into his ability to go down pit road and back out, potentially leading an impressive conversation between the driver, the twenty-four-way, and Byron and Chad? Can I ask you to fix the car throughout the race, but good understanding and communication from your teammate Theeighty. Eight? Bowman asked Byron to give him some space on three and four because he doesn't want his cars on the blue side to go wide. Last time Chad was able to do chores at twenty-four. The five hundredth car was in 1997. He went to Victory Lane with Jeff Court almost a year before William Byron was born.
Pretty impressive. What Jack and now this has been doing, if you think about it in the sport, it will be in a manufacturer tire changer. And now watch it for the seventh time. When he worked for Dion, I drove the only car. I was changing tires. They always said: I want to be a team leader, Chan. I just don't know if you have the personality and behavior for it. You are always way above. But he learned to control those emotions and he is the master. I don't care what you say, ninety-three complete turns were thirty-three turns of these sixty.
Stage two and we'll take you side by side. Do you make your vows come true or a Whitesnake song? Ideo. If you drive, you get a motorcycle. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent. Tomorrow. Forty fall the first three months in advance. Everyone is marking fire seats. They all have new paint schemes. The crew is returning to career mode in the career store. We are building new cars. We have to live together for thirty-six weekends. People are going to get angry. There's plenty of tracking guys from New Jersey with you live for those intense situations. Second place is just the first loser.
There's not much here except the usual. What if we spice things up a little? Alexa, what happens if we turn that up? What happens if we leave the main theme, Toyota's new rap? Let's go to places Wei finally got to with our exciting Finney. Finally, Fox Wednesday. Get ready for a rollercoaster of emotions. Oh my god, it's amazing in America's total pop culture obsession, you're too handsome for someone in a straitjacket to make it to the final five to expose him. Mask Singer all new Wednesday on Fox. With talk all week in Daytona about how fast Fords are.
Matt Benedetto's Toyota has led the most laps so far. He has been at the helm twice for a total of thirty-eight of the last ninety-six. That's one way to scratch your head. He's had a great week, there's no doubt about that. But we didn't see it coming. And what's even more surprising is how few cars there are in that draft that lived up to Benedetto's lead. However, they are catching this huge back here in front of him that they often resort to. So let's open the Forum for our big Debate, sponsored by McDonald's, about drivers having a drought at Daytona.
Martin Truex, Kyle Bush, Guerrero Clinton. Brad is down almost double digits, but Brad is trying to win the great American race. Who arrives first? I thought I was going to have a great day today, but so far it hasn't materialized out of nowhere. You really thought Clint Boyer did a great job, I thought, even though he didn't win that duel, I thought he learned a lot from what Joe and Donna did to get that advantage, and I would take that into account. today's race. Right now, Kyle Busch looks pretty good in second place. Jamie Kyle Busch content right now running behind Matt Benedetto.
Now remember Matt Benedetto and Kyle Busch, for once. Joe Gibbs Racing teammates go back to 2009, 2010, when they raced in the Xfinity. Siri, Matt and Kyle, good friends and friendly to each other. They know they can trust each other and, you know, right now they're radioing with his team, telling them not only what the Max cars do but what he's doing. He said he has a four wheeler that converts into three. Important, but it is interesting. James. During the duels, Matt gave Kyle Busch a rest. I will need identification to enter and Matt gave him space to do so.
Kyle Busch texted Matt Benedetto afterwards and told him. Thanks for that, Matt told me today. That's the kind of thing that comes back to help you when it's really needed. Maybe, like the Daytona five hundred, guys, you just weren't around Karl Laursen. I had just spent a miserable week here. I don't know what's wrong with that car, but it hasn't been going up to speed. But Cal Arts isn't giving up. Fighting hard on the outside trying to side with Jeff Kyle Busch right now. Matt Benedetto has a big Daytona five hundred, but he's looking ahead and a group of cars going.
What am I going to do when he gets there? In the middle of the sixty-one Daytona five hundred? Do you think that little bit of protein and lots of carbs at the event told J. J. What's up with Michael? It's about taking action. I think so. Definitely working. Whatever Jeff comes to see what Matt is doing with all these cars in front of him. I have to be very, very cautious. here and made his way here. There's certainly no reason to take any chances right now, knowing that one Pit will stop coming, I think it's Sandy Crew boss Mike Wheeler, Cena.
He'll probably laugh, although many of you may do that right now. Denny Hamlin, who used to work for a crew chief, looks south in the direction Wait a minute. You know, it's interesting. Benedetto, Mike Wheeler and his spotter, Doug Campbell, got together and watched the video because it's the first time the three of them have worked together. And they talked during different grieving situations about how they would react. What the observer would call him and what Matt expected to hear from the observer during those situations. I don't know if they expected to hear it while they were leading, but this is a situation exactly like the one they prepared for.
This is stressful right here. Now you have a car witness race. You're in the middle of a bunch of cars here that you're trying to lap and you have to be careful, but aggressive. You're in rush hour right there. It's ninety-five. He is your leader. Look. Att the scrum he is involved in. You know, guys, what I would be doing now is the six Potters, all three for these Toyota drivers and three for those Shiver Shiver Lane Hendrik drivers. They need to communicate right now. Now is a good time to come in and take pit road because the window really is there, there.
Now they need to get into pit road. But did you see right there? How aggressive was the forty-two Larson in trying to maintain the lead? Powell pushed all the way to take the lead from Matt Benedetto and dedicate it to steals. Is Benedetta going in? He's getting aggressive. You just don't know where to go. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, a diet. Rolling the dice right here, Mike, that's exactly what? Attaboy, William. Byron Spotter told him we'll launch in about six or seven laps. So we have to get here very soon. You cannot enter the pits from the outside lane.
One good thing about this card pack is that it saves fuel. No way. You'll be able to run wide right now. You have to press the accelerator. So you can save a little bit of fuel, healthy or not, but you could do it. And if you're wondering at home, why would these guys go up there? Just move. That depended on the dental brand. They want to put as many of these cars one lap down as possible, because if the yellow flag comes out or if they pit, you're going to see more of what happens because you have less cars blocked, you have to compete for the lead in the race. wind.
Later. I want to help this radio thing about Larson, but it's over now. Benedetto at forty-two, right in the middle. Ryan Priest, rookie on the outside, big crowd at his hometown train station, Berlin, Connecticut. Tavern on the Tracks, everyone watching today. This situation here has disaster written all over its dusty you. Well, then why not Pit now? Six of them lined up at the bottom. You're right, Larry. They simply move into position. Everyone wants Pit together. They said: Let's get out of this and go to Pit Road. Here's a Kyle Busch radio. Wait. If we need him to be a path that takes us ahead of others, we might let him go.
David Ragan next door, eleven and fourteen to go this time because there's still a lot of traffic. They were good cars. They are trying to laugh. You are a great car. Easy leader of that pack that comes. He was sure they would come that time the way they checked from that team. Use discretion here. Truck in front of all this land inside that. Casey Mears. How did all those cars get through? The cars that approached these guys with Casey Mears gave them stall time today. Caution while waiting for an incident. Linderman ran in with five hundred types of rubble rubbed on his left run.
There's the Goodyear, obviously separate from Casey's number twenty-seven mirrors. The second is still a racing car. I could stop again. Clue. The car could be broken down. Those ninety-six cars in the way we are were waving. Take a look at the progress. The contact between the two was Click. It's very difficult to distinguish that ankle. Let's continue with the leaders about Russia. Well, that's what. Yes, right there. Twenty-seven years resulted in ninety-six. Kligerman came down, but he definitely made contact. They are going to take turns. One could be wrong. Look, look, but it looks like maybe the back end was moving like a track.
Barbara Baker is the one who isn't too happy about it. Come here and get some. I want to show you. What effect does this have for drivers who have not yet pitted? Well, they got a Pit mic because, remember, they came into the pits with fifty-eight laps left on this stage if they had a Pit, and I know you don't have a crystal ball, but if they had a mic, they would be able to be there and probably keep the leadership of this race. But I think because of all the cars that were in front of them, they will be very far back in the pack, which is the few laps left until the end of the second stage.
Yes, but if they put four tires on later, I think they go through their Preeti Quick group because the other guys' tires are very old. Clint Boyer's radio takes fourteenth place here. For now we are left out. Here goes our way. We'll get a point in a couple of days. If not, we will not receive any. And there was no way to come fuel your tires right now, right there on stage and prepare for the third segment. Wait on him. I agree. You want to win the Daytona five hundred you want against playoff points, it's not worth the bet.
Do what you have to do. Prepare again for the end of the race. Your tires. They are so old and have been there for so long. And I'm pretty sure the others who are leading the fall will have four tires. And I think those four tires, because of the difference in grip level, will make a big difference. Even with twelve laps behind. Eleven laboratories go. They will need eight or ten turns to make it work. So I don't know, it would be interesting to see. When we're back in the green here, tipped Max will get the free pass.
It was the first car one lap down at the time of the yellow flag. Running twenty-third, one hundred and seven laps were completed at Daytona. Max Di Benedetto Kyle Busch came out of the pit and rode with you. Alex Bowman, WilliamByron Chase, Elliott and other Spences, who had Matt Benedetto leading the most laps, passed the halfway mark here in the Daytona five hundred. But they have been rock solid. They didn't want that precaution when he fell. Kerr has been good. It will be a change of four tires. No other fit for the Benedetto Max Jamie Alex moment in eighty-eight had some damage to the right rear quarter panel.
Before they fixed it in his car. Just like that he loses four tires. Arrest. Meanwhile, eighteen Kyle Busch before you became a champion at jumping the air pressure for the tires in your surroundings and you could handle a slightly stricter lateral air pressure change in the twenty-four races outside the pits. Kyle Busch came out first on that caution, a huge benefit for Denny Hamlin. He had just passed Benedetto to get back on the lead lap before the caution flag came out, so they will be fighting for the lead. Field arrives ten laps from the end of the second stage. Third-generation runner Ryan Blaney leads Let's hit the studio for a monster-energy run break. Hey, thanks a lot, Mike Shannon spoke here with Ricky Craven and Bobby Laban E. You know, we talked all week if you thought that was the end result of this race. And I think that came and came very soon. It's the fourth consecutive day of racing and that always has an effect on the track. The Toyotas were relatively quiet during the week. Today they are competing with authority. They have really good handling, maybe a little more downforce.
Larry touched on that before and it's paying dividends right now. The heat of the racetrack, the ambient temperature that people haven't raised. It's on the career side. And that's what we've seen. So it's so good to see it. And I'm glad we're doing that right now. It's also interesting to see those Chevy and Toyota work together against the Ford. Let's show you how things have gone. Of course. We started the race early on lap eleven. There was a tribute lap for J. D. Gibbs, who lost his life last month, and four-year-old Daniels is one of the former Joe Gibbs Racing.
The team, forty-one, has a problem in the pit circuit. Now he's with Stewart Haas Racing and Korea will enjoy that face. Was not. It wasn't good, was it? We had an incident. And then, of course, is this guy exactly the Tristan house you already know? Um, Kurt Busch hanging around on the outside, a little bit of contact. I mean, it was barely, but it's still a little bit. Of course, I think so, yes, of course. Kyle Busch wins the first stage and we are currently under yellow flag as well. We'll go back to Mike. Thanks, Shannon.
Ricky Bobby Back in the studio. Ryan Blaney, third generation runner. His grandfather Louie, a Great Sprint driver. His father, Dave, an Outlaws world champion and Cup regular, was very close to a couple in Atlanta. A bribe for Bill Davis and Ryan Blaney. Now with Team Penske at the helm. So you call him one of those Ricky, Bobby guys, or is it because they're Ricky and Bobby? Yes, you notice it. Thank you. What a different Daytona five hundred for Ryan Blaney A. compared to a year ago. He led the most laps in last year's Daytona 500. Let's see if you can lead some of those laps here today.
Here they arrive at the Geico reset zone. The first four cars did not stop blaming Kozlowski. Fat on Larson. Can Powell RCR take much credit for how hard he fought to hold on to that lead? Laugh. Now they just hope they can keep him under control for the rest of his stay here. Did you know? I'm impressed with those two cars because now he has his teammate in front of him in both cars. We've talked a lot about Lasky throughout the race. But here he is. He finally he managed to get to the front and stay there or not, but he now he's up there.
Will you talk to him in the pre-race? One thing. Driver number two does not lack confidence. Well, that's for sure, especially on these tracks. Penske Mustangs up front inside Blaney outside Kieslowski and Blaney can't get up now. He wasn't sure to start making the move, but then he realized that he could stop in front of his eyes with enough force to ward off oncoming drivers. Those cars. You ride with Brian Priest saying, looking forward to the priest Ryan with the great work he's been doing today. Don't get into trouble. Our onboard advisor camera provides Nissen with incredible shots.
Do you want to know what it's like to be in front? The first Daytona five hundred Daytona five hundred? That's all. That team is. Another team has made a big investment in their team this year. Better equipment. Better people, more technology, says Brian. Grandpa built modified winning cars. His father competes with recent models. He grew up in his father's garage, giving him tools. Look at that place. You talk about all the different obstacles. You're going to face the challenges here at the Daytona Five Hundred Miles right now. One of them is that Blair and that son, coming out of the windshield on duty for Mikey, show him momentarily.
But for a second or so, you're blind. You can't see anything in front of you getting back into shape. Chase Elliott working under the number twenty Eric Jones Chevy in a Toyota there, David Reagan just ahead on the outside and the thirty-eight we spoke to again hadn't done a great job in the pits on older tires. William Byron has those aggressive tires. C now Erica Merola Coming into the picture right now, it's not working out very well for Larson, nor is it working out very well for Joey Logano with that yellow, twenty to four. He was behind rookie Ryan Priests when they put him in the middle and he backs off like that.
Just think of El Merola. I mean, he had this race last year until the third turn, and here you have a good chance, to take the lead. I just have a feeling. Maybe Priest Ryan had a great moment there when they went to shuffle it. He had to retire because he lost many places. They are in a hurry to consult with Matt about our leader, Mike Ryan. Blaney told me that he will always feel like a member of the Wood Brunner family. Ryan had a favorite image of the patriarchal glands from his hosting days. Shortly after his passing, he sent that image to his helmet painter, Jason Beam, who meticulously recreated Glenn's helmet with every Ryan detail, down to the stitching and the leather look on the chin strap. .
Ah, heartfelt tribute for such a special man. The last hill. But I saw that he didn't have my photo. Member for Jimmy Johnson. He had a helmet. He's going to get eighty-three victories, and Bobby Ellis? How they are both eighty for my photo. Once hot bodies for each other. I saw that helmet. One way to do it. I want to know. Have you ever worn leather? It helps, you know, to run on the beach in leather helmets. But I started my uniform, fireproof solution here one year, with five laps left in the second stage. Larry, the pits will close with two to go.
Expect anyone to go green before them. I don't fight because the next stage is totally different because, remember, it will be eighty laps and everyone will have to pit once. I feel like you might see some guy left out. But if I were the crew chief on any of these cars, I'd have new four strokes because I might have to lap it forty times once we get back. Grayson in the third stage. How about the third place car? Eric al Merola, Jamie. So last week, Mike Ertel Merola posted a photo on Twitter of the moment he hit the wall on the final lap of the Daytona 500.
Dollars, said redemption. I spoke with him and his team. They brought the same Ran set at Talladega last fall and won that race, so they were pretty confident coming in. But in this tenth part, it is also improving. If it caused a big mess right now, it's because that's how all things are here. Talk to him this morning, he said. I just want to have the opportunity to be in the front group on the last lap. Do you know why, Mike? Because consider that Air Camero finished fifth in points last time. Any race. I think it really helped build confidence in the team.
Let him believe in him. Thank you all for avoiding overheating. That's Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Or Harvey one of those cars. Yeah, maybe things are complicated with these guys. They were very close in the draft and we know what happens when you are that type. There simply won't be any air coming to that radio. It's going to start very hot. I don't see you from behind immediately. See Well, Mr. Cerrado. Ryan Blaney led one hundred and eighteen laps last year, the most of any driver and one stage from a year ago. Kyle Busch was our stage one winner in the Toyota Ford Mustang that's out front right now in the top two spots.
The first three, the Chevrolet four cut and cut trying to make something happen here as they get to the stage. William Byron in the twenty for our poleman looking at Brad Kozlowski. He has a race on both of them, but he holds off his team to get to the line at his last finish there. I think those four tires are going to pay off here. If Eric Alma rolled his bumper, he could catch Ryan Blaney here. I think they are going to box him. States of the last round too. Everyone fighting for stage points right here.
It's a lane. He has to worry about himself, like help, but he just can't do it. He could jeopardize his stage victory. He goes with what he has. William, Byron Shelley was there and did a great job blocking the bottom lane. Above, Ryan Blaney takes it out of the green and white Checkered Stage Two in his Penske because he helped you. Can you have your teammates? But when that means he's going to hurt you, you only have to worry about yourself. Ryan Blaney with the Mustang in front with eighty laps remaining in the Daytona five hundred.
He is our winner of the second stage. We have to do what they say he found. Whatever party you have back, we'll take care of business Wow. Good. It's cheesy. The bacon fries are tremendous. I know crispy bacon is the best thing that ever happened to French fries. That? Mr Fries showcases Donald's world famous fries with frequent bacon. Or is crispy bacon giving the fry some street cred with a whole new audience? I'm going to let Bacon think it was because I couldn't hear you over the Big and Bacon Bacon baking innovation. McDonald's classics with bacon.

The second stage of the Daytona five hundred completes seventy-nine laps to go. Ryan Blaney one. Hesecond state, last year, he repeats that position in his Penske, and here they come to Pit's fraud. Leave the overtaken cars Aaron, Jamie and Eric Al Merola in the top ten. The call is the hot dogs who want to see what that means. He's a little tight, but definitely better, since he ran in the front car and handles better than Brad has also blocked him.
He said he's a little relaxed, but overall the car is better. So when the sun starts to set, the cars are better. Max and William, age twenty-four, when he says: This is the best the car has driven all day. You really didn't want many changes, if any. Twelve of Ryan Blaney's services are now complete. Blame me a little for being next to each other. On the side of the three, they made two different changes. Trying to reinforce it in our states to beat Ryan Blaney. Hey, Ryan, this is Jeff. Fox sports betting. You got me. Well, congratulations on that.
States to win, men. It's been a wild ride. It has certainly been a very entertaining step from up here. Uh, tell us how you guys are doing down there. No, congratulations on that scenario, Watery. I'm really happy. You know, you are happy or you are not training in a job. And I thought, the bottom is a really bad lane. You're like shaking. Sometimes you fall, dragged by Karl inflicted on the days. And then the background came back. So it's been a really exciting way to go from back to front now in the back, so I think Arman is four months old.
Wade, wait there. We have a hand behind us trying to form a team. What are you doing in the next booth? Oh, we're definitely enjoying it. I'm sure the fans are at home. Way still has thirty cars on the lead lap. The nine cars in front did not pit under this caution flag at the end of the second stage.
Getting ready for the restart. Here is our air coverage provided by Goodyear When your battles win your name. Good year. The official tire of NASCAR polesitter William Byron on a Chevrolet with Eric Forward at the front. Stenhouse, Harvick, Suarez and Ford. Jimmy Johnson, Chevy Logano and Boyer and Mustangs Chase Elliott in a Camaro. Max Benedetto in a Toyota. Let your first ten go through the restart zone and the green flag. I think there might be a gang here. You have that hole inside Lane. Daryl offers four more Kevin Harvicks on the outside, but he has Jimmy Johnson Chase Elliott there.
They can help Johnson in forty-eight, just two cars behind Byron. If only he could get help from him. His Chevrolet teammate, Kevin Harvick, behind the barn. And that's a pretty good show right off the bat. Good move. Well, don't forget about our voting center. His car has shown the most speed in any of our practice sessions. Now it's about getting help and having a good car. Being out front will definitely help with all those things. Fresh air. And when you are in front, crouch as low as possible. Everything is working perfectly on your front. Our stage winner, Ryan Blaney, returns in twelve.
Remember, he was one of the cars that stopped that bright yellow and blue car in the outside lane. His team just tweeted a photo of a five dollar bill they found stuck to the grill when the car placed fifth. That's not luck. It sure beats a lucky penny. Take the five dollars. Actually? Hot dog pizza wrapper, boy. Hot dog shooting now. Side by side for the lead. The finish looks a lot like this when we get down to it because these guys are running so close together, side by side, neither Lane seems to have an advantage.
I think we heard Blaney say it pretty well. You think the background forgets that he's actually regressing. I go back to the beginning of this career and think that the young lawyer said goodbye and went to school for a bit. We talked about that, that he could do that. He wasn't drafted into Lane the first time he was drafted. Now, this time he did it. Papa Bear's side camera takes the lead. Instead of going to a commercial break, let's take you to Toyota here with Eric Jones' winner Hear Daytona from last July. Fourteen shades, but Benedetto continues to impress.
He's in the top ten right now, eighth, and he's right there with the veterans and they're all doing a great job. Pitwell in the image of him has done a phenomenal job. Well, rock solid again. At the last stop, Lee was put on left side tires along with gas. "They'll have to make one more stop and I talked to Mike Wheeler, the team manager," he said. We're only going to need a can of fuel at that last stop. So this time I just took the double direction on the left side. If everything works as planned, we'll take the right side with a can of fuel at the last stop and hopefully that will get us where we need to be.
Kyle Busch in the top ten, there's Denny Hamlin, who bounced back to fifteenth right now. Hamlin had the advantage of being just ahead of the leader when the caution flag came out. Remember, they are having some trouble on pit road getting the car full of fuel. We'll try to find out if they have everything at that last pit stop. Well, at twenty-one, car nut Mark Church Jr. returns to the outside lane. Paul Menard is shot around him. And we will take you side by side. The super cool toe has twelve on the back. Super is back and better than ever.
And I was really jealous of any of my friends on I had a super road and I drove one because finally getting back to those scar circuits is going to be really cool too, getting the chance to drive the super. Now I'm going to get to see one, on the race track it's really amazing, I'm really excited to have super back and I can't wait to take part in the race. It will be very fun. I'm looking forward to that and I hope I can take it to Victory Lane. Check out the new Super next Saturday in Atlanta with the Siri worn out and thanks to Toyota for that failed competition segment.
William Byron has his hands full with the Kevin Harvick layoffs. Henrik Cheviot's teammate. Jimmy Johnson is trying to get out there to help Byron get a small lead there. Look, I was way behind the pack, but that Chevy right now I think he's running pretty fast. He's working both sides of the street. Kevin Harvick in the second CART final push can trivia question for a chance to win a special edition that Bush can make with Kevin Harvick's number four car. At which racetrack did Kevin Harvick win his first race with Bush? He has the main sponsor of him.
Tweet your response. Use the Hashtag car for the Cannes and Hashtag Bush contest? Michael, take something else that's happening. It's five fifteen detractors cooling down. Some of the slopes are starting to get a little shaded. That's going to change the way these cars drive. That could be a benefit for selling trucks with handling problems. It could be a benefit for some of these guys that just got hired. Good day. Good day to work in your favor, sure, but Ryan Lane is in that group. I mean, I think for me now it's all about what's going to happen in this final stage.
Four tires and as much fuel as you can get. It will only help you put less fuel into it. On to your next stop, Regan. Just before the final caution, we saw a number four with the number seventeen car, Ricky Stenhouse Jr, lined up with Kevin Harvick. Some smoke was coming out of one of those cars due to the steam coming out of the engine. It was the car of seventeen Ricky Stenhouse Jr. That doesn't worry them. Temperatures dropped, but the four-car Kevin Harvick also had a temperature spike right there. Something to keep in mind is that this race comes to the end and things get more complicated.
Well, his attempts cool down. That will help that condition. But listen more. You can put the grill on these cars and close faster. That will go away and that's what we're trying to do. The biggest movement since the last reset. Ryan Newman. It's up to you, heretic David Ragan, Palm in our cars tithe between the thirties or the lead lap. But think about this. Here's how he's doing with the Coca Cola driver family. Daniels Suarez and Joey Logano, both in the top ten. Logano led eleven laps today. Denny Hamlin right up there, in the middle of the lead lap. With Kyle Larson, Ryan Newman and last year's winner Austin Dillon still on the lead lap here six years ago, William Byron, the race leader, had never sat in a race car.
He had been sitting at home in front of his computer for several years. In I Racing, his father said: You really want to try this. You bet I do. There are two guys that I think have soul using one in the Rhine and the other in Blaney. So they have much more experience than their age should allow them to have. I think it's about growing in your career and your family helps you see the fourteen here.
We'll see. Clint Boyer on top makes a great run to the outside, picks out Logano. He lets go a little. He sees himself reaching forty-eight. Lower. The pirates continue to lead this race, he'll have to fight House, not some guy who's content to be there a few rows behind. He's making big moves. This is a mentally exhausting year. You are constantly making decisions. And your partner never gets a change to take physical risks. Your muscles may not give up, but your brain is constantly working, thinking about my next move. Now anticipating his childhood hero, Jimmy Johnson, in William Byron's Mirror, Jimmy Johnson almost got rid of Kevin Harvick. There Teo chose not to really risk it at that moment. It's probably a smart move at this point in the race, but it's getting close to the rear bumper of twenty-four William Byron, his teammates.
That sounds pretty exciting right now. Harvick, trying to tell Matt to bring Benedetto to the front with William Byron leading the Daytona five hundred with fifty-eight laps to go from his teammate Jimmy Johnson. My car has a cup holder to hold this deliciousness. Coker's call is probably driving with one hand and watching the Daytona five hundred, it's an encouraging time to treat advanced lung cancer. Mike Wheeler is Matt Benedetto's team. CI The first time Denny Hamlin and Mike Wheeler won. Lane was here at Daytona a couple of years ago, keeping an eye on that underperforming kid because he's doing a great job today. Benedetto Last week, Kevin Harvick's crew chief Rodney Children had Pit's real strategy for winning the class. They didn't take advantage of that and put him in front.
He told me today that he keeps that car in front all day as he already has. Joey Logano made the winning move on the final lap here Thursday night. He has finished in the top six in the last four five-hundreds, including his lane twenty-fifth extra credit win. A bank wants to see fifty-two turns to go. Jimmy Johnson was picked up on those three drivers. At Daytona, five hundred rookies show up anywhere. Just go. Fifty-one of them just came into the back room and turned it into that group that took the whole left panel of Jimmy Johnson's car and there's his car. They're slowing it down trying to get a pair of forties on the bottom. Yes, he wants his heresy to be put aside. This right here. Quarter panel, man. What an incredible filming scene. The rubble that we could see. The forty-eight's rear bumper is stuck in the floor pan of that Reddick car that went into Johnson's like a cheese grater and just took the entire look of what was left.

The Daytona Five Hundred at Fox is sponsored by Toyota. Let's Go places and by Geico, official partner of NASCAR. Bad day for Rick Ware Racing Rick Son Cody in fifty-two and BJ McLeod in fifty-one. There's the twenty-fourth William Byron staying out and all is well and order now on Coming Pit Street. Until the cars further back come to attention and MacLeod gets tangled. Reddick is picked up in the bleached green car and crashes into Jimmy Johnson and four CarsDirect. Really unfortunate. I'm still trying to figure out where the lack of communication is between Jimmy Johnson's forty-eight, our leader, William Byron's twenty; you would have thought they would have clashed right there.
Oh my God, it has a big impact on the forty-eight, but it goes all the way up and into the rear bumper of the seventeen and into the side of the Stenhouse. Larry Mac. Many things are missing on the back left side of Jimmy Johnson's number forty-eight. What can they do? Well, it's going to be a disaster, Mike, because we've been looking at it from different camera angles. And their biggest problem is that I don't see how the hell they're going to get fuel for that car. That is the most important. They will have to work at home.
Remember, they can't replace the side panel under the vehicle's damage policy, but they must put that fuel receptacle where they can fill it. See this fuller was thrown forward on the left side here. Lots of damage. Larry looks to me like the dry fuel receptacle is still his yacht hanging at an odd angle. But could they feed it that way? Yes, Mike will have to be supported by a beast, because there is a lot of pressure when you try to activate that fuel. Can you see him doing it here? They are interesting here. That? What's it gonna be?
And he saw it there. I think someone was holding me down while I was trying to hook that can. What will be interesting with the strategy here? Remember what I said at the beginning of the program's crew chief's strategy for getting his driver up front: Everyone has to pit here. I think you want four times. But don't be surprised if you can see stops from Cem to Tower. Thanks, Larry. Now, to answer Jeff's question, let's hear from the William Byron team. Keep it in the seventh. He could be entering the pits. Arriving too late to make two fingers in the window.
Arriving at the pits. But he didn't do it casually, so I don't think he'll come. Well, they're keeping a secret. I'm not going to get hit from behind. Nobody knew. So what I'm wondering about this is that I think the forty-eight wanted to come with the seventeen and Pit together. But I don't know how William Byron is supposed to see it. Everything that happened during a period for that is a very difficult decision to make. If you don't care how experienced you are to make that call and try to see someone stick their hand out the window behind you, that needs to be communicated among observers and also on the road.
Yes, he was the leader of the race. They are going to pull this car if it loses fuel from the dry brake apparatus. Pit road is open for the leaders, and here they come. Regan. Kevin Harvick only had one request, he said. All I want is track position for my race car and a quick pit stop. There are ninety-five. A morning Benedetto. He has led the most laps. Today he will enter the pits from third. Everything is fine, he says. It will be perfect. Sides and gas until the end. For ninety-five. Jamie Tile first, twenty-nine came out a little cynically loose.
Otherwise, a good quick stop from Matt twenty-four. They are going to go for four tires. To top it off, feel eighteen, eleven, twelve. Everything goes. Ah, a bit of trouble on the left, the rear end finally moving away. Ah, many problems. Who said Kyle Busch was a way to know he had the best pit crew on pit road? They have proven it time and time again. They just demonstrated it right here. I told you he was lying in wait. A lot of damage, but there are still many cars fighting to win the Daytona five hundred. Only one film surprises audiences around the world.
Three unique sensations. Fighting with my Family is the first big twenty-nineteen movie that ends up doing bingo. Guys, that's still a big plate. It's a field. The true story. What advice would you give us? What do we want to be next? You don't worry about being next, you can be first. Are you OK? You can't just hang out with rocks. You want to get up and cheer for Dwayne Johnson. How are you? Yes, don't do it. I'm sorry. Fighting with my family. Rated PG thirteen. Okay, if you're not the guide dog, the scenario never changes. That's why this is the view for any other full-size pickup truck.
And this year, it's deja vu again. Because only the Ford F one fifty with Thai strength military grade aluminum alloy body offers you the best in its class. You are the best in class. Useful load. You know, I think Jeff is going to think he's going to get in there. Show. I thought you already told me. You said you were really good.
Curry. I did not say that. I said I cared. Oh, you did it, Carrie. Okay, looks good. And you saw that scowl on Martin Rex's face too quickly. Entering through pit road. So was Ryan Newman. And Austin Dillon had too many men behind the wall. The defending Daytona five hundred champion here is the Radioactive Little Daytona five hundred. Five hundred miles. Forty drivers going over two hundred miles per hour. There will only be one man fulfilling a dream in the end. I love you. I'm proud of these veterans who hustled and got these little kids to school right from the start in this Daytona five-hundred.
I have them there, all of them. Have a nice day after you know how to do it. God take care of him. The path faces the laundry room. Any green flags? Green flag. Damn! Here's the one that's busted here. Back back! I'm fucking things up. But I'll get it. Yes, he did it. Nothing. I did everything. The work right there. I was worried you'd get on the crab and try to stay out of it. Is that you were going to say that Those running Radioactive is my favorite feature in a NASCAR race Until the weekdays, at six in the afternoon the f s I want every Tuesday radioactive.
Oh I love it. Knock Wow! Did you find out that? Does Jimmie Johnson take a pit road penalty? Yes, what happens is that the refueler is only allowed to refuel the car, and I think what I heard was that the car backed up into a refueling field. Grab some tape or something to work on the car. I can not do this. So Jimmy Johnson is held in the pits to check it out with the guys. A quick call from Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Elastic Brian Patty to back him up. After that car was hit, he was going to return to the race track.
They backed him up. Service that race car. Minimal damage to his car. That's how he ended up with this whole track position just now. Brian Pattie is very fast. William Byron lost forty-four laps today, but he starts eighteenth after a long stop. Now ready to go. Michael McDowell in the front row. Motorsports for that team moved out of Statesville, North Carolina, closer to NASCAR's center in Charlotte to have larger facilities because they expanded to a three-car team this year with Matt Tift. But here's the Glendale, Arizona, native up front, with Jamie McMurray on one of Spire Motor Sports' slash chip basket rides running a damaged car, as Jamie talked about during the telecast and free race next week, he changes the aspiration suit for the business suit and joins. our tradition of the Fox Sports NASCAR team.
Of course, you won't know how McDow got this clue. He was the one who survived reaching pit road. I entered pit road before the yellow flag came out. Did the four tires stop him and all that carnage that was happening around him? Now he is the leader. It's the first time he's scored a good five hundred from your racing plate. It's been a tough day for Kurt Busch. He's eleven laps off the pace, but he's done something great that we want to talk about this season. Curtis partnered with the Veterans Ticket Foundation to form K B's 100-ticket giveaway.
Kurt is paying for and giving away one hundred tickets to each NASCAR race this season to current and former military members. For more information, visit vet tix dot org. There were thirty-two hundred applications for the one hundred tickets for the Daytona five hundred, and Watkins Glen International has already stepped up and said they will add one hundred tickets to Kurt's hundred. What a great gesture! I agree. Well, maybe theThirty-four McDowells did not cross the line before closing pit road. They thought he was the leader. I know he was on pit road, but maybe that cost came to light for you just before he crossed the line.
We had a couple of top ten finishes in the five hundreds. Although I don't think that will help many. Both Michael McDowell and Ricky Stenhouse, have they returned for that reason? So have Murray actually entered the Pit. I believe in that latte before all that massacre happened, and that's why he's the leader. Because that's exactly what happened. He Pit itl at one fifty-eight and we're looking right now. Michael McDowell. He did not reach the bright road of the Intern Pit. He was red when he got to the line. Thanks, Larry. This time it's going green. Thirty-three left.
This will be a punishment for someone. I don't know who they're going to give you. I saw him unexpectedly yesterday. When they liked this, they were penalized. You must be too aligned on restarts. You're supposed to be anyway, it looks like someone must have been nine distances away. Look at the damage on the right front of that number. Forty. Jamie McMurray. Can you believe he's leading the Daytona 500? No I can not. I don't know if he'll stay that long. I don't think you'll be wearing it for long, Mike. That's a lot of damage and you can keep up pretty good, but it'll be hard to stay out.
Wouldn't that be his last race here at the Daytona Five Hundred? He has won this race before. He knows how to draft, but he has a lot of damage. That damage doesn't stop them too much. He could stay there. You can't see the damage from the driver's seat to Mike, in this race right now with just a few laps to go. Not for a while and three crazy wives. We've seen three wide open all day. What we have? Three wives. So much for a single row. We better get our Benedetta while we're outside. They're turning around Lane on the remaining 12:32 laps.
It's time to go. It's me ninety-five. That goes along the track at number ninety-five, up there on the road, the first number ninety-five. I just thought about that. The last three recent ones. Start without penalty. Good news for someone. This is when things get stressful. You feel the vice tight man. Danny Hamlin. Nice side shot on the side panel. Jamie Murray shoots towards the lead plane at mid-twelve. He has help from Menard and Joey Bush. Police. McMurray sleeps there a little. A big push from Jones's teammate behind him. But as soon as you say no one will go there, he is one of the best in your Toyota.
Denny Hamlin, the leader's style. I haven't talked about Alex. Where did he come from? There he is, up there for a second, right behind me. A long, long time ago, like fifty or sixty. Denny Hamlin did not win any races. Last year. He won the five hundred and sixteen, beating Martin Tricks to the line by a few centimeters. A change of mind because we spoke with Mike, we are going to Benedetto. So you know, there's a lot of pressure on Denny Hamlin right now. Wouldn't that be something if you go back to Victory Lane and it's the day that could be something right now, when five hundred guys recover, man goes crazy and moves?
Wow. Bowman was a quick move and I don't think I've been in a restrictive plate lately. That somewhere somehow. Somehow, Denny Hamlin said the factor is pretty good on these restrictor plate tracks. These will be the last restrictor plate races in this era of NASCAR. Starting in Atlanta next week. We moved with motor package or conical space. Things will be different, Michael. Only eighty five hundred attacks. It's probably at least two or three hundred. They're more PMs and I think I've seen them all day. The temperature has cooled the slopes. Cool down. These letters are flying that drivers are much more aggressive.
Right now, we're seeing a lot more open threes looking for seeding, big moves, pushing each other. The tips of the track go down like you said, W and the track has a lot of grip right now, which allows these drivers to be much more aggressive. I think there is some urgency now. We have twenty-eight point five laps left. But he has the power of him against him because Denny Hamlin's teammate, they're actually two teammates, on Lane's side. Here comes William Byron, behind his teammate Alex Bowman, twenty-four, forty-eight twenty-four. It's fast, very fast. They could be the flames that Sam Job carried.
Jeff Gordon Exponents. That of William Byron. It's a very cool race car, Mike, but it might be checking out now for a lot of credit. That driver behind the wheel, the car. You have to drive a pretty dog on the track towards Bree on the backstretch, and probably right on time. We catch our breath. Seventy-four and twenty-six laps to go. First precaution of the day. There's our Fox Sports drone on the backstretch. Much of that drainage area is now paved. That's for sure for security reasons. Those cars take your breath away. Mercy, cool full moon shot from that drone on Saturday nights on short runways.
That's a bad omen. It leads to a lot of crashing into things. I don't think it has any effect on super speed. I guess you might think you just might. Everyone can catch their breath. And all week, the story has been about Joey Logano's Got Everybody whip. He has the fastest cars. Penske cars are the cars of the future. Those from Ford will join. Everyone will run to the front. And what is happening? Hendricks, Chevrolets and Joe Gibbs. The Toyotas form a temporary alliance to run together in the first part of this race. Do you remember when Joe Gibbs founded his racing team?
Who was he for? For tips on how to do that? Rick Hendrick. Well, that's it getting back together today. If you had to choose a Toyota Ford or a Chevy to win this race, I couldn't choose between the three of you, I couldn't do it. But you know what? Nobody knows what happens behind closed doors. And I have to think that the Hendrick Boys and the Give Boys could have gotten together at some point last night or this morning and said, Look, we have to do something. Who is Ford to attack? So let's work together and we will get a result.
Yeah, we were sitting thirty laps from the end and I think what you said is my temporary temp. I think that alliance is temporary, but it has certainly worked very well for them so far. All right, we'll open pit road under this caution flag for debris. Here it is, on the backstretch. Well, Larry makes this change everything. He is really dead. Miguel. We have twenty-nine drivers on the lead lap and there is no way. Remember what I said at the beginning of the show? Track position, track position. And that's exactly what rookie Cup crew chief Chris Gabe Hart did with Denny Hammond.
He fueled Lee. Let's leave the last trip to Pit Road. Maybe if yours say fifty or less, yeah, come get four new tires. But you know what? For the boys in front, your bed is made. You might as well pack the Pit gear. Well, drivers, do you want tires or track position? Well, right now. Take track position because I think it's very critical. I think I'm tired. That factor disappeared when the track cooled. I think the tires on the cars are good enough to win this race, so you have to have track position. That's the key.
Joey Logano comes along with Ryan Priests chasing Elliott Reddick with six cars to pit road at MacLeod, Kligerman on that list and still thirty cars on the lead lap. We'll take you on a double stop for caution pit stops at Daytona. Are you going to lead or are you going to be led? I'm going to let myself get carried away by the routine. We will take a different route. You have to work hard, create your own path to the top. Where are you going? The new RAM 1500, Motor Trend's twenty-nineteen truck of the year, averages ten thousand seven sixty-seven and total values at Select all new twenty-nineteen RAM models one thousand five hundred at dealer weekend Stop your waist .
Do you have a major improvement? NASCAR. You have three days to see what all the rumors, cheers, confessions and victories are about. Mark your calendar to get the ticket. Guardian five hundred, from March 8 to 10. Get the best remaining tickets now. A dot com SM Raceway. Then we do Carioca and you are going to sing. Jamie, this is your house. I know it's not much, but it's my home, right? Kids, scans. Weren't your friends coming? Thiss One is small like a child. Seriously, it's nice to be surrounded by what's most important. Home and car mistake from the progressive Oh, thirty pieces.
Oh no, I couldn't four years ago, they conquered the world. They are back. Forty drivers, three months in advance. We have to live together for thirty-six weeks. Three. Toyota leads and Chevy leads four. Ford's with twenty-four laps remaining in the Daytona five hundred. Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch up front. It has been an eventful day. Do not follow the leader's day under any circumstances. First precaution. Corey Lovejoy, Tyra Turn twenty, then in the lamp fifty. Ricky Stenhouse may or may not have played Kirk's number one. Push. Push picked up Bubble Wallace, Jamie McMurray and Austin at the end of lap sixty of the first stage.
Kyle Busch takes the stage victory with his Toyota from Alex Bowman. Ryan Blaney, for the second year in a row, is the winner of the second stage and then the two Ricks, where the cars collide with Tyler Reddick and Jimmy Johnson, causing a great calamity. A sixty turn, ripping off the rear left corner of Johnson's car. One seventy-four. Be careful with debris. And here we are ready to turn green for the final stretch, which could be up to twenty-three laps until the checkered flag. It could be Jeff, and I don't know how many more precautions. Thank you in your way.
He thinks too well. They will become increasingly aggressive in the most important race of your career. The most important race of the year. You see that trophy and the checkered flag in your hand. But we all know what happens when the horses start going for local leaders Hamlin and Toyota. The first Chevy is Byron, and for the first sport there is David Reagan in sixth place, who got a sponsor for this race when he auctioned off Thief for the lead. But the bot lane has prevailed. And look at those three complete Toyotas connected inside and in front.
Theo Cortina Boyer's booth. Right rear. He almost made David and Reagan almost made David Ragan a great driver, both drivers failed to break a great record. It's very, very, very good on these restrictor plate tracks. In fact, he won a couple of them, so he knows what he's doing. Derrick Jones inside. He has a woman who I think poor Tony has a problem with. Eric Jones is fading. Twenty-four, we got stuck behind twenty with a bunch of spots. Racing surface. No fuel pressure for Eric Tones. Rest for the young driver from Michigan. Watch out for that red and white.
Twenty-one. That's the Wood Brothers car. They won the show five times. Call. Minard tries to make something happen, but at the moment he has no friends inside. Paul, watch out for Jamie McMurray. He comes around the outside of the pit and doesn't come out of turn four. And right in the mix in six Looking for gold number eight for Richard Childress Racing, that team celebrating its golden anniversary. Daniels Emmerich one. The Legends Million at Charlotte Motor Speedway to help launch his career. The Xfinity, Siri's and is now called the Cup Series, replacing Brian Newman and Benedetto six to McDow himself.
It's a minority twenty twenty one nights. I mean, those guys have been in a field at the end of the day. We talked about how William Byron was behind the twenties. They are very Jones when he had the problems of him in the third fourth position. All the way back now. Twenty-fifth position. Way talking about this all week. I've been side by side all day, but the previous races found the top lane. Why choose twenty two? W Well, now set it to Wow, he's been a bad boy. Good week at all. Next. That car has not been very competitive.
This week, Larson was eighteen years old. There was no contact with another car, I think he had been hanging on to that thing all day. I don't know if anyone got into this or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. They just had a very good car. Do you see what happened here? See Larson believe in this area. Yes, that's him. I think it's a tire that started to fail, which looks to me like maybe a left rear tire was starting to fail. I saw tire debris behind the car as he headed into the bottom lane.
He was trying to get out of the way. Have position. That happens. And what happened? He did a pretty good job. I haven't wrecked that car much. Well, you've had a lot of practice today and you're almost home on who's doing it. So that helps. Jimmie Johnson gets the free pass for the second time in a row. That left three Martians looking down. I think that's what he was doing. And you see the car start to come loose right here, turn left or turn right. Obviously he made contact with maybe the front fendersomeone's right, on the right side, because that's why those good years are over.
The left defense ended. Probably cut into the side wall. Here comes a car that we will all get out of. William Byron among those facing this warning. Miguel. They will work on the balance of the twenty-four. You can see the adjustment handle on both sides. Significant crank on the right side. You dropped four tires outside the top twenty and you are documented. It's a great opportunity to roll the dice, get new tires and try to regroup. Eight. Caution flag of the day. There are only eighteen laps left in the Daytona five hundred. Denny Hamlin is their leader.
For die-hard NASCAR fans. Only one beer is brewed for the races. No one came out of Kevin Harvick's twenty-eight times with wins at Kansas, twenty-three in the top five. Ending with Kevin Harvick in a historic car of the season that became a collector's edition of forty. Bush can. That's right, like the official beer of NASCAR, but it took the number four car. He cut it, changed the laser, pressed it, cut it some more, and another one shredded it. He recycled it and melted it, molded it, sprayed it and had this guy sign it. Wow, that's awesome cop.
I didn't break that part of forty historic Collector's Edition tins for forty incredible years. My car. You reached NASCAR fans everywhere. Greetings, official NASA beer, it's like a field in the back immediately. Daytona Beach Airport in the background. Air cover left you in Goodyear When your battles win your name. Good year. Official NASCAR Tire The last nine Daytona five hundred have had nine different winners. McMurray, Kensi, Johnson, Burkhardt, Logano, Hamlet Course, Dylan. The career record is ten, set between two thousand and twenty-one eleven. The race leader with twenty to go has only won once in the last twenty Daytona five hundreds and only four tens have one Like what?
What an incredible day this would be if the eleven cars you won this race from the tribute we paid to JD when he started the race, Denny Hamlin City would win one hundred and eleven dollars forever. Happy today. An incredibly emotional day returns the green with sixteen years to go. I'm surprised Jamie McMurray has forty cars out there. How can you keep up with Fender? Wait to stay awake? There are eight from Daniel Hammer, which gives him a good close behind right away. But you have to believe that they are harming that thing that kills forty cars.
It was one of our fancy cars and practices. Remember Murray, Joey Logano and Twenty getting a little impatient at the top trying to hit a three? Here it goes again. Brian Neuman right in front, there's nothing up there. Go to the middle. Nothing there. Not much rib boy. What a move by Joe Logan, his car stuck to the race charge. Very good, Priest, with his almost like E second idol. New man. Go there. You are cleaning your leaves. McMurray. That was his goal, to surpass McMurray's forty with damage. A lot of things happening right now are a place to go.
You just found a small opening. He's going to put that thing in there. But right now, you don't really have many rooms that offer the yellow line. Three four. I agree, Darryl, but he has to go further and he knows it. Watch this. Kevin Harvick comes out. He needs some receivers or someone to go with him. He won't be able to do it alone. Up there. Double yellow line. That means you can't pass, like on the highway. You cannot drop the left side tires below those two yellow stripes to advance position or you will be penalized.
We saw this in the duels we see now. Kevin Harvick's. Caution. The baby makes contact to the left. Nine. Caution of the day. Team Penske's Brad Keselowski with thirteen to go. Jamie and Brad left front damage earlier, but thought they had it fixed. And now he said: I don't have a starter. You see him waving his hands. So he was stuck there right now. I can't get that car back on track to get back to the pits. Another one of our previous champions who had never won this race before. But the favorites that go with Larry with the Elektronik engine management systems in these cars can recycle the entire system and then try to reset it.
You can, but it's a little more difficult. Easier said than done. But yes, you can recycle it and it will turn back on. But I don't know what's going to happen here, Mike. And what I also saw on the

replay

here was that he was sideways when he came into turn four. Yes, there. I think he had the left rear wheel down. That's what it seemed like. Ah, he apparently he contacted someone. He cut that left rear wheel. Look, there's only banking right here. He saved him a bit and at least stopped him from entering the outside wall, he just turns it around.
It's a good job of sticking out of the wall and causing more damage. They already have that car on. I think they took him out of his tenth attempt to win the five hundred. Brad Kozlowski. He has been a champion of this sport but he has not won the five hundred here. Watch the tar spark up to the edge. I got all the flaps of anything in the roof labs that had flaps, all of that stuff designed to counteract uplift. Make sure these cars stay on the ground when turned sideways into the wind at high speed.
That's a lot of rib rash, there it is. Twelve laps left. Twenty-nine cars on the lead lap, plus Eric Jones, who will get the bye. Mike, I pulled out my racial trends folder from 2019 and this is what I have. If we look at the last ten days, in total five hundred, we will run again, probably with about nine or ten laps to go. But in the last ten five hundred, the average of the last yellow flag is the last one ninety-three with seven to go. And in those ten races, Mike, we had four overtimes, including the one from a year ago.
There were twelve laps left and one hundred thousand fans were in those stands at the start of the race. I don't see any empty ones. Nobody will leave because they know what can happen in the last lap of the Daytona five. I don't know why they bought a stand-up CD from Ray Stark. I'm telling you right here in front of us, these people almost never sit down to rest at this time. Get ready for an incredible finale next week in Atlanta. New engine package. New aerodynamic package for Cup cars What will happen at Atlanta Motor Speedway next Sunday on Fox?
I can't wait to find out what a great showcase of what we have to look forward to. Two thousand and nineteen. This was the best Daytona five hundred I've seen in a long time. It's not even over yet. And Mike the Aero package because of the horsepower reduction and everything they did to the cars they think NASCAR believes. I think teams may even believe we'll be able to see this type of racing in Atlanta next week. Herd races. Let's get in the studio with Shannon Spake, Ricky and Bobby. You love that. Don't you weigh? I like it too.
Alright. At the beginning of the show, I was talking to Ricky and we were talking about the forms and how strong plate racing has been. But you said Toyota and I said: Don't you mean forward? And you said: No Toyota. It seems like this is turning out to be a prediction of yours. Yes, the cars have been very, very stable at the bottom. Denny Hamlin has instincts. A feeling of being able to lead the draft. Obviously, Kyle Busch has accepted that. And then he would find himself with a newcomer to the equation. Benedetto. He now he will line up four.
So he will be the benefit of Denny or Kyle. Depending on the line Denny takes. This appears to be a Toyota in case you get arrested. And I thought we Chevrolets would be up there. And Byron. Alex Bowman. William ran into trouble when Erik had fuel pressure problems. So those guys are out of it. But will they be able to return? Then I do not know. Can the force return to the ship? He'll be back up there. Oh, he'll be fine. Mike, take us home. Shape. Here we go. Eleven missing. Right now they will take the green.
Come to go. And in the last twelve Daytona five hundred, the leader in attendance has won two of them. Clint Boyer among the fourteen, third. We hear. Obviously Lane broke back there. I got good cars for it. You'll have to wait, wannabe anyone. Talking to an observer Brett Griffin. And I think that's based on the qualifying race. We saw where he felt like breaking down. Griffin didn't give him a Clinton Clint Boyer. Enough notice When? When Logano dove as he did, Denny Hamlin chose the outside lane against Kyle's votes for what could be the final restart.
I think God wanted to wake up like this. We are talking about the great American race of the Daytona Five Hundred. I don't think it's over yet, bro. Come on. He's not Debbie Downer. Five hundred. Oh, no, no, he's going to be incredibly crazy. Yes, Denny Hamlin has to go up and block Matt Benedetto. Keep that Toyota behind him. Here comes Call Bush with a push from within. He reminds me of the class, the same kind of carnage we saw where these cars were going everywhere, lots of damage. They all reached their third birthday. Will that ruin everything sometimes?
Sometimes speeches. I'm speechless, you know? There are only those pleasant stories that are built in a career. And boy, Benedetto was doing an incredible job. So let's go to the Goodyear blimp to get the driver out or try to go back to the pit room and look at the outside lane. Benedetto and Paul Menard. Paul Menard With a pretty good push to the back of the toe, DiBenedetto gets to the right back of him. Oh yeah, that's starting to change a little. He has it on the right back and then picks up Menard. Logano just misses it, but the entire outside lane and half of the inside driver and this is exactly what we were talking about.
At this point in the race, you can already begin to savor victory in the Daytona five hundred. You want to see that checkered flag and you will do anything to get it. And you know you have to be more aggressive with those erasers that look exactly like the crash. I mean, all those cars. By the third turn, all those cars were crumpled. Slaton on the track was the spark of the planet. It's a lot like the February 17 clash and it's too much like the 4th of July. Some fireworks everywhere. Yes, and really and truly. It was a poem, Menard.
He gave Benedetto a little shell, but he was on the outside, on the right side, and that just made Benedetto the outside wall. And then it was a different situation than what we saw in the class between Minard and Jimmy Johnson. But it was something similar when we heard the twenty-one Menard's spotter say, Well, he zig-zagged and we acted. And in this case, Menard told his team over the radio, I just hit him too hard. I mean, what are you going to do? It's the end of the race. You're trying to help that guy. You're trying to help Benedetto.
You're not trying to destroy. But it's wrong, that soul of judgment role is Number Town. David Ragan. Below ten. At Merola, David Ragan sees what springs he is running. Check it out. All those lines of sparks. Incredible shots at all Merola wanted was a chance to win it in the last life. Yeah, I didn't like it last year. I didn't get very close. I have to believe that our two leaders are no longer called. Bush and Denny Hamlin really wanted and hoped to have another Toyota there and Di Benedetto to help them achieve this Victory. Today it will be a little more difficult for them to contain those sports cars and some up-and-coming Chevys.
Also some incredible camera work by our Fox Sports team. You will travel with Joey Logano. Too many pushed the microphone from him is what I saw Kyle Larson. Other. Down down. Well, I'm not sure. Well. Here's Austin Dillon. Here. South. Oh! Martin Truex. Let's say I'm not sure which list charts gather the cars involved in the accident or the cars that didn't make it. We'll know when we get back. Huge buildup near the end of the Daytona 500. I'm a bit of a rocker. A little bit of Memphis at the National motel. In my soul, I don't know.
A small country, the new Chevy Silverado. It's a little bit country and a little bit rock and roll. Could switching to Geico really save you fifteen percent or more on car insurance? Did the little pig cry? Pepe, pepe all the way home? Wait, you're home. Cool. Thank you, Mr. Day. Geico. Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more. Wow. Good. It's too big. And the fries are tremendous. I know crispy bacon is the best thing that ever happened to French fries. That? Mr Fries showcases McDonald's world famous fries without bacon. Or does crispy bacon give the fry some street cred to a whole new audience?
I'm going to let Bacon think it was because I couldn't hear you over the Big and Bacon Bacon baking innovation. McDonald's classics with bacon. For a limited time only. Is that the best thing that can happen to our classic bacon or two? Try it for yourself and decide a dozen or more cars destroyed in the space of about six seconds with less than ten laps to go in the Daytona five-hundred, some still moving, but those cars pretty badly hurt. Now William Byron has some three left or damage, but you'll seesnaking in this shot from the Goodyear blimp to the left inside.
That's our babysitter. Sometimes it's an advantage to be back as if you have a second chance. Maybe I see a little damage right here. Hit that card. In front of the label come the twenty of air. Jones returns to Mrs. Eclipse and must have hit her on the left here to cause damage. But compared to everyone else, all the drivers are out of the cars and feeling fine. You'll see Byron come into frame, dependent downward, just spinning like a top. They are here, Williams is coming to do it right. I have a little damage left there, but it always squeaks.
We are still going in the right direction. Here are the cars involved in the accident in numerical order. This is take one. I just paid twenty. Look. Att David Reagan's car in reverse. What's happening? Look, it goes on and on. Eighteen cars stacked like this is the product of this type of racing. I know we all love it. It's exciting and fun to watch. But if there's a little mistake like Paul Menard made by pushing Benedetto, just taking him a little too hard and spinning him in front of the entire field, did you get a lot of wanted cars like that?
Once again, everyone is fine. Out of the cars and all good, B was off to the limelight. There's David Reagan's car coming back. Let's go to the leader's pit and listen to the team leader. Here's Vince Well, and that's Kyle Busch's Well. And with Adam Stevens, his team leader. Wow, it's been a solid day for you. There haven't been too many events. That's good news. But now, we look forward to preparing for this restart with a group of Fords behind you. Yeah, you know, you expected the Fords to get in front sooner or later, and we played track position well all day and made good adjustments.
I have a pretty fast car. But some respects. It's as if the back nine of the Masters didn't start until Sunday. And this dress doesn't tend to go away. What do you think about partnering with other manufacturers when it comes to the final laps? I think once you get under ten, everyone thinks about the checkered flag and all bets are off. Thanks, Adam. Clint Boyer. Since in a third position, which has been Mike Bugger Ravitch, well, for a while, it seems like you guys have the odd man out. But you're sitting there with a group of Ford corporate teammates.
Five. And I think the first seven. Yes, it's a pleasant surprise. You know, our mobile at Rush Truck Center Mustang has been working well over the weekend. Actually. We have been in position. Everything seemed a little bleak there for a while. Lots of Toyotas and stuff out there. Not many friends, but it seemed to work for us. Now we had his teammates behind us, so we had a chance. That's all we can ask for. Well, they had a chance. Alright, under the red flag, the cars are parked while we wait for the cleanup to be completed.
It's practically a straight shot. And you can even get Chase Alien's nine, William Byron's twenty-four. Other than that, all of those cars are the only ones that made it through with no or very little damage. Anyway, it's time to turn up the heat as the NASCAR Cup Series moves ahead of Atlantis. Last year, Kevin Harvick dominated the weekend and started on a difficult street. The race has not ended by the checkered flag. Coverage begins at twelve until the loss of the East. Atlanta can't wait to see that new rules package in action at the Cup. Siri's big tripleheader weekend.
Come outside. Join us in Hampton, Georgia. Let's go to the spotlight and Regan David Ragan, the first driver out of the spotlight. First of all, I'm glad you're okay, David. From your point of view, you have a fast career. Carl Date. You are a good runner from your point of view. Could you do something there? No. Get to the bottom a little faster. I got into one and two, and I thought Blaney was going to shove me in the back right away and he kind of abandoned me. And when they started destroying three and four, I saw it for a split second.
And before I could do anything, it seems like I'm under car ten, looking at its weird, residential South. Look, that's just a product of these drag races. It's the five hundred Daytonas. You go for victory. I can't believe the top motorsports team selects blinds dot com. We had a fast race car. We were in dispute. That's all you can hope for in those final ten laps until all hell breaks loose. Well, is it under that race car right there? I mean, you're completely under Erica's command. I am Erol's car. What could you see? Yeah, I can't think that NASCAR and the safety teams, you know, take a hard hit like that and move.
You see, Sparks, you see smoke, but you're still conscious and holding on. So going 200 miles per hour and stopping so quickly against the concrete wall isn't much fun. But NASCAR and their entire safety team do an incredible job keeping it safe so we can go to Atlanta Motor Speedway next. We can do it again. Thanks, David. Thank you, Regana. David Reagan. One of those who were left out of the race. Eighteen cars damaged. I'm not sure if all of those are out of the running at this point with Coach Gibbs. Here's Vince. But we often talk about the nerves of the driver or the team leader.
But what about the owner of the car? He's sitting here at Daytona and the first two cars belonged to him. What do you think, coach? My opinion is that I thought we looked pretty good and then waited. Austerity. And then they lost Di Benedetto and now we have a lot of Fords sitting behind us. So this weapon always reaches a weight that way. Uh, but hey, we've got two veteran guys, Denny and Kyle, and I feel good about them and they got Fenix and Mars Corporation up front. But what a great crowd today. I just hope that somehow our two guys stay together and we can pull this off, do you think they'll tie in the end?
You will have it even if one of them wins, obviously another will be disappointed. How does the owner of his team manage that balance? It's always difficult. I think when we leave the track, when you have four cars, yes, there are three. Three of them are not happy. So, eh, but that is also part of our sport, which I love. Teammates are needed and needed. Actually, you have to work as a team with four different cars. You come race track. I love that challenge, but it's hard. Thanks, coach. Well, their cars right now are those of Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin.
He is a coach. He will find a way to handle this hell and smooth this out. That's how it is. Let's go back to Regan. Well, in his first race with the Vine family, competing against Benedetto, you were putting on a show. You led forty-nine laps, you were having the run of your career, and then everything went wrong down the stretch. Share what happened in the car. Just the race and the deal, eh? You know, nothing intentional. I spoke to Paul there. I just think he's trying to get my butt right outside Clinton. Just, uh, just running hard.
So, this is the first time I've seen it there. Yeah, it looks like he barely reached my right butt. He was just trying to push me out, but he was focused on trying to help my Toyota teammates. I hope they can't make it. But, man, like you said, I mean, it was the most fun racing event I've ever had in my life. Being able to lead and do incredible things. Obviously I have an amazing scene. People can see what we're doing here. They must be part of a professional course sponsor. I mean, all these guys, Levine, family racing, Toyota, all of them.
They all took a huge risk with the humans and, God, we showed what we're here for. And I'm very, very heartbroken, but I appreciate being here. Thank you very much to all the fans. For all the support. Where is only the beginning? I'm glad you're well. And we will see in Atlanta what a great run he had here today and he ends up crashing. Kyle Busch could join the Fox sports booth. Do you have a copy? Well, we talked this morning and you said you wanted to find some friends and get to the front and have a chance to win the five hundred.
And here you are. It's you and Denny Hamlin against the world. How do you play this? I don't know. Uh, I usually go with any man. Three. We just have to get out here and figure out how we can make it our own. Eminem's camera has been fast here all week, and Adam and the guys have done an incredible job again, working very hard all offseason to get us to this decision. And that was a matter of me and food, going to work here and bringing it home for everyone. Top rail, bottom rail. They both worked well today at different times.
As it gets colder. Do you prefer one over the other? Uh, not really, no. Uh, I think he just has to figure out what what. Just do it. Alright. Good luck. These last nine laps. Thank you so much. Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and then five Fords right behind them on the restart. Let's go back to recognition. I had a strong Speedweeks for Paul Menard. Unfortunately, in both races you were in front at the end. You end up in reversal. Tell us what happened on the backstretch there with the eraser when it went wrong. Yes, yes, it was time to go.
And that is reaching ninety-five. And it seems like he's trying to get to the middle. I tried to get out and barely caught it. Oh yeah. He wrecked a lot of cars. That was my mistake. Um, black cars feel bad about that. Fast forward. We begin to govern. Apologize to Matt immediately. He obviously shook your hand. No. There are no hard feelings between you. How disappointing is that finger. Having such fast race cars down here and nothing to show for it when the weekend is over. Yes, I walk. So money, counterfeiter. The fastest weekend, all weekend, a couple of bowls there that can try to make it.
But we separated. Uh, me and the fancy cars and the s h R cars. At one point I passed him on the road. We circled down, had a battle, but got separated. They were not as dominant as the water plan was. Obviously, plans always change, but there are still a couple of things to do. Try to win it. Thank you pablo. What are they trying to give the Wood Brothers their sixth victory in the Daytona 500? Running with a heavy heart after losing the Glenwood Patriarch of the team and family last month at the age of ninety-two, we watched Joey Logano drive by the accident scene.
It seemed like he had gotten away, but we heard a small rustle as if someone had gotten into the twenty-two. You'll see him come onto the scene here from the apron the right way. Just there. There, right? Oh yeah. The seventeenth just arrived to the left of him. Europe. That's not such a serious damage. I think it's okay. He was the last one. He actually passes through there without any damage. Let's ride with them and listen to that right side. Just a couple of kisses there. I don't know. I don't think it hurts much. It could have been the skirts on the side of the car against the track pad.
You could try to get to the platform here. Actually, I think that moment brought him to the track a little more than he really wanted to get back to Regan Daniels. Another driver who was caught in that accident. I'm glad this year. Okay, Daniel, I couldn't go anywhere. But is there anything positive you can take away from today as you head home in your new running gear, running toward Atlanta like I'm fast? We're in the top ten all day, fighting for the lead and getting some state points. Everything was going great. Um, I mentioned on the radio many times that something big was going to happen.
I just wanted to make sure that we stayed, you know, to stay out of it. They are simply politicians. Because with ten laps to go it's not like we can wait. It's time to continue. Unfortunately, we just stopped talking to someone else. Mistake. Thank you. Danny. Mike, I gotta tell you, this looks more like a driver's meeting than it actually does. At Kerrison there were so many drivers coming out at this time, eighteen cars involved in that accident and NASCAR protocol is that you have to go to the car center and get checked, then released for television and radio.
Well, the conciliation here after the accident was not like that. Forty years ago to the day. Don five hundred thousand nine hundred seventy nine on the last lap, Cale Yarborough on the inside of Donnie Allison Kale made the move to the inside. Don. He said he would give her the outside. They hang together on the wall and slide onto the grass. And from a mile and a half back came Richard Petty, Darrell Waltrip and A. J. Foyt Petty winning the five hundred. Bobby Allison stopped to check on his brother and jumped out of the car. And then he went after Alison Brothers and Cale Yarborough in one of the wildest five-hundred finishes ever.
That's a car Richard used in season seventy-nine to win the championship. That year, however, he didn't drive here at Daytona, there's Darrell Waltrip's '89 winning car and Jeff Gordon's '99 winning car. I think that courtesy is lost in the last lap. Were going. Dollars. Clint BoyerClint, this is Jeff, buddy. Man, you've got a lot of action behind you. You have two Toyotas in front of you. What does it take to get this five hundred victory at Daytona? What were they doing? A good job. Do you know how to get aggressive? Uh, when we set the position, I was really worried, but the support has been strong.
Every week of speed down here, hey, they follow me, things change. Go with the other guys in front of us. I fixed them quickly. But I hope you know what's coming when you do that. Well, I'll tell you one thing. They have been putting on a great show. I don't know if I or any of us could anticipate the side-by-side action and everything that will happen. You have been at the forefront. You've been behind. Uh, I mean, what do you expect to happen in these last nine laps? Well, I mean, you know, they'll try to work together, but, okay, there are a lot of these Mustangs.
Check out here. He got some allies. There they will be teammates with Kevin. Simply happy. This is a good man. It has been a tremendously good race. I spent the Irvan jump telling anything signed about business like old Daytona. And I know you all better be pretty good at it too. So I'm glad you're up there. Uh, next, look what just happened. A lot. So my Amen. Thanks for putting on a great show. Good luck until the end. Thank you. Clint Boyer will restart third on the inside. I made a mistake. The full moon affects Sunday night racing.
Were you thinking, Mike? For doubting that? Last year, Erik Al Merola won Daytona by ninety-nine, but one kilometer from the finish, he crashed into the wall. Bye bye. Austin Dillon, who went to Victory Lane? Pal Merola left the Daytona five hundred behind. And tonight, through an incident not of his doing, he picks up number ten. Stewart Haas Sports sends him into the air, brings him down to the break and takes him out of the race. Regan is with him. We will be turning three. Daytona hasn't been very kind. Eriko Merola. Eric, we say they saw your car.
They are rising in the air. We spoke with David Ragan. He had the point of view from under his car. What was he like in your car? Do you think you were going there? I did. For a fraction of a second. I thought I was going to go and watch the rerun of the recommended one that has, ah, a lot of resemblance to Kansas, but fortunately, I stayed away from that one. It doesn't hurt at all. Everything's fine. So, be disappointed. You are our Smithfield. Fort Mustang was good. It wasn't as good as what we had at Talladega, but I thought we were good and right in the last few laps and the intensity picked up a lot.
And there's a lot of big races that come and push and push and it seems like the ninety-five, uh, got a little loose, they're in turn three, and they all just picked us up. So it's kind of a product of restrictor plate racing in this kind of thing, when you race so many cars that are close together when the erection happens, we all pile up there. So we'll get up and go to Atlanta. Our Talladega winner a year ago, we'll have to wait for his next win. That young man is a championship driver and he needs a little more luck.
Someone can polish the Harley Earl Trophy about nine laps from now on. You'll be able to get the full summary and recap of a NASCAR race this week on NASCAR. The season race is officially underway and we're talking to the Daytona Five Hundred Champion. Plus, we have Jamie McMurray fresh off a five-hundred race with Brad Kozlowski. David Ragan. Chad can host a cold bird and a blackened server with food and what they are going to leave. You know you have champion size. You activate. Well, that's it for this week in NASCAR. It runs on weekdays at six in the afternoon.
M. This Only in F s one under the red flag here at Daytona with nine laps to go, Shannon. There is no shortage of topics to talk about about the race this week. Like I said, bring us home. But we're going to have to pause that for a second, right? I mean, my goodness, we're going to have some of the guys, of course, who were involved in that accident at Race Hub later this week. So we'll certainly be able to break it all down with them here with Ricky and Bobby or Bobby and Ricky, whatever you want to call it.
We've got Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin right up front. How do they play this? If you're them, let Toyota's Thea go down to the end of the track and race. Yeah, racing is what we saw and this is from the beginning, right? We see Kurt Busch's. Get Around by Ricky Stenhouse Jr. Did you tap or not? That was the question. It's a game of centimeters and you feel it. We drivers live when others get so close to the back of the car. It's a little later when you start to see a muscular Toyota named Bush jumping out front.
You've been in the Toyota car the entire race. Ricky. We saw them working the Chevy early on, and then they tried to slow it down from 200 miles per hour to 55. Sometimes this is what happens, and the bad thing about it is, obviously, Jimmy Johnson had a great run all the time. day. Hendrik Car was fast and overtook from behind. This has happened to me before. No, I was just unlucky. Just follow it. That's where the fuel is supposed to go into the car, so that's not good. Then Kyle Larson spends and he was actually a little quiet until the end of the race.
I mean, reassured by the fact that we saw two wide runs, three wide runs, but we didn't see a lot of carnage until, of course, this one is going to last ninety percent of the race. The first ninety percent. You don't let yourself think about hoisting the Daytona five hundred mile trophy, but with twenty laps to go, it sticks in your mind. I have a chance of this happening and the mentality becomes. If I lift, I lose. And that always gets you in trouble. Way saw Paul Menard, you know, not lifting. Doing what he should do as a driver trying to win the great American race.
And he saw the repercussions because of it. I think you cursed us with that full moon comment. Let's try this again. What about that? I would never have shown you that. He kept the art of it. The director insisted that we watch the whole thing. Oh Lord. Alright. Two Toyotas, five four than a squad. A Chevrolet. Twenty-five minute red flag. Now we are back to yellow and two laps turned green. What happens next? Well, this is what I think is going to happen. Our leader, Kyle Busch, will probably start outside Lane, make the jump at the start, try to get in front of his teammate Denny Hamlin to put them face to face.
If I'm Clint Boyer, I'm going to push Denny Hamlin as hard as he can to try to prevent that from happening. Once that happens, they're going to have to start backing off and get some kind of run in those last two laps, I think if Joy Mangano doesn't have a lot of damage in the corner of him. I don't think she will. I think he may be there. The wild card factor? Yeah. Maybe they were expecting Mike to state the other thing he was thinking about. Remember earlier we talked about the lights being on? It's dark now.
Maybe you don't have the right shield. Maybe you had a darkness. She is going to lend for her son, and now you don't have a clear problem just for the lights. That could be a problem. Alright, well, let's find out what Kyle Busch's audio restart strategy might be. Excuse me. We'll go to the audio at the bottom. Our family could take the top and they have weakened eleven to change places. He let us down. Or what? Probably the best strength is unity. Has that happened? But it's ready to go. The lawyer was pushing me and pushing me pretty aggressively not to let the eleven down, so I don't know if it's working.
Yes, I think it's our best bet. No, I think the more they try to break it down, we'll see it in a lab more or less here. After eighteen cars pile up and ten are missing. We'll be back to finish the Daytona five hundred miles. Are you going to lead or are you going to be led, are you going to be governed by routine? Take a different route. You have to work. Create your own path to the top. Where are you going? From the Harley Earl Trophy a year ago to tonight's gavel. That's Austin Dillon's nightstand sticking out from the bottom of the top row of that hood, or I could identify myself. I want three of these things, but I have a deck and much more than that.
Kyle Busch. What do you do to win this race? Well, we see it right here. He chose the outside. They talked about it on the radio, so the best thing you can do is get a good Denny Hamlin part and get in front of them. But Clint Boyer is the last one who wants that to happen. He wants to break up these Toyotas. I see a little more damage on the left. She that twenty-two car. I didn't think she didn't know what it's like to hurt, but she stays away. Green Green. Perfectly executed. Good start for car eighteen thirty-four.
Michael McDowell. It's pretty good. Image plate tracks only. He's sitting in a pretty good place. He has help. Joey Logano gave him a push because Denny Hamlin leaned back a little to let his teammate out. Problem that opened the door to the outside of thirty-four. Not twenty-two were jointly damaged or not. Always turn the sticking, many almost turned thirty-four grand in the same way. Do you believe how the Ryan priests opened the gap to God? I can not believe it. I can't believe they can believe that. We'll have a great view of that. Like that Viewfinder camera, Ryan.
Priests! There's your leader. Third fourth fifth. This question now did not make us hesitate to advance to the eleven now. Do not you dare. Give me another photo of the full moon. From the Goodyear blimp we saw this. The last accident that occurred. From twenty to thirty-four strokes of writing. The twenty hooks him a little, but in reality, this supposedly happened because Stenhouse's seventeen dived towards the middle. There really wasn't much of a hole there. Collect a forty-two Larson, all four Harvey Teo wall art. Here comes the thirteen, divides itself in two and turns it around.
Holy Smoke, I thought. Truck writes At night. They had six or seven trucks that we are racing to finish. I thought I would never say something like that until now. Five. Camp Ryan Cabin. He is a modified Robin Wright. That? Stan House Here you see a tiny little space that wasn't actually there. He pushes the fourth Kevin Harvick into the box. Kyle Larson turns around. His friend, by the way. Kyle Larson? I don't know. I don't think anyone is now. What a blue Liberty car. Stenhouse Larson. Just get together. Wait. By the way, there's our poleman, William Byron, at number twenty-four.
He just goes through it. Wow. How did he say that? Don't rule it out. That left rearguard. They did a good job repairing the left one, damaged by the previous accident. What does young William have to say? He subscribes to his good way of looking at the back of the car. Days of thunder right there. I'm Tom Cruise online for Lordy, Lordy. I remember one day at Talladega when Neal Bonnet was driving a second car for Richard Childress when they found out they were involved in an accident while walking back to the pits. And I asked him to do it in the pits for CBS and I told him: Get on your knees, you prepared yourself against everyone who was there.
I said: Who do you think? Your best position to win this race? He looks at me. He was driving security cars and they shot him. I agree with that way of going down. You know, this wizard, an exciting race underway. It was a lot of different people guiding Benedetto at different times, shooting. And it was a great, exciting race, and suddenly carnage broke out. It's a hot dog tick, overcooked. Here. Some audio from Kyle Busch's team. Good with the outer cord. But when I'm in the outside lane and there's something definite on the bottom or under the flesh, I can't see how they left it so quickly.
I can't tell Russert my whole lead. You have to tell me if what you want or not. I must be in front of you. Normally, that Mir on the left side is rounded. Teo, it gives you more of a view from the left side and looks beyond the infield to see if anyone is running, especially hearing that outside of Lane. So he just says, I don't have a clear view of it, so I'll need the observer's help, and just anticipate having to go from the yellow line to the wall to block whoever is coming. We'll go with Kyle Larson.
I don't want to travel with anyone. Two blocks down Lane, seventeen-year repeat. I think Ricky Craven said it best. You just don't lift ten minutes to finish. Now we are entering. Five are missing. You don't live. I understand that. Ricky Stenhouse has a streak. He has the moment. He said, I have this career. I have a new opportunity here to make up some positions and get a position to win this state. Oh, five hundred. Sometimes you just have to live with yourself, Kevin Hart. What just happened. Chase. Elliott stopped by. He is currently listed at number twelve.
If Chase could win the race, you'll get ten free boneless wings every ten on Monday and years or you'll get free fried pickles. Finishes of the case. We're in a bind right now. There are those dark eyes and they talk about it. And the sun was setting, you know? I mean, you probably don't want to see what's in front of you, but you won't be making it to two to get around the security truck soon. Borders, always back to Pit. That sequence didn't go well. The lawyer is not happy about that now. Now. This is very interesting now.
Call. Bush chose the inside lane. He says he's done with that because eleven before they were in the interior vents and the reason he did that, Jeff. They had a conversation between observer Tony Hershman and team manager Adam Stevens. And it was all about who was in line to push the pile. And potentially, who would he have to put up with to win the race? He didn't prefer having Logano behind him. TTO has to beat Logano in the end. He felt that Lagana was cautious enough to do so, so he chose McDowell behind. Always listened to.
There are five left to go. It was every man for himself. I thought it was some kind of team. Adam Stevens told us that during that red flag to go green, here it comes, driving it from the outside, this makes me feel that way. He's coming. He's definitely he's going to try to get this thing. The last three in total five hundred have already been decided. Bannon, until that just happened. Just there. Now. Three wide, two rows back. Rivers behind. The boy turns appeared a little early in the dress. William Byron's House. To what? What do you notice?
Didn't we realize that this is crazy? Joe Gibbs. Toyotas take them to the other side of the line. There could be an elimination process here. We're going to NASCAR overtime. William Byron, prepare to leave Chase. Ellie approaches. We'll have a green flag, a white flag, and hopefully a token. It will be a two-lap stint to finish the five hundred miles of Daytona. We will have one car left. We will have a checkered flag. I only have the wind. Clint Boyer's radio. Okay wait. There is a big movement here. The side drafts, thirty formics, twenty-four, lead them to understand why they stagnate, this is where?
Eat. Look, he leaves that yellow line too soon. I don't know if I raised the air on the right side. He just decided to try to get a little ahead of me and drop thirty for a big hit. Just there. The double zero landed on William Byron's side door. Well, let's ride with Brian for free because you won't believe this chapter goes there. Are you OK. Are you OK. Are you OK. Someone has to look this way. They are again. William received too strong knocks on the driver's side door, one from Clint Boyer and the next from Landing Castle.
He's down for a second here. My Lord, I would like to explain all this to you, but in reality they are an explanation. He simply responds on that line. I was going to put him in a great position. Jimmie Johnson in '48. You know, Boyer wasn't happy with where he had to restart. And, of course, he was trying to get back to where he was where he was third. He almost made it. Now, to establish that restart order, NASCAR freezes the field at the yellow flag and returns to the last scoring circuit where everyone was racing before the time of the yellow flag.
Thus they restored order. Twenty. Eric Jones Boom shoots. He just threaded the needle and barely got it through which was fine. The man gets his partner. All that happened well. How about this? Air Jones now appeared in twentieth position. I'm not sure what problem they had before. We talked about no fuel pressure, but hey, you're still in it. Fast. Eriks. Seventh place. Alright? Yes, that's where they currently have a score. The last three Daytona five hundred. Let's review the last one left. Twenty-sixteen. Martin Truex inside Denny Hamlin. He changes the lead three times on the way to the finish line, driving the winner twenty-seven.
Last lap after the push. Kyle Larson runs out of gas. And here's Austin Dillon bumping Eric Allen a year ago. Zay said in the previous race Wait, that white flag threw the rule book out the window. Do what you have to do. Do you know what they all had in common? They had one. Latest. Now, as we move forward, it's only our second overtime. I have a question for Larry. Larry, you know, they came for fuel. Sixty-three was the last time I was there on Pit Road. How are these guys doing with fuel? Yes, Jeff. I mean, obviously, they pitted with thirty-seven left in the regulation labs, but they did it and I was out of paper, but we ran over twenty caution laps and you know how much fuel they saved.
So I think everyone should be in good shape, considering the number of caution laps ahead. Yes, probably there later. And I ask you one more question. What about the eleven, although they previously had that fuel in question? Do we know how to solve that? Are you filling it with fuel? Well, we've been looking at different shots, and it looks like even earlier in the race, halfway through the race, they were definitely having some problems, I think, Regan Smith reported. But the last few times we looked, we didn't see any problem with them having fuel in that car.
Jeff Thursday night, Joey Logano pulled the move play from the fourth spot. He said that he thought about it for thirty laps to plan exactly where and how he would win that race. It was a textbook getting a little draft right here, the office team getting out of car ten. That, and then just shoot until the end of the twelve, gives it a boost. That little show had the momentum he needed to get in front of Clint Boyer and they couldn't catch him. Now I don't know if there will be work tonight, but it might be different.
They were single, aligned, and he had all this time to plan and think about it because, as the race unfolded, it didn't seem like there was any warning coming. Now that we have these reboots back to back, I don't think he can plan it like that. Well, there's no way. You don't have the patience of being a child to do that. But that push will have to come from behind. Yeah, he's got a little trigger right there on the back left. So that will hurt Jeff. Why did he make that move? Exactly where? On the track he achieved it.
I love that area to make a move and I'll tell you why he might do it. As you enter the test, notice that the driver in front of you is looking straight ahead. He is looking at the mirror of him, looking at him from this mirror. But when you leave that test, you must present your strategy to avoid hitting the wall. Therefore, your eyes generally gravitate forward as you climb the ladder. Well, that's when you jump. You make that move because they aren't looking in the mirror. And it seemed like that was exactly what happened. With the camera rolling in front of Joey, it was almost like he didn't see it coming.
It was like a surprise. I mean, suddenly, Lagana was jumping. Here it comes. And, well, that CIA Coming that materialized all the way back and turned back because he joined ungodly teammate Ryan Blaney who climbed that back bumper in the first game. Good push to close the frontstretch to build that momentum. Um, in that extra speed when they entered the ride, the cars were pushed back into the garage area. Chase, Elliot's and Clint Boyer's There's Britain and Gon were dragged back to the garage yesterday was the race where no one wanted to get the pass. Tonight is the race where no one seems to be able to find the finish line, and here are some of the reasons why Kurt Busch, Bubble Wallace's forty-three, Jamie McMurray's forty-three are damaged.
This is Coming Pit Street for him and he says Kyle Larson gets something around Brad Kozlowski with Tyr and Matthew Benedetto gets turned by Paul Menard and eighteen car violence. Miguel. I know it seems like they're just bouncing around, but you shake around a lot and you're in these kinds of risks. And then, with two to go, Boyar falls on Michael McDowell and makes contact with William Byron and Chase Elliott. And one thing that disappeared from our screen when all this was happening behind them was Denny Hamlin. With the lead. Do you think Kyle Busch regrets the decision to go inside on that restart?
Here's Kyle Busch inside. It's too late in the race for us to be able to play those games on the restart to try and get head to head. I'm just going to bet on Boyar, who ranks fifth among the fourteen, he knows that he has to make something happen and now is the time. One and a half laps left. Hey, he does a good job here. Recognizing that from twenty to thirty-four, they just get a little high, they stagnate. It just comes out well. I'm almost like Dal has a problem, barely two feet. Denny Hamlin was in charge.
Kyle Busch. They checked the scoreboard from the moment of the caution, and that might be all Denny Hamlin needed to win this race and think about how emotional the victory will be for Trainer Gibbs. Eleven cars win this race. That would be incredible. Wei is two laps away from finishing the Daytona five hundred. The red flag is up, the cleanup will end tonight on Fox. Bob Spurs is next, except on the west coast. At eight The Simpsons, at nine thirty Bob's Burgers and then a double dose of Family Guy at nine thirty. Mike, what time do you and I do that?
Hit this morning with Fox in a box and print About seven, twenty-five, thirty-one hours ago, twelve have been hired, but look at the stands. Everyone's still here waiting to figure this out. Coach Gibbs, with his two cars in front of a crowd of a hundred thousand people waiting to see who will finally drive walking, is pushed into Victory Lane to hoist the Harley Earl Trophy. Series. I have a name. Take it with you, but wait for their names. Do one thing themselves. Good year. More driven. Okay, if you're not the guide dog, the scenario never changes.
That's why this is the view for any other full-size pickup truck. And this year it is deja vu again. Because only the Ford F one fifty with Thai strength military grade aluminum alloy body offers you the best door in its class. Payload and you will have the best baby in its class. Still towing with Thiss is Big Dog. This is the Ford F one fifty. It doesn't just raise the bar. It's. What are you doing? I just got some new and old body washes for myself. Not for you. For me. Relax with lavender. Look, this spy thing is for me.
This figure of body soaps? No what are you doing? Is for me. Building a better bank starts with observing an old saying: Really? So Capital one is building something completely new. Capital One cafes invite places with people here to help you not sell you checking and savings accounts with no fees or minimums because that's the way it should be. Siri's Saturday races in Atlanta on FM One, Las Vegas on Fox and Phoenix on F S won the next three weeks in a row and the Cup Series will follow on Sunday.
Oh please. There's a full moon on Sunday night, like we all grew up racing short tracks, and the full moon on Saturday night meant carnage and crashes and, oh, a lot of work during the week getting those cars ready and tonight is no different. But when I look at the cars left, it's going to be a Noah's Ark. Restart two Toyotas in the front row, two Fords right behind them, and a Chevrolet right behind them. What happens next? Well, I think all eleven are going to win this race. He got into a position. I think that little lead I had at the back is just what we need to win this race.
But Michael McDowell, who is having a great run, might be that polar about this whole thing. But he was already warming up to reach the finish line and I had to wait. Then I started to warm up to finish. And then I had to wait, so maybe we'll have an ending. He became hot at this moment. I don't know, Jeff. I can't pick a winner from this. Kyle Busch is very, very strong. So is Denny Hamlin. They both know how to win here. Oh, Hamlet is a former Daytona Five Hundred champion, Joey Logano's hat. The fastest car of the entire week.
I wonder what the odds are that Ryan Priest's work is infifth place. It's still anyone's career. Really is. I mean, I look at Danny Hamlin right now. He will likely take that inside position, as his teammate Ka Bush did before. And he has Joey Logano on his bumper. It will be a good boost to try to go out and get that advantage. But I want to join God on my rear bumper in the final laps. We've seen what he's been doing. Uncle gave, don't you think, Joe? You'll be trying a little harder than Michael McDowell. Yes No.
Maybe I think Joey has a lot of confidence on these types of tracks and he is more aggressive. Michael McDowell is doing a phenomenal job putting himself in this position and I think he'll have a great finish. I just don't know if he'll push as aggressively as Logano, but one of the things I know. So, Logan's car, Mikey, has a big bulge, and that left him with a quarter panel. I think he might be a good pusher, but I don't know what happened. If he tried to get airborne and got caught in it, well, well, like that, he could really slow down.
Let's go back. Denny Hamlin's victory at Daytona five hundred three years ago. There's that push we always talk about. He had a big hit from behind by Kevin Harvick. That's what gave him this run to get three. Well, with teammate Matt Kenseth and Mark Church Jr coming to the end, we thought his ex had won this race. I mean, we were saying tricks, tricks, tricks. And then look at the last second, then it turned out that the lead changed hands three times in those last sixteen hundred feet and Joe Gibbs Racing Toyota driver of Chesterfield, Virginia, Denny Hamlin, who grew up in the grandstands of the Richmond Fairgrounds Raceway, waiting to have the opportunity to race here one day.
And seven-year-old Denny Hamlin wrote a letter to himself saying: I want to win the five hundred at Daytona. He specified the year, the paint job, and who Crew would be. And his dream came true at least once. Until now Mike. The landscape has certainly changed for Joey Logano. Now, instead of a lot of Fords around him, he's a mix of manufacturers. So TJ was able to get an idea of the damage to the cars and the severity of the damage that could help Joey. Yes, the quality of his cars at the moment is quite poor. No damage.
So we have a little, but we're pretty good. Shape. He also had pretty good speed. It would be interesting to see what we can do with this green and white token. Thanks Toyota. Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Joey Ford. Look. Mrs. Logan. Ah, from twenty to thirty-four. Michael McDowell. You are aboard the Ryan priests' Chevrolet. And next to him, Ty Dillon. There is that damage. Spoken just below. It depends. Everything sounds good there. That quarter panel is way out. Uh, I don't know how to hurt him or not. I know it hurt a little. I think they are in a very tight draft and everyone is pushing hard.
I don't think it's going to have any effect on Joey Logano's ability, if he has the speed to outrun one of these Toyota crew chiefs for Denny Hamlin for this five-hundred Regan. While Chris Gay separates. It's been an eventful day for you. You had the fuel problems before. You solve them a couple of pit stops ago. How are your nerves right now? And do you have enough fuel to get here? Honestly, like I told you before, my nerves really aren't that bad. I mean, you have a talent pool of these guys around you and Denny Hamlin in a sprint.
Actually, any race except a drag race on the main road, in drag races multiple times in recent years, there is a reason why it will work or not. But I feel pretty good about the FedEx Toyota Camry right now. Good luck. Thank you Chris. Calm, cool and collected, cool guy right there. No matter what happens, whatever happens. Yes, he has done his job. It's like Denny, I put you in position to win the Daytona 500. The rest is up to you. Denny Hamlin is your race leader. Twenty-six winner Kyle Busch came in second, the number eighteen Toyota.
Joey Logano third number twenty four outside of second. Pink. The number. Thirty-four fourteen. Yellow. Michael McDowell as we go back, rookie number three Ryan Priests for J. T. G. Doherty Racing in the forty-seven next to him. Ty Dillon, whose brother won this race last year in the number thirteen Chevrolet. Eric Jones in his number twenty Toyota. Kyle Larson. Despite bringing out that caution and the damage, he is eighth in a Chevy. Alex Bowman's number eighty-eight Chevrolet is the ninth place car. Jimmy Johnson at number forty-eight. We saw all the trouble Johnson had this week, including having the left rear end of his car ripped off by a speeding car on the Pits access road.
Jimmy is ten years old and right behind him is, I think, the feel-good story of the day. Ross Chastain of Florida. The watermelon man, they call him. He's in that business. He had a trip prepared in the worn. Siri is for the entire season. It was his dream. He was on top of the world until his sponsor had problems with the government, he declared bankruptcy and the team closed. He missed that trip. He picked up this trip for five hundred. There's Ross Chastain in eleventh place. He is in perfect condition. Rusty Estate was a great job today.
Keep it up, friend. Hey, take this. You know, I keep killing. Just do it. I did a couple of laps here now on the lead lap as well. The Fords of Ricky Stenhouse, Ryan Newman and Brad Kozlowski, all with damage. Two laps down. Parker Kligerman and Austin Dillon, seven laps back, Cory Lovejoy and B. J. MacLeod. That air, the car is running, and as soon as the dry speedster has left the track, we'll be ready to restart. And that first start with two to go was in regulation time. So I'll get back to NASCAR eventually and the rules convey that.
They will wave the green flag. Yes and it's a big if, tonight. If the leader turns around and takes the white flag while the track is green, the next flag ends the race. Caution or Pictures. If the leader does not reach the white flag under Green, he will try again. I have money. I crossed my fingers and said a prayer to make it happen. I do not work. It's time to pick a winner in the sixty-first Daytona five hundred. Barley is the soul of Budweiser and barley doesn't grow just anywhere. It comes from the heart of America, a place where the earth stretches to the sky, where our farming family has called home for five generations long before a Budweiser left our brewery, raised on this land.

The cars rolled to finish the Daytona five hundred and sixty first in advantage. Mean. The first took three days to decide the finish between him and Johnny, both Richard Pettys won it seven times. Dave Marcus has tried it thirty-three times, with Bobby Allison being the oldest. Trevor Bayne, the youngest to reach Victory Lane. Two United States presidents have been grand marshals and eight members of the Pro Football Hall of Fame have been honorary starters.
Julian Edelman. Do you want to add it to that list? Probably, and a Tiger Stadium was invented in the mid-1980s. The wave reappears. And in Daytona, everyone preparing for this restart. What will Denny Hamlin do? Add up, Jess, we make the team. Do reset. Choose above. You will disappoint us. Tracking that twenty-two can't behind us two third that we don't have thirty-four with the first one pushing it up. I'm fine with that. You are going to be your true love. I agree with the measure, but there is no last reset. Kyle Busch doesn't feel that way about it.
I don't know if he trusted Denny Hamlin to be true to it. I heard one side of the story, but I never heard the other side of that story. I didn't hear the other guys say: I'm fine with that big difference. There's Denny Hamlin, who won the Daytona 500. Kyle Busch doesn't want to be Dale Earnhardt. Oh, nineteen goes for twenty. Still, I'm trying to win it. He wants it. Now. One of those guys be happy and keep rolling. Jokingly, I'd like to be in the middle of this because I think it's the best chance for your organization to win.
The state tone of five hundred is to have them next to each other, not next to each other. The coach knows how to listen quite well. He just listens to what's going on. Joe Gibbs, Rick Hendrick, Roger Penske. These multi-team owners generally do not get involved when their drivers compete for wind. Then they leave it to the Cheese Crew. That's what they usually do. Jeff. Darryl, you have both been part of multi-car teams. You know, there's no one you'd rather eat than your teammate because, you know, he has the exact same opportunities and the same team as you.
He had a rule: just don't trash your teammate. Yeah, I mean, they're great to have in a race like this where they can work together and stay out of trouble. Stay ahead, give yourself a chance to win. But when I say it yourself, in the end it all comes down to you, let's hurry up, Mac, is that fancy laptop going to spontaneously combust tonight? Well, yes, I already put it aside for tonight, but back to my teammates. I know working for Richard Childress Racing for four years with two car teams there, he had internal rules. Your point.
Don't beat your teammate, but don't help anyone else beat your team, friend. Those were the two rules of the House. Other than that, he said, competing in churches is as difficult as you want. I think most of the rules about if there's a rule, if there's a golden rule with five laps to go, it's every man for himself. Don't destroy your teammate. But every man for himself. But folks, there are only two cars of each make in the first three rows, and there are three lanes of racetrack and there's not enough of them. There aren't many turns to take.
Wait. We just saw what a great career he could make. Boy, oh God! In two cars that were side by side when they stopped. Thirty for Mcdow, along with Believe Lugano. Boyer had a great run, so there's no reason why that can't happen too. If the guys in the front row get next to each other or the two Toyotas get next to each other, sit next to each other. That sound of silence is the saving of Ryan's priests. You don't know how many more of these could fit on these white tiles on the screen. I've never seen a guy joke around in a car like him, except Rusty Wallace.
He reminds me a lot. A rusty man in the car, shaking his head, stamps it in Paris. The first fourteen cars go down to Ryan Newman who is on the lead lap. One of them. We'll win the five hundred and two laps of Daytona to be green next time. Bye bye. Alright, Joey Logano radio and then Ty Dillon Way Go right to the part where he goes with four. Joey looked in the mirror and said, Oh, I knew that. If they seek help, they may be able to find their friends or where to find them. That's how it is.
And sometimes that's what you least expect in the last few laps of this race. I love Stephen Stills, you will help me have a good room. Unfortunately, right now for Joey Logano, Thai Dylan's thirteen is in the outside lane, so I'm not so sure he can get there. His best friend. Right now, there's a guy we've been talking about with the Visor camera, twenty-two-year-old Brian. When he always made good moves, they were on the outside. I mean, he passes a lot of cars on the outside. Joey Logano, racing against former teammates in Joe Gibbs, running on the front row with the two Toyota Fords and the Chevrolets, then eight more cars with lap leads to settle this.
So what I'm saying is the real motivator here is for Joey Logano, knowing that he got the opportunity for him at Joe Gibbs Racing. Is that Pinsky? He would love to ruin this day for them. There are two laps left and everyone is standing. It's time for overtime, sponsored by Credit Bank. Waiting too long is saying that the outside lane isn't organized as well as the inside lane, so I think it's going to work. Here comes Join those going with that big push to the rear bumper of the eighteen, noted the career that Bush is going to have on this team.
I'll need some help. I have to have someone up there putting some pressure on these guys to do it. Bush stays in line. Here comes Helena. You know, twenty to get there, she'll do it. I just don't think that makes it possible to not be completely ready and in position. She had a push big enough toTry to make a move with your teammate. Denny Hamlin is going to this last round. I think Priest wanted to help Joy, but he's not that fast. Joy can't stay hooked even one turn to go to Connecticut. Yankees chasing Hamlin. A measure from Greece is coming to help, and that's what he's going to need.
He has backup. The priest will not be able to do it alone. He has to get that push. Priest will have to hit the brakes here, but he has Kyle Busch outside of Lane. Priest grew up together in Quarter Midget Tracks in Connecticut. Look, Ana looks short. Kyle Busch above. Look down. McDowell second yellow car. Where will he go? So interesting that McDowall decided to go with a power increase. But here comes Eric Jones inside. Danny Hamlin Hamlin. Turnover without side by side. The battle is over. This time, Denny Hamlin wins his second day and wins it for Coach Toyota.
What a day for J for Joe G for that hole. That's some storybook stuff. That was meant for him again. I'm really proud of you. He is here and right now. My family is going to work with these guys. Wait. Kill Gibbs. The Toyotas finished One, two, three. I think it was just meant to be. Jones Boy, where do you come from? Well, coach, we were talking a few moments ago and you said this is a CZ as long as one of them. Once you finish one, two, three, it doesn't get any better than that. I have to tell you what happened right here.
His name is on that car. That's his number eleven with anyone I've ever encountered. I'm just saying that what happened here is emotional for all of us. For the Jackson family to run like you did there is just amazing. I am emotionally destroyed. This is a cruel joke saying that what happened here is really unreal, Ana, I'm just excited. I think j. J had the best, the best view, everything. It is a truly incredible experience. Put any other words? I just thank the Lord to be a part of this. JD I hope people go to the J.D.
Gibbs legacy dot com. Do you see that video? I think a congratulation could change your life. Joe Coach talks about his oldest son, J.D, who died last month from a neurological disease. President of the team and co-founder with his father, he recruited Denny Hamlin. Sunoco drove wins all season long feeling Denny Hamlin in this Dakota five hundred power. Last year he didn't win any races. I already won the first edition of the race. The first time a team has finished one, two, three since 1997. When Jeff Gordon won the five hundred. The J decal is being noted along with Wood Chopper Hall of Famer Glenwood who recently passed away.
Didn't you say I got a job back? Victory path? You have the perfect role. Jamie Little Danny. All these fans have been here for a long time waiting to see this moment, but you just pointed out that sticker. What does J.D. Gibbs mean to you in this event? The whole family, they have done a lot for me throughout my career. It's just that this one is for JD. For us, we were going to miss him desperately for the rest of our lives. But his legacy still lives on with three Joe Gibbs likely competing for this once again.
A new, cheap team here in Daytona and Chris perked up. You guys worked together on Xfinity Siri in the past. What did you know about him? And do you think you guys could do this and win again? Hey, he's a short track runner. That's what I love about him, is that he has that short track mentality. Wheels and wheels are the same. The car ran pretty well. Good morning, Teo too. So it's just amazing to be in this position. Thanks to FedEx, Tokyo. All these partners. Coca Cola, Jordan Brand, Monster Energy, everyone who put this car on the track.
This is incredible. I don't want to hear this. Might I want to put it back in my house? Denny, not many people get the chance to do it a second time. And you always think that if you had that opportunity again, what would you do differently? What is going to be different in this celebration? I don't know. I'm just going to enjoy it more. I mean, I think I was flabbergasted by everything that happened the first time with the photo finish and all that. This one lets me soak it in a little more. Tomorrow I have a terrible hangover, but I will enjoy the rest of my life partying with the fans.
I love it. Coming Soon Tone One Five Hundred Note. That bumper sticker for J.D. Gibbs on the checkered flag at the aid station and a very religious man who deeply missed his family here. Five hundred trying. Chris Capehart came to right, Ernie, last year. What do you have to say at this moment? Tow all Denny's skeptics, but last year he said: Well, he didn't win a race. He's not going to win a race. And here you are. Yes, it's incredible, I told him over the radio. I have been in this position many times. I can't believe how many times I've been on the front row for the last three Daytona 500 starts. I see myself as one for four in those situations, but it comes down to five. Incredible work by this entire FedEx team.
I have to think of Toto, everyone to help improve this racing car on the track. Coca Cola, Jordan Brain. Michael Jordan's birthday today is pretty surprising. All in the big little burgers. Well, bringing back white at FedEx is just one of those days where I felt like I was meant to be. Honestly, our car was really good. We got a little confused mid-race and couldn't get fuel in the car. But other than that, I mean, we're running all day and we put ourselves in a great position and we just capitalized at the end and tip our hat to Carla.
Well, I know she was looking forward to her first win here at the Daytona Five Hundred, but we just weren't going to be tonight. They didn't do it. This is Jeff. I want to go back to this last couple of reboots. You talk about your teammate named Bush. You guys had a conversation there with Chris Gay, you talked to your new crew chief about what to do on that last restart, you saw where Kyle Busch chose the inside time before taking the lead. So this time you had to make a decision, trying to figure out how to get in front of him.
Was. When he gave me the top. I was literally cheering myself up a little bit mentally, thinking: My playbook said: Always choose the best, no matter what. It doesn't matter who's behind you, it doesn't matter. I mean, that's what I'm saying. I've been at the front of the front row on many restarts and lost because I was down and felt like I had a chance to jump there. You know, obviously, there were circumstances that happened behind us, lobbyists need to be out front with caution. But I feel pretty good about being on the front line at that time, obviously we thought it was the best idea for us.
You know, he asked me if I could throw myself in front of him on the final restart. I was fine with that because I thought between him and twenty-two, we were going to be the best pushers and it worked out well for us. Thank you. Don't go celebrate. Well, I'm going to hate tomorrow, but I'm a happy sweetheart. Every second that Kyle Busch, his teammate, finishes second, he has been excellent. Kyle Busch has won everything at Daytona except the five hundred. And you were right there. You made a deal with your teammate Denny Hamlin for that last restart.
Was that the difference? Would you do it a second time differently? Um, I don't know, strength is in numbers. You know, we're trying to protect at least one of our cars so he can get to Victory Lane. And I felt like we were able to do that by being able to do what we did on that last restart. But overall, it's certainly bittersweet. You know, it's awesome to see a J a G R Victory Lane car for Jo and J. D and everything. That already happened this offseason with all that. But it's very, very bittersweet for everyone at Eminem's and at Interstate Batteries and Skittles and Snickers and all those who support us and all the guys on my team who worked so hard to try to get to Victory Lane for us and test them.
You know, our Daytona five hundred victory. You know, he has to, I don't have any. But sometimes it's part of it. And then we just have to move on to the next time. You seemed apprehensive about following that plan when it was presented to you. In retrospect, do you wish you had run like you did before? Um, yes and no. I mean, again, trying to make sure that at least one of us gets to Victory Lane is first and foremost, and, you know, after that, you try to run and see what you can do for yourself and for your team.
But you know, there weren't enough cars around. Actually. I mean, there were six cars racing at the end. I don't know if anything would have been different. Really, if something materialized. I think we would all have been stuck next to each other, given that I would have been outside or something. So it's very difficult to know. I don't know how it would have turned out, but I'm not going to worry about it. Thanks, Kam. Thanks, Vince. Another bit of irony. But Denny Hamlin and eightseven wrote that letter saying they wanted to win the Daytona 500. He wanted to win it on February seventeenth, today, February seventeenth for Denny Hamlin.
He would open two beers. Tell me what sounds more refreshing. Understood. This. For this one. Definitely the one Bush left. Do you look like you're serious? Yes. It's Bush, right? Crew? I don't know. It's about doing the puppet show Danny is doing behind me right now and winning this.
Congratulations to them. They kept their cars whole during the day. They worked together. Well, so, yes, they beat us, but, we're still proud of Ah, the speed that we have in our race car.
